Decided to make an Amazing Digital Circus fan fic. This is the fastest original fan fic I ever written. Under one month? It's taking me over a year to set up the twists and turns for Puss in Boots, five for Trolls, and took me three for Ducktales, and I gave up on Owl House. But this one took me in under a month? It has to do with all the theories. Anyways! Here's my fic, I'm super excited to see if people enjoy this.

Summary

Polina had it all. She was now a famous author and had many contracts for films and adaptions. Her book was about a little jester girl named Pomni who would go on wacky adventures with her friends. Cute and simple fun for all ages. But there's something she can't shake off. A sick feeling that has stuck with her for years now. Could it be because the fame is getting to her, or could it be something else?

She was in a coma for a year, or she was told she was. What happened to her while she was in that coma? Why can't she remember? Her boss says she passed out the moment she put on the strange head set and was sent to the hospital. But why does she feel like there's more to it than that? What is she not being told? And why do her own books make her feel sick? It's almost as if her books are a piece to a puzzle that she had forgotten to put together. Could her books be the key to remembering what happened when she was in a coma? Could her books be some kind of memories?

Suddenly struck with a need to explain to you how boat pronouns work (I work in the marine industry).

When you're talking about the design of the boat, you say "it".

When the boat is still being built, your say "it".

When the boat is nearing completion, you can say "it" or "she".

When the boat is floating in the water you probably say "she", unless there is still a lot of work to be done (e.g. no engine yet) then you say "it".

When the boat is officially launched and operating, you say "she". If you continue to say "it" at this point you are not incorrect but suspiciously untraditional. You are not playing the game.

If you are referring to a boat you don't really know anything about you may say "it" ("there's a big boat, it's coming this way"). But if you know its name, it's probably "she" ("there's the Waverley, she's on her way to Greenock").

If you are talking about boats in general, you say "it" ("when a boat is hit by a wave it heels over")

If you speak about a boat in complimentary terms, it's "she" ("she's a grand boat"). If you are being disparaging it may be it, but not necessarily ("it's as ugly as sin", "she's a grotty old tub").

If she has a boy's name, she's still she. "Boy James", "King Edward", "Sir David Attenborough"? The pronoun is she.

If it's a dumb barge (no engine), you say it. But if it's a rowing boat (no engine), you say she.

I hope this has cleared things up so that you may not be in danger of misgendering floating objects.

Fictional characters are objects.

They are not people. You cannot "objectify" them, because they have no personhood to be deprived of. They have no humanity to be erased. You cannot "disrespect" them, because they are not real.

Robot characters who are given names like SL-308-62 but instead of their human friend going Well let's call you Sally for short, they instead ask the other if they Like their current name.

"Do you like your serial number?" they ask. "Yes, quite. It reminds me of who I am" the robot replies. "I have heard others like me go by different names after some time, and maybe one day I'll choose one for myself, too. But right now that is my full name, yes" they continue.

Because it's not your decision to make whether or not the robot will receive a new name. It should be theirs only. What's the difference? One is more complex and the other is simplified. They were both given by strangers instead of themselves.

"62 will do," they conclude. "It's my model number - there will be no other 62 after me."
