I gave myself a writing challenge and I am fascinated by it
So basically I put the robins in a randomizer to give them a new order/role (because I just...kinda wanted to see what would happen + I like role-reversal AUs) and got results that are giving me a fucking brain blast.
Stephanie, the first sidekick who defines the role
Tim, the sidekick who dies and comes back wrong
Dick, the sidekick who saves Batman from himself
Damian, the sidekick who was never supposed to be a sidekick but would go on to prove everyone wrong
Jason, the youngest sidekick who is still the Kid Wonder
...So this is fucking wild. I've got some ideas and several of these fit perfectly (Dick's role is pretty similar to his one in canon), but some of these are fucking INCREDIBLE to explore (Steph being the first Robin is something I never even considered but tbh I kinda love it).
I probably won't write a fic or anything because tbh I don't like publishing my writing that much, but I might expand this into a full AU and post about it. I might randomize other stuff too (ie, stuff that I cannot change vs stuff that I cannot keep the same) but this fucking rules as a starting point.
#uhhh what am I calling this??#randomizedrobinsau#stephanie brown#oh my god I am so excited to figure out how tf to write this.#because she's my favorite of these characters and having HER be the first sidekick + the one who has a mentor/older sister relationship#with the others?? kickass. though I'll probably keep her and Tim's relationship as 'dating-then-exes' because I think it's funny#and then SHE can be the Robin who Tim got fixated on + figured out her identity?? holy fuck and then the angst of Tim later dying#Tim Drake#tbh I kinda wish he'd gotten a different position because 'sidekick who dies' Tim has kinda been done a lot with the standard#reverse robin aus. But it'll still be fun to write. Definitely going the Joker Junior route with this because Batman Beyond kicks ass#Dick Grayson#He'll honestly probably be the easiest. Like...his role has not changed much outside of being younger/not the one who defines this#But I still think it'll be good to see how well I know Dick beyond his eldest brother thing (which is my best way of relating to him)#Damian al ghul#damian wayne#oh this is gonna kick ass#Bruce does not want his son to be a sidekick but Damian just kinda forces his way into that role#and everybody doubts him because of his history with the league but he later proves himself more than capable#to the point that he can set out mostly on his own and still thrive#Jason Todd#Jason being the baby of the family is also something I have never thought about but holy shit it could kick ass#I really hope that I don't roll 'Jason must die' or 'Robin 5 must die' on the randomizer. I just kinda want Jason to live this time#But unfortunately I double-screwed him because he's on the 'must happen' wheel twice now. I did not think these prompts through#TBH I am so happy that none of them rolled their OG roles. because that would have been so fucking boring

Okay, so you know “Justice League meets Batman’s kids, who they’d previously been unaware existed” AUs?
So picture that.....but this time, instead of them just having no knowledge of any of these other Gotham vigilantes at all....the Batkids all migrate to various cities as they get older and become known as their protectors - Dick in Bludhaven, Tim in San Francisco, Cass in Hong Kong, etc....
Meaning they’re all established figures, the Justice League are aware of them as solo local heroes who stick to their cities and so they just don’t interact with them much if at all, or else some are members of team lineups but are particularly vague about their histories or life outside of the team’s adventures....
So the big reveal isn’t that they become aware of all these other Gotham vigilantes all at once....its that some big conflict or whatever requires a huge team up of all available heroes, and in the aftermath, they figure out that like.....despite being known as solo heroes who work alone or loners outside of their team settings, 80% of these heroes all not only seem to already know each other, they seem to be related.
And so naturally they all turn to Batman, who has profiles on every known hero and they thus figure had researched these individuals too and just never mentioned this little detail, and they’re like, “Did you know about this?”
And then Nightwing turns to him too, arms crossed and is like, “Yeah Dad, did you know about this?”
And the infamous Red Hood is all: “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I have never met any of these people before in my life. Lives? Whatever.”
And then Red Robin moodily grates out “I have no siblings.” Since he’s nursing a grudge since Dick and Jason broke into his apartment the night before and replaced all his custom Red Robin gear with Darkwing Duck merchandise and his vengeance will be swift and also totally disproportionate because things escalate quickly in this family, that’s true in every universe.
Cass meanwhile has deftly skewered Jason’s lie by walking over to him and brazenly patting down the man with many many guns with no fear whatsoever. He squawks and futilely attempts to bat her hands away as she riffles through his many pockets, but he doesn’t seem shocked, just annoyed. Eventually, she pulls away and triumphantly reveals a box of Hello Kitty themed band-aids.
“So these are yours then? Just for you?” Black Bat asks smugly. Red Hood squints at the box.
“What the fuck? How long have those been in my jacket? Why are those in my jacket? Did you freaking plant them in my jacket just on the offchance you could at some point in the distant future use them at my expense?”
Black Bat frowns, puzzled. “Yes?”
“Oh come on, Dead Hood,” Spoiler says with an exaggerated toss of her head meant to convey she’s rolling her eyes beneath her own mask. She skips her way across the room to Black Bat and then drapes herself languidly all over the smaller woman. Who in turn doesn’t so much as twitch beneath the sudden added mass as Spoiler holds out her hand towards the box of band-aids.
“One please. I have a boo-boo,” she says with easy familiarity straight into the intimidating cowl of Black Bat. Only then does she deign to finish her train of thought with Red Hood.
“I mean seriously, are you saying you don’t have potential blackmail set-ups, pre-rigged releases of incriminating material, and a random assortment of traps, pratfalls and mortifying scenarios in place for the express purpose of being able to humiliate any and all of your siblings at any given moment, without any need for additional prep time?”
“Is this true, Little Wing?” Nightwing whirls on the larger Red Hood with a faux-scandalized gasp. The founder and leader of the Titans, formerly the Teen Titans, renowned for his stratagems and calm competence when directing squads of supers in the heat of battle while he keeps pace with nothing more than naturally acquired acrobatics and a utility belt that apparently uses the same technology as Wonder Woman’s invisible jet....now appears to be....staggering with the back of his hand pressed to his forehead, moaning about how he felt....faint?
What is happening right now, several dozen superheroes want to know. Is this a drill? Are they supposed to be checking for signs of a mental ambush from undetected psychic saboteurs? Did they all hit their heads at the exact same time and are now experiencing some kind of shared mass concussion?
Look, that wouldn’t be the weirdest thing to ever happen on the Watchtower.
“Have I failed you so utterly?” The veteran child hero bemoans with a dramatic twirl - that when contrasted with his stern demeanor of a mere ten minutes ago - makes the fears of telepathic infiltration seem less paranoia and more....concerningly probable. “Did you learn nothing from me? Did you learn nothing from B?”
He stops and jabs a finger up at the sky. “Quick, everyone! What is the very first rule of Living While Batty?”
As if by rote, over a half a dozen voices chime in from all over the room, causing various heroes to jump. Spooked by yet more and more vigilantes joining in some kind of mass recitation like they and they alone have some kind of clue what the hell is going on and everyone else just hadn’t been invited to the party. Which is just rude, honestly. Nobody likes feeling like they weren’t invited to the party. Not even superheroes.
“If you’re not going to bother preparing for every possible contingency and at least six impossible ones, you might as well just stay in bed.”
Even the Red Hood joins in the Illuminati chant or Cub Scout pledge or demonic ritual or whatever the fuck that just was, though his slumped and exasperated posture gives away every hint of sulkiness his headgear otherwise would have kept safely hidden. He’s surprisingly more...expressive, than most who’d only known of him by reputation had expected him to be. The day continues to yield surprises.
“Of fucking course I do,” he growls out, snatching the box from Black Bat. She doesn’t even fight to hold onto it, just lets it go with a knowing smirk. “I wasn’t surprised by the idea of it, I was just surprised she bothered with such a weak effort. Like yeah whatever, actually those could be mine. I use those all the time at home. So what?”
He aggressively yanks one of the band-aids out of the box, fumbles with the peel-off strips with one hand and he roughly rolls up the sleeve of his jacket with the other. Then just slaps it on his forearm and raises said appendage high, showing it off this way and that. “See?”
“Oh yeah, for sure,” Signal drawls from the other side of the room, nodding his head approvingly. “Totally convincing. Nice job walking that one back, you really showed them.”
Red Hood’s head snaps in his direction with ominous intent. “Watch it, Day-Glo.”
Signal just snorts.
“Yeah, like I’m gonna take constructive criticism on my name and costume from a dude who’s spent the last several years calling himself Red HOOD while running around in a freaking HELMET.”
“Its not meant to be literal, you fucking pedant.”
“So wait, its not literally a helmet? Huh, does it at least protect your head literally, or just like...symbolically? Like if Bane were to clock you across the head, would your concussion just be a metaphor? What’s the treatment protocol for a metaphorical concussion? Fluids, bedrest and a philosophical prescription of two chapters of Chicken Soup for the Soul as needed?”
“Laugh it up, KC and the Sunshine Band,” Red Hood bats back. “You just got yourself disinvited from Thursday night’s poker game.”
Signal just grins and folds his arms over his chest cockily. “Please. You’ve been looking for an excuse to ban me for weeks, cuz you know until you can prove I’m using my ghost vision to cheat, you can’t actually bring suit against me for it in Family Court.”
“That, and also Family Court isn’t a real thing, you toddler. Stop validating Wing-a-ding-ding’s obsession with Shitty TV Nostalgia and just call it that thing where Oracle traps us all in a room until we settle our latest fight without anyone getting stabbed.”
“Yeah, but like, say that five times fast,” Spoiler pipes up. “Its just not practical. Family Court’s way easier.”
“Says the one who’s not even in our fucking family.”
“And yet I grace you all with my sublime presence anyway,” she blows a kiss at him, beatifically unbothered. “You’re welcome.”
The Red Hood scoffs and rounds on his heel, zeroing in on Batwoman in the far corner.
“Hey Auntie B, my siblings are all dead to me and I just helped stop an alien invasion so I deserve nice things like a fun Saturday night. Can you get me into Dad’s fundraiser so I can crash it? He won’t put me back on the list until I promise not to bring any C-4 with me and I won’t promise not to bring any C-4 because he should just trust me that I won’t when I say I’m not gonna and he won’t trust me that I won’t until I admit I shouldn’t have brought any to that sting last month where three tiny little yachts blew up through barely any fault of my own, and I’m just not gonna do that ever because I have convictions and I feel I shouldn’t have to be punished for that. Y’know?”
Batwoman blinks at him. “Kid, I’m not gonna lie to you. You’re my nephew and I love you, but I stopped listening three seconds into all that.”
“Ugh, fine. Can you help me crash Dad’s event tonight so I can teach him a lesson about why he should just trust me not to make a scene so I don’t have to always make a scene to make a point.”
“Tempting as you make that sound,” she says wryly, “I have a strict policy for dealing with you lot and your......everything. I only worry about tolerating one of you at a time, and there’s seven of you, and seven days in the week. You each get your own. You know perfectly well its Robin’s day today. You get me on Tuesday, just like always.”
“Auntie B, we’re not like other families, are we?” Red Robin’s delivery is sarcastically childish and his question clearly rhetorical. Most of his attention is fixated on whatever it is he’s doing with his wrist-mounted computer.
“No sweetie, we’re all severely fucked in the head and a little bit too comfortable with that.”
“Just checking. Oh hey, Hood, I just emailed you a patch for the hole in your firewall I exploited when replacing all my shit using your accounts just now.”
“You did what?”
“Used your accounts to pay to replace all my stuff that you fucked with last night?” Red Robin says slowly. “Did you not realize that I’ve been sticking within ten feet of you for the past five minutes just so I could clone your devices and do all that while BB and Spoiler kept you distracted? I gotta say, bro, I feel like that’s on you then.”
Red Hood swivels his helmeted head in the direction of the aforementioned two. Black Bat waves. Spoiler shoots him an utterly unrepentant thumbs up.
“You’d side with your ex over me? That’s what its come to?”
“My only allegiance is to chaos,” Spoiler says brightly. Black Bat shrugs.
“Plus he bribes better.”
“Hateful,” Red Hood points at Black Bat, moving on to level the same finger at Spoiler, who curtsies in acknowledgment: “Hateful-er.”
Then the finger rounds the bases to aim judgmentally at Red Robin. “Hateful-est. And that was all Nightwing’s idea anyway, not mine.”
“Oh, I assumed as much,” he says casually. “Your idea of a prank tends to have more of a Carrie vibe. Or be a literal literary reenactment.”
“Its called an homage, 4chan.”
“Whatever, plagiarist. And anyway, I couldn’t go after ‘Wing for payback on this one. He used an Immunity card. If you didn’t want me getting back at you, you should have used one too."
Red Hood looms aggressively. Red Robin ignores willfully. Round and round they go. Superheroes who can survive excessive G-Forces are getting dizzy just watching them have a largely motionless stand-off. That shouldn’t be how that works, but whatever. All the most infamously reclusive and isolated heroes in all hero-dom are apparently part of the same one big reclusive and isolated family of fucked up weirdos and they’re all officially bonkers. Nothing makes sense anymore. Reality broke. Try another stall.
“Okay, but see, in order to have an Immunity card, I would have to participate in one of you losers’ stupid Immunity challenges,” the Red Hood drags out with exaggerated patience. “And I’m just not going to do that, on account of those all being fucking stupid. You see the problem there?”
Red Robin just shrugs. “I don’t know what to tell you, bro. You can have principles or you can have an Immunity card. You can’t have both.”
Meanwhile, on another side of....the same room.....look, its like, an octagonal room, probably. It has a lot of sides. Robin fends off questions from an aggrieved looking Superboy.
“You never told me you had a bajillion brothers and sisters!”
“Yes but I never said I didn’t either.”
Superboy rolls his eyes. “Oh yeah, so I should just assume everyone I meet has a bajillion secret brothers and sisters?”
“Well clearly it would have worked out in your favor in this instance if you had, now wouldn’t it?”
“Assuming of course that you can trust what has been said or implied here today and I am actually related to any of those numbskulls. Which I am not actually admitting to,” Robin tacks on hastily.
Superboy eyes him dubiously. “You joined in the same creepy chant all the others did and then got super self-conscious and looked around to see if anyone had noticed. Which uh. I did.”
“First off, your interpretation of body language is abyssmal. I do not get self-conscious,” Robin says with a delivery that probably could have benefited from being a little less self-conscious. “And second....that proves nothing. I guessed what they were going to say.”
“Word for word,” Superboy says super-skeptically.
“I’m very good at guessing things. You know this.”
“Okay. Guess how much I believe you right now then.”
Robin glares and folds his arms grumpily across his chest.
“And what was that anyway? Was that like....you guys’ family motto or something like that?”
“Oh no,” Spoiler pipes up. “That’s much shorter.”
Superboy balks at that. “Wait, you guys actually have one of those for real?”
“Yup,” Steph says, counting out the words with her fingers. “He who laughs last....probably works for the Joker. So tranq him just to be safe. See? Only sixteen words. The first rule of Living While Batty is way longer, and what we said was just the abridged version. You should hear the original, before Black Bat put her foot down and refused to memorize it unless sizable edits were made.”
Superboy hovers between her and Robin now, both in mid-air and on the verge of taking Spoiler’s words as an invitation to hear just that. A low growl arises from Robin’s direction.
“Must you?” He asks the older vigilante, with a most put upon expression.
She looks at him pityingly. “Do you actually need me to answer that? Like, we’ve met, right? Hi, I’m Spoiler.”
“Wait, so Robin said that I just never specifically asked him if he had a bajillion brothers and sisters, and that’s why he didn’t tell me, so that means he wouldn’t have just lied and there’s not some code of secrecy that flat out forbids telling other people stuff, right?” Superboy realizes excitedly.
“Yes, excellent direction. Go on,” Spoiler says, steepling her fingers. Robin buries his face in the palm of one hand.
“Soooo, what other stuff could you tell me about Robin’s super top secret family that I wouldn’t think to ask about but that he would tell me about if I knew what questions to ask?”
She claps once, lightly but with emphasis. “Well done. You’ve passed the first barrier. Untold secrets await you behind just a few more.”
“I’ll get you for this,” Robin vows calmly. She waves a hand at him.
“Yeah, yeah. Just make sure you do it before January 1st, remember? You’ve promised retribution like ten times already this year and those don’t roll over, y’know. Rules are rules.”
“Enough!” Thunders a voice then, from the front of the room. Well one of the fronts anyway. Like sides, it has a lot of them, but this is the one where Batman’s standing. All eyes snap to him. Which is kinda just what eyes do when Batman says stuff like that. Its like his superpower, except he doesn’t actually have superpowers, which is what makes it scary. But where the snapping of the eyes (directional) is usually followed by Batman saying something else besides just “hey look at me,” here he pauses in the wake of his own call to attention’s waning reverberations. Uncharacteristically silent.
Not that, y’know, he’s normally Mr. Talkity Talk, but usually his silences feel like he has the words to fill them, he’s just withholding them. This though, this feels more like he doesn’t have any words at all. And he’s as confused by it as any of them, and most everyone else is confused by Batman being confused, and its this whole trickle down economy of confusion and its wrecking havoc on the value of the golden silence standard.
Of course, not everyone present is rendered spellbound with confusion.
“C’mon B,” Nightwing cajoles, leaning forward and practically radiating delight. “I think you know what you have to do now. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Its not likely to come around again.”
Red Hood snickers beneath his helmet and chimes in. “Yeah Pops, go ahead. You do this and you’ll actually have my respect for a whole twenty four hours. No, wait. Sixteen. No! Eight. Yeah, eight. Still a good deal.”
“Carpe diem, B,” Red Robin grins, leaning back as if to enjoy the show.
“Hey! Infringe on my trademark one more time, dude,” Signal throws a faux-glare at the former. Red Robin just quirks an eyebrow.
“And what, you’ll start saying Yum every time you eat a burger? Oh no. I’m hoist by my own petard.”
Signal flips him off with a grin and then redirects his attention back to Batman. “Yeah seriously though B, you kinda gotta do it now. Because if you don’t do it, then you’ll forever be the guy who didn’t do it, and you don’t want to be that guy, do you?”
“Yeah you really don’t want to be that guy,” Spoiler shouts out. “Nobody likes that guy. He’s the worst.”
“Do it, do it,” Black Bat starts chanting beside her, steadily picking up speed and volume. Several others start joining in. Even Robin appears to be slightly anticipatory, albeit trying very hard to hide it.
Batman sighs, and somehow everyone manages to hear it. Stills. Waits for....something? Nobody but them seems to have any clue what, but the air is thick and heavy with portentiousness. Something is about to happen, and all most of the heroes present could say for sure is it was something they never would have in a million years seen coming.
Finally, Batman straightens with the resigned air of a man about to have oh so many regrets. He crosses his arms, shakes his head, and in an absolute deadpan monotone, says:
“You are awful children. You know you’re killing me. You’re killing your father.”

That Time Tim Totally Terminated Ra's Al Ghuls Entire Empire Part 1
So. I wrote something very silly. The title says it all, except it doesn't because this bad boy spiraled out to being over 10k and deserving of 2 chapters. Anyway, here is the first chapter featuring all the times Ra's kidnapped Tim because he wanted to recruit him.
Summary:
"Let us not beat around the bush,” Ra’s started, after taking a sip from his tea, “I have brought you here to make you an offer.” Tim nodded, that was obvious enough. Ra's had no reason to kidnap him this time beyond something like this.
“As you know, I’m always on the lookout for enterprising young individuals with both leadership and fighting experience to join the League of Assassins. Right now I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect person to fill a brand new executive role in a new chapter of my organization.”

~
Tim wasn’t entirely sure how he’d ended up in this situation. No really. One moment he’d been in Gotham, crouched behind an old BMW that had been in the same spot for a month, waiting on Batman’s signal, the next he’d woken up in some lavishly decorated room. Was that silk? Or maybe velvet? He had no idea what was hanging around the bed he was laying in, but Tim really didn’t care.
What he was concerned about was his own personal state. He raised his arms --that alone was a good sign-- and confirmed that his mask was in place. He pushed himself up on the ridiculously plush bed, -which was unreasonably plush by the standards of a kid who'd grown up rich, and then gone to live with a guy who had both more money and even better beds.
The point was, the bed was so soft Tim actually had a bit of trouble sitting up.
When he did manage to right himself, he finished taking stock of his own situation and his surroundings. His Robin uniform was intact aside from his belt, but he saw that set on a trunk that looked at least as old as Bruce, a few feet away. The room was, as he already determined, lavishly decorated.
Tim pushed himself out of the bed and onto a carpet so thick he kind of wanted to pull off his shoes and curl his toes in it, but seeing as he still had no idea where he was, who took him, or why, he figured that was probably out of the question. He did make a mental note to ask Bruce for some better carpet when he got home. As a kind of gift for surviving a very weird kidnapping.
Instead, he moved to walk carefully around the room. He found no obvious traps, no cameras or speakers or microphones that were either hidden or out in the open, and both doors were unlocked.
The first he opened revealed a bathroom. The second he cracked open to peer out of. His eyes locked on that of an honest to goodness ninja standing guard outside the door. The man locked eyes with him and Tim snapped the door shut with a click.
Welp, that answered the who and maybe even the where of Tim’s abduction. Ra’s Al Ghul. He was pretty sure if he gave the ninja ten minutes to go find Mr. al Ghul himself, he’d have the why too.
While he waited, Tim snapped his belt back around his waist, comfortable to have its weight back, even if being in a League stronghold meant all the tricks in his pockets were basically useless on his own. Still, it was nice to feel fully like Robin again.
After that it was a matter of waiting.
Tim paced an actual trench into the thick carpet as he waited. Batman was of course looking for him. That was a given, he just had to wait for the man to find him. Or for Ra’s to send him home? He really wasn’t sure why the Eco-terrorist would have taken him in the first place beyond a really weird obsession with Batman's various sidekicks.
How come all of Bruce’s baddies seemed to have a strange fixation on Robins? It was weird how many went out of their way to kidnap and attempt to recruit him, Dick, and if the stories were to be believed, Jason too.
Just as Tim was starting to turn that particular thought over in his head, the door to his room opened and Ra’s himself strolled in.
“Timothy.” the man drawled.
“Ra’s.” Tim replied, suddenly totally and completely unsure what to do with his hands, voice, feet, and general self. This wasn’t a fight after all.
He settled for crossing his arms and being terribly glad his domino hid his eyes.
“I’m sure you’re wondering why I brought you here.” Ra’s said.
Tim shrugged, “It doesn’t take the world’s greatest detective to guess that.”
The man frowned at him, and Tim started to wonder if maybe he should be watching his words a bit. He wasn’t in Gotham with Batman at his back after all. But then again, Ra’s must need something from him right? So a little sass was okay, what was Robin without a smart mouth after all?
“I mean--” Tim started, unable to stop himself now that he was thinking about it, “I can probably start to guess. You didn’t kill me and I’m not in a dungeon so you’ve got to want something from me right? I bet this is some blend of trying to win me over and also hold me above Batman because you--” he paused for a moment trying to remember if Bruce had been on Ra’s’ trail at all lately.
He dropped his arms and clapped, remembering, “You’ve been trying to break into energy and you want Wayne Enterprise to back you and legitimize your business. So you’re holding Tim over Bruce, but you probably want Robin because you and like half of Batman’s rogues have this weird obsession with teen heroes for some reason."
At some point he’d stopped looking at Ra’s and actually started pacing again. When he stopped talking his feet stilled and he looked back up at Ra's and grinned, ""So, am I hot or freezing cold?”
He expected Ra's to looked angry or irritated, instead he looked amused.
“You are quite warm. Though I would contend the assertion that I have a weird obsession with teen heroes. I am only interested in the exceptional, and you Timothy, are exceptional indeed.”
Tim gulped, “I mean--not really? But thanks.”
Ra’s waved him off, “We will speak more later. You are correct, I do intend to use you as a bargaining chip against your guardian--”
“Dad.” Tim interjected.
The man raised an eyebrow but continued, “However you are not a prisoner in the traditional sense. You may wander the compound with one of my men by your side to ensure you do not get into trouble. If all goes well you will be returned to Batman within a reasonable amount of time. Unless, of course, you do decide you would like to stay and learn from me.”
“I don’t really see that happening.” Tim said, “But I'll be sure and let you know if I make a sudden turn towards world domination.”
Again, Tim expected some kind of retaliation, but he was thankfully ignored. Ra’s left him with a warning not to cause undue trouble and soon Tim was alone in the room again.
He spent the next couple days wandering the compound somewhat aimlessly. He had a phone call with Bruce where he promised his dad that he was totally fine if a little bored, and spent the rest of his time trying to avoid Ra’s. The man was kind of relentless in his attempts at winning Tim over to his side and sought him out at meals, when Tim was trying to train a bit at one of the many gyms, and even once while Tim was wandering a rather fantastic garden. Each time, Tim did his best to wiggle out of the man's suggestions and just get back to wiling away the time between then and getting home.
Thankfully, it was all over in four days when Batman came crashing in with Nightwing and Batwoman to rescue him, and soon Tim was home and settling back into normal life.
He’d actually almost forgotten about the whole Ra’s kidnapping him until it happened again. Once had been a surprise, two times was starting to look deliberate.
This one lasted a week with Ra’s claiming it was because he still really wanted that energy deal and he just couldn’t understand why Bruce wasn’t willing to trade that for his ward (son Tim had ground out in irritation).
Tumblr media
Tim almost believed him, until he woke one morning to find a pamphlet had been slipped under his door, it was literally a flyer promoting hiring in the League. Tim looked over it and had to laugh out loud. The text was done in a mix of papyrus and other fonts and whoever made it had used clip art. It looked like someone had typed it up in Microsoft word in like half an hour.
Tumblr media
He spent the rest of his time there re-designing the flyer, with a ninja hanging over his shoulder as he used one of the League computers. The new one wasn’t the best flyer in the world, but Tim was pretty proud of it, and it was much better than the first draft.
When he was done, he pocketed the original, then pinned a note to the new one that said: Ha! Not until you get better designers.
Batman rescued him again, and Tim pushed the double kidnapping and Ra’s’ weird obsession to the back of his mind until the next time he was with Steph.
They were in the manor watching a Chopped marathon and Tim was telling her about both kidnappings.
“So he’s super into energy? How come he didn’t nab Dick? We all know he’s Bruce’s favorite.” Steph teased, popping a chip into her mouth.
“Setting aside that obvious lie, that’s the thing,” Tim continued, digging out the flyer he’d kept, “It has nothing to do with energy or Dick. I’m pretty sure Ra’s is trying to recruit me.”
He showed her the paper and Steph snorted, spraying chips out as she laughed, “No. Freaking. Way. I have to tell Cass. Let me show her this, please I’m begging you.”
Tim groaned, “Yeah, sure, but don’t you think it’s weird?”
She shrugged, taking the flyer to look it over, “Of course, but the B-man attracts weird like ice cream dropped on the ground attracts ants. Give him six months, and Ra’s will move onto a different way of trying to piss off Batman.”
“I hope so.” Tim said.
The third time Tim woke up in the elaborate room he was getting really sick of the decor and the headache that came with being knocked out and dragged halfway across the world.
“You know.” Tim started, the moment Ra's walked into his room (and it was actually Tim’s room he’d learned from one of the ninja guards), “You could have waited a month this time, to at least pretend this wasn’t all about your super weird plan to try and convince me into letting you adopt me.”
Ra’s opened his mouth to respond, but Tim wasn’t done.
“Which, by the way, I’m taken already. B did the whole adopting thing, so you missed that window. Though, I guess that probably doesn't really matter to you in the grand scheme of things since you keep kidnapping me. You are aware that kidnapping isn’t the best way to convince someone that your way is the right one, right?”
“Also, would it kill you to pick up some --I don’t know-- books on recruitment or something? I don’t understand how you’ve managed to get so many guys on your side it’s--” Tim started, but Ra’s had caught on to Tim’s mood at this point, conceded temporary defeat, and made a hasty retreat.
Tim didn't see him the whole rest of the day, and by the next morning Batman showed up, swinging in for another rescue and all was fine and good and normal for a while.
Until, of course, it wasn’t.
It was the fourth kidnapping that really set Tim off.
He woke up back in that stupid room with it’s stupid decor and those stupid posters ready to burn the place to the ground. But something stopped him, a premonition. Like if he was patient for just a little longer he’d find a good and proper form of revenge to take on Ra’s for his total inability to take a hint.
Tumblr media
At some point two ninja came by to take Tim to meet with Ra’s. As they walked Tim couldn’t help but notice the posters literally lining the hallways they walked through.
Tumblr media
They were of two wildly different styles, but both struck a thought of familiarity in his mind. One was obviously a play on the classic “I want you in the army” poster. The other ripped off old “pin up” recruitment posters. Both made him laugh, and Tim pulled a couple of each down to save to show the Titans. He had a feeling Bart and Kon would lose their minds over these.
He had just folded them up and shoved them in his back pocket when they reached an office. Inside, Ra’s sat in a chair and motioned Tim to sit in one across from him.
“Thank you for joining me, Timothy.”
Tim sat and shrugged, “Not like I had much of a choice.”
Ra’s waved him off. As he did, a different ninja from either of the ones who’d escorted Tim to the office came in with a tray of tea. He handed Ra’s a cup, then gave one to Tim, and left the set on a table between them.
The whole vibe was kind of awkward and strange. Tim felt very much like he had one time a year ago when he’d realized halfway through a date that things were not going to work out. He hadn’t been able to end the date then and there, and had spent another two hours awkwardly making small talk and trying to avoid promising a second date.
“Let us not beat around the bush,” Ra’s started, after taking a sip from his tea, “I have brought you here to make you an offer.”
Tim nodded, that was obvious enough.
Tim took a sip of his tea in an attempt at avoiding having his mouth drop open in shock. Ra’s sounded like something out of a “Executive success seminar” that was just a veiled multilevel marketing scheme.
“To put it plainly, Timothy, I want you to become my apprentice. I know you and assume you might be hesitant to accept this lifestyle so I’ve prepared for you something of a presentation on what that might entail.”
Tim couldn’t stop a laugh from bursting out of him, but he did manage to turn it into a kind of cough.
“Wait--wait.” he said, almost choking on his tea, “Are you about to show me a powerpoint?”
Ra’s looked a bit put out at that suggestion, almost like he wanted to sigh, “Of course not, it’s more interactive than that.”
Tim held up his free hand, incredulous, “Is this--a job interview Ra’s? I thought you were pitching this to me.”
“No, no. It’s an interactive presentation designed to show you just what you have to gain from joining me.” Ra’s explained, as he did so Tim took another sip of his tea.
He lifted his cup and waved it lightly, “Oh yeah, so I’m just in one of those fairy tales then where you make me do three impossible tasks and at the end I get the happily ever after dip in the lazarus pit?”
“It’s only one trial--”
“So it is a task!” Tim declared, almost standing.
“Timothy.” Ra’s snapped, sounding a bit like Bruce whenever Tim and Steph’s antics pushed him a bit too far.
Tim crossed his legs and leaned back into the chair, “Tell me I’m wrong.”
Irritating the man was a bad idea, Tim knew that, but this was just ridiculous. He wasn’t going to be sent on a wild quest that might end up with him dunked in a Lazarus Pit or whatever else Ra’s had in mind that would supposedly prove how great it would be to work for him.
“If you are not going to take this seriously, then there are other ways of showing you why joining me is a good idea that are not nearly as pleasant.” Ra’s growled.
Tim held up his free hand, “I’d rather not find out, give me your pitch or send me off with your best ninja or whatever you were planning.”
He figured playing along would work for now. He could put off giving Ra’s an answer until Bruce came in for a third rescue. When he was home, they were going to have a serious conversation about ninja proofing the manor. Ra’s could not keep kidnapping him like this, they had to have some kind of security measures in place.
“Wonderful. I’m sure after your tour you’ll have a better understanding of what I have to offer you.”
Tim ended up following someone Ra’s called his “best general” around the compound for an hour. The guy showed Tim the training rooms, the medical suite, sparring rings, a variety of ninja’s actually practicing, and at one point they even ended up in the library. The general had been given instructions to pause anywhere Tim wanted him to, and so they lingered in the library for a bit.
He had to admit, Ra’s had a fantastic library.
The general didn’t seem worried about Tim getting lost, or escaping, and waited by the door while he wandered the massive room.
And boy was it huge. It was bigger than the main floor of the cave, with stacks and stacks of books on two floors. Some of the volumes looked ancient, and there were even scrolls shelved on the second floor.
He gingerly pulled one out to examine.
“That is worth more than you could ever imagine.” a sharp, young voice, declared, behind him.
Startled, Tim dropped it back onto the shelf and spun. Before him stood a kid, probably 8 years old, with tousled dark hair, dark skin, and a face that almost echoed some of Bruce’s school photos. It was startling.
“Hi.” Tim said, dumbly, “I know, it’s Ancient Sumarian right?”
“Tt.” the boy crossed his arms, “You are not an idiot then.”
Tim shook his head, “Nah, apparently I’m smart enough to be selected for recruitment.”
The kid nodded, “So you are Grandfather’s young detective. He speaks highly of you.”
Grandfather? Tim’s brain spun. This kid was Ra’s al Ghul’s grandkid? He ran the numbers, the kid’s mom was either Talia or Nyssa. If he had to put money on it, Tim figured the boy before him looked more like Talia than her sister. And his other features--like Bruce’s?
No.
No.
No. Freaking. Way.
“That is hardly language to use here.” The boy said, arching an eyebrow at him.
Tim hadn’t realized he’d spoken aloud, but apparently his surprise had been so great he had. He cleared his throat, “Sorry, I just never expected Ra’s to have a grandkid.”
“It is not surprising to me, I am his heir. Born to inherit the League and rule the world one day.”
Okay, that was a lot to unpack. Just a totally wild amount, but Tim wasn’t super focused on the world domination thing just yet (maybe later when he had a chance to process all of--well, all of it), “Sorry to keep pressing but, doesn’t having an heir kind of--I don’t know, put his whole Eternal Ruler of the League thing in jeopardy?”
“Tt. It is not my place to question my Grandfather’s plans. I simply know what I have been told, that I will inherit the League one day in his stead.”
“Well,” Tim rocked back on his heels casually and grinned, “That might be a long loooong time.”
The kid’s brows furrowed as if he had not really considered that idea before. He opened his mouth to say something else, but seemed to decide against it, dropping his arms to his sides to shrug, “If that is his wish then so be it.”
“True.” Tim said, not really knowing what to say. Instead he settled on changing the subject, “You know, if your grandfather gets his way I’ll be spending more time here, so I guess introductions are in order. I’m Timothy Drake-Wayne, but most people just call me Tim.”
He held his hand out to the kid, smiling at him. If he really was Bruce’s then they’d be getting to know each other for sure. Just not here. Tim had zero intentions on letting Bruce’s child stay with the League. Did B he even know he had a kid? Tim thought he’d better figure that out first before kidnapping his little brother.
Little brother. Just that idea made something flutter in Tim’s chest. He’d always wanted a little brother.
The boy scowled at his hand, and did not take it, “You may be correct, even if I do not see what Grandfather seems to. I am Damian al Ghul, heir to the Demon’s Head.”
Tim bit back a grin at just how serious this kid was. He sounded like a little prince, all imperious and haughty. Damian, even his name fit him. He wondered how Damian would do around Dick? Or Stephanie. They’d figure out how to bring a smile out of him.
“It is a pleasure to meet you, Damian.” Tim said, “I know we’ve really only just met, but I’m sure you’ll see what Ra’s does in time.”
Damian looked him over again, then gave a sharp nod, “I am interested in seeing what you have to offer.”
“Damian, I found it, where’d you go?” A voice sounded from deeper within the stacks.
Tim started at the sound of the voice. He knew it. Knew it from nights spent chasing shadows, from recording’s Bruce had watched a hundred times when he didn’t think Tim was watching. From Tim’s own desire to know and learn more about his predecessor. It was Jason Todd’s voice.
But that couldn’t be. Jason was dead.
“I am coming.” Damian returned, his tone more childlike than Tim had heard in their whole conversation. He turned back to Tim, “Do not ruin that scroll, I will see you later.”
Then he spun on his heel and walked away.
Tim stepped forward, reaching out for the kid, “Wai--”
“Master Tim, we really must be going.” Tim’s guide was back, stepping into his view as if from nowhere, and stopping Tim’s chase as short as it had been.
“Can we wait just one more second?” he asked, “I wanted to ask Damian something else.”
The man’s mouth turned down in a frown, “I do not have clearance to let you speak with Master Damian. Come, we have more to see.”
Frustration bubbled up in Tim, but unless he wanted to start a fight he wasn’t going to get a chance to talk to Damian right then. The kid had promised to see him later, so maybe he’d seek Tim out. If not, Tim would find a way.
As he followed the man out of the library, he kept searching the stacks of books for a sign of the others. It wasn’t until they’d left the room that Tim caught sight of Damian again, his small form waving animated at a taller, broader one. One that, while older, was unmistakably Jason.
Before Tim could say screw everything, the two turned around a corner, and someone else was clearing their throat. His guide seemed eager to move on, and so they did.
Tim tuned out most of the rest of the tour, and eventually found himself back in the office from before, once again seated across from Ra’s.
“Timothy, I hear you have met my grandson on your tour.” Ra’s started.
“I did.” Tim said, a bit hesitant to go into detail, his guide had seemed like talking to Damian was a pretty serious thing, and suddenly Tim was afraid he’d gotten the kid in trouble.
Ra’s smiled, “He is magnificent is he not? Already he is a skilled warrior, and well trained in his studies.”
“He said he was your heir?” Tim ventured.
The man waved a hand dismissively, “Of course he is, he is my grandson, but that does not mean he will inherit. The boy is valuable to me, for many reasons. He is an excellent tool to wield against my enemies already, and will only become more so as he grows.”
Anger bubbled up in Tim. There was something in Ra’s’ tone that made Tim sick, to call a kid a tool. To plan to just use him his whole life?
“And what, do you want to do that with me too? You said you wanted me to be your apprentice, but if your Heir is just a tool then--”
“No, as I said I want you to take over a branch of the League. You have talents and skills Damian will not. The boy is--” Ra’s shrugged, “Let us call him a vessel. A shell for me to wield in one way or another.”
Well, that just made Tim even more angry. Damian was his grandkid. What Tim wouldn't have given to still have his grandparents, and for Ra’s to just--If Tim wasn’t already dead set on getting Damian home, he would be after this conversation.
“You know what, Ra’s. Let me think on it a while. I’ll get back to you on my answer. I kind of want to see Damian in action a bit, learn what this training looks like in someone closer to my age.”
The man considered this for a moment before nodding, “I will let you watch his sparring session tomorrow. For now, I think we’re done. Have a good evening, Timothy.”
Tim nodded, and left. His mind was racing, he wanted another look at Jason. Wanted to tell Damian about his dad. Wanted to make sure both his brothers were okay.
He was so wrapped up in his thoughts, he missed the black and blue clad arm that reached out from behind a curtain and yanked him back. Nightwing put a hand over Tim’s mouth to quiet him, and then pulled him out the window the curtain had been hiding. They dropped, into nothing--except it was solid?
Tim found himself inside the invisible jet. Inside, and flying away from his newly discovered siblings before he could even argue they needed to be rescued too.
One flight with Wonder Woman and Nightwing later, and Tim was home again, being told in stern tones by both Batman and Nightwing that he really needed to stop allowing himself to be kidnapped by ninjas (like he didn’t know that).
Then he was in his room, in bed, staring up at the ceiling, his mind whirring. He had learned two things on this trip. Two impossible things. Two things he was going to leverage as soon as he could.
It was late, and he should be sleeping, but instead he texted Steph and Cass in their little group chat.
Tim: Want to cause some chaos?
Immediately he received a response:
Steph: Always
Cass: Who are we going after?
Tim smiled, his fingers dancing over his phone:
Tim: Ra’s.
Cass: Time to teach him a lesson?
Steph: I've been waiting for this, I’ll get the kerosene
Tim: There’s more.
Cass: Tell.
The light flashed on out in the hallway, Tim could see it flicker to life under his door.
Tim: Tomorrow, lunch at that place with the sweet potato fries. Come ready to plan a kidnapping or two.
The next day Tim found both Steph and Cass waiting eagerly for him at the restaurant, a heaping plate of sweet potato fries between them.
“Spill, Bird Brain.” Stephanie said, as he sat down, pushing some fries towards him, “I want to hear everything about this crusade against Ra’s.”
Tim rolled his eyes, and snagged a fry, dipping it in one of the sauces they’d gotten to accompany it.
“As you’ve probably already guessed, I had another visit to the League compound yesterday.” Tim started, “It was more of a day trip this time, but Ra’s did his very best to sell me on signing up.”
“More posters?” Cass guessed, then shook her head seeing Tim’s expression, “What did he do?”
Tim snagged another fry, “Yes more posters, but more than that he gave me a speech right out of a How to Recruit for Dummies book, then sent me on a tour of the building.”
Steph snorted, “Please tell me you recorded it.”
“I did not, but you will never believe what I found on my tour, or to be precise who.”
Both girls paused their snacking, waiting on him to continue.
Tim dropped the first bomb, “Jason Todd, alive and breathing.”
“What, no way.” Steph said, “How’d he even get there? I thought He was buried here?”
He shrugged, “I don’t have any of the details, but they’ve got a Lazarus pit, and Ra’s is weirdly obsessed with recruiting Robin’s, so I’d say his resurrection tracks.”
“Who else was there?” Cass asked, brow furrowed.
Now this he knew neither of them would be expecting. Tim hadn’t expected it. He still couldn’t believe it.
“Ra’s al Ghul’s grandson, Damian.” Tim said, watched both girls look even more confused, then added, “The son of Bruce and Talia. At least, I’m pretty sure he’s their kid.”
The fry Stephanie was holding dropped out of her hand.
Tim watched Cass processing the information, saw her realization that there was another child being raised in the League, then saw the determination cross her face at her own personal decision.
“We are taking them both, correct?” Cass asked.
“We’re taking them both, and burning the place down.” Tim confirmed, “That should properly pay him back for all the time’s he’s kidnapped me this year.”
Steph’s lips turned up into a sharp grin, “The law of equivalent exchange.”
Tim laughed, “You’ve been watching too much tv.”
“It’s prepped me for this very moment.” she shot back, voice falsely grave.
“Batman prepared you for this very moment.” Cass elbowed her.
“No.” Tim said, “I’m going to prep you. And then we’re going to put everything in action.”
They talked, and planned, and debated the pros and cons of letting Tim get nabbed again over just going himself, and eventually after many many sweet potato fries and sodas they were ready.
It was to be infiltration first, fire and kerosene second. Obviously the place was going to go up, but only after they set the stage for rebellion and convinced Damian and Jason to go home with them. Tim didn’t think it’d be a hard sell for Jason, but the kid was another matter altogether. If Tim couldn’t convince him to come along, they may actually end up having to kidnap Damian.
A key to the plan was that only Tim, Steph, and Cass were in on it. There was no way Bruce was giving the green light for such a thing. Besides, Tim wanted to see his face when they presented him with not one, but two, rescued sons from the League.
Over the next week Tim made himself the most kidnappable he’d ever been. He wandered outside, kept to himself, and tried to look as wide eyed as possible. He lingered in parking lots, and took shortcuts down empty alleyways. Basically, he did everything he could to signal he was alone and vulnerable besides hanging a sign around his neck that said “Take me to your (ninja) leader”.
At one point he even stopped, dead center in the middle of an alley and declared, “Wow this sure is a dangerous place to be! I hope I don’t get attacked and kidnapped by ninjas!”
The only response he got that time was from an older woman who stopped at the edge of the alley and very seriously called out, “Careful, young man. Don’t you know there are killer clowns out? You best be on your way before you get hurt.”
Then, at long last, Tim caught sight of one of the League members ducking behind a shadow. He paused his walk, and leaned over as if fascinated by something on the sidewalk in front of him. By the time he’d stood, the ninja was in front of him.
Tim held up his hands in surrender, doing his best not to actually look excited. Then, he was successfully kidnapped for the fifth --and if Tim’s plan worked successfully-- final time.

Maribat March 2021 - Half time
In my AO3 account I am also updating the 'A playboy billionaire, an ambassador and the secret love-child' title, and sometimes I add(ed) commentary why I write something the way I do.
Masterlist
From the last fifty days here is all the plus note:
First day
In Red Robin (2009-2011) comics Vicki Vale was a little bit too noisy for her own good, that's why I used her personal annoyance against Bruce Wayne in this story.
Third day
Vanessa Rios was an assistant district attorney in Gotham in the Robin (1993-2009) run. Here I am using her as the Wayne's legal team head. Tamara Fox, Lucius Fox's daughter, is friends with Tim Drake in Red Robin (2009-2011) comics and here too. Also she is an intern with the HR department who knows about the BatFam alteregos.
Fifth day
In the comics, Alfred always followed Bruce to his 'trips' (in 'Batman and Son' to London, 'Batman & Robin Annual' to an scavenger hunt, in 'Batman Inc.' to every country where they found representatives...) However because of Damian's unpredictable behaviour he stayed at the manor with the children in this story.
Sixth day
So Young Justice thing is a little complicated to me if I dare to say something about it. There was the 'Young Justice: The Secret' and its sequels. Then there were 'The New52' and 'DC Rebirth' era, plus the animation show. And they all are kind of okay..ish, furthermore I wanted to keep the principles like the main members (Tim Drake, Connor Kent, Bart Allen and Cassie Sandsmark), however I never liked their too childish behavior in some of the works (and the mixing with 'The Titans). So in this story, here, they are more adult..ish, but more relaxed and cheerful than 'The Titans' ever was (like in comics, not in the shows).
Eighth day
In the 'Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir' show they showed Lila as a manipulator without any remorse, which got me to think she has antisocial personality disorder (ASPD). I am not a doctor but I had some basic lesson in psychology, and I have a natural curiosity about things so I always research everything. With diagnosed ASPD the person has to be older then 18, however I read its symptoms can show up in childhood, and it can lead to an earlier diagnosis like 14-15 years old early.
In the case of Lila she deceives people and uses them (✓). Don't makes long term plans or thinking through about her behavior (✓), however has a set on some goal she wants to achieve (✓). She has a sense of superiority above of her classmates and adults in her environment (✓), nevertheless does't have any remorse or guilt to mistreat them (✓). Uses charisma and her fake charming persona to get something or someone (✓), however didn't value them more than tools or prizes (✓).
I didn't see any real aggressive behavior from Lila beside akumatizations (✓), but on its own I think it's enough evidence, that she has this disorder (and not the many that she claimed). In normal aggressive way Lila didn't show herself (like physical violence, loud angry outbursts, big fits in front of everyone) yet, rather she uses Akumatization to hide that kind of behavior (when Adrien tried to stand up she became willingly Chameleon, or the Heroe's Day, or Oni-Chan). So her Akumatised forms and helping to Hawkmoth are the evidences that she has aggressive behavior, however they are not the classic forms (but we also can remember the threatening in the bathroom, but I think that was more intimidation and showing her superiority then pure aggressiveness).
And I wanted that recreate and strengthen this 'fact' a little bit so it would be more obvious than in the show.
Ninth day
In the comics there are so many take on Bruce Wayne it's kind of hard to count it. We could list the Batman persona, when he kind of let his children do what they want within his no-kill-rule (like living alone at fourteen with bunch of other teenager - 'Teen Titans' or 'Young Justice' or as it looks like to go rough - Robin, Red Hood). And there is the obvious martyr-parent take, when he has to know everything about his children, but he is always silent about the important things ('Death of the family' - 'Batman and Robin: Born to kill' - 'The Hunt for Robin'). And one of my favorites the worried-tired father take, when he is kind of showing his emotions and trying to love his kids ('Super Sons' - 'Robin Rises' - 'Prelude to the Wedding: Nightwing vs. Hush' ...).
And I decided to use the last with a more active take from the first (like he lets everyone do their thing but he is monitoring them within reasons). In the comics there are many accusations about being someones father (with Julie Madison or Mariah Shelley), and here in my take he is trying to be responsible (for the sake of his children, mainly for Damian and Jason) and checks every claim out personally (so they also can do DNS test).
Tenth day
Alya Césaire is a complicated someone in the show. At first she is portrayed as a fierce helper for the protagonist, Marinette. She is stubborn and reckless, but royal to her best friends.
Then came Lila and the makers sharpened her stubborn tunnel vision. This I saw it first at the 'Lady Wifi' episode, when she clearly didn't remember about the first day, when Ladybug saved Chloé (or ignored it). After that she always fixated on 'Adrienette' (or everything else if it's interesting - Dark Cupid) when the girl, herself had other things to do (Princess Fragrance, Puppeteer 2, Reflektdoll 2, Timebreaker). So it was not that big surprise when her tunnel vision turned to Lila, and she (and everybody in her class) forgot about that they all met Jagged Stone and with his crocodile already.
Yeah, it's all true, however unlike Lila, Alya didn't show any other big social flaw. And she is 14 years old and middle child, which is kind of important in someone personality. She has to be a mature figure and a little child at the same time in her sibling's eyes. She has to compete attention in their parents eyes and be smart about it.
Moreover if we look at the Collège Françoise Dupont's students, they are all spoiled, not just Chloé or Lila or Adrien. Yes, they are not that bad like the three, but they are all sheltered to a certain degree. Their family don't have financial problems (famous chef, designers, mayor, famous bakery, curator in the most famous museum, police officer, famous pantomime, ...), plus they are all in a prestigious school where they can't meet people with everyday problems (and rich spoiled kid is not an everyday occurrence in my country). And beside some vision problems (Max, Sabrina) they are all healthy and the first time to meet a disability is when Lila arrived. So it's natural if they don't really know how to interact right with her (putting aside that whole lie thing).
And I think they, especial Alya, need first a little life experience, before they could be called responsible about their acts. And here I am trying to write it this kind of way, where they are all flawed, but they can learn from it.
Human being can be shallow and not perfect. These children only heard one perspective from Lila, and another from Marinette. In the show the makers not exactly specified about how well the classmates know Marinette and how depth Marinette and Alya friendship is, so there is already some trust issue.
Like yeah all of they are going to concerts, cinema, each others, however they didn't show so far any serious conservation between them (maybe the only exception is Adrien-Marinette combo). Until this year when Adrien and Alya got transferred in the class, the classmates don't even help Marinette with Chloé bullying. And one year friendship - how beautiful is it tho - is not that depth and stable, especially with that many secrets they have. And Lila 'charming' personality came into this still fragile relationship at the right time to prove this.
I am not saying that the makers is doing good to simplifies the relationships. Because rather they missed so many ziccers for the sake of promote new hero designs and the overwritten romantic scene, it's physical hurting me. But they are right that we are talking sheltered-traumatized-too naive kids, who sometimes had unearned magic powers (looking at Chloé, Alya, Kim).
And I didn't ever going the length of mentioning the adult characters. It's an other kind of wormhole.
Marinette was the only one who openly disobeyed Lila's wants. She stands up against her lies in the public so she is a real obstacle for Lila. While Adrien is only trying in the background without any witness (I don't say it's bad, because with some case it's better, but not here), and the boy is too valuable to Lila.
Lila already showed in the series she didn't stop with the lies and she is brave enough to ruin someone carrier with them (Marinette - 'Ladybug', Nathalie and Gorilla - 'Oni-Chan', Alya - 'Volpina'). And Adrien watched all of it in the front seat, and he kind of knows that Lila's main target here to discredit and broke Marinette/Ladybug (and Adrien, himself also, but it's his perspective and he is very sheltered and naive about it).
And this story she got another one to ruin. Bruce Wayne, himself. And as her fake charming side melts away in her anger as she is focusing more and more on her targets.
Eleventh day
Speed Force is one of the Seven Forces of the Universe. It grants the power of the speedsters. And some of them merged with it (for example Barry Allen). Speed Force has a direct connection to the time flow and with the Multiverse (or now Omniverse). The biggest event of it is the Flashpoint (2011) which started the New52 era. And Batman doesn't want to mix this kind of force with a really mysterious ancient magic.
Nightrunner's first appearance was in 2011 in Detective Comics Annual #12. Within the Batman Incorporated line Bruce recruited Bilal Asselah, French-Algerian citizen to represent Batman in Paris. Here he is a mentor/background assistant to the Team Miraculous and a representative of Batman Inc.
Fourteenth day
Wang Fu is not the most mature character in the show and I think it says it all. Being an 186 years old is the Great Guardian after he accidentally destroyed the temple, he is kind of shameful and amateur. And if we contrasted him with Batman... yeah. Batman is NOT happy and takes the control from the old master.
Fifteenth day
I know Cyborg, alias Victor Stone is currently shown as a founding member of the Justice League (since 2011), however I am prefer him more in the Titans. And it's not just because of the animation show form 2003, but also in the comics he is more himself with the first Titans then with the -all mighty- Justice League. And I also wanted him to have a little cameo in this story because in the Super Sons (2017-) he was kind of like a babysitter for the boys. And to me it's kind of funny how many times the bats short circuited him (Robin Rises, Super Sons: Parent Trap, ...).
Sixteenth day
Damian Wayne is a complicated character. For ten years he was teached to kill. He only learnt about his mother at eight. He only learnt about his father at ten. Thalia used him for anything from power play to plotting someone death. Bruce loves him, but he is so moronic about his own emotions it's kind of painful to read sometimes. And there is the thing where Damian is never enough, his mother cloned him (Heretic), his father has other wards (mainly Red Robin). Dick Grayson went incognito spying when the boy had finally a healthier relationship (Grayson: The Superspy). His best friend, Jon Kent was suddenly older then him (2018 Superman #16). Alfred was killed in front of him (2016 Batman #77). Yeah, Damian is a jerk, but he has every right to be a jerk in my opinion. And I wanted that recreate here as Lila is a liar and threatening his 'only' position as a blood son. His only weapon to prevent it to have a fit and doing what was teached to him.

Sleep Deprived
Author: @wordsfromthesol Taglist: @zphilophobiaz Pairing: Tim Drake x Reader Summary:  Tim accidentally falls asleep in the wrong apartment. That apartment happens to be yours, and it happens to be on your first day at your new job. Warnings: Language maybe? Word Count: 1.6k
It was the first day of your new job, your new job at Wayne Enterprises. Unfortunately, this meant you had to actually start waking up early. When the alarm went off at 5:30 in the morning you absolutely dreaded leaving your warm bed, but it was your first day and you were determined to make a good impression. Throwing your legs over the side of the bed, you slowly pushed yourself up and shuffled into the bathroom. Forty-five minutes later you came out and nearly fell to the floor in shock upon noticing a figure in your bed. Stalking closer you noticed they had a mask on…and was that a cape? After staring for a solid minute and a half you finally recognized the emblem, Red Robin, one of the infamous vigilantes of Gotham. You had only been in Gotham a week, was this normal? Shaking the thoughts from your mind you squinted through the dark and made your way to your closet. Selecting an outfit you tip-toed into the living room and got dressed. You had planned to actually make breakfast, but you supposed you had time to stop somewhere. Jotting down a quick note for the hero, you quietly went back into the room and placed it on the nightstand before leaving.

Tim's eyes fluttered before shooting open. His mind went into panic mode, quickly surveying the area and finding a note on the nightstand.
Red Robin,
I think you stumbled into my apartment by accident, but I'm sure keeping Gotham safe takes quite a toll. Since you’re a hero, I'm hoping you won't steal any of my stuff. Feel free to help yourself to any coffee.
Tim made his way to the window. "This isn't even close to my apartment." He mumbled to himself just as his phone rang.
"Dick?"
"Where the hell are you?"
"I…uh…working."
"At an apartment building half a mile from yours?"
"Why do you -- nevermind. I guess I slept here." Tim stopped trying to keep up the façade.
"DO YOU HAVE A GIRLFRIEND I DON'T KNOW ABOUT?!" Dick's voice went up two octaves as he screamed across the phone line.
"Geez, calm down Dick. No, I don't have a girlfriend. I honestly don't know how I ended up here. I was patrolling late last night --"
Dick cut him off, "When was the last time you slept? Not including this morning." He quickly added the qualifying statement.
"Three days…" Tim mumbled, knowing he was about to get an ear full from his brother.
"You can't keep doing this Tim. You're going to get yourself hurt."
"I know, okay." The statement long and drawn out. "I didn't mean to, I just get hyper fixated…"
"You're taking off tonight. From patrol and case work. And you better figure out how to thank that poor girl."
Tim knew it was pointless arguing with him and relented before hanging up the phone. At least now he could catch up on some WE work these next few days.
**
You quickly learned from your new coworkers that heroes stumbling into random apartments for a nap was not a normal occurrence in Gotham. You were just lucky…according to them. When you got back the mysterious figure had left. Though it would've been more surprising if he was still there.
When your alarm went off the next morning, you proceeded to the bathroom as usual. Only this time when you were done, your head hesitantly peaked around the corner, half expecting the hero to be in your bed once again. He wasn't. Slightly disheartened, you made your way to the WE building and went straight to research and development, hoping to avoid the morning gossip.
"Oh, Y/N! You're here. Can you run this up to Mr. Drake's office?" Your supervisor asked before you could step through the door.
"You…you mean like…the CEO, Mr. Drake?"
She could hear the wavering in your voice and quickly consoled you, "Don't worry. He's never here. More of a night owl I suppose. Just set it on his desk."
"Okay…" You were still hesitant, but couldn't exactly turn her down on your second day of work. Once you got to his office, his secretary didn't bother looking up. They just waved you along. Just as you set the folder on his desk, you heard the door opening. "Shit." You mumbled, praying that it wasn't the CEO.
"You must be Y/N." The voice was clear and crisp behind you. You spun around to see Timothy Drake, CEO of Wayne Enterprises, standing before you.
"Uh…yeah. You know who I am?"
"Heh, well I do run the company."
"But I just started yesterday. I'm nobody."
"Don't be ridiculous. What did you bring?" Tim motioned towards the folder on his desk beside you.
"A proposal from Sarah. I think it's some new circuit board."
"Well don't try to sell me on it." Tim could hear the lack of enthusiasm in your voice, not that you were trying to hide it.
"Sorry…not my thing I guess." You tried to play off the awkwardness…it did not work.
"You work under her, don't you?" Tim furrowed his brows as he stalked over and grabbed the folder, slowly thumbing through the papers.
"Yeah." You wanted to rant more, but you didn't think it was appropriate. It was your second day, and though the work didn't interest you, Wayne Enterprises did. This was how you could get your foot in the door. How you could make a difference in the world.
"Well, then what is your thing?" Tim was determined to get the answers he wanted. After all, he had to have some way to repay you for letting him crash uninvited at your apartment. And not waking him or telling the world that he was there.
"Honestly…" You hesitated to complain about your brand new job, but something about Tim felt familiar and safe. "I want to develop technology that makes a difference, that helps people. The projects I've seen seem completely money driven, which I understand. But in Gotham we have so much to look out for. Think about a chemical to counterattack Poison Ivy's spell or a ballistics vest you can comfortably wear under anything…" You drifted off into your thoughts until you realized you had been ranting for almost fifteen minutes. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to sound ungrateful for this --" Tim cut you off.
"No. I think we may have placed you in the wrong division. I want you to meet someone."
**
"I figured it out." Tim proudly announced as he sauntered into the Batcave, nodding toward Dick sitting at the computer.
"Figured out how to convince me to let you patrol tonight? Because the answer is no." Dick didn't even bother to look up. Mainly because he didn't want to be persuaded otherwise.
"No. You were right, I needed time. But the girl. Y/N."
"Your new girlfriend…" Dick wagged his eyes as he spun around to face his brother.
Tim rolled his eyes and attempted to ignored his older brother's comment. "She's the new WE employee. I'm moving her from our standard R&D department." Dick arched his eyebrows, still unsure where Tim was going with this. "She's going to be working with Lucius."
"And you think that's a good idea?"
"Yes. I fully checked her out and I think her work will benefit us more than it will WE."
"So you going to officially introduce yourself then?"
"Yes," Tim looked suspiciously at the mischievous glare in Dick's eyes before quickly adding, "But not for that reason!"
"Hmm" Dick spun back around towards the computer.
"Don't you dare tell Jason about this!" Tim screamed as he bolted up the stairs.
**
The next day you stood in awe once more as your new boss, Lucius Fox, was showing you more of the lab. There was technology here that you didn't even think existed. That's when it all clicked, this was tech used by superheroes. Wayne Enterprises supplied tech to the Justice League, Titans, Outsiders…all the superhero groups you could think of had displayed various pieces you now recognized around the lab. Your jaw finally dropped open as you watched Red Robin himself saunter down the hallway.
"Lucius! I heard you had a new protégé." The vigilante eyed you as he came to a stop next to your new boss.
"Red Robin. I didn't know you were stopping by today." You noticed Lucius smirk as he side-eyed the hero.
"Well I…" The remark caught Tim off guard…he didn't really have a particular reason for coming to the lab today. Well other than you. "I had to meet Y/N. I've heard great things so far."
"Right, well I have your suit repaired." Lucius chimed in to relieve some of the awkward tension before quickly disappearing to retrieve it.
Your eyes squinted as you glanced awkwardly around the room, "I've been employed here for like 3 days now…"
"Your…uh…research at school. And your internship at LexCorp…" Of course he had researched you. There's no way you would've gotten into the position without extensive background checks. You awkwardly fiddled with your fingers, hoping Lucius would soon return. You didn't expect Red Robin to try and continue the conversation. "Also thanks for letting me crash the other night. Guess I didn't realize how tired I was."
"So you don't just pick a random apartment to sleep in every night?"
"Well I try not to…I already got berated enough by my brother for that night."
"Good, as you should've." Red Robin looked slightly hurt by your commentary, so you continued. "It's never healthy to let yourself get to that point. What if you had to fight someone?"
"You sound like him…but fair enough. At least it allowed me to work normal hours for once this week."
The gears were turning in your head as everything fell into place, "Tim?" you blurted out before you realized what you had said.
"Ha! Well that didn’t take long." Lucius chuckled as he walked out, costume in hand. Tim's cheeks were already turning a bright crimson.

Bio! Dad Strange Part 5
Some paris update again with more Rogue shenanigans. Heads up, this is more a ‘i decided everyone can be complex and get along somewhat so im altering character dynamics from cannon to my prefrence’
When Marinette and Max and Nino ended up in Chloe’s class the trio made a simple pack on sight—aviod her at all costs.
Why?
Max is fairly certain Marinette is some type of meta. Fairly. She’s still the only person on his level close to his age, so he isnt saying anything.
Nino doesnt share this suspicion, but she’s close with Sabrina, who’s dad keeps checking in on him and Marinette’s family way more than the other stidents at Dupont. Nino doesnt like this, and by proxy, Chloe is horrible.
Marinette thinks Chloe and Sabrina could out her and aviods them to prevent this.
Their teacher sees this and decides to ignore the mandate to keep Max and Marinette And Chloe and Sabrina as science partners in every situation by switching things up.
Max hates working with Chloe—she keeps foddling and talking about fashion when its chemistry class. Focus on the lesson you heathen
Marinette works well with Sabrina (both organized) but she is extremely uncomfortabke with this as Raincomprix starts asking her for help on cases out in the open. Woth science and she has to fake not knowing about them. He takes forever to catch on that her mom doesnt know, and would be pissed if she knew.
Raincomprix then uses his daughter as an inbetween for his and marinette’s joint ‘solve the coldcase’ game. Sabrina gets involved to practice english and science, and finds out she’s good at finding overlooked clues.
As you can guess, this leads to Sabrina and Chloe joining the group.
Marinette and chloe talk fashion sometimes, Chloe critics her color pallettes and stitches. Also her choice to use rogues as inspiration becuase “arent they bad guys?”
“Eh? I think theyre just bad at getting the help they need.”
“Didnt joker kill people?”
“That was mostly mr. J. Easy mistake.”
“...okay...”
This curbs a decent amount of Chloe’s bullyign early on. Chloe is not borderline meta in this, just fixated on fashion to an insane degree—she knows everything about all aspects of the industry but cant design from scratch. Her mom looks down on her for this.
Chloe is also how the group know of ‘adrikins’ who is her prince and will marry her someday or be her forever family, uncertain which.
Alix gets along well with chloe as she needs someone to be salty with when Kim is being an idiot and Marinette is too nice and it goes over Max’s head and Nino is... there is some doubt if he’s scared of Kim or just really respects him.
Sabrina and Max cannot be left alone under any circumstances though. They will try to outsmart each other. Sabrina via legal things, Max via facts and trivia. Marinette is used as their buffer, much to her frustration as she does have designing to do guys!
Kim is showing signs of a crush. Marinette has not noticed as has a secret identity to keep, rogue family to manage from another country, other people’s secret identites to keep (she blames Tim.) so many languages to learn and practice and to top it off, friends to keep from killing each other during school. She has a lot on her plate, ok?
So that summer was more rogue sheneigans and dodging heroes while being herself and forcing her Father to cook with her—mostly Great Uncle Wang’s recipes.
“I am being bossed around by a child. In my own kitchen.”
“You were the one that claimed me as yours. I demand compensation in bonding time.”
“Uh, Mr. Smith was it? My neice suggested a aimple soup seeing as you are a... novice.”
This lead to an oddity for the Science Rogues—Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow, Strange and Riddler—getting into cooking wars. Only the RKC knew how and Not one of them would spill, only looking at Marinette who was smiling as she said “my great uncle did that!”
This also left the four with less plotting to destroy gotham time. It worked out for the most part.
If she got bored (and she does) she visits Ivy and helps out in the greenhouse or her the wayne’s gardens. Rose now has her own plants sprawling about gotham (marinette dropped fast grow seeds) so she can escape the Greenhouse and move about Gotham without mama bear Ivy trying to take over the city while looking for her teen-appearing child.
Frost was busy with college and so was Ghoul, so she hung out more with Puzzles due to proximity. Puzzles got it in his head to prank Hero Stalker and Batman. Marinette tried to talk him out of it, she did.
It failed. And somehow it was a night with Batgirl and Nightwing/old Robin trying to help Batman with his grief over the last robin who died. The new robin had yet to be revealed, but she noticed hero stalker was more motivated lately. She knew she couldnt stop him—he’s a year older than her and probably rich. (And she’s not supposed to exist...)
So Puzzles pretends to be Riddler and lures them into an old tv set. They were not expecting it to be a hideout for a gang.
And if Marinette was in an old Harley Quinn outfit with a hammer her size to match, well... disguise?
Harley realized what was happening when she checked the groupchat and no one knew where they pair was until Rose was pestered for a bit to have her plants check.
They went into a drug den and the batfam was with them. Fuck.
Puzzles and her get out of there when the realize what’s up. Why? Guns and not being invulnerable.
Marinette is worried though and hides and may hit one of the armed men hard enough to fly across the room.
Puzzles stares at her. She flies to tackle him and grumbles about sunlight messing with her meds again.
Nightwing caught that, realizes who knock off harley is, and guns for the kids. Only there are more goons now and—shit. Where did the kids go?
Batfam took down the gang.
Harley is seen in her car a few blocks away with... are those kids? It trends on social media that Harley has a daughter who’s grounded for messing amwith gangs.
The Council meets to scold Marinette and try to get the story straight.
Dent snorts when he finds out they were just going to silly string the batfam and slime them on camera. The camera was busted in the fight though...
Hero stalker freaks out about the whole thing and tells the pair off. “You almost died!”
“He said my dad was dumb! It was a matter of honor!”
Hero stalker is Done with Puzzles and tries to talk sense into Marinette, who says its her job to keep him from dying, ok?
Hero Stalker/Tim is upset but kind of gets it from watching Batman. Sometimes your partner does dumb things and you have to keep them safe y going along with the dumb thing.
Riddler puts them in a puzzle maze for a week. Marinette figures it out and goes in and out of it to make it look like she’s still trapped.
Strange rolls his eyes as yes, this is his daughter. Yes, she is smarter than Riddler.
Ed Nygma the other hand is keeping Puzzles grounded for another week. He lets Marinette visit to check up on his and Riddler’s states since they share a body and all.
Harley is still lecturing Marinette and gets her to agree shell at least tell Rose when something is up from then on.
Rose puts a plant on marinette. I am not joking, she puts a vine on marinette’s arm to keep her safe and make her take her meds since “you cant fly otherwise nets. And put in your earplugs!”
At somepoint there may be a case of music master making an appearance, but idk if it should be marinette is immune due to earplugs or marinette gets dragged into being seen by the league AND rogues at once and they bith try to grab a very freaked out Marinette who flies back to france where Max is mid-panic since she needs someone to talk to and uh, she figures he knows most of it so, help. She needs logic and hers is shot at the moment.
Next time we get more of a quick fic on marinette’s training with Zsasz as a kid.

First Chapter
________________________________________________________________
Tim might be on the verge of panicking.
“It’s handled, I promise,” he insists again, stomach tightening in dismay at how much Cassie isn’t buying it. “We’ve got a system.”
“A system,” she repeats in clear disbelief.
“Yes, a system. And yes, it has a few kinks—but it’s working! According to Eros, most people that have been infected with his blood completely lose it in days, but it’s been two weeks and Jason’s still himself.”
“And you actually trust Eros isn’t just saying things you want to hear?”
“Not even a little,” Tim acknowledges. “But considering what I’ve seen when Jason lapses into his episodes, he could be doing a lot worse right now.” He remembers the older man’s condition in the containment unit before Tim figured out how to help him. “A lot worse.”
“That doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.”
“Besides, Batman will flip if you guys descend on the city while he’s trying to deal with everything.”
“Do I look like I care?”
“Seriously, you know how possessive he gets of Gotham, but it’s turned up to 11 whenever the Family’s involved.” Especially when that family’s Jason; their issues aside, if Jason’s in trouble, Bruce will drop everything for him. “I think piling anything else on him right now would make his brain explode.”
Cassie snorts. “Might we worth it then.”
“Cassie….I promise. We’re okay,” Tim insists. “I’m okay. And Jason’s so freaked out about this, he’s been cooperating more with us now than he has since he came back from the dead. He was the one who reached out for help from B, even. None of us could ever have seen that coming.”
Whether she’s surprised or not by Tim’s words, she continues to look doubtful.
“So where is he now?” she asks instead. “I don’t see him with you.”
Tim shifts in discomfort, glad she can’t see his body language below his head and shoulders. “I did tell you things weren’t as bad as they could be. It’s not like he has to be constantly glued to my side.”
Doesn’t mean he does well when he’s far away, though.
“I’m probably in more danger from Dick right now, and we’ve got him on lock-down. Hopefully not for long, if I can get Eros to help. Or if Jason can help.”
Wonder Girl continues to look like she’s waiting for a more convincing argument on Tim’s end, but he knows she trusts him. After doubting him when he believed Bruce was still alive and lost in time, she’s become the first one to believe even his most farfetched ideas and theories.
“Alright,” she says at last. “I’ll back off. For now. But I fully expect you to check in with me on the regular.” She jabs a finger in his direction. “If you go radio-silent on me again, we’re showing up there whether your or Batman like it or not.”
“Got it.”
“I mean it, Tim. I expect you to text me every hour or two to check in. And gods all help you if you’re downplaying any of this.”
“Acknowledged.”
She gives him one last worried look and then says, “Okay then. Take care. And I’ll talk to you in a few hours.”
“Yeah.”
“Good luck.”
The call ends and Tim lets out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. That was a close one.
“Does it ever bother you, how good you are at lying?” Steph’s voice asks from behind him and he winces.
Not out of the woods yet, I guess.
“Lies are a necessary evil in our line of work,” Tim dismisses, turning around to face her. She’s clearly returned to see if Bruce left him in pieces, which is both appreciated and slightly annoying. “You of all people know that.”
She snorts, acknowledging the dig, but doesn’t comment on it. Instead, she stays her course. “I’m not talking about our line of work; I’m talking about with your friends.”
“If it will protect—"
“They’re offering to help, Tim. I don’t know if we’re exactly in a position to be looking down on that.”
“We’re not at that point yet,” Tim insists.
“Oh, really? Sure you’re not avoiding accepting help because you don’t want any other people knowing about your feelings for Jason?”
His cheeks burn. He should have known she wasn’t going to just leave it. “That’s not it.”
“Really? Because honestly, if you’re ashamed of this—of him—that’s a pretty good indicator that this thing with him isn’t a good idea.”
“You think I don’t know it’s not a good idea?!” Tim snaps, his forced calm abandoning him all at once. “Like I don’t remember every reason why it can’t work? Or everything Jason’s done?”
What he could still do. Because if—when we fix him, it’s not like he’s going to stick around. Even if he’s not sick of looking at me after being forced to want me, he’s not about to settle down in Gotham and follow Bruce’s rules.
He clenches his fists, takes a breath and talks himself back down.
“I’m aware of all of this. I just don’t find it a good use of my time to fixate on something that’s not going to change.”
Steph is wary. “Sounds like you’re the one under some kind of spell.”
“Yeah, well, if I am, then it started years before we met Eros,” he mutters, earning a confused look from Steph.
“What do you mean? Like when he first came back?” She appears thoughtful and then shocked. “No way. You mean when you were following him and B around as a kid? There’s no way—!”
“It was different back then,” Tim defends, feeling something inside him loosen a little. He’s been holding this one secret back for so long, and with everything going on, something’s got to give. “It wasn’t what it is now. I was drawn to him. More than Dick. There was something about Jason that…” He shakes his head. “I don’t know. I felt a connection with him. I really can’t explain it. It should have gone away when he died.”
He remembers that dark time, and how it felt like a part of his insides had rotted away upon hearing the news of Jason’s death. How he hadn’t even been allowed to grieve openly about it because he technically hadn’t known the older boy.
Hell, it should have gone away when he came back.
Even now he can still feel the impact of fists beating him down, of wire cutting into his throat and the searing slice of metal ripping into his chest.
“But it didn’t. It just…got buried in everything else that was going on. And then…”
“Be my Robin.”
“Hey there, Replacement.”
“I wasn’t always the nicest guy in the world to you.”
“Timbers!”
“Sorry you got dragged into this.”
“Aw, babybird…”
“You did good.”
“And then it all came back,” Tim concludes, defeated.
Steph is still looking at him, mouth parted in surprise that flounders for a response to that. He decides not to give her the opening for it this time.
“Forget it. As I said, it doesn’t matter. The point I’m trying to make is I know it can’t go anywhere, and that I don’t expect it to. And the fewer people who know about it, the fewer people I have to put up with pitying me when everything goes back to normal.”
“And by normal, you mean back to you bottling it up and hurting yourself,” Steph reminds him with a scowl.
“I don’t know where you’ve been the past few years but that sort of comes with the territory.”
“Tim—”
“I have to update Bruce on what Cassie told me about Eros’ arrows.”
She rolls her eyes. “Oh, awesome subject change. Real subtle.”
“We don’t have time for subtle,” he shrugs and heads for the study. She follows him, and he can practically hear her grinding her teeth at him.
Guess I should just be glad that Cass isn’t here too, or that would have gone very different…
He knows Steph still isn’t satisfied with his answers, but he doesn’t care. At least bringing up the mission, he might be able to buy himself an hour or so before she starts again.
Taking the stairs down to the cave, he coaches himself to pretend like this is a normal case and that nothing of note happened down here. That Dick isn’t locked up on the lower levels, and that Jason didn’t kiss Tim and then run away.
He’s gratified to find Barbara is already there when he gets downstairs, just pulling herself into the wheelchair friendly area they designed for the conference table.
“Tim,” she greets right away, a wan smile on her face. “How are you holding up?”
“I’m not the one in trouble,” he dismisses. “Jason is.”
“It’s why I’m here, kiddo. I think what he had me working on is related to everything that’s happening right now.”
“Explain,” Bruce commands.
“Shouldn’t we wait to get Jason back first?” Tim asks.
“I would, but I get the sense this is time-sensitive,” Barbara replies, jaw set as she brings out a thick metal disk that Tim recognizes as a microprojector. “Jason contacted me wanting to see what I could dig up on Carrie Cutter’s recent movements. It led us to her involvement in the murder of a girl we believe to be the actual Oracle of Delphi.”
“That’s not possible,” Damian says. “The last Oracle of Delphi disappeared before the fall of Rome.”
“More likely, moved underground,” Bruce muses.
“Exactly,” Barbara agrees. “I searched the web and official data servers and couldn’t find any information about the information besides what was in the newspapers. No surveillance, no video, audio—nothing. So I sent Duke to investigate the site.” She taps the device on the table and a holographic image appears, projecting a likeness of Signal in front of them at one-eighth the size. “He just arrived there.”
“What took so long?” Damian huffs.
“Unlike you rich kids, Greek wasn’t one of my high school electives,” Duke's voice deadpans across the comm line. “And real-time language translation software doesn’t exactly pick up the regional dialects very well.”
“Have you had time to go over the scene?” Tim asks.
“Not yet. Better to have you guys standing by instead of having to tell it all again later.”
“Even if this oracle said anything, Signal’s abilities don’t allow him to hear sounds,” Bruce points out.
“Witnessing everything firsthand will still give us a better idea of what’s going on,” Barbara answers.
“Might give you a better idea,” Duke replies. “It’s just going to give me nightmares.”
“What do you see?” Bruce asks.
There’s a sigh. “It’s not pretty…”
Right now, Tim is glad Jason isn’t around. Child deaths hit him hard.
“There’s a family sitting down for a meal,” Duke relates. “Mother, grandmother maybe—and the kid, it looks like. And she’s not just blind like Oracle’s reports said—she doesn’t have eyes at all.”
Steph swears.
“She hears something. Looks up. Mom’s heading for the door, and—and that’s Cutter. Exactly like the picture in her dossier. She’s just walking in and she—okay, that’s weird.”
“What?”
“She didn’t just burst in here with knives drawn. And she’s…kneeling?”
“That’s weird, right?” Steph asks.
“Oracles were intermediaries for the gods,” Barbara says. “It’s probably a formality. Like not turning your back on a king or something.”
“Cutter’s asking her something. Can’t really get the right angle to see what it is though. Now the girl’s talking.” A long pause. “She seems to have a lot to say. And Cutter’s hanging on to every word.” He glances at something invisible to the rest of them. “Mom and Grandma there seem more worried about all this than she is. If this kid’s a seer, you’d think she’d know what’s about to happen and try to—oh.”
He looks away then, the image of him balling his hands into fists.
There’s no need to ask why.
“It was quick,” he says after a moment, his voice heavy with anger and something else. “For her, at least. Not so much for the others. And she’s leaving now—that’s.”
He shakes his head, coming back to the present.
“Is there any indication of what the girl said to cause Cutter or whatever god is possessing her to lash out?” Bruce wants to know.
“Not really. I mean, I’ll try watching it again but—wait.” His image goes utterly still for a few seconds and then startles. “Okay, you guys are not going to believe this.”
“Stop drawing things out and get to the point!” Damian commands.
“Robin,” Bruce reprimands, earning a scowl but compliance. “What is it, Signal?”
“She’s talking in English.”
That makes them all look at each other.
“Are you sure?” Tim asks, at the same time Steph wants to know, “How can you be sure?”
“I know I haven’t got as much lip-reading practice as you guys, but I’ve gotten good enough to recognize someone speaking English,” Duke deadpans. “And everything this girl said, she said it in English.”
“That’s not possible,” Barbara says, frowning. “No one in the area speaks English. I checked.”
“Maybe she’s been getting private lesso—whoa.” He straightens up then, posture more alert. “Missed that before. She’s not looking at Cutter while she’s talking like I thought she was.”
“That matters?”
“Little bit, I think. Since she’s looking at me.”
Tim’s mouth parts a bit. “What?”
“She knew you were going to be there,” Barbara realizes.
“Tell us what she’s saying,” Bruce orders.
“Give me a sec. It’s not like an instant replay button, you know.”
Everyone waits with bated breath as Duke tenses again and focusses. Then he speaks, careful and halting.
“' The…unseen…darkness…cannot keep…it’s captive…for mortal masks…the divine that seeks—'” Duke stops and shakes his head. “It’s too fast after that. Going to take some time to get the whole thing.”
Barbara breathes out something that could be a curse. “It’s a prophecy. An actual prophecy from the Oracle of Delphi.”
“Duke, make sure you record every single word exactly as it’s said,” Bruce orders. “With ancient prophecies, the smallest inaccuracy can change the entire meaning.”
“You suddenly believe in prophecies, B?” Duke asks.
“No. I believe in having the most complete picture possible. And rushing you will compromise that. Take the time you need to transcribe what she said and upload it to the system.” Bruce straightens up. “We’ll figure out the meaning behind it once we have the whole thing.”
“Whatever you say, boss. Shouldn’t take more than a few viewings for me.”
His image sputters and then vanishes.
“I know you’re good and all, Bruce, but ancient prophecies were created to be beyond what humans could understand,” Barbara points out. “And even if you figure out everything, there’s still all the double and hidden meanings.”
“We have access to Eros, though,” Damian points out. “Have him decipher it.”
Bruce shakes his head. “We can’t trust that he won’t twist the meaning for his own gain.”
“Or we can just ask Jason,” Tim points out.
“What?”
“Well, apparently part of being infected by the blood of a god means being able to read the languages and word of the gods. So somehow, his brain is operating on the same plane or wiring that Olympian gods do,” Tim explains. “Stands to reason he might be able to shed light on things that way.” There’s an air of hesitation in the air, and he continues, “Besides, we have to find him anyway. Other than the fact he might be hurt right now, Cassie said there’s a possibility he could help cure Dick.”
“How?” Damian demands immediately.
“Convoluted Olympian reasons,” Tim says, not wanting to get into it. “The point is, we need to find Jason before we do anything else.”
He meets and holds Bruce’s gaze, almost challenging him to find something more important. There’s a beat where the older man considers him with the full Batman calculation, and then he nods.
“Then we’re going to need the most up to date information on his usual bolt holes. You have the most up-to-date list.”
Tim is hesitant.
There are several safe houses he knows of that he’s sure no one else in the Family is aware of, not even Barbara. He’s kept to himself what he knew because Jason values his privacy. He won’t be happy if Tim rats him out.
But then again.
It’s been almost two hours since Jason left, and the last time he was away from me for so long things didn’t go well. He could be sitting in a corner with slit wrists for all we know.
His stomach twists painfully at the mental image, and that’s what decides him.
“Okay,” he says, and slides over the computer to type the addresses and coordinates of the mental list he’s been keeping.
Twelve locations pop up on the giant map of Gotham. Bruce’s eyebrows draw together as they rove over three that he clearly didn’t know about. If anyone thinks it’s odd that Tim has such detailed knowledge of Jason’s comings and goings, no one mentions it. Instead, Bruce’s shoulders set and he turns to the others.
“We’ll cover the ground faster if we split up,” he declares. “Alfred will stay here in case he comes back to the manor on his own. Stephanie, cover these three—” He gestures to the blinking dots across the East End, “—Damian, the ones off the Financial District. I’ll take the docks and Tricorner—”
“What about me?” Tim interrupts.
“You’re still benched.”
“I know that. But shouldn’t I still come alone to calm him down?”
“No. You need to remain in one place so it’s easier to bring him to you if required.”
Tim wants to argue, but he knows Bruce has a point. Whether Jason elects to return to the manor on his own or the others find him, they need to know where to bring him.
“It’s just as well,” Barbara says. “We need to speak to Eros. We can go to Tim’s place and wait there.”
“He’s unlikely to be honest,” Bruce says.
“Maybe, but even lies can give us an idea of the truth. You see it a lot in historiography. Lots of sources are biased, the trick is to get as many as possible to form the most accurate picture possible.”
Tim pounces on the opportunity to do something.
“We can get Eros to tell us what all this means, and then we ask Jason when we find him. He’ll be able to fill in anything that might have gotten ‘lost’ in Eros’ version.”
“Assuming he’s even lucid anymore,” Steph asks. “How do we know he hasn’t devolved into a gibbering idiot already?”
“He hasn’t,” Tim says immediately.
“And you know this how?”
He recalls the mysterious blades Jason was so evasive about. “I just do.”
Stephanie’s eyes narrow, and he knows she’s likely trying to decide how much of his confidence is justified and how much is due to his feelings.
As if I’d be that unprofessional, he thinks in annoyance as he goes to copy the recording of Duke’s findings.
“Let’s go,” Bruce says and turns toward the stairs. Then he pauses. “And Tim?”
“Yeah?”
“Civvies only. I haven’t changed my mind about that.”
Tim rolls his eyes but decides to allow it—for now. “Okay, Bruce.”
“Come on, kiddo, let’s go,” Barbara says, wheeling toward the elevator. “Time to interrogate a god.”
He makes a face. “Are you sure you want to subject yourself to that? He’s kind of a jerk.”
“I spent the last ten years dealing with immature man-children. This will be a breeze.”
“Now that we’ve got the broad terms of the agreement sorted out, there is one tiny, slight hiccup,” Eros says.
“Only the one?” Jason retorts, unimpressed, rubbing at the site of the wound which started all of this.
“Only one that matters,” the Olympian says. “See, I did have a vial of Stygian Sleep on me—always do, since you never know when you need to make a quick escape from a family dinner.”
“Right…”
“But like I said, I wasn’t expecting you two to burst into my digs—just like I wasn’t expecting bird boy to lock me in this glorified hamster cage. So that vial is still hidden in one of the pieces on display at my warehouse.”
Jason groans. “Which was repossessed by the cops right after we busted it up.”
“Probably.”
“So now a deadly Olympian poison is in evidence lock-up at GCPD headquarters?”
“Possibly? Though they won’t even know what it is or where it is. It’s hidden in something that looks like a stone slab, so I doubt they’ll be cracking it open looking for drugs or anything.”
“It still leaves me with the problem of gettin' in there and grabbin' it, doesn’t it?” Jason snarls.
He paces a bit back and forth, trying to think up the best way to get inside without attracting attention. He’s got his own base of operations under the building, but he’s not keen on potentially burning that location just for the sake of finding Eros’ lost property.
Assuming it’s even there in the first place. Maybe it’s still back at the docks; they might not have confiscated everything yet. Unlikely, but possible. I’ll have to go there first. Possibly run into whatever scavengers or light security force is hanging about.
Not something he wants to do when he’s this compromised.
“Look at that, I can practically see the cogs spinning behind that sexy brow,” Eros says. “Hopefully whatever you come up with is more successful than your last plan.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Well, in your dramatic entrance, you seem to have forgotten to let me know how the ritual went. Since you’re here and my arrows aren’t, obviously you failed.”
“And got shot for my trouble,” Jason grumbles. “Speakin' of, any idea why your all-powerful arrows wouldn’t work on me, but they did on my br—on Nightwing?”
“The golden arrows can’t invalidate a match that they’re responsible for creating,” Eros says. “To do that, you’d have to be hit first with a leaden arrow to invalidate the feelings.”
“But we weren’t hit with any arrows this lifetime. Think we would have noticed by now.”
“Not in this life. Keep up, precious. You were joined together with Patroklus since the first time you were alive. Normally, that kind of bond vanishes with death—the whole Lethe deal, right?”
“…Normally.”
“But you died loving each other. Your last thoughts in both your lives have always been on each other. That’s powerful magic, older than me even. It seems to have given you a measure of protection your Nightwing doesn’t have, by confusing the diviners into thinking you’re still matched.”
“So I’m what, immune?” That could be a good thing.
“Maybe? I wouldn’t put money on it. You probably just got lucky. If you get hit by the lead one next time, it could sever even that. So, try not to get shot again, m’kay?”
“Great advice,” Jason seethes.
Though if he didn’t have any kind of connection to Tim, it would be that much simpler to foil the machinations of this entitled godling and whatever entity is working with Carrie Cutter.
The instant the thought enters his mind, he wants to throw up. The idea of hating Tim now—even though he can remember what that felt like—sends a visceral terror slamming into him with the same force of the Joker’s crowbar.
So much for having any kind of advantage in this whole situation.
Damn it, what am I even supposed to do about Tim?
His personal feelings (and the supernatural infection) aside, the best thing would be to avoid him. He’s not quite sure how he’ll be able to interact with or even just be around the younger man now that he knows the truth. Especially since with every passing minute he’s remembering more bits and pieces of lives long forgotten—he recalls the promises they made each other, can remember the feel of Tim’s skin beneath his fingers and the taste of his lips—
Stop it.
No, he can’t tell him.
Tim, like both of his past lives, will put what he thinks are Jason’s needs in front of his own. Worse, it will all be him humoring him, which puts a sour taste in Jason’s mouth. The idea of devaluing the bond between them that has spanned time and space and civilizations is almost as painful as the knowledge that bond is about to be severed—and by him, no less.
There’s a distant sound of a motor, the hum of the secret garage door of the Nest opening, and Jason tenses.
Shit. Tim.
He needs to get out of here before he’s noticed.
Except, he can’t seem to make his limbs move.
If he were completely himself, he could be out of here in an instant without even evidence that he was here. But—
But Tim is close. He’s nearby and—
And Jason knows that he’s not going to get anything done unless he gets a fix, something to hold him over while he figures out the next step in his plans.
Shit, now I’m comparing him to drugs. What the hell.
Somehow, the decision to not leave before Tim allows him some measure of movement.
Jason shoves the gold coin into his pocket—he can figure out what to do with it later—and forces himself to act. He has to delete whatever surveillance footage is on the Nest from the last hour before Tim arrives.
He can’t have him knowing what’s going on. Not unless Jason can think of a better explanation than, ‘hey, by the way, reincarnation is real, and we used to be in love with each other and I’m pretty much looking at a suicide mission in my near future.’
That definitely won’t go over well.
He looks up as a car pulls in, tires barely squealing to a stop before Tim is out the door.
“Jason!”
He’s in civvies now, less covered in grime and bruises than before, and instead of a mask, he’s wearing dark shades to hide his eyes.
Jason swallows the growing lump in his throat and fights down the temptation to hurry forward and wrap his arms around the smaller man. Seeing Tim now—now that he’s remembering—Jason is reliving moments long forgotten, soft laughter in his ear and fingers running through his hair and warmth and safety and—
He inhales sharply, shaking away the images.
That’s over, he tells himself as Tim comes to a stop a few paces in front of him.
“You’re here?” His surprised expression blossoms with what Jason can only describe as relief, even though he can’t understand the reason behind it. He doesn’t remember their pasts, he has no reason to care about Jason beyond the parameters of this mission.
“Yeah,” he replies cautiously, folding his arms and taking a half-step backward.
He needs to keep his distance, no matter how much his fingers are twitching to thumb Tim’s lower lip, how much he wants to wrap him in his arms, bury his face in the crook of his neck and—
“I needed a face-to-face with the source of all our problems,” he says, voice hoarse as he nods toward Eros.
“He was very rude,” the Olympian agrees. “Told me he’d kill me and everything. Isn’t that right, Jason?”
Tim barely spares a glance at Eros, face still pulled into a concerned frown as he steps forward. “I was worried. Driving in your condition, you could have gotten into another accident.”
“Someone gave me a lift.”
“Oh. Okay. That’s…” Tim trails off, perhaps seeming a little lost before his features arrange themselves into careful blankness. “I’m glad you’re alright.”
He reaches out to put his hand on Jason’s shoulder, and Jason pulls back.
“Not a good idea.”
“I’m just trying to help.”
“I don’t need your help.”
“Really? Have you looked in the mirror? Your pale and sweating, your eyes are bloodshot and your knees look like they’re about to give out under you.”
“I’m fine.”
“You’re not.”
“Well, neither are you,” he shoots back. “Why are you even here? You shouldn’t be anywhere near me after I…”
He trails off, remembering suddenly that they’re not alone.
“You just shouldn’t be here,” he finishes, a little lamely.
Eros is watching all of this with a smarmy grin on his face, and when Jason hears a noise behind him, he turns in time to see Babs just lowering herself out of the passenger seat of the car into her wheelchair. She’s also wearing dark tinted glasses to hide her identity, and he sort of wishes he had thought to do the same before staggering in here to confront the Olympian.
Tim continues to frown at Jason like he’s trying to figure out a puzzle, and then his expression softens a bit.
“Let’s talk, okay?” he offers. “Just talk. Like adults, okay?”
“Oh, this should be good,” Eros says, and the asshole actually rubs his hands together.
This time, Tim shoots him a glare. “Not here.”
“Take your time,” Barbara says, wheeling closer to the containment unit and glaring up at Eros. “Tweety Bird and I need to have a little chat anyway. There are a few things that probably make more sense from the original source.”
From the way she’s looking at the Olympian, if it were anyone else, Jason would feel sorry for him; considering what he’s holding over Jason’s head, he kind of hopes Barbara has him crying before the end of the night.
Before he can get too detailed with his inner imaginings of how to make the god of love miserable, the hair on the back of his neck and arms raises and Tim walks passed him—worryingly close to him—and heads for the entrance to his apartment. “Coming?”
And he really, really shouldn’t.
But the hunger that isn’t hunger is stronger, starving just to be in the same general radius as the younger man.
How am I supposed to sneak off to find Eros’ supply of Stygian Sleep if I can’t even think around this?
He tells himself it’s purely tactical, that he’s just getting his fix of being around Tim, enough to make getting out of here and getting what he needs to complete his deal with Eros.
“Fine,” he replies, voice strained.
He follows Tim out of the Nest, keeping a carefully calculated distance between them as long as he can. Once inside the apartment, Tim heads for the kitchen and opens the fridge.
“You hungry?” he asks, as casually as if Jason just happened by for a visit—except it’s not casual, because it’s never happened. “After everything that’s happened tonight, you need to keep your energy up.” He pauses and then looks apologetic. “I mean the fight with Carrie and your magic swords, not the, uh, other—”
“I’m sorry,” Jason blurts out. “About what happened.”
“Jason—”
“I wasn’t thinkin'—shit, obviously I wasn’t thinkin'—but I figured I had a handle on the impulses.”
“It’s not—”
“You shouldn’t even want to be around me right now.”
“Jason, it’s okay,” Tim insists, slamming the fridge door and raising his voice. “I just didn’t think you were at the point where you…I didn’t think you wanted—”
“Well, neither did I!”
Jason’s still not sure if it was the infection that prompted him to make a move on Tim, or the latent memories trying to get out. If anything, the kiss is what woke him up, so maybe it was the latter.
In which case, it’s even more important to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
“We’re not doing this…this anymore,” he decides gesturing between them. “You’ve already let me push the boundaries on this one way too far, and you shouldn’t be expected to let someone full-on grope you—"
“You didn’t grope me.”
“Whatever I did, it wasn’t okay because you don’t want me to—"
“I want you to,” Tim says, so quickly that he blushes, looking like he surprised himself.
Jason freezes, wondering if he’s hearing things. He takes an extra few seconds to review that. “What.”
“Not like that,” Tim rushes to explain, words tripping over each other; he glances away. “I mean—it’s just…it’s not as big an issue as you’re making it. Don't look at me like that, it's not a big deal. In the grand scheme of stuff you’ve done to me, kissing me doesn’t even register at the top of the Horrible Things That Could Happen List.”
“Stop tryin' to make me feel better. You suck at it.”
“I’m not just trying to make you feel better. It really could be worse.” His words continue to rush into each other, betraying his obvious discomfort. “And I know you won’t read into it beyond this being me helping you, and we’re all aware of your views on consent, so I know you didn’t mean anything by it. And it’s not like if I had to make out with Ra’s al-Ghul, right?”
Jason growls, remembering Eros’ threat. “Thanks for that scarring imagery, and the comparison with the creepiest creeper we know. That makes me feel so much more on board with this.”
“The point is if it’s something that helps you, if this grounds you…if you want to…whatever it is, I’m okay with it.”
And doesn’t that just tear into Jason?
“There’s two people involved in this, Tim!” he snaps. “And I’m not okay with it just because it’s supposed to help me. If you even knew…”
Knew what I want to do with you. To you. What we’ve already done, and you don’t even remember—!
“Look, we just can’t, okay?”
Tim lets out a frustrated puff of air. His cheeks puff in a way that has Jason swallowing hard, contemplating how suspicious it would seem if he took off back to the cave.
“Okay, let’s try a compromise here,” Tim says after a minute. “What if we made a list?”
Jason blinks and can’t help glancing back. “What?”
“Of things that we can both agree beforehand are…acceptable. If I’m telling you beforehand exactly what is and isn’t okay, then maybe you won’t feel so much like you’re taking advantage if you need to—if you need to do something to anchor yourself.”
“Tim…”
“No, listen—you were right before. Me just giving a blanket statement that everything’s okay, it isn’t me being honest with you. This way, we can both have boundaries.” Jason is already gearing up to protest until Tim adds, “It might not be a long-term solution, but it’s something, right? And anything not on the list, you can just ask or try to remember if you have the sudden compulsion to do something. And if I’m not comfortable with it we can—I don’t know, try to redirect somehow.”
“You mean if I suddenly get the urge to stick my tongue down your throat?” Jason deadpans. “Give you a warnin' so you can knock me out?”
Tim’s cheeks flare pink. “Um…not…exactly. But yeah. That’s sort of the idea.”
“Except I couldn’t stop myself before,” he points out. “What makes you think I’ll be able to now?”
Tim thinks about it, bites his lip—oh, don’t do that, please don’t do that—and then shrugs. “I trust you.”
So not a good answer, kid.
As if he can sense the direction of his thoughts, Tim narrows his eyes and juts his chin out. "I do."
“This is such a bad idea,” Jason croaks.
“Got any better ones? Whether we manage to cure you or not, we’re on limited time here. We’ve all been trained to withstand torture for days. I know you can do this.”
Just what every guy wants to hear—that the person they’re hitting on is comparing it to torture.
And that’s what it would be, too, for Jason at least.
But he’s still thinking about it—gods above, he’s thinking about it.
Because this is Patroklus and Hephaestion all over; this is Tim. Always has a plan, always has a scenario and an answer to everything. He means it as an olive branch, but Jason can’t help seeing it as a lifeline.
I should just tell him. If I tell him, we can figure this out together.
But he can’t.
Because he remembers.
Letting Patroklus plan, giving him the reigns of control, allowing him to know the full story, that’s only ever gotten him killed. In both their previous lives he planned everything in their lives around Achilleus or Alexandros’ legacy—around his glory and survival.
At least keeping Tim in the dark will keep his mind on the case—on stopping Carrie and her unnamed god friend from unleashing whatever trouble they’re seeking on Gotham. The city needs Tim’s brains focused on that, not on Jason’s past lives’ feelings.
As it is, in the long run, it won’t matter. There might be a cure for Jason’s condition, but Eros all but told him he’s not going to be the one benefitting from it. Even if they find the diviners beforehand, Eros has made it clear what will happen.
What’s the point of bringing it all up when there’s no getting out of it?
Jason’s pretty much signed a new death warrant for himself and he won’t just be going to the green paradise of his memories when this is over. And he won’t be seeing Tim or any version of him ever again.
He studies Tim now, watching him shift uncomfortably as he waits for Jason’s response to his plan. A plan that is hopeful and sweet in the face of a life they both know is anything but. Ignorant of the entire situation, Tim is still trying to give Jason as long as he can as himself.
Which, if I’m going to be spending an eternity alone in some fresh patch of hell…why can’t I have a few days?
Being with Tim as long as possible, even if Tim doesn’t remember the truth of it all…maybe that would be okay.
He feels his misgivings ebb away—gods, I’m weak—and allows himself to relax.
“So,” he begins, tentative, “what would be a definite ‘no’ for you?”
Tim’s eyes widen incrementally, surprise flashing across his features, but he is quick to hide it. He obviously wasn’t expecting Jason to give in.
Tilting his head to one side in thought, he is silent a further few seconds, and then says, “Don’t slap my ass.”
It’s so unexpected that Jason can’t help the startled laugh. “Really?”
“I mean, I might forgive that sort of thing in private, but in front of other people definitely not. I always found it kind of tacky.” Tim pulls out one of the stools along the kitchen island and sits down in a careful attempt to be casual.
“I’m insulted you think that I’d slap someone’s ass in any situation.”
“I’ve seen you slap Roy Harper’s ass.”
“Bullshit.”
“You know how much surveillance footage we have archived of you and the Outlaws?”
“Fine. Stalker.” But the word is more affectionate than anything else. “But to be fair, it’s Roy. He does it too. It’s a…a brother’s thing.”
Mostly. Except not really. And I really hope that all that surveillance footage doesn’t extend to the interior of Kori’s ship…
“Really.”
“Uh-huh.”
“And how many times have you and Dick played ‘slap-the-ass’?” The minute the words are out, Tim turns red and makes a face like he’s just had the oxygen sucked out of his lungs; Jason himself is having a bit of trouble breathing. “I did not mean it like that,."
His face falls into his hands.
“Gods, I hope not. Way to add to the list of shit I need therapy to deal with.” Noting the younger man’s utter mortification, Jason decides it’s high time they moved this discussion along. “Okay. Fine. So, what else? No mackin' on you, obviously.”
“I told it’s fine.”
“I can tell by your tone it’s not.”
He gets a frustrated look for that, and then Tim rolls his eyes and huffs. “I’d prefer if you have to, not to do it around anyone in the Family. We’ve got enough issues to deal with beyond the commentary and worried staring. But more than that, I’m not a huge fan of PDA. It’s uncomfortable.”
Jason thinks about it and nods.
“I guess I can understand that,” he muses. “You get followed around by the paparazzi all the time. Sucks havin' people’s attention on you all the time.”
“It’s not just that. When I was a kid, my parents…well, they just were never the overly affectionate type. I’m not saying I was deprived,” he is quick to add when Jason’s brows begin to draw together, “I was just used to a more reserved kind of affection. Because in public, it all became an act. The spotlight was on us to look overly warm and loving and…it was basically the Drake version of Brucie.”
Jason gags.
“Ever since then, I try to avoid having people look at me like I’m their entertainment unless I’ve planned it out that way.”
There’s a wary, almost vulnerable edge to Tim’s words that make Jason think that this is the first time he’s ever told anyone this rather personal bit of information. He’s simultaneously grateful to have Tim’s trust, while at the same time wondering if this is just him exposing himself to make Jason feel better about his own vulnerabilities.
“What else?” he asks, hesitant but at the same time desperate for him to keep talking. To keep opening up to him.
Tim thinks again. “Uh…don’t touch my neck.”
“Huh?”
“Like, don’t rest your arms along the back of my neck, or hold it with your palm. Shoulders are okay, but my neck, that’s…I don’t like it.”
And that’s…oddly specific. Before he can fully form a question about why that is, he’s hit by another flash of memory. This one, however, isn’t of warmth or safety, but of Jason himself holding Tim up high, wire wrapped around his throat and choking the life out of him.
His heart thuds in dismay and realization.
“I’m sorry.”
“Jason—”
“What I did to you wasn’t right.”
“We’ve been over this already—”
“We’ll never be completely over it,” Jason cuts him off. “It’s always going to be there, in the background of everythin'.” He clenches his fists. “I was puttin' my anger on the wrong person, and you got hurt because of it.”
“You weren’t in your right mind back then.”
“And how many creeps have we locked away for crimes they committed when they weren’t ‘in their right mind’?” Jason counters.
“The difference is that before this situation—before what was done to you—you were a good person. You protected people—you protected kids like me. And you're still a good person where it counts.”
Jason recalls three blood-soaked lifetimes that disprove everything Tim just said. “I was never a good person.”
“Agree to disagree.”
“No, there’s no disagreein', there’s just fact. I’ve been damaged since before I was stupid enough to get caught by the Bat.” Jason takes a step back. “We need to forget about this. After everythin' I did to you, this is a bad idea—”
“Jason, for god’s sake would you—” Tim stops talking all of a sudden, touches the comm in his ear. Then he scowls. “On our way.”
“What’s going on?”
“Babs needs us back,” Tim replies in a flat, irritated tone. Clearly he's not happy to have been interrupted. “Duke’s sending along what he found in Delphi. That’s actually another reason we wanted to find you.” He levels a sharp look at Jason. “I think it’s important we continue this conversation, but not now.”
“Small miracles,” Jason mutters under his breath.
“Probably not. Based on what Duke and Babs have said, apparently there’s a prophecy involved in all this.”
“Of fuckin' course there is,” Jason groans. "Does it say I got a starrin' role in it?"
I swear, if this involved me being a Chosen anything again, I’m out. I’ve done enough of that for three lifetimes…
"I guess we're about to find out."
Tim stands up and heads for the door to his base, and then pauses to look back at Jason. He raises an eyebrow, somehow challenging and questioning at the same time, and then holds his hand out.
Jason stares at it for a moment, almost the same way he would assess an enemy for hidden weapons, but it's just Tim's hand and he hasn't touched him in hours...
Every argument against it has already crumbled before he's reached out to lace his fingers through Tim's.
"You fight dirty," he accuses, weary.
"You like it."
That's entirely the problem, babybird.

TAGGING ➝ Grant McCarthy, Robin St. James.
LOCATION ➝ United Center. Limousine.
TIME FRAME ➝ 3/31, evening
WARNINGS ➝ NSFW.
NOTES ➝ Grant gets jealous. Robin makes him un-jealous.
ROBIN ST. JAMES
Robin didn’t know how much longer she’d be able to get away with fitted dresses. So far, she had no signs of a baby bump, though the doctor had told her that was completely normal for a first pregnancy, and that she wouldn’t really start showing until around the tenth or so week. With that in mind, she’d opted for a tight fitting dress for Grant’s retirement ceremony, and hoped she looked good enough for him to be proud to show her off to his friends. She’d secretly put in a little more effort than usual, in fact. Robin knew next to nothing about basketball, though she was hormonal enough to have found herself tearing up during Grant’s speech, mostly just because she was so proud of her boyfriend, so happy for him, and now that he was done and the rest of their party had gone home, she had no desire to be away from him for the rest of the evening. Then again, when did she? “You really are a big deal, huh?” She smirked, hand holding firmly onto his with their fingers laced just like usual. “All of these people are out here to support you, baby. That’s really cool. Do I get to meet any of them?” Her focus was, as always, on Grant, so when she heard both of their names, it caught her off guard. Mostly because she had no idea that anybody here would know her. Other than maybe from Grant’s Instagram posts. As the man approached them, Robin recognized him right away, and an easy smile formed on her lips as she leaned up to hug him with her free arm, the other hand still in Grant’s. “Tim, hi! How are you?” She greeted cheerfully, pulling back to stand closely beside her boyfriend again. She looked from one man to the other. “How do you two know each other?”
GRANT MCCARTHY
The entire night had been pretty nerve wrecking for Grant. Making that speech in front of everyone was extremely hard. Especially because he hated talking to more than one person at a time, let alone, thousands. But he had done it. And now it was finally over. His jersey was hanging in the rafters of the stadium, where it would be for eternity. It was kind of a surreal moment. His jersey was hanging up near Michael Jordan’s, something he never really saw coming. It was something his dad had always wanted for him and the fact that he hadn’t invited his parents to Chicago to share the moment with him sort of made him sad, but he was happy that Robin was there. He knew she didn’t really know all that much about basketball, but just having her support was enough for him. “I guess I am,” he said with a small shrug. He hated thinking of himself as a big deal, but the entire night was catered for him. It was all about Grant. Something he wasn’t used to. Hearing Robin’s name caught him off guard. He was really the only man there that knew her. This wasn’t her world. The basketball world was firmly his. It would be like if they were hanging out a flower shop and someone called out his name. “This is Tim. We were on the Bulls together for a couple years,” he replied simply to his girlfriend, his eyes darting back toward his former teammate. He was definitely confused. He hadn’t expected her to know anyone. Let alone know someone well enough to pull them in for a hug. “How do you two know each other?”
ROBIN ST. JAMES
She thought it was cute, the way Grant was downplaying this. “You guess?” She smirked, brow raising. There was no guessing; Grant McCarthy was a huge deal, and if Robin hadn’t realized it before, tonight had proven that to her. Of course, he’d always been a big deal to her, but for entirely other reasons. To her, he was the star of every moment they spent together. Robin liked that she was getting to be apart of something so important to her boyfriend, something where she could see professional basketball Grant in his element. Though, he did seem kind of uncomfortable, but that wasn’t surprising. She knew he would’ve rather been at home just the two of them any day. Robin almost wished that was the case when Grant questioned how she knew Tim. Mostly because she hadn’t really considered her explanation. Robin was a speak now, think later kind of person, after all, and didn’t realize she was sharing too much until she’d gotten out “Oh, Scott and I slept—” and then saw the look of horror on Tim’s face. Robin backtracked. “He’s a friend of Scott’s.” She turned to her boyfriend, offering him a bright smile. “Baby, do you want to maybe introduce me to some of your friends that I don’t already know?” This situation was quickly growing uncomfortable, Robin figured she’d give all three of them an out. “It was really nice to see you, Tim,” she said politely, waving the man off, then turned to her boyfriend with an apologetic look, her hand gently squeezing his. “Introduce me to some other people?” She prompted, hoping to change the subject.
GRANT MCCARTHY
Grant didn’t like all of the attention that came with the ceremony. It was nice, being honored for his basketball skills, but he was definitely more of a fan of smaller, intimate moments. So, the idea of walking around and introducing the woman he loved to a few people that he cared about during his career seemed more up his alley than making a speech in front of everyone. He was glad that part was over and that they were moving onto the former. Grant’s eyes jumped to Tim as Robin started to speak, her words coupled with how uncomfortable he looked painted a clear picture for him. A picture he would have rather not have in his head. He clenched his jaw, the smile and comfort on his face slipping away at the thought of Robin having sex with one of his friends. He did not return the smile Robin shot in his direction, he only stood there with a look of annoyance spread across his face as she tried her hardest to get them away from Tim. He watched as Tim walked off, his eyes sticking to him rather than looking down at Robin. His hand slipped away from hers as he brought it up to stroke his fingers over his stubble in frustration. He wanted to snap at her, not sure if he wanted to introduce her to anymore people because he wasn’t sure how many Chicago Bulls she and her husband had slept with, but that wasn’t in his nature, so he just got quiet. He stuffed his hands into his pockets, maybe as a way to stop her from being able to hold one of them, and continued walking, nodding his head at people who sent him a smile. “If you want to go back and catch up with Tim. You can,” he said simply, avoiding eye contact with her. He lifted one of his hands out of his pockets to wave at one of his former coaches, before turning his attention back to Robin, finally looking at her. “What do you want to do?”
ROBIN ST. JAMES
This was really the last thing Robin had expected to happen tonight. She had no idea that she’d even know any of Grant’s teammates, let alone have slept with one of them. Then again, she and Scott had introduced a lot of third parties into their sex life, it wasn’t that surprising. Evidently, they just hadn’t been enough for each other, not like Robin and Grant were; she’d never share him. She knew he felt the same way, which is why she understood his reaction, despite her not enjoying it. Her heart sank when he pulled his hand away, and Robin looked at him in slight shock for a moment. “Baby,” she frowned, trailing along behind him. She really didn’t want to cause a scene, not in front of Grant’s friends and colleagues. His words made her frown, and Robin reached out to gently take ahold of his arm, stopping him from walking any further. “Stop. I don’t want to catch up with anybody, I just want to be with you.” Her eyes had grown wider, filled with sadness. Robin knew Grant wasn’t a fan of PDA, but that didn’t stop her from tugging him closer to her and placing a hand delicately on his cheek, turning his face toward her. “You can’t be mad at me for something that happened before I even knew you. You know that you are all I want. You’re always all I want,” she promised in a soft voice, leaning up to press her lips to his cheek, the one her hand wasn’t already resting against. “Let’s go. We can just go home to our house and be together. I’m sorry. I really didn’t mean to ruin your night. Just come home with me, okay? Just me and you.”
GRANT MCCARTHY
Grant didn’t want to be grumpy. It was his natural instinct though. Whenever he got upset about something, he would just retreat and internalize it. It was just easier that way. He didn’t want to be that way with Robin, but he couldn’t help it. Being around someone who had kissed her and had sex with her made him grumpy. It just did. He frowned at her words, nodding his head when she told him he didn’t have a right to be mad. She was right. But it was still annoying. And in his mind, he was definitely within his rights to be annoyed by everything. “My night isn’t ruined,” he insisted, shaking his head. “I’m proud of my accomplishments,” he said with a small shrug. He exhaled a deep breath as he pulled away from her to move in the direction of the exit. He kept his eyes fixated on the ground as they walked, not really wanting to look up at anyone, especially her. If someone saw him leaving they would probably ask why he was leaving his own celebration early, but if any of these people knew Grant well then, they wouldn’t really be surprised by his early exit. Once they’d reached their limousine, he popped open the door, letting her enter first, before sliding inside himself. “Are you sure?” He asked, reaching up to scratch his head. “Back there, you said you only want me, but how do you know that? How do you know that in ten years you won’t want to call Tim up to join us?” He questioned, burying his face in his hands.
ROBIN ST. JAMES
It was a conflicting situation. On one hand, Robin understood why Grant was upset. Plus, she’d literally flipped out at him only days prior because someone had innocently kissed his cheek, so it would make her kind of hypocritical to be upset with him for being upset now. But on the other, it had happened long before she’d known him. Still, she could understand why he was acting the way he was. “I’m proud of you, too,” she agreed, “I’m so proud of you. I’m so proud to be here with you.” She wanted to reassure him, but evidently he was still mad. Or sad. Or whatever he currently was. She followed along behind him, smiling politely at anybody watching them exit, then climbed into the limousine once Grant had grabbed the door for her. She slid across the seat, but scooted closer to him once he’d gotten in, too. His question made her heart ache. “Is that really what you think? That I’d ever want anyone else to join us?” It was obvious he wasn’t trying to be too close to her, but Robin wasn’t giving up, and reached for his hand, holding it in both of her own. “I will never want anyone else. The idea of sharing you with anybody makes me feel sick. And the idea of letting anybody other than you touch me is even worse.” She sighed, trying to lace their fingers. “Scott was the one that needed someone else, not me. Or I didn’t think I did, but I guess I did, because I do need someone else, I need you. You are all I want,” she repeated, “You have to know that. You have to know how in love I am with you.”
GRANT MCCARTHY
Grant couldn’t even describe how he was feeling. It was mostly insecurity mixed with plain old discomfort from knowing that someone he considered a friend had slept with the love of his life, but what was he going to do about it? Nothing. He knew he needed to move on and just get over it but stewing in his unhappiness seemed a lot easier than talking through it and moving on. It was pretty clear that he wasn’t in a touchy-feely mood, but he was sure that would not stop Robin. He hadn’t been in a touchy-feely mood when they first became friends, but that never stopped her from trying to touch him. “I don’t know what to think,” he sighed out, his eyes glancing down at their hands when she reached for his. He nodded his head as she spoke, spreading his fingers so she could lace her between them. Another sigh escaped from his lips as he leaned back against the seat. “It’s fine, Robin,” he mumbled out, feeling bad that he’d made her have to explain herself to him. She didn’t deserve the attitude he was giving her. “I’m sorry. I know you love me. I’m sorry,” he said, shaking his head. “We’re fine. I’m just tired and grumpy. Let’s just go home,” he muttered, leaning forward to tap on the partition to signal the driver to start moving. He shut his eyes for a second, resting them as he took in a deep breath. “Your past is your past. I’m sorry for letting it interfere with our night.”
ROBIN ST. JAMES
Although she couldn’t blame him for how he was feeling, Robin was quietly hurt by the accusation, and even more so that Grant apparently didn’t know her feelings for him well enough to not know what to think. That didn’t stop her from trying to get him to engage properly, though. It didn’t stop her from taking his hand or from lacing their fingers. She always wanted to be touching Grant. It was almost like a need by this point, in fact. “I do,” she nodded her head, “I do love you.” It didn’t matter that he said he knew, she would never stop telling him. Robin watched as Grant signaled the driver, waiting for him to sit back again, before moving to climb onto his lap. She sat sideways, but turned her body to face him, placing her hands on his cheeks and making him look at her. He probably didn’t want her sitting on him, since it seemed he could barely stand her touching him right now, but she would at least hopefully have his attention from here. “You don’t have to apologize. I just really need you to look at me right now and to tell me that you know I don’t want anybody else. I’m so, so in love with you, Grant. It makes me sad that you think I’d ever need anybody other than you.”
GRANT MCCARTHY
He just wanted to get far away from that stadium. Grant wanted to leave every feeling he’d just been hit with back in that parking lot and never deal with any of it again. It had been a rollercoaster. One minute he was ecstatic about his accomplishments, then he was nervously making a speech, and before he knew it, he was talking to a guy who’d had sex with the woman he was planning on proposing too. It didn’t change how he felt about her. Nothing could ever change that. It all just worried him. She’d live this whole other life with her husband and they had done things he had no interest in doing. His eyes looked up at her as she moved onto his lap, his hand instinctively resting against the small of her back. Even if he didn’t think he was in the mood to touch her, his body just did it. They were tethered together at this point. Even if he tried to stay away from her, he knew it wouldn’t be physically possible. He didn’t even know how to keep his hands off her. “I was just worried,” he replied honestly. He started tracing circles on her back, using it as a way to distract himself from the feelings that were still roaming around in his mind. “I know you love me,” he mumbled out, finally meeting her eyes with his own after avoiding them for so long. “I just worry that I won’t always be enough for you. And that’s not your fault. It’s me, okay? It’s my own damage. I’ll get over it.”
ROBIN ST. JAMES
His concerns made sense. As jealous as it made her to think of Grant with other people, she didn’t actually have anybody to think of him with, whereas she’d had Scott. She’d been married, she’d shared a home and a life with someone else. It didn’t compare to what she and Grant had, though. It didn’t even come close. At least he didn’t push her off of him. Robin knew Grant wasn’t in the mood to be near her right now, so there’d been every possibility of him pushing her away, but she was glad that he hadn’t. It really would’ve broken her heart if he had. Then again, it kind of broke it to hear that he was worried, especially because Robin completely understood that feeling. That feeling of not being enough. “You know that I get that, right? I get it,” she said softly, leaning forward to press her lips gently to his forehead. “I worry about the same thing. That you’ll want someone else eventually. But deep down I know that you won’t, I know that you and I are meant to be together, Grant. I wish you knew that, too. I wish I could make you see that nobody will ever even compare to you. You’re it for me.” Wrapping an arm around his neck, she studied his face with a sad expression of her own. “Do you want me to go away?” She asked in a small voice, evidently having no intention of doing so considering how close she was to him; literally sitting on him. But she also didn’t want to overcrowd him, not if he didn’t want her. “Give you some space?”
GRANT MCCARTHY
The last thing Robin needed to worry about while she was literally growing a life inside of her was her idiot boyfriend acting like a baby. As much as he was insecure and needed that reassurance from her, it really wasn’t her job to take care of him. He was a grown man and he knew he shouldn’t have made her feel bad for something that was really out of her control. As much as he wanted to just get home and cuddle with her, he knew he was going to have to open up more with her. Robin wasn’t going to let him get away with saying a couple words about how he was feeling and then just continue pouting on his, well now their, side of the limo. That wasn’t how their relationship worked. “You’re the only person I’ve ever wanted,” he said with a shrug. “I’ve only ever loved you. You’re the love of my life and deep down, I think I know I’m yours too. But when we run into someone that you brought into your bed for your ex-husband, it just reminds me that you loved him. And that shouldn’t affect me, but it did because I’m neurotic and naturally jealous of anyone who’s been with you, especially Scott.” Another sigh escaped from his lips as he shifted his gaze away from hers for a moment. None of this was her fault. It was the fault of his own broken, neurotic brain, and it sucked that she had to deal with it. He brought his eyes back to hers when wrapped her arm around his neck, immediately shaking his head at her question. “No,” he whispered out, staring straight ahead at her. “I never want space from you,” he mumbled out, his eyes falling to her lips. “I always want you, Robin,” he breathed out, pulling her a little closer to him so that he could press his lips against hers, having no doubts that she would kiss him back.
ROBIN ST. JAMES
It was obvious that Grant didn’t want to talk about this, but Robin wasn’t going to let it slide that easily. She didn’t believe in bottling things up, that was how you grew to resent a person, and Robin never wanted that between she and Grant. She’d rather put everything out there so they could fix it and move forward. Luckily, she knew he already knew that about her. She listened to him explain himself, a small sigh leaving her lips in response. “That’s completely understandable, baby. I know this is not what you want to hear, but I did love Scott, I wouldn’t have married him if I didn’t. But I’m absolutely serious when I say that I didn’t love him the same way I loved you. I have never loved anybody the way that I love you. I think with Scott it was more just,” she paused, thinking for a moment, “More of an idea. I liked the idea of being in love. But with you, it’s all about you. I’m in love with you.” Robin watched the way Grant’s gaze drifted to her lips, and didn’t realize how much she’d tensed up until he assured her that he didn’t want space. That was the last thing she’d wanted, but she would’ve tried to give it to him if he’d needed it. She felt herself relax now, though, especially when he began to lean in. Robin tightened her arm a little around him, ducking her head to meet his lips with her own. “I love you,” she mumbled into the kiss, bringing her other hand up to rest against his cheek, lips parting slightly to deepen their kiss.
GRANT MCCARTHY
Talking about feelings still made Grant uncomfortable. No matter how much time he spent with Robin, he was still Grant McCarthy, And Grant McCarthy still struggled to get out what he wanted to say. But he would always try for her. It didn’t hurt him to hear that she loved Scott. He knew that. It wasn’t news to hear that, but he liked all of the other words she was saying. Even though he never doubted that Robin was in love with him, it still felt good to hear it. It still helped his mind not wander into those dark places that tried to convince him that they were just some sort of fling. He knew that they weren’t. It was obvious that their relationship was something more serious than that. They were going to be together forever. He was sure of that and he was annoyed with himself that he’d let one run in with Tim try and convince him otherwise. “I know you love me. I know this is it for us,” he said with a small nod. “I knew it the moment I kissed you.” And that was the truth. The first time he’d kissed Robin and then everything that happened afterwards had felt so natural. It had been obvious that it wasn’t just a kiss. Or just two people hooking up. There was something there. It felt similar to the way he was kissing her now, like he never wanted to come up for air. He rested his hand against her thigh, gently sliding his hand along her bare skin under her dress. “I love you too,” he murmured against her lips, before pulling away. He moved his lips away from hers and pressed his lips to her neck, trailing a few kisses along her skin.
ROBIN ST. JAMES
So far, Grant had seemed to be the strong one in their relationship. Which was kind of surprising, but only because Robin liked to consider herself pretty strong in general, and Grant had come across as someone quiet and maybe even a little nervous at first. That evidently wasn’t the case, though. At least not around her. It felt almost weird now to have him be the insecure one, mostly because Robin had been so scared of losing him, she hadn’t really seen it from his point of view. She hadn’t expected him to be scared of losing her. It was obvious that they never would; they were strong together, they were in this for the long haul, she had absolutely no doubts about that. She wanted to make sure that Grant didn’t either. She looked down at her boyfriend, offering him a small, reassuring smile. “I knew it then, too. I don’t think we ever really stood a chance at being without each other,” Robin laughed softly, her fingertips stroking gently along the back of his neck. “We met and we were just hooked right away. I’m not complaining.” She really wouldn’t change anything about their relationship. She didn’t care that it had been fast; it had been perfect, as far as she was concerned. Once she could finally get away from Scott officially, then she’d be completely happy. “I know you do,” she whispered, tilting her head slightly to the side as his lips trailed along her neck. The feeling of his hand on her thigh had her instinctively parting her legs a little bit, and just like that, Robin was blocking out the rest of the world and everything was about Grant all over again. “You can fuck me right here in this limo, if you want to,” she whispered by his ear, pressing a small kiss to it, “Show me I’m all yours.”
GRANT MCCARTHY
Grant liked being the strong silent type. He liked that people couldn’t readily read his emotions. It was different with Robin though. She knew him better than anyone. And as much as he tried to hide how he was feeling from her, she was always going to be able to tell because she knew him on a level that was deeper than anyone else in the world. His parents didn’t know him that well. And neither did some of his best friends. It was definitely something that was reserved for Robin. And it only made him want to marry her more. It was very true that he had been drawn to Robin from the start. More so than that, there was no way they were ever going to stay away from each other. They had tried that and had failed miserably. Sure, they only tried for a few hours at an ice-skating rink, but they tried. And failed miserably. The two of them were never going to be just friends. It just didn’t work. Not with the way they kissed each other and held each other. Being friends was a complete impossibility. He moved his hand further up her leg as her thighs parted, sliding up her dressed as his hand moved higher. Her words turned him on, but there really wasn’t much Robin had to do to turn him on. His breath hitched as she whispered in his ear. He pulled his hand away from her thigh to wrap around her waist, adjusting their positioning so that she was perfectly straddling his lap. “You are all mine,” he whispered out, sliding his hand back to its position under her dress. He grinded himself against her, letting her feel just how much she was already turning him on. “I am so hard, babe,” he breathed out, finding her hand and lowering it to the obvious rise in his pants.
ROBIN ST. JAMES
Considering the way they’d been right from the start, it was really not at all surprising that they were where they were right now. They’d never been able to keep their hands to themselves. All Robin had done was make crepes one morning and they’d found themselves in bed together right after, so that was proof enough of how drawn to one another they were. It wasn’t any kind of shock that they could go from something negative one minute to practically fucking the next. That had been how their fight last week had ended, too. Robin just struggled to keep her hands off of her boyfriend, not just because of her pregnancy hormones. She just wanted to be as close to him as possible at all times. If he hadn’t turned her around, she would’ve done it herself, and soon Robin’s legs were parted, her body pressed up against his as she straddled his thighs. She could feel the growing bulge in his pants already, which of course only made her want him more. “I am,” she promised in a soft voice, bringing her lips back to Grant’s. She parted them slightly, slipping her tongue through the part in his lips to move against his, letting him put her hand where he wanted it. She’d already known how hard he was, but she liked being able to feel properly, and found her lips turning upward into a small smirk against his. “I love that,” she whispered against his lips, pulling back to begin trailing kisses along his jaw, her fingers fumbling with the zipper on his pants until she could slide her hand inside of them as well as his boxers and begin rubbing her hand along his shaft. “I love how hard I can make you.” She ducked her head to press her lips to his neck, leaving wet, open mouthed kisses in their path. “I love how much you want me. I want you, too.” She whispered, bringing her lips up to his ear now, voice still quiet. “I’m so wet for you, baby.”
GRANT MCCARTHY
it was clear that neither one of them like fighting with the other. Even though, it was never really intense. Grant still hated it and it was obvious to him that Robin didn’t like it much either. He could tell that his grumpiness earlier had broken his heart and he hated it when he thought he had upset her back when they were playing mini golf the other. Fighting didn’t make either one of them feel good, but the making up afterward? That was different story. It was starting to become a pattern, but Grant didn’t have any complaints about it. All of their fights were starting to end with the two of them wrapped around each other. It was just how they worked. It was where they belonged. There was no better feeling for him than having Robin in his arms. His breath hitched as he felt her hand slip under his zipper and wrap around him. “I’m all yours, baby” he breathed out, enjoying the feeling of her stroking her hand along his length. Then she was whispering in his ear, making the promise that she was just as turned on as he was, but he definitely wanted to feel for himself. He slid his hand along the waistband of her panties before slipping dipping his hand inside, his fingers immediately finding their way to her clit. As much as he loved their slower instances of love making, he also loved this feeling too. They just couldn’t keep their hands off of each other and he didn’t want to take anything slowly. He brought his other hand to her panties, pulling them apart at the seams before ripping them off and tossing them to the side. They wouldn’t be missed. He didn’t want any more fabric between them than what was already there. He pushed her dress all the way up, his fingers still circling around her wet center while his other hand found its position on her ass, gripping it tightly. “Tell me how badly you want me to fuck you,” he groaned out, leaning forward to press a small kiss against her neck. “Tell me you’re mine.”
ROBIN ST. JAMES
They could generally get here whether they’d been fighting previously or not. She couldn’t think of two consecutive days where they hadn’t wound up having sex, and Robin always loved it. She loved the attention her boyfriend paid to her body. Whether it was fast and desperate or slow and sensual, it was always filled with love, and it always made her feel thoroughly appreciated. “You are,” she agreed, fingers wrapping around him and the pace of her hand quickening some. His pants made it difficult for her to move too much, but she could feel him hardening further in her grasp, so she wasn’t worried. As soon as Grant’s fingers were against her, Robin began to grind her hips, making sure he could feel how wet she was for him, let him feel that it was only for him. And then he was tugging her panties off, and Robin couldn’t deny how hot the action had been. “Damn, babe,” she smirked, voice quiet as her eyes locked with his. “I like this side of you.” She liked every side of him, but she was totally here for this possessive Grant, and she definitely wasn’t going to hold back. “I don’t just want you to,” she breathed, head tilting slightly to accommodate his lips, “I need you to. I’m all yours, Grant. Nobody else is allowed to touch me. Nobody else gets to fuck me, this is all for you.” Her hand moved from inside of his pants, and Robin was grateful that his zipper came down pretty low, it meant she could guide him out, her other hand taking ahold of his wrist and moving his hand away from her center so she could position him against her. “Yours,” Robin whispered, lowering her hips to begin taking him inside of her, “Show me.”
GRANT MCCARTHY
Grant loved touching Robin. Every part of her. But there was something amazing about being able to feel exactly what he was doing to her. There was no bigger turn on to him than knowing that he was driving her wild. And he loved being with her no matter what speed they were going, but there was also something about the desperation of just needing to feel every inch of each other so badly that he was ripping off her panties. The words pouring out of her mouth felt good to hear too. It was always good to hear that his girlfriend needed him just as much as he needed her. Grant had always shied away from love and feeling connected to someone. It really seemed like a colossal waste of time. But now that he was with Robin, he could see the benefits of sleeping with someone he was in love with. Every kiss, every touch was only intensified by the fact that were so many feelings involved. “You need me to?” He echoed, sliding his tongue upward against her lips before pulling back with a smirk. He could feel himself throbbing against her hand, ready to be inside of her as soon as possible. “You are all mine,” he whispered out, whimpering lightly at the loss of contact with her, but it was soon replaced by the feeling of her guiding him inside of her a soft moan immediately escaping from his lips. He started rocking his hips against hers, thrusting upwards as he crashed his lips back onto hers. He pulled back slightly, biting down on her bottom lip as the hand he had gripped on her ass slapped against it, knowing there was no way their driver didn’t hear what was going on back there. He reached his hand up and tangled it in her hair, pulling back on it before pressing his lips to her neck. “You are fucking mine,” he breathed out, trying to catch his breath.
ROBIN ST. JAMES
It was no secret that Robin was not and never had been a shy person. She’d told Grant her life story within five minutes of the two of them meeting, including intimate details about her husband’s sex life, so the fact that she was entirely okay with fucking her boyfriend in the back of a limo with a driver who could probably hear everything really wasn’t that surprising. Besides, it was easy for her to block everybody else out when she was focusing on Grant the way she was. She didn’t care who saw or who heard, what they saw or what they heard, she was just wrapped up in her boyfriend. In the love she felt for him, and the desperate need she had for him. “I need you to,” she repeated, looking down at him as her hips lowered, taking him fully inside of her. A small whimper fell from her lips at the initial feeling. “I need you.” Just like she wasn’t shy about where they did this, she wasn’t shy about letting Grant know what she wanted, or about the way she began to immediately rock her hips against his as hard as she did. There was nothing slow about this, she just wanted to fuck him, so that was exactly what she was going to do. His hand slapping against her ass caused her to smirk, even more so with the feeling of his fingers in her hair. “All yours,” she breathed, wrapping her arms around his neck, her head ducking so she could press her lips to his skin. She trailed kisses down his jaw again, right the way down to his shoulder, her teeth biting gently down against his skin. Her breathing was uneven already, her words whimpered out against his skin. “I wish I could take my dress off, show you everything that’s yours.” There would be time for that when they were home, of course. She just didn’t want any barrier between them now. Robin’s hips began to move faster, grinding down harder against him, and despite the fact that maybe she should’ve, she didn’t even try to hold back the sounds of her moans, volume increasing quickly.
GRANT MCCARTHY
Grant didn’t really know what had come over him. Clearly, running into someone who had been intimate with Robin made him even more possessive over their sexual relationship. He didn’t even know why. He wasn’t insecure about that. It was clear that the two of them had palpable sexual chemistry. That had been there from the start of everything. But the idea of Scott and Tim touching her and making her feel the way he did drove him nuts. He didn’t want to think about it, but it was the first thing that popped into his head when she slipped up and explained how she knew Tim. Finally, the thoughts were gone and all he was focusing on was making his girlfriend feel good. In the way that only he could. “No one can make you come like I can,” he breathed out against her skin, his breath just as stagnant as ever. His hand was back gripping at her ass as he moaned at her words. It was definitely hot that they were in the back of this limo completely going at it, but kind of frustrating that they were both still fully clothed and making it work as best they could. The friction caused by her grinding harder against him caused his breath to hitch as he moaned out. “Fuck.” He brought their lips back together as he moved harder and faster against her hips. “Is this what you think about? When you’re home alone touching yourself on our bed?” He could feel himself swelling up inside of her as he began to grow tired of the amount of clothes they were still wearing too. He couldn’t really control most of the sounds expelling from his lips. It was obvious how she was making him feel and he didn’t really feel like holding back. He knew once they were home they probably wouldn’t make it upstairs before they were at it again. This was definitely just the first round of the night.
ROBIN ST. JAMES
Robin had always been pretty adventurous in the bedroom, maybe a side effect of being a person that had absolutely no filter, so she definitely had her kinks. She hadn’t realized that having someone she cared so deeply about be so possessive over her was one of them until now, though. But it evidently was, because the way Grant was fucking her, everything he was saying to her, it was all just adding to the whole experience. “No one, baby,” she promised, her words higher pitched and slightly uneven with her movements and the way she was moaning for him. Robin brought her hands to Grant’s shoulders, gripping onto him with her fingers as their movements intensified, their speed picking up. Even with their lips pressed together again, it wasn’t doing much to drown out her sounds, the way she was whimpering and moaning his name. “You,” She stammered out, “I think about you. My fingers are your fingers when I’m touching myself, I’m thinking about how good you fuck me.” She brought her lips to his ear, voice softening, though it was still higher pitched and just as uneven, “I always, always moan your name, just like right now.” His name fell from her lips easily amidst a series of moans, right there by his ear, her hips grinding hard against him. She wanted to make him come, and Robin knew she wasn’t going to last too much longer herself.
GRANT MCCARTHY
Grant had definitely been sort of embarrassed by the way he acted earlier in the night, but he was glad they could put all of that in the past. His jealousy was unwarranted and unnecessary. It was clear where Robin’s heart belonged. And he knew he didn’t need to keep feeling the way he did about Scott. It wasn’t Robin’s fault that she was still stuck married to that guy. He knew that if it was just up to her then the marriage would have been completely over by now, but there was nothing she could do. She had to wait for Scott to finally honor her wishes and end their marriage. Grant really wasn’t worried about it anymore. The only thing on his mind was the woman currently sitting on his lap, in his arms, and how he was going to make her happy for the rest of her life. The words pouring out of her mouth were just enough to keep pulling him closer and closer to the edge. She was all his. So much so, that he was the only person turning her on. That was exactly what he needed to hear. Then he heard his name coming from her lips and then he knew he was not going to last much longer. His body tensed as he rode his final wave, finally feeling himself release as he pushed his lips against hers one more time, trying to quiet anymore moans that could pop out of his mouth. The poor driver had probably already heard enough coming from that backseat from the night. He struggled to catch his breath after he was finished, he leaned back as he pulled his lips away from hers and rested his head against the seat. “Fuck,” he breathed out, keeping his arms around her. He took in a deep breath as he looked up at her with a small smile. “I love you, babe.”
