I gave myself a writing challenge and I am fascinated by it

So basically I put the robins in a randomizer to give them a new order/role (because I just...kinda wanted to see what would happen + I like role-reversal AUs) and got results that are giving me a fucking brain blast.

Stephanie, the first sidekick who defines the role

Tim, the sidekick who dies and comes back wrong

Dick, the sidekick who saves Batman from himself

Damian, the sidekick who was never supposed to be a sidekick but would go on to prove everyone wrong

Jason, the youngest sidekick who is still the Kid Wonder

...So this is fucking wild. I've got some ideas and several of these fit perfectly (Dick's role is pretty similar to his one in canon), but some of these are fucking INCREDIBLE to explore (Steph being the first Robin is something I never even considered but tbh I kinda love it).

I probably won't write a fic or anything because tbh I don't like publishing my writing that much, but I might expand this into a full AU and post about it. I might randomize other stuff too (ie, stuff that I cannot change vs stuff that I cannot keep the same) but this fucking rules as a starting point.

Note: This is based on fanon that is used and accepted by most of the phandom, with the addition of my own ideas on how the supernatural aspect of how the DP universe came to be and what it consists of

• Life Energy •

Life Energy, as it has been spoken of, is what the Infinite Realms was initially made of. Or rather, it’s all the Infinite Realms was. Over the millennia, it proved to grow over itself, calcifying layers and layers of concepts, ideas, thoughts, split second feelings and recurring emotions from all worlds connected to it. Fossilized layers of everything mortal creatures eventually always forgot about would become embedded deep within the Realms down to its very core.

The first Linkeeper, forgotten now to the dredges of no longer spoken history, had given it a name. From the very beginning, they recognized what it was. And when they soothed those sharp, poking edges for the first time, they kissed its name onto them: Vigio.

• The Everift •

who are they?

The Everift are inter-dimensional beings, those that live in the in between of the worlds multitude. They are the connectors and the dividers. Everift stabalize punctures in a world’s fabric. They may seal it, or sometimes turn it into a door, or, on the rare occassion, leave it an open window, whether to assure it’s stability or otherwise. They are connected to the balance. They know all in a world that can tip it, and take care to watch over it all.

Many guide souls out of their void, into the Vigio so that they may cross it to their destination. Many live throughout different lived across many worlds. They do not create but they perpetuate. The Everift are the many, and they are the Experiencers; they are a Consequence and a Reaction.

what are they?

They are the Rift, Nothing and Everything. The Everift are a higher dimension, like all others that were born of the connection between the Universe and the Vigio. Many, however, prefer to exist, partially, at a perceivable dimension within the Realms where they can see and be seen. Where they have a consciousness over the many worlds they divide. Worlds that are brought together by both Vigio and the Everift.

Like those who go by the false title of “Ghost King”, the Everift, too, are Keeper. Worldkeepers. Sometimes these Keepers lived. Sometimes, in the worlds they bordered. As such, many consider themselves attached to them and the lives they had there.

The Everift are a constant companion to the Vigio, and to its “king”.

Worldkeeper and Linkeeper. Two sides of the same coin; they watch over each other.

I still had to skip a couple of stuff with this one because plot ✨

but i’m pretty satisfied with how it came out. Again, the Everift are my favorites. I honestly can’t wait to introduce them in-story.

Love to torment my sister's do-nothing boyfriend. easiest method is simply doing things to reinforce his belief that my cat is actually my familiar (he is genuinely superstitious to this degree). this is easy for me because my cat is very responsive and easily trained. our recent accomplishment? she is meowing and i say "Cashmere, inside voices" and she pauses and then takes up meowing again...but quieter. It's kinda funny to me that so many people are up in arms about Neo's actions in C8 when it's easy for me to dismiss simply because that ain't Neo, yknow?

Like, Neo has never pussyfoot around murder. If she wants you dead, you gonna get dead. From Neo about to stab Yang while the latter is unconscious to Neo and Ruby falling through the void while Neo uses the visuals of Ruby's loved ones to try and weaken her enough for Neo to strangle her to death, Neo has always been fairly direct in her methods

So, it's difficult to reconcile that version of Neo with the one who would passively let her target take themselves out

Not to mention the semblance shift. Neo's semblance, Overactive Imagination, is illusions manifested via semblance glass. They shatter upon contact. Because they're illusions

That's the biggest deal breaker for me. Crwby changed her semblance so much she might as well be a whole ass other person. Fuck, it could've been an Afteran. It's not like Neo was needed here, especially with how easily she was discarded

Instead of illusions, Neo's new abilities seem to be... animorphing people/creatures she may or may not have met via semblance clones and allowing them sentience

The point of illusions is they're not physical. It's not an actual transformation, but rather the aesthetic of one. This could have worked if they kept the semblance evolution to multiple illusions at once OR allowing physical transformation, either of which would have been super cool to see, but they pushed too far. There's too many upgrades that deviate so much from the original ability that it's a whole ass new power

So, immediately on her introduction, the og Jabber is killed(?) and in its place is... multiple Neo-Jabbers. Who can eat other creatures alive. And apparently desire to do so

McFUCJING WHAT

This implies that all her semblance clones of others have their own sentience. Which would never make sense when she never interacted with anyone in that torture scene besides Roman. Seriously why the fuck is Lionheart here? Give us nothing, king

Now, given that we are shown the stream of souls, what could have happened is the illusions were possessed by folks who needed to get a last word in, but that's not. what. happened.

Instead, we have the writers disregarding a character's inability to speak so they can brutalize a teenager in the stupidest way possible, and throwing away all logic of a fairly easy to understand power because it suits their plot needs
