I watched Blade Runner 2049 for the first time tonight, and this scene stood out.

"Being asked personal questions" by someone you've just met, especially someone you've just met who is trying to decide if you're human enough to have rights, is not "invigorating", in my experience. It doesn't make me "feel desired".

But it seems to be the sort of thing (cishet) men think, and maybe what they think women would/should think. And Luv is a replicant, made by (and for) a man. This made a lot of the Blade Runner world building click for me: the "female" replicants' behaviour patterns have been designed by men based on their perceptions/desires of women, not on real women.

The final still really clinches it for me: Luv asks K a personal question, to make him feel desired, even though he's a replicant - because that is the role of "female" replicants, and the behaviour she's been programmed with: to make men feel desired.

they were actually supposed to be revealed to be “Rednic” (the character very briefly mentioned in RE8) before i thought more about them and just made them a smuggler similar to Rednic :^)

buuut, Miranda needed someone who was able and willing to be her “spy” that could come and go from the village as they pleased, and thus, she also fucked up their experiment, but it was done in a way they gained some of the abilities and retained their sentience

anyways, they’re just a double agent for Miranda and Lady Dimitrescu :-) they work to provide the Dimitrescus with virgins (people (women) outside the village), but also work with Miranda to further her own goals !

Who among you are old enough to remember the "It's 10pm, do you know where your children are?" reminders on TV?

That was probably necessary at the very beginning of the exchange program. Diavolo or Barbatos would have to send out text messages every day. "It's 10pm. Do you know where your human exchange student is?"

You could be doing homework in your room in the House of Lamentation when at ten o'clock on the dot you hear loud swearing and footsteps. Mammon barges in to check that you're there. The others coolly walk by and peek in just to double-check. Every single night.

if i see someone else whining about how the fight with chimera was too short, anticlimactic and generally pathetic, i will punch a wall.

i present you the lightning thief, chapter 13 'i plunge to my death', the chimera "fight":

i highlighted the parts when percy does anything, but when you take a closer look, it's mostly dodging, and most definitely not actually fighting. because that's just what this particular fragment looks: percy is scared, he doesn't know how to act, barely does anything and then takes the leap. that's it. short and amateurish.

and when you carefully read through percy's fights in tlt, you'll see he either gets lucky or, more or less consciously, uses water. when he fought with luke during training, he suddenly won after he splashed his head with water - before that, he wasn't much better than anyone else. the same with clarisse, he starts getting advantage when he accidentally enters the stream.

which makes sense.

percy is literally 12 years old. twelve. in the book, he has 2 weeks of training before the quest begins. in the show? probably like 2 days. yes, he becomes a good and a smart swordsman, but people seem to forget that it took him time to master his skills, as it would for anyone.

So glad to have the language of "identity determinism" now, because it negatively influences trans spaces so heavily. It's where we see narratives like "being a trans man means you were afab, you were raised to be feminine, you want to transition to look like a cis man, and you have male privilege." Sure, that describes a lot of trans men. But gender and identity are complicated. People can be intersex, be raised in an unusual environment, be gnc, be non-passing, etc. Your identity does not determine everything you've been through or how others, especially bigots, perceive and treat you, and believing it does causes a lot of harm. Leave it up to the person to tell you what their experiences are; you cannot simply assume it from their identity.

This year, I went to two local pride events. It was great, but in both events I noticed something: there was almost no aromantic representation. There were plenty of flags for sale, as well as colored merch and stickers, encompassing a wide range of identities. Not ONE of them was aromantic. The flag banners they'd put up, with a bunch of different LGBTQ+ flags? No aromantic. However, there was an asexual flag as well as other items for sale, which was part of the reason I was surprised by the lack of aromantic flags and other merchandise.

I'm not saying the asexual representation is bad; it's great! It's the lack of representation for aromanticism that is problematic. I'm aroace. I was pissed as HELL because I felt that half of me was underrepresented. I can't imagine how excluded allosexual arospec folk would have felt to know that they had all but been completely erased. The A in LGBTQIA doesn't just stand for asexual; it's for aromantic and agender (which I also noted had no representation) too.

The only mention of aromanticism at all in both pride events was a brief, easy to overlook touch on it at a few stalls. Pride is meant to be inclusive to all. To ALL. Not ALLOROMANTICS ONLY. ALL.

I'm aromantic. I'm not just ace. It took me years to figure out that I was also aromantic, but it doesn't actually make a difference. If I can only find my asexuality shown at pride events then things need to change.

I am aromantic. I'd like for that part of me to be represented. I DEMAND that part of me to be represented.
