I was so distracted by the Bentley playing Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy as Crowley raced back to the bookshop this season that it didn't occur to me that we'd been in this position before.

Spat with Aziraphale?

Threatened by demons?

Rushing back to the Bookshop with the Bentley playing something overly romantic?

Check and check.

Friends, it is ENTIRELY POSSIBLE that Crowley was having major flashbacks to the bookshop burning and Aziraphale being gone, which is why he was setting new records for the drive through central London. Maybe everyone else already thought about this but I didn't until right now and I am not ok.

💗 Ep 4: Masquerade vs. Ep 7: Hello Rosie 📻

Thoughts under the cut:

Though the two situations obviously have their differences, there's also a clear parallel here. In both scenes, we've got a concerned friend/partner (Charlie concerned about Angel; Vaggie concerned about Charlie) who is about to go up to bat against a powerful Overlord for the person they are concerned about, only to be deterred and told to stop by that very same person. In both cases, the Overlord is very pleased (plenty of smug looks and satisfaction from each of them), and they praise the person who defended them.

I don't have a whole lot else to add, but people seem to forget sometimes that although Alastor is an ally, he's not really a "good guy". And Valentino is not really inherently the most evil Overlord or whatever. (In fact, Alastor seems to consider himself the "cruelest Overlord in Hell", since he's quite interested when Charlie compares herself to that.)

So anyway, it's interesting seeing stuff like this.

Bonus:

Charlie being offered two different things that she is very uninterested in. It's Rosie offering instead of Alastor, but since Alastor is also a cannibal and besties with Rosie, I still think it's comparable.
