Summer | Middle-of-Nowhere, Germany | 13:01 PM
A red Alfa Romeo Spider drove down bending and twisting country roads before they turned to dirt and gravel. The roof was open, your hair blowing away in the wind from underneath your sunhat. The sun was warm against your skin as you changed gears and parked the car behind a wall of trees before grabbing your leather bag from the boot of the car and slinging it over your shoulder.
With a slam and a beep, the car lights dimmed and you trekked through the rocky terrain before entering an opening in the trees, a small pond sat in the middle, a pair of ducks swimming and ruffling their feathers in the shallow waters as you knelt down behind a fallen tree and zipped open your gear.
A few cicadas hummed in your ears as your forrest green pants became brown at the knees from the wet earth. The bottom of your designer boots ruined but you couldn't find it in yourself to wince, knowing how easy it would be to just buy a new pair when you arrived back to your hotel room.
Taking off your sun glasses, allowing them to hang from the unbuttoned portion of your creme shirt before sorting through the bag, you pulled out various 3D printed pieces of a medium-distance rifle and laid them out atop the log.
Attaching the grip to the slide with a satisfying click, you twisted on the barrel and flicked back the safety on the gun before lifting it up to look down the sights and pulled back the trigger. You could hear the scream of the bullet and the muffled bag ringing through your bones as you brought the handle back to your chest, observing your skewed shot with a grunt.
Flicking the safety back on, you pulled out a roll of leather that held your tools all nicely in a line as you tinkered with the finishes that matched the diagram floating through your head. Standing up and reading yourself for another shot, your squinted your eyes to a branch threatening to fall before taking aim, flicking back the safety, and firing... bullseye.
The branch crashed, the ducks from earlier taking upwards and into the clear blue skies as the cranked your head to the side, pondering for a moment before tucking the empty gun into the back waist of your pants.
You grabbed and built the remainder of the weapons you wanted to test this afternoon ahead of your biggest mission yet in Munich. You never would have thought this to be your future, setting up an illegal firing range and testing not-to-code weaponry in the middle of a field in Germany but you were left with little choices as your husband divorced you, your family not wanting anything to do you- and it seemed that MI6 had the same thoughts. Abandoning you in the Middle East back in the early two thousands.
You work with a silent rage, eye twitching as you remember calling out from your microphone only to receive a soft apology from your handler, and then nothing... left stranded in the middle of a desert.
You remember stripping yourself of your badges, your gear, and only carrying what food and water your could carry with a small handgun hidden beneath your ripped shirt. You let your past self die in that desert, stealing from house to house, and hitchhiking, pleading and acting like your were some kidnapped tourist.
You could only scoff once reading the headlines of your platoon being "dead" when you hacked into their servers a few weeks later as you started taking on private work. The document read that you, weapons engineer and expert were "missing" and consequently, all your brothers and sisters had all died from a failed mission and planted IED. But you knew the truth... They left me out there to die. And ever since then, you worked for only yourself, and not even your morals- whatever it takes, you reminded yourself, firing off shot after shot, sweat dripping off your temples and soaking into your shirt, whatever it takes.

Meanwhile in Munich, Germany...
Alexander sat on the couch within his hotel room, all the blinds closed, stopping the daylight from entering the room besides a few strands coming from the gaps, casting horizontal lines across his form.
He wore a simple tan linen suit to account for the warming temperatures, a handkerchief wrapped around his neck for an added flair. A pair of tasteful leather loafers on his feet to match his belt, his hair combed back into subtle waves as he squinted at the laptop screen, reading over a report he had requested from an old contact that read:
"Callsign: Veil. Known for having "many-faces;" master of disguise, manipulation, and seduction. Ex-military weapons engineer and weapons expert. Presumed Dead: Cause of Death: IED."
Alexander scoffed after reading that last sentence, he knew you to be alive, saw it himself when he too was running through the desert after killing his own team, leaving only his spotter alive to survive alongside side him. Duggan needed you, your expertise and abilities if he was to succeed on this next mission, one that could potentially set him up for life...
He was obsessed with finding you for weeks up until today, stalking any minuscule fault you made. Dressing up as cleaning staff and butlers to get even a potential glimpse of one of your many faces as he pinned-pointed and tracked each identity you used. And how did, the Jackal, know these people to be you? One may ask... well, the Jackal smiled to himself, finger tracing over your covered face as you cosplayed as lawyer within the airport footage. A suitcase in your hand that he smirked at before looking at his matching one, knowing the work to be your own that his current employer gifted him.
You two had worked alongside one another many years ago when you both were in training and served.
CHAT ROOM OPENED:
"$*^4^78&" said: 2005, Platoon 274, Palm Hotel. Trust. Business Opportunity.
Now all that was left to do... was wait. Something that the Jackal was exceptional at, but when it came to you, he could be described as most anxious for those who had the pleasure of viewing it beneath the five layers of coldness he hardened his features into.

Your newest weaponry had worked beautifully, seven clear shots all placed right between the eyes as you walked through the crowd of running and screaming museum goers from the charity event as best as you could in your nine-inch heels.
Your deep blue silk dress carrying after you as the cold night air kissed the skin of your leg through the slit. The shawl you wore covered the wound you sustained when pushed onto a pile of glass shards. You held a panicked face, looking around as you followed the various officers yelling out directions and walked back to a nearby hotel room, the staff offering their condolences and not even taking a second look as you stepped into the elevator and broke into a random room on one of the upper floors you thought to be empty thanks to the cleaning cart blocking the doorway.
And the room was barren, blinds down and not a single item used or removed, perfect. Locking the door behind yourself, you flicked on the bathroom light and began removing parts of your prosthetic cheek "implants" and lips. The wig you wore discarded as you washed your face clean and felt around for a hand towel. Fingertips gracing the soft material you pressed it to your face, make-up smearing onto the white before looking up through the foggy mirror to find another standing just beside you, meeting your eyes through the reflection.
Instantly you hook your foot around their ankle yet feeling themself falling they pull your arm down with them as you both crash onto the tiled for. You make no reaction, watching as the mans face slams against the marble as you hike your leg over his waist and press your hands around his neck. He grabs your hips tightly, trying to throw you off as he starts to cough yet you squeeze your thighs tighter together as he curses and groans before pushing to the side- rolling you underneath him as he pins your hands above your head with a glare.
Mascara dripped down your eyes, lipstick smeared and cheeks warming, you spit at his face only for him to wipe it off with a cheeky grin by the back of his suit. "Civilized aren't you?" the man belittles you as you scoff in return.
"Let go of me," you do not plead yet demand, baring your teeth, eyes sharp as he leans down closer to your face. "Are you willing to talk?"
"Depends, you'll have to let go first to see," you counter, trying to blow the hair out of your face as they reach down to tuck it behind your ear- you shiver in disgust. "And why would I do that, knowing someone like yourself?" He tilts his head slightly, eyes searching your own, awaiting your response with sick eagerness that makes you feel sick to your stomach.
"And just who am I?" you ask, giving him an equal stare as you feel the grip on your wrists slightly loosening but before you can move, he places more of his bodyweight atop you, keeping you in place.
"Veil," he says as if an obvious thing like the weather, "weapons-smith, master engineer, ex-MI6..." he rattles off your resume off-the-top of his head as you furrow your brows, they must have been- or are a high officer, you think to yourself, knowing your files to still be accessible to a degree but what shocks you to your core is his next words, "...and 2005, Platoon 274, Palm Hotel, it's been quite the show, watching you, and is an equal delight seeing you this close." You shiver.
For once in your life, you are greatly disturbed, stopping all your sudden movements as you take in his appearance, trying to analyze and pick apart his image before he takes your chin, forcing you to look up at him. "Now, I'm going to ask again. Are you going to behave if I let go? Or must I strap you to a chair for your own wellbeing?"
You let out a deep sigh before batting your eyelashes and putting on a soft smile, "You know, I don't remember the last time I had a man on me. I wouldn't mind staying like this," you tease, offering a small giggle. Alexander hums, "Is that so, well then let us get comfortable..."
With every play you put on, he follows along, casting the line that much further from the shore. A competition of play happens between the two of you, switching between characters, accents and languages. Breaths becoming ragged before he lets you go.
You lie there for a minute, trying to catch your breath before looking up at him and taking his extended hand. Feeling a bit dizzy, you wobble in your shoes as Alexander stabilizes you, leading you towards the couch as you settle yourself, carefully observing his every movement as he pulls a suitcase you instantly recognize to be a work of your own.
Feeling your stare he calls from over his shoulder, "I am a man in awe of your talents." And in that moment a memory flickers over your vision, a young man with dusty hair and sun-kissed cheeks. Camouflage prints running up muscled arms and legs- you shake your head awake. Squinting at the man before you as he stands, suitcase in hands looking down at you.
"Cat got your tongue- hm?" the graduate of your sniping school year presses. "fuck you, Alex," is all you can spit out as you sort thought the onslaught of thoughts as your hands rip the luggage from his hands.
Alex takes a seat beside you, arm casting over the back of the couch, fingers just barley touching your shoulder as you tinker and fix the weaponry before you. You feel his stare as you silently work, dropping a screw by his next carefully chosen words, "good to see you again, (first/name) (last/name). My favourite face of them all."
You glare down at the screw, working your hands around the furnishings to fish it out before carrying on as if nothing happened. "How would you feel about a business opportunity?" You pause your work once more with a huff, annoyance growing as your shoulders rise and you cast a glare his direction.
"I'll stop here if you are not going to pay me for my work here-"
"Not even a deal for an old friend-"
"Alexander" you growl out his name, hating the way he smiles every time you say his name.
"Yes, you'll get payed for this busywork and for a new job, if you'll take it."
"What is it?"
"How does a quarter of a billion sound?"
"Perfect."

The Heathers + Veronica play Pokemon
I'm still working on the follow up to the Road Trip which is The Heathers + Veronica get Married, so in the meantime I made this
Mac has been a fan of Pokemon as long as she can remember
When her mom would stick in her front of the TV because she was tired of dealing with her, she would turn the channel to Cartoon Network, which was often playing episodes of the Pokemon Anime
Specifically it was the Black/White series and later the X/Y series
She was engrossed in this magical world where she could go on adventures with friends and her pokemon companions and where the power of friendship would always prevail
Plus Ash's mom was a kind caring person who wanted the best for her son, literally the exact opposite of her mom
She became hyperfixated on it
During class she would draw pictures of pokemon, she would daydream of being a pokemon trainer and during recess she would force Chandler to play pokemon with her
She even had a book called Pokemon; The Essential Guide, which she read so often that she could recall it from memory
Eventually after much begging Mac's mom eventually said 'If it will get you to shut the fuck up' and bought Mac a 3DS with X and Y and Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
She blitzed through these games, playing them whenever she had a second that she didn't have to be doing anything else
Even when Chandler would come over to hang out Mac would just not acknowledge her existence and just keep playing
Her obsession started to really bother Chandler, she just wanted to spend time with her best friend, and she was spending all of her time on this stupid Chinese monster game!
She tried to not-so-gently tell Mac to put the stupid game away and hang out with her but Mac got upset so she reluctantly dropped it
Eventually Mac finished all of the games and wasn't so fixated on them, but she still played them a lot
She would even sneak it into school and play it at lunch
Of course, the more popular students saw it and started to make fun of her for it, calling her a baby and a nerd
One of them even tried grabbing the 3DS, causing it to bump into the lunch table and creating a small dent in the corner
This caused Mac to start crying, which only increased the taunts against her
Chandler, who up to that point had been telling Mac to just ignore it, launched into a fit of rage, beating the ever loving shit out of the bullies
Both her and Mac got suspended, her for obvious reasons and Mac for brining the 3DS to school
The bullies played dumb and because they were popular and well-liked they got off scot-free
That was one of many events that made Chandler realize that for her and Mac to survive school, they would have to be the popular ones
With the time she had while suspended, Chandler had time to think about how she was treating Mac and her newfound love for pokemon
She realized that she was being an awful friend, she wanted Mac to stop doing something she loves just so she could get what she wanted
She thought about how when Mac would try and talk to her about the game and what she was doing, trying to include her while she played, and how she just ignored it because she wasn't interested, not even considering how it would hurt Mac to realize that her best friend doesn't care about the things she likes and wouldn't even pretend to care
She realized that she would have to make it up to her
While her parents were sleeping she went down, found their credit cards, and went to amazon and searched for 'Pokemon'
Chandler knows she's not the best with words, she knows that if she tried to apologize to Mac she wouldn't be able to convey everything that she wanted to, and even worse she might say something wrong and only upset her more
Knowing that, she decided to make it up to her by doing what she knows how to do, and that's buying things
She searched the amazon pages, seeing cards, various toys, some really nasty posters with something called a Vaporeon? before finding the plushies
She knows that Mac likes those, so she picked some of the ones she recognized and ordered them
Luckily for her, her parents were so fucking rich that they didn't notice a few bucks missing
A few days later, once the package arrived, she went over to Mac's house to apologize
Mac was still really upset, not only was she suspended from school, but her mom was angry at her and lets just say that if you thought her mom was a bitch normally, she was even worse when angry
She went into her room, hiding the plushes behind her back
Mac was lying in bed, staring at the wall, not even acknowledging her presence
Chandler tried telling her that she wanted to apologize but before she could even show the plushes Mac started shouting
She yelled about how awful her mom was and that she took away her games and threatened to smash them with a hammer
Before Chandler could even get a word of condolence in Mac continued about how she knows when they go back to school things are gonna be even worse because those kids are gonna spread rumors about them
And again before Chandler can say a word Mac says that on top of all of that her best friend has been distant ever since she started liking pokemon and she's terrified that she's gonna lose her over it and she doesn't wanna lose her she's the best friend she's ever had and and
She starts sobbing
Chandler quickly rushes over to Mac, pulling her into a hug while she sobs into her shoulder
Once she calms down Chandler shows her the plushies, upon which Mac squeals in delight before hugging her and saying thank you thank you thank you, before they talk about what transpired
Chandler apologizes, saying that Mac was right and that she was being distant, but that was in the past and she would change and would listen when she talked about pokemon
It wasn't a great apology by any means, but it was good enough for Mac, and she pulled up Cartoon Network and made Chandler watch a bunch of episodes of the anime with her
She didn't really get it or find it all that interesting, but she knew how much it meant to Mac that she do this with her, so she asked some questions and listened when Mac went on tangents about aspects of the world
Throughout the years, Mac continued to love and play Pokemon
It toned down over time, as most childhood obsessions do, but she still never stopped loving it
She stopped playing all-together around when Sword/Shield came out, it was around when they started to become really popular and so Chandler made them drop any nerdish hobbies that could be used to ridicule them
Mac was ok with it because that was when Dexit happened and she was really upset that she wouldn't be able to transfer her previous teams to the newest generation
But then Veronica joined the Heathers, Mac and Chandler's relationship expanded to include Duke and Veronica, high school ended and popularity didn't mean a thing anymore, so Mac was free to pick up Pokemon again
It took her a while to get over Dexit (she was really upset that she couldn't bring her Delphox into Sword/Shield, it was her first pokemon damnit!) but she eventually did
It was around this time that Scarlet/Violet were about to come out and the hype was real
Duke is in the same boat as Chandler, she doesn't really get it but Mac loves it so she'll go along with it, but Veronica is only slightly less into it than Mac
She was similar to Mac, playing up until Sword/Shield and then stopping due to Dexit and a lack of interest, but bc she wasn't popular there wasn't the pressure to stop playing entirely, and once the DLC came out she became interested once again and picked up the games
She had a lot of fun teaching Mac about the gen 8 stuff, and they played and battled together while waiting for Scarlet/Violet to come out
**Line Break**
The day it came out they woke up at some ridiculous hour and waited outside Gamestop for hours in the dark and freezing temperatures until the store opened
There wasn't even anyone else waiting and they had pre-ordered copies, there was literally no reason to do it, they were just that excited
Mac got Scarlet and Veronica got Violet so they would be able to trade with the other for the version exclusives
Mac told her Dad that she wasn't coming in today and Veronica is self-employed, so they both spend the entire day playing the game
Eventually Chandler takes their switches and forces them to go to bed because "you two fucks have been playing this game for 14 hours straight with no breaks. Go. The Fuck. To. Bed."
They did go to bed, but they got up at 4am to keep playing
Chandler was about to ground them like children if they didn't put up the game for 5 minutes to eat something and take a shower, but Duke stepped in and said she would talk to them about maybe slowing down a little
Chandler waits for Duke to come back and let her know how it went
She waits, and waits, and waits some more, until she has had enough and goes out to the living room to see whats taking her so long
Duke is laying on the couch with them, her own switch in hand
During the time Chandler waited, Duke went down, tried talking to them only to see them having fun, asked a few questions, got super interested and forgot about why she went down there, got so interested that she went to the store, bought a switch and a game, and came back and started playing
Chandler is about to start beating her head against the wall
The three of them try for months and months to get her to actually play it, but she just isn't that interested
They need a fourth person for raids, and the only other person they know who plays is JD but he does le epic troll and will do stupid shit like bringing a Mewtwo knowing only metronome
Veronica eventually wins her over by appealing to her massive ego, saying that the whole point of the game is becoming better at everyone else, and that if she play she could eventually beat them too
Between that, Mac's puppy-dog eyes, and her getting tired of the relentless begging, she eventually picks up a game and starts playing
She gets more into it than Mac ever was or is
What draws her in is the sheer amount of different strategy that is available to her
There are just so many different pokemon, each of which has multiple different strategies that work for them, not to mention items and movesets and all of that
She thought pokemon was rather simple, but there was much more depth than she could've even imagined, and she gets lost in it
She blitzes not only through Scarlet/Violet and their DLC (She got both, she had to have access to every pokemon and you can't just do that in one version) but also Sword/Shield + DLC and Legends Arceus
And when it finally came time for them to battle, Chandler wiped the floor with the rest of them, it wasn't even close
It was so one-sided that it wasn't fun for the rest of them
Chandler sees this and starts to feel bad, she knows that she overdoes things sometimes, especially when her pride is on the line
She thinks about toning it down so they're on a more even playing field, but she doesn't think her fiancees would have fun winning if they knew that she was essentially allowing them to win
So instead on a lazy day she sits down with them and explains the basics of competitive battling, that way they'll all be on an even playing field
It works, and now when they battle together there's a chance for any of them to win
Now I'm just gonna go over some of their favorites about pokemon
Chandler
Game: B2W2, she loves the PWT and the strategy needed to beat the Champion's Cup
Pokemon: Blaziken, when she played ORAS she fell in love with Mega Blaziken, Speed Boost, and just how good it was
Part about Pokemon: Definitely strategy, its what drew her into the franchise in the first place. She loves trying out new and different strategies, and follows the VCG to keep up to date with all the newest ideas being put out
Duke
Game: USUM, it was the last game to have the National Dex, and so it was the game to contain the most pokemon in it
Pokemon: Sceptile, she just thinks that it's really cool. Plus its a lizard, and she loves lizards and has tried to convince Chandler to let her get a Madagascar Giant Day Gecko
Chandler can barely stand the snake so there's no way in hell that she will ever agree to getting a gecko, plus they're really creepy
Part about Pokemon: Collecting/Catching Pokemon, she loves completing Pokedexes, and its why she was so upset when she found out about dexit, there was less to collect and evolve
Mac
Game: XY, it was her first game, and even if it isn't the best game in the series, it holds a lot of nostalgia for her
Pokemon: Ampharos, she loves the entire line
She thinks Mareep is just sooooo cute, he's a tiny little sheep and he's so flufffffffy
She had one on her first ever playthough team and she was able to get a mega stone for it so it could mega evolve
She thinks the mega is just so ridiculous and it's a dragon?? but that's why she loves it so much
Plus, one of the first gifts Duke ever got for her when they started their relationship was a Mareep plush (Chandler gave her some pointers on what Mac would like)
She keeps it at a place of honor on her shelf and often sleeps with it
Part of Pokemon: Bonding with the Pokemon, she loves all the little minigames like Refresh and Amie where you can brush and pet and feed your pokemon
And even though she knows they're just lines of code, she does feel like she bonds with her Pokemon as she goes along a journey with them
Veronica
Game: SV, she has fond memories of her and Mac playing it when it came out, memories which she treasures dearly
Pokemon: Blastoise, to her its a perfect pokemon. It's simple yet effective, its a cute turtle that becomes a big turtle with freakin cannons on its back
Part of Pokemon: The interconnectivity. She loves battling and trading with her fiancees and just being able to bond with them over it, its something they can all do together that they all enjoy
Just kidding, she loves the cards
She is fucking addicted to opening cards, the Heathers have to drag her away from the card section every time they go to the store
JD enables it, him and Veronica will go buy packs and slushies and just sit and open them
She has boxes and boxes of commons sitting in her room that she refuses to get rid of

Thank you for the ask! Ooh I'm happy to be tagged/sent chain-letter things, though sometimes I might I miss one or take a while to answer. Ok so I’ve been going back and forth over this for a few weeks, because I’ve written far more than I ever thought I would and it’s really, really hard to pick favourites!
I’m really sorry for the delay, but here are 5 of my Sandman fic self recs:
Baiting the Trap – Corintheus oneshot. I feel like this one was almost a given, it’s the fic that started it all, and as much as I remember spending weeks and weeks agonising over whether to post it I had a lot of fun writing it. Still the fic I’m most known for I think! I feel a little self-conscious recommending my own work (and to be honest I spent far too long trying to word a description of this fic!) but this is essentially Dream choosing not to destroy the Corinthian after the Convention. Think Dream deigning to play a game of 3D chess with his nightmare for the very first time, but in a sexy way, and the Corinthian thinking he’s winning right up to the final move…also in a sexy way.
Deliverance – Corintheus again, currently 5/6 chapters. Season one AU where the Corinthian’s curiosity gets the better of him and he visits Dream while he’s trapped by Burgess and ends up breaking him out. He’s quite pissed off about it too. We get a love confession, a trip to the Dreaming, and then a Corintheus version of Dream’s quest to retrieve his tools. A little bit soft, a little bit angsty, with the Corinthian’s unique mix of love, rage and possessiveness shining through in varying degrees. I almost didn’t rec this as it’s incomplete but I am very very fond of it! The last chapter is very nearly finished, I just need to sit down and really work through it.
Astronomers – Lucienne/Dream oneshot. A ficlet based on a prompt from @bobbole. Soft and sweet, filled with mutual devotion. I adore the relationship between these two and there are some fascinating parallels I’d been itching to explore. I think they are the same flavour of workaholic just in different species—both proud characters with incredible dedication to the Dreaming, and to each other, and I wanted to capture the intimacy of their relationship. The sheer depth to it is portrayed so well in the show. Ahh I need to write more for them!
Lead the Way – Orpheus & Dream, one of two one shots I’ve written for them and it was very hard to choose! This was another fantastic prompt from bobbole. It’s a human AU where Dream is teaching Orpheus how to cross the road, which can be very daunting to a child. Sweet family fluff, Dream’s meticulous approach to even the simplest of things. This one is very special to me because it’s inspired by a real memory from my childhood, so I hope you enjoy it if you do give it a read! I really wish I could draw because the image of little Orpheus holding Dream’s hand as they wait to cross the road is adorable.
A slow advancing tide – let’s end on more Corintheus shall we! 4/4 chapters, a gift for @aisalynn. 5+1 fic where either the Corinthian or Dream end up nearly unconscious while in the others company. It definitely has some of my favourite prose, as well as exploring one of my favourite tropes. The Corinthian all relaxed and dazed flirting with Dream after a punishment? Dream high af for (spoilery) reasons and refusing to keep his hands to himself? So much fun to write! I always love scenarios where I can explore how powerful characters act in moments of vulnerability, though anyone whose read my work probably knows my approach to it tends to be unexpected.
Again, thank you for the ask!! This has definitely reminded me how lucky I am to have such incredible friends who've sent me such amazing prompts (though I’ve also got a fair few still unfinished, which I feel really bad about because I love writing for prompts and you’ve all been so kind to indulge me!). It’s been a bit of a slow year, but hopefully picking up a bit now.

Ezra: A+, very alert, displays good judgement and reaction times
Arin: A, very attentive and understands the rules of the road, but sometimes too cautious/courteous
MMC: A, just because he’s gay doesn’t mean he can’t drive. is often the designated driver because someone has to be
Nora: A, always stays 5mph below the speed limit but otherwise very good. definitely read the driver’s manual from cover to cover and passed her road test on the first try. still prefers her broom though—it’s hard to beat movement in 3D and a lack of need for fuel!
Abel: A, great! occasionally road rages at other drivers who clearly did not read the manual. in another life, would be the most amazing tractor driver ever.
Darla: A, as with everything
Lucas: A-, occasionally hasty or inattentive but otherwise pretty good. he finds it very different from riding a horse (so much less tactile) but way faster, which he appreciates. if they lived in a more urban area, MMC would be trying very hard to keep him from getting a motorcycle, which he calls “death on wheels”
Omar: A-, great, would probably do Uber if he lived in a more urban area
Jo: B, not bad! would probably get distracted taking in the sights, at least at first
Lavinia: doesn’t drive. Ezra got her RV into the forest for her. would be a B if she did though

Mega Man X7 Ending
Ladies and gentlemen: it’s July 17th.
Today officially marks Mega Man X7′s 20th anniversary, as the game originally came out in Japan exactly 20 years ago today!
And what better way to celebrate than to finally put an end to this trainwreck of a game!
The first of the final stages, Palace Road, is one of the slowest, most awkward autoscrollers you’ll ever play!
Not only is it slow due to X7′s natural sluggishness, but the camera also does a miserable job at showing you incoming obstacles, enemies and bottomless pits, meaning that you pretty much have to avoid dashing otherwise you  ight just find yourself falling off a cliff and even then you will ram into enemies coming from offscreen more times than you can count. So we’re off to a great start already!
And then we have the final stage: The Crimson Palace
I dunno if you have noticed but this video is almost an hour long
About 90% of that time is spent in the Crimson Palace
It’s not that the level design is particularily awful, Sure it’s bad but nothing too out of the ordinary for this game
It’s just that it keeps going on
And on
And on
And OOOOOOOOOON
This level has the same issue as Gate’s second stage in X6 in that it keeps going even after the first boss battle
The fight against Red is one of the worst, if not THE worst boss fight in Mega Man history
You have to keep track of him as he teleports around this arena made up of platforms over a bottomless pit, as the camera makes no attempt at focusing on him, while you have to deal with X7′s controls and hit detection/boxes, making jumping precisely on those platforms a goddamn chore AND you also have to avoid his fake clones.
This fight is absolutely shit (and it’s shit that drags too, he’s got a lot of health) because you’re not actually fighting Red, you’re effectively fighting the camera and the controls.
The only boss fights that come close are those from Legends 1, and even then I’m generally more forgiving to those because
1) It’s an early PS1 game and issues with the camera and controls in 3D games were standard back then
2) Mega Man Juno may be a piece of shit but he’s not a piece of shit that you have to fight over a fucking bottomless pit!
And then the level keeps going through another series of boring and awkward platforming sections
Then we reach the boss rush
Credit where it’s due: the room is very creepy and atmospheric and the fact that the teleporters look like graves is really apt for this context
But fucking hell man!
I spent 20 minutes on this boss rush alone!
20 MINUTES!
All because X7′s bosses are just so fucking tanky and their weaknesses are mostly worthless against them!
This is the absolute worst boss rush I have ever seen
20 minutes!
I could probably beat Eggmanland in less time! And that’s a whole stinking level!!!
And then we get to Sigma and every time he says “That’s right, folks!” and “Fellas” I’m expecting the Loony Toones logo to pop up around him
His first phase is nothing fancy
His second phase is another travesty due to, again, forcing you to platform in 3D over a bottomless pit with these controls
Luckily even if you get a game over here you just restart the second phase
I used to rage hard here but then I discovered on the Internet that he’s really weak to the charged version of Splash Warfly’s weapon. Whatever, so long as it gets the job done
The final cutscene changes depending on the character that dealt the final blow to Sigma
In X’s ending we can see that he hasn’t learned a goddamn thing and he’s still bitching about Axl using violence to deal with Mavericks, he even sounds arrogant when he says that “You can’t train someone to become a hunter like me”. Wonderful
Axl’s ending is a continuation of X’s in a way:

Was he just...napping while standing up...? Do robots need to sleep? I mean in X4′s intro he’s also sleeping and dreaming but he’s in a capsule so I assumed he was also charging up his batteries or maybe undergoing light maintenance or something. Then again in the Zero series we do see that Reploids have normal beds in their rooms so.... meh who gives a shit, certainly not the developers at this point

Antes de Nathan Drake, a Naughty Dog era a fábrica de ódio disfarçada de joguinho fofo. E o Crash 1 é a prova viva de que os anos 90 tinham gráficos adoráveis e dificuldade estilo "vai jogar com o capeta mesmo".
🐾 Gameplay? Você corre, pula, gira, morre. Repete. É um plataformer tecnicamente “3D”, mas os níveis são tão retos que você se sente numa esteira rolante mortal. A câmera fixa te trai o tempo todo: profundidade? Nunca nem vi. O pulo precisa ser medido com precisão cirúrgica — tipo assim, se você pisar 1 pixel fora da caixa, o abismo te engole sem piedade.
E sim, o hitbox do Crash é um dos grandes vilões do jogo. Parece que o chão é feito de sabão, e o Crash tem o tornozelo mais frágil da história dos games.
🧠 História? Crash é um bandicoot modificado geneticamente por um cientista megalomaníaco (Cortex), foge do laboratório, e parte numa jornada pra salvar a namorada e dar giratória em tudo que se move. É o enredo mais simples do mundo — mas também: quem precisa de roteiro quando o desafio é sobreviver ao pulo da ponte?
📦 Design de fases? As fases são deslumbrantes pra época. Coloridas, variadas, com selvas, castelos, templos e pontes de madeira traidoras (alô, The High Road). Mas o design é sádico. Você precisa quebrar todas as caixas sem morrer uma vez pra conseguir 100% numa fase. Isso em 1996. Na era do memory card de 15 blocos.
🎧 Som? A trilha sonora é deliciosamente tribal, divertida, marcada por percussão e efeitos sonoros caricatos. A cara dos anos 90.
📉 Críticas? — Dificuldade desequilibrada: algumas fases parecem feitas pra te punir por tentar se divertir. — Controles escorregadios em plataforma precisa = receita pra rage quit. — Câmera fixa envelheceu mal — e isso foi suavizado no remake (N. Sane Trilogy), mas o trauma ficou.
Crash Bandicoot é o mascote que te acolhe com um sorriso e um ‘woah’, e logo depois te empurra no buraco só pra rir da sua cara. Uma joia da nostalgia, feita com carinho — e um certo sadismo.

To celebrate the 35th anniversary on the exact month the Mega Drive got launched in North America, I've compiled a set of games that were released for the console. Its Tough Being a Gamer
On thursday, your dear newsletter writer joined a number of skilled volunteers to the game room in the Region of Immersion and Entertainment, on the Land of DownLoadable Content and Challenges. Together, we proceeded to play a number of scrambled games in order to return the misplaced data to the correct places, for the sake of repairing the pokedex database. In addition to yours truly, who played A Short Hike, there was also Rogue of Heart Charles who played Pokemon Emerald and Yu-Gi-Oh! Ultimate Masters: WCT 2006, Witch of Heart Cyrus who played two different rhythm games, Muse Dash and Project Diva Megamix+, Seer of Space K who played Undertale, Ceda Cedovich, who played Super Mario 64 and DOOM II, and a few others, who had Paper Mario, Duke Nukem 3D, and SMZ3 to tackle.
As it turned out, the health risks of quick swapping between games are apparently minimal, with only the average effects of playing games for extended periods of time. Your dear newsletter writer however, spent much of the day yesterday trying to configure the setup for their game, which as it turned out, just needed to have up to date fresh files for it to connect properly. At one point I left the facility to blow off some steam and ended up fighting some underlings for grist and booncoins in the adjacent Region of Tile Sliding and Memory. I managed to locate a tile that had a minimart located on it, so I bought a handful of snacks before making my way back to the game room.
After watching the progress of some of the other participants who had their external screens on, I resumed troubleshooting for my own. It was only after spending a tender moment with someone dear to me that I was able to get the game fixed and connected enough to play. Perhaps love is more important than I thought it was before... After a few hours of playing my assigned game, I spent more quality time with them, eventually returning home.
Overall, despite everything, it was a good day to get out of the house. Its likely that the archipelago protocol will continue for at least a week or two, depending upon how long it takes for us to clear our games together.
Samm is back!
The other day, Page of Mind Samm received an emergency surgery that required a skilled heart player and a few magical containment artifacts. Further details of this operation will not be published for the sake of patient confidentiality, but what can be said is that the surgery was a success and Samm and has returned home with her loving husband, Page of Rage Jovin. It is unknown when she will resume work on Grass 3 or her occasional noodle stand, but that will need to be her own decision.

I think that does it. The issue that Charles found in the train tunnel the other week still needs to be investigated (though much slower manual construction is continuing there), and the weather's been calming down a little, though its still relatively hot at peak hours in Unity. Meanwhile, between lending my hand in the game room and my library work, I've begun working on a short flash animation slated to be shorter than a minute. Road Rage Rampage Development - week 9
We are another week in to developing Road Rage Rampage and it is going well! What we are trying to Achieve! Through the use of GDevelop we have been trying to make the game a little more immersive and visually appealing compared to our initial top down idea! The goal has been to make the game slightly 3D, with the camera position above and slightly behind the Player, providing some more chaotic realism whilst still hitting that arcade feel. Something We have Learned! This game has been such an educational journey after our asteroids attempt! We are learning the importance of balancing progressive challenge and key rewards that ensure the player grows their skills, but without absolute chaos and anything too difficult that might make them quit. We have been experimenting with different difficulty levels and discussing how to make a more "progressive" system to ensure a sense of accomplishment, yet encouraging the urge to push themselves! Setting/Style We have been really loving the use of flat colours along with combinations of colours that a player might consider "dangerous", such as reds and oranges. This inspiration has led to design ideas of apocalyptic stretches of orange desert that the player drives through. It really gives a feel of death, danger and desolation all the while being vibrant!

Other News! On another Note, Assessment two was a One Page and One Sheet on our asteroid Game. It was amazing to distill our game into its most essential parts that helped the viewer visualise our goal and draw attention to our upcoming Game. We believe we were able to get the core gameplay and vibe of our asteroid game down and detailed enough that someone could easily rebuild it themselves, but simple enough that anyone could understand the potential Gameplay! - see below!
