Marina, Eloise and an evening at Brigderton House
@spitefularmand @alrightsnaps @lucasbarr @viscountessevie @hptriviachamp @jeanvanjer @dollypopup
Marina stroked Eloise's hair as she read from a book by a French author. She was always wanting to improve her French, given Marina was fluent and she liked understanding her terms of endearment.
They were sitting on a blanket in the garden, at peace, whilst the twins were napping. At three years old, they seemed incredibly energetic and wished to babble endlessly, which Marina adored and surprisingly, so did Eloise.
"We should encourage Amanda early. Her brother is born in an inherent position of power by virtue of his sex; society has already silenced her." Eloise once said, holding Amanda, who was telling her 'El' about her slice of cake.
Marina adored having Eloise here. But she often worried, especially knowing Lord Bridgerton was not fond of her.
"I spend time with a Baroness. How much more respectable can one get? Even Lady Cowper has tried to be your friend."
"You are the only young lady who does not care for her position, El."
Eloise opened her eyes, looking up at her, amused, "I like this position; it's rather comfortable." She heard Marina's gentle laugh before she shut her eyes again, content to lie here.
"Oh, I forgot to ask. Are you doing anything next Wednesday evening?"
"Not particularly. Are you finally to accompany me to the opera?" She asked hopefully.
Eloise snorted, "No. Kate is hosting a dinner. Her first big one as Lady Bridgerton, I suppose, and she and mama said I could invite someone. The young men there will be there for Frannie and Edwina."
"You want me to come to your house? For dinner?" Marina asked, surprised. Eloise sat up and looked at her, seeing the worry in her face.
"Kate said I should invite a friend. And well, you are my closest friend." Eloise reasoned.
Well, 'friend' was putting it lightly. Eloise spent more time at Crane House and Romney Hall than she did at her own house.
"El-" Marina began, "You are aware of your brother's opinion of me? What of Colin? Penelope? Portia?" She knew as neighbours, the Bridgertons would invite them
"What about them?" Eloise shrugged, "I can point out Anthony's hypocrisy and Colin is practically courting Penelope."
"Truly? Finally." Marina muttered.
"Come to dinner. Please?" Eloise whispered, leaning on her shoulder
Marina sighed, "You are accompanying me to the opera."
"You want to invite who?"
Anthony was not particularly pleased when he heard his mother and Eloise speaking of the dinner party, and Eloise said that Marina was coming.
"Marina Crane. Mama and Kate said it was fine." Anthony looked at his mother, betrayed.
Eloise rolled her eyes, "Brother, you are the last man to speak of scandal, or do you forget that you nearly married your wife's sister and ruined her reputation?" He bristled at being reminded of his own failures.
"I think she has been a good friend to your sister." Violet said, with a slight shrug, "It has kept her out of Bloomsbury and her hunt for Whistledown."
"You forget that she was going to trap Colin into marriage."
"You mean a marriage Colin told me himself he would have entered into, even if he knew?" Violet said and Anthony looked at her, surprised, "He told me. He has made his peace with her and she is a friend of Mary's. It is hard being a young widow. You should not hold grudges, dear. It is unbecoming."
Wednesday evening came, and Marina decided on a deep yellow silk dress embroidered with white lace flowers and white netted gloves.
She had moved past caring about what the Ton thought. She was here for her children. And besides, she had made friends with Kate's mother, Lady Mary, who was her neighbour due to living with Lady Danbury and her daughters.
"Lady Bridgerton." She greeted her happily when she arrived at Bridgerton House.
"Lady Crane, how lovely you look." Kate complimented, "I am glad you came. I have sat you with Eloise, more to temper her. She and Anthony had one of their tiffs when I invited you."
"I do hate causing strife between the two of them," Marina said, but Kate merely waved away the concern.
"Anthony is a stubborn, obtuse man, and I love him for it. He will come around." Kate winked.
Eloise rushed towards her, hearing she had arrived, Benedict behind her, amused. Eloise had decided on a deep blue gown.
She noticed Lord Bridgerton watching her throughout the dinner. She supposed Anthony had little cause to trust her, but she was far too happy speaking with Edwina, Francesca, Coln and John Stirling near her.
"Did you finish the gardening?" Lady Danbury asked, "I found it surprising that you did your garden yourself."
"I did." Marina said, "We had to import a few violet and lilies, however. I cannot wait for them to bloom. We finished planting them yesterday afternoon."
"You plant your own flowers?" Anthony piped up, surprised.
"My late husband adored plants." Marina said, "As did my late mother. She always believed one should grow their own flowers. That way, you can only hold yourself accountable for when they go wrong."
"Accountability. Hear that, El?" Anthony said.
"Do you, brother dear?" Eloise returned.
"May we come see them when they bloom?" Edwina cut in, ever the peacekeeper, "Kate and I adore lilies, especially waterlilies."
"I should like that very much," Kate said.
"As would I." Marina agreed. She caught Anthony's annoyance in the corner of her eye again. Eloise smiled smugly at her brother.
"Can we see the twins?" Hyacinth asked excitedly. She too, liked seeing twins and playing with them. Marina chuckled fondly and agreed.
"How is Sophie settling in?" Benedict asked, trying to sound disinterested, but his eyes were just the opposite.
"Who is Sophie?" Penelope asked, curious. Eloise glared at her, not knowing why she wished to know. She did not even come to visit Marina ever! She would not do anything to jeopardise Benedict or Sophie.
"Very well. Though I do think she prefers the country, as do I." Marina said, "But, it is my duty to be here, and I take that seriously. She and I have been enjoying London."
"Is Sophie a companion?" Penelope asked, curious.
"Sophie is a good friend," Elosie piped up.
"My lady's maid and a trusted friend," Marina added, eating as if it was nothing. But she knew some of the nobles were confused. Of course, they were.
"Well," Daphne piped up, "I think it is good my sister has some good influences in her life." She always had an inkling about her sister and when Simon helped her understand the nature of relations and sex, she begun to realise that Eloise and Marina were more than mere friends.
After dinner, Marina went to the parlour with everyone when Mary kindly pulled her aside.
"It is hard. When you become a widow and all of a sudden." Mary said sympathetically, "I am glad you came."
"They do not teach us what to do when your husband dies." Marina agreed, "We just try. I may not have loved my husband, but he was a good friend, and we cared for each other. He loved the twins so much." She would never speak ill of Philip. He had taken care of her and the twins and ensured she kept her position of Lady Crane in his will and that the title would go to his first son, as was the familial tradition.
Mary nodded with a small smile, "I am lucky to have my girls. I think, frankly, I would have died without them after..." She sighed, her face pulling into a frown as memories of despair and numbness came to mind. She looked over to Kate, who was standing with Edwina and Daphne, the trio laughing about something. There was no need to dwell on awful thoughts from the past.
"I understand," Marina whispered, thinking of the despair after discovering George was dead. But somehow, having Eloise made it all better. Her light in the darkness.
"I am going to leave. Thank you for a loving evening, Lady Bridgerton. Lady Bridgerton." She said to Kate and Violet.
"Thank you for coming, and I cannot wait to see your garden," Violet said, "Especially if Eloise has been part of it."
"As will I." Eloise said, popping up next to her, "I fear Mr Hudson will start speaking of the details of sheep rearing."
"You are to return to Crane House?" Violet asked.
"I promised Amanda I would read to her," Eloise told her mother, and she ignored how Anthony choked on his drink in surprise, hearing that whilst Kate bit her lip, rubbing her husband's back.
"Oh." Violet returned, looking between the two, "How lovely." She smiled gently at them. She did not quite understand the nature of their relationship, but there was something so warm about it.
"Why don't you read to Auggie?" Daphne asked cheekily.
"Call on me when he starts speaking, and I shall be interested," Eloise told her sister, who rolled her eyes fondly.
When they returned home, Eloise went straight to the nursery, whilst Marina went to the Baroness' room, deciding she was rather tired to call for a bath that evening, instead washing her face, changing into her nightgown and brushed out her hair.
Eloise joined her half an hour later, doing the same and took her hair down.
"Three stories before she fell asleep." Eloise told her, practically collapsing on the bed, next to her, "Oliver made it through the first one and a half. I fear he prefers the Times to Le Petit Chaperon rouge."
Marina was smiling at her and Elosie tilted her head, trying to decipher it, "What?" She asked.
"Nothing. Just you." Marina said, "I had a wonderful evening. It si nice to know your mother does not hate me."
"Oh?" Eloise smirked, "May I have a reward for enduring polite conversation? Just so we could affirm my mother does not hate you?"
"I do not get a reward?" Marina teased as she climbed on top of her, her legs either side of her lap. She gently stroked her waist, shutting her eyes and sighing as Eloise kissed her. Her hands moved to the hem of her nightdress, pulling it upwards.
They were both adequately rewarded for their good behaviour, it seems.

Tumblr media
When I entered the ball room my eyes landed on the gracious decorations distributed in the huge room. Many people were gathered around some tables with lemonades and small deserts. The first ball of the season surely had something to offer. This Lady Danbury really outdid herself. Some men and women gathered on the dancefloor were dancing to a fast tune. I removed my hand from my brothers arm and smoothed out my dress. “behave, the queen might attend, so I´ve heard”. I rolled my eyes at his comment. I might not be in awe with his plan for me this season, but I would never dare to put shame on him or my family in public. “Yes, I know why I am here” “good, then enjoy yourself sister, I shall see you later”. He bows his head slightly and takes one last look at me before then leaves towards a bunch of gentlemen gathered and sharing stories about their recent travels.
I took another look across the room searching for any lost souls I might join. Everyone here knows each other since years and possibly grew up in the ton. All these families come here every season, wishing for their kids to marry. My brother has informed me a bit about the most influential families and provided me with a list of possible husbands. Of course, I do not wish to marry but I had to come here this season with my brother to satisfy my mother, I truly hope if I stay unmarried till the end of the season they shall finally let me live my life as a spinster in peace.
My eyes landed on a beautiful girl in a light blue dress. Her chestnut hair was put together and draped over her shoulder. She was wearing a light blue gown with delicate sleeves drawing attention towards her long sparkling gloves. She was wearing as loose silver necklace with matching diamond earrings. She looked breathtaking. She was talking to a blonde-haired girl until she was asked to the dancefloor. After she left the chestnut-haired girl looked around and started scribbling something into her dance card. I knew she was going to make this season a lot more worthwhile. I started making my way over to her. She was very focused on filling all the spots on her dance card. I cleared my throat as I was standing right beside her. She looked up at me with the blank fear of being caught. “do you mind?” I asked holding my arm with my dance card on it out to her. She looked me up and down and a smile formed on her lips: “not at all”. She softly took my hand and started writing some names into my dance card. “I truly hope none of these gentlemen exist” “Don´t be concerned, I have been doing this for some time now” she said in a proud tone. I already loved her voice and the way it made me feel. She smelled of oranges and looked far more beautiful up closely. Her presence was calming and already let me forget about my true reason for being here. When she was done she let go of my gloved hand and I already missed her touch. “your first season here?” she asked with curiosity. “yes, my mother wants me to find a husband” “You´re already making a good first impression” she said and a smile escaped my lips. Her eyes were in beautiful blue color and did not fail to have a lasting impression on me. “It is rather refreshing having another woman around who is trying to escape suitors rather than charming them” she turned her gaze towards the dance floor. “I´m Eloise, Eloise Bridgerton” she turned her gaze back towards me and our eyes met immediately. “Y/N, Y/N Y/L/N” I said. She held her arm out for me to take “care for a turn? I might tell you some interesting facts about everyone here” “I do love some good gossip” I said smiling while taking her arm and letting her lead me across the room.
After a few hours of light conversation we were interrupted by a certain gentleman. “Eloise, Mama is searching everywhere for you” She let out a groan and rolled her eyes “Tell her I am busy with all of my suitors”. Her brother raised an eyebrow. She leaned closer to me “Excuse me for a moment”. I nodded understanding and offered a smile as she was leaving. “And you are?” he asked me. “Lady Y/N Y/L/N” “Ah the Dukes sister” I nodded. He turned around and as a debutante and her mother approached him he held his hand out for me “A dance Lady Y/N Y/L/N?” “Actually my dance card is-” Before you could finish your sentence he pulled you towards the dancefloor and placed his hand on your waist. “I apologize but I must escape their attention, also my name is Benedict” You chuckled as you went on with the dance. "nice to meet you" “You have already met the delightful company I call my sister” “Eloise seems to be the only likeminded spirit amongst the ton that I have met so far, she is indeed great company” “I see” He said as he noticed my gaze searching for her silhouette among the crowd. As soon as the dance ended I could not get off the dancefloor soon enough. I bowed my head “Thank you for the Dance Mr. Bridgerton” Behind me Eloise appeared and had an annoyed expression plastered over her face. “Has she not informed you that her dance card is full” She asked. I leaned closer to her “Your dear brother would not listen to me”. Eloise took my arm and pulled me along with her while giving Benedict an evil look. “Do not worry dearest I have no Intentions with your brother” I said nudging her slightly as we walked away. She released a breath she was holding and relaxed “Good, It would be a shame to lose you to him”.
The Evening ended sooner than expected and I said my goodbye to Eloise. She invited me for a visit at her house the next day. I was a bit nervous but my brother encouraged me, saying “It is a great opportunity to meet her brothers, I heard one of them is still unmarried”. At least that way I would get to spend some time with Eloise while satisfying my brother and giving him the wrong impression of my true intentions.
————————
The next morning my carriage arrived pretty soon at the residency of the Bridgerton family. A servant greeted me and showed me to the hall. I took a look around and took in the huge house. A servant motioned me to follow him and introduced me to the family. Eloise stormed towards me as soon as I was introduced. “Y/N! It is so good to see you!” She said and took my arm. I smiled at here as she led me inside the room and started introducing me to her siblings “So that is Francesca” She pointed at girl her age sitting at the pianoforte. She offered me a shy smile. “These are Benedict, which you know already and Colin” She said pointing at the sofa located at the other end of the room. She leaned closer to my ear she continued in a whisper “Do not ever ask him about his travels or he will never stop talking to you, it is pure torture”. I looked at her and chuckled. “And this is my little sister Hyacinth and my brother Gregory” She pointed at the kids standing close to us, seeming eager to talk. “Is she the Duke´s sister?” Hyacinth whispered to Gregory. “Yes Hyacinth, she is the Duke´s sister” Eloise clarified with an eye roll. “And we shall go” she said and pulled me out of the room “It was lovely to meet you all” I said while Eloise dragged me across the hall. “Eloise that was quite impolite” I said nudging her side. “They shall survive” She said and smiled at me. Her smile was beautiful and my eyes lingered probably a bit too long on her face. “A great weather for a promenade don´t you think?” she interrupted the silence. “I have not seen what the ton has to offer so far”.
In the Park Eloise told me everything about her siblings and why she was growing tired of living with all of them under one roof. “You need to come to Aubrey Hall with us it is gorgeous” “I can imagine” “I truly envy you” She said while looking down “Why is that?” “One brother, I cannot imagine how quite it must be” “Oh dearest Eloise, I can promise you it is everything but easy and quite” She locked eyes with me “Tell me about your brother” “Well since our papa died and he became Duke, he is insufferable. He used to grant me Freedom and protected me from our parents. He knows I do not desire to marry or to come with child like ever, but my mama has other plans. I am the sister of a Duke after all, I cannot die a spinster. She does not care about what I desire to do with my life” “I am sorry for that” she replied after a relatively long pause. She pulled me closer to her “I do not see the problem with dying a spinster, I find it rather appealing. Nothing is worse than being courted” “exactly” I laughed along with her. “I am glad I met you Eloise, you make my time here worthwhile” “I feel the same way” she looked at me with a smile on her face and I got lost in her beautiful mesmerizing blue eyes.
Tumblr media
As you can probably guess this is not the end. I am planning on making this a longer story so many more parts to come. Also English is not my first language and I am sorry for any mistakes. Anyways, let me know what you think so far

I wish you would write more wag!nico a fic where girl!nico is married to michael but she fucks girl!lewis on the side 😁
a bridgerton inspired au, aka totally devoid of any actual regency customs/historical accuracy. please enjoy!
It is funny now but at the time it had felt like the end of the world.
In just one season, Nico’s life turned up in itself. It all happened in rapid succession. The Queen named Nico, daughter of Earl Rosberg, the diamond of the season. In manners, beauty, and pedigree she was unmatched. But the darker truth remained: the vicious storms that flooded left all her father’s lands upturned, all harvests spoiled – his emerald mining investments had failed, and gambling debt collectors were knocking at the door. Nico’s dowry was astronomical, she was the envy of every young miss and a bag of gold in a dress to every materialistic lordling. And then came the most eligible bachelor of the season: the newly widowed, wealthier than god Duke Schumacher in want of a new wife to secure his heir. It was a match the Queen herself approved. Nico’s opinion on the matter did not. She screamed and cried, she was supposed to be spinsters with Lewis forever on her father’s estate.
It wasn't until the gravity of their family situation which had been concealed to shield her was finally revealed, and the Duke’s promise to her father that he would settle the matter of the debts, that Nico finally relented. Above all else, she was a dutiful daughter. By the end of spring, she was in white to be married. Lewis did not attend the wedding, taking off to sail across the seas with her brother.
And then three years later, Lewis returned. Since locking eyes across the ballroom floor, and feeling her heart sing in a way it has not for so long, they were inseparable, occupied in each other’s minds to care for the stuffy, uppity world around them. Now Lewis has afternoon tea in Nico’s townhouse, sharing womanly vocations trading gossip and scandal, such as how the lady Browning’s oldest child bears a curiously striking resemblance to the gardener instead of the lord Browning.
“Put my sweet to sleep now.” Nico hands off the golden haired bundle of joy after it has finished suckling her breast to her handmaid. She lies back in the sofa, in no haste to fasten her laces, unashamed of the view she makes.
“Motherhood suits you.” Lewis remarks from across from her, at the other end of the sette. Her hair is tucked in the most intricate of braids, adorned in the latest fashions she picked up from France, her skin warm and a most healthy glow; the stunning image of a cosmopolitan, worldly woman.
Nico, by comparison, is tired and pale from having a newborn. “Yes, well. You say that now but when I was fat and round with child…” The maids practically had to force-feed her, while she bursted out of the seams of all her dresses, needing them altered. She lazily traces Lewis’ arm with her foot, thrilled at the touch of skin. It is unbecoming for a lady, for a duchess, but near Lewis she is a giddy maiden, spoiled for touch.
Lewis looks around to ensure no maids are in the drawing room, not a soul around, and then pounces on Nico; practically climbing atop, like they did so many times in their girlhood.
“I would keep you fat and round through ten summers straight if I could. A great big army. And you could not cease to be lovely if you tried.” Lewis whispers into Nico's ear. Her words make Nico’s cunt throb, her ears hot.
Nico pulls Lewis’ mouth inside hers, the place where it first learned how to kiss and thus always hers forever. Lewis pulls the neck of her dress down further, hand cupping Nico’s breast, still sensitive from nursing and fat with milk. Nico bites down on Lewis’ lip when she takes a nipple between two fingers and presses.
Nico’s knee presses in between Lewis’ legs amid her dress. Her pianoforte expertised hand chases under her petticoat, going up higher and higher, clawing her the soft flesh of thigh on the way. She smells intoxicating, like fresh apricot. Nico used the heel of her palm to put pressure and grind on Lewis’ cunt. They get lost in each other’s bodies, falling into a rhythm and soft moans and reluctant break from kissing to breathe pierces the ear.
She was always blessed with sharp ears, and could identity the sound of the carriage on cobblestone signalling her husband’s return home.
By the time her handmaid came to announce the Duke’s presence, Lewis and Nico were sitting at a respectable distance away from each other, not at all disheveled or in a state of half undress. Only the racing of their hearts could give such a sordid secret away.
The Duke is a tall man, taking up more space in a room by his daunting figure and the hard line of his jaw and beady steel blue eyes.
“Miss Hamilton, a pleasure to see you again,” Michael greets Lewis curtly before turning to Nico in German. “Emergency session at parliament, see to it my bags are packed. I shall be heading after dinner.”
“Of course,” Nico simpers, instructing the maids with a simple swish of her hand. She's careful in her tone, in German, while Lewis busies herself with a scone. “When will you be returning?”
“A week, at the least.”
The gears in Nico’s head shift, as she switches to English. “Husband, would it be possible to spare a carriage so Lewis can make way to her aunt’s house whom she is staying with? She would need to leave immediately to make it to town before sunset.”
A muscle switches on Michael’s handsome face. Nico provoked it on purpose, to send an unchaperoned lady away in the dark hours of the night at the Duke’s expense.
“Nonsense, miss Hamilton is our guest. In fact, I would insist she stay until I return. Give you two time to catch up on your bosom friendship.” Michael replies. His words may be sweet, but Nico knows after lady Browning’s scandal, Michael has been reluctant to leave Nico in his charge of his estate. Their gardener has not shown up for weeks, weeds growing overflown, and Nico is quite certain the new estate guards are eunuchs although she does not care enough to check.
With Lewis staying as a guest of the Schumacher’s, Michael can rest easy knowing Nico would not dare to bring another man to warm her bed.
“That is a most kind invitation. We do have much catching up to do.” Lewis smiles.
Her husband said nothing about another woman to warm her long, lonely nights.
