"guilt tripping the audience for behaving like an audience" has gotta be one of my least favorite theatrical tropes. like oh? we accepted the convention that people are acting out pretend scenarios and thus did not intervene when someone "did" something bad onstage? we paid less attention to a character that the narrative told us was unimportant? if we had rushed up on stage en masse to try to stop this event unfolding, the entire show would have fallen apart because you are actually actors following a script and audience intervention isn't scripted? and you want us to feel bad for interacting with the text as the text expects and teaches us to interact with it? no, fuck you, write better material

Bit of a shame I left hp before I entered svsss because one of my favourite tropes at the time was 'dumbledore calls in External Support from different fandom during ootp and they show up to grimmauld to help (and utterly upstage everyone in the process)'.
And needless to say Sqq, at any point, would have been perfect.
Like. He's a teacher too. A scholar. Secretly from the modern world so he'd have no trouble with its intricate and mysterious workings, incidentally making himself look very cool and competent in the process. He'd have So Many Opinions. He'd incite bloody war with umbridge. He'd project his feelings for sj onto Snape with a side of commiseration for his role and fate. He'd mostly pretend to know so much less about hp than he actually does (which, hilariously, he canonically name drops in svsss, AND his system is pretty heavily implied to have previously worked in, like wow). He'd be constantly comparing Harry with lbh. He'd have a running internal dialogue bemoaning the world building, the characters, Harry's fate, the general decision making process, maybe some death of the author. Geeking out about magic. Raiding the library whenever he's free.
He might bring his students as part of an exchange, he might bring a fellow peak lord if it was a serious mission (liushen anyone?) he could bring adult lbh. Maybe sqh? Or sqh could be the messenger with the system and/or mbj.
A self aware character who couldn't live with himself if he didn't at least try to change Harry's fate whether or not he actually likes the kid? He could canon that divergence before you could say horcrux. That kind, oblivious, smoking hot exotic teacher who had people ruining their lives for him in a world that was used to people that pretty and also hated him specifically?? The hogwarts students wouldn't stand a CHANCE.
Man the scenes are coming to me so strongly I almost want to write it just as a like. Satire piece or something. Just Sqq ripping everything to shreds, accidentally or not. Diatribes on the author biases. Unintentional themes. Iffy world building choices. Nothing new, but through the lens of svsss' Sqq it'd be something for sure XD.

estoril 2011:
Towards the end of the second session of free practice, Valentino Rossi eased off the throttle, allowing Casey Stoner to get past. Rossi says he backed off to take a breather, before putting his head down for a final attempt at setting a fast time; Stoner says Rossi was waiting for him to get a tow. Stoner says Rossi's so desperate for a fast lap he'll wait for a tow; Rossi says that this happens in every practice session, and if Stoner is sick of people getting tows he should go race on his own.
It went downhill from there: Stoner says the signal he gave to Rossi - tapping the rear of his bike - was intended as a call to heel, Rossi being "like a dog who follows you everywhere." Rossi in turn said that if spent his time tapping the seat hump of his bike every time someone followed him, he would have broken several hundred of them.
post-race estoril test 2011:
News has now emerged that Casey Stoner waited on the race track to impede Valentino Rossi’s smooth running on the Monday test at Estoril. This is supposed to be his retaliation for a similar move by Rossi during free practice to get a tow behind Stoner. When Rossi was asked if this was true he answered in the affirmative but also added some controversy by saying that this rivalry was fun. Wonder what Stoner’s response would be.
and:
The first reports on Mediaset - reporting rumors passed on by "a little bird" from the MotoGP paddock present at the Monza World Superbike round - suggested that Stoner had run Rossi off the track once during the Estoril test, having first circulated slowly, waiting for the Italian, then blocked Rossi again a second time later on. When asked by journalists at the opening of a store in Milan for Enel, the Italian energy company that sponsors the Ducati factory team, Rossi claimed that Stoner had indeed obstructed him a little, riding on his line as the Italian approached. "To me, it looked like he did it on purpose," Rossi told the press, before then passing the incident off as "not a big problem". In the end, Rossi told reporters, these little quarrels between the riders were "just a bit of fun."
So far, of course, we have only heard one side of the story, from the unnamed MotoGP source at Monza, then partially confirmed by Rossi in Milan. Identifying the source at Monza would be difficult, given the number of Italian MotoGP riders and team members attending the Monza World Superbike round. And Rossi's version of the story is much milder than the original claims, Rossi only claiming that Stoner rode on his line and got in his way, rather than waiting for him and running him off the track.
