Thanks for the tag, @ofspacecrafts! I've been going through a case of writer's block, which means that I've been ping-ponging a lot through the google docs this weekend, many of which don't even have proper titles.

1. From the final chapter of can't fake what you can't break up with (I know, I know! It is a shocker even to me that I've cracked this open)

That meth head must have really clocked him earlier if he ever thought that there was a possibility of this happening without Gloria also threatening to stop paying Emery's malpractice premiums if she didn't fill seats at the hundred-dollars-a-plate event that half of the bride's family were now going to miss because an impending hurricane had landlocked them in Jamaica. When Abbot continues to gape at her like that will convince her to go to Rye, New York with him, Walsh reminds him that if she wanted to spend her weekend with a bunch of elitist assholes at a golf club, she'd take her father up on his standing offer to have brunch.

They both look up at the gray clouds shifting into place above the tent that the organizers are now hastily trying to put up. In an effort to appear more easygoing to her salt of the earth second-husband-to-be, Cecile hadn't made the wedding planner come up with fifteen different contingencies in case the flowers were wrong or the caterers had messed up or the sky was about to crack open twenty minutes before the outdoor ceremony was due to start. Her mother was trying to "go with the flow" more, which was absolutely ridiculous because anyone who had ever spent more than two hours in Cecile's presence knew that her capacity to be a raging bitch was boundless. It was something that Emery had proudly inherited but hid better. These character flaws were baked in and two years of dating Marty Abbot, proud owner of multiple beer koozies and dedicated composting aficionado, could never be enough to chip them off.  "You mean you don't want to hear a rant about the damage that Alanis has done to society's understanding of irony?" Emery takes a sip of her vodka-tonic before telling her sister with a smirk, "I bet Alanis would've had a backup plan for rain on her wedding day."

danny douglas - substitute pe teacher, star trek lover, "roomates" with andy. super sweet guy. goofy as hell. kinda like mr sinclair (for irls). all his students ship him and his roommate (they don't know andy's name). struggles with BPD and depression but hates to talk about it and puts on an act (31)

andy white - literally the re-embodiment of wallace from scott pilgrim. super monotone. "roommates" with danny. very prone to miscommunication due to monotoness and misunderstanding. works in an office cubicle (no one knows what he does). can't really pick up social cues and is extremely awkward (undiagnosed autism. doesn't know it exists) (29)

jacob anderson - ex of both danny and andy (at different times), super famous, yet none of his fans know about his past relationships with danny and andy. manipulative but does want danny back. currently dating melanie (fans know, they love them). scared that melanie will act negatively to his bisexuality and will think he's cheating on her (she won't). had some traumatic experiences that eventually turned into manipulation (he struggles with Trichotillomania). There is a reason the most successful actors and writers have individual businesses and everyday jobs. There is a reason you also see some sort of mentor ship and sidelong project planners with new upcoming actors and actresses.

Sans any misconduct people have been KNOWN to give warnings of Hollywood and holding YOURSELF down when you are financially able to do so! Intentionally paying higher thresholds for their friends, so come their next project, they can "rationally" raise the offering!

There's a reason most directors or box office holders like the Wayans brothers, Adam Sandler, Jamie foxx, Ben stiller, Robert Downey junior, Andy samberg, Wes Anderson hell even Tyler perry (despite my personal views of some these people-these are just examples of media i've encountred and not really a inclusive indepth list) also hire the same cast and people and you see the reported results of how well they are taking care of and appreciated with luxuries and offers!

Like these people have been telling is for years in interviews that this isn't a lucrative business (all encompassing the fees bills expenses, etc, that they have to self provide outside of funding). And idk how many actresses have to continuously state that all those cute fancy dresses set or carpet they were, they literally won't even be able to cover the cost to own it for real, and they get by from those media presences endorsing perfume and even doing shitty AMC commercials etc.

An ‘ancestor’ of Whouffaldi

One aspect of Whouffaldi - the Twelth Doctor/Clara Oswald ship - that makes it quite striking is the fact there is of course quite the age difference between the characters; both in terms of the actors of course, but also in the show (we’ll ignore the fact Twelve is 2,000 or so years old when he regenerates, but apparent age). For some that’s been a turn-off, as we know. For some it’s part of the appeal.

But this isn’t the first sci-fi show have a very strongly implied romance between a younger woman and an older man. But I totally missed it the first time I saw it, until the series came out on DVD some years ago and I realized that Jaime Sommers and Oscar Goldman on The Bionic Woman seemed to have a low-key romance. The late Richard Anderson, who played Oscar, I believe confirmed that he played the role as if Oscar was in love with Jaime (which must have been awkward given Jaime was established as Steve Austin’s soulmate!). But there are a few moments where they basically stopped being ambiguous and had Oscar and Jaime do things that ... well, they probably aren’t proper office procedure!

Here’s an example from an episode called Angel of Mercy. Jaime is about to be sent into a dangerous jungle for whatever reason. She’s working undercover so her helicopter pilot - played by a nearly unrecognizable Andy Griffith - is very reluctant to take her. The usual 1970s “this is no place for a woman” attitudes are shown, though not taken seriously remembering the Bionic Woman is capable of ripping the helicopter in half and hitting Andy over the head with it.

Anyway, Oscar is on hand to see Jaimie off. And they share this look:

And then he does something I’m pretty sure he never did when sending Steve on a mission:

Andy sees this and he gives a priceless “Oh, give me a break” look (he says “I don’t believe this” - so HE senses something going on):

It’s a shame they never really developed this further because while the franchise set Jaime and Steve up as the OTP, of course, it might have been refreshing to see them pair Jaime and Oscar up in a more official way. But just as with Whouffaldi, what is left unsaid and conveyed by looks like this and the occasional sign of affection... in some respects it made it more fun.

Oh, and one more thing: there was a 23-year age gap between Richard Anderson and Lindsay Wagner. A little less than that between Peter and Jenna, but not by much...
