being emo about sparrow again but this time about how. and maybe this isn't intentional on anthony's end but it certainly FEELS intentional especially if code purple has been planned from the start. but i've been thinking a lot about how unlike grant and lark, sparrow has been willing to admit and own up to his own mistakes and then, past that, try and be better. he yells at scary in anger, and then every single time he interacts with the teens after that he is always polite even when the subject matter is difficult or touchy. normal doesn't want to be touched, sparrow stops initiating hugs and instead waits for permission. hell, between ep24 and ep37, sparrow proves that he's listening to what the teens are telling him, being actively excited at the possibility of there being a better way to handle the doodler in ep24 and then being kind to scary and in awe of normal in ep37. it's no secret either that most of the parenting techniques he's used with normal are a twisted version of henry's- like sparrow was trying to teach to henry's parenting techniques without remembering enough about them to make it work. it's just really interesting to me that anthony had mercedes tell sparrow that he needed to be better and ever since then, sparrow's been one of the only ones who is actively fighting to be better and do better even if he'd rather be the one to shoulder any bad decisions so that nobody else has to live with it. it's a fascinating character choice and i'm obsessed with it and i wish that was talked about when we talked about the kiddads

#have i mentioned a wilmon atonement au #but. without them dying 😭 you don't have to. but if you want to elaborate further.......................
simon lives in the village but works on the grounds of the manor house owned by wille's family. lots of yearning, pining glances that they each think are unrequited. wille sees simon emerging soaking wet from a fountain one day and isn't quick enough to look away, and simon sees everything there in his face, all the lust and frustration and shame wille is trying to hide. wille is definitely the one who accidentally sends simon a sexually explicit letter, and simon thinks wille is making fun of him and confronts him, but obviously they end up making out against the bookshelves in the library. preferably one of them is wearing a suit that's made of the same shimmery, drapey green material that keira knightley's dress was made of

A thing I find interesting about the forced politicization of detransition is the idea that now a person has transitioned, they must "live with the agonizing depression as a result of their body" - as though trans people (many of whom do have dysphoria) can relate with. But that brings up a point - the pain of people presumed not to be trans is seen as legitimate, while pain stemming from transness is seen as a failing, or righteous justice for... the crime of having discomfort.
I am very empathetic with the narrative of living in a body which makes you uncomfortable. That was my reality for around eighteen years. But why did I deserve that? And what about a detransitioner and me, a transitioner, makes us different? We have a shared interest, and it's very telling as to the reason there is a forced political divide.

Okay so the thing about Sally Rooney is she is so good at third person limited unreliable narrator and sitting in the complexity of people and letting them be ambiguous and messy and imperfect and then she’ll hit you with a line of prose that butterflies you open like a shrimp

𝐂𝐋𝐗𝐗𝐈𝐈. The release of the book collection Perinheri brought a few new details about Khaenri'ah that were mentioned previously one way or another but never specified more in depth as they do in this collection. One of the topics of interest I've found is the existence not only of the black sun and crimson moon as the astronomical phenomenons present there as the norm (solar and lunar eclipse respectively), but the names that the two dynasties take after: Crimson Moon Dynasty as the earliest upon Khaenri'ah's formation and Eclipse (or the old Blacksun) Dynasty, each name taking after the current astronomical phenomenon that Khaenri'ah is exposed.
Simultaneously, these two dynasties have aspects that differentiate them clearly from one another:
Crimson Moon Dynasty → During this period —which goes as far back in time as the times when birds had yet to be split into domestic and wild kindreds—, an orphanage was established in the pursuit of individuals who could transcend gods that came from outside the Kingdom. Said transcendent one never came, not even at the end of the Eclipse Dynasty punctuated by the Cataclysm.
A special command of knights existed that would no longer be present during the Eclipse Dynasty, and that is the Beastmaster Knights which used darksprites (riftwolves and their family of beasts) in order to fight outside sources of danger that poured from the Abyss. These darksprites are said to have been created via alchemy and more precisely yet, their first creator was none other than Gold.
Eclipse Dynasty → The period that came after the Crimson Moon Dynasty, known to be a darker one yet than the previous one. The prospect of using beasts to fight foreign sources that could bring dangers to the kingdom has fallen into disuse and instead, automatons began to be made and used in their stead. Nevertheless, towards the end of the civilization of Khaenri'ah these darksprites were being used in spying operations such as in Sumeru, or as a means of testing dangerous automatons in the making in outside factories.
Furthermore, it's relevant to mention that creation through alchemy continued even if these beasts weren't used anymore as part of the kingdom's military, granted that Gold aimed for bigger creations such as Durin and Elynas among other beasts as well as human creation with Albedo being her finest work of all that is known.
One last thing of interest is that the eclipse and the crimson moon were mentioned together in another instance that is Dain's official introduction:
◜[...] Chalk pursues gold, in this time inopportune, the eclipse is swallowed by the crimson moon. [...]◞

one of the things I like about being on tumblr in the marauders fandom is how close everyone is and how there’s a sense of community, especially with marauders fanfic authors and creators. like, i could go into the comment section on one of your posts here and, oh look, there’s zar and then you even went on holiday with mot. like, you all just stick together and lift each other up and encourage others and it’s so, so nice to see.
as a marauders creator on tiktok the environment is….quite the opposite and it’s so disheartening. that’s why tumblr is my little safe space in the marauders fandom because I can just breathe and feel like I’m actually a part of a community and in a safe space.
another bonus is that tumblr doesn’t restrict posts from other people’s feeds, unlike tiktok 😭😭
heyo!! this is so sweet!! :,)) the community on tumblr is really special and i am so incredibly thankful for all the wonderful people i've been able to meet/talk to through the fandom! tumblr is also my little island that i curated for my personal Best Fandom Experience. and yeah! it's nice because i think we all recognize that we're all here to just vibe and have fun and talk about silly little wizards from the 70s 😋 and we're all just excited that other people want to draw them or talk/write about them too !! (so we are going to encourage all the people to keep doing it haha at least from my personal experience) i am sorry that that environment and sense of community isn't there on tiktok :(( i am sending you all the best vibes and well wishes in all your pursuits!! tiktok or otherwise!! and tumblr is always here for a different side to the marauder's community <3

Ranking Keira Knightley movies I've seen
Found this ranking I made of Keira Knightley movies in one of my old notebooks and had to share with the world this new year's eve (worth noting that some of them like Imitation Game and Anna Karenina weren't originally on the list, so I added them tonight)
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - Keira Knightley is not in it enough. when she is, she's indistinguishable from Natalie Portman. 1/10
Princess of Thieves - baby Keira Knightley chops off all her hair and makes me bisexual. is a cutie with a reasonable amount of chemistry with the charming love interest. wins over grouchy dad by saving england and being good at archery. 8/10
King Arthur - Keira's acting is great but i don't think the writers knew what to do with her. i do love her costumes though. 5/10
Never Let Me Go - i barely remember anything about this movie. book was probably better. -1/10
Atonement - OMG!!! the PASSION. the YEARNING. this is the first tragic WWII romance i ever experienced and it DELIVERS. mostly though it's the green dress. the one she's wearing when she has sex with the faun from the narnia movies. that green dress belongs in Titanic or something illustrious. i don't think this movie's appreciated enough. i think it's time for a rewatch. 12/10
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms - little known (no one but my mom and i ever saw it) but holy SHIT is the world missing out. Keira puts on this high-pitched voice as the EVIL SUGAR PLUM FAIRY in a giant tuto. she is by far the best thing about the movie which unfortunately is lackluster in every way. 6/10 and all 6 are for her
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World - this movie should not be allowed to be so darn cute when it's about the literal apocalypse but it is and Keira is cute in it. she gets to go on a roadtrip with Steve Carrell in hopes of seeing her parents again before a giant meteor hits the earth and kills everyone. has a surprisingly touching ending. 8/10
Begin Again - i like anything where Keira sings. she's also a good role model for mark ruffalo's daughter in this. not my favorite John Carnye movie (that would be Sing Street which came out three years later) but definitely watchable. 7/10
Love Actually - why didn't they let Keira do anything in this movie? -2/10
Imitation Game - more tragic WWII stuff, though not as gutting as Atonement. Keira gets a turn playing the normal (albeit v. smart) person playing opposite Benedict Cumberbatch being weird. she does just as good a job as Martin Freeman while being way hotter. (also helps that the movie is better written than Sherlock.) her story isn't the tragic part and i'm not going to make jokes about Alan Turing who deserved much better than he got. 7/10
Anna Karenina - despite plalying the character whose name is the title, Keira was not in this enough. costumes were good but movie was approximately 1000 years long. still haven't forgiven my college boyfriend for making me watch it. -5/10
Pride & Prejudice - not my favorite Austen adaptation but you can't say Keira's not having the time of her life. she's a little giggly -- Elizabeth is more dry -- but she's definitely pretty and does a good job with the material given. Rosamund Pike may be the only person as good as her. 6/10
Bend It Like Beckham - the movie that launched a thousand lesbians. Keira gets put on the map as a tiny cute blond tomboyish lesbian soccer (ahem, *football*) player. she's a treat. 10/10
Pirates of the Caribbean - THE Keira Knightley movies. the dresses? check. the sword fighting? check. Pirate King with men falling at her feet? check, check, and check. best thing about the triology. got to kiss three dudes (sao feng doesn't count), gives a rousing third act speech, and gets to be the character who got the "keeps removing weapons from more and more illogical places on her person" trope. plus she sings! (a little.) disney did not deserve her and neither did any man in those movies. (orlando came closest though) 10 million/10

Like I earnestly believe that for all he's known for, gaius DID look at the black rose project and put his foot down and did his best to make it impossible to proceed. Even earlier on, before Werlyt, we were seeing glimpses of the cracks in how far he was willing to go for Garlemald. How is that overlooked? How do people see that and blanket him as a bad person? Like, he IS - but there's hope there.

Should also say that the main reason I don’t want the mutuals to know that I haven’t seen Atonement isn’t bc of like. Pretension or anything. But because i have a decent-sized Atonement tag on this blog and that’s weird right? A normal person wouldn’t do that

should i. study french. or go home and watch atonement
#el.txt#i have a french exam this week and i skipped several classes during the course bc they were so early in the morning#i just couldnt do it. so staying at campus to study would be the smart move bc i dont remember Shit#but i just got an email that the atonement dvd is now available at my local library..#never seen it before. even tho i know its like probably one of those films that everyone should see#but i saw a gifset of the fountain scene a couple days ago n was like. ok hm i really need to watch this (with bisexual intent)#feel like an uncultured fraud as a media studies major sometimes when there r so many like... iconic & classic movies i havent seen#and Yes movies aren't the only media that exists and i can be a media studies major who specializes in something else#and Yes one can also argue that there is no such thing as a definitive list of 'films/shows/books everyone should watch/read'#but still. i wanna watch more films. to broaden my knowledge on films. and because watching films is nice#also fun fact i'd never seen mean girls in its entirety before yesterday.#i remember seeing maybe half of it on tv when i was a kid#but my parents wanted to watch the news or sth so they switched the channel#then some time later i saw it was on tv again n was like 'oh hey i never saw this fully'#n one of my parents was like 'yea i sure hope so its a stupid movie' and changed the channel to watch the news probably#then i just forgot abt it until i finally watched it from start to finish yesterday with no one to interrupt me!!
