Look at the framing. It’s framed completely through Aang’s POV, and he blushes, because he has a crush on her.

But Katara? I don’t see anything indicating she viewed this as a romantic gesture. People seem to forget that in many cultures (including some of the ones ATLA is inspired by), kisses are a common greeting. Even in cultures where it isn’t as common, platonic kisses (especially from mothers, which the show explicitly compares Katara and Aang’s dynamic to on multiple occasions) are not weird or unusual.

To be completely honest, from Katara’s POV, this kiss has the energy of a mom being proud of her son for doing a good poopy in the toilet. The idea of it being flirtatious is honestly a bit nausea inducing.

Oh and bonus:

If kisses are inherently romantic, should we be sending Sokka to jail for Alabama crimes or what…

You know what I always wanted? An episode where Kagome actually manages to give in to the Darkness in her heart and it would be up to Inuyasha this time to snap her out of it and bring her back to her senses (paralleling how she always manages to bring him back whenever he goes into full demon mode), kinda like the 1st movie or the Tsubaki arc but like better because this time it wouldn’t just be Kagome’s body under the control of another but her mind as well due to giving into all her insecurities regarding Kikyo.

Honestly? This is such a good concept that it deserved to be its own freaking arc. The potential for angst and character development is insane. The parallels with Inuyasha, the parallels with Kikyo.

"You really are my reincarnation, walking the same path I did" except Kagome is walking her own path, based on her own decisions, because of her own feelings and then dealing with the aftermatch of her own actions after Inuyasha manages to bring her back.

I think it's brilliant because Inuyasha was always so terrified of Kagome dying on him that he doesn't really worry about all the other ways he can lose her. Or rather, he does, but it's never really explored in a serious or satisfying manner.

And the irony of it all? Like, Kagome being the one constantly afraid Inuyasha would forget about her if he goes full demon, only for her to turn the tables? Cinema.

Gil Chae and Jang Hyun are soulmates. Truly. They both are so strong and so silly even in these times. Gil Chae still dreaming about her dearest and sulking that it's not him when she woke up. Girl, you are the finest thing on that timeline and I love you for that. And Jang Hyun forgetting about the injury and straight up starting the teasing because she said "my dear". My dear. MY DEAR. MY DEAREST.

I can't talk about them anymore before I combust. Knowing that they survive at least till the penultimate episode is my solace because they're just so adorable together. All their little flirtations and teasings while surviving. It makes it more tragical actually. But it is just so good.

We had a wind storm this weekend and these two took offense to the wind making Sounds and injured themselves. Artemis (bottom) bruised one side of her face up, but she's acting fine otherwise so she'll probably be back to normal in a few days.

Stan, on the other hand, bruised his left eye socket and was acting Off with a capital O. He's normally not very active, his legs don't work all that great and he can't catch a deep breath because of his messed up ribs and stuff, but he was lethargic and not eating/drinking normally, so I swapped him into Joslin's appt slot today and took him in.

It wasn't my normal vet again, and I told her that Stan is a hot mess, and she felt him up and told me well his abdominal cavity sounds weird, I said yeah he's got messed up air sacs. She goes well, one of his legs is atrophied more than his other, and I said was it his right one because that's the one that was worse as a baby and doesn't work right, and she goes yeah it was the right one. She goes, it feels like his kidneys are too big, this could be a case of gout, we can xray to look for it. Now, I know it's not gout, but an xray will either enlighten her on the fact that I'm not joking about how messed up this bird is, or it will show her what's actually injured, or both.

So she does the xray and she calls me into the back room and she goes well. it's not gout. his kidneys are actually small and I was feeling his messed up air sac. there's a lot wrong here, but I'm looking at his last xray and there's a lot wrong there, and most of it is the same. he got a little better in some ways and a little worse in other ways, but the issue is that it looks like he jammed his hip joint and injured it a little, possibly from landing wrong.

you know. an injury. like from the ultimate panic of the Wind Making Sounds.

Anyway he got some antibiotics against infection and some pain meds and we'll give him a couple of tube feedings until he's not feeling crappy. For now he's asleep in my room on a roost.

Then again, NFCV's idea of showing Carmilla's abuse at the hands of a man is a flashback that only depicts her killing her master like a true #girlboss, because god forbid we see her in any other light. Why bother actually showing us the pain she went through and fuels her ever-growing rage, when she can just talk about how she deserves to take stuff from stupid old men like the most shallow parody of a radfem? 🙃

just read unraveller by frances hardinge and it was soooooooo good. the exploration of justice vs. punishment and anger vs. hatred through the lens of fairytale curses! the purely platonic yet deeply complicated relationship between a teen girl and boy at the heart of the story! the creepy marshes! the flesh-eating horse!

One of my favourite spirit work moments, one that really solidified my faith in my spirit court, was summoning an Earth-aligned spirit and asking her to help me get to know what Earth energy feels like.

The spirit herself always came across rather tacit and reserved, so I wasn't expecting much. I'm also usually not spiritually sensitive at all.

But anyway, I did the invocation, visualised the spirit, made my request.

A few seconds later, my body felt so heavy, as if it had suddenly doubled in weight. I was sweating, feeling the density of Earth in my body. It reminded me of the feeling of depression, actually, just being physically and emotionally weighed down from within. Which has some interesting implications on elemental healing.

It sounds like a bad time but I was honestly mind-blown, totally impressed, having the time of my life 😄

Since then, I've noticed, when I touch the ground with my hands, I can feel something – maybe it's Earth flowing into my body (though it doesn't feel heavy, more... tingly). It kind of feels like I've tapped into a circuit. Perhaps, with more practice, I can make myself a part of the land and get a better sense of everything around me.
