☆ A Foam-idable Foe. It was a friendly combat event that Suletta hadn't intended in participating in, but she'd been scouted after someone witnessed her well above average physical abilities. Abilities she still didn't think were all that amazing, honestly.
Tumblr media
"Um... I'm not really sure how this happened?" The contestants in this round were down to two, a sea of (pretending to be) wounded fellow contestants laying on floaties, rafts, or just floating in the water. The other was a girl with teal hair on the other side.
Suletta had taken out about half of them herself with only her foam saber, the girl had dealt with the rest. She seemed pretty serious. "I... don't mind withdrawing! I don't really think we need to fight?"

The Haunting of Danny Fenton
Chapter 5, Part 1
Masterpost (pls no editing. am still sick. *cough cough*)
Over the nexts few weeks, the team worked tirelessly. They played with the laws of science and magic and things unknown to try and bring Wally back. With every adjustment to the machine, Wally’s signal got stronger.
Danny got sicker.
His spirits stayed strong. Danny was clearly driven by getting Wally back, even at the expense of himself. Dick did what he could to help. He brought the team food, lured Danny away to rest, and carried him to bed when he fell asleep in the lab, yet again. It was hard to watch Danny destroy himself, but it wasn’t something that Dick could stop. Selfishly, he also didn’t want to; he needed Wally back.
That day, though, felt like a turning point. That day, Danny suggested himself that he take a break instead of having to be gently bullied into taking one.
“Drink this,” Dick ordered as he passed Danny a bottle of electrolyte drink.
Danny eyed the purple concoction dubiously, but eventually broke the seal and took a sip. “That’s nasty.”
“Yeah, but it’s good for you,” Dick said. He ran his fingers through Danny’s hair, knowing how much the other liked that. “Are you up to eating something?”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Danny said with a dismissive little wave.
Wally huffed. “You are not fine!”
“Wally,” Danny sighed.
“Don’t Wally me!” Wally snapped back. “You aren’t fine! We can all see that you’re not fine!”
“Any what do you want me to do about it?! This is how we get you back!” Danny motioned, the purple drink splashing. He cussed softly and wiped at his hand with his the sleeve of the flannel shirt he wore (borrowed from Wally’s closet). When he continued, he sounded so defeated. “This is how we get you back. I wanted you back before, sure, but how I know you, Wally. I know kind and funny and caring you are. I know how much you mean to everyone. We have to get you back.”
“It’s hurting you,” Wally pleaded.
“Yeah,” Danny said with a worrying shrug. “But lots of things do. I’m broken, Walls, I have been since the first time I died when I was fourteen. And sure, at the time I could ignore most of it. I had the power of youth on my side and the drive of being a teen hero. Y’all know how it is. But I’m not a teen anymore. And I’ve died again. And I guess a third time now too.
“Going to the grocery story hurts me. Stressful classes hurt me. My stupid closet of a room hurts me! At least with this I’m doing something good. I get it. I know that this might make everything worse long term. I know that I’m risking myself, but it’s a risk I’m willing to take to get you back, okay? Can’t you just respect that? That this is my choice?”
Wally slumped into himself, rubbing at his own face. “Dick, give Danny a kiss on the forehead for me, okay?”
“Dick’s not going to—” Danny started and then promptly shut up when Dick leaned over and pressed a long, soft kiss to Danny’s temple. “Oh.”
“I’m pretty sure that I know if my boyfriend is willing to kiss the cute guy I’m crushing on,” Wally said with that smug little note to his voice that Dick was so fond of.
Danny startled. “Wait, boyfriend? Crushing on? What?”
“I think you’re cute and sweet and pretty damn wonderful, even if you’re a reckless idiot,” Wally said. He crouched down so that he could meed Danny’s eyes. “But reckless idiot is a little my type.”
“Hey!” Dick protested with a laugh.
Wally just shot him an innocent smile before he focused back on Danny. “Dick and I started date in an open relationship. We were young, he was still figuring things out and exploring. It worked. So, once I’m back and you’re feeling alright, I’d like to take you out on a date. If you want to date me, I mean.”
“Us,” Dick added. “If you’d want to date us.”
“Us?” Wally repeated hopefully.
“Us. I think that you’re pretty amazing too, Danny. And…” Dick paused for a moment as he thought of how to phrase what he was feeling. “Well, at this point of where Wally and I are, I think that I’d much rather add someone to our relationship, rather than have a separate one going on. If you’re okay with it, I’d like to try an us.”
“I, um, that’s—” Danny stopped to clear his throat. His face was flushed an adorable pink. (Dick always did like blushers.) “You two know how to make a guy feel special, don’t you? I, yeah, I’d like to try. But also I get it if once Wally’s back you two change your mind or something, like there will be no hard feel—”
Dick leaned in and shut Danny up with a kiss. His lips tasted of purple and ozone.
“Hey! No fair!” Wally whined. “I found him first, I should have gotten to kiss him first!”
The kiss dissolved into giggles and Dick cheerfully flicked Wally off as Danny buried his face against Dick’s neck. “Your kisses are toxic.”
“My—no! Okay, I mean, not me kisses specifically! Danny, don’t listen to him. As soon as I won’t cause you a seizure anymore, I’ll show you what real kissing is like,” Wally pleaded.
Danny just continued to laugh. He was leaning heavily into Dick now, who leaned back against the arm of the couch and just let Danny drape over him.
“It’s okay, Wally,” Dick said. “I know you’re a good kisser. You’re also very good at—”
“Okay! Thank you Dick!” Wally interrupted. He was still a little staticy in appearance, but Dick could tell that Wally was blushing. (Dick really did love blushers.) “We’ll save that sort of talk for after a few dates, okay?”
“Sure, if you want. I think it’s a good selling point though,” Dick said innocently.
Wally rolled his eyes and and flopped down on the couch. Parts of him were going through the couch, and he had to stay carefully away from Danny, but it was so good to see Wally sitting there in the living room relaxed and nearly solid. It gave Dick hope, and hope was a dangerously wonderful thing.
Dick played with the short hair at the base of Danny’s scalp. “So, no food right now?”
“You’re the one who laid down,” Danny pointed out through a yawn.
Dick gave a noncommittal hum. “How about I see if the others want to order in and we can all eat when it shows up. Maybe Indian?”
“Indian is good,” Danny agreed. He sounded half asleep already. “Get me… buttered chicken and naan. Lots of naan.”
“We’ll have naan for days,” Dick assured him. He kept up the light petting until Danny went lax with sleep.

Totk roleswap because of course I am doing that
(might add on to this when I completely finish the game. I have only mentioned stuff i am absolutely certain about currently)
Link and Zelda finding Ganondorf is different, instead of Rarus hand imprisoning him, its fragments of Sonia and her Time magic. Raru was killed instead of Sonia, his Stone stolen by Ganondorf. Sonia using her stone and time magic to seal herself and Ganondorf in a bubble of frozen time.
Link gets sent to the past instead of Zelda, he was the one to end up falling instead. The Sonias Zonai stone ending up on his person during the chaos of the fall. Zelda while trying to catch Link and ends up grabbing the master sword instead, this is the moment Link teleports to the past and Zelda to the Sky islands
Links arm was still infected with gloom and needed to be amputated when he arrived in the past. The Zonai stone he arrived with helped keep the gloom at bay. Raru takes him under his wing due to his remarkable abilities in serving the light, and to help with the gloom infecting him. Sonia is impressed by his abilities in time magic as well, his flurry rush has a unique use of time magic.
Link doesn't immediately connect the dots of Ganondorf being the corpse that attacked him and Zelda. He does know he absolutely doesn't trust him. Ganondorf doesn't like Link either, mutual hatred for the other.
Before officially meeting Ganondorf, where he tries to brute force his way into taking over Hyrule, the battle goes differently. Instead of a beam of pure magic that nukes the Moldugas, due to not having Zelda around, with Links Zonai stone combined with a boost from Raru and Sonai. Link is able to destroy the Moldugas one by one at a fast pace, a super powered version of his flurry rush. This battle was much more close and Link was a last resort that Sonia suggested last second as a desperate measure. Her hope of powering up his flurry rush worked, she just wished she didn't have to put him in such harms way, however.
Raru is dead, the sages have fallen, Ganondorf is sealed away thanks to Sonia but that's only temporary. Link is at the temple of time, a tale as old as time, he's hoping for an answer, he gets one. Through the sands of time he and Zelda unknowingly briefly connect, Zelda sending not only the master sword but a large portion of her powers of light to him. He briefly remembers that the master sword can heal any damage done to it over time if the holy power is strong enough. He remembers what he was told about Zonai stones and the sacred dragons.
Link turns into a sacred dragon so he can heal the master sword and arrive in the future. Although he isn't a dragon of light like Zelda would have been. He's the dragon of time. A large green dragon that can be seen entering and exiting portals from different eras of time ever since his ascension into the dragon of time. Is the one you're approaching the correct version of him? Will it be the one where the sword is healed or still healing? His golden mane seems to be made of sand. His tears leave behind Sundilions instead of silent princesses. He has one less legs than the other dragons. Zelda feels safer around this dragon and he wonders why. She figures out why when he finds all the dragons tears.
Zelda wakes up at the sky islands, and is led by Sonia. Much like how Link was led by Raru. With Zelda being the mortal goddess and not infected by gloom, he is not restricted by the door of the temple of time like link would have been. Giving the sword and a portion of her powers to link through a hole in time. Now being weaker due to him sacrificing most of his powers to heal the master sword, Sonia guides her to shrines on the islands to help rebuild her strength.
Due to Zelda being distantly related to Sonia and his status as mortal goddess even if she has been weakened, she is able to open the shrines and use anything with the Zonai symbols on them. His reason for going to shrines is to strengthen her powers over light again after giving most of it to Link through time for the purpose of healing the master sword.
I don't think Zelda would fight with a sword or similar weapons. I think he would like bows and magic based weapons and attacks. Distance is her friend, although I doubt you want to be hit full force at close range by his powers even when she's weakened. He's a force to be reckoned with. He's the descendant of a goddess for Pete's sake.
Zelda would love exploring the skies and the depths.
The dragons of times portal ls only work for him. Although you can look through them and see the different eras he's traveling from or to. There are three noticeably different dragons of time, all based on how much the master sword has healed. The first one where he's basically just turned into a dragon and the sword is still heavily damaged. The second one where he's right in the middle of the past and present, the master sword is noticeably still damaged but on its way to being healed. And the third one where it's the most recent version of himself, the master sword is completely healed. But all three can travel through time, and you won't know which version of him it is until you check the master sword. If you try and pull one of the still damaged swords you will be flung into the nearby skies. A good way to get to higher sky islands.
I wouldn't be surprised if Zelda disquises herself, feeling like he can't completely be there for her kingdom without Link. Plus i think Ganon and the Yiga would be more aggressive at hunting him down. Zelda's also never got to try out fully being a him before being a princess and all. Sheik time. I like gender fluid Zelda. Why not both gender? Also Sheik gets to be included, everybody loves Sheik
Some things I haven't added because I would need time to figure it out and write it down. Like Links growing relationships with Raru and Sonai, Mineru, how the final battle goes before and when Sonai seals Ganon, ect. The more dialog heavy story bits mostly.

i've had yet another thought! this one regarding Kei's fuinjutsu.
it occurred to me that while the Bats have some impressive gear protecting them from Most of the threats they face, they got jack shit capable of protecting their squishy bodies from hostile bijuu chakra on the off-chance they come into physical contact with it.
i figure the Bats primary objective when facing an angry jinchuriki is something like "Let Genbu and/or a Super handle it, stay out of range, focus on civilians, etc etc", but as with any fight, shit happens, and a squishy Bat might get got.
so i'm wondering, would Kei be able to put seals on their armor to give it some chakra resistance? i don't actually remember if this is something seals can do, tbh, like using them to "enchant" armor lol, and idk if Kei would have dabbled in that area of fuinjutsu.
but now that Naruto's been yoinked into this world, Kei would figure pretty quickly that jinchuriki were being targeted, and maybe start panicking over the possibility of even more jinchuriki wreaking havoc. and bubbling the Bats every time they get too close might not be too feasible if they're all determined to pitch in.
so i can imagine her scribbling drafts of "armor enchantments" or something like that. is that something she could/would do? oooor would the inert chakra in the seals put more of a target on anyone wearing it?
(also, sorry if i keep spamming your inbox, both of your CYB/Batman crossovers are just incredible and make me wanna rotate all the details and "what ifs" in my head like a rotisserie chicken 😂)
I, ah, couldn't quite figure out how to give a response to some of this without feeling like I smacked straight into spoiler territory, so it's kinda been a few months since this was sent in thanks to the power of writer's block. Whoops.
For the most part, the Bats are entirely willing to get into scraps even with people who thoroughly outmatch them physically, because those opponents almost never have the skill or cunning to really get around the tools a whole clan of detectives prefers. They probably shouldn't, but if these people ever operated solely what was sensible, there wouldn't be a Batman at all.
That said, magical equipment would be nice. Kei hasn't yet figured out the trick to making her more complicated fuinjutsu compatible with them, though. Most of them either need asource of chakra to prime it (barriers, etc.) or an ignition source (bombs), so she's gotta do more weapons' development. She's putting it off a bit until she can work more with Isobu's coral, which can at least do one of those things.
Kei hasn't had enough time to dig through the investigation, but there is a specific suspect for the summoning situation. The Justice League has already run into evidence of the other bullshit the problematic party gets up to, but they haven't got a solid name or location yet.

Same girl from the last ask! Thank you for answering! You don’t need to answer this one btw, just wanted to share a thought.
I kind of forgot about the ring because he doesn’t show up a lot, but maybe the ring is what causes the time loop? Like when the time comes when she turns, it sends her back as a form of protection or maybe at the end it amplifies Taiga luck and just go “nah, this version of reality is awful let’s jump for the next one buddies”.
Orrrrr maybe, it might be both of things? Like the monster that sealed her fate is very smart and strong, so MC might end up becoming self-aware enough that she can maybe use the ring with a better understanding of how it works.
There is no need for a reply since this has no base at all and I’m just having fun writing this lmao, thanks!!
I think the Kyklos is what causes the time loop, or at least it's heavily interconnected! "Kyklos", if I remember right, means circle or cycle and is actually what some ancient Greeks called cycles of government in society/history! Combine that with that we have the houses of Ultio("venegence") and Clementia("clemency", "mercy"), two goddesses associated with Roman cultural values and the ways that emperors are expected to run their states, both of which are now defunct(one experiencing a death which resulted in a major conflict) and I have much more reason to believe the Kyklos itself ties in to the potential time loops than the ring.
I think the ring is a newer aspect in the cycles(or at least it's changed from previous cycles) to protect the PC--the champion--and to help the ghouls protect her(by buffing their stigmas) and protect everyone against the impending calamity. Maybe in the past she kept dying and since she kept dying(removing the champion from the island) the loop tried to figure out ways to keep her alive.
As for Taiga I think his stigma involves seeing the future, but since we also saw the scene where he said that the outcome Haru was asking him about would differ based on the coin flip, I wonder if he can change it some too(or at least be told the future based on something random like a roll of dice or a coinflip.)
If Taiga can change the future(I believe his line if you lose an arena battle suggests that he can but it's difficult, something to the effect of "it seems like it couldn't be changed easily" compared to his winning line which is more to the effect of "ah, knew that'd happen"--don't quote me on either of those i'm going off of memory lol) or reset the cycle or something similar it'd be interesting if that's why he eas sent after the Kyklos. They expected him to just. . .reset things until he successfully stopped it. But he didn't care to. What's the point when the futures he see are all bad? May as well let it play out on its own. Some tiny spark of hope that things can be changed further down the line rather than at their source--not that it's worked any other time, but he's not dead yet so maybe he sees some hope in it still. . . . Or y'know he doesn't wanna leave Romeo behind to suffer alone lol
The ring is a reference to the ring of Solomon, who made a pact with all of the demons that the ghouls' stigmas' incantations are anagrams of--that'd be a totally different mythological field, but it wouldn't be any surprise for things to overlap. I imagine the ring won't care for her when she turns though--it won't see her as able to save the world or influence the ghouls safely, or perhaps it won't see her as needing protection--and it'll come off or abandon her or something. She won't be herself, she'll no longer be the champion maybe. Or maybe it'll stay on and try and help her or exert some kind of power to get the ghouls to help her. . . .
Definitely a lot of speculation but that's kind of what's fun about it all to me, I agree!! 'u'

yknow I complain at least once a month about not being able to find any non-toxic mephilver but maybe I should actually be yapping about that instead of complaining and doing nothing
somehow, it took me this long for my dumb ass to realise that maybe part of the reason there's none of it is because I'm either the only one or one of very few whose imagination is geared towards it right now. To that end... I should probably do some yappin' on how I see it working. (This is assuming it's reciprocated lol 😂 this ship has enough angsty writers already as im preeeetty sure I've pointed out). Anyway I'm not coherent enough to write a post so this is gonna be a little weirdly written but hey we ball.
ok, so in a story sense- at least for the games- there's two ways I see this happening. The first is a divergent 06 in which Mephiles and Silver get more time to interact and it's a tentative allies to friends to lovers situation. This kind of a route would likely have Silver figuring out what's up with Meph and the real situation behind all the fuckery everyone's pulling, and steers him off the murder path and onto a better ending that would theoretically lead to ally meph and/or a reunited Solaris. (Technically making the ship Solaris/Silver, but since Mephiles is the mind and heart, there's not much of a difference in that regard.) essentially, a canon divergence where Silver figures out Mephiles is lying, steers him onto a different path, and they friends-to-lovers their way into ship territory.
The other pathway is a little more complicated, but it's one I've been toying with. This is post-06, and deals with the idea that Silver goes back to the White Space somehow (either via the Time Stones, any leftover power from the Time Eater Eggman has, or some other way) and gets Meph out of there himself. This pathway requires Silver remembering 06, knowing Mephiles is in the White Space, and having the emotional maturity to look back on it and realise Mephiles' punishment is too harsh for his goals. Whether he knows that Iblis is (probably) sealed in Blaze is up to you, he might he might not. Regardless, this path changes Meph a bit- being sealed in the White Space for 5 years at a minimum (probably idk how the timeline works) fucks you up major, so you have a bit (a lot) of slow-burn-heal-arc shit to do before anything starts happening. From there, though, I see it as a warm slow roommates-to-lovers type beat where they're both just kinda trying to live their lives amid time being fucked up and evil and a disaster every five minutes.
Obviously you can also work with it in other AUs or just disregard story entirely and create small sweet pockets of story where they're together and fuck the logistics, which is essentially what I do 90% of the time. It works pretty well with modern AUs in my experience, and serves as a cute sister ship to Sonadow!
Dynamic-wise, which is probably what I should've led with but here we are, I like to think of a fluffy version of the ship as being very soft and comfortable with each other. They're on their guard pretty much 100% of the time, so the moments they get alone with each other are that time to drop it and relax. Between Silver having to save the future all the time and Mephiles trying to find Iblis and reunite, they're both stressed a lot, so they lean on each other. I like to think they go on adventures together...
I wrote once in a document for an au that Silver has a lot of love to give and Mephiles needs to be given a lot, which is the best way I can describe the dynamic simply. To extend on that and explain it a little more, Silver gives a lot of love obviously. He takes less than he gives, but he'll take his boyfriend's love with just as much care as he gives his own. Mephiles, on the other hand, is more subtle. He takes all the love Silver gives, but he shows reciprocation in all the small ways that are hard to notice if you're not Silver himself. He gives less than he takes by nature, but when he does give it's always exactly what Silver needs and he knows it. They're a very synergetic pair, if that makes any sense. The type to cuddle up and take naps together.
There's a lot of room for headcanon, too- I mess with the idea a lot that Mephiles radiates heat (he's still a part of the sun god) and that leads to some fun conclusions. Alternatively, there's also room for some angst (because Chaos forbid I follow my own rules on a post). Anyone else seen that dynamic of a god falling in love with a mortal and struggling with the implications and the fact that they're not supposed to fall for mortals but here they are? Yeah. That's fuckin DELICIOUS when it's applied to a split god like Mephiles who's technically supposed to be spending his time looking for Iblis and reuniting instead of falling for someone he doesn't think he deserves. Especially if you apply the idea that he's mentally assumed his life is on hold until he finds Iblis (that is not how it works) and now he's in love by accident.
Anyway yeah that's uh. That's my rambling. 👍 If anyone has other ideas for fluffy mephilver do tell

I remember in one of your post on how you made quirks, to never disregard an idea for someone ability, but with how unique the abilities are. Instead of simply making manipulation or project of elements powers. Is there any other tips or ways that help you make your character powers? Love your work and powers!
First of all thank-you so much ;__; I'm glad you get a kick out of my unhinged ramblings! Hmmm I guess my only tip besides what I outlined is just be curious about things even if you think they wont serve you now. I have an unfathomably short attention span so perhaps this is easier said than done for some folk, but I think an example I'll run with is very silly way I came up with a character last night~ I had a part in my story that I needed some sort of underground doctor for, Garrote nearly dies in a fight against Ren and gets a big ol hole in his chest, and its pretty hard to fix a giant hole in the chest, especially for such a big patchwork guy. Every time I have sat down to formally try and figure out what kind of character should be there I have failed. But last night I was running the scene through my head since I thought about making a few panel comic about it and I just saw a girl character eating a burger sitting at the edge of the tub while healing Garrote, and I was like "Well that's weird, but kinda funny, I like that, how can I make that work?"
and so then I was like "well it'd be great if she could create flesh...so her power should be some sort of regeneration power, but how can she just MAKE flesh and vasculature systems? and then my brain went back to the burger and was like "well...burger is technically flesh...wait" and then googled up how the body goes about filling holes when it's healing, i.e reconnecting its vasculature system and creating a matrix of cells for the flesh to basically seal back together, and so I decided that her power would be that when she eats flesh, she's able to create extracellular matrix in others and heal/regenerate their wounds.
I ended up thinking it was really funny and weird, and so then was like "well how do I nerf the fact that she could just buy like 12 McDondalds dollar menu hamburgers and heal a small army, which is when I thought "well, burgers are beef/pork/chicken, that kind of flesh while similar, is probably not good for intensely life threatening injuries like Ivan has, and it feels like it would more or less just be a patch job for things like stabs/bullet wounds. So then I had the horrible idea that she'd have to take in human flesh to resuscitate someone who was that far gone already, to be able to reform all of the complex structure of the actual human body, kind of like how some people can get flesh/organ transplants from animals, but they aren't quite a one-to-one match and can cause issues. (pretty sure I learned that fact from some weird facebook post and googled it after to see if that actually happened)
So I ended up making her villain name Cannibal Matrix (Or Hanibelle Matrix, haven't decided which yet, second one is funnier but time will tell) All of this process happened within about 15 minutes or so I guess the TLDR is, everyone's brains work in a specific way, if I fight the way my brain enjoys expressing itself, it usually just leads to me coming up with nothing and to myself getting frustrated. I think there is merit to sitting down formally and telling yourself that you're gunna come up with something in one sitting, but I think 90% of my ideas come when I am doing other things and my brain is just wandering around thinking about whatever.
I think though if I think about it further, imagining the scene itself helped form the character that needed to be there for me, the rest I sort of just happened to fall into place, so spend some time actually imagining interactions between your characters, your brain might fill in the spaces all on its own~ Expose yourself to lots of art and music, and weird facts about the world, fill the well your brain has to pull from when it comes to drawing inspiration to make something new~

(If TGAMM had Amphibia’s plot): Seeing posts about this, I’m quite intrigued. I do have two questions, though:
1. When Molly, Libby and Andrea first become ghosts, do any of them immediately assume they’re dead, and if so, for how long?
2. If Jinx and the Chairman are still the Big Bads here, how do their roles play out in this AU?
So to answer the first question, I need to clarify once again–because of how this AU’s Calamity Box works, anyone who gets sent to the ghost world is turned into a ghost, but they are still alive. However, in order to be part of a Calmity Trio and obtain the powers, you DO need three people.
Anyway, the girls all assume that they are dead at first, but that length of time varies with each girl-
-Andrea assumed she was dead the longest. She got to a point where she just accepted that was what happened and tried to make the best of her new ‘afterlife.’ Though she does secretly miss her parents even if she doesn’t show it that much. She doesn’t realize that she’s actually still alive until she reunites with one of the other girls (haven’t figured out if it’s just Molly or both Molly and Libby, because Molly and Libby reunite, only to get separated once more before we get to the capital/‘season 2’ stuff.)
-Libby was the second longest since she was on her own for a long time, and she was upset about leaving her mom alone. When she explained things to The Traveler/Adia upon meeting her, Adia–who had been doing her research about the box–was quick to assure Libby that she’s still alive. However, if the box sent her and two others, then that might complicate things…
-Molly was the quickest to discover her actual fate because a part of her was optimistic that she couldn’t have died that easily. What proved it? Well, during the first few days she met Scratch, she tried to get him out of a tricky situation and momentarily tapped into her powers as the Heart part of the trio–which also was able to briefly turn her back into a human for a super brief time. (This is a nod to that ‘it wasn’t an error regarding the eyes’ in the first Amphibia episode). This cues her in on the fact that she and the others are actually still alive.
(I also want to add something in case this raises curiosity since I mentioned Adia and Scratch has experience with the box. She found it during her travels and despite several warnings, she took it to Brighton to show Scratch and then things went horribly wrong. Since there wasn’t a third person, they didn’t get the powers. Adia doesn’t assume that she’s dead, based on her research, and her determination to ‘right the wrongs’ is what’s motivating her to find the box. Meanwhile Scratch assumed the worst and was resigned to his fate until he found out that Molly was still alive, which had to mean that he was still alive as well, though it would take awhile before he knows for sure that he DOES want his life back. I imagine Adia would have been aligned with Wit and Scratch would have been aligned with Heart if he wasn’t such a ball of anxiety and depression at the time.)
2. Oh this took a while to figure out, but I do see Jinx and The Chairman as the Andrias and Core equivalents.
See, the previous Calamity Trio were the ones who defeated The Chairman and imprisoned him in such a way that you need the powers of the Trio to free him–in fact, you might need all three. As a final precaution, the box was sent somewhere to the Living World and the barriers between worlds was sealed to keep any ghosts from trying to find it. Over time, the box became a legend and while the ghosts were happy to be free from The Chairman, they were a bit bummed out that they could never revisit the Living World.
Jinx–a loyal follower of The Chairman as per usual–was none too happy for a long time. However, when she found out through Andrea about the Calamity Box and Molly and Libby, she realized it was likely the box returned to the Ghost World. The council were none too pleased about this and wanted the box destroyed (and sent others after it). Jinx secretly played Andrea like a fiddle–tell her to let her friends find the box and bring it to the captial so that all three of them could go home. And because everyone else had their reasons to find the box, they didn’t realize something was wrong until it was too late, when Jinx had the box in her posession.
Though she made the dumbass mistake of harming a lot of people Molly cared about–especially Scratch. And this activated Molly’s powers long enough to face off against Jinx who quickly realized just how much of a threat Molly–and the other girls–could be.
While Jinx was able to keep the box, she wasn’t too keen on letting the girls or Adia and Scratch leave and tried to prevent them from escaping. While she was able to capture Andrea, Scratch and Molly were able to escape back to the Living World–Libby and Adia would have gone with them, had they not been stopped/pulled away in the last few moments. And as a final attempt at a ‘screw you’ Jinx tries to attack Scratch again in some fashion, and this is what ends up causing him to have the problem of having his soul too easily detachable from his human body upon returning to the living world.
Jinx does succeed in freeing the Chairman, but he has to possess Andrea since he is currently too weak to regain his form and full power. Though his return is also what starts to weaken the barriers between the Living and Ghost Worlds.

Journey to the West Chapter 17
Tripitaka being waited on hand and foot by a bunch of monks who are forced to under threat of death:
Tumblr media
In this chapter of Journey to the West with @journeythroughjourneytothewest we get to find out how Sun Wukong managed to get the Cassock back. So let's get into it shall we?
So Sun Wukong takes off with his cloud somersault, terrifying all the monks even further with this show of power. While Tripitaka makes it even worse by saying they better hope he finds that cassock otherwise he'll definitely kill them all out of frustration. Which I find both petty and hilarious of him.
So Sun Wukong arrives at Black Wind Mountain, and hears some voices nearby, so he hides himself nearby in order to eavesdrop on them. The people in question are three monsters and are discussing Daoism and such when one of them chimes in that it's his birthday the day after tomorrow and asks if his two buddies will pay him a visit then. One says 'Of course we'll come, we come every year' before finally getting into the topic of conversation Monkey wants to hear and mentioning the cassock. The Great King says that he came across a beautiful cassock yesterday and is going to use it to enhance his birthday by throwing a huge banquet and inviting all their Daoist friends to come celebrate what he plans to call 'the party the Festival of the Buddha Robe."
Upon hearing this Monkey leaps out from his hiding place and starts yelling at them that he stole his cassock and to give it back. And before they can even say anything Monkey kills one of them, while the other two escape. Monkey see's that the scholar he killed had turned into a a white spotted snake, so he breaks it into pieces before continuing to look for the ones who got away. So I guess I get to add desecrating corpses to Sun Wukong's crime list.
So Monkey finds his way to Black Wind Cave, which is sealed by two stone doors. So Sun Wukong starts banging on the door demanding that they open up until a little demon comes out and demands to know why he is beating at their immortal cave. Sun Wukong with his 5 levels of immortality takes offense to their use of the word immortal, and demands that the little demon tell The Great King to return his Cassock if he wants Sun Wukong to spare all of their lives.
The Great King having just got back from being chased by Monkey, gets dressed into his armor and then goes outside to meet him. So the two have a chat where they talk about how The Great King stole the cassock, and Monkey tells him his entire backstory. The Great King laughs at him and calls him BanHorsePlague, which Monkey takes offense to, so the two start to fight.
After fighting for a while the demon calls for a lunch break. Which Monkey thinks is very weak of him, since Monkey himself spent 500 years under a mountain eating nothing but iron pellets and molten copper. Nevertheless however, the monster seals himself back into his cave for to eat. Not having any luck breaking down the door to continue the fight, Monkey figures he may as well take this chance to check in on Tripitaka.
So Monkey returns to find that the monks have been taking good care of Tripitaka like he told them to, almost to good to be honest since they seem to be working themselves in a frenzy. Still, Monkey briefs Tripitaka on the current situation, and the monks are super relieved that they aren't at fault for the missing cassock. But Monkey tells them they aren't out of the woods yet, and that he may still kill them if they slack in Tripitaka's care at all until he manages to get the cassock back, and he asks them if they've been caring for Tripitaka well enough. Tripitaka says that he has already had two meals and been served tea three times even though Monkey has only been gone for a few hours. Which I think Tripitaka might be enjoying his scary dog privileges a little to much this chapter. Anyways while they are chatting they are served yet another meal, so Monkey eats some lunch before taking off again.
On his way Monkey see's a demon carrying a fancy box traveling on the main road. Curious about what's in the box, Monkey kills the demon, and throws their body to the side of the road before opening the box and finding an invitation inside. Monkey finds out that the Patriarch Monk that had killed himself last chapter was friends with his current demon problem, and that's how he learned to live for such a long time. And since the letter is inviting the monk to visit, Monkey disguises himself as that monk in order to steal back the cassock.
So Monkey disguises himself as the old monk, but the demon is suspicious on how the monk could have gotten here so fast, so he orders his minions to hide the cassock. So Sun Wukong and the Great King sit down and have some tea together, while discussing how the Great King came to possess the cassock when Sun Wukong's cover is blown by the body of that messenger Sun Wukong beat to death being discovered. So the two start fighting again, and are pretty evenly matched, before once again the Great King calls for a time out because it's past his bedtime and he wants to go to bed. So he flee's and locks himself into his cave again. So Sun Wukong decides he should take this opportunity to report in with his parole officer again.
So Sun Wukong once again briefs Tripitaka on the situation and admits that they are about evenly matched. Tripitaka reads the invitation slip and asks the monks if their master was also a monster, which the monks deny, and Sun Wukong also vouches for them saying the monks here aren't monsters. They also discuss that the Great King was a black bear who cultivated to become an immortal. Tripitaka asks how a beast could become a spirit, and Sun Wukong points out that he is also a beast who became the Great Sage Equal to Heaven. Tripitaka then asks how he's going to get the cassock back when they are so evenly matched, and Monkey says to lay off it and that he has it under control.
So Sun Wukong has another meal at the monastery and spends the night, but when morning comes Tripitaka tells him to go get the cassock. So Sun Wukong goes to leave with one last reminder to all of the monks to continue taking care of Tripitaka. Tripitaka then asks Monkey where he's going to go, and Monkey says he'll go give Guanyin a little visit, since in a way this whole situation is her fault for letting a monster live around one of her temples.
So Sun Wukong arrives and Guanyin's home and has someone announce his presence. Anyways Monkey tells Guanyin that he's come tot ask her to get back the cassock for him since she's the one who let a monster live by one of her Chan halls. Guanyin points out that this whole situation is his fault for both showing off the cassock, and for using wind to intensify the fire. Monkey realizing that Guanyin is well aware of all his shenanigans becomes much more polite in asking for her help. Guanyin agrees to help for Tripitaka's sake, and the two head off.
On the way there they see a Daoist coming down the mountain holding a tray with two magic pills. So Sun Wukong does the logical thing and smashes his brains in right in front of Guanyin. Guanyin of course isn't to happy about this before Monkey tells her that he is one of the Black Bear Spirits friends. Luckily for Monkey, the body turned into a gray wolf. Also upon seeing the pills Monkey comes up with a plan.
So Monkey has Guanyin transform into the Daoist while Monkey transforms into one of the pills. So Guanyin offers the demon the monkey disguised pill- which he takes, and probably immediately regrets his life choices as Sun Wukong then transforms into his original form to beat him up from the inside. Guanyin then reveals her true from and finds the cassock while Sun Wukong exits the monster via their nose. Guanyin however decides to take this opportunity to get a new servant, so she throws a fillet onto his head. And when the Monster goes to lunge at monkey she recites a spell, that's different from Monkey's tight fillet spell, but still has the same result as the monster begins to roll around in agony while Sun Wukong points and laughs.
So Guanyin tells Sun Wukong not to kill the demon because she wants to have him guard the back entrance of her Mountain. So the two go their seperate ways, Sun Wukong with the cassock, and Guanyin with the Black Bear Spirit. And that ends this chapter of Journey to the West!

House of Earth and Blood Chapters 65-67
We have more uber-short fake-tension chapters. On the one hand I'm mad because the tension is fake, but on the other hand I'm glad because the chapters are short. There's no pleasing me, I guess.
Tharion and Bryce ride on a conveniently-quiet jet-ski towards the boat where the synth deal is happening.
Tharion’s body hummed, and the wave skimmer drifted forward, carried on a current of his own making. “Neat trick,” she murmured. “It always gets the ladies,” he muttered back.
I kinda want her to hook up with Tharion ngl. If only because he's not Hunt.
Apparently one of the figures on the boat is the Viper Queen. Given Bryce identifies her only by the fact (well, "fact") that wearing a purple raincoat is allegedly something only the Viper Queen would have the "swagger" for, though, I won't assume she's right just yet.
Anyway, the Viper Queen appears to be selling the synth. She's speaking to several shadowy figures whose faces Bryce can't see.
The tallest buyer didn’t reply. Just stiffly turned back to their companions, displeasure written in every movement as the firstlights illuminated the face beneath the hood. “Holy fuck,” Tharion whispered. Every thought eddied out of Bryce’s head. There was nothing left in her but roaring silence as Hunt’s face became clear.
Well. That's interesting. I mean, I'm 99.99% sure it's not going to actually be him, but still. Interesting.
Bryce rushes to the boat. Sorry, she "doesn't know how she ended up on the boat", but is now on the boat. Turns out it's not only Hunt, but his other work buddies too, or at least Viktoria and Justinian.
Bryce demands to know what's going on. But then, Micah rocks up with the rest of Hunt's coworkers and some other random angels, and they all point their weapons at Hunt and his companions. Apparently, the Viper Queen set them up.
The Viper Queen crossed her arms. “I knew it would be worth my while to see who came sniffing around for this shit when word leaked that I got my hands on a shipment,” she said, motioning toward the synth. Her smile was pure poison as she looked at Hunt. “I was hoping it’d be you, Umbra Mortis.”
Hunt insists that his synth-interest was only before he saw the videos, and that he tried to stop it this time, but "they" (presumably Viktoria and Justinian) wouldn't listen. The Viper Queen tells Bryce that Hunt and co thought the synth might be a shortcut to regaining their sealed power. Bryce doesn't believe her. But Micah assures her that it's true, and that Hunt and co actually found out about the synth days ago, and have been trying to purchase it ever since.
But Bryce just asked, “Days ago?” Silence. She said again, “You knew about the synth days ago?”
Actually, we've been in his head the whole time, haven't we? Was there actually anything that foreshadowed this and I just don't remember? Because if not, this is a massive, massive asspull. Don't make your POV characters ones you want to surprise us with.
Hunt explains that he learned of it from a couple of drug lords Micah sent him to kill. I vaguely remember something about that, but I'd have to go back and reread it to be sure, and I frankly can't be bothered. The book is long enough as it is.
“How.” [Bryce's] word cut through the rain. “How did it leak?” Hunt shook his head. “It doesn’t matter.” Micah said coldly, “Danika Fendyr.”
They tell her that Danika was both selling and using the synth.
Hunt said with a gentleness that decimated her, “Danika sold it, Bryce. It’s why she was spotted on that boat with the crate of it. I figured it out nearly a week ago. She stole the formula for it, sold the stock, and—” He stopped himself.
Really? Again, we've been in his head a lot despite my many, many requests to be free of him, and I don't remember seeing any of this "figuring out" taking place.
Hunt continues, telling Bryce that Danika definitely used the drug, and was using it the night she stole the horn - she's the one who killed "those CCU students" the night the horn was stolen.
.......ngl, I don't remember any dead CCU students. This book is too damn long.
Anyway, Danika and Maximus (the vampire) knew each other because of their synth addictions.
...I wonder if this means all the bodies they've been finding are synth addicts who ripped themselves apart?
Hunt asks Micah if he's going to be arrested now, but Micah insists he "tell Bryce the rest."
“Tell me what,” Bryce whispered. Tharion’s hands tightened on her arms in warning. “That he already knows the truth about Danika’s murder,” the Archangel said coldly. Bored. As if he’d done this a thousand times, in a thousand variations. As if he’d already guessed.
And yes, it seems Danika OD'd on synth, and killed the rest of the pack before killing herself.
“But the Horn—” “She must have stolen it just to piss off Sabine. And then probably sold it on the black market. It had nothing to do with any of this. It was always about the synth for her.” Micah cut in, “I have it on good authority that Danika stole footage of the synth trials from Redner’s lab.” “But the kristallos—”
No, I haven't omitted anything here. That's just how disjointed the conversation is. Ticking off plot points with no actual connective substance between replies. This is why this book is such a pain in the ass to summarise.
Apparently the kristallos has been appearing because of the black salt in the synth, and something about the synth's formula matches its "unholy number," whatever that means. The bottom line is someone taking synth sometimes randomly summons a kristallos demon.
Hunt tries to take a step towards Bryce, but then, suddenly, Fury appears! Remember her? She's holding a gun to Hunt's head. But then she puts the gun away and tells the Viper Queen to piss off, so idk.
Bryce understandably feels Very Betrayed by this turn of events.
“You knew, you knew, you knew!” He’d figured out the truth, and for nearly a week, he’d said nothing to her. Had let her go on and on about how much she loved her friend, how great Danika had been, and had led her in fucking circles.
At least this does make some of Hunt's more brainbreakingly stupid suggestions regarding the investigation a bit more understandable. But still, we were in his head while he was doing this and yet had no indication he was doing it on purpose. It's not foreshadowing at that point - it's cheating. If you're making your traitor a POV character, then you have to fucking commit. If you can't, then don't make them a POV character. Or at least not for the scenes where they're (meant to be) actively doing the traitoring.
Anyway, Hunt tries to beg for Bryce's forgiveness and insists that he's Changed, that she is his path now, that he was trying to stop the deal tonight, etc, etc. Bryce throws the gemstone he gave her at him.
Hurled it so hard it slammed into Hunt’s head. Blood flowed from his temple. As if the halo itself were bleeding.
Melodramatically, of course.
Hunt is handcuffed, and Fury tells them all to leave Bryce alone before she and Tharion escort Bryce away. And they ride off on jet skis, ignoring Hunt calling after her.
Fury drops her off at an unspecified apartment lobby (I assume it's hers) and leaves her in Ruhn's care.
Tharion left them at the docks, saying he was going to help haul in the seized synth shipment, and Fury departed fast enough that Bryce knew she was heading out to make sure the Viper Queen didn’t abscond with any of it, either.
Bryce, are you psychic? How do you know that that's the reason Fury left in a hurry? Maybe she suddenly remembered she left the oven on.
They arrive in Bryce's apartment, and she sees many signs of Hunt's presence, specifically the bloodstain on the couch. She throws up. I thought it had been a while since someone threw up.
Hunt must have known she was getting close to learning the truth when she’d shown him the trial videos. So he’d spun her lies about a happy ending for the two of them, a future for them, had distracted her with his mouth and hands.
You know what would have been nice? Having any indication from Hunt that this was happening. We were inside his damn head at the time. And yes, I know I flagged his "afterward" thing as manipulation. That's not the issue. My main complaint here is that the book can't commit to the kind of POV it wants to write, and instead of working within the constraints of the narration style it chose, it randomly switches and omits stuff to trick us. Sometimes, we're right in Hunt and Bryce's heads and get everything about their motivations - and then, in cases like this, we don't. We just get narration of the actions (like in a more distant POV style) and infer the motivation based on what we know of the characters. If the POVs had always been like that, this would be 100% fine and actually a pretty cool reveal. As it is, it's not, because the book flip-flops between letting us expressly hear motivations in POVs (in excruciating and insulting levels of detail, sometimes) and then hiding them from us.
That being said, I'm not quite as mad about it as I probably sound. I've flagged a few times with Hunt's behaviour where he wouldn't necessarily see it as abusive from his own perspective, and in retrospect that's actually quite clever showing on the book's part... or at least, it would be if it was intentional (which I'm not convinced it is) and if there was any consistency to it. If Bryce's reactions to Hunt's domineering behaviour were more consistent throughout the book, for example. As it is, it's hard to really call it deliberate foreshadowing, because it's impossible to tell if it was done on purpose or if it's a happy accident because the book just legitimately has no clue what constitutes abusive behaviour.
Oh, also, Hunt burned down her old flat. Cool. It was random then and it's random now, so I don't really care.
Bryce says she doesn't believe that Hunt really wanted to back out of the deal, and then angsts about Danika, and how she actually probably is (un?)living in shame in the Bone Quarter, given she's actually a drug-addled murderer.
Fury returns, and she and Ruhn chat in the kitchen about what happened to the traitor triarii. Apparently Justinian got crucified, Viktoria got her essence ripped out and shoved in a box, but nothing has happened to Hunt yet, because Micah is planning something Even Worse for him. Uh huh. We'll see.
.......now, that's the end of the chapter, and the next chapter starts part four of the story, The Ravine. I'm a little worried about where this might go, because we're only ~75% of the way through the book. In standard story structure, this is where the protagonist has their darkest moment (which seems to have happened to Bryce), and must rally themselves and/or others to lead us into the climax and strike back against the Big Bad. Only... there is no Big Bad anymore. The truth is revealed, Hunt betrayed her and has been arrested. But, as it stands... the only immediately obvious path forward is saving Hunt from whatever Even Worse thing Micah has planned for him. Which... ew. I don't want Bryce to do that. And I want to read whatever creepy-ass justifications she'll use to talk herself into doing it even less.
Ah well. No way to find out but to keep reading. Pray for me.

in othello au, how do the hamato turtles come in? whats the connection between donnie and othello? why would draxum even mutate them if he doesnt want to destroy humanity like he does in canon?
oh- did othello, like, die, and the turtles were draxum's attempt at resurrecting his father figure, maybe with big mama's help? and he thought the experiment was a failure but donnie really is othello's reincarnation?
Another I forgot I posted about. Shame on me, shame on me.
To start off, Draxum only mutated three turtles, the experiment not even originally his idea, and Othello is very much alive, just not Othello. ^ ^
Othello was essentially kicked out of the Hamato clan after Karai was sealed and cursed to never return meant he was still basically a child growing up on his own.
This, of course, led to less-than-ideal conditions. So Othello deals with the grief of losing Karai, betrayal of the ancestors, struggling and fighting to survive, and being hunted by most who saw him. Which led to him being a very large and angry yokai as he grew up.
Othello, to Yokai, is a name that's feared by many, and for a good reason. He lashed out and had a bit of a villain phase in his teenage and young adult years.
He only stopped when he caught his reflection once mid-crime. He saw what he was letting himself turn into and thought, "If Karai saw me like this, she'd be so disappointed."
He still does a bit of crime on the side, but nothing that might get anyone other than himself hurt.
Othello was still very lonely though. Even among yokai, there were none quite like him. So he came up with the idea to try to make more like him. He spent decades researching, building equipment, and creating notes for possible formulas.
His experiments got put on hold, though, when Draxum showed up. The child needed not only to be taught but cared for.
Then there was Big Mama. Meeting Guess and making his first friend. Creating Hueso Jr. Spending time at Hueso's shop pretending to be a normal elderly yokai, sometimes telling others "rumors" he heard about Othello" while trying not to laugh and Hueso's expression.
Othello eventually realized he didn't need it anymore.
Decades later Draxum finds it and asks about it. Othello explains it and that he no longer needs it.
Draxum wants to see his mentor's life's work completed. (Definitely not wanting to show off to his father figure.)
So he gathers materials, including turtles and a certain fighter that he stole from Big Mama like any sibling taking something from a sibling without permission because they wanted it.
Of course, things start going wrong, and the alarms have Othello rushing in to help. Othello trying to protect Draxum means going against a Hamato since Draxum was harming Lou, which the curse says is a no-no.
The curse is meant to lock away as much of Othello's strength and power as possible so he can be contained if not destroyed. Said curse has been building power for about five centuries and getting stronger as the Hamato family and number of ancestors grew.
With all the explosions, noises and lights, random chemicals flying everywhere, and stuff like that, no one sees what happens to Othello.
Draxum is so busy trying to find Othello in the lab, worried he's trapped under the rubble because he won't answer him; he doesn't notice Splinter leave with one extra turtle tot.
Afterward, Draxum can't find Othello anywhere. Probably nothing left from the explosions and chemicals eating away at him.
Instead of admitting his own fault in what happened, he blames Lou and humans for taking away another patent from him. His goal to end humanity has restarted. Without Othello, no one can talk him out of it this time.

Chapter 13 - Project Thrips
chapter word count: 2.5k words
~4 Months before Present Day~
~Emilia's POV~
"After many months of excessive planning, we are finally ready to execute the mission." Chan spoke firmly.
"Wait," Momo intervened. "you aren't talking about-"
"Project Thrips." Seungmin interrupted her.
The whole table grew quiet.
"Are you sure, Chris?" Hyo asked, uncertain.
"It is time. Any more waiting would be unwise... we must act before Shade's knowledge on the Scarlet Rose Mafia becomes outdated." Chan assured everyone with a nod.
"Mhm." I added. "Besides, it's the perfect chance. A big event is coming up, Boss has been talking about it for years before I left. So religiously, I even memorised the date. That's when we have to go."
"Using Shade's knowledge, I was able to recreate a map of the Rose Manor." Seungmin continued.
"Let's just hope her memory's not as bad as her body combat skills." Changbin chuckled.
"It isn't! I lived there my whole life, after all." I retorted, playfully smacking his arm. "Wait, did you just say my fighting skills are-"
"Chan will bore you all with the details in a minute," Seungmin cut me off and continued explaining. "but for now, I want everyone to memorise this perfectly. Shade and I tried to figure out where secret passages might be, but we can't be sure, so the overall layout of the house must be known by each of you."
"Then," Chan clapped once, getting everyone's attention. "This is by far the most important mission we've ever had. Hopefully, in four months' time, The Scarlet Rose will be completely eradicated. We will first come for their boss, then we'll strike them all when they're down and mourning. For this mission, all of us must train vigorously."
"So, what's the plan, Leader?" Minho smirked impatiently. "How're we gonna take the rats down?"
"First of all, the teams. We will split up in a few groups, as follows: Shade and Felix will be Team 1, Changbin and me will be Team 2 and Minho will be going alone, since he's the best when it comes to sneaking."
"Fucking cat, I tell you." I spoke bitterly, a tint of joking in my tone, and watched Lee Know smirk proudly.
"Seungmin will be staying outside on Side A with Jisung; they will help with communication. Jeongin will be there as well, in case of a medical emergency."
Everyone nodded.
"For the gun supply, Hyo will join Team 1, Momo will join Team 2. Both of you have to make sure the weapons work as intended, carry the needed ammunition and just do your magic since you're the gun experts."
"Then... what about me?" Hyunjin questioned.
"You... will have the most important part." I looked at him, before throwing Chan a glance to ask for his permission to speak.
He granted it quickly, so I began explaining:
"As I was saying... a big Event is coming up for the Scarlet Mafia. We will be able to infiltrate with relative ease thanks to this Event, a big party that should seal a powerful deal between my former Boss and a big drug lord of the East. Negotiations have been going on for a long time, and they agreed on this particular date a few months before I came here."
"Okay, but... how does that concern me?" Hyunjin asked puzzled. "Don't tell me..."
"You will have to infiltrate the party and send us information about what is happening, so we know exactly how much time we have to infiltrate my former Boss' house, when he seals the deal and when he retreats to his chambers."
The whole room grew quiet.
"... damn." Hyunjin cursed. "That's..."
"Difficult, I know." Chan touched him on the shoulder apologetically.
"Not difficult... almost impossible. It's like a suicide mission." Hyunjin spat out.
"It won't be a suicide mission. They don't know your face. For all they know, you'll just be one of the servers hired for this." I looked him in the eyes, trying to put him at ease.
"Besides, we already arranged it with the catering company." Chan continued. "You've been working for them for 5 years, your best friend helped you get hired and the boss loves you."
"A whole backstory? I'm impressed." The corners of Hyunjin's mouth pointed upwards.
"It was all Jisung." Chan pointed out. "So, all clear? Let's recap: Shade, Felix and Hyo are Team 1; I, Changbin and Momo are Team 2; Minho goes alone; Jisung, Jeongin and Seungmin will be outside, and Hyunjin will be our informant inside the manor."
"Great, let's do this!" Jisung exclaimed excitedly.
"Ah, one more thing." Chan added. "This mission is first come first serve. That means, whoever finds the bastard first, gets to kill him."
"Good to know. I hope he'll get to meet my bullet." Minho smirked.
"Good. Then, let's start preparing. We only have 4 months."
~
~Two months before Present Day~
"TO YOUR RIGHT!" Hyo screamed while running, just as Felix approached me from my right side and landed a powerful blow in my lower stomach.
"You didn't get it, again." He replied sternly, frowning.
"Fuck, I'm so bad at this." I cursed, holding on my abdomen and looking down, tears pricking my eyes.
"It would be best to take a break, what do you say?" Hyo approached me and put her hand on my shoulder soothingly.
"I'm just so frustrated! Why can't I get this right?" I replied defeated.
"You will! There's two more months, okay? We'll do it!!!" She tried encouraging me with a smile, making me feel a bit less tense than before.
"Okay... yea... let's take a break, then." I looked at Felix, who nodded approvingly.
Walking with Hyo through the garden, we reached Hyunjin's greenhouse.
"Wanna take a peak inside?" she asked, raising her eyebrows at me expectedly.
"Sure! I do have a key, actually."
"Oh wow, Hyunjin let you keep it for some time, no?"
"He did" I chuckled. "At this point I think he forgot about it."
"Nah, he never does. He probably thinks you didn't show it to the relevant people yet, if you finished the painting already." Hyo smiled.
"I mean... Chris didn't see it yet." I chuckled again.
"Why not?"
"I don't know... I want to show it to him, and I will, of course. Just... it's not the time yet, you feel me?"
"I see... I only showed mine to him and Minho. They are really good listeners." She chuckled. "Do you wanna see it too?"
"If... if you want me to." I smiled kindly.
Since these pictures represented our souls, showing and explaining them to someone else felt like a pretty big deal. Intrusive. I was happy to know that Hyo trusted me enough to show me hers.
We entered the greenhouse, and she went straight for a covered canvas in the back, uncovering it.
The image represented was a painting two women playing on the ground with a baby.
"This is me." She pointed to one of the women in the paintings. "And this... is my best friend... her name was Hanna. She passed a few years ago..." she smiled sadly.
"I'm really sorry to hear... and the baby?"
"This was just me mourning what I can never have back." Her smile turned bitter. "We had a big mission about four years ago, where I had to be kidnapped by some drug lord in order for SKZ to find their location. It was pretty similar to the one you had with the Knife Devils, actually. The problem was... we didn't have half the equipment we have now, so they detected the tracking device quickly, and punished me for that."
She inhaled deeply. I grabbed her hand, sensing that it was becoming difficult to talk.
"I was... tortured, raped... every day, for a whole month... and by the end of it, when Chris and the boys finally found me... I was damaged beyond repair. They stole from me the most important thing- what I wanted the most... the ability to become a mother." A single tear fell on her cheek, but she was quick to wipe it off.
"Hyo, I... I'm really sorry..." I hugged her side, feeling my eyes swell up with tears as well.
"No, Emi, I am the one who's sorry. After what happened to me, I wanted you to go to that mission, just so you can get as hurt as me. I was a mean bitch for no reason." She turned her body and hugged me back.
"I was, too." I chuckled. "We both were. But we're here now, aren't we? Besides, you're a big part behind my painting."
I smiled and guided her towards my canvas, showing off my white lily proudly.
"It's so beautiful." She smiled. "Rebirth?"
"Yes. Thank to Chris, to you, to all of the members... I feel like I truly got a second chance at life, like I was reborn." I smiled genuinely.
"Make sure to show it to Chan as well, he'll love it." She returned my smile.
"You think so?"
"I know so. By the way, wanna go to the Orphanage tomorrow?"
"Yea, that sounds great! Maybe we can play hide and seek with the kids like last time! It was super fun!"
"Right? Ahhhhhh, I love children!!!" Hyo squeaked, making me laugh.
We continued our conversation back to the training grounds where Felix was waiting for us.
Then, we resumed our practice and continued it until late in the night.
~
After a full day of training with Felix and Hyo, I finally hopped in the shower. The warm water felt pleasant on my skin, the best part being finally taking off all the dirt from today.
I quickly wrapped my wet hair in a towel and opened the door to my bedroom, place that felt almost foreign by now. I was so used to always being with Chan, there simply was no use for this room anymore. I only came here to shower, change my clothes or take a quick afternoon nap when Chris was busy, but other than that, I never slept here anymore.
This night would be no different, of course.
After drying and combing my hair, I lazily headed towards Chan's door, just in my underwear and a bathrobe. They were going to come down real quick anyway.
"Baby." He smiled, taking his eyes off the book he was immersed in and placing it on the nightstand.
"Hey." I returned his smile and took off the bathrobe, climbing on the bed next to him.
"Shit, red?" he smirked, opening up his arms
"Of course. Your favourite."
"How was your day? Mhm, you smell nice." he complimented me while I positioned my head on his shoulder.
"Tough." I pressed my lips firmly on his neck, earning a small groan in response. "Felix gave me a few bruises, probably."
"Damn, should I beat him up?"
"Channie!" I chuckled and playfully bit his neck.
"Mhm, what? Shouldn't I defend my girlfriend in such cases?" he shifted himself and got on top of me, returning the gesture and leaving a small peck on my collarbone.
"You should train with me, maybe. Changbin was right. I really suck at close body combat... even after training for two months straight!" I whined.
"Lix and Hyo must learn your fighting style too. You didn't have enough missions with them." Chan looked deeply in my eyes, caressing my face with his thumb. "You're good enough, Emi. But you can't be the best at everything. No one shoots like you, no? It wouldn't have been fair to be number one at close body combat too."
"... I don't know. You are the best at everything, Chan, so..." I smiled sweetly at him.
"Everything?" he raised a brow and smirked, starting to move his hand from my face down my body, touching me through the panties.
"Mmm, fuck" I closed my eyes and moaned, raising my head and giving Chan full access to my neck. "Especially that."
He chuckled.
"I lack in many things too. I am impulsive, jealous, get angry easily... I'm not the best at everything. But I have you, and we work together, imperfect as we are, don't we?" his lips laid gently on my neck.
"I love you." I confessed, feeling my cheeks getting red. It was the first time I've ever felt like this romantically towards anyone... and the first time I've confessed it. "I love you, Chris."
In that moment, he stopped kissing my neck. He straightened himself above me, our eyes locking, and for a brief moment, it was just the two of us in the world.
We just stared at each other. I - baffled by my sudden burst of confidence to admit my feelings for him, and him – totally taken by surprise.
It seems my words finally clicked in his head, as he hastily united our lips passionately. He almost forced his tongue inside my mouth, and after a heated kiss, he looked at me again in awe.
"Emilia, I... Fuck, I have no words... I... I also love you... I am obsessed with you!" he confessed desperately, kissing me again. "I adore you."
I didn't know this feeling in my heard could grow to be so intense, almost painful.
"I need you." I pressed our lips together again and pulled him towards me.
From there on, things were quick to escalate. He dragged his pants down, pushed my panties aside and slid inside me with ease.
The room was being filled with obscene moans and grunts, as his sure and steady movements brought both of us to our highs.
~
"I will never get used to this." He chuckled seeing me run towards the bathroom, his release dripping down my leg.
"Yah, whose fault is that?!" I shouted and hopped in the shower. Chan was quick to follow, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me close to his chest, the hot water being almost cold compared to his warmth.
"I love you, I love you, I love you." Chan kissed my shoulder.
"Hmmmmm, sometimes I forget you're a Mafia leader." I chuckled.
"Mean."
"Speaking of leaders... I can't believe we're going to finally kill my former Boss."
"What, are you nostalgic?" he laughed.
"No, I mean... Finally?! I've been waiting to get my revenge on the bastard forever... even before I met you."
"Me too. Killing him will solve a lot of problems for Stray Kids." He nodded while washing my back.
"Just two months, huh?" I sighed.
"Are you worried?"
"Honestly? A bit."
"Well, don't be. Everything will go well. We will get rid of him for good." Chan tried to assure me, but for some reason, the more I was thinking about the it, the more anxious I was becoming.
"I- yea, we will." I nodded and tried to calm myself now.
Chan got out of the shower and held a towel for me to dry me off.
"Mhm, you weren't joking when you said Felix left some pretty bruises on you." Chan pointed out to the few spots darkening on my thighs and stomach.
"He is harsh, but I will learn. Who knows, maybe I'll even be able to take you down in a fight one day." I chuckled.
"Now, now, don't get cocky." He kissed the tip of my nose and picked me up. "You'll have to train hard the next 2 months, so let's sleep."
"Sure, baby." I kissed his lips as he placed me on the bed and took my rightful spot on his chest – my favourite place in the whole world.
"Good night, my love."
"Good night."

I was laying in bed last night to sleep before finishing up the poncho, and I couldn't help but to think back on the goofiest yet heartwarming tropes in toku that I wish could come back.
One being the "I'm not Your Mom but I Guess I am Now" Trope which can either be
Some baby (usually non-human) that is a plot device for the episode that finds one of the Rangers their parent.
The team sans 1 member turning into children
Now the funny thing about it is that the member playing the parent is usually the one that is seen as the type to not be a parent or the worst with kids.
So with that in mind, my brain at 2 am began to think about how it would fit the KingOh universe and which member would be thrown into the parent role. And I ended up with 2 (very obvious) options:
Yanma and Rita.
Now I don't know how they are with kids, generally, but I feel like the 2nd option where the entire team becomes children, those two are the ones most likely to have the most trouble with them. And I would rule out the retainers simply because they have to keep the kingdoms afloat while their Kings are actual children and not prepared for the role and have no memories of it.
Gira grew up in an orphanage and it's been shown time and time again how great he is with children. I believe the same would be said for Kaguragi as he does have a younger sister he doted on before he became Lord. Jeramie has been stated to appear on Chikyuu every few decades and drawings of him shows him playing with children so he's off the list.
Himeno is kinda iffy as I feel like her role as a doctor would make her rather motherly and dote on them. But why I would exclude her is simply the fact that she would fare better with Tiny Kings than the other two. She would have some shenanigans but most of her trouble would just be wrangling up the kids to keep them together.
In Yanma's case, he'd be annoyed with having to take care of five kids. Gira he can handle if it was just him. Maybe add on Himeno as Team Primary spend enough time together for them to know how to take care of each other in times like this. But considering how Himeno is at the age where she's coddled by her parents, you can already imagine his annoyance during her selfish moments. Jeramie is kinda a wild card but since it could be before his powers were sealed, Yanma has a lot of webs to clean up. Not sure how Kaguragi would be as a child, but I feel like he'd be a rookie at deception so it would be obvious enough for Yanma to see through it but good enough to fool some of the other kids (maybe even tempt them with sneaking out). Rita would just cling onto his leg considering they were a timid crybaby before becoming King. I think there might be moments Yanma would snap and yell at them which would quickly make him apologize as Shiokara tries to calm the scared children while scolding him for being mean to kids.
Rita would have similar troubles with the kids' personalities, but their biggest issue would be their Impartiality and how they would have to learn from Morfonia who was better with kids than them. They wanna keep their image of the Impartial Supreme Justice, but is quickly made aware it would deter the kids and have to learn how to take off their work mask.
The biggest thing is mostly how the two of them grew up compared to the others and how taking care of Baby Kings would make them reflect on their own childhoods and past where they were raised in ways that got them to where they are now. While they momentarily had adult figures that would be seen as their parents, it was made obvious the two of them mostly had to fend for themselves until they found the people who would have their backs (Yanma's group/Morfonia).
It would be a great healing episode for either of them and maybe even a way for them to open up to the rest of the team even if said team doesn't remember what happened. Though I think Yanma is open enough to them compared to Rita considering he does know how to get any of them to help him with whatever shenanigans/plans he has.
As for the other option where a non-human baby calls a member their parent, it'd mostly be said member struggling because they can't throw the kid into the arms of someone more capable while the team is investigating where the child came from and why it called the one member their parent. It's also heartwarming because it allows the team to see the softer side of their teammate and know they can be trusted should they be needed.
(But I also wanna see the kid actors portraying the Baby Kings finally interact. It would be so adorable and I would just melt into a puddle from the cuteness 😭)
(And baby Rita. Just... Baby Rita clinging to Shiokara's leg because Yanma scared them and refused to let go so he has to lure them out with a Moffun plushie.)

Custom Toonami Block Week 209 Rundown
Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture: Norland makes his castle fly and become like a Damocles 2.0 without the Fleijas I guess and he wraps the big shield over Japan like a tent so no one can get at him. Catherine challenges him since her whole thing is Might Makes Right so she’d accept the outcome if he’s able to beat her but he sidesteps the whole encounter and just uses an energy beam to turn off her Knightmare, invalidating her whole worldview. Rozé makes his way into the command building but the anti-anybody but Norland lock shuts the power down and traps them in there. The scientist guy Norland killed last time gets the blueprints for the Tatchikomas from hell sent to the Black Knights and they call them Lokis, turns out they’re powered and controlled by Norland’s new Knightmare even though they were operating long before he got in the thing. The Seven Shining Stars take to the ground to reboot the bunker breaker and free Rozé while Haruka deals with the pressures of leadership and one of the background extras gives a noble sacrifice, at this point I don’t really care about any of them except Haruka and Discount Alexis Rhodes so it’s fine. Also apparently Haruka’s the general’s daughter and idk if that’s ever been brought up until now but it’s barely relevant at all. Ash faces off against Norland but gets his suit turned off too and thrown out the window (seriously he did the same thing with Catherine, his goal is GENOCIDE why is he just tossing people out of windows instead of stabbing them!?) but Rozé gets free soon enough to meet him in the sky and catch him as the combined forces of the Black Knights, Shining Stars and Neo-Britannia unite against a mutual threat to humanity itself. Idk man I feel like we just quietly sidestepped the questions about Imperialism and Terrorism the original series raised and are just like making someone cartoonishly evil so we don’t have to deal with any of the shades of gray or complicated solutions a complicated world requires.
Arcane: After catching up Up Top last episode, this one’s all about what’s going on down below. Jinx is having a minor existential crisis and currently deciding which of her multiple personalities she’s going to be now that all her backstory threads at cut. The remaining druglords: Old Guy, Bat person, and Girl are all fighting each other in the wake of Silco’s death and Bat person is out to offer up Jinx because peace always seems to depend on sacrificing a young girl. Sevika and Jinx have a nice little scene where they mutually mourn their boss and it’s really weird because Jinx’s specialty is moving around unnoticed and just kinda popping up wherever but she not only gets followed by Bat Person but also by this little Olivier Twist kid she saved so like idk if these guys are just really good at following or if she’s given up on hiding. Meanwhile Viktor is revived from the magic goop as Ascended Wizard Viktor who seems to have enlightened magical awareness and Dr. Manhattan levels of cosmic detachment and just kinda dips out on Jayce. Turns out Ekko’s tree is dying so Heimerdinger breaks into his own lab and it’s a really funny scene like Professor Porg wants to be in a Mission Impossible movie so bad and Ekko’s just like “Bro there’s like NO security here”. They find Jayce and figure out that there’s some sort of symmetrical magical corruption going on in both places. Jinx is working away in her workshop and Cait’s Seal Team Six just comes in and gasses her, led by Vi which makes Jinx not happy to say the least, like I doubt Vi’s on board with straight up killing her but the fact they started out with toxic gas is not a good sign. Bat Person’s men finally catch up to Jinx but Sevika comes to claim her new Dragon Roulette arm thing and wipes the fucking floor with them with an assist from Oliver Twist kid. And last but not least Viktor makes his way into the Undead Burg and becomes a Jesus figure and starts curing the Hollows.
SAO Alternative: This is mostly one of those “remind everyone what the fuck was going on” episodes that you see between seasons that have had long breaks between them. Just like last season we have a big in medias res cold open of LLEN acting as the tiny decoy for her team with Pito, M and Fuka before flashing back to Pito inviting her to Squad Jam 3. LLEN absolutely refuses to fight Pito again because they made up last time and fighting a psychotic stalker gun Sith Lord once was more than enough for her, so they agree to all join a team together as friends so LLEN can keep her promise to the amazons of Team SHINC who’re basically the cast of Love Live rping as Black Lagoon characters in what has to be my favorite reveal from Season 1. All the teams file into the Squad Jam signups, including several of the teams Pito wiped out last time with her aforementioned crazy Sith Lord shit who are now out for blood. There’s also a few new characters that Pito seems to have killed off-screen or very briefly who’ve grinded up a ton of levels for the tournament. Ironically the winners from last time who just camped out till everyone was half dead are here and they’re not very popular because of their tactics and the fact they’re just a bunch of generic dude models and have no waifu characters because this game works surprisingly similar to real life and if there’s no waifus no one cares. Still these guys get a surprising message and we don’t get to see what it is but they seem pretty depressed about it. The Memento Mori bros Pito ripped apart last time meet up with team SHINC and say they both have other people they want to hunt down first so they’ll be avoiding each other until the finals. Meanwhile LLEN’s team finally comes up and they’re basically the most popular because they’ve got three cute girls and their combined track record is pretty amazing with LLEN being the former champ/second place and Pito being third and basically having the most kills in the last one. They load into the waiting room and have some character banter and they kinda sus out that none of them have really played all that regularly recently with Fuka binging ALO, LLEN just enjoying life and Pito and M being busy with an idol concert tour since Pito is also a Love Live character irl, so yeah, good setup, the good guys are out of practice and everyone is out for their heads, real Rocky 3 eye of the tiger moment going on here.
Trigun: It’s one of those episodes that splits up the party along shipping lines, Inuyasha does these all the time but it’s kinda neat to see this happen in this show given how early on it is where the ships are barely formed yet. Wolfwood and Milly get up to some hijinks protecting a dancer girl on the run but things quickly get more complicated as it’s revealed the girl is running away with the heir to a caravan company that holds the key to trade with the nearby big city. The boy is running, hoping to tank his father’s business after discovering they’re in the slave trade and are going to sell his new girlfriend. Wolfwood sees the complexities of the problem and claims just taking off won’t be a permant solution and will hurt a lot of innocent people that can’t get supplies, trying to get the kid to stay and fight or suck it up. Milly meanwhile in her simple way just kinda goes for helping the kids, simplifying the problem in a way Wolfwood’s moralistic agonizing can’t. Things get more intense as Vash is hired to go get the kid and kill the girl and they make a big deal about Meryl thinking Vash has turned heel but come on, we know he’s not in it to kill these kids. Milly and Wolfwood end up protecting the kids until Vash comes in and fakes their deaths, adding to his own reputation as a cold-hearted killer while sparing their lives. They do get away and somehow everything’ll be okay for the caravan I guess since the kid’s dad set this whole thing up with Vash ahead of time so most of this was a lot of worrying for nothing, still it was a nice little adventure for our main pairs as Wolfwood goes off in his own direction again for now.
Revolutionary Girl Utena: It’s a Nanami clip show episode so get ready for a barrage of the stupidest shit you’ve ever seen. Mitsuru saves Nanami from a wild horse and gets sent to the hospital while Utena, Nanami and Anthy ready his diary and he can’t stop them because he’s naked… I mean he could just call out to them but then we wouldn’t have a nice cheap 90% recycled animation and/or silhouettes episode. It’s kinda funny how oblivious Utena and Anthy are like they read all the shit Nanami’s done and is like “wow you’re a terrible person, why are we still cordial to you?” and… yeah, there is no good reason, I mean if there is one thing the clip show puts into perspective it’s that Nanami HAS grown somewhat and is more willing to step up to bad in her own silly way, like I couldn’t imagine the Nanami that melted Anthy’s dress going hands on against the Black Rose cult, not that she does much anything but still. Anyway yeah Mitsuru basically just Tsukishimas his way into every plot that has anything remotely to do with Nanami and makes everyone relive the cow bell thing again from which my brain will never recover. Still he ends up flashing everyone his dick and Nanami tortures him by reading all his fanfiction plans to woo her out loud. Next time we’ve got the start of Season 2 and the Apocalypse Saga where Anthy and Utena are moving in with Akio, oh boy.

guys guys guguguguguys. Guys I think I just figured out sonic 06 lore
Ok ok so this has to do with the ending of 06 and the age old question of "where the fuck is Iblis in the current timeline". I think I've figured it out.
Okokok so start with the basics. In Sonic 06, Blaze seals Iblis inside herself and dies. Mephiles goes back in time and fuses with Iblis bedorehand to stop it from happening. After the Solaris bossfight, Sonic and Elise go back in time to kill Solaris. Because I don't think you can just... kill the god of time like that, everything freezes there, and an extant timeline is created a little further back so that things can keep moving.
Since Solaris' death was the trigger for that, it indicates that the main timeline probably can't exist without him in some form. (This might apply to the others, especially considering Movie!Knuckles' flames of disaster, but because Solaris lore is kept under tight lock and key, we might never know.) After that, we didn't know what happened to him- up until Shadow Generations, when it was revealed that Mephiles- one half of the god- was trapped in the White Space the whole time. So that raises the question- where's Iblis? Most people theorise that he's in Blaze's dimension, trapped either in a dormant state within Blaze herself or simply just kept there somewhere away from where he can reunite with Mephiles. That theory relies on the event of Blaze sealing Iblis inside herself during 06- but that makes the timeline messy. The extant timeline was created far back enough that 06 never happened, but somehow Iblis is still inside Blaze or connected to her family line somehow. For that to work, the extant timeline would've had to be created in that future, after Blaze sealed Iblis away. Which is for sure not what happened, given the evidence against it.
However, if Iblis isn't in the White Space and he isn't in Blaze's dimension, then either he's in another timeline entirely- Or he's somewhere in the current timeline sealed away, indicating that the extant timeline was created either during or just after the Solaris Project when everything went wrong. But because Shadow and Silver were there for the Project, and Sonic and Elise killed a whole Solaris, that doesn't make any sense.
So we have a set point that the extant timeline needs to be created at, and the current theories don't quite work. So how can we find a place for Iblis that does work?
Simple. Well, no, not really, but hear me out.
Remember how I said earlier that because Solaris' death was the trigger event for the extant timeline, it likely meant that the timeline couldn't exist without him? We're circling back to that. If both Mephiles and Iblis are in the extant timeline, trapped somewhere (while being outside of time we can still consider Mephiles in the running timeline in a sense) then that would mean Solaris has moved to that timeline and might not be able to exist in the frozen 06 timeline. Yes, he exists in the past present and future all at once, but if the timeline splits into two, who's to say he's still restricted to one? It's possible. To that end, my theory is:
When the timeline moved back and was split, so was Solaris- Mephiles moved into the extant timeline, but was sealed in the White Space surrounding it. If he gets out, he's in the extant timeline, yes, but otherwise he's still sealed away. Iblis, meanwhile, is kept in the frozen 06 timeline- he's there, as a part of Solaris, but everything's stopped, so he can't do anything. That timeline is permanently locked off from entering by anyone (likely other than a full-formed Solaris, or possibly Mephiles since he holds the temporal power).
But why would Iblis be in the frozen dimension, I hear you ask? Because Iblis is more dangerous, of course. Mephiles, as smart and witty and cunning as he is, still has restricted levels of power, and he's smart enough to know that trying to get Iblis back would fuck over the timeline even more than it already has (which also likely affects them too, so it's not worth the risk). Without Iblis there to re-form, he only has so much power, and in terms of changing the timeline, can only make as much change as anyone else can by directly influencing things himself. Essentially, without the possibility of healing and becoming whole once more (my keyboard keeps capitalising Whole send help), he's a lot less dangerous to the timeline and the world, especially since he doesn't have access to that primary motive anymore. Iblis, however, isn't as sentient. He has some intelligence, but not enough to stop him from being the rampaging Flames of Disaster we know from 06. So if you're choosing one to keep in the moving timeline and one to keep frozen, the answer is obvious- keep the half with common-sense logic, emotion, and the capability for a redemption arc in the moving timeline, and keep the near-mindless condensed unchecked power of the sun in the frozen timeline.
Sonic Generations implies (mostly via design, afaik) that the Time Eater is Mephiles' temporal power torn from him by Eggman (unintentionally so) and left to run rampant the same way Iblis was, indicating that both (a) Mephiles in Shadow Generations is purely and entirely the heart and mind of Solaris with just his smoky form and what self-defence powers he has to his name, removed entirely of temporal power, and (b) the Time Eater is essentially what would've happened in 06 if the split had let Mephiles keep the sun-power and what was torn away was the temporal power instead. So it's interesting to see what could've been there, and what happens when Solaris is torn into two a second time (meaning technically it could've been torn into at least three separate entities and the Duke of Soleanna got lucky, actually).
Honestly I don't remember where I was going with that paragraph- I think it was just an extra note. Either way- Iblis is sealed away in the frozen timeline, which is why we've seen nothing about him since 06, because it's the safest way to keep him contained and away from Mephiles.
