Ok so hear me out...
Janus shape-shifts and can accurately look like any of the other sides (technically so can the others, but janus does it the most)
Remus can conjure pretty much anything, even replicas of living people (again, roman can do this too, but remus does it more)
Do you think remus ever asked janus to look like roman for a little while so he can pretend he's with his brother?
Has janus ever asked remus to conjure a fake virgil so it feels like their former friend is still with them?

so. Roman writes a script for an episode that he knows is good. He's very excited. He feels like he finally did something right.
Shows it to Logan. Gets it back all marked up.
accidentally got long
It starts a big fight. Easy for us to imagine how this goes because they have this or adjacent fights all the time.
Janus is on Roman's side which would make Roman more angry. Virgil is on Logan's side which hurts especially (idk if there's new content but last I know Roman and Virgil were pretty much the only consistently getting along, maybe Janus and Remus idk). Remus is there for a good time (see Roman's ideas are not good you should use mine). Patton manages to hurt everyone's feelings by taking Roman's side but sounding unsure about it (poor little guy is trying so hard to take care of everyone).
Roman has some good points: why is Logan criticizing his work when it's going to be reviewed by the writing team anyway? Isn't the most important thing at this stage for Thomas to be excited about his own ideas?
Virgil probably gets a little defensive here, like okay wow I'm sorry that Thomas can't always feel great and excited about his creations all the time. Did you even think about how much worse it would be if it was the writing team making all these corrections instead of Thomas doing it within his own head?
And then something clicks for Logan. All these corrections? What do you mean?
And now Virgil's defending Roman as best he can and still be honest with himself. You did kinda rip into it, Teach. I know you're holding is to a high standard but geez, look at all this red ink
Logan: Huh. It sounds as if the two of you think that because I marked it excessively, I disapproved of the script.
Thomas, glancing between them: Well yeah that's usually what red ink means (?)
Logan: No--I mean, yes, but this isn't high school. We're working at a higher level here.
Roman: And now you're calling me a high schooler?
Logan *adjusts glasses*: I specifically said this isn't high school. It is true that, especially for beginning writers, revision marks are usually an indication of
m i s t a k e s
Logan: Wow. As I was saying, Roman is not a beginning writer. I marked the text so excessively because I was engaging with the text. Seeing as it is, in fact, a draft, and will be submitted to peers for review, it is important that Thomas i prepared to discuss the material.
And they're all huh wha? but he wrote it tho?
Logan: Yes, but it's my job to take it from a daydream to a plan. If you read my notes, you would find--
Patton: Red ink!
Logan, thrown off: Yes, that's--we've established that I've made marks--
Virgil, recognizing an Epiphany from the Heart when he sees one: What are you getting at, Patton?
Patton: I mean, this isn't high school anymore!
Logan: Okay, you're just reiterating what I've said.
Patton: Sorry, what I mean is--when Thomas was in school, revision wasn't really treated as part of the creative process--it was a judgment from an authority figure, like a teacher! Or a parent
Logan, now interested: What are you getting at, Patton?
Patton: Thomas has a negative emotional reaction to the color red in that context.
Roman: But that's ridiculous!
Janus: Red has more positive connotations than negative. That's basic color theory :3
Virgil: Don't.
Remus: BLOODY BODY DRAGGED ACROSS THE FLOOR OF THE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
Patton is horrified
Logan, annoyed: Patton, you were saying?
Patton: Oh! Glitter pens!
Thomas: Glitter pens?
Roman: Glitter pens?! Now is not the moment for a consolation prize!
Logan: Oh, that's actually quite brilliant, Patton.
Virgil: What??
Logan: As I was saying, way back at (time stamp) before I was I N T E R R U P T E D, if you were to look at the notes I've made, you would find things circled that were phrased particularly well that I believe should go untouched to the final draft.
Roman: ... we would?
Logan: You would also find extensive notes on how the things you've implied in this script fit into the larger lore, which you have done particularly well this time.
Roman: Oh, I, uh--
Logan: I've noted places where we could have an opportunity to research a topic you've touched on and elaborate further, if the run time permits. If not we could possibly link relevant articles.
Roman: ... Oh.
Logan: Of course, minor grammar mistakes or small inconsistencies are also marked, but you do make a valid point there were not many of them this time.
Patton: So if we started color coding the different things Logan does when he revises, we could get Thomas to start thinking about the revision process differently!
Roman: Logan, I'm so sorry, I've been approaching this all wrong. I felt like you weren't even looking at my contributions or giving them a fair chance, and the truth is that's exactly what I was doing to you.
Logan: I appreciate you acknowledging that, Roman.
anyways the whole reason I put this on tumblr and not ao3 is because it has been sitting about here for uh. years now. So yeah they color code things and it helps Logan feel like he has a place in the creative process and also helps Roman not to take feedback so personally

I’m a big fan of Knives Out & Sanders Sides, so I kinda came up with like an angsty fic idea.
Basically, Thomas wants to rehearse a part for a murder themed role he got, so every side plays a part as a suspect (including Thomas) while one side plays the detective. Surprisingly, Thomas nominates Janus, who happily accepts. They go through the scenes and acts, one by one, until it dawns on all of them that the play, kind of relates to a moral incident in Thomas’ life, which one side caused but was never confronted or caught. So, the play continues, but now in an effort to stop the incident cause any more guilt to Thomas.
The circumstances all point to it being Deceit’s fault, however multiple sides can vouch for him and Remus. This meant a light side tried their best to do the right thing, but failed and decided to cover up the mistake and frame Janus so the whole accident can be laid to rest.
At this point, everyone is defending themselves and Thomas doesn’t press it any further since it had no problematic consequences, and all was forgiven even without the culprit being known.
Everyone fades out, Thomas too, except Janus and the culprit.
He knew all along who it was, and is willing to hide their mistake.
Why? Well, they’re having a bit of a tough time.
With what? With working so hard of course! They do so much with little recognition from the others, and instead only being ridiculed and made fun of.
They were bound to slip up. They did with Remus, and he told Janus all about it. It was admirable really. Lying by only using something well known (a fact in fact) to steer suspicion away.
“Really Logan, you did a very good impersonation of me. And I thought I was a master of disguise…”

day 2 - fusion @intrualityweek
Summary: When Remus and Patton can’t stop fighting, the mind decides to give them a chance to be in each other's shoes.
Pairing: Platonic Intruality (he/him for both)
Word Count: 1397
Warnings: Verbal fights / Hurt/Comfort / Intrusive thoughts / Remus being Remus / Cursing / Mention of sex
“Those are awful things, Remus! You should think of more cheerful… innocent stuff!"
"Oh yeah, because everyone wants to live in Care-A-Lot, daddy-o."
It has been like this for weeks now. Patton getting more and more distressed at Remus’ outbursts, which have been more common ever since the last major issue Thomas faced. Their fights seemed personal and within their own bubble, seeing as they were right next to each other. Janus and Roman had no problem ignoring them, it was so childish and unnecessary that not even Virgil was affected by this. It was getting annoying though. Once everyone left those two to bicker alone, Patton frowned and sank down to his room. The duke was so unsettling! It wasn't so difficult to keep your thoughts to yourself and keep things nice and decent.
Throwing himself to the stuffie filled couch, he reached for an old blanket and his Tender Heart teddy bear. A wave of sadness filled him, tears silently fell from his cheeks into the blanket he was holding so close. Everything felt like too much.
He hated arguments so much. The loud voices and negative feelings made him feel so small and overwhelmed. The need to just get out, get out, get out. How he closed his eyes and just prayed the tears wouldn't come out, this is not the time for big emotions. He just wanted to hide and make the feelings go away.
Well, fuck him. There he goes again with his big mouth and inability to just shut the fuck up!
No one wants to hear you anyways.
He is trying! He really is! Just spit out the mild ones so his head guts will be at ease until he comes back to his room. That’s exactly what he did… then why was today so difficult?!
You were never meant to be one of them.
And why the fuck is his brain not shutting the fuck up?! He just wanted some rest for God's sake.
You should impale yourself with the bed's wooden poles.
Just get in a onesie, what if you get tangled up and suffocate?
Get in bed and under the blankets, you should have hate sex with the others.
Hug your emotional support octopus stuffie and feel them hug you back… oh, the ways they could crush you to death.
Just close your eyes… It will be okay in the morning.
Except it won't be. It will be this over, and over, and over again until you die. Alone and in pain and no one will care about you…
"We need Patton. It's clear to me this issue needs his emotional expertise."
A quick hand gesture is all Logan needed to make the moral side rise in his spot. Eyes shut tight and in clear distress, softly bouncing on his heels.
"Sorry kiddo, your old man just needed a little rest. Felt more tired than a hooker after an orgy."
What… in the world?
The room falls silent and everyone is suddenly looking at him. Roman and Virgil look at each other stunned, eyes so big they seem ready to pop out. Janus scoffs in disbelief, like he finally heard how much of a petty bitch he is. Logan adjusts his tie, looking down at the floor, maybe he’ll find his worth somewhere in the dust. Thomas looks like he just saw a puppy being shot in front of him.
Wow, this little mind of his is not slowing down, is it?
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry! I didn't know why I said that… must be reaaally out of it! Maybe I just need some coffee and breakfast to get myself back on track." he said, awkwardly tiptoeing his way to the kitchen.
No one knew how to react to what just happened, so Roman spoke first.
“Maybe all that time with my brother is messing with him, speaking of him.” he said as he summoned Remus with an annoyed frown “Where is my copy of Princess and the Frog?”
Remus rose in his spot and stared at his twin like a deer in headlights, after a few seconds, he answered.
“I'm pretty sure I placed it back on the shelf.” he said, timidly hugging himself.
“Well, it's not there!”
The escalating tone made Remus flinch and look away, that seemed to be the wrong thing, because Roman spoke again.
“I swear in the holy name of Julie Andrews, Remus, if you did something to it…"
"I promise I didn't! I- I'm sure I placed it on the shelf, maybe I can help you find it! Just… Please lower your tone."
Roman was taken back by his response, his brother looked on the verge of tears. He has never seen the duke express himself like that. Weirded out was an understatement,
Before he could say anything, Patton came back and…
"Well, I can safely say the dishwasher liquid does not, in fact, taste like lemon and oranges."
Something was wrong.
"You will not leave this couch until you figure out what happened, do I make myself clear?"
It had been ten minutes since Logan left them there. Ten full minutes of distressed bouncing on his seat, eyes shut as he tried his hardest not to voice his thoughts. After what felt like an hour, Patton couldn’t take it anymore.
"Remus, all these thoughts… are they yours?" he said in a small voice Remus barely heard. "They are horrible…"
“I know they are!” he yelled, causing Patton to flinch. Upon seeing the reaction, the creative side broke down.
"I hate all of this! It all feels like too much!”
Patton’s knowing smile made him feel warm and troubled. A question popped into his head. He scooched over a little bit and started to fidget with his sparkly sleeves.
“Do you feel like this all the time?"
Patton looked up and sighed.
"Mhm"
"Do you get these thoughts all the time?"
Remus looked up with slightly red eyes.
"Yeah…"
"I never realized how much pain you were actually in… I thought you said those things to annoy us…" he started, receiving a soft laugh from the duke "But they are like a swarm! I need- I need them out!"
“Shh, it's okay. They will calm down, here, tug this string."
The moral side did with a tired hand, when he let go, a soft “quack” came out of nowhere. A tiny duck dropped from the air into his lap.
"Heh… And where did this little guy come from?"
“Little gift.”
A small giggle escaped from Patton’s lips and he changed his posture, visibly calmer and less tense. After working some courage, Remus decided to speak as well.
"I never knew you were feeling this much… It's suffocating. Every emotion feels fucking intense and it hurts! How do you live like this?"
"I just do… Comes with being the heart, I guess. My room helps me, it calms me down when it gets too much."
"Huh. Do you think I could… hang out there sometime?"
"Sure! Janus and Logan have been very insisting on the whole "finding a distraction" thing. We could do a puzzle together or watch a show."
"Yeah… I'd like that."
It has been like this for weeks now. Remus learning to use his inner voice, mindful of how loud noises impact the other’s emotions. Patton started to listen to Remus' ideas and ignored the ones that were plainly intrusive thoughts.
By the end of an afternoon discussion, they were already looking at each other in anticipation.
They sank down and arrived at Patton's living room. There was an unfinished puzzle on the coffee table as well as board game boxes laying on the side of it. Remus picked the neon green notebook and glitter pen and sat down next to the moral side.
They summoned popcorn, sodas and m&ms. Even some lemon slices for Remus. Whenever he got unwanted thoughts, he would write them down. Patton would hug his teddy bear, as a silent sign that they needed to slow down for a bit, when the emotions got too intense.
It was working for them. They also made a mental note to never anger the mind again. It would be fantastic to see Roman get all of Virgil's anxiety, but Remus was a good brother and decided to write that thought down for now.

whump concept: roman has always been regarded as the selfish one of the group. the brat who always needs to get his way, who always needs to have the best of the best, even if it means that others don’t get much of anything.
but when all the sides are put in a dangerous situation, roman sacrifices his safety/freedom/life for the others. the ultimate act of selflessness. is it enough to repent for all the greedy acts of his past (in the eyes of the others)?
what if it’s not?

I've been listening to this song a few times in a row now and... it so gives Logan and Remus vibes. At least in the worst timeline of where canon is heading. I mean:
Strike first Make it hurt When everyone assumes the worst I never have to say I'm sorry
Spiteful Ruinous I'm all things you feared I was Another villain in your story
You think that I'm a spitfire? You should Afraid you're on my bad side? That's good If I wanted to end you I could I could
I'm sinking down If you only knew how hard it is For me to climb out I'm kicking and screaming But no one can hear me So what happens now? The shadows are creeping in I didn't ask forI didn't ask for this
Logan, ignored so often, decides to change his tactics, Logan is orange theory vibes right there. He's not going to take it anymore and strikes back...
Cold rage Hides the shame Of images I can't escape Scars that live under the surface
It's strange What I became When part of me was ripped away And replaced with something worthless
You think that I'm a spitfire? You should Afraid you're on my bad side? That's good If I wanted to end you I could I could
I'm sinking down If you only knew how hard it is For me to climb out I'm kicking and screaming But no one can hear me So what happens now? The shadows are creeping in I didn't ask for I didn't ask for this
Remus, with the intrusive thoughts that plague Thomas, ripped apart from his twin and deemed the bad version of creativity. He decides to embrace it and loses himself in the morbid ideas.
Take what's left Of my fractured heart Bloodstained 'cause The pieces are so sharp
Take what's left Of my fractured heart Bloodstained 'cause The pieces are so sharp
I'm sinking down If you only knew how hard it is For me to climb out I'm kicking and screaming But no one can hear me So what happens now? The shadows are creeping in I didn't ask for I didn't ask for this
Never forget I didn't ask for this
Both of them, trying to reach Thomas in a desperate plea to be heard.

Headcanon/au/prompt idea for the sides and their rooms:
What if the state of their rooms reflects the sides emotional/mental health? Like if they're happy and doing well the room is vibrant and well lit (if they prefer it) and organized in a way that reflects their personality/role and makes them most comfortable.
When theyre struggling/unwell, the room dims. The life and color drains from the walls, key items and decorations that make the room their own start to wear down/vanish. Tidy rooms fall apart and cluttered rooms become hauntingly empty.
Now imagine that logan hasn't shown up in a while. It's been days and he hasn't even joined the others for breakfast. Eventually one/all of the sides go to his room to check in in him. They find him sitting alone in a lifeless grey space, all of the color and light having drained from the dilapidated and disheveled room. A shattered mirror and cracks in the ceiling only highlight the awful state of his neglect, and the only light in this dark, empty room is a dim orange glow from between the cracks in the drywall.

That time Patton thought Virgil was a Drug Addict
Patton was worried. He didn't like being worried and he certainly didn't like why he was worried. Patton had always considered himself the dad of the group, and like any responsible parent, it was his job to make sure everyone in his famILY was safe and happy. Patton tutted and sighed, scrolling furiously on his computer, scanning the paragraphs with his eyes. Why did science have to be so difficult to understand? Finally, he smiled having found a simplified page, that even had a built-in questionnaire! Perfect! He quickly glanced around, and upon making sure no one saw, he scribbled down a few of the questions on a post it, and cleared the history. There was no need worrying any one else.
Virgil was worried. Granted, Virgil was always worried so he wasn't too bothered by it. However, he started a new job and the stress had really gotten to him, so he sucked it up and took himself to a doctor appointment and gotten himself a fancy new prescription. Virgil read the bottle, noting he could take it up to three times a day, and shoved it in his pocket.
Over the course of a couple weeks, Virgil felt a lot better. He took his medicine whenever he felt panicked or like spiraling, and was even able to tolerate more social activities. He even accepted the other Sides' invitation to the mall, which he didn't notice Patton's look of concern at that. Yep! All was going well.
Virgil fidgeted with the pill bottle in his hand, hesitating before taking one of his pills. He was almost out, and he didn't get a refill for a couple days. "Dammit!" he muttered. Patton walked into the kitchen, glancing over at the anxious side, but trying to look inconspicuous. "Hey Virgil," Patton remarked, sounding casual. "What's wrong?"
Virgil tutted. "I'm almost out, and I can't get more until later," he nonchalantly answered, before walking past a thoroughly horrified Patton.
That was it, Patton thought to himself. Virgil obviously needed help, and he would be damned to see him struggle like this. He wondered if he should really Logan and Roman for this, but ultimately decided for the sake of Virgil, he should hold off unless it was truly needed.
The next day, Virgil was in the living room, typing on his phone when Patton strolled in. "Hey, Virgil, whatcha doing?"
Virgil shrugged. "Not much, just checking to see if my drugs are ready."
Patton sighed, "Kiddo, I think we need to talk." Virgil looked up from his phone and raised an eyebrow.
"Okay?"
"I just want you to know this is a safe space, and I'd like you to answer honestly, you aren't on trial here," he assured. Virgil just looked more puzzled.
"Okay?.."
"I know you've been taking these pills and," Patton stuttered, "I just had a few questions."
Ah, Virgil thought. Patton must be nervous to talk to a doctor about his anxiety too. "Sure, Patton. Go ahead."
Encouraged by Virgil's surprising cooperation, he recalled his questions. "Does taking this, well, drug, give you a feeling that you've escaped reality?"
Virgil cocked his eyebrow. "Uh no, not really. But, I mean that's the goal I suppose. To experience a better reality."
Patton gulped. "Interesting. Do you take the drug to make you happy?" Virgil chuckled.
"Yeah, that's kind of the point, Patton." he laughed.
"Oh dear," Patton whisperered. Virgil looked at him confused.
"Patton, I-"
"And do you look forward to them after a long day at work?" Patton interjected frantically.
Virgil tilted his head, "Patton they're for when I'm at work."
Patton let out a strangled sob and crumpled to the floor in tears. Alarmed, Virgil jumped up and raced over. "Patton what's the matter?"
"You're a drug addict!" he wailed, covered his eyes with his hands.
"What???"
Patton sniffled. "I know you're taking drugs, and I found this questionnaire online and rehab is expensive Virgil, but I have to help and-"
Virgil just started laughing, laughing harder then he had in a while. Patton looked mad. "This isn't funny! You need help Virgil, you're obviously dependent on these pills."
Still laughing, Vigil got up and handed Patton his pill bottle, "Patton, these are Hydroxyzine!"
"Gesundheit?" he asked, looking over the bottle.
Virgil laughed again. "It's an anti-anxiety medicine. My doctor prescribed it to me for stress." Virgil barely missed Patton's "Oh", before descending into deep laughter all over again.
Virgil quieted and watched Patton, realizing he had some explaining to do. "Patton, it's not about escaping reality or not being happy without it; it's a tool to help me function better, and avoid killing my idiotic manager," Virgil explained, trying to reassure his well-meaning friend.
Patton nodded, a mix of relief and understanding crossing his face. "I'm sorry. I just wanted to make sure you're okay, Virgil. I care about you."
Virgil offered a small smile. "Thanks, Patton. I appreciate your concern. If you ever have questions, feel free to ask."
"Sandy is a little idiotic."
Virgil cackled. "A little? Boy let me tell you what happened Wednesday."
With that, the two continued their conversation, Patton now more informed about Virgil's perspective on anxiety medication, and Virgil grateful for Patton's caring nature, even if it sometimes led to amusing misunderstandings.

parenting is hard
(1?)
Logan reached up into the closet, struggling to pull out the game without knocking down all the others. He wished the twins learned how to put things up neatly, it would save everyone some trouble. This was something special he had been saving though, and he was excited to show Virgil. Being the youngest, he knew it was difficult to find games they all enjoyed, but that wasn't an issue today. Roman had dress rehearsal and Remus was at the pet store, presumably looking at the rats. It was just the two of them today. Once everything was set up, he walked upstairs and gently rapped on the doorframe.
He was greeted with a frown, but Virgil turned towards the wall after a moment. "Hey, um- I was wondering if you wanted to do something..." He waited, and after realizing he wouldn't go without a response, his son lowered his headphones and engaged in the conversation. "What is it?" He wasn't sure now if he wanted to play now, but continued anyway. "A boardgame. It's kind of vampire themed, but I'm not exactly sure how it works." "Oh. Okay." Logan nodded and went back to the table. Eventually Virgil came down, but he didn't seem enthused. This was something he had never understood. He complained and grumbled about so many things, but proceeded to do them. If he wasn't happy, why didn't he do something that was pleasing? It was strange to him, but he would just do his best to make sure there was the choice to say "no". As Virgil sat down, he read the rules, hoping he wasn't forcing anything upon his emo.

I've been thinking about Remus' reaction to the evil twin comment, and the way I see it, there are three options:
Remus not being bothered at all. He and Janus lean into the role of being villains, he probably jokes about being evil all the time and doesn't care that Janus said it.
He isn't bothered by the fact that Janus called him evil, but he is upset that comparing Roman to him was the most hurtful thing Janus could think of. Additionally, he could just be angry that Janus upset his brother.
Remus is upset about the evil twin comment, because while he's used to being perceived as evil and leans into the role of a villain, he isn't ok with his best friend, the only person who actually understands him and what he's been through, saying the thing that's probably been used to insult him his entire life.
Now, because I like polls, I'm gonna let you guys vote and see which idea is the most popular.

thinking bout the moment in the valentines day ep where patton suggests they all flirt with each other
imagine them playing a game where they flirt with each other . roman loses immediately. janus is good at flirting but is barely better at receiving it
logan doesnt 'get' flirting at first so instead he lists traits he likes about every side. it works very well
no one expects patton of all sides to be good at flirting, but he is! he compliments you so sincerely that you cant help but blush (even if he uses bad puns)
sooner or later they're the final two, with the rest of the sides watching them eagerly, waiting to see who would get flustered first
they start flirting and exchanging compliments, the sweeter (and more truthful) they become
and finally, when the other sides think that the game will never end, one of them shouts 'i love you!'

run baby run au
this is probably one of my top favorite sanders sides aus of all time that i have ever made! i'm excited to finally post about it.
this au is very dark so read with caution!
(cw -> ableism, mentions of s/a, pedophilia, violence, physical abuse, kidnapping)
this story begins in an overcrowded group home, where two orphans, half-brothers, have found each other, clung to each other, and decided from there on out that they would never, ever let go.
their names are roman and logan.
roman is the older brother, standing at ten years old. he is willowy, starting to hit his growth spurt, and he has luscious dark skin and beautiful red-brown curls that sit wildly upon his head, just how he likes them. he is shockingly gentle considering how much energy he constantly carries around, and he is always curious. the world is his playground, and his vibrant imagination is always in use. and he is severely intellectually disabled. roman is a boy who has the same mental capacity as a six year old due to an intellectual disability, his iq being in the 40's. he struggles with basic tasks, and it is uncertain if he will ever be able to live independently. nobody in the group home could be bothered with parenting the boy, as they label him as difficult and bratty. so roman basically has no choice but to lean on his little brother.
speaking of little brother, logan is the younger of the two, six years old to be exact. he is tiny, extremely tiny in fact, and he has light olive skin and pin-straight black hair that he chooses to keep long because brushing it soothes him. he is startlingly mature for his age, and he always has a gleam in his eyes as if he's always observing the world around him in a careful, scrutinizing way. he is a genius, able to learn things very quickly, to the point where he is at a high school learning level when other kids his age are barely at elementary school level. and out of necessity, he has learned how to parent his older brother, helping him through things that he cannot do, and basically dedicating his entire life and all of his time to making sure that roman's various needs are met. he doesn't see any other option. nobody else is going to take care of roman, and he is the only one who is capable. so he does it. and he loves roman dearly throughout it all, seeing the potential roman has where nobody else does.
roman and logan struggle in the group home. nobody wants to adopt them, or even foster them, because they are such a unique case. many people have tried to separate the brothers, but it never works. they are too attached, and they cannot imagine life without each other. until virgil, their kind, standoffish, and very anxious social worker decides that enough is enough. he loves roman and logan like they are his own, and he decides to make them his own. he adopts them, and roman and logan are thrilled that they get to live with the one person in the group home situation who was actually nice to them.
but good things don't always last forever.
virgil struggles. a lot. with raising these two kids. he tries very hard to give them equal attention, but it becomes difficult as roman has a lot of needs, while it seems like logan has very few. logan can take care of himself in the morning. logan can make his own meals when he is hungry. logan can do his own homework without help. logan can, logan can, logan can. and roman can't. not without help, at least. so virgil finds himself spread too thin trying to take care of roman, while logan is sort of neglected, left in the dark. it doesn't help that logan is a very independent type who doesn't like to be vulnerable. logan doesn't want help from virgil. he's six, and then he's ten, and then he's fourteen. and he still doesn't want help. and when roman turns eighteen and has to deal with the transition from kid to adult, he needs even more help, and so logan distances himself even more, deciding to skip high school entirely and attend the local college for schooling.
in college, logan meets a sweet and happy man named patton. unlike the other college students, who view logan with irritation and disgust, patton is very nice to logan, offering to study with him and hang out with him after classes. logan is shocked, and a bit excited that a college student wants to hang out with him. so he accepts, and the two grow closer and closer. patton starts to invite logan to parties, and then, he slowly transitions into inviting logan into his dorm room alone. the two kiss within two weeks of knowing each other, and logan feels like he's in heaven. somebody loves him romantically. somebody knows him without knowing his complicated family situation. so logan distances himself from his family more and more as his relationship with patton grows. patton tells logan that he just turned eighteen. when logan nervously tells patton that he's fourteen, patton only laughs and tells him that age is not that important.
age is not that important.
and patton isn't actually eighteen. he is going on twenty-five.
but logan doesn't know that. and since he has never been in a relationship before, and he doesn't even tell virgil and roman about what's going on, he doesn't have anybody to talk to as the relationship between him and patton grows more and more...dangerous. patton starts locking logan in the dorm room, not letting him out until logan touches him the way he wants. patton starts to hit logan whenever logan says no to patton's advances, or speaks out against him in any way. and the very first time patton sexually assaults logan, the poor boy's world turns upside down. he feels broken, disgusting. but he can't tell anyone. roman wouldn't understand. and virgil? logan couldn't stand the idea of seeming like some disgusting delinquent, or a sex-crazed animal. he didn't want virgil to blame him. so he keeps quiet, and lets it keep happening.
(this is only part one! there is more to the au than this, but this is the first arc, and i don't want to give away the entire storyline in one post because there are a LOT of plot twists! this is one of my most favorite aus, so please let me know if you want part two!)

Too many WIPs, so here’s a fic idea free to good home:
It’s a Parent Trap AU, where Roman and Remus were separated at a young age and later adopted individually by Janus and Patton(*) respectively. Both kids love and are loved by their dads, but have difficulty relating to them: Roman sometimes doubts the sincerity of Janus’s praise, and Remus struggles with just how much he and Patton fail to understand each other.
The twins reunite at their school and pull off the switch, each finding in the other parent something they were missing. They decide that they need to get their parents together. Hilarity ensues...
Except, this is also a superhero AU: Janus and Patton are retired rivals, each independently trying to raise a kid with powers in a world that fears and misunderstands them.
Logan runs the school for powered youth where the brothers reunite.
(Oh, and the twins were originally separated because their reality bending powers manifest unstably when the kids spend time together...)
(* Moceit is just what first came to mind, but there’s lots of ways this could work. Maybe Loceit, with Patton taking the part of the teacher. Analogical with Virgil as the former villain? Janus as the teacher, aware that the twins are pulling shenanigans, and enabling their bullshit? The possibilities are really endless here...)
I’m elbow deep in other stuff, but I just want to enable some superhero AUs, okay?
