fanwork self-appreciation and self-rec post

I think a lot of us have that one fic of our own that we love to reread or that's really close to our hearts. But sometimes it feels awkward to tell other people LOOK I DID THIS THING, especially when it’s something you’re really attached to.

So: comment on/share this post with a link to one of your own fics/fanworks that you particularly love. Include any other info you want (fandom, pairing if applicable), but this is a place to introduce people to something you made that you love, even if they're not in your fandom. If you love it, someone else probably will too.

Even if you don’t write/make art, feel free to reblog so other people can share and read too!

I am begging people to be normal about completed fics, and in particular one shots.

I am begging people to stop demanding more from authors, and insisting that one shots need to be longer or have sequels.

I don't think yall understand how many fanfic authors are one more "where's the rest of it?" comment away from throwing out any plans they might have had to continue an idea.

Unless an author like specifically says they might write more for an idea, just-- assume something marked as completed is complete, and respect it as it stands, please.

Eggs for Killie is over!

I award myself the 150th egg for all of the little bits of art. Thank you so much for inspiring me to make them! It’s been really amazing to see all the hard work and to truly appreciate the wide range of crafts and activities everyone can do. Bobbin lace? Shoemaking? Knife forging? Translating Irish? It’s genuinely incredible.

I also really appreciated the people who were taking a rest, too. Thank you for that as well.

And I SUPER, SUPER appreciate everyone who was going through saying encouraging words, leaving replies/reblogging with comments, or liking all these posts. That was also a huge outpouring of kindness and time. I saw you doing it (and tried to make sure OPs did too) and any credit for people feeling empowered? That’s for YOU.

I know for a fact that people were following each other simply because they spotted one of their people through doing this. Thank you for being here - and being brave enough to find each other!

I don't know if I've told y'all yet (and if I haven't, I've probably Strongly Hinted) but I will be going into education, because that seems to be where God is pointing me towards. Very, very strongly. Specifically English lit. Specifically high school. It turns out that if you pray to the Lord very sheepishly: "Sir, I know this is rather Gideonish of me, but if you want me to do this, please make it so loud and clear that I can't ignore it at all", you oughta be prepared for the Lord to answer in the way He so desires to, in whatever capacity or degree He sees fit. I had my mother, my father, my sister, my family friend, two school friends, an administrator, and two staff members at my workplace come and tell me I should teach in the span of about a week and a half. Some because the topic came up, some without any prompting whatsoever. The chance I had to teach was like nothing else I've experienced -- not a blinding flash of realization, necessarily, but it was good and hard and joyful, and surprisingly so life-giving. And many other things.

There's a user going around currently reblogging/commenting on antiLO content with the intent of "digging up dirt" on people who simply read and enjoy the comic. Basically demanding the OP's of such posts to inform them of any 'stans' so they can add them to a 'list' that they absolutely do not have any good intentions to do with, along with making some very unsavory and completely unwarranted comments about the fans in general (and I don't mean the usual "lmao LO fans are weird/dumb/etc." stuff, I mean genuinely cruel wishes to have the fans of the comic doxxed/harmed/etc.) I have blocked this user for obvious reasons, and if you get a similar reblog or DM like I did from this person, I hope you'll do the same.

Please do not play into this. As much as I and many others talk shit about this dumpster fire of a comic and its questionable if not outright controversial writing and messaging, none of us have any right to go after any of the fans or stans directly. At best that would just be proving to the fans who already hate this part of the fandom that we're boogeymen out to get people, at worst it would be a betrayal to our own integrity as human beings who should be capable of discussing media without turning it into a harassment campaign. Making shitposts about the media and the fandom is fine, discussing the media itself and the creator who made it within our own little spaces of the Internet is ultimately harmless so long as it's managed within reason, but deliberately going out of your way to dig up personal information on innocent people within the fandom for the purpose of ruining their life is not okay and if you ever get to that point where you're trying to rationalize going after people directly, you need to log off.

Okay, before you jump down to the masterpieces listed below, I just wanted to state this:

These authors have given this phenomenal content for free, baked with time and effort. I have never once ignored this, hence why I try and comment on each and every one of these fics. However, my energy and ability to be verbose differs day to day. Some of these fics I have not given proper comments for, despite this, I will be on it the moment I can be. In the time being, (once I am able to find my comments on each of these fics) I will be sharing my adoration for them further in other posts (and most likely link back to this one).
