Thinking about Krile.
Krile, who woke up one day from a coma to find that she was alone in the world. Who lost her home, her colleagues, her friends, the legacy of her grandfather, all in an instant. Who found out that the gift that she'd cursed for half her life saved her, and no one else. Who thought that maybe, at least her childhood friend and her dearest friend, both in distant Eorzea, might be safe and alive. Who received nothing but silence from either of them. And found out one day, months later, years later, that neither of them were ever coming back.
Krile, who continued on more alone in the world than ever before with nothing but a smile.
(Krile, who we didn't even get to see take a moment to hear about or process the fact that G'raha shut himself in a tower to sleep maybe forever without so much as a goodbye.)
(Krile, who learned that her dearest friend Minfilia was gone forever and simply carried on with a smile because there was work to be done. Much like Minfilia carried on with a smile when she heard her dearest friend Krile was in a coma. Because there was work to do. And to think, Minfilia never got to find out that Krile was all right.)

I don't think we've ever thoroughly unpacked how messed up the way Heimerdinger "comforted" Viktor. The only thing that Heimerdinger could really say is that the "brightest stars burn the fastest", but that's not what's going on here.
Viktor's dying from an unnatural cause!!! He's been poisoned by gas from the mines Piltover excavated in Zaun. This isn't a tragedy caused by random chance, Viktor's condition was done to him by Piltover, by Heimerdinger!
Heimerdinger is essentially comforting his own victim, and he tells Viktor that his death is just the way things are, as if there's no responsible parties involved except fate itself. I wonder if Viktor thought about this himself while Heimerdinger was talking to him. What a truly genuinely awful moment for him to sit through.

Enter the Crow King, merry wanderer of the night.
He's a little charmer, even when your best mate has captured and jailed one of his crows! He wants you to stick around for a bit longer, though...
@i-am-as-normal-as-you-are commissioned this one, of course! You guys have been waiting for Monty for so long that I feel like I would never have gotten around to drawing him without some help lol
(@m0scorner I stole your gloves. They're just perfect)
Bonus dreamling, because you know the Crow King is stealing that aesthetic:

Hello - I was impressed and extremely relieved by what you wrote in the post about the cult mentality of the Left RE Israel and accusations of genocide. You mentioned that you bought into the mindset until recently. If it's all right for me to ask, what was it that helped you break out of it? (Please feel free to delete/ignore if you'd rather not answer!)
thank you!! and no worries about asking— i think i put something in my pinned post about how people are welcome to send asks about this stuff, although my story isn’t super interesting. i fell down the typical online rabbithole, a couple weeks after october 7; i knew what had happened, at least vaguely, but the posts trickling onto my dash were all about the (undeniably tragic) loss of life in gaza, with little to no acknowledgment of the hamas atrocities that had started the war, so my narrative was pretty one-sided from the beginning. it just continued to snowball as the months went on and people became more radicalized, calling into question the reality of the 10/7 attacks and the humanity of all israelis. i never went all the way down the pipeline to full-on endorsing hamas or justifying their attacks, at least on a personal level, thank god, but i would reblog other people’s posts referring to hamas as a ā€œresistance movementā€ and calls to boycott starbucks and mcdonald’s and condemnation of the ā€œzionist mediaā€ etc etc etc. what pulled me out of it wasn’t any one thing— if someone had directly called me on my flawed logic and antisemitic biases while i was in this mindset, i doubt it would have done much, just reinforced my belief that i was on the ā€œright side of historyā€ and zionists were aggressors who couldn’t be reasoned with. it was mostly just passive observance and a slow exposure to other perspectives. i’m pretty sure the first post that led me to question my thinking was an ask on jewish-vents, which popped up on my dash in like, late july. this led me down another rabbithole, first scouring every single post on jewish-vents, then moving on to more popular jewish blogs that i had seen on ā€œzionist blocklistsā€ (applesauce42069, xclowniex, and spacelazarwolf were probably some of the blogs that influenced me the most, though i told myself i was just hate-scrolling at first, lol). i felt incredibly guilty seeing all the harm the movement i was a part of had caused to random jews and israelis just trying to live their lives and i realized how it went against everything i believed about how minority groups should be treated. from there, the aspect of actually undoing my thinking and changing my behavior for the better still took several weeks. denial of jewish indigenity to the levant in the face of tantamount archeological and cultural evidence was the first to go, as well as any ambiguity in my feelings about hamas. after that, it’s mostly been a slow process of redefining the idf’s actions from a ā€œgenocideā€ to a ā€œwar.ā€ i still believe that what’s happening in gaza is unconscionable and horrific, and that too many innocent civilians have died, but i also understand how difficult it is to fight against a terrorist group that systematically embeds itself in civilian populations, and that the ratio of militant to civilian deaths is incredibly low compared to most urban warfare. i quietly deleted my old blog in early august— if i had directly engaged in harassment against jews, i likely would have kept it to make amends to the harmed parties and put a face to my actions, but as was, i had just contributed to the larger atmosphere of antisemitism on this site, and i felt uncomfortable knowing that i had a blog full of sentiments that no longer matched my values and beliefs. i decided i would be better if i took my endorsement out of the equation entirely, because when you’re looking through the notes of a post, it obviously doesn’t matter if someone who’s reblogged it no longer agrees with what was said— their notes still count as tacit approval, and i did not want approval of this ā€œactivismā€ attached to my online presence. i still have unwanted kneejerk reactions that crop up sometimes, particularly around the fundraiser posts from people ā€œin gazaā€; even though i know logically that they have all the markers of scams, there is still a part of me that really wants to believe i could help.

Saw someone say on twitter ā€žluke experienced subdrop and needed aftercareā€œ and I haven’t stopped thinking about this video/interview/comment bc I REALLY hope the producers are aware how much their actors are doing for this show and are taking proper care of them (e.g. having competent intimacy coordinators).

Loki and the Deeply Valid Fear of Being a Government-Issued Android Without Knowing It
Imagine living for over a thousand years, committing intergalactic crimes, then one random underpaid TVA clerk with a monotone voice suddenly introduces the possibility that, oh, by the way, what if you were secretly a robot this whole time? And Loki, who has always carried himself with the absolute certainty of a god, pauses. Like. ā€œWait. What if I am?ā€
He hears that question and immediately does a full mental diagnostic. Have I ever glitched? Ever felt oddly mechanical? Experienced an unusual fondness for oil? Maybe he’s too good at lying. Too good at surviving. What if that’s just the programming?
The TVA worker just moves on. He doesn’t elaborate. no reassurances. theres no safety net. Just the terrifying possibility that he might get instantly vaporized for something completely outside his control.
Id like to note, his hesitation isn’t even just some random existential crisis, it’s trauma-informed. This man already lived through the experience of waking up one day and realizing he wasn’t who he thought he was.
He grew up thinking he was a prince, a god, Odin’s rightful son, only to find out he was actually a stolen relic of war. A Jotun. A creature he’d been taught to hate.
He thought he knew himself before, and he was wrong. What if he’s wrong again? What if theres something else about himself thats been hidden? If he didn’t realize he was a Frost Giant, whats stopping him from not realizing he’s actually some highly advanced synthetic being?
It’s not just a funny existential gag, it’s a callback to one of the most devastating truths of Loki’s existence:
He has never really known who he is.
It’s the muscle memory of having his entire identity ripped out from under him. It’s the learned fear of asking, What am I, actually?
Because the last time he asked that question, the answer ruined him.

Quick question
How do you plan your comics? Do you do storyboards or something?
Im trying to get working on one and idk where to start-
I use a mix of a few things.
Typically a sketch ideas and scenes first and then I write them down.
So that scene in Aliens and Mysteries when Raph’s talking to his brothers in bed was a storyboard-style sketch I made:
Tumblr media
I make tons of these for both scenes that are just jokes and scenes I plan to incorporate into the story. Usually, when I have a bunch of these and other ideas swirling around in my head, I’ll start sorting them by canon importance and most structurally important, funny, or interesting. Those ones get added and arranged into the chapter list in chronological order like this:
Tumblr media
(Note that this is not a comprehensive list of future chapters, many will be renamed, deleted, shifted and/or new ones will be added)
Then about one week to a day before I start drawing the next chapter I write it out in full detail so I don’t get lost mid chapter and know what to include. Here’s the paragraph that the above sketch turned into:
Tumblr media
This screen-shot is from the document that contains both important information about the world and every episode in this format.
And then of course, when it comes time for the episode, it turns into this:
Tumblr media
I think my planning style is a little…uh, fluid? It’s very common that the actual comic will deviate slightly from the written chapter. This happens most while planning out the panels; I get a bunch of new better ideas for how it should go and add them in. I usually try to keep the written chapter outlines a little on the vague-er side for that reason.
It’s also worth noting that this is the most common way I plan out stories, sometimes steps get mixed up or skipped or just spawn out of nowhere. It’s a disaster, really, but the final product is pretty good so I don’t question it 🤣
Some people prefer a much more concrete approach to writing, others prefer an even less structured approach. All depends on how your creative thrives and where on the scale of ADHD to OCD spectrum you land šŸ˜‚ (joking)
This is how I do for the most part, hopefully this helps you? I wish you luck in story writing! ^v^
Good question! :]
