The Dangers of Exclusive Affirmation Ideology | Is It a Cult? Woke Up
Exclusive Affirmation Ideology" appears to be a term coined to describe a hypothetical ideology or belief system that places a strong emphasis on affirming or promoting particular ideas, beliefs, or values while excluding or dismissing alternative viewpoints. While it's not a widely recognized or established concept, it seems to convey concerns about the potential dangers of a rigid, closed-minded, or dogmatic approach to ideology

B-127 being significantly older than everyone else. B-127 knowing some of the older bots personally, having vague memories of what things were like Before, being surprised that the archives aren't publically available anymore, B-127 who doesn't remember his own age because it's been so long but he remembers enough to know Orion (Optimus, Optimus his name is Optimus now) and Elita are so young to be given so many burdens
B-127 is older than all his new friends. But he doesn't remember how he got to Sub Level 50. He doesn't remember what he was like Before. That building is new. What happened to the road that lead to ____? Where is ____? Was his cog taken at emergence like everyone else? Or was it taken later? Is there a reason he thrives with violence? Did he really lose his mind down there, or was he always programmed to be just a little stab happy? He doesn't know. He doesn't know.
Hey Optimus! You don't mind if I stick a little closer than usual right? There's just so much noise and colour up here haha. Has it always been this bright?

Smthn about escapism and why someone (me) might choose to stay with Kinito even tho he was a bit mean and also didn’t like that u had freewill lol
Also a little bit of thinking abt how Kinito and the Player Who Stays (the Stayer???) share a lot of parallels (working hard to deserve nice things, crippling loneliness, selfish reasons for clinging to one another, self awareness, dissatisfaction/disappointment with their respective realities leading to them idealizing the concept of each other, etc etc)
(The song lyrics are from ‘Woof woof’ by ARTHUR. It took a few listens to rlly appreciate it, now it scratches my brain in v nice ways)

anyway, the "they were doing it" bit on the solas flashbacks is wild bc it's like
ok. it's established that solas had mythal's vallaslin. which makes him her employee, AT BEST, in the most charitable interpretation of what those meant. and clearly there was a huge power differential, and she was willing to pressure him into doing things he didn't want to do, on her behalf. and later on, flemythal is capable of treating her daughters horribly, and fully mind-controlling whoever drank from the well on a whim, indicating that she has no qualms about what levels of cruelty or manipulation she'd go to. and despite all his "oough mythal was the best of them 🥺" stuff, solas gets very freaked out by a high approval inquisitor taking the well, which indicates he's at least somewhat aware of how much of a menace she can be, and is afraid on their behalf.
so is that not... a very dark implication for the writers to make? that's not a funny one-liner to throw in offhand, that affects both characters a lot, and is quite sad as an implication fhdgjgdfjgk. it would be an interesting plot point for them to explore such a toxic relationship and what effect it had on everyone involved, except i'm genuinely unsure if the writers had any thoughts about it at all.
#mythal#solas#veilguard critical#txt#hottest take is that if bioware swapped solas and mythal's genders it would be very obviously understood#that any romantic relationship between them would be imbalanced and unethical#which is of course a valid thing to explore in fiction and i think that is probably what they were trying to foreshadow#with briala and celene and the maferath/elgar'nan parallels#but it would not be... funny one liner material...#weekes........ what's going on bud....#i was Unconvinced by their writing on briala/celene bc the masked empire is fundamentally not very well written#but at least the writing seemed vaguely aware that “empress hooking up with her servant and getting her to do covert work”#wasn't a Funny Concept 😭#and then it just gets weirder and more incoherent in veilguard...#anyway personally i don't think they even needed to make their relationship THAT fucked up#since before vg there was no indication that solas was like. pivotal at all to what happened to the titans#so in that case he's just a regular lackey who got disaffected#as opposed to having to shoulder the Entire titan war moral burden on her behalf#so it's not inconceivable that they could have a sort of weird knight/lady dynamic where he eventually got disillusioned and quit#but if they're going with “mythal specifically used solas as a pawn to win the war then tossed him aside to become a dictator” it's like#way more intentionally manipulative seeming on her part and makes the idea of “aha they were doing it” quite dark fhdsgfjdfd#which to be clear i support women's wrongs and i think the idea of this manipulative centrist girlboss elf queen is Amazing as a character#but it does need some self-awareness from the writers and i am not sure if they had that at any point

For me, travel was never a reward for working, or an escape from my everyday life.
Travel was education for living, a chance to explore and create, a connection to another culture, an immersion into another way of being.
Travel for me was always about listening to the whispers of my spirit, rather than the shouts of the world.
It was my chance to tune in to that little voice that said, "there's more to life than what you know" "there's more to see than what you're used to" "there's more to uncover" "more to understand" "there is always more"...

Something I love about how Pride and Prejudice is told through an omnipresent narrator, aside from the witty remarks and insight into other characters it allows even though it's usually focused on Elizabeth, is how it plays on the audience's own prejudices and assumptions.
The narrator tells us very early on, chapter 4, that Darcy is "haughty, reserved, and fastidious, and his manners, though well-bred, were not inviting." We've already seen that when we meet him the previous chapter, and will see more of it in those following. But it's the readers, along with Elizabeth, who take that observation as not only a list of flaws (despite only the first actually being negative) but presumes even more damaging flaws must be attached to it. Darcy can be off-putting, especially so in the setting we meet him in: he dismissed Elizabeth within earshot of her, didn't engage with people attempting to converse with him, etc. It's easy to assume the worst of him in a world so driven by social niceties, and because we follow Elizabeth, who is so lively and playful amidst the rules which govern society. Elizabeth thinks he's bad tempered? It would make sense - he hasn't shown consideration for others much socially, why would he care when he's angry? He acted from resentment and jealousy and went against his father's will? That's not such a jump after the conclusion of a bad temper, his own acknowledgement of implacable resentment, and evidence of pride. The awareness of one offensive trait so naturally leads to prejudice against it, that we easily assume still worse qualities must exist. We are as mistaken as Elizabeth.
Even the idea that 'No, Darcy was never haughty or rude, he was just shy and misunderstood, the narrator is wrong' is just magnifying that prejudice. Yes, we do find out later that Darcy is not at ease among strangers, and was always intrinsically good; his morals and core values meant he was never as bad as Elizabeth believed. But that doesn't mean he was without flaws, and it's so fascinating that some analysis of his character seek to completely remove the negative traits which he eventually overcame after acknowledging them in himself. The logic seems to be that they feel if he had them in the start that he isn't actually such a good person. It's just another example of being so prejudiced against certain flaws that it's impossible for some people to reconcile that there doesn't have to be more serious failings attached, and someone can still be a good person despite being arrogant and not always nice. It's, ironically, being prejudiced in the exact same way that Elizabeth was at the start of the novel. It's amazing that Jane Austen was able to tap into that aspect of human nature so deftly, and invoke in both in her main character, and readers to this day.
Now, of course, the story is so well known it's rare for anyone to read it blind, so it's less likely anyone will be unaware of Darcy's good qualities despite first seeing his worst. Even if they do, Pride and Prejudice has become so genre defining that new readers who are the slightest bit genre savvy will be more aware than contemporary audiences were. But even if we know the story it's still so understandable why Elizabeth feels the way she does. We see what she sees and feel her conclusions make sense. Just as, even though the narrator tells us Darcy is starting to catch feelings for Elizabeth, we fully comprehend her not noticing and believing there's a mutual dislike. And though that is concrete evidence of Elizabeth not reading Darcy and his motives correctly, we are still so sympathetic of the basis of her prejudice that her continued belief in Darcy's lack of virtues makes sense from her point of view. We can see, as she later will, that she takes it too far, and should have noticed evidence to the contrary, but her prejudice against him based on his early behaviour and her pride at reading people correctly is so understandable.
Basically, in a story about the characters' pride and prejudices, I love, love, LOVE how the narrator's voice brings out those same traits in readers the exact same way we see it presenting in Elizabeth. We're all on that journey with her, and we can likewise learn the same lessons about ourselves as she does. Pride and Prejudice feels timeless, because even though society and thus the nuance changes, the book is about human nature, and that remains essentially the same.

Ughhh the thought of a Link becoming aware and trying to get out of the game but the game crashes.
Imagine have that lingering feeling that there's something else beyond during his journey but focused more on saving Hyrule. Maybe it's just because of the whole ordeal, right?
When the game ends, it's at that moment he feels something pulling him. He reaches out but a sudden force pushed his away. What was that? He already defeated his enemy. Was there more?
Link would go through wondering once in a while what was that until one day he meets Reader and feels that same feeling again.
YO????????
oh the angst that could come from that, they're back to a normal life not knowing any better besides this empty hollow feeling that no matter what they can't seem to fill, like a puppet cut loose from their strings. It could be a trick from ganon or any other villain but he's dead dead and gone. so why does he feel worse for killing him?
there's two different paths that could happen after that I reckon, one where they're suddenly back at the start of their adventure and everything comes back to them (new game+) Or Linked universe starts, only this time the link that was aware finds that he's the only one (or maybe not) that feels like he's missing a driving force behind his actions but maybe he's just imagining it and should take zelda up on her offer of therapy, until you fall into hyrule, and suddenly it all comes crashing back and they're like a puppy being reunited with their owner never to be separated from you again, they'd sooner see Hyrule burn.

Sometimes hard work doesn’t necessarily lead to the desired results. However, the fact that you are still resisting, trying, and struggling, makes the time and effort all the more precious. So, just because you may not get the results you want or need, that doesn’t mean that you could disregard all those sleepless nights, tears and frustrations.
You have worked hard. At least give yourself credit for that.
