Um livro fora da sua zona de conforto

Girls - The Luna Brothers

A escolha dessa leitura foi bem no "mamãe mandou eu escolher..." ao abrir meu kindle e não poderia ter acertado mais no desafio do mês.

O sci-fi é um gênero que não sou muito fã mas, admito, é bastante surpreendente, e a história aqui entregou essa surpresa, apesar d'eu achar tudo bem bizarro. Até a parte de aparecer uma moça estranha no meio da noite de forma misteriosa, eu estava ok, mas depois desse ponto, foi só ladeira abaixo, e eu só aceitei o caos. Por conta do absurdo, confesso que dei algumas risadas, principalmente quando a galera descobria como a espécie se reproduzia - homens, né -, mas o nervoso também chegou com os homens não tendo autocontrole algum e culpando as mulheres por isso - a mulherada passando um sufoco da poxa e ainda tendo que lidar com o drama dos caras é pra acabar! A união faz a força, mas foi penoso. Quem quiser arriscar numa bizarrice, essa leitura é um bom passatempo, mas não terminei fã da história e acredito que não lerei mais nada dos autores.

Um livro de um ganhador do premio nobel

Neve - Orhan Pamuk

Essa escolha foi mais pensada. Fui na wikipédia pegar a lista dos vencedores do prêmio e passei um bom tempo conferindo as obras mais relevantes de cada um para poder seguir com o desafio, e decidi por "Neve" pelo tema das garotas acabando com a própria vida. A história é ficcional e trata de singularidades de um país com um desenvolvimento totalmente diferente do nosso; outro país; outra política; outra cultura; outra religião; outro povo. Ainda assim, a identificação vem. A mistura/embate entre estado x religião, a falta de práticas que lidem com mulheres além de enxergarem elas como extensão dos homens, a discussão a respeito do senso de pertencimento de um lugar x a entrada de "outros"… todos assuntos universais e, apesar de muita discussão a respeito dos erros e acertos em lidar com cada um desses temas, ainda assim, não aprendemos.

É uma leitura política, como o autor fez questão de deixar claro, e pode ser bem densa para alguns, mas não achei difícil a compreensão e me surpreendi com a rapidez com que me apeguei a história e quis saber o próximo passo de cada personagem. A tensão criada para o grande evento da cidade, foi muito bem criada e me deixou cheia de reflexões a respeito dos temas citados acima. Foi o primeiro livro do Ohran Pamuk que leio, e espero que não seja o último. Recomendo!

Um livro que será adaptado para cinema ou tv em 2023

A Cor Púrpura - Alice Walker

Desde que foi lançado o trailer do filme musical que será lançado em dezembro/23, fiquei me coçando para ler o livro que estava na minha mente desde a vez que assisti a adaptação de 1985, apesar de fugir por saber a pancada que me esperava - e que pancada boa! Meu maior erro foi pensar que o filme teria me preparado para as emoções que eu tive durante a leitura, porque não foi nada fácil. A história de A Cor Púrpura é incrível porque resgata ancestralidade, denuncia o racismo e machismo na sociedade e na fé, trata de descobertas essenciais para a existência de um indivíduo através da sexualidade, e renova a crença num divino libertador que surge dentro de cada um. 

A celie é simplesmente incrível! Mesmo enquanto sobrevivia, encontrando um pouco de consolo na esperança de reencontrar a irmã e ter um espaço no céu cristão, encarava as coisas com uma pureza tão grande que a emoção da leitura não vinha só em lamentar o que ela estava passando, mas por ver que ela acreditava ser capaz de suportar tudo que viesse, e quando veio o amor, o cuidado, e o reconhecimento de que ela podia pensar sobre si mesma, além de desejar e sentir como queria, ela aceitou, e foi lindo demais. 

É uma história sobre amor, reconexão e recomeços, e vão faltar caracteres para falar sobre as várias camadas, então apenas deixo aqui a minha super recomendação para que leiam.

Um livro que faça parte de um clube de leitura

The Fury Queen's Harem - Meg Xuemei X

Esse livro foi escolhido num dos clubes que participo porque queríamos uma farofa bizarra pra passar o tempo, mas não nos preparamos pra tanta ruindade. Não tem uma parte coerente nessa história! Foi tanto ser místico/alien/mágico colocado num mundo de reinos mágicos e galáxia distantes que não sei como a autora pensou que daria certo. A protagonista afirma ser o ser mais poderoso do pandemonium - é até rainha de lá - mas hora ou outra deixa escapar que não faz a mínima ideia de como dominar tudo, e toda hora descobre um poder novo - também, metade dragão, metade fae, metade mais sei lá que ser poderoso pode ter ali, fica fácil.

O romance foi outro desastre! A paixão acontece super rápido mas ela se limita a ter um contato maior com eles só na forma de fae, o que acontecia apenas 1h por dia - sério, 900 séculos de seca e a bicha fazendo um negócio desse é completamente sem noção.

Se tu espera que eu fale um pouco mais sobre os coadjuvantes, nem tem espaço aqui. Tem monstros mutantes, príncipes dragões, bestas da floresta, demônios, bruxas, arcanjos, vampiros… Não dá pra falar de cada um. Mas saibam que estão lá por essa rainha invencível que ainda se encontra presa nesse espaço por uma razão bem fraca.

Pelo menos a leitura foi rápida - consegui ler em um dia; culpa da escrita repetitiva.

What do you think happened to the Magic Mirror after the queen's death?

Ooookay! So buckle up cuz in my DisneyVerse the Mirror actually has quite an interesting and detailed backstory, and you just unlocked it xD

So first, the the spirit within it is actually the demon son of Chernabog and the sorceress Vor, the man called Voland, who long time followers will remember is the Old Soldier, the villain of my Frozen 3 plot.

He was trapped in the Mirror ages ago by an enchantor, the first Storykeeper of Enchancia, who for years kept the Mirror under his own careful watch in the Secret Library. Eventually however the Mirror was stolen by dark forces who managed to breach the library, and fell into the hands of many dark magic users across the years, either by bequeathment, theft or murder, eventually becoming the property of Queen Grimhilde.

After the Queen's death, the Mirror was kept locked away for a time in Snow White's palace, until she and the prince were able to make contact with people who promised to take it to a place to be locked away forever, Spire out on a distant mountain where many powerful and dangerous magical artifacts are kept under watch.

Unfortunately, on route to the Spire, the caravan gaurding the Mirror is attacked by the witches of the Seven Mountains, the coven to which Grimhilde had once belonged, lead by the self styled Witch Empress Mammona, who for years kept it and learned from its secrets, eventually discovering its full dark lineage.

The Mirror instructs them to take it to the Enchanted Forest of the Northuldra, a place of great primordial magic, where they will be able to break him free of the Mirror using the latent magic of the place.

Luckily the Spirits that gaurd this particular Enchanted Forest are very against a great evil being unleashed into it, and alert the Fifth Spirit, great mage called Oaván (a native of the Northuldra who is linked most to Earth, and able to transform into animals) and together with the Northuldra move to attack the Witches before they can finish their dread deed.

A fierce battle commences between the Spirits/Northuldra and the Witches, both of whom call on allies to help in the battle. But eventually, though not without Oaván receiving a mortal wound, the forces of Good are able to route the Witches and halt the ceremony.

Only part of Voland was able to be pulled from the mirror, an undying yet mostly mortal man, left with but a fraction of his power, the rest remains locked behind the glass of the Mirror. Voland the man manages to escape with the last few witches, but the Mirror is left behind.

With the last ounces of his strength, Oaván takes the Mirror to Atohallan, a place none came come to save the spirits, and locks it away in a tomb of ice, succumbing at last to his wounds.

And there there Mirror stayed for long years, kept safely locked away from the world. Until a new Fifth Spirit was chosen, Elsa of Arendelle, who with her companions was once more was forced to do battle with Voland, who had been able to recover ancient artifacts that allowed him to bind the Spirits, using their power to assult Atohallan in search of his Mirror and the rest of his powers.

He would be defeated once more by the forces of Good, and the mirror shattered, effectively destorying Voland for all time, though slight bits of his malevolent influence would manage to tumble back into the world through shards of the mirror that were thrown into the air in the final battle. Not enough to cause great evil but enough to do harm to those unlucky enough to come into contact with them...

(Yes I do have plans for an actual Snow Queen adaptaion tied into Frozen but that'll be a bit yet I still got Godmother Backstories to do x)

Esse livro é uma das razões porque o gênero sci-fi (tanto na literatura quanto na arte visual) é um dos meus favoritos.

Há muito tempo, depois de passarem um período no espaço a humanidade foi obrigada a se refugiar em Detritus, um planeta um tanto hostil protegido por uma camada de detritos que separa a civilização do céu. Desde que seu pai mostrou as estrelas numa breve abertura nessa camada, Spensa ficou fascinada com a vastidão. Ela sabia que estava destinada a voar como seu pai e ser tão talentosa e respeitada quanto ele. Mas quando Chaser é chamado para uma batalha contra os temidos Krells — alienígenas que vira e mexe estão tentando aniquilar os humanos —, acaba sendo abatido por seus próprios amigos por ser um covarde e abandonar sua esquadrilha no meio da luta, Spensa ganha um título que ela nunca pensou receber: Spensa Nightshade, a filha de um covarde. Apesar de ela ter certeza que seu pai é inocente e que o que contam a ela não é a verdade, Spin (seu codinome) sabe que para ter alguma influência para alguém acreditar nela, precisa ter uma posição de destaque. Como a de piloto. Mas entrar para a Federação não vai ser tão fácil quanto ela pensa, mesmo tendo se preparado como pôde há anos. Ninguém está disposto a dar uma chance para uma possível covarde.

Mas tudo pode começar para mudar para Spin quando ela acaba achando um caça-estelar quebrado e antigo, mas com uma tecnologia muito mais aprimorada do que ela conhece. A nave tem até uma inteligência artificial capaz de se comunicar com ela e, apesar de ter parte do seu banco de dados corrompido, ela pode mudar todo o jogo. Isso se Spin conseguir consertá-la e convencê-la a voar. Tá aqui mais um livro que entrou fácil na lista de favoritos desse ano. A quantidade de surtos que eu tive lendo foi quase um recorde, acho que sinceramente nunca vibrei tanto quanto nessa leitura. Sanderson tem um jeito todo particular de te imergir na situação que é quase como se pudéssemos sentir a mesma adrenalina que os personagens estão sentindo. As cenas de batalha são enérgicas que quase faz você sair pulando de animação. Além disso, a protagonista, Spensa, é uma personagem extremamente bem construída. O crescimento e evolução de personalidade dela é visível e impressionante. E o M-Bot, a inteligência artificial, sem dúvidas foi um dos pontos altos do livro. Alô, mãe, estou apaixonada por uma máquina fictícia 🤣. O livro tem aquela pegada bem adolescente, mas uma profundidade bem madura. Certeza que vai entrar para os favoritos da vida ❤️ Esse foi o meu primeiro contato com Sanderson e eu já tô maravilhada. Skyward é o primeiro de possíveis quatro livros (e um conto) e é publicado pela Planeta Minotauro aqui.

Is there an order you're supposed to read the Geronimo Stilton books in???? If so which one's the first???

Well, yes there is an order to the books, but you can read them in any order you want! If you wanna read them in chronological order tho then uuuuhhhhhhh depends on the language you read them in because publishing orders differ depending on the language.

Since you said you’re gonna read them in Italian, uhhhhhhhhhhh I’m not entirely sure because I don’t read the books in Italian (unfortunately) and the Geronimo Stilton official website doesn’t have their Library of Alexandria of a catalogue of the Italian main books for some reason (if I’m reading stuff correctly) :/

Soooo ye just grab whatever’s at the thrift store and read away HAHAHAHAH the rest of the fandom I believe can give you book recs if they feel so inclined

Just some collages of some crossover ships that I’ve recently developed.

Wulf (Danny Phantom) x Gus (ROTTMNT) (Claws & Spikes/Gulf/Wus/Big Gay Doggie Husbands): Of course, this ship came to me not long after I started shipping Raph and Jazz. This ship came solely from my personal headcanon, where Gus is the companion/bodyguard of Octavia Goetia because she is Big Mama's goddaughter/niece, and Wulf is Danny's bodyguard/companion, so Wulf and Gus bonded over their protectiveness~

Melinda (Fantasia) x Nessus (Hercules) (Nelinda/Messus):

I really like the idea of Nessus being the first centaur Melinda met, and she accepted him as her mate unconditionally, which was a huge surprise to him and to her friends who find him ugly and scary. Melinda is happy with Nessus, and that's all that matters.

Angela (Gargoyles) x Batgirl/Barbara Gordon (BTAS) (Babsgela/AngelBabs/Barbala/Oracle Angel/ForeignAngel/Bluebelle & Lavender): I recently recalled my friend @frie-ice mentioning a Batman and Gargoyles fanfiction she planned to write a year or two ago. This got me thinking about how Barbara and Angela would bond and interact, and now I ship them! Don't worry, I still love Angela and Broadway too.

Guess who arrived yesterday! Unfortunately, while the horns on either doll were not broken off like others have experienced the Xun Yuan (blue) has some severe scratching on one horn. I've contacted the seller to see about getting a replacement perhaps. Bing Li (purple) is absolutely lovely though and I really wish they had done the semi-transparent dragon parts for all the dolls. The solid dragon body just lacks depth. I will likely be selling off the blue boy's dragon body so if you're interested, please shoot me a message!
