(Re)Building the Future Chapter 6

By all accounts, the path that Freddy, Gregory, and Vanessa take through the Pizzaplex doesn’t make any sense. In some places, they are able to find and follow the same route as Cassie. In others? Well, with the way she seems to have been able to travel through solid objects, it’s almost like trying to follow a ghost. Gregory is pretty sure they’ve discovered several places he didn’t even know existed before today, but it’s hard to tell, considering how different everything looks now. Even the places he knows he’s been to before lack familiarity in their state of ruin.

“One of the entrances to Roxy Raceway should be just up ahead,” Vanessa announces as they reach the end of yet another hallway filled with junk. Gregory tenses slightly. Hopefully they don’t run into the animatronic wolf. He’s pretty sure she still hates him for low key ruining her life. The kind of hatred that fuels rage strong enough to motivate you to chase someone through a flaming inferno. Literally.

She still seemed pretty upset about that when Cassie ran into her earlier from what Gregory could see on the security footage.

“Um… Maybe you should go first, Vanessa,” Gregory suggests as they reach the end of the hallway. “Just in case.”

“In case of what?” Freddy asks, confused. Gregory hasn’t displayed any self preservation instincts today up til now. It’s a little unnerving to be honest.

“In case, you know, Roxy’s right on the other side of the door? I don’t think she’ll want to see either of us,” Gregory points out. He’s probably right. Roxy had seemed a bit unhinged the last time Freddy saw her.

“Fine,” Vanessa says, “but you get to be the human shield next time.” She’s not completely sure Roxy hates her any less than she hates the others, but she does owe Gregory for all those times she tried to kill him, so she’ll do as he asks (this time).

Gregory only recognizes the storage room on the other side of the door when he sees what’s left of Princess Quest II. As with most other things in this place, it has definitely seen better days. It’s almost a shame, really. That game had some pretty amazing gameplay (for being 110% certifiably haunted). He rather enjoyed going swishy-stabby with glowing swords, even if he still doesn’t totally understand the game’s connection to Vanessa.

No sign of Roxy so far, he notices with relief. But the canyonesk decor on some of the walls tell him she could be close. They're definitely not far from the raceway now. Too bad he doesn’t have a real life glowing sword to defend himself with. That would make him feel a whole lot better about all of this. So much better. He’d look so cool with a sword…

“Now we just have to cut through Glamrock Salon and then head towards the sinkhole,” Vanessa announces, interrupting his sword related fantasies. “Hopefully the floor isn’t too damaged and we can actually get over there without having to backtrack.”

“The Pizzaplex has a salon?” Gregory is pretty sure he would remember seeing a place like that. Nothing comes to mind. Cassie could probably fill him in on it if she were here. She loves experimenting with different looks when she gets bored.

“Gregory… We passed through the Salon at least once while we were searching for a way to defeat Roxy,” Freddy says, “How do you not remember this?”

Gregory shrugs. “I have no idea. Maybe I was too distracted by how cool Princess Quest II was to notice anything else. I mean, it had an awesome glowing sword and everything!”

Freddy and Vanessa share a look that makes him feel like he’s being judged heavily (because he is).

“Okay. Well. Might as well keep moving,” Vanessa says eventually. She’s not quite sure how to respond to Gregory’s cluelessness.

It’s eerily quiet inside the salon itself. Which is weird, considering how messy it is. Though the rubble in the corner and the fallen signs are probably from the ‘earthquake’ that damaged the Pizzaplex months ago, the trashed furniture and mirrors are most likely victims of Roxy’s rage. And yet… the animatronic wolf doesn’t seem to be here, either. Gregory can’t help but wonder where she is. If they’ll actually see her. If she’ll even be the threat he’s made her out to be. He’s surprised his mere presence hasn’t summoned her to take revenge upon his sorry soul. Not that he wants that or is particularly sorry. Because he’s really not.

Roxy Raceway is an even bigger mess than the salon. Rubble, half filled shipping containers, and gaping holes create a maze of obstacles nearly impossible to navigate.

“How the heck did Cassie make it through here without getting trapped somewhere?” Gregory asks, weaving his way around a set of construction barriers. All of them are struggling and they don’t have the added threat of MXES and Roxy (who is somehow still totally absent) chasing after them.

“I dunno. But it did seem like I got places faster when I was wearing my V.A.N.N.I mask,” Vanessa remembers, frowning thoughtfully.

“Weird,” Gregory replies, saying what they’re all thinking. There are some things from the night of The Incident (and before for that matter!) that none of them really have explanations for. Things that don’t quite add up about the Pizzaplex and all that happened there. Memories that feel just out of reach. It’s something they usually avoid talking about.

“This whole day has been weird,” Freddy points out, “and I doubt that will change anytime soon. Look.”

They’ve managed to (finally) find a clear path leading to the final door before the sinkhole. The sight gives Gregory chills. He hasn’t forgotten what he and Freddy faced the last time they went down there. They were lucky to make it out alive! And now there’s another, possibly even bigger threat lurking below their feet.

“It’s not too late to turn back,” Vanessa says, gripping the door’s rusty old handle. None of them have fond memories of what lies beyond this door.

“We have to do this,” Gregory replies before he can talk himself out of it, “For Cassie.”

“For Cassie!” Freddy agrees (despite never having met Gregory’s friend). And so they begin their descent down, down into the abyss.

“I gotta say, those sunglasses are a great look for you!” Helpy tells Roxy, trying to distract her from the one sided staring contest she is currently having with a still unconscious Cassie.

“Yeah,” Eclipse agrees, “I know that sunglasses are usually Monty’s thing, but maybe you can add them to your act once the Pizzaplex reopens!”

“Oh. Uh. Maybe?” Roxy is glad that the oversized sunglasses cover enough of her face that Eclipse can’t see her expression. She’s pretty sure the Pizzaplex won’t be reopening anytime soon. Or ever, for that matter. She’s also pretty sure she looks ridiculous, but hey, at least when Cassie finally wakes up again, she’ll have something to laugh about. If she wakes up. It feels like it’s been forever since the little girl woke up, screamed at her, and then passed out again. Roxy edges closer to her, trying to detect any changes.

“I don’t think checking on her every five minutes is going to make her wake up any faster,” Eclipse notes. Roxy rolls her eyes. What does he know? It might help. It definitely helps Roxy feel like she has some control over the situation. She’s about to argue this point when Cassie begins to mumble hoarsely.

“The eyes… the eyes! Why are there so many eyes?”

“It’s okay, Cassie. You don’t have to look at the eyes anymore,” Roxy tells her, assuming Cassie is talking about her freshly stolen pair of eyes.

“Nonono… they’re everywhere,” Cassie replies, gazing about wildly.

Well, if she’s not talking about It’s eyes, than Roxy hasn’t a clue what’s got her so freaked out this time.

“What’s wrong with her? There’s not even that many eyes,” Roxy says, turning to Eclipse in confusion.

“I don’t think she’s fully awake yet,” the daycare attendant tells her.

Oh. That does make more sense than any alternatives Roxy can come up with. But still. Creepy.

“They’re watching… always watching…” Cassie whispers, somehow clutching Roxy’s arm. Roxy is careful not to move for fear of hurting her. The little girl whimpers and mumbles something about nowhere being safe.

“That does it. As soon as this is over, we’re dumping whatever is left of your stash in the toilet,” Roxy announces, growing increasingly concerned about Cassie’s wellbeing.

“Hey Freddy… where’d your head go, anyway? You’re kinda freaking me out,” Cassie asks before Eclipse can protest.

“Aww but this is just getting good,” Helpy complains as Cassie continues to ramble about Freddy’s appearance. “Next time you guys drug someone, we should make sure we have a camera ready!” Both Roxy and Eclipse glare at him, but he can’t quite bring himself to care.

“Cassie, can you hear me?” Roxy asks, gently nudging Cassie. Cassie groans.

“No, I couldn’t possibly eat another slice of cake, Mom.”

Roxy considers shaking her harder, but decides that probably won’t do much of anything.

“Okay. We’ll save the rest of the cake for later,” she tells her, not sure what else to say.

“Mom… Mommy… Momther?” Cassie says.

“Yes?” Roxy says awkwardly (she is SO not ready to be a parent). How is one supposed to interact with a child who is clearly high on… something? Cassie’s real parents will be worried sick when they realize she’s missing (if they haven’t already).

“I don’t feel so good…” Cassie complains, finally letting go of Roxy to clutch her stomach. Thinking quickly, Eclipse just barely manages to grab an old cleaning bucket and shove it at her in time for her to start puking.

Yax, the How and Why:

Part 1: Why do people ship them?

Decided it was time I put together all my thoughts about why I think Yax works particularly well as a ship, and what they all bring to the table.

There's a lot to talk about here, and I'm going to try and hit at least all my big points. I'm also going to be looking at them from the standpoint of Goof Troop, and A Goofy movie, as well as the Og Animaniacs and reboot, Wakkos Wish, (even though that's out of universe for animaniacs) comics, and even the toys.

This is about to get really long, so I'll put it under a read more.

From a personality standpoint, they compliment each other's strengths and weaknesses so well.

Max is earnest and honest. He always has been.

From Goof troop where he wants so badly to do good things, and goes immediately to an adult when he messes up, to A Goofy Movie, where he goes so far to impress the people around him, to his want to do a good job in House of mouse. It's a constant whenever we see him on screen.

Max has seen a lot of growth through his shows and movies, but he's also been consistent. Goofy has clearly done an incredible job raising Max. Max is pretty open about his emotions. He doesn't hide them from his friends or family. There's a level of vulnerability that comes from that, and despite being bullied and picked on, he knows who he is, it only become a matter of insecurity getting other people to see that.

In A Goofy Movie, he doesn't worry about being good enough for roxanne. He says with conviction that "after today, she'll be mine". He doesn't doubt his own abilities. He's confident in what he does, and what he knows he's good at, like skateboarding.

Max is dramatic, he's flamboyant and a show off. He has made himself the center of attention on purpose before; as long as it's something he's well versed in and is confident he can impress with, he thrives. He loves to have that positive attention from big crowds. It pushes him forward.

He is also, and this is very important, a troublemaker.

He always has been, and not just in a well meaning sense.

In Goof Troop, he shows that he's the scheming type, he's the type to cause problems on purpose, just because it's fun. It's often the problem or the solution to several episodes.

Just like the Warners.

Now, these are never super harmful, he's a good kid at his core. He's kind and patient and understands his mistakes, but he's an absolute menace. He would have no trouble fitting in with patented Warner antics.

This next point is talked about a lot.

Max's issues and insecurities make for a fantastic story of growth with Yakko and his siblings. He's worried about being laughed at, at people hearing his laugh (something that is the best part of individuals and their expression of self) and worries about what other people think of it. This issue of his hits against Yakko's need to make people laugh.

They're complimentary. They're foils to each other.

Yakko is similar, but because of how he grew up, and the role he was forced into, he mirrors Max's traits as well.

Yakko is sarcastic, he undercuts a lot of sincerity with humor or hides it behind a veil of snark. He hides his feelings for fear of backlash. Unlike Max, who has his emotions on his sleeve, and has been encouraged to feel them openly from a young age.

Yakko's not able to be so open emotionally, because doing so has gotten both him and his siblings hurt.

Yakko is smart. He's tactical where Max is emotional. He schemes as well, as the spearhead and leader of the zany trio, but he sees more angles than Max does.

He does it out of self preservation in ADDITION to doing it to be a menace and for fun. He's the mastermind of the group, just like Max is to his own group. They're both the snarky personas. Yakko wants, NEEDS to make people laugh, his self worth is tied to it, it's what he was made to do. It's a source of anxiety for him, but also a source of joy. We've seen several instances of moments where Yakko falls back on his "Nations of the World" song, because he wants to make a good impression. We also have evidence of him stressing about his ability to perform in his sleep.

Being able to tell exactly how others are feeling helps Yakko pivot his plans and react in line to the antagonist. He has a hard time being sincere sometimes, prefers to keep himself protected.

But he also craves attention. Loves to be at the center of it, loves it more when it's something he's passionate in or prides himself with.

His jokes, his wit, his singing. His ability to sing and speak tongue twisters that nobody else can. All things he's confident in.

Yakko's strengths lie more in his mind, as opposed to Max's physical capabilities.

Together, they create a dynamic duo of mischief, being people with similar senses of humor, (we have seen both Yakko and Max tell almost identical jokes)they make each other laugh.

With strong senses of justice, they both aren't afraid to bring out the schemes on "special friends", or on people who deserve it; we see that a lot in Goof Troop.

Max is used to havoc. He's closely acquainted with it, he's been doing Goof Luck damage control since he was a small child, constantly being pushed to take the wheel of his dad's mishaps, sometimes very literally.

He would fit in seamlessly to the Warner's adventures, egg them on or do damage control. He's perfectly suited to fill in the space where he's needed, like a liquid changing shape to its container.

They're two sides of the same coin. They are opposites but they support each others weaknesses.

The emotional openness vs. The guarded emotions.

The need to make people laugh vs. The need to not show his laugh.

The physical vs. mental strengths.

Together, they gain inner and outer strength. They'll have someone to confide in, someone with much different upbringings and experiences than their own. Both in and out of universe.

But that's not really all there is to it, is there?

No, because family is so integral to both of their characters, we can't really talk about how good Yax is, and why it works, without talking about Goofy, Wakko, and Dot.

Yakko would never date someone, or even be friends with someone if they didn't like his siblings. Not just get along, like.

The Warners are "All for one, and one for all times 3". There is no talking about such a major change to the Warner dynamic without addressing every Warner, because they're affected too.

Dot and Wakko need someone to be friends with outside of themselves. They need familiarity and kindness.

Who better to open the Warner's to a kinder life, than a toon from a company all about the power of familial and romantic love? The themes that surround Max and Goofy(as well as many other Disney's), are exactly the kind of thing that those kids need the most.

Wakko and Dot need to have love that comes from the outside. Love from a parental figure who isn't their older brother, and love from a real friend, someone who cares about them who they aren't related to and can talk through issues they may otherwise be uncomfortable talking to their siblings about. The Warners are closer than any siblings that have or will ever exist, but there's still some things that are easier to talk about with a third party.

With Goofy, (someone who knows how to raise a kid, and what they would need to thrive) the Warners can finally, just be kids.

Yakko being happy is a the big part, but having the Warners brought into the Disney family by Goofy Goof, the man with so much understanding and love to give, who GETS kids, and has always let Max be a kid and help him through it?

It would help all three of them lean on outside help.

His appearance through Yakko and Max knowing each other, gives the Warners a positive adult figure in their lives who will be there to support them instead of criticize them for being "too much".

Yax isn't JUST about Yakko and Max, it's about the connections these kids make beyond the studio lot.

The connections that start with the eldest himself opening up. Start with Yakko overcoming that fear of rejection and letting people in.

It's about learning the world around them isn't just filled with people who want them locked up.

It's also about Max having someone who can match his energy. Max already has some friends who let him be himself and are wonderful people , but The Warners open up a different side of Max that can allow him to show that freer, mischievous side and have fun in that same way he had enjoyed in Goof Troop. He's allowed to revel in it, instead of worrying about stressing out his friends by getting them in on the antics.

The world is also filled with people who embrace their weirdness and energy, and who will guide them.

Even if you just like yax as friends, it's easy to see the potential and benefits

The Warners and the Goofs, to have lives grow richer.

And more, with them being from separate companies, their worldview would be able to grow to incorporate new ideas and thoughts.

The Warners aren't very open with their emotions, so a father son duo who have always been open and communicative would be able to show them the benefits of doing so themselves.

Plus, watching the Warner Siblings wreak havoc with a smile, hurting no innocents, would be exactly the type of thing to make Max smile in turn.

They deserve each other, deserve kindness and acceptance. ALL of these kids do. And every single one of them get that through Yax.

Plus, through Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Yakko and Max exist within the same universe. They're so close. It's not a stretch to see them interact and understand each other.

Now, there's a lot more to talk about. How it came to be, and how the shipping climate and the timing of the original shows allowed for this to line up to happen.

personality wise hes a mix between his parents. hes a lot like ron in the sense that hes made of dry humour and loyalty to his friends, but like hermione in that he gets exasperated easily and also possesses undying loyalty. now that i think about it, hugo is just extremely loyal

Ramona Flowers Twice Removed

Based off a small discussion with @centrally-unplanned (shoutouts homie)

One of the less obvious things about Scott Pilgrim is the way in which it has an underlying running arc with Ramona that's significantly less explicit than Scott's arc (except in Book 5). Ramona has to confront all of Scott's exes, and how they reflect on her the same way that Scott's exes reflect on him - and that's one of the more clever things that BLOM does in the comics.

The first one is Kim, Scott's High School ex; Kim is in a lot of ways a parallel to Ramona. Scott's pet name for both is very similar (Kimmy, Rammy); both of their last names are largely biological (Pine and Flowers). Ramona's head glows while they're watching the Lucas Lee movie, which in turn mirrors the Scott vs Simon Lee fight and the Knives-Ramona fight smashed together; the Simon Lee fight particularly sticks out as that's when it glows hardest. Scott also obviously lies and about how "he doesn't even remember his high school girlfriend" - and corrects himself to "girlfriends" to make himself look cooler; Ramona's lie comes later, when she's saying she didn't dump him for any cocky pretty boys (Todd). That entire arc gets resolved on the personal level by Scott introducing Ramona to Kim. The resolution between the two is just "hey, he can still hold a friendly relationship with one of his exes", which Ramona is utterly unable to do up until that point.

The next one is Envy, whose parallel to Ramona happens at a number of levels, from the superficial (both share the middle name initial V, but Natalie gets a cool menacing nickname, and Ramona gets to be a motorhome - obviously a sign of Ramona being way less "cool" than Envy) to the obvious (both of them are mercurial people, Envy out of ambition and Ramona as a self-defense mechanism). Ramona has to wrestle the girl that is mentally torturing Scott and who has moved into fully incompatible territory with him; but she also has to be honest to Scott and admit she just dumped Lucas for Todd with zero hesitation. The thing that brings their fight to a halt is the two pseudo-bonding over a terrible ex; and this Hyper-Scott character in Todd - but also in Scott being willing to intervene in Ramona's side during the Ramona vs Natalie fight and make it clear that no, he's not using her as a rebound to get with Natalie.

After that, it's Lisa, and this one is testing Ramona's faith in Scott not to cheat on some random girl he was connections to, and with whom he might have cheated before. Ramona's entire arc is this perpetual fear of Scott cheating on her, and in this arc she does - she makes out with Roxanne off-screen! Ramona is terrified of some influence from the past, however no-strings-attached it is, taking Scott from her, and she's not realizing that - and it's projection from who she is, in a sense.

On volume 5, we finally arrive at Knives and the confrontation that Scott did do the cut-and-run thing, but it was dumping someone else for Ramona, and Ramona now has to deal with the fact that Scott cheated; so it triggers her temptation to get moving again; that "real life is waiting", to quote one of the Twins. That Scott isn't perfect when it comes to that, and that he's going to fuck up - but he's also not better than her, because her two exes here are guys she two-timed. But she can't reconcile that at the present time, so it triggers her defense mechanism - escape.

Volume 6 has Ramona confronting herself entirely off-screen - the last of Scott's exes. And that she too hasn't been perfect; she admits as much, and comes back for herself - and Scott, though she can't fully admit it until she gets The Power of Love. She has to want to change versus the one who sees things going poorly and bails as soon as possible.

I think especially because we don't get to see Ramona through Volume 6 until she comes back, that's not made sufficiently explicit as a running arc. Which is understandable; it's hard to do the Vol. 6 narrative well while also showing what Ramona was up to and making that arc more explicit.

when you think rebellious and outspoken in f1, who is your answer? if your answer is jupiter nightshade, you’d be absolutely right. so, imagine everyone’s surprise when it came out — through no fault of her own because aella had posted a picture of them together — that seemingly cold hearted jupiter is dating warm and bubbly oscar piastri.

“oi, mate!” oscar barges into the garage with a hand on his forehead. “why did you do that?”

aella, pulling her red racesuit up her legs looks up at her best friend in the dark blue hoodie. “what did i do?”

jupiter comes out from behind him with her hands on her hips. “you outted us to the public, aella.”

at the sight of the world champion — the person she looks up to, literally — she stumbles back a couple of steps and holds onto the wing of the car parked in the garage to balance herself. “it was a group photo!”

“i had my hand around her waist!”

“it’s not my fault you can’t keep your hands off of her for one picture!”

jupiter sighs, throwing her head back. “aella.”

“i’m sorry,” she cries out, hurriedly pulling up her race suit over her body. “i thought you guys were okay with people finding out. we went to the bahamas together! that’s a public space. i’m sorry, jupiter.” she looks at oscar. “help me; i don’t want to get mauled before my race.”

a small smile plays on jupiter’s lips watching the younger driver looking at oscar for some form of protection. she taps aella on her arm. “okay, fine. only because,” jupiter sighs, wrapping her hands around oscar’s arm and rests her head on his shoulder, “i like him a lot.”

there are many questions surrounding their involvement. oscar… oscar piastri… that name rings a bell, doesn’t it?

i think you can see why there’s a lot of questions regarding their involvement. a kid with a bright future ahead of him in the racing scene suddenly steps away after his alleged involvement with the reigning world champion.

rumour has it that jupiter had asked oscar to step away from the racing scene so that she can keep unapologetically be a menace on the track. there was even one alleging that jupiter is forcing him to be her trophy boyfriend – to sit in the sidelines while she dominates the track.

❝no, god! that’s an absurd thing to say. stepping away from racing to focus on my education is a decision that was set in stone even before i met jupiter. she didn’t have to convince me to quit racing; she didn’t even know of the decision up until a week before my last race in f2.❞

❝ohh, he announces his retirement from the sport and suddenly everyone is accusing me of forcing him to quit racing. no, i didn’t tell him to quit. i even joked with oscar that the only way i’ll be giving up my championship is if he is fighting me for it.❞*

the villainisation of jupiter nightshade doesn’t end there. you know how to story goes: a woman dominating a sport meant for men. the woman who paved the way for several others to earn their rightful spot in f1 with her and roxanne castle.

– ❝jupiter nightshade’s custom ferrari was spotted in oscar piastri’s university parking lot. shortly after, they were seen walking out of campus hand-in-hand before he drove them out of the parking lot.❞

– ❝there’s just something off about how oscar retired shortly after they came out and told everyone they’re dating.❞

– ❝did you see oscar’s instagram the other night? they went on a romantic dinner in monaco together! that might have been one of the rare times that i’ve seen jupiter nightshade sport such a genuine smile.❞

“no, it doesn’t make any fucking sense!” jupiter scolds, walking into her garage with her helmet in her hands. “that’s stupid – why did you let kelly pass me? i was faster! i needed those extra points!”

christian sighs, stepping back as the angry girl approaches. “jupiter, please. calm down first.”

“camellia closed up our gap! one wrong move and i swear either mercedes is coming for my throat in the championship fight!” she throws her arms in the air. she takes a deep breath, ready to continue her rampage.

in the corner of her eye, she notices a figure taking off the headphones from his head and approaching her. she does a double take, unsure if she’s hallucinating. she raises her eyebrows with a smile. “oscar!”

“jupiter!” oscar laughs, opening his arms as he comes towards her. “surprise! i made it out this weekend! i finished my submissions early and i got a flight to fly out in the afternoon yesterday. i arrived this morning; i’ve been hiding in the mclaren home with aella the entire day.”

“oh, you’re sneaky!” jupiter laughs, throwing her arms around oscar. “i’m so glad you could make it. thank you.”

the signature smirks turn into the warmest smiles in his presence — some might argue that her ice cold demeanour is thawing with his presence. but everyone says, and swears, that oscar piastri made jupiter nightshade more likeable. they could very well be right. but is that what she thinks?

Designed as what historian Howard Lamar called “an internal colonial system for the West,” its provisions were borrowed in part from the British system of settler colonialism in Ulster, Ireland, and the thirteen North American colonies. However, this invention was something new, the constitutional construction of the fiscal-military settler state, with both ethnic cleansing of the Native presence and chattel slavery producing racial capitalism.

The Northwest Ordinance provided for eventual settler self-government once European American settlers outnumbered the Indigenous population. Historian David Reynolds writes that Jefferson believed the US empire was destined to assume the responsibility to spread freedom around the world, starting with the North American continent and intervening abroad. US foreign policy was stamped with this concept and has provided the ideological motivation for all US wars and interventions.

Through the Northwest Ordinance, the United States created a unique land system among colonial powers, including Britain. In the US system, land itself—not just what was produced from the land, such as agriculture, mining, logging, grazing, and so on—was the most important exchange commodity for the accumulation of capital and building the national treasury. In order to comprehend the apparently irrational genocidal policy of the US government toward the presence of Native nations on the land, the centrality of land sales in building the economic base of the US capitalist system must be the frame of reference. This policy was embedded in the design of the fiscal-military state. As Wolfe summed up the issue, “Tribal land was tribally owned—tribes and private property did not mix. Indians were the original communist menace. . . . Whatever settlers may say—and they generally have a lot to say—the primary motive for elimination is not race (or religion, ethnicity, grade of civilization, etc.) but access to territory. Territoriality is settler colonialism’s specific, irreducible element.”]

Summary: Having had her kindness stomped on then spat back at her, betrayed by who she thought was her friend, and now stuck at the ruined remains of Freddy Fazbear's Mega PizzaPlex, Cassie tries to find the slightest bit of meaning and worth in all of this.

It's such a shame that the pretty makeup Roxanne had done on her wound up all smudged, but Cassie couldn't help but cry it down her cheeks. It's just so painful to see the party room she was supposed to celebrate such a special milestone so... empty and deserted. Do... do people just not care? Why is it so hard for her to have friends who aren't robots? Sure, there's this boy who popped up, though she couldn't help but wonder if he was just there out of pity, he wasn't one of her friends after all, she doesn't know this boy, or perhaps he was simply looking for friends himself. Either way, he got out of his way to offer a tissue. Which quickly got stained with tears, black and purple. Now it had to be used to make sure all of her makeup was off her face, or as much of it as possible, with how ruined it was.

"Cassie? Cassie." The girl looked up to see Roxy at the doorway, the pretty wolf having had excused herself off a couple minutes ago to get or do something-- she appears to be back with something or someone at the door, but she couldn't see it from there. "I know your party hasn't gone the way it was supposed to, but, it doesn't need to end like this. It's not going to end like this! So I went and asked for a little help to prepare you a little surprise!" She announces cheerfully, no doubt trying to lift Cassie's spirits.

Cassie's eyelids just hardly squinted open, her vision very blurry and dark at the edges. She couldn't really hear anything at first, everything seemed muffled and super far away. It took her several moments to even register she was lying down on a hard surface, on her side. The floor maybe? She felt dizzy and hazy.

Slowly her senses began to clear up. Most of the muffled sounds around her turned out to be like... creaking metal? Her sight took a moment longer to become clearer again, and when it did, the first thing she could truly see was a menacing clawed endoskeleton hand propped on the floor basically next to her head. Lastly but not least, when her latest memories returned back to her, she realized whose hand that was... and that sure did jolt her awake, alright.

She has a gasp die down in her throat and a pit form in her stomach, once she looked up and saw the headless, twisted body of Glamrock Freddy over above her, with only a few inches space between them. He appears to be propped on his hand and one knee with a lot of strain, given the rather loud sound of whirring and grinding from his inner mechanisms. His form quivered and trembled, struggling to remain in position, and it's no wonder; Onto his back and somewhat held up with his other arm, was a large pile of debris which appeared very heavy, and the source of the sounds of creaking metal.

The headless Glamrock Freddy was the single one thing between that pile and Cassie, using himself to shield her from being buried and crushed under the mountain of rubble.

Hadn't it been for him, she could be dead right now.

However, given their current situation, the Prototype was rather out of options on what else to do, as nearly all of his effort was currently going with making sure they don't get crushed. Cassie was still pretty dazed, and her head ached somewhat.

It appears that upon trying to free the Prototype from under that pile, she caused a good deal of it to collapse on them, the physical effort resulting in such a nasty dizzy spell that she blacked out, but had loosened the gap just enough for the Prototype to free himself, just in time for him to shield her from the collapsing junk.

Some of it all fell off around them, lifting a curtain of thick dust and debris particles, making it hard for Cassie to breathe without coughing, or to look out without getting dust in her eyes.

As strong as the Prototype Glamrock Freddy is, it's unlikely he can hold himself up for long with how much strain he was putting. But he could not move while Cassie was under him, nor could he attempt moving her without high risk of him losing to the pile he was trying to keep off her. Cassie began to stir, still rather dazed, but at least seemed aware that she had to move, she just wasn't with a clear mind to actually do it. Maybe if she had something to focus on.

"Cassie! Cassie, where are you!?"

That... was Roxy's voice. The wolf sounded far away, but within Fazerblast. "Cassie! Say something! Shout something if you can hear me!"

Cassie winces, shutting her eyes trying to ease the dizzyness. She coughs before attempting to respond. "R- Roxy! Roxy!!" Her voice sounds hoarse, her throat feels dry.

"I can hear you!" Roxy shouted back. "Keep going, Champion! I'll try to reach you!" It seems that Roxy plans to locate Cassie by sound, which wasn't a bad idea, especially with her acute hearing that even after all the shattering it still serves her well.

"Roxy!!" Cassie shouts back. "I'm h- here!!"

"You sound closer!!" Roxy's voice answered right back, the sound of heavy pacing following, indicating she was within the ruined maze. "I think I'm almost there!"

Cassie coughed. Her throat felt scratchy, her little lungs burned. But she still tries one more time. "O- over here, Roxy!!"

This time Roxy doesn't say anything, likely strictly focused on following the direction of the girl's voice. The pacing was louder, suggesting she was much closer to Cassie and Prototype Freddy's location.

Eventually the faceless wolf marches into view, her ears twitching rapidly for sounds. "Cassie!" Her pace hastens towards the other two. "There you are!" Roxy crouches down to grab Cassie's hands and drag her out from under the Prototype, then lift her up to her feet, metal hands by her shoulders.

With the girl moved, the Prototype puts one last effort to get himself out from under the pile, causing it to rock with loud creaking and crumbling. With how unstable the rubble was during that, he rushes and tackles the other two, sort of sandwiching Cassie between both robots and using his larger body to secure them from loose junk that could possibly strike them.

It takes both the Prototype and Roxy several moments to move again, once they were more certain nothing would fall on them, standing up once again. Cassie is thankful for that; the two almost squeezed her into a meat pretzel sandwich.

Roxy and Prototype Freddy just stare at one another (sort of, neither can actually stare in their current states,) before the wolf picks Cassie up. "Let's get you out of here, Champion. This attraction's become even more hazardous." She looks out ahead. "Which way now?" Without her eyes, and the fact this wasn't her attraction to begin with, not to mention the ruins, Roxy can't really point out the exit.

But someone else can.

Prototype Freddy emits an electronic grinding noise from within himself, decidedly stepping away into a direction. There's not much else for Roxy to do but to follow him, keeping Cassie in her arms.

"Of course I already knew that was the way." The wolf says, despite having expressed doubt not long ago; it seems a little bit of her pride was still there. Prototype Freddy just emits a garbled grumble in response; even without a head or an actual voice, he succeeded in sounding unimpressed right now. He has a hand held out in front of him as he walked ahead, Roxy following behind with Cassie. At some point, the Prototype punches a broken down toy ride out of their way since it was blocking the pathway; Cassie had no problem with it when she first got into Fazerblast because the mask let her pass through that obstacle. But right now, it seems she's relying heavily on the robots... why was Helpi (and M.X.E.S,) so quiet?

With the headless Freddy's guidance leading the way, they made it out of the attraction's main area and into a passageway around it, which took them to the beat down Winner's Lounge.

As dilapidated and kind of crammed as that room was, it was an okay space for a break. Cassie certainly needed one. Roxy laid her down on one of the couches the room still had, on her side (because of the backpack.) The girl still felt somewhat dizzy, and her throat still feels hoarse. "Roxy...?"

"Take a moment to breathe, Champion." Roxy reasoned, standing up over the couch. "We will wait right here until you're ready to go."

The headless Freddy, who stood next to Roxy, emmitted out strings of odd sounds, with whirring and garbled rumbling as if trying to talk, his jagged chest hatch lids twitching. Cassie squinted her eyes lightly as she glanced up at him from where she laid, his string of noises repeating. The first part of it sounded close to "SORRY" with the tone and cadence he was trying to convey through his jarring voiceless sounds, but the second part was still tough to make out.

It takes Prototype Freddy a couple repeats until Cassie finally realizes what he was attempting to tell her, her brows raising.

He was trying to call her "SUPERSTAR".

HR AU: Roxy wakes up after a hard night's partying in Gator Golf and meets Monty, who is instantly taken with her wild antics. Poor kid couldn't have found a worse influence.

MONTY GATOR IN THE HOUSE!!!

I finally decided to expand on the cast and try my hand at Monty. He turned out okay, I think. I decided I'd rather keep him as the wide-eyed kid seen in the RUIN cutouts than his SB counterpart. Mainly cause I really want to keep Bonnie in the cast cause I love him too much and plan to include him in Hardrock Roxanne, once I figure his character out at least ;n;

He's still a menace but more in the good ol' American boy sense who tramples his stuffy neighbours' flowers when they take his ball.
