Ethereal water creatures, I think they're the unicorns of the underworld...
Yellow Seahorse
The yellow seahorse Swam as One Finding her treasures Of Silver stones And us mere mortals Think there's none
Our human hands Wanting those treasures Shallowy go Into the crust We pull them back out ... Just a handful of dust!

Seahorses
Tumblr media
I like the seahorses best.
They move through the water as if gliding.
Light reflects off their skin
To make a gilded outfit and a crown.
They float around, knowing
They are too divine to be eaten
Or hunted down like other creatures.
There is something humbling
About seeing these underwater royalties.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like
To fly through the world without care;
To know you’re too blinding to be spoiled?
I like the seahorse best because a part of me
Connects with their brilliance and shine,
And although these tiny creatures look harmless,
They devour prey constantly to survive.
So I wonder what it would be like
To have such calm, controlled godliness
Living deep inside.

And thats just it-
I have made my intentions clearly known.
I have planted my feet.
I will not chase;
You will be attracted.
You will come to me now.
You will claim what is already yours.
-and I shall HAVE what has always been mine.
-and I shall HOLD what has always been mine.
-and together Love, itself will take a new shape
wrapping around us, enveloping cardiograms
imprinting off of our hearts like silly putty.
spreading like a flood into the world.
they will boil down our essence,
but they shall not distill.
they will covet our moments,
but snap themselves to no avail.
We are what this world wants love to be....
And so we will safeguard 'us' even as carefully.
. . .
Greater fire hath no promethean sourced
just saiyan; the Father's flame,
I write unto a Moth'er
So here I Am.
Full send.
Free.
. . .are you with me?
...don't blink or speak or say in any way,
instead, just take my hand
lets fly-!

How to Be a Real Life Mermaid 🌊🧜‍♀️🐚
The Look
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🐚 Wear sea foam green, aquamarine, teal, ocean blue, soft grey, lilac, periwinkle, emerald, pale gold, white, deep blue, and turquoise
🐚 Pick flowy fabrics such as taffeta, chiffon, linen, silk, muslin, and sequined fabrics that resemble fish scales
🐚 Choose garments like maxi dresses, flowy skirts, bandeau off-the-shoulder tops, tank tops, soft scarves used as tops, shell clutches, woven bags, and pretty beaded sandals
🐚 Accessorise with jewellery made from pearls, sea glass, seashells, turquoise, aquamarine, opals, gold that resembles the sun glinting on the sea, and silver that reminds one of the metallic sheen of fish scales. Examples of accessories you can wear are bangles, anklets, layered necklaces, and pearl earrings
🐚 Makeup Ideas: eyeshadow in nudes like a sandy beach, greens and blues like the sea, or lavender and pink like a coral reef, shimmery highlight, dewy skin, coral pink lipstick, and seashell pink lipgloss
🐚 Hair Ideas: loose curls that look like ocean waves, fishtail plaits, green and blue hair dye, pearl hairclips, and sea salt hairspray. Brush your hair with a pretty wide-tooth comb.
The Lifestyle
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🐚 Listen to songs such as Martha's Harbour by All About Eve, No Ordinary Love by Sade, Come Into the Water by Mitski, Pearl Diver by Mitski, Mariners Apartment Complex by Lana Del Rey, and Call of the Sea by Claudie Mackula (a longer mermaid playlist is here).
🐚 You can also listen to the sounds of the ocean, like whale song or waves crashing on the beach
🐚 Watch movies and TV shows such as Aquamarine, Splash, The Little Mermaid, H20: Just Add Water, Mr Peabody and the Mermaid, Miranda (1948), Mermaid Melody Pitchi Pitchi, Ponyo, Barbie in a Mermaid Tale, Barbie: The Pearl Princess, Neptune's Daughter (1914), A Daughter of the Gods (1916), Queen of the Sea (1918), Venus of the South Seas (1924), and Magic Island (1995)
🐚 Read books, fairytales, and poems such as The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen, The Mermaid Handbook by Carolyn Turgeon, Mermaids: The Myths, Legends, and Lore by Skye Alexander, A Daughter of the Sea by Amy Le Feuvre, Undine by Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué, The Mermaid by Alfred Lord Tennyson, and The Sea-Child by Katherine Mansfield
🐚 Mermaids are renowned for their beautiful siren song, so sing sweetly and brightly as often as you feel like it
🐚 Make your self smell like the ocean by using a deodorant like Old Spice Deep Sea, and perfumes like L by Lolita Lempicka, Acqua di Gioia, Salt Air by Skylar, Fleur de Corail by Lolita Lempicka, Seahorse by Zoologist, Nymphéas by Kismet Olfactive, Salina by Laborattorio Olfattivo, Alien Mirage by Mugler, Very Sexy Sea by Victoria's Secret, 20,000 Flowers Under the Sea by Tokyomilk, Nebbia Spessa by Filippo Sorcinelli, Tiziana Terenzi's Sea Stars Collection, Chant d'Extase by Nina Ricci, Sirena by Floris, Squid by Zoologist, and Orto Parisi Megamare (be aware that the latter two suit a dark siren who lures men to their deaths more than a sweet mermaid princess).
🐚 Make your home smell like the deep sea too, with sea salt scented diffusers and candles such as Yankee Candle Sea Minerals, Yankee Candle Seaside Woods, or Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt
🐚 Home Decor Ideas: silk sheets in blue, grey, and sea green, seashell jewellery trays, homemade terrariums, jellyfish embroidery, seashell candles, beaded curtains made from string and shells, paintings of maritime scenes, glass vases filled with layers of sand, seashells, and faux pearls, seashell shaped soap dishes, rattan furniture, woven baskets, treasure chests to keep your valuables in, mermaid figurines, a seashell or jellyfish mobile, a bowl filled with seashells, a glass bottle filled with ocean water or with a love letter inside to replicate a message in a bottle, mosaics with marine motifs like seahorses and shells, even an aquarium with colourful fish if you are able to care for them
🐚 Spend lots of time around near bodies of water, swimming in it to connect with your inner mermaid, or just walking in it and feeling the sand beneath your feet
🐚 Collect seashells and pretty pieces of sea glass thar wash up on the shore
🐚 Watch synchronised swimming, or even learn it yourself
🐚 Go diving, snorkeling, or mermaiding
🐚 Visit aquariums to see beautiful exotic fish and learn more about the ocean
🐚 Do your best to be sustainable; make the world a cleaner place for your fishy friends to live in. If possible, attend a beach clean-up group local to your area to help pick up litter
🐚 Carry a haircomb and hand mirror with you at all times (you can hotglue seashells and faux pearls on the back of the mirror to make it even more like a mermaid's treasure)
🐚 Watch documentaries and read books on the ocean, marine life, and nautical myths and legends
🐚 Enjoy snacking on seaweed soup, coconut water, and Guylian seashell chocolates
🐚 Take luxurious baths with dead sea salt, seaweed masks, small white bath bombs that resemble pearls, a coconut scented candle, and calming music

FLP CHAPBOOK OF THE DAY: The Problem of Deer by Lydia T. Liu
On SALE now: https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/the-problem-of-deer-by-lydia-t-liu/
The Problem of Deer is a lyrical exploration of the transitory landscapes that shape a #diasporic experience. It traces the shifting cartographies of the heart, moving from the dissonances of #history and geographical #origins to the multiplicities of desire and language. These #poems find beauty in their gentle yet persistent interrogations—through the voice of a young peripatetic.
Lydia T. Liu is an award-winning poet and multidisciplinary researcher, whose work evokes diasporic consciousness through a fusion of lyric and experimental poetics. Her poems have appeared in Poetry Northwest, Cimarron Review, Berkeley Poetry Review, Poetry Society of America, and elsewhere. A graduate of Princeton University and University of California Berkeley, she teaches at Princeton and lives in New York City. The problem of deer is her first chapbook
PRAISE FOR The Problem of Deer by Lydia T. Liu
In Lydia T. Liu‘s The problem of deer, a colonial administration is both augured and commemorated as the “place that’s also a problem.” In a parallel register, the “almost closure of the mouth” does the work of a gate. What emerges, what slips through? Poems, testimonies, compressed thoughts, a dream in which national borders no longer exist, but also colors, pliable anthropologies of all kinds.
–Bhanu Kapil
Let Lydia Liu’s The problem of deer take you on a multisensory journey where you discover the loves and losses of a descendant of diaspora. Liu intricately interweaves poems containing Chinese, German, and Catalan on a canvas of English to paint treks of longing and desire, meaning and myth, being home and being a stranger in the realms of earth and sky. Sip these poems slowly for a protracted delight because “the world today is half ocean half construction site” and “There is still time/to chose elation.” Encounter poems whose waves of meaning ricochet, overlap, and haunt you. That ache of nostalgia remains after finishing The problem of deer, fortunately you can read it again to assuage the pain.
–Yeva Johnson, author of Analog Poet Blues
This is a short book that contains thousands of books. It’s a template that holds meaning like a cave holds luggage or a hotel room turns into a cave. Language is unstable Liu tells us but you know it’s a pretty marvelous tool. The problem of deer is for sure a marvel maybe like the poems Marguerite Duras wrote while she was waiting for a film. Or even better like tiny seahorse toys spiraling in water you just watch those babies grow!

I'm trying to post more about my ships, os here is some info about my poly ship with monika, iris and sayori!! ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡
Tumblr media
🐘 How big is your polycule?
it's just the 3 of them, Iris, Monika and Sayori.
🐪 Who confessed first? How did it go?
In "canon", Iris is programmed to be a joke character who has a crush on sayori that everyone can see except Sayori. Technically nobody confesses since they both die, but Iris caught feelings first so I can see him confessing first.
In my corruption au, Monika "corrupts" Iris to also be self aware resulting in the 2 of them being tragic yuri together</3. I'd say Monika confesses first in that au (if corrupting Iris with being self-aware counts as a confession(´ ˘ `))
In general, I have no idea who confessed first. It was probably Monika or Sayori in a "hey, me and my gf saw you across the bar classroom and like your vibe" type of situation (>ᴗ<)
🦌 Were they already in a relationship when you got with your FOs?
I don't think any of the girls (of the club in general) label their relationship with the others. Whether it's romantic, platonic or a third secret option there aren't any labels they're just a group/squad/girls being girls.
However Monika and Sayori were already close (literally president x vice president) before meeting and befriending Iris.
🦇 What are your favorite things to do together?
Obviously write poetry about each other!! But they also like to watch anime, especially slice of life or comedies. I think they'd really enjoy watching asobi asobase together :)
🐦 What were your first date together?
with sayori - they picked out and painted pottery for each other<3 (in my town we have this place called clay cafe, where you pick out something, paint and then over a couple of months they glaze it for you and then you go to pick it up) Iris painted Sayori a cute candle holder and Sayori painted Iris a seahorse statue since he has so many cute decorations in his room.
with monika - they went on a shopping date that started out as buying things necessary for the literature club (more tea, supplies to make banners, etc.) but they also end up window shopping and buying matching keychains<33
all together - I'm not entirely sure.. probably a movie date
🦎 What were the first thing you gave to each other?
Iris loves collecting cute things so he probably gave them both plushies that reminded him of them.
Sayori is crafty and has canonically made jewellry so either a ring or bracelet of sorts.
I'm not entirely sure about Monika... she either wrote a poem or sang a song. It would've been difficult for her to pick out a gift since she's canonically a perfectionist but I think she would want to show her appreciation with a poem or song similar to what she did for Natsuki in ddlc+

I often ask myself why I still keep this blog. I guess sometimes I see stuff here that are so niche and make me laugh that I probably wouldn’t see in other “social media”. Or maybe because here no one knows me/cares about me and who I am. I can freely reblog/like posts about my mental illness and… it’s just a normal thing, not concerning at all.
I’ve never written much on here because I’m pretty insecure with my english I guess. But today, for some reason, I feel like I just need to send those words to the world even if no one will read it.
2023 was the worst year of my life and I’ve been trying to kick back from that but… how do you kick back from almost d*ing?! How you just live your life that, you can’t forget, is so often permeated by mental illness and chronic disease. And to pair up with that, you suddenly find yourself struggling in ways that you’ve never struggled before, like not knowing if you’ll have enough to eat on the next day…
I also can’t help thinking the world is so fucked up and there’s just so much suffering, and many people suffering a lot more than I am and it feels like just empathy is not enough, but I can’t seem to deal with my own problems even in a small scale.
And I almost feel guilty for not wanting to be alone, for feeling so lonely, for wanting so bad to be loved and appreciated and I know that those things would not save the world, unfortunately, but I think they might save me, maybe one day.
That’s not supposed to be a very philosophical post or anything, more just a rant. But it’s an awful feeling when you want so bad to want to live but all you see in front of you are closed doors, time keeps passing, and so little changes.
Anyways, if anyone by chance reads this, I hope you’re ok, wherever you are and whatever are the circumstances that you are going through.
Since I’ve rambled for too long already, I’ll leave you with one of my favorite poems by a Brazilian author, Carlos Drummond de Andrade (translated freely by me, so it may not be perfect).
Questions in form of a Seahorse
“What measure is there?
to measure us?
What shape is ours
and what content?
Do we contain something?
Are we restrained?
Can you give us a name?
Are we alive?
What do we aspire to?
What do we possess?
What do we remember?
Where do we lie down?
(It never ends
it hadn't even been created.
Mystery is time,
unequalled.)”

Review: Lynn Finger's "The Bicycle Rack at the Beach"
Tumblr media
by Elizabeth Joy Levinson. (art pictured is by Sara Blaske) “The Bicycle Rack at the Beach” by Lynn Finger is a poem of unlikely juxtapositions that take the reader into an underwater dream built around deft language and stealthy turns. It begins simply enough, the human relic of a wayward bicycle rack that ends up underwater, the “ribs” of which become a home for seahorses. We know how a shipwreck can become an underwater city, but a bicycle rack is something far less tragic and for that, almost more compelling as a ship was never so mundane; the transformation of the bike rack that much more magical.   And "the petal shavings from the moonlight" reveal more than they should; the narrator herself stitched to something as fluid, as elusive as the glassy ripples. This is the nature of all relationships, isn't it? As difficult for us to understand from within as they are to understand from those outside of the relationship. This is a poem I will return to again and again, as each reading reveals something new, a surprise of language or a surprise in the self. Read Finger's poem in Wrongdoing Magazine's first issue:

Stars! Both the burning gasballs in the void of space and the pointy shapes.
Animals! Snails, seahorses, rolie-polies, cats, mice, bats, and them lil jumping spiders.
Deadpool! Especially how so many people write him in their fanfics. CanonPool is a deep guy, Blorbo my Beloved, and he's definitely a load-bearing support character.
Music! I love certain bits of songs (thanks, ADHD), and right now I'm super into the Gorillaz, Dan Avidan's voice, the Mystery Skulls, and 90's-era GWAR.
Fallout 4! I love this game so much. The characters, the lore, the ridiculous things that happen by accident and on purpose. John Hancock is the sexiest man in the Commonwealth.
Creativity/Creation! I used to draw, but now I prefer to write and do cross-stitch projects. I love seeing the things others do/come up with, from writing prompts to those story posts (looking at you, God of Arepo), to fan art and ocs, to poems and crazy topics that get the creative juices going. Just today I saw a post that ended with three vampires in a turtle-shaped sandbox, and it was glorious.
