#skip beat 180
lxvvie · 6 months
Note
Follow up to reader stealing Simon's clothes, reader sees he's getting annoyed so they leave his clothes. Simon does a 180 and is like "bro what are you doing put my clothes on right fuckin now" 🤣🤣
Simon and his peepaw-isms.
He asks you where your coat is as you're about to head out (it's only cool outside) and the next thing you know, he slings his coat over your shoulders.
You realize later on that when it comes down to it, Simon is just pissy about his clothes just to be pissy about his clothes. Gotta have something to grumble about, luv.
The reality is that it makes that heart of his skip a beat every time he sees you wearing his clothes. The first time Simon saw you wearing something of his, he'd arrived home a little later than planned from a deployment and walked in on you dozing on the couch. You'd been waiting for him, nestled comfortably in one of his hoodies, and bloody hell he fuckin' loves you.

Could I request headcanons for Astarion, Gale, Wyll, Halsin, Dammon, Rolan, and Zevlor react to his gn crush confessing to him while obviously waiting for rejection?
absolutely my love, here you go!
Astarion
Is not surprised you’re confessing (he knew how you felt it wasnt subtle lol), but is surprised that you seem so defeated about it
sort of annoys him? Upsets him? Of course he’s going to feel the same way, how can you think so little of yourself? He’s of the opinion that you’re wonderful. it’s so easy to fall for you.
but then he hesitates: he knows how easy it is to think poorly of oneself. He can’t judge you too harshly.
takes your hand, tells you that you’re lovely, and invites you out for coffee the next day. just the two of you. his heart skips a beat when you light up.
Gale
admires how courageous you are. can see you’re shaking as you admit your feelings.
”why do you think I wouldn’t feel the same way? you are one of the most spectacular people I’ve ever met. Anyone would be lucky to have you. I’d be lucky to have you.”
smiles when he sees how you start to grin, puts his hands on your waist and brings you in for a kiss.
if you’re a magic user dancing lights erupt from you because you’re so overwhelmed ✨
Wyll
Oh, sweet Wyll. Gobsmacked that you think he’d turn you down.
takes your hand and guides you somewhere where the two of you can be alone.
when you have your privacy he asks if he can kiss you.
you feel heat rise in your cheeks but nod, and he gives you the most astounding first kiss you’ve ever had lol
then he takes you out for dinner and holds your hand across the table the whole meal
(when you’re together properly he makes jokes the whole camp was asking “wyll they won’t they” about the two of you and you groan lmfao)
Halsin
another one who takes you to a private place to talk.
brushes your hair out of face and then cups your cheek in the same gesture, begins to wax poetic about how perfect the oak father made you and how you are without fault.
has echoed your feelings for a long time now and is glad you made the first move which takes a lot of the weight off your chest
he scoops you up in his big arms and swings you around until all the worry is gone and you’re laughing 💕
Dammon
his heart hammers in his chest when you tell him. he’s only a blacksmith!!!! he doesn’t know how to handle this!!
I imagine you confess to him while he’s working at his forge so that not all of his attention is on you, it’s better to soften the blow when he says he doesn’t feel the same.
puts his tools down, takes off his gloves, and holds your hands. tells you he’s admired you for a long while and is glad you feel the same.
you squeak when he kisses you but his soft touch keeps your grounded ❤️
Rolan
is offended how nervous you are (you don’t find him THAT intimidating do you?! He’s been trying to be nice because he likes you!) - and also a bit annoyed because he’s been working up the courage to confess for ages but you got there first
”Good, I like you too >:(“ “you do?” “Yes >:(“ “then why do you seem so grumpy about it?” “I’m not grumpy! >:( >:( >:(“
you kiss him on the cheek and he’s so flustered he loses control of the spell he was transcribing and magic missiles his office window to pieces lol
Zevlor
this is a battle of the least self-confident lol. you’re like “I don’t think you like me” and he replies “my dear you have so many better options than me”
so it turns 180, with you convincing him that you do like him and listing all his merits!
eventually youre at a stalemate. and then you just kiss each other, trepidatious at first and then getting more passionate as you relax 💕

HUNTING GAMES
cws : dubcon, somnophilia, creampie, levi leaves the game, murder, code-breaking, i went over the word limit a little bit, implied manipulation and threats, dating sim! levi, levi gets a bit ummm sadistic?? at the end, college! reader, im still not happy with it but its been so long since ive updated, if i missed anything please let me know.
commissioned by anonymous.
MDNI.
there was a new otome game that had been all the rage recently. characterized by its cutesy, college-life approach, lurking beneath each syrupy-sweet word and blossoming friendship was a sinister undertone. the objective of the game was to achieve the best possible ending for the route you choose, however each love interest was desperate for your love, making said objective increasingly unattainable the further the plot progressed. you’d downloaded the game when your friend had shown you one of their favorite love interests, finding yourself hooked on the stoic culinary arts major, levi ackerman.
levi ackerman was the first route you’d ever chosen. although, in the beginning, he wasn’t too keen on raising your intimacy level. while looking at forums online, you realized that was just how he was. levi was harder to please, and by far one of the most dangerous and volatile love interests in the game. he wasn’t afraid to annihilate any other character to get what he wanted, and knew how to cover his tracks. it was hard to tell when he was on the cusp of snapping, what he liked and disliked, and where he was when he wasn’t pestering you about something trivial.
once you finally manage to get your intimacy level up to the point where his obsessive tendencies begin to show, his personality does a 180… with you at least. he’s more affectionate, gives you gifts for your daily check in — most of it being food he’s cooked just for you, and you find that he’s easier to fluster, stumbling over his words and a faint blush spreading across the apples of his cheeks. levi is still the same when he interacts with npcs, maybe a bit more on the protective and stand-off ish side when youre around. with love interests, however, levi is more hostile than ever.
you’d failed levi’s route many, many times, and had finally just achieved the good ending when you’d stumbled across something regarding a secret route of his. naturally, you wanted to see it to completion, but for some reason it just kept going. growing tired of this secret route, you chose to switch to another love interest.
this love interest in particular was very sweet, docile almost. armin seemed harmless enough, and you found that you enjoyed this route more than you had levi’s. although, after a little while, you noticed some easter eggs hidden in the back that made you feel a bit uneasy. there was a silhouette in the background of each interaction, watching everything play out, as well as a few npcs that seemed to disappear or avoid you altogether. the more you played, the more uneasy and afraid armin looked.
you noticed that armin’s eyes were often glancing around, his sentences shorter when the silhouette was more prevalent, and on a few occasions, he’d outright ignored you. once, you’d found him beaten and bloody in an alleyway outside of the boy’s dormitories, appearing half-conscious and you’d chosen the option to patch him up. after that, your intimacy levels skyrocketed and he was back to normal.
just before the two of you exchanged a kiss during one of the date events, the screen glitched and suddenly armin laid in a pool of his own blood. armin’s face became pixelated, which was unusual for this game since it was known for its graphics. was this part of the game? your heart skipped a beat, gooseflesh rising on your arms as levi entered the place armin was just moments before.
levi’s appearance glitched in places, the blood spatter on his face seeming to drip and become more realistic. that… wasnt supposed to happen. did the game have a bug? you think you see levi’s brow twitch, his lips tugging into a frown, but you cant be sure.
“[name]… why did you leave me?” levi is uncharacteristically upset with you, his face scrunched with what seems to be a mixture of frustration and hurt. “i thought you loved me.”
you knit your brows, trying to exit the route; to your horror, youre unable to leave. levi grows increasingly upset the more you click the button, “why are you on his route? can’t you see that youre mine? we’re made for each other!” he shouts, his voicelines glitching in places.
“why can’t i leave the damn route?” you grit out, one hand gripping the hem of your shirt. “what the fuck is going on?”
levi’s face falls, a far away look in his eyes as you are finally able to exit armin’s route. you groan, leaning back in your chair as you thread a hand through your hair. “is this part of levi’s secret route?” you wonder aloud.
after that, you didn’t touch the game for days. you searched forum after forum, site after site, searching for answers. why did levi suddenly appear on armin’s route? surely, it was part of levi’s secret route… right? your gut told you otherwise, but a game character being sentient? that was something that only happened in fanfiction, and certainly not to you.
a week had come and gone before you even thought about touching the game. you were busy with work, college, and still hadn’t found the answers you were looking for. maybe you’d be able to find them in-game… but what if levi kills another love interest? what if they don’t come back when the game resets? what if —
shakily exhaling through your mouth, you release the tension in your shoulders, cracking your fingers as you hover over the next love interest’s route. she was a very bubbly love interest, her smile bright and contagious enough to have one of your own tugging at the corners of your lips as you right-click on hange’s route.
the two of you interacted quite well, your natural dialogue choices furthering your intimacy level. hange was known to be a relatively easy route — not much reading between the lines, or even guesswork. she was very upfront for the most part. you found yourself forgetting about your secret investigation, genuinely losing yourself to the interactions between yourself and hange.
you only started getting suspicious again once you noticed the silhouette in the background once more. hange seemed to notice too, but she was more composed than armin had been. you squint as the silhouette flickers, your pulse thrumming in your throat as you quickly stutter out, “levi, leave hange alone or i’ll never play your route again.”
the silhouette rushes to the screen, stumbling over its words and blubbering about how it just loves you so much and can’t live without you! the anonymity fades, leaving levi in its place, and you realize that levi was more dangerous than you’d initially thought. hange is quick to take her leave once she notices the look in levi’s eyes, and you attempt to as well. levi’s anger flares up once more at the sight of your cursor clicking the exit game button.
“[first name] [last name], stop trying to leave me. why don’t you want me anymore? you can’t make me love you and then leave. you’re so cruel.” levi’s digits grip his collar, tugging it away from his throat as if he couldn’t breathe. “i-i learned things about you, for you — i tried my best to be the man you wanted, so why are you choosing other people?! am i not enough?!”
a chill shoots down your spine, cold washing over your body as your stomach tightens. you tuck your fingers into your palm, beginning to feel as if you were glued to your seat. how did he know your last name? you don’t remember putting that information in at all… maybe it was from your email? maybe the developers had a third-party thing going on?
levi becomes more frantic the more he speaks, pleading and begging for you to love him again. “i was your first route! you put the most effort into me! you can’t just leave!!” you have a creeping feeling that he’s looking at you — unlike most games, levi seems to lack a blank stare, and instead seems entirely focused on you.
“there’s no way he’s sentient.” you mumble to yourself, pressing a quivering hand to the damp skin of your forehead. “i’m just…. im just tired and stressed. yeah… i should just go to bed.”
you stumble out of your chair, body on autopilot and mind reeling as you put your monitor in sleep mode and push your chair under your desk, trudging over to your bed in disbelief. you tuck yourself in, and just before you’re able to fall asleep, you hear levi speak.
“you look so cute when you’re sleeping…” you hear his shaky breaths — the utter glee in his tone, as if he were more than content just to watch you. dread and unease fill your stomach as you realize you can’t ignore this anymore.
you shoot up in your bed, chest heaving and eyes blown wide as your gaze snaps to your monitor. could he see you? could he hear you? were you going crazy?
you slowly make your way over to your monitor and pull up your game, levi dreamily staring back at you as if you’d hung the stars in the sky. “are… you sentient?” your voice wavers as you ask this, fingertips digging into the hard plastic of your desk.
levi stills, his idle animation unusually stiff. for a moment you wonder if you should check yourself into the nearest hospital, but then, “you finally noticed… oh, baby, that makes me so happy— i’ve been trying to get your attention for so long!”
it’s your turn to still, your body going rigid and exhaling shakily. oh, you were royally fucked. if he was sentient, could he leave the game? god, you hope not.
“i’ve been watching you for so long! i even learned about your parents and your siblings for you! i know your address, the names of your friends; i know your all favorites, i know that you have a dog named rufus, i know that you like to listen to music while you clean —“
levi drones on and on, going over everything he’s learned about you during the time he’s been watching you. your breathing grows heavy and erratic; sinking into a primal state of fight or flight, you hurriedly try to uninstall the game from your computer, but it seems levi had already anticipated this. the screen glitches, flashing white as levi appears in different places — duplicates, different routes, pictures of you, npcs that went missing, hastily written notes all dedicated to you.
deciding that deleting the game wouldn’t work, you opt to unplug your computer. the screen stills for a moment, going completely black before a variety of coding begins to type out on the screen.
“leave me alone!” you shout, your voice cracking as you rip your monitors and pc off of your desk, throwing them across your room. they bounce off your dresser, knocking a few trinkets and such off, sending them clattering to the ground. you notice the coding slows for a moment, eyeing the shattered hardware scattered across your bedroom floor. “you’re just a game!! i don’t actually love you!”
“you’re wrong!!” levi’s voice is distorted and distant — glitching out in some places, or manifesting as a multitude of voices, some higher, some lower in pitch. “you love me — you do! i know you do!”
you panic, the cortisol and adrenaline running through your veins clouding your sense of judgment as you rush to your kitchen and grab a trash bag, picking up a baseball bat from a closet on your way back to your room. you hastily throw your setup in the bag and grip the bat, swinging the metal bat back and smashing the contents of the bag until you feel safe and can’t hear the whirring of the code any longer. you stumble back onto the edge of your bed, staring at the bag as you strain your ears for any signs of levi. heaving a sigh, you wipe the sweat from your brow and gather all the miscellaneous pieces of your setup that were strewn across your floor, placing them in the bag.
you feel disconnected from your body as you bring the bag outside, opening your garbage can and tossing them in. a drop on your face shocks you out of your stupor, but you realize that it was only a drop of rain. your fingers tremble still, your breathing still erratic as you try to calm your racing heart. how was any of this even possible?
you slowly trudge back inside your home, entering your room and collapsing on your bed. this must be a bad dream. it has to be; there’s no way that this could happen. you lie awake for awhile, your mind spinning round and round again. thoughts come and go, never staying for too long, and you forget them immediately after they depart. the events of the night had worn you out, your eyes growing impossibly heavy, drifting off into a deep slumber.
outside, the monitor screen flickers to life. code rapidly pans down the screen, sparks flying as a hand slowly peels out. carefully, levi drags himself out of the game and into…. wait, why is he in a trash can? surely, his beloved wouldn’t…? with haste, levi tracks his way inside your home, brows furrowed with quiet rage. how could you just throw him away like that?
levi takes his sweet time cleaning up, lathering himself in your products and sniffing your towel before drying himself with it. he runs his fingers along the countertops, walls, and doorframes, trudging along to your room as he admires your home. it isn’t long before he finds you sleeping soundly atop your bed sheets. levi’s breath instantly catches in his throat, his heart racing in his chest as he approaches your slumbering form. you were even prettier in person.
carefully crawling onto your bed, the pads of his fingers tuck a strand of hair behind your ear, trailing down to your shoulders. his eyes wander to your exposed flesh before flickering back up to your lips. one kiss couldn’t hurt, right? carefully leaning down, levi molds his lips to yours; his heart nearly stops the moment he tastes you. one kiss isn’t enough. he needs more! levi unbuckles his belt and ties your hands to the headboard, then drags his hand along your chest, swallowing thickly as he feels his pants tighten.
levi quietly positions himself between your thighs, burying his head in your neck as he leisurely grinds his cock into you. biting his lip to muffle his whimpers, he lifts your shirt, baring your breasts to his greedy eyes. levi immediately latches onto one, his tongue swirling around the erect flesh as he works your pajama pants to the side.
“need to taste you, baby.” he murmurs. levi kneels between your thighs, his tongue slowly lapping at the arousal that had begun to leak from you. he takes but a moment to shimmy his pants down far enough to fist his cock, slowly pumping it with his free hand. the man softly groans into your folds, a sleepy whine parting your lips in response.
as he continues lapping at you, levi feels his stomach tighten and stops all movement. he waits for the feeling to subside, then aligns himself with your entrance. he shallowly thrusts into your cunt, slowly working his way inside and bottoming out with a broken whimper. levi’s mind spins at the way your walls grip him — the feeling almost as if he were made to fuck you, as if you were made to take him. his fingers grip your hips as he attempts to control himself, pressing both of your legs further out for easier access.
it isn’t long before levi loses himself in the feeling; it is his first time after all. his hips snap into yours, whimpering and whining through gritted teeth all the while, and you slowly begin to wake. levi’s eyes roll back as the feeling in his tummy snaps, not once stopping as he pumps you full of his cum.
you let out a confused moan, your eyes slowly adjusting to see levi’s fucked out face gazing down at you. “f—feels so good…” he whispers, slotting his lips to yours. you attempt to shimmy away, but it was to no avail; the asshole had tied you up. you attempt to fight him off, but it’s to no avail as he’s stronger than you and has shackled you to your bed.
waves of unwanted pleasure course through your body, forcing soft whimpers and whines from your lips as levi unknowingly rocks his hips into the places that have your eyes rolling back. gazing down at you with something akin to reverence, levi presses the pad of his thumb to your clit, slowly circling his name and bringing you closer to your climax.
“cmon, baby.” levi groans, feeling your walls tighten around his cock. “cum f’me.”
you simply shake your head in response, screwing your eyes shut and murmuring through a whimper, “go fuck yourself.”
levi only chuckles at your words, seemingly amused, and lifts your hips; the man slings an arm around your lower back, one hand gripping the meat on your hip, and forces you to meet his thrusts.
nothing seemed real at the moment. you were unable to stop levi from leaving the game, and now the man was taking advantage of you. you suppose the only good thing in this situation is that despite it all, levi was going to make you cum.
your back arches as your fingers dig into your palms, your cunt pulsing and fluttering as your eyes roll into the back of your head. a high-pitched whine erupts from your throat, levi smirking victoriously at the sight beneath him, and you relinquish control; melting into his hold, you wordlessly beg for more.
you didn’t know what would come after this, nor did you know how you were going to fight your way out of it. the only thing you knew is that this felt good. somewhere deep in your mind, you knew you didn’t want this, but had decided to relish in the feeling of being desired for the time being.

Really like the idea of a yandere Vox who is so ride or die for his overconsumerist capitalist Musk-esque lifestyle UNTIL he sees it negatively affecting his darling and does a complete 180
like take that poly red string soulmate Vox x Reader x Alastor concept and, you've got Alastor KINDA warming up to technology and willing to watch TV and do other things with you but he's still not a fan of you being on your phone constantly and some of the video games and movies you consume. He's on the couch reading a paper and (affectionately) rolling his eyes as you and Vox take turns headshotting each other in a video game and hollering "hell yeah, suck my fucking dick!!"
Meanwhile Vox is just 200% chronically online and loving it until one day he asks you why you wear baggy clothes all the time and you're ever so casually replying "because my body is fucking icky, duh" and Vox has absolutely no idea what you're talking about until you break down on a tangent about it
I was watching a clip the other day where someone was pointing out that Marilyn Monroe was considered the 50s icon of beauty and there are plenty of photos with her with thick thighs or a visible belly pooch and, imagine Vox sitting there, the disbelieving 'are you joking?' smile falling off of his face as you just, go OFF, "why would I wear anything other than sweatpants? I have fucking CELLULITE VOX, I'll NEVER have leggings legs no matter how thin I am, and look at my hip dips, they're so fucking GROSS, and my butt isn't shaped right, I have banana rolls, and, do I have siren eyes or doe eyes?! Am I bunny cute or am I frog cute?! And look at how bad my facial balancing is! Ugh, where's my gua sha?! I'm so tired of being UGLY!!"
Later that week Alastor is looking up from his paper to see Vox just, slowly entering the room, sloooooowly shutting the door behind him, looking to his old friend, "so hey! Funny idea, stop me if you've heard this one before but, I was thinking we could uh, maybe take their phone away annnnnnnnnnd... not give it back?" and here's Alastor, "oh, funny story! So earlier today they asked me if I 'wouldn't like them anymore' if they got COSMETIC SURGERY, yeah, ON THEIR FACE BELIEVE IT OR NOT, so, naturally, I'm already one step ahead of you :)" as he just casually gestures to the smashed wifi router in the garbage can in the corner of the room
You just get home from work one day and Vox has his CRT head back on and you're told 'if you want to look something up online, you can use the desktop in the computer room, and only 3 hours of screen time' and it all but blasts you 15 years into the past 💀 no more nights where you're gaming for 5+ hours straight and ruining your sleep. No more skipping meals because you're hyperfocused and binge-watching an anime while also playing an idle game on your phone. No more Alastor and Vox finding out you're just smoking bowls for hours literally nonstop because you need some sort of extra stimulation while you doomscroll and watch 3 hour long roast reviews for shows you've never watched
Alastor catches you swiping through an app and you get a divisive video thrown in your face from some alpha dude bro podcast, "yeah, a real man knows how to protect his lady! She should be at home cooking and keeping the house clean, not running around like a tramp and doing dumb chick stuff! All women need to focus on is marriage and being good wives, you know, a TRADITIONAL relationship!" and Alastor is just, swiping that shit out of your hand, "he DOES have a bit of a point, repulsive as he is! I suppose I'll have to start looking at potential dwellings that can fit you, me, and, I SUPPOSE Vox too 🙄" and little do you know he's already got a cute little home in the 'burbs set up already. He's just... you know! Waiting for the right moment to let you and the annoying TV bastard know that you'll be moving! Maybe he'll just... wait until the day of! Nothing beats a fun surprise, right? ^^ he doesn't want either of you... trying to run away or anything after all haha!

thinking Aventurine who loves/doesn't mind taking risks vs Reader who doesn't do anything that isn't a guarantee.
Aventurine who will use every last ticket he has to pull for the character he wants vs Reader who will skip the banner if they don't have 180 tickets/90 tickets and a guarantee.
Aventurine who will use the most alluring words in the hopes of getting people on his side vs Reader who prefers to keep quite unless they have something really important to share.
Aventurine who goes into every battle betting on his luck and skill vs Reader who doesn't fight anyone they can't be absolutely certain they can beat. (so you know if they agree to fight you you're fucked, might as well start investing in a good quality casket)
This gives way to a very cool scene where you're preparing for a fight that Aventurine won't be there for, so he's really worried about you. He really wishes he could be there but he has his own part to play in the plan. "Are you sure you'll be alright?" You give him a confident look. "Relax, I don't enter battles I can't win." He cannot be more smitten with you.
Just Aventurine looking at you with hearts floating around his head while you maul someone to death.
"Rules are malleable and meant to be bent." vs "I'll follow instructions down to the very last letter."
love it muah muah
reminds me of a idea i had:
A: This is my bodyguard, their lovely, aren't they? R: *probably committed war crimes, would be on the IPC's wanted list with bounty in millions if Aven didn't have so much influence* A: Thier so perfect <33

Headcanons: The Ghouls first meeting / Developing a crush on you
The Ghoulettes + Mountain version here
Dewdrop
• Standoff-ish, is feisty with you at first
• Copia has to remind him to be nice to you since you're still new to the ministry.
• Has a lot of trust issues, but you are patient with him.
• You always greet him with a smile and he just sneers at you. But that doesn't stop you from making an effort for friendship
• One day you do something extra thoughtful and you mend the neck of his favorite guitar when he broke it in a fit of rage. He. Was. Speechless.
• "You did this? But, I've been such an ass to you..." "It's no problem, I know how much it meant"
• His feelings for you did a complete 180. He didn't make any rude face expressions when you smiled at him, he could only look away an blush. Other times he'd just wave.
• His tail wags when he sees you despite his face holding no expression. He has to tuck it in his trousers it gets so bad.
• You complement his long hair and he let's you touch it. His face has never been so red when you leaned closer to run your fingers through it.
• "Fuck, I'm such a pathetic loser. (Reader) would never think of me that way"
• He gnaws at his claws while daydreaming about you
Aether
• Warm and welcoming when you first meet
• Instantly becomes friends with you, he's definitely one of the more extroverted ghouls from the rest of the group.
• Finally, he has a work buddy. It's a little exhausting being Copias right-hand ghoul.
• Enjoys your company so much that he asks you to help out with more things around the ministry
• At first he thought he'd only see you as a good friend. But one day he hears you humming one of his favorite songs while in the library. He stays extra silent so you don't know he's there. Fell for you so hard you could compare it to falling down the steps.
• His pointed ears perk up everytime he hears you, smells you, hell, even by looking at you.
• Copia ships you two
• You gave him a little peck on the cheek when he bought you your favorite food while working. He left your office with the widest grin the world had ever seen.
• Never washed his cheek again until Cumulus had to basically hose his face down.
• Puffs his chest out to look more macho, always loves it when you complement his strength.
Rain
• Introverted. A ghoul of few words. Doesn't say anything when you first meet, only nods his head.
• As soon as you talk to him, he averts his eyes and keeps conversations short.
• You understand that he doesn't like talking, so you try communicating without words before he's comfortable enough talking to you.
• Seeing him while in a meeting, your eyes met. He was about to look away but you slip him a note from under the table.
• 'hiii, how r u?'
• His heart skips a beat, but he gives you a thumbs up.
• First it was notes, then it was hand gestures and face expressions. Finally, you two started having conversations
• He becomes more confident after you two became friends. Spoke up and had more faith in himself.
• He started crushing when you cared enough to slip him that note.
• Writes songs about you but hides them in his acoustic guitar. (Yes he plays bass, but likes to play acoustic guitars from time to time)
• He LOVES your eyes, he feels enraptured in your gaze.
Swiss
• Flirty, very flirty
• You can only laugh at his corny pick up lines. That satisfies him enough to know that you have a good sense of humor
• Is naturally very talkative, so it's easy to have conversations with him.
• Continues with using pickup lines on you, honestly he's never had anyone to use them on besides some of his fellow ghouls.
• Until the day comes when you flirt back with him. Satan, that awoke something in him.
• Also, he's very touchy, so he constantly wraps his arms around you and rests his head on your shoulder.
• You think nothing of it since you've seen him do the same with Dewdrop and Phantom. But he's definitely doing it just so the other Ghouls know you're his.
• Loves to show his teeth off for you, you've nicknamed him "Biggy Smiles"
• Quietly purrs when he hears you talk
• The ghouls know how badly he wants you, he talks about you nonstop.
• This man is so down bad. Catch him making up scenarios about you and him. Sounds familiar doesn't it?
• Likes to watch you work from afar, he doesn't want to make his love for you too obvious just yet
Phantom
• Ah yes, the new guy.
• You were there when he was summoned from the depths of hell.
• The first person he laid eyes on was not Papa, but you. You intrigued him in a way no other human has.
• You were assigned to teach him all of his tasks, introducing him to the other ghouls, and to fit him for his Ritual/concert clothing.
• He is very playful with you, he treats you like a fellow ghoul.
• Follows you around like a lost puppy, still doesn't feel like he fits in. You tell him that he's being silly and that the other Ghouls like him despite what he thinks.
• Well, he also just wants to be with you. He's very protective when he's around you, especially with the more flirty ghouls sneaking glances at you now and again.
• He likes his ghoul friends, but will fight for you if they even think of making an advance towards you.
• He's also a flirt, will tease you when you're working. It's worse when it's at a ritual and he sees you in the front of the crowd. He puts his guitar his shoulder, kneels down, and stares at you while smirking.

Amidst the haze of death and the fog of rot, Yuri finally finds you. Her heart skips a beat at the sight of your sunken eyes and grotesque infected bite on your neck. Her trigger finger shakes as her scope roams around your bloodied clothes. Drying black splotches of blood marring the familiar jacket you always wore. A sob breaks through her body, tears blurring her vision, she finally found you but it's too late.
She's too late.
Yuri whispers your name, and you stumble out of the dilapidated record shop like you heard her. Out comes another familiar form after you, leather jacket all torn up, jaw unhinged and numerous bites along his leg. Yuri almost screams his name, Hobie. Her hopes are dashed at the sight of his undead body following you. She thought that he would be alive at least, that he's surviving somewhere, but she knows that he can't survive without you. That's probably why when Yuri moves the sniper scope downwards, she sees your hand bound with his. A rope around your wrist and Hobie's, tying you to him, tying him to you. It says everything, it tells a tragedy.
She hoped and wished that she would find her friends after the world ended, hell, she even readied herself that she would find them without a breath in their decaying lungs. But not like this, never like this.
You both shamble off into the streets, as if you're holding each other, as if you're both still breathing, hand in hand, like how she always sees you both. Yuri hesitates to pull the trigger. She remembers everything, from how you laughed at her joke, from how she met Hobie to the last gig with you two before the world went to shit. She misses you both, truly, she would always wake up wondering where you two ended up amidst the chaos. She even relished the thought of not knowing, her mind making up situations of where her friends would be.
Yuri has no idea how to tell Ned.
Her walkie-talkie cackles on her chest, the unmistakable voice of Ned sounds out on the roof she's perched on. “Yuri?” He asks, voice tired.
Yuri clears her throat but the tears still come. “I'm here.”
“Good, uh, I know we're looking for supplies but you know the drill. If you see any signs of Y/N and Hobie—”
“I'll tell you, I know.” She knows Ned's spiel already, it has been almost two years of trying to find you two, two years of Ned saying the exact same sentence. Two years of scavenging the city and the only sign you two have left was Hobie's guitar left on the floor of a pharmacy. That was six months ago. Two years of hope, two years of longing to find you both alive and well. And now that she has, she has no idea what to do now. Especially that you're husks what you and Hobie used to be.
The walkie-talkie cackles to life again. “...okay, thanks. No sign of them on my end.”
Yuri looks through her scope again, following you and Hobie shambles into the old pub where everyone in the band frequents before everyone got separated. Then she realizes, you were both going into places where you two used to go to. The record shop was where you met the rest of the band, where Hobie introduced you to them. She remembers how shy yet excited you were to meet them, and she remembers how Hobie held on to you like someone in the band would shoo you away. No one did, everyone else welcomed you with open arms. That was almost ten years ago now. Yuri wishes she could go back, but she can't.
Every place leads back to the past.
She weeps alone, gloved hand covering her mouth so the noise wouldn't attract the horde below.
Yuri has the urge to come down from her perch to take a good look at you and Hobie. But she knows that she wouldn't be able to pull the trigger once she sees your still intertwined hands closer. She hates herself for not being brave enough to come and say goodbye to her friends, she hates herself for not telling Ned the truth. She hates herself for not finding the both of you sooner.
As the sun sets and the undead below groans lowly, teeth clacking against the other, chomping into nothingness. The sobs Yuri let out has subsided, yet the heaviness in her chest stays. She wonders how long it'll stay.
Seeing movement inside the pub, she looks into her scope to spot you two walking out. For a moment her eyes betray her, she sees you both alive and well, clean clothes on your back, smiling at eachother and hands intertwined like always. Yuri blinks and all she sees is death.
With a deep inhale, she follows you and Hobie throughout your ‘day’. Ignoring James’ and Ned’s calls, she jumps from roof to roof, sniper tied on her back, and mind imagining that it's a regular day for you both. That maybe in your mind’s eye, that you're having a date with Hobie, that maybe in his mind's eye that he's taking you out for a nice day out after a hard week.
She hopes that's the case.
Yuri always thought that there's always a semblance of somebody's life left in them once they turn. You walking into the empty grocery store with Hobie in tow proves it. She wonders if there's a cure, she could possibly bring you both back to life. But the gaping hole in your neck and the angry wound on Hobie's leg says otherwise.
Jumping to another dusty roof, you and Hobie are a lot closer to her now. She could see you both clearly, she wishes she doesn't. From just one good look at the injuries littered around yours and Hobie's rotting flesh, she surmises that her friends have only been dead for two weeks.
Yuri fights a sob from breaking out of her aching chest. She was too late, her mind racing to all the what if’s. Shaking her head, she sees you two wander off to the pier. And she immediately knows where you're going. As you both disappear behind broken boats, Yuri jumps off the roof with a practiced landing. Barely making any sound or letting her knees take the brunt of the fall. A tear escapes when she remembers that she learned how to do that from Hobie.
Trainers thumping softly against the wooden dock. Yuri sees you and Hobie sitting at the end of it, barely moving, still not breathing as you two watch the sunset. Your backs are turned away from her, if you can even smell her from where you sat, you don't take notice of her. Milky white eyes glued at the orange sunset that slowly sinks down into the sea.
Yuri takes out her handgun, breath stuck in her throat as she aims shakily at your heads. Whispering your names, instead of looking over your shoulders to stare and lunge at her warm flesh, you place your heavy head on top of Hobie's shoulder.
Yuri shakes her head, exhaling, you both look so alive like this, peaceful, lives untouched by sorrow and death.
When Yuri returns back to base with Ned frantically running towards her, eyes full of worry, he knows immediately the reason why her eyes are red, and why there's tears flowing down her tear stained cheeks. He knows, and he crumbles to his feet.

Don't miss this one
So like I posted earlier, my heart woke me up super early absolutely slamming in my chest, working like I was jogging while lying down.
I had to oblige it with a brutal workout on stimulants. Had to. It works so hard for me, so I had to work hard for it.
I snuck my stemoscope into the gym under my sweatshirt after taking a heavy dose EC stack and got straight to the treadmill. And oh my God did my heart perform.
I'll open with the biggest highlight: my heart beating 180+ bpm for 20 minutes straight.
This is over my natural maximum rate. I saw stars. My chest felt so light and joyous. My heart was flying and just craved more and more work, and all I could do was honor its power. It felt like I didn't have a body, I wasn't in the gym, I was just this beastly pounding heart beating inside me, going faster and faster.
Here's audio from the rest of the workout.
I knew it was going to be one of the best workouts of my life from this warm up. I was pushing close to my natural maximum rate doing a fairly easy warm up. I could just feel my heart thrilled to pound. This gets kind of noisy when I run but my heart was louder than my feet hitting the ground.
After the first round uphill I tried some sprints. It seemed to work my heart harder than my legs.
This is where my legs finally called it quits. I did more uphill climbing but I couldn't hold out as long as I wanted. Right after dropping the incline I had a nice skip, the rest of the file is cool down. You can hear it wouldn't slow down because of the stimulants and excitement.
This was incredible. I'm thrilled to get to share it with yall.

Exercise….Again… how do you think she went this time? (Read to the end (or skip) it’s worth it)
So after last time I was told that my heart probably freaked out as I was failing at normal human needs like food and sleep. So better equipped I went out today to try again and slow.
Just a walk… maybe a preset “hike” on the treadmill… HRM linked to see the rate easy. Ecg - in case a decent trace was obtained. Stemoscope taped to my chest - a hybrid erbs spot which actually got good sound despite movement. I felt like a lab rat but was ready to go.
Choose a trek. One looks easy… but didn’t check the stats. Instant 10 grade incline. It’s ok. We’re walking at 3km/h. Easy pace. Listening to may heart in my ears. The sound is good. I’m surprised. I can hear her picking up speed and my breathing getting faster and deeper. But I feel good.
At some point I jump off the treadmill to check the ecg and the sound come recovery time. You will hear her drop. That is not the recovery. She needs a bit more pushing. I increase the speed as my RPE is comfortable. The HRM registers in the 170s and not pushing further. I still feel fine and it’s been about 20 mins. I know I said I wouldn’t run and would take it easy. But I was feeling ok. So I reduce the incline to 0 and crank up the speed. This is the point where the recording cuts out as you can just hear my feet pounding and not my heart. Little by little I increase the speed until we hit 188. She then drops to 182 and keeps climbing and dropping between the numbers. I decide to push a bit more. We haven’t hit 190 in 5 years to that was the goal. Pushing into a sprint, it takes her about a min to realise what’s going on. I’m watching the rate on the screen 186, 189, 192. I jump off, heartbeat pounding as fast as I’ve ever heard her. I catch my breath for a few seconds and realise I should be screen recording my ecg. She’s slowed down a bit by this point but you can see she really seems to like beating in the 140s. 😂
This time I felt fine. No dizziness. A bit quicker recovery from the 180s - 190s. 🥰

Natsuki's Doki Doki Panic Chapter Two
Here is the second chapter, this time with editing provided by the talented @nursepunkdreams.
Circling Darkness
At first, Natsuki could only feel the throbbing of her heart. It was hummingbird fast, uncountable, and as tentative as the slight beat of their wings.
And it hurt. God, did it hurt. As though someone had sunk several needles into her chest and her heart was being forced to contract around them.
But that wasn’t quite right. Her other senses trickled in one after another. More pain. The soft hiss of compressed air; something strapped to her face, and a scattering of smaller somethings attached to her chest. A shrill, rapid beeping…
She winced. She was in motion, for sure—whoever was driving had hit some rough road. She tensed and tried to focus on something else.
Natsuki finally opened her eyes. She recognized the interior of an ambulance right away and tried to take it all in. An intravenous line snaked into her arm, and a dozen EKG electrodes covered her naked chest. A green mask fitted around her face fogged with her every breath.
Her vision wouldn’t quite focus, no matter how much she willed it to, and her thoughts didn’t fare much better. The whats, the whys, the hows of everything—it all escaped her.
“Hey there.” The paramedic noticed her wandering eyes. He gently touched the side of her face to center her gaze on him. “You just rest, okay? You’ve been through a lot. We’ve got you.”
She wanted to demand some answers, but was distracted by someone touching her shoulder. It looked like…
“It’s okay. I’m here too,” Monika reassured her in a soft tone. She watched worriedly as the other paramedic inched his stethoscope around her chest. “You fainted in the club room… so we’re just going to the hospital for a checkup. That’s all.” She placed her hand in Natsuki’s.
The paramedic let out a short sigh when he finished his examination and replaced the instrument around his neck.
“Still tachy. ETA?” He called out to the front.
“A minute, if that.”
Natsuki allowed herself to take some relief in that. The hospital would fix everything, right?
“Ah—” Her breath caught with a particularly painful spasm of her heart. The patient monitor sounded off with a new alarm as the spasms continued, and her hopes began to wane.
“She’s throwing some strong PVCs,” the paramedic said. He looked concerned scanning the monitor’s readout. “Hanging out around 180—pulse ox is dropping…”
Natsuki didn’t understand what the words meant. She looked to Monika for context and found her looking down at her, tense with worry—even more so than before.
That couldn’t be good.
“We’re here,” Monika gently relayed the information to her with a hand on her face. “I’ll be close by, okay…?”
She barely registered what she had said. There was a bit of jostling, some fussing by some unseen hands and the voices attached to them; the panel lights flashing overhead… but all she could focus on was her heart, beating out of control. It skipped and stuttered along in double-time, threatening to give out…
Then she came to a stop. She thought she glimpsed a sign that said ‘Cardiac Care Unit’, but she didn’t have time to think about it further. Suddenly her body was aloft, and then manhandled into position on a new bed. On every side, people were a blur of activity and an indiscernible torrent of medical jargon she couldn't hope to understand.
“Hi there Natsuki, are you with us?” One of her attendants spoke loudly and clearly, but still with a reassuring lilt. She waved her hand in front of her face. “There you are. You’re at the hospital, okay? Your heartbeat is very irregular, and we need to give it a little jolt to get it back to normal…”
She continued talking, explaining, but the words faded. On her opposite side, another medic was readying a defibrillator. She’d seen them, in movies, of course—but never in real life. The heavy capacitors were placed on her chest: one under her collarbone and the other under her breast. The team stepped back, and the man holding the paddles shot her a sympathetic look.
The shock was sharp and sudden, so much so that she hardly grasped that it had happened at all. She gasped, the trace read flat, and she became hyper aware of her heart. For a second, she was able to trace every part of her rebellious cardiac organ. Every blood vessel, valve, nerve, all of it; as though she could view it in a three-dimension space…
Then the muscle contracted. Once more, blood rushed to the rest of her body. She started to hyperventilate. The sensation—the awareness—was overwhelming. The monitor continued to broadcast a rhythm that was far too rapid.
“No change—still v-tach…”
She braced for the worst. The twin capacitors settled onto her chest once more.
The second shock struck her. The muscles of her back tightened and thrust her body against the defibrillator paddles, as if trying to buck them off. Her heart clenched like a fist, the electricity forcing a contraction. She slumped back onto the bed and her heart relaxed, still for a moment, then one beat… another…
No third beat. Natsuki’s heart, tired from all it had been through, merely twitched and spasmed.
She felt like she was sinking. The action around her grew more frantic—one medic rushed forward to compress her chest, another grabbed a bag-valve mask as her breath fled her lungs in a drawn out wheeze.
Her vision frayed into darkness at its edges. She feared the worst, but…
She could still see.
A medic frantically worked her chest, caving her ribs with every shove. Another tore off her mask and replaced it with the bag valve. She squeezed the bulb fast and steady, raising her chest with each repetition. It brought an ache in her ribs to her attention, and she found herself with the wherewithal to wonder if it was broken. Having barely finished her thought, she also noticed the pain of her ordeal was rapidly subsiding.
This is so embarrassing… Natsuki thought when her head was a little clearer. She hadn’t bared her chest for anyone in recent memory, but now a whole half dozen—or more—got to behold her pathetic body. She could feel her small breasts jiggling with each thrust, and going by what parts of her body felt clothed… she was only wearing her pink panties and white socks.
Natsuki thought she might expire fully right then and there.
She was reminded of the gravity of her situation then. She was fucking dying.
No… no! Not like this! She couldn’t reconcile with it. Her life had been utterly terrible for so long—it was only just getting good. She had a nice place to live! A crush on a cute girl! And she most certainly did not deserve to die from a sudden heart attack. She still needed to graduate, start a bakery… have sex at least once—not put into a casket at the ripe old age of fucking eighteen.
The compressions stopped, and the defibrillator was placed against her once more.
Please work, Natsuki begged. The current rippled through her and arched her back. Her jaw clenched, and for a second, all she saw was light. It rapidly gave way to darkness.
The void lingered just long enough to make her think this might be it. But she realized—she could still think, and then, she heard the noises around her. They were muffled, as though coming from the next room over, but enough for her to cling to for dear life. There was an alarm—shrill, persistent; a backdrop against the desperate voices of the team working her code.
She became aware of the compressions resuming next—suddenly acutely aware of her ribs being forced down; of her sternum pushing into her heart. The weight moved the arrested muscle down, stopped only by her spine; her ribs growing more pliable and fragile by the second. Beneath her chest wall, the organ was squeezed like a rubber ball; the valves within forced open as the blood was ejected. She could feel it—the blood pushed through the hungry arteries… and could discern, somehow, that it wasn’t nearly as effective as her heart beating normally. Between each thrust, her heart would swell as the blood rushed back.
All of this, in less than a second. But time dilated beyond all meaning now. The artificial rhythm continued at pace, and Natsuki felt the cadence with exacting clarity. Her heart continued to twitch. It reminded her of a plate of gelatin being shaken.
It occurred to her then—she hadn’t really considered her cardiac health all that much. Sure, she’d been a bit worried about it recently, but she didn’t think about it as a distinct part of her. She supposed she’d abstracted it somewhat—it having took on the appearance of a classic cartoon heart in her mind's eye, rather than the complicated mass of muscle it actually was.
Natsuki tried to give herself a shake. The present moment was far more pressing than this weird little detour her mind had taken… she needed that heart to beat again.
The compressions let up and air flooded her lungs. She relished the feeling. Breathing was good…
More of that, please…
She was met with more compressions. It would have been a relaxing cycle, if not for the mortal terror of it all.
Attempting to shift her mind elsewhere, she thought of her heart again. She could feel it so clearly, after all… perhaps she could figure out what the hell was wrong with it. She imagined turning it over in her hands, looking for anything amiss.
Her mouth being forced open broke her train of thought.
Oh… that’s kind of unpleasant… she thought dreamily as the endotracheal tube was guided down her throat. She wanted to gag, but didn’t, and when air came again at last, it inflated her lungs even more than before.
Alright, tube… I forgive you, Natsuki thought, still dazed. She allowed herself to luxuriate in the newfound oxygen and expected the cycle to resume, but it didn’t—instead of the hands ramming her heart, she felt two familiar weights against her chest.
Natsuki steeled herself as best she could.
Please, shocky things… please work—
The defibrillation forced her eyes open for a moment. Her heart, as with every shock before, locked up and ceased its twitching. She could see her chest arching against the paddles; the large, ugly bruise that had settled between her breasts; the breathing tube taped in place at her lips, and the many medics desperately trying to save her.
Maybe she was imagining things, but… she thought they didn’t look particularly hopeful. Her organ had stilled. There was an agonal contraction after a long pause, and then it started quivering again.
Natsuki groaned. The shock had hurt like hell. And not only that, but it had failed to revive her. At the very least… the pain was evidence she was still alive. It had to be. She tried to recenter herself, but—
They must have increased the voltage. The electricity snaked through her muscles, pulling each one taut as the current leaped from one paddle to the other. Her spine bowed and her heart seized with the current. She could trace the individual nerves of the organ as they fired all at once, the muscles at their end squeezing with as much strength as they could spare. Then—as before—it relaxed and returned to spasming.
Natsuki was getting a little frustrated now. Weren’t they supposed to call out ‘clear’ or something? A little more warning would be nice…
The compressions returned, and she began to riddle over her fibrillating organ once more. There must be an issue with her nerves—they were still sending out signals, but not the right ones. That must be why her heart was shaking instead of contracting. She traced her own cardiac nerves, trying to find which ones weren’t working, not sure what she would do if she found the right one…
The paddles were placed around her heart again.
Okay… gotta focus, she thought, with newfound determination. When the shock comes, I gotta force that nerve to—
The defibrillation rocked her body. Her heart contracted; its electrical signals scrambled. Natsuki traced the current…
There!
At the top of her heart, there was an entire cluster of nerves firing all at once from the external current. One of those nerves stood out to her, and even though she couldn’t tell how… she knew that was the one.
The charge dissipated, and her heart fell still. It stayed still.
The sinking feeling from earlier came back tenfold and Natsuki fought hard to keep her head above water. She was suddenly so cold, and the sounds from outside grew ever indistinct. She could only just barely make out the team’s voices…
“Asystole…!” One attendant shouted.
“Losing her!” She heard another cry.
The sensation of the chest compressions returned to her, but numb and distant.
Her life flashed before her eyes. Memories from the early days, when her mom was still around… those fleeting peaceful moment between the shouting matches and slamming doors. She hadn’t taken Natsuki with her, when she left—and she’d always blamed herself for that.
She was a pitiful child, after all. There were the years where she barely had any friends—thin and destitute, scrounging around for whatever food that man left for her—never enough to fill her. She was reminded of learning to bake, so she wouldn’t starve over summer break, and the comics she gorged herself on to give her any sense of hope.
More recent images flashed before her. Like joining the Literature Club and meeting all of her new friends.
That man being arrested, freeing her at last.
Planning for college. Baking new things—not for survival, but for fun.
All of it so recent. And so, so short.
Natsuki suddenly saw that all she would amount to would be a girl who never got the chance to really live—who got only the smallest taste of a good life before it was cruelly snatched away.
The darkness boiled around her; the cold threatening to consume her.
No!
She was not going to die!
Natsuki desperately thrashed against the death that surrounded her. She could still feel her body—the chest compressions, the air pumped to her lungs; the faint sounds of the efforts to revive her. She pushed upward, as if swimming towards the surface of an endless lake.
Natsuki had spent years reading manga. She tended toward slice of life and comedy—stories of girls just hanging out and having a good time, but she had read a bit of everything. Horror, romance, erotica, dramas, sometimes even action/adventure, if she was feeling a bit bored of her usual fare.
She envisioned herself as the protagonists of one of these adventures. Downtrodden, bloody—but standing up and defying the odds nonetheless. The second wind was coming.
She was going to survive this.
In her mind’s eye, she wrestled with her heart; begged it function. She pleaded and coaxed, and then, she was overwhelmed by an awful, acidic burning sensation in her veins. It moved closer to her heart with each press on her sternum, and she felt sick about it, but she knew it was likely the doctors still trying to save her and tolerated it as best she could.
The drugs soon arrived at her cardiac center. Nerves, once quiet, began to fire again. Slowly at first, then swiftly gaining speed—before long, the muscles attached returned to their unconditioned shaking.
Yes! Natsuki reveled in her triumph, even though it was largely the drugs that had done the heavy lifting.
Come on! Hit me again, shocky things!
As though the team could hear her, the weights of the paddles were promptly settled onto her chest again. Natsuki readied herself, but her timing was off. The fibrillation continued, and she prepared for the next jolt.
Three, two, one…
Another current rolled through her and she rode along it, pouring every ounce of her will into forcing her heart to beat once more. The cardiac muscles tightened, then relaxed, then remained still.
The darkness swirled around her. Natsuki clung to the light.
That was supposed to work, damn it!
Time was dilating again, and the creeping coldness settling in was fogging her mind. The distance between the compressions and voices stretched on further and further, as though she were adrift at sea, being pulled further and further away by the unforgiving yet undeniably gentle tide…
She felt more acidic drugs pouring into her veins and thought—for a scant moment—that her heart would react and start spasming again. But the organ did not respond. The voices of the medics cut in and out, hazy; painfully indistinct. Despite her senses failing, she still picked up the droning cry of the monitor, a flatline certainly running across it. In her altered state, it signaled to her that there was some great, terrible predator stalking around her, waiting to take her into dissolution.
My name… she thought desperately. It’s… my name is Natsuki. I like good manga, cute things… and baking! She tightened her focus. And… I love my friends, Monika, Sayori, and Yuri. God, Yuri… if I live for anyone, it’ll be for you!
She held onto this thought loop for dear life. A shield against the tide, against the cold, against the predator stalking near… if she could just hold onto herself… her friends…
Something changed. It was hard for her to focus on other things, but this was different. The compressions had stopped, but her heart wasn’t twitching. The asystole alarm continued, although distorted, as if she was hearing it underwater.
Oh… they gave up… she thought, despondent.
After all that, despite everything, her time was up.
The immense void moved in.
Yuri…!
She was numb, completely and utterly, but… there was no doubting it. She was being cut open. She struggled to remember why that might be happening.
Was she… dead? Was this a morgue; an autopsy? Something cold forced her ribs apart, snapping them like twigs.
That hurt. That hurt!
She remembered the names of her beloved friends and focused on the pain.
If I can still feel pain… then I must be… still alive…
Something new invaded her chest. They wrapped around her heart and squeezed. Hands, maybe. Blood shot through her arteries.
Natsuki rallied.
They haven’t given up! They’re still trying!
Her mind was scattered, but she tried to focus. She centered her attention on her stubborn heart.
Come on… work! Do something!
More drugs. It all felt so terrible, but she grit her teeth and didn’t dare break her focus.
A flutter. Then another, then her whole heart was thick with fibrillation once more. She could feel it so clearly; it was injured, weakened from its ordeal. The repeated shocks, the drugs, the lack of oxygen… and something deeper.
Some small thing that had always been there.
Natsuki lacked the vocabulary for it, but she knew, more than anything, it was the root cause. It wasn’t her nerves misfiring for seemingly no reason—it was this. This little thing she didn’t have a name for.
This flaw.
Small metal discs were placed against her heart.
Mini shocky things… she thought hazily. She knew she didn’t have much fight left. The creature stalked, just outside her perception, she knew—waiting for her to slip up.
Wait for the right—
Her heart was the sun as the charge smashed into it. Even though the capacitors were smaller, it was many, many times more intense.
Natsuki shook it off and readied herself. Her heart continued to shake meaninglessly.
Heh… rule of threes, she thought wryly. It’s now or never…!
The third hit. As her nerves sparked and fired; as the cardiac muscles clinched; as blood sloshed forward from the artificial beat—Natsuki took hold of one thought and bent all her will towards its success. She screamed it, howled it, bellowed it:
BEAT!!!
The heart relaxed as the charge dissipated. It was still.
Then, a nerve fired. Others followed. The muscle contracted—dared to contract.
And again. Then it stumbled, but caught itself.
Ba-dup… ba-dup… ba-dup…
If she could, Natsuki would have collapsed out of sheer relief.
She’d lived. She’d fucking lived.
She knew that her heart was still in poor shape; that she wasn’t out of the woods just yet. But that didn’t matter.
For now, she was alive. The rest could come later.
A new darkness rose around her, a friendlier one—a blanket of simple unconsciousness. She took the offer; she was exhausted in her bones. Her friends' faces rushed past her; she’d kept them. Held on so tight. Let them guide her back to the world of the living.
“I’ll see you soon, okay…?” she murmured, too quiet and indistinct for anyone to hear.
Her heart continued to beat. It was battered… and Natsuki knew, deep down, than it wouldn’t last much longer in the grand scheme of things. But for now, it would fulfill its function. Softly, as if exhausted itself, it beat.
And Natsuki lived.

As you leaned your head back against the tree trunk, the rhythmic beat of your favorite song playing through your ears and the rest of the world canceled out, you didn’t notice the horde getting closer.
Su-hyeok was running down the hall after searching practically the entire school and still not finding you. Telling his friends he was going to go play basketball to spare himself some time to find and talk to you seemed like a good idea when the world wasn’t ending but now he was just even more lost with what he should do.
There was no way he wasn’t going to keep looking for you. No. He would rather die than leave you all alone in a zombie fucking apocalypse. Knowing you and how you shared a habit of listening to your music too loud at all times with Nam-ra, you wouldn’t hear the screams even if they were right next to your ears.
He was going to find you and keep you safe if it’s the last thing he did.
Everything seemed to be going wrong today; first, Hyeon-ju had been kidnapped by the science teacher and passed out in the middle of class; second, On-jo confesses to him on the stairway; then, he finds out his classmates have turned into blood thirsty, flesh eating monsters and he can’t seem to find you no matter where he looks.
So much for confessing on her birthday.
He had been planning the day for months.
He was going to take you to the roof - which he’d gained access to earlier that morning to put a set of picnic required items in a cooler - then he would stop you at the door after class and ask you to have lunch with him - just the two of you - which he was sure even if you were hesitant about he would be able to convince you that he didn’t care about how others saw him and you would give in.
After that, he would cover your eyes and walk you up the stairs, you would laugh that soft laugh of yours when he would purposely walk you in zig-zags and do 180s just for more time with you.
Then, he would finally lead you up to the roof where a bouquet of flowers would be resting against the wall in the corner. The two of you would eat and drink the foods he provided and he would ask you to skip the rest of the day with him to just sit on the roof and talk with each other. You would say yes, you could never say no to him and hating school was just a way to guarantee his win.
After a while, he would confess.
He would’ve already handed you the bouquet so instead he would give you your birthday present. It was a simple small heart shaped locket that he had put some dried, flattened flowers into; small ones so they could still be visible and not need to be squished down even more. The other side of the locket would be empty, if/when you accepted his confession, he was hoping you two would fill it with a photo of the two of you.
The present came with a card but he would’ve told you to open the present first. After you opened it and he placed it around your neck, his fingers lightly skimming your neck as he clicked the latch in place, he would tell you to open the card.
He drew the card himself, it was a photo of you holding a flower with the locket around your neck and a soft smile on your face. The inside was decorated with drawings of flowers that surrounded the neat handwriting which displayed his feelings like lyrics of a love song.
Just as you’d start to read it, he would start saying each word he’d written down, spending countless hours practicing the exact words he had written down in front of the mirror. In his head he would say it perfectly with no stutters or awkward pauses where he would have to try and remember the words but he was sure he would mess up in some way. You had that effect on him. You made him nervous and confident. You made him excited and calm. You made him laugh and cry.
God, he was so in love with you.
And now I might never get to tell her that.
He almost physically slapped himself at the thought, not being able to even think about the possibility of you not surviving.
He had one more stop where he thought to go, and that was the cherry blossom tree in the garden. It was where the two of you would meet for lunch on the days where he could convince you to hang out with him during school hours.
It recently became a more popular place to go since it was the time of the year where the leaves fell and cherry blossom flowers and petals littered the ground to show a beautiful yet tragic sight. Ever since more people showed up, you’d told him you shouldn’t meet there anymore. He’d felt devastated when you told him that. He was sure you’d meant you never wanted to hang out with him again until you clarified that the two of you would just have to find another secret space where you could share your private lunch times.
Finally arriving and just barely missing a zombie that was running full speed toward him through a hallway that ran perpendicular to his. Luckily for him, although it made him feel sick to his stomach, the zombie with which he’d just escaped had found another target and was running toward it, completely forgetting Su-hyeok’s existence. As he exited the school doors and went into the garden area, he saw you sitting with your head lightly bobbing and gently hitting itself against the trunk of the tree you were resting against. Your headphones were in just as he’d predicted them to be and if he weren’t in a life or death situation, he would’ve wanted to stay right there and watch you for hours.
The sun shone through the leaves of the tree above you beautifully and landed on your cheeks and made you look heavenly. Your body was dressed in your normal uniform but somehow you made it look like it was being worn by a model down a runway.
He ran toward you and grabbed your hand, quickly pulling you up despite the way you flinched and smacked his arm in fright. He started running down the opposite way he came from, this time with you in tow and him grabbing onto your hand tightly, afraid if he let go he would lose you forever. Running through the halls, the two of you arrived at the glass bridge that connected the two buildings of the school. As you ran down, you passed Nam-ra who was also unaware of the situation going on around her because of her headphones. Yanking yourself free from Su-hyeok’s grip, you ran back to grab onto her hand and pull her with you before you reconnected yours and Su-hyeok’s hands as the three of you ran.
After seeing how the school’s gardener, who’d been trimming the bushes before shit went down, fell off his ladder and onto his garden shears before being pounced on by zombies, you noticed an opportunity with the ladder. Releasing the hands of both people who protested worriedly at the loss of contact, you rushed over to grab the ladder and prop it up against the wall so the three of you could climb it into what you knew was your homeroom class. At the beginning of the year you’d placed some small stickers in the corner and they’d been there ever since. Grabbing onto the ladder, you motioned for Su-hyeok to climb up it which he started to protest to until you grabbed him by his shirt and forced him to start climbing the first couple of steps, you did the same with Nam-ra who held a look of protest on her face but did not physically or verbally state it. After both of your friends had started climbing the ladder and Su-hyeok had managed to get the window open, you started climbing yourself until you felt a grip hold onto your shoe, trying to pull you back.
You turned back to see it was the gardener who’d only been killed a minute or two ago. It made your eyes widen before you used the ladder as support behind you and kicked him in the chest using your other foot. Once he’d fallen back, you wasted no time in climbing up the ladder, especially at your friends’ panicked yells of your name. As you reached the last few steps of the ladder and Su-hyeok grabbed onto your hands, you suddenly felt the stability of the ladder beneath you falling. Using the last bit of ground, you launched yourself into the air and grabbed ahold of the edge of the window with all your might. Su-hyeok and Nam-ra rushed to pull you in.
Once you’d made it safely inside and landed on your feet, Su-hyeok started frantically searching your body for any wounds, bite or not. After satisfying himself that you only had a few bruises that looked a couple days old, he pulled you into a tight hug with his head buried into the top of your head.
“This is why I always tell you to lower your music, dumbass,” he breathed in a whisper only meant for you while he held your shaking body. For the first few minutes of running, you didn’t even know why you were running until you finally took you headphones off and looked behind you and saw the two of you being chased by students with blood running down their chins while others were eating the flesh off the bones of other students who were screaming bloody murder.
It was quite a shock.
“Yeah. Like you would have predicted this. Mr. Big Psychic Guy,” you sarcastically retorted but your voice shook and he hugged you harder.
“It’s just like Train to Busan,” Cheong-san said as he looked at his friend holding you with mixed emotions. He wasn’t sure how to feel about seeing his best friend hugging the school bully’s little sister yet.
“Holy shit,” Dae-su exclaimed as he dropped to the floor while wiping the rest of his face from the fire extinguisher’s foam.
After a while when you’d calmed down a bit and gave an appreciative smile to Su-hyeok, you noticed the group searching around for a phone.
“See if it’s there,” Wu-jin told Joon-hyeong while they searched through people’s backpacks.
“It’s not here either,” Joon-yeong groaned.
As they started talking about how the zombies weren’t able to open doors, you started walking over to your own bag before Nam-ra tugged on your sleeve. Turning around, you gave her a smile and pulled her into a hug. The other kids were too worried with their own problems and searches to notice but Su-hyeok did and he smiled before going to look for a phone with the others.
After releasing Nam-ra, you placed your hands on her upper arms and gave a comforting squeeze before going over to your own bag. Pulling out your phone, you hesitated before speaking up.
“Uh… guys,” everyone looked up at you as soon as you spoke and you held your phone up for them to see. “Here.”
Cheong-san slowly came up to you and grabbed the phone from your extended hand with a slight nod of appreciation. The phone was already unlocked when he grabbed it and he immediately went to the call app to call 112.
Cheong-san brought the phone up to his head as he called.
“Hello? This is Hyosan High School! A ton of zombies showed up at lunch, and they’re eating people.”
You slapped your head in annoyance. “Idiot, they won’t believe you if you say zombies,” you whispered to him.
“Then what?” He questioned in an annoyed voice.
“They won’t believe you!” On-jo told him and slapped his arm lightly.
“Did you happen to see the movie Train to Busan?” He asked the dispatcher and you just groaned and walked away.
Going over to sit on your desk, Su-hyeok came over to sit on Nam-ra’s which was beside you. Right as he was about to speak, all of the zombies started running in one direction.
“What?”
“Where are they going?”
“Why are they leaving?”
Everyone started speaking at once.
“They probably heard or saw someone,” you said quietly and reached into your bag to grab the pocket knife Gwi-nam gave you to put on your keychain.
“Better to always have one just in case of emergency. Just don’t get caught with it.” He’d told you as he gave you the knife along with a pepper spray that was your favorite color.
You’d kept them in your bag ever since.
Gyeong-su opened the door to look outside and Su-hyeok ran over to yank him back inside.
“What are you doing, moron? Close it!” He exclaimed and the boy complied immediately.
“Okay, fine. You scared me!” Su-hyeok slapped his back a few times to reassure himself and Gyeong-su that they were both fine.
On-jo walked over to Cheong-san with a desperate look on her face and she held her own hands to stop them from shaking. “And the police?”
Cheong-san hesitated before repeating back what the dispatcher told him. “He said they’ll come,” he sounded unsure.
“Did they believe you?” Gyeong-su asked with a hint of annoyance in his voice but you could tell it wasn’t aimed at Cheong-san. “What if they think it's a prank and decide not to come?”
“Well, then try again!” Na-yeon stood up abruptly and yelled. “And tell them to hurry up!” She yelled.
“Na-yeon,” you said in a monotone voice from your spot still sitting on your desk. She turned around to look at you and froze when she saw your blank stare. “Shut up, you’ll attract the zombies.”
Nobody could blame her for her reaction, you looked very intimidating. You were sitting on the table with your elbows supporting your body on your knees while you flicked your knife open and closed. She gulped then nodded and stopped talking. On-jo grabbed the phone from Cheong-san and called 112 again, this time with a different strategy.
“Hi. Hello, sir. Do you know Captain Nam So-ju from Rescue Team One?” She tried. You knew her father was a firefighter, having heard her talk about him as well as seen him pick her up from school in his uniform a few times.
There was a pause as the dispatcher talked on the other end of the line. The voice could be heard from him but it was too quiet to understand. “Captain Nam So-ju is my father. Please tell him to hurry over to my school.”
Su-hyeok and Gyeong-su both turned around when they heard her talking. “Who is she calling?” You could hear Gyeong-su ask but Su-hyeok just shrugged his shoulders.
“There's a fire.”
At that, everyone’s attention focused on On-jo and what she was saying.
“Hyosan High School, classroom 2-5. Hurry up. The fire is massive.”
With that, the call ended and she turned back to the rest of you. Cheong-san walked over to stand next to her and look out the window to the field where hundreds of students wandered, their souls now gone and replaced with emotionless, hungry beasts.
“No one’s coming?” Su-hyeok asked as he came up behind him. You decided you couldn’t just sit around anymore and you stood up to stand on the other side of Su-hyeok and look out the window.
As Cheong-san stayed silent, you noticed something over at the gate. It looked like a bus.
“Is that a bus?”
“I think something’s happening at the gate.”
You and Cheong-san spoke out at the same time.
Na-yeon, who had been having a panic attack and had her head in her hands for the past few minutes, stood up. “Let’s call the cops again. Get them to listen.”
On-jo looked at her with a worried expression. “I am, but they won’t pick up.”
Na-yeon breathed heavily and for a second you felt bad, feeling the need to comfort her, until she walked up to where Nam-ra was sitting with a face that arrogantly showed her blaming the situation on her.
“Hey,” she started but Nam-ra showed no reaction. “Do something. Tell Ms. Park to come and help.” Nam-ra still showed no reaction. “Do something!”
“Do what exactly?” Su-hyeok asked, absolutely done with her bullshit and how she seemed to place the blame on everyone around her.
“I don’t know. Anything!” She said desperately, her voice rising before she remembered your words and shot you an almost apologetic glance. She looked back at the girl who was still sitting, staying silent and listening to how she was being berated. “What have you done as class president?”
Min-ji grabbed onto her arm from behind her. “Stop it,” she pleaded but Na-yeon just yanked her arm away from her grip.
Nam-ra stood up and walked so she was standing directly in front of Na-yeon.
“Teacher’s office?” She asked with a hint of a mocking tone in her voice. “So you just want me to leave now?”
There was a moment of silence as the two girls glared at each other. “Well, if you’re offering.” Na-yeon said and you took a step forward before Su-hyeok placed his arm in front of you to stop you from going any further. He gave you a look and you knew almost exactly what he was saying.
Nam-ra can hold her own, she’s strong.
“You told me to do something,” Nam-ra started again. “Do you want me to leave?”
“Stop it, you two!” On-jo begged from her place in front of the window. You could see how she tried to slowly inch away from you ever so often and you just dug your nails into your palms to stop the hurt from building.
You liked On-jo. You really did. She seemed like such a good friend who, if you could get to know her and she could get to know you, the two of you would be good friends.
“She’s only saying that because you’re class president,” On-jo tried to defend Na-yeon’s words even though she didn’t really deserve it.
“Yeah. You are, right?” Dae-su asked and you just rolled your eyes as everyone started to know her as the class president and ask for her help only when the world was ending.
“So just be patient, okay?” Wu-jin jumped in and told her. Nam-ra looked over at the two of them and Wu-jin comically grabbed Dae-su’s chin and forced him to look the other way while he also did.
“So stupid,” she said, shaking her head slightly in annoyance. She shot you a look and saw you were feeling the exact same thing. Although she wouldn’t say it out loud, she was happy she had at least one person who seemed to be on her side. “Typical.”
“What’s typical?” On-jo asked and Nam-ra turned around to look at her, a sarcastic smile gracing her lips.
“Now that we are in this mess, I’m your class president?” She berated.
On-jo looked guilty at her words but she held eye-contact.
Trying to cut the tension, Su-hyeok started to mediate the situation. “We called the police, so I’m sure we’ll be fine soon.”
Na-yeon whined and jumped up and down a bit like a toddler not getting her way. “But no one’s coming!”
“Enough already. We’re all scared too!” Ji-min exclaimed, getting up from her seat and only just being stopped by Hyo-ryung and Min-ji.
“That’s why I’m telling them to call!” Na-yeon screamed back at her.
“Why don’t you do it, then?” Ji-min challenged.
“Ladies, ladies, can you just stop the whining?” Gyeong-su let out exasperatedly from his spot blocking the door. You rolled your eyes at the tone of his voice but decided not to say anything.
“Oh, now you’re butting in, shithead?” Na-yeon turned around to face him.
Okay, nevermind I’m not staying out of it.
You walked over to the two of them as Gyeong-su walked away from the door to stand in front of Na-yeon.
“What? Did you just call me a shithead? Call me a shitheaed, you shithead,” he exclaimed and Wu-jin along with Dae-su ran over to hold him back from starting a fight while Min-ji wrapped her arms around Na-yeon to do the same.
The boys holding onto Gyeong-su just told him to let it go and not listen to her while you stood a few feet away, waiting for the situation to go from bad to worse.
Su-hyeok pointed at the door while telling Gyeong-su to go back. “Hold the door. I said hold the door.”
Seeing the boys not moving, you decided to go over yourself and to hold the door when a familiar face came rushing in before closing the door behind him.
“Coach Kang,” you said.
The man’s eyes scanned the room with a suspicious look before he asked, “Are you guys okay?” A few of the students nod but most just stayed still. Kang let out a deep breath of relief before Gyeong-su ran up to him.
“What about you? You weren’t bitten?”
“No. Of course not. I’m- I’m all right,” there was something about the way he hesitated when saying he was fine that made you stand on guard and put your hand into your pocket where you stored your knife. “Hey, guys. Let’s block the door first.”
All of the students started helping push the desks in front of the door but you just stood back as you watched Kang and the way he moved, there was a slight stutter in his steps, like he was struggling for control over his body.
You started to think you were being paranoid until suddenly you heard I-sak say something to On-jo.
“On-jo, look,” she said and pointed to Coach Kang.
“What?” On-jo asked, still confused on what her friend was telling her.
“There. His arm.” She pointed right at a bite that was on his right arm and On-jo gasped.
“Coach Kang,” On-jo spoke softly. “Your arm.”
The coach just looked at them irritated. “What are you doing? Come help us!”
Knowing On-jo would have trouble with standing up against a teacher, you took the initiative to tell the others.
“Coach Kang, you have a bite on your arm!” You walked in front of the two girls and pushed them behind you while firmly gripping your knife in your pocket.
Everyone else backed away from the man as he stared at his own bite mark in shock.
“He said he wasn’t bitten,” Gyeong-su said in slight denial.
“No, no I, I wasn’t bitten,” he tried desperately to cover his arm where the bite mark was in an attempt to make it seem as if it wasn’t there. As if, if you couldn’t see it, it didn’t exist.
“It’s a bite mark,” On-jo told him.
“I said it isn’t. Don’t talk back to me. Okay?” He exclaimed, getting angrier by the second and you gently pushed the girls even further behind you.
“It looks like you were really bitten,” I-sak spoke up from behind you and you could hear the slight tremor in her voice.
“I wasn’t! How many times must I tell you?” Coach Kang yelled at her and took a step forward so you also took a step forward.
“You should go,” You told him in an strangely calm voice considering the situation.
“Then why the hell are you hiding it? Just show it to us!” I-sak spoke up again and Kang tried to step around you but you just pushed him back by his shoulders and he stumbled for a second before regaining his balance.
“Why… you little bitch. How dare you disrespect me!”
I-sak took a step forward and grabbed your arm to pull you back a bit. Her voice got more quiet as she spoke again. “I think you should leave right now.”
“What?”
“Get out of here immediately.”
“You want me to go out there?” He pointed toward the door where a few zombies walked past the window. “After all I did to get here? You want me to go back out?”
“You were bitten,” she said while breathing heavily in fear. “Come on, get out.” There was a moment of silence before she yelled, “I said get out now!”
“Cocksucker! How dare you yell at me like that?” He stared at her as he spoke and his face continuously got sweatier as the seconds passed. As he took a step forward, On-jo pulled I-sak back as you took a step forward to protect them. You were unknowing to the faces of the girls behind you as you were too busy protecting them but they were shocked. They thought you would be more like your brother who would only care about his own safety - along with yours, everyone knew how overprotective he was of you - but here you were, protecting them with your life. Coach Kang looked at you with annoyance but focused his attention on I-sak.
“You little… Get over here. Come here,” He seemed to be getting angrier and everyone was on edge. “Now!” I-sak continued to remain still. “You won’t come? Hey.” He started advancing forward and Su-hyeok rushed forward to push you back as Dae-su went to push Kang back but was held back by Wu-jin.
“Get the fuck back,” you yelled at him as he tried to get around you and Su-hyeok tried to pull you back.
“You know, you have been getting on my nerves. How dare you not listen to me. I am your teacher and I demand respect!” He yelled at you.
“Respect is earned motherfucker. I won’t respect you until you show me you deserve it,” you told him and he looked positively fuming.
“You will respect me!” He took a step forward as you were yanked back by Su-hyeok who was pulled back by On-jo who looked at the two of you with a weird gleam in her eyes. Suddenly, his nose started bleeding and he turned away as he wiped it away.
Before you could stop her, On-jo ran from behind you and hit the man over the head with a backpack.
He turned around with a silent anger. Cheong-san pulled On-jo behind him as Kang started walking toward her. “You fucking bitch,” he spoke, raising his hand like he was going to slap her before falling flat on his face.
“I think he really was bitten,” Gyeong-su said stupidly and you just looked at him with an exasperated look. “Guys, we should get out of here as soon as possible.”
Kang twitched on the ground and you tried to pull away from Su-hyeok to go toward him and prepare to stab him but Su-hyeok wrapped his arms around your waist and shoulders and you couldn’t move no matter how you squirmed.
“Hey. Hey! He’s turning!”
The coach’s bones cracked and crunched as he rolled around on the floor and turned from one type of monster to another.
“Get him out of here! Hurry!” Na-yeon yelled as she shut her eyes closed tightly and covered her ears. For once you agreed with her and couldn’t find it in you to tell her to shut up. “Hurry! Throw him out!”
The coach had finally fully turned and started crawling toward Min-ji before standing up and lunging at her completely, latching his teeth onto her cheek and not letting go until he was pulled off by Dae-su who tried desperately to save his friend as she screamed in agony.
Dae-su threw Kang into the drawers on the wall of the class room and he rolled around while readjusting his bones.
Still struggling against Su-hyeok’s grip, you started thrashing around but he held strong.
“Dae-su… I can’t…” Min-ji started and you felt tears well up in your eyes as you thrashed harder. You never really knew the girl but she didn’t deserve this, that’s for sure. “I don’t want to die…”
The zombified coach stood up and Su-hyeok gently tossed you to the side as he lunged straight for the two of you. He swiftly dodged the attacks of the man as everyone screamed. Disorientated from the lack of hold of his arms, it took you a minute to regain your balance and try to help the best you can and yet before you could Su-hyeok was holding you back again. Cheong-san quickly picked up a desk and used it to slam Kang into the wall, gathering the help of Gyeong-su who helped hold him there.
As Min-ji kept begging for help, Na-yeon scurried to the pile of desks and chairs and started pulling them away from the door so she could get out.
For once, not a bad idea.
You were worried when you saw Min-ji get up to walk after her and gasped when Na-yeon kicked her back so she fell to the floor. There, she started having the same experience as the previous person on the floor as her nose started bleeding and her bones started to crack. Her eyese went red as she reached for Dae-su before she fell to the ground. She suddenly jumped up and lunged at Dae-su but was apprehended quickly by him as he begged her to stop, nearly crying at the loss of his friend.
“We gotta go,” Su-hyeok exclaimed as he continued to hold you back. You’d started hitting him and only were released when you kicked his shin a little too hard and he fell to the floor for a moment. You ran over to where Cheong-san and Gyeong-su were holding the zombified Coach Kang and helped push the desk into him while hurriedly reaching into your pocket.
Everyone started chasing after Na-yeon who had gotten the door opened and was running out. On-jo, Su-hyeok, and the three of you pushing the table into the man against the wall were the last ones in the classroom and you exclaimed a small noise of victory as you’d finally gotten the knife out of your pocket and opened it.
Curse you Gwi-nam, why’d you have to give me a complicated one?
Stabbing the knife into the head of the coach, he dropped dead but before you could indulge in your victory you were getting pulled out of the classroom, you knife forgotten behind in the skull of your previous P.E. teacher.
Su-hyeok shut the doors behind him and the group moved together down the hall toward the stairs until everyone stopped and you ran into Cheong-san’s back. Before you could even realise what was going on, Su-hyeok ran up to the front and did a flying kick into one of the zombies. Not allowing yourself to be useless and let a man of all people show you up, you ran up to the front as well and threw, kicked, and punched the zombies as much as you could, keeping them away from the group while simultaneously making sure you yourself were safe. You allowed yourself to check on Su-hyeok every other second to make sure he was also okay until a zombie somehow had gotten past the two of you and started sprinting towards the group. Running as fast as you could, you tackled the zombie right before it was able to get to Na-yeon who had been crawling backwards after falling to the ground when the zombies first arrived. Another zombie ran toward you and you had to fend off the two of them by yourself, unable to gain assistance from Su-hyeok who was also in a sticky predicament himself.
“Well shit. I never thought I would die from a zombie apocalypse but I guess here we are,” you thought to yourself as you felt your arms get tired and the mouth of the zombie who was on top of you get closer to your arm.
Suddenly, the zombie was struck by something hard in the head and then smacked again so it fell to the floor. You looked up to see Cheong-san was the one who saved you and Gyeong-su ran up to Su-hyeok with a window - the same weapon you now knew Cheong-san used - to help him out. The ones holding the windows ran toward the small herd of zombies and used them as a barricade to hold them off while Dae-su had grabbed a whole classroom door.
“Hey! Get out of the way!” He screamed at the boys and started running toward the herd, swinging the door horizontally and using it as a larger barricade.
Running toward the boys, you slammed into the door as well to push and help them move the zombies backward. The girls looked slightly ashamed that they hesitated to follow after your example.
Turning the corner, the zombies were stuck at the top of the stairs of the floor you were on.
“Girls, upstairs!” Wu-jin screamed at you all and you just rolled your eyes as you forcefully grabbed the back of his shirt and pushed him toward the stairs.
“You first, dumbass!” You retaliated and he wasn’t sure what to say. The rest of the girls sprinted up the stairs as you pushed as hard as you could and were able to successfully knock all the zombies down the small flight of stairs before grabbing two random hands and dragging them toward the stairs as you forced them to go up. Making sure everyone was able to go up the stairs, you almost groaned in annoyance as you saw Su-hyeok, once again, practically sacrificing himself and kicking the zombies. As he fell over, you grabbed his hand and pulled him up before sprinting up the stairs before the zombies could regain control. You couldn’t see it with your eyes focused on the stairs in front of you and how you avoided the miscellaneous zombies as you dragged Su-hyeok behind you, but he was watching you in awe as he had never fully realized the full capacity of your strength.
As you were right behind Wu-jin who had stopped to push back a few zombies with the window piece he had, he got pushed toward the stairs as you started fighting the zombies expertly, avoiding their mouths while keeping the upper hand. Su-hyeok ignored the way you’d yelled at him to follow the others and started helping you kick the zombies back down before grabbing your arm to pull you up the stairs.
As a zombie launched itself at you while you climbed, it attached itself to your foot and you fell over, just barely being able to kick its face away from your ankle where it was aiming to bite you. Cheong-san had seen how you were down and how Su-hyeok had fallen with you.
“Su-hyeok!” He screamed in concern.
Said boy looked up at him before looking back at you and how you kicked the beast away. “Go to the science lab! Now!” He yelled back at him and Cheong-san hesitated before complying. Su-hyeok pulled you up and kicked another zombie away from the two of you before it breached the area where you considered yourself to be relatively safe. The two of you ran hand in hand up the stairs where you saw Su-hyeok’s friends being cornered between two hoardes of zombies. Before you could think to help in anyway, you were tackled from behind, your grip on Su-hyeok’s hands being pulled harshly away.
Su-hyeok’s eyes widened exponentially when he saw how you got attacked and was able to use his quick thinking to pull the monster off just before its teeth could latch onto your neck. Now only worried about your safety as he saw the group run into a classroom that the outside was still covered by zombies with, he grabbed your hand once more, pulling you up and silently apologizing when he heard you wince before pulling you into a room a few doors down from the science room.
The art room.
Ducking down before the zombies in the room could see you and both of you covering your mouths with your hands to quiet your panting, you ducked behind some very well placed desks and filing cabinets on wheels.
After a while of just sitting down and your breathing calming down, Su-hyeok pointed over to where the windows were. You shot him a hesitant glance but knew it was the both of your guys best shots at surviving and making it out of this blood stained room.
Just as Su-hyeok started to move, the speakers started squealing and you both covered your ears from how loud it was. Suddenly, the familiar voice of your teacher Ms. Park filled the classroom as well as the halls.
“Students and teachers of Hyosan High School. I'm Park Sun-hwa, the English teacher. Something strange is happening throughout the school. Some students are attacking others indiscriminately, so please flee and find a safe place. If any student or faculty hears this and is able to, please call the police and the fire department. Students, hide somewhere safe until help arrives. If you can get out of the school, please get out,” her voice started to shake and you felt horrible. This must be terrible for her too. “I'll say it again. Some students are…” She let out a few shaky breaths and Su-hyeok grabbed your hand with a firm but gentle grip, squeezing slightly to reassure you.
“Hey, everyone…” She started again, her voice becoming less professional and now more caring and loving like the teacher you’d come to know. “You're okay, right? You're not hurt? I don't know what's going on in here or how this whole thing happened, but... Still, find a safe place and hide. I… I'm sorry… I can't help.” She started sobbing and despite keeping your face emotionless you could feel a single tear fall down your cheek. “Don't get hurt, okay? Please, let's stay alive and meet again. Okay?”
Let’s meet again.

After a long night of hanging out, talking and just watching the movie, Soobin kindly dropped you off at your house as promised. With a head full of thoughts, it distracted you so much that you didn’t see where you were going; causing you to bump into a chest when you were near the entrance to the apartment building.
‘’ Sorry, ‘’ he grunted.
You were about to respond, but when your head snapped up as you were apologising profusely you swear your heart skipped a beat.
‘’ Jake? ‘’
He smiled and tried to go in for a hug. When he was pushed away hard on his chest and it caused him to stumble he scowled at you.
‘’ Why the fuck are you here? ‘’
‘’ Just…hung out with your dad. ‘’
The amused tone in his voice enraged you. In seconds your fists grabbed onto his collar and trying to intimidate him, tugged him towards you.
‘’ Y/n? ‘’
Your burning eyes softened. Searching for the owner of yet another familiar voice, it soon landed on the entrance where you poor dad stood, looking confused and slightly embarrassed.
He gave you a stern look before marching over, pulling your hands away with great force and standing in between you and Jake so he could bow his head.
‘’ I’m so, so sorry. I- she’s not usually like this. ‘’
A crooked smile slowly crept on your bully’s face, only you could see the disingenuity behind it.
‘’ I know. We’re usually very close, we just had a small disagreement.‘’
‘’ Dad! He’s not my friend, he’s the one that has been bullying me. ‘’ you said exasperatedly, hoping to get through to your dad with those words.
‘’ This guy? ‘’
It was almost laughable how hard Jake was putting on a show, blinking his enlarged puppy eyes at your dad while his lips had an offended pout on it. What a shame he was so fucking good at it.
‘’ Yes, I know that he looks…’’ you grimaced, ‘’ Innocent and sweet but he’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing, he- he has kissed me before, without my consent. ‘’
You ignored the way he lit up at your compliment and he seemed to really struggle to not show it while your dad was still watching him, the only sign was the corner of his lips tugging upwards for a split second.
With your dad’s back turned to you there was no way for you to tell if your dad believed your words. But you could sense that there must’ve been some hint of acceptance there because Jake panicked, hurrying to speak before you or your dad did.
‘’ Sir, I’ve been really worried about y/n recently. With her mother in the hospital, she’s been kind of off…’’ you mouth hung open at the scene unfolding in front of you, he really wasn’t giving up.
‘’ She has been confusing me with her actual bully, Soobin who transfered not that long ago, along with this girl. ‘’ he gestured towards your arms, feigning a distraught look. ‘’ They did that to her. They left her in pain and with those scars. ‘’
He pretended to choke up, sighing and looking away from the audience.
‘’ And it breaks my heart that she doesn’t recognize m- ‘’
A cry broke from your lips as Jake was cut off mid sentence. A fist had swung and hit him right in the nose, and when he raised his head you could see blood trickling from it.
‘’ Dad! ‘’ you gasped, both impressed and pleasantly surprised.
Like the crybaby he was, he took a few steps back and then crouched down, pressing his hands to his dripping nose while glaring at you two. Your smile faded when your eyes met, he was even angrier than the last time you swore that was the angriest he’d ever looked. His hands were shaking and he was breathing heavily. You swallowed thickly. What would this mean for your dad? Would he try to get revenge on him too now?
‘’ Let’s go, y/n. ‘’
Your dad dragged you away by the arm, continuing to do so despite your protests and attempts to get out of his grasp. Knowing Jake well enough by now, you knew that if you comforted him and apologized, maybe even hugged and kissed him - then, he maybe wouldn’t hit back. But your dad didn’t even let you try this time, leaving you with a horrible sense of dread at the pit of your stomach as you ascended the stairs.
‘’ You should get in before he comes back. ‘’
You followed your dad into the apartment. Your two distinct moods were pretty apparent to one another. He looked worried and at the same time determined, not an ounce of regret present on his face; you on the other hand, kept your head down, a different kind of worry gnawed on the inside causing you to sit on the couch with a somewhat dead look in your eyes.
You sitting there and staring straight ahead for a very long time made your dad come over, a growing concern having taken ahold of him.
‘’ Hey, y/n? ‘’
You almost had to tear your eyes away from the wall you’d been staring at.
‘’ I’m sorry about that. I hope I didn’t cause any more troubles for you at school, ‘’ he hesitated, ‘’ Did I? ‘’
Robotically your head shook no, although your true feelings were quite different. Knowing he couldn’t do anything to help you anyway, there was no need for him to know anything, right? He’d just worry even more, and he had too many things on his plate as it was already.
‘’ Okay, good good. ‘’ he mumbled, appearing to be stuck in his own head too.
In an attempt to lighten the mood and get you both to think of something else, your dad reached out for the TV-remote and put on a show that faded into the background for you.
‘’ I need to go do homework. ‘’
Your dad nodded but couldn’t help but look after you as you left, a look full with somberness. Well inside the room, you walked over to the wall with the post-it notes. It looked as empty as it had been last time you wrote anything on it.
Now you had more info. Walking over to the desk, you scribbled some words down and hung it up next to the others. Then you moved that one and added seven more notes, all with their names, figuring it would be better to separate the things you knew by person.
Under Jay you added the note that read - dad is the mayor of Seoul. Sunghoon, Sunoo and Jungwon were the only ones except for Jay that had a note, and that irritated you. Sunoo’s read - gave information in the past, someone we can use? While Sunghoon and Jungwon’s said - has my number.
A heavy sigh sounded in the room as you scanned over the other names. Heeseung, nothing yet. Jake, nothing, Ni-ki…Ni-ki? You hurried to the table. With a new note in your hand, you almost ran to the wall eagerly and added the information you got from Sunoo regarding his childhood, adding the same under Sunoo’s.
The fact was that you knew more about those two than the others. While staring at Sunoo’s name you hoped to yourself that it’d be as easy to get more information out of him as the first time. Maybe giving some clues about the other guys so Soobin wouldn’t have to work as hard.
Once you realised you couldn’t really add anything to the wall for now, you finally sat down at the desk to catch up on all the schoolwork you had neglected the past week. The phone that laid nearby was a powerful distraction to the math you tried very hard to get immersed in. You kept glancing at it, hands clenching the pen in your hand in anxiety at the possibility of them texting you since they could unfortunately do that now.
Almost as if you’d manifested it, the phone pinged after about the tenth time you peeked at it. It was impossible to miss, in the darkened room it lit up and the display shone at you brightly.
A quick breath was released before you dared to pick it up. Both disappointment and relief filled you instead as the notification was just from an app. The radio silence from the guys felt a bit unnerving. Had he even told them? What were they talking about? Were they angry, would they text- no, you had to stop letting your mind wander. There was no point in trying to somehow read their minds through telepathy, it would only serve to increase the worry.
You looked at the neglected homework and reluctantly pushed it away once again, opting instead for a good night’s rest.
*******
The next day was Sunday. Normally you’d go to weekend-school to do some extra work but after last night’s run in with Jake, you decided to do what Soobin had told you to do, stay at home.
8:17 am
You: Soobin? I thought about what you said and I won’t come to the academy today. Do you think you’ll be okay on your own?
Cousin: I’m glad you trusted me :)
Cousin: I will be okay. Maybe I could try to get closer to them today?
You: Yeah. I kinda expect them to since I’m not there. They might ask about me, especially since,
You: Well…
He didn’t reply right away so you exited the messages and instead went to email. During last night, Soobin suggested that you could hire a private investigator. He emailed a suggested official website where you could easily get all kinds of people willing to help with anything, and he even offered to pay for you.
Soobin had said that his dad used it in the past, when trying to find proof of infedelity in his marriage so he’d seen first-hand how it worked. They never asked too many questions or reported anything since they had their own interests. The one he chose was a corrupted cop, working on the side for extra pocket-money. In the end, he proved to be a good choice as he did find proof and the divorce was finalized.
You scrolled down the long list of names, thumb stopping and hovering over one in particular - Choi Hyuntae, Kim Doyun, Park Chaewoo, Kang Siwoo, Lee Seoyun, Yang Yena…
With swift fingers you clicked to message the person. The probability of you choosing her was low, but curiosity lead you astray for a moment.
8:20 am
You: Yena? Why are you on this website? / from, y/n
A whole minute passed before you got a response.
Unknown number: Y/n? Wtf are you doing here?
You: Answer me first
Unknown number: I recently passed the exam. I’m a cop now.
You: And you’re already corrupt…
Unknown number: Just trying to survive like everyone else. Your turn to answer.
You: I was looking for someone to help me with the situation at school.
You hesitated before giving the truth. But it wouldn’t be the biggest deal if she told Jungwon, you hadn’t even done anything yet and if they confronted you, you could always make them think you had no power to do anything anyway. Your scars hadn’t itched in a few hours, maybe if they did you’d be reminded of the pain and shy away from just jumping into action.
Unknown number: You mean my brother and his friends?
You: Yeah.
Unknown number: I could help you with that. I hate him and have always wanted to take him down. I guess this is fate, huh?
You: Why do you hate him though? Except for his personality ofc.
Unknown number: I was always second best, in school, in looks, in talents and personality etc. Jungwon has dreams of becoming a singer, I guess they found his dream a lot better than mine too. Besides, they only wanted sons anyway.
You: Sorry to hear that. I guess I could give you a chance, but I don’t trust you yet so don’t expect too much.
Unknown: I won’t
You: If you have a car, we can meetup tonight at 9pm in that abandoned parking lot by the beach, the one a bunch of highschoolers used to drive to when they ditched school.
You: Do you know it?
Unknown: I think so. See you there!
It was a bit reckless to decide to meet up just like that, without even consulting with Soobin. Him being away left you feeling bored and restless. You wanted very badly to make moves as well, but you couldn’t go to the academy. Finally he did eventually answer, redirecting your attention elsewhere.
8:22 am
Cousin: Well what???
You: I did something stupid. Jake was in my apartment while I was at your house. I told dad that he bullied me and he punched him.
Cousin: WHAT? Y/n!
You: Sorry…Can you deal with the mess tho?
Cousin: I can try :/
Cousin: I’ll keep in touch during the day. Why the fuck was he there though?
While reading the texts from Soobin, your smile faded away. You realized you had never asked your dad about it. Surely there was a reason right?
‘’ Dad? ‘’
‘’ In the kitchen, honey! ‘’
You ran there.
‘’ Did Jake say why he was here yesterday? ‘’
The typing on the computer stopped for a few seconds. A low hum came from his throat as he rubbed his beard.
‘’ He did…I think- yeah, he said it was because you got injured during P.E and missed out on the last lesson. So he wanted to give you the notes. ‘’
‘’ Did you not question it? I haven’t told you I have any friends. ‘’
‘’ You know your school is on the way to my office. I look through the gates sometimes. ‘’ he shrugged.
‘’ Did you see me? ‘’
‘’ Many times. After school, I saw you once with some guy but I could only see the back. ‘’
‘’ Soobin. ‘’ you mumbled to yourself.
‘’ I got the wrong guy? ‘’
You hummed. ‘’ Seems so.
‘’ Can you blame me? I saw that same guy be surrounded by a bunch of guys before that, could’ve all been twins to an old man like me. ‘’
His voice slowly dimmed in the background of the new stream of thoughts inside your head. Wait, was he talking about Soobin? With a bunch of guys…
‘’ If you ask me, everyone looks the sa- ‘’
‘’ Dad! Do you think at least one of the guys could’ve been Jake? ‘’ you interrupted.
He was caught off guard by your rapid question and took a bit to recollect his thoughts.
‘’ Possibly. ‘’
Shit. Why was Soobin with them? You felt a bitter taste take place in your mouth. The phone in the backpocket of your jeans was fished up as you contemplated texting him and asking him head on. But that seed of mistrust you always had inside, stopped you from doing so.
It had gotten watered again after having been kept away the more Soobin got you to trust him. Now it was growing, like it had never stopped. Was he two-timing you? You squeezed your hands around your phone, to the point your arm started shaking.
‘’ Honey, are you alright? ‘’
You snapped back and gasped when you realized what you were doing. With an awkward laugh you nodded and smiled, hurrying next to leave quickly so you could lock yourself up in your room.
Had Jake been in your room? You tried to take your mind off of Soobin by ravaging through your stuff to see if there was any trace of him. Then, a deeply unsettling thought popped into your head. In seconds you were at the drawers, pulling them out and throwing things around.
Oh no, that fucking pervert! You counted your underwear over and over. No matter how many times you did so, it didn’t add up - something was missing. Boiling with rage you took out your phone and without thinking, you called Sunghoon.
He picked up on the fifth dial, sounding brash even from the get-go.
‘’ Hey, sweetheart. ‘’
‘’ Sunghoon! Put Jake on the phone, now! ‘’ you yelled.
He didn’t question it or joke around more, probably hearing the anger radiating in your voice. A small laugh slipped out before muffled sounds followed and Jake finally was put on the phone.
‘’ Jake? ‘’
‘’ Yeah? ‘’
‘’ What the fuck did you do in my room? ‘’
The line went quiet, but you heard a few snickers in the background. If he had put it on speaker for everyone to hear, it would solely serve to make you even angrier. You weren’t even sure where all this newfound confidence and boldness came from, or if you’d regret it soon enough. Now all that mattered was your anger, and only that.
‘’ I- uh…what do you mean? ‘’
‘’ Don’t you dare try to play dumb! ‘’ you screamed.
Jake chuckled. ‘’ I don’t have to tell you anything after what you did to me. ‘’
‘’ You deserved so much worse than that. ‘’
He hummed.
‘’ Maybe. But thank you babe, I’ll have fun tonight. ‘’
You screamed in frustration again which doubled when you heard they hung up. You couldn't even retaliate or cuss them out. Falling back onto the soft cushion on the bed, you stared up at the ceiling, almost struggling to breathe properly.
The phone pinged.
8:21 am
Cousin: I’m here. What do you want me to do?
Glaring at the screen, you couldn’t help but feel angry at Soobin even though it wasn’t his fault this time either. For some reason you kept imagining that he was probably looking at his phone while the guys over his shoulder all laughed, calling you all sorts of names and coming up with more plans on how to torture you further.
But another part of you came to the conclusion that you’d have to confront him and talk about it like an adult, because it could still be a misunderstanding; you didn’t want to give more life to the seed of doubt and falsely lash out on him again.
You huffed, but replied for now as if you were completely oblivious about what your dad had told you. Likely, you’d talk to him about it later. But it would be even better if he could get you proof that it was all a misunderstanding without you telling him. Your reasoning for this was that if it was one and you had confronted him, it would probably break his heart that you got suspicious of him again. Problem was, you had no idea how he could give you proof without you mentioning any of that.
After some pondering, laying on the bed and letting the silence make brainstorming happen, you settled on the first somewhat decent idea you came up with, voice notes. It could potentially mean you could hear in the others’ voices if they were acting or not.
But god, you hoped with every fiber in you that Soobin was still someone you could trust and that he was in no way affiliated with your abusers.
8:24 am
You: Could you voice record the whole thing?
Cousin: Sure!
And now you just had to wait.
*******
The time you spent in the car wasn’t very pleasant. Most of the day was spent finally being able to get into the zone long enough to finish your schoolwork. Soobin had texted about five minutes before you left to go meet Yena, saying that he had the recording and that he wanted to listen to it together.
You told him you were meeting Jungwon’s sister, which quite expectedly made him freak out a little. He was probably on his way now and you hoped he wouldn’t jeopardize the meetup.
A white honda pulled into the parking lot a few minutes past 9pm. It went round in circles near the entrance a few times. Then the driver seemed to spot your car as it slowly started making its way over.
When it reversed into the empty square next to you, you craned your neck to see the person behind the wheel. You breathed out in relief upon seeing it was Yena like you had thought. For some reason, you always felt like they were watching you and half expected one of them to pull up, either instead of Yena or behind her.
Now that you knew that wasn’t the case, you unlocked the car and gestured for her to get into the front seat of your car. Getting out in the parking lot didn’t seem as safe or discreet, especially in case they did follow her here.
She got in and immediately reeked of pure business. No unnecessary politeness or small talk, just straight into it, ‘’ What do you want me to do? ‘’
Your eyes widened. ‘’ Not even a hi or how are you? ‘’
She just stared at you blankly and you had to look away, getting an awful sense of déjà-vu under her unsettling and very familiar gaze.
‘’ I’m still a cop working full-time, ‘’ she paused, looking a bit more relaxed. ‘’ Sorry, I just always seem to have my hands full. ‘’
‘’ Tough cases lately? ‘’
Yena nodded, looking quite gloomy all of a sudden. But you didn’t press further, agreeing it was best for the both of you to get right into it. You dug in your backpack and taking out a bulky camera, you handed it to her. She started turning it and inspecting it until you had managed to lay out all the equipment on the dashboard.
‘’ It’s not the best. Just an old camera my dad has used in the past, only one I could find. ‘’
She put the camera to her eye and started twisting the lens, playing around with the abilities of it. ‘’ It works just fine. You don’t need anything too expensive. ‘’
‘’ Okay, that’s good to hear. ‘’
‘’ So what do you need me to do? Follow that little asshole and his friends around and take pictures of them? ‘’
‘’ Yeah, pretty much. ‘’
‘’ That’s…kinda creepy, I like it. Anything else? ‘’ a small grin spread on her ruby lips.
‘’ Anything that seems relevant. Like their families- ‘’ you paused and licked your lips, watching her reaction closely, but her expression remained unchanged. ‘’ Things I can use against them. ‘’
‘’ You’re getting revenge. ‘’
‘’ Yeah. ‘’
She laughed loudly.
‘’ And you have no choice but to trust me or? ‘’
‘’ I don’t know. I could’ve picked someone else on that website. I guess a familiar face feels more comfortable. ‘’
‘’ I’m his sister though. If I were you I wouldn’t trust people that easily, even though I am telling the truth. ‘’
‘’ I don’t, and that has been a problem in the past. I need to be a bit more open to people. Let’s say you did tell him, ‘’ you imagined yourself in that scenario, thinking about what you’d truthfully most likely do.
‘’ What can he do? I mean I can run away, move schools or…something. It’s not like I’ve done much anyway. Or I can pretend I’m in love with them and super regretful about what I tried to do. ‘’
She looked amused and you could see why. The anger from Jake escalating things and getting into your personal space like that had made you be a lot more impulsive. You felt like you didn’t have much time. As if there was some kind of timebomb to something, but you didn’t know what.
All you knew was that it wasn’t completely crazy to think and feel the way you did. They had started closing the circle around you. Meeting outside of school, getting your number, visiting your mom in the hospital, and then going to your apartment to take your things. What would they do next?
There was a feeling that if you didn’t make a move now, however hasty and reckless, you’d never get the chance to even try. You weren’t sure if that was weird paranoia making you try to predict the future or a good intuition knowing what storm was heading towards you.
‘’ They’re probably worse than you think, sweetheart. But okay, I’ll try my best and hopefully the hard work I put in and all the material I will give you, will make you trust me. ‘’
‘’ I don’t have to trust you. I have nothing to lose. ‘’
Yena raised her eyebrows.
‘’ Yes you do. ‘’
You bit your lips guilitly, knowing she was right. But the one who has nothing to lose, is the one who is more likely to win. Fake it till you make it.
‘’ When can you get me the first pictures? ‘’ you attempted to change the subject.
‘’ On Wednesday. Try not to die before then, I heard Jungwon talking about you with them today. ‘’
‘’ What? What did they say? ‘’
‘’ They all came over after the academy. I didn’t hear much except for your name and Jake, those were said a lot. ‘’ she shrugged.
You hummed. ‘’ Okay, I’ll try not to. See you then, same time and same place? ‘’
‘’ Sure thing. ‘’
She left and you got your phone out to call Soobin. You had noticed a car parking a few spaces away from you, only too far away for the driver to be visible. Just as the phone was picked up, you could see movement in that other car.
‘’ Hello? ‘’
‘’ Are you here? ‘’
‘’ How did you know? ‘’ he gasped dramatically.
‘’ You weren’t very discreet,  ‘’ you sighed, but a small smile tugged at your lips.
‘’ Sit in my car so we can talk. ‘’
‘’ It’s kinda cooler like this though, on the phone. It’s like we’re secret agents. ‘’
‘’ Soobin! ‘’
‘’ Sorry, sorry! I’m coming. ‘’
You shook your head at the sight of him getting out of the car you thought he was in. He looked very funny while running over, hunched over and trying to look in all directions when running which caused him to almost stumble several times.
‘’ Hey. ‘’
‘’ Hi. Hurry. ‘’
You locked the door when he was in. The immediate silence after the car door closing made it echo felt a bit awkward, but he looked as happy as ever to see you. That’s when you remembered what your dad had said that same morning.
Soobin noticed the way a scowl slowly crept up on the friendly face you first wore when he got in. He felt a bit self-conscious, thinking that he did something wrong.
‘’ Are you…okay? ‘’
‘’ My dad told me something very interesting about you today. ‘’
He gulped, almost feeling like he wanted to press himself against the door so he could get away from your angry self.
‘’ He said that he saw you with my bullies. ‘’
Soobin went quiet.
‘’ Soobin? ‘’
His face grew pale as he struggled to speak. ‘’ I-I, no! It’s not what you think, y/n! ‘’
‘’ Then tell me. ‘’
He tried reaching out for your hands, expecting you to withdraw them and was surprised when you didn’t. You let him hold you if it helped alleviate some of his sudden anxiety so he could tell you the truth.
‘’ I…went to go talk to them to tell them to leave you alone. ‘’
‘’ What? ‘’
He looked very ashamed.
‘’ It was after the first day, when you showed me your scars. We barley knew each other then, but I- I shouldn’t have, I know. ‘’
You almost felt too stunned to speak. All the questions you wanted to ask didn’t want to come out smoothly and you weren’t even sure what to feel. Were you still angry or suspicious of him or - did you feel a bit grateful?
‘’ I did it quickly while waiting for you after school. Remember, you went to the bathroom? They walked right past me and I couldn’t stop myself. I guess they didn’t want you to hear, so I was practically dragged or pushed out to the front of the school. ‘’
‘’ What did they say? ‘’ you asked after he answered your first question.
‘’ Threatened me. Said they knew who my dad was and that Jay could get my dad fired. ‘’
‘’ Why didn’t you tell me this? ‘’
Your groan of frustration was so loud it made Soobin jump. He looked at you, his doe eyes begging for mercy almost as if you were a hunter and was about to take his life. Maybe there was some truth to that, you had the small urge to shake some sense into him and also quite literally choke him in anger.
The plan had quite literally fallen into pieces, the plan that was just made. Now you had to come up with a new one quickly.
‘’ They knew we’ve been friends since the fucking beginning, you sat there with me to come up with a plan and immediately agreed to what I said! ‘’
‘’ I thought I could somehow pull it off and still be useful even if they knew. I would just…find a way, ‘’ he trailed off.
His head had started to hang in shame now, too embarrassed and guilty to look at you. Without doing so, it was still pretty obvious how you were feeling on the inside. He’d likely feel the same if he were you which meant he was well aware that this wasn’t a good look for him at all.
‘’ If you don’t want to be friends anymore, I get it okay- I just, I want to help you. I can promise you that. ‘’
You scoffed.
‘’ It would’ve been a lot better if you were just honest from the beginning. I wouldn’t have cared about your mistake. ‘’ not even giving him a chance to respond, you continued, ‘’ But I guess I have no choice now. For all I know I have two backstabbers by my side, so who cares? ‘’
Soobin sensed the bitterness in your words. He hoped that despite whatever was going on would be solved soon and hoped even more that you hadn’t given up. It was stupid not to tell you, he admitted that. For some reason he was confident it would never get brought up; at the same time, he was happy it did right now and not later when the bullies could’ve used that lie to turn you against him.
‘’ I hope I can earn your trust back. ‘’
You didn’t say anything. His explanation made sense, no matter how angry you were, especially when Yeonjun’s words echoed inside your head. It seemed to be perfectly in character for him. So just before he stepped out of the car, looking very sad, you smiled at him.
His eyes grew twice in size, but he didn’t get to say anything because you gestured for him to get out, not that he’d have the right words anyway. He stood there dumbfounded, staring after your car even as you left.
‘’ What’s wrong? ‘’
His eyes hadn’t widened due to your smile, but something standing in the shadows.
‘’ Y/n…’’
‘’ What’s wrong? ‘’
Terror flashed across his face, and he choked out breathlessly,
‘’ He’s watching me. ‘’

Can you do something for D:BH where reader is just very unresponsive to most things, like most things don’t get a reaction out of her, she just stares at you like you’re stupid, or like she wants you to leave.
So the characters think they’re kinda rude at first, but THEN they see the reader around their sibling and their completely different.
A 180 of a personality, all smiles and jokes once she’s around her family. (With Jericho Crew if you can!)
anon, i am so sorry it took me so long to answer this note: reader is an android
Better Together
Markus
He was used to androids being ambivalent about his presence
There was something about you that drew him in though
Most androids came to him alone while others came in groups
You were alone whenever he saw you, always with a disgruntled look on your face when he asked you if you needed anything
One day, he happened to see you sitting alone
it's not like he was watching you or anything
And it's like your entire appearance lights up once your eyes meet someone else's. He'd never seen a brighter smile, and his bioregulator skipped a beat
You pull them into a hug, and his heart breaks a little bit
North immediately notices his forlorn look and informs him that you came with a sibling
North
North was definitely less welcoming to your ambivalence and empty stares
Definitely interpreted the looks you gave her as disdain
Definitely tried to figure out wtf she did to make you dislike her so... definitely hurt her own feelings by overthinking
That is, until your siblings comes to Jericho and she sees the flip switch inside you
You're bubbly and cracking jokes. It's unlike anything she's sen before, and she'd give anything to see it again
Definitely corners your sibling and interrogates them on how to get on your good side
Josh
The type of guy to always have his eyes on you but never actually talk to you
He also has rbf so he believes your looks are just how your face rests
He watches as other androids attempt to interact with you without success
It kinda endears him in a way???
His fondness for you grows as he sees you interact with the android you came with
Your smile is bright and full, and you're laughing
It's the most amazing sound he's ever heard
Definitely wants to be the person who makes you smile and laugh like that all the time
Simon
literally so sweet omg
constantly making an effort to interact with and spend time with you
it's hard not to have any reactions around him
he lights up just like you do when he sees you around your sibling
teases you a lil bit for it
questions your sibling about how to get you to smile
wants to know all the tips and tricks

dont call me baby - m. mount
Tumblr media
feedback is appreciated gif credits to owner word count : 1.4k
by the time ben has the bright idea to call you, mason is absolutely wasted. music can be heard down the street and the house might explode with how many people are packed in.
mason can’t stop laughing at nothing in particular, the alcohol doing a number on him. he’s halfway pouring himself another shot before ben snatches it from him. ignoring the childish protest from his friend, he guides him outside for some much needed fresh air. “i think we’ve had enough, yeah?”
ben makes sure mason is settled on the curb of the sidewalk before dialing your number, begrudgingly taking the role of babysitter.
“uh y/n, are you busy?”
“not really, everything okay?” you have to hold the phone away from your ear, trying not to get ear damage from the loud music bleeding out in the background.
“no, yeah everything is good. i just think its best if you come get mase, he’s pretty shitfaced.”
over the receiver, you hear masons slurring, “who are you on the phone with? come sit with me!” you feel silly, just hearing his voice makes your heart skip a beat.
“its y/n”
“y/n? y/n! where is she?” you can hear the smile in his tone and it makes you weak in the knees. if only you could see how pathetically sweet he looks, eyes looking for you in every direction.
ben must have given mason the phone because his voice is suddenly clearer than ever. “y/n?”
“everything okay, love? having fun?”
“i think so, i said i wasn’t going to drink that much but kai kicked my ass in beer pong… twice.” he mumbles the last part, quietly. “are you almost here? i need you, i miss you.”
“i miss you too, sweet boy.” you swear you can’t love him anymore than you do right now. he always gets so soft and lovey when he’s drunk, it’s your favorite version of him. “want me to take you home?”
“what a scandalous proposition, at least buy me dinner before asking me to go home with you!” he laughs at his own joke for a solid minute.
“i’ll buy you all the dinners you want, okay? i’ll be there soon.”
you exchange ‘i love yous’ and mason hands the phone back to ben, having watched the whole conversation with amusement. and the amusement only grows when mason lets himself fall back onto the patch of sidewalk grass. he hears mason ramble about something along the lines of ‘she wants to take me home’.
“hurry, for his own good.”
when you finally do arrive, you find mason passed out on bens shoulder. quickly getting off the car, you approach them and kneel right in front of them. mason is still mumbling nonsense of ‘her’ and ‘home’, eyes glazed and sleepy. you boop his nose, affectionately. he looks extra beautiful with the streetlight illuminating his features. “hello there, handsome. let’s get out of here, yeah?”
nothing could’ve prepared you for the serious look mason gave you as his gaze landed on you. no smiles, no laughing. in an annoyed tone, “no thanks, please leave me alone.”
ben and you share a confused look. you force yourself to swallow the sadness that was creeping up in you. mason has never been so cold with you, always wanting to work out arguments instead of fighting. what could you have done to him in that fifteen minute drive to warrant such a cold attitude? you reach for his hand, “im sorry, mase? did i do something wrong?”
“i said to leave me alone.” he retracts his hand at lighting speed, making your heart feel worse than it ever has. he’s certainly never done that before. “my girlfriend is on her way and i don’t think she’ll appreciate you putting the moves on me.”
you raise an eyebrow, “mason, what are you on about?”
“just leave.”
you really didn’t understand what was going on. “baby, whats going on?”
“do not call me baby, only my girlfriend can do that.”
oh my, your mood does a complete 180 and now you really can’t contain your laugh. your poor boyfriend is drunker than you thought. Keeping the charade up, you reach to ruffle his hair “i’m so sorry, i had no idea you had a girlfriend.”
his reflexes are quick, trying to dodge your affectionate gestures. “you should be sorry. please- hey stop that, i know y/n will definitely get mad if she sees you playing with my hair. only she’s allowed to do that.” not even waiting for your response, he turns to ben. “is y/n almost here? i want her.”
this time, you and ben share an amused look. ben pats his back,  “she just called, said she’s almost here.”
hearing that, masons stern glare is targeted at you again. he slurs, “now you really do have to leave. y/n might be nice but she will fight you if she sees you trying to get into my pants. leave before i tell her you tried calling me baby.”
without another word, you get up and walk behind your car, hidden from masons view. giving him a couple seconds to believe that this “other girl” left, you prepare to come out of your hiding spot. when you finally do reappear, you walk up to him again, hoping the ruse will work. acting as if this is the first time you’re seeing him tonight, you kneel down again and kiss his cheek. realizing that it’s really you this time, masons entire mood shifts. he tries and fails to get up, trying to grasp your hand. “y/n!”
“hey pretty boy!” ruffling his hair, this time he leans into it. “you’re okay?”
“yeah, just a little drunk and sleepy. i really want you to take me home, not sexually just literally.”
“thats what i’m here for, baby.”
as if the word triggers some memory he was trying hard to repress, mason lets out a gasp. “y/n! you’ll never believe what just happened.”
“hmm?”
“some girl tried touching my hair and she was calling me baby and getting too close to me. i told her i had a girlfriend but she wouldn’t listen. i was properly mad but i told her you’d fight her if she stuck around.”
“oh, yeah? was she pretty? did you like her?” you know you shouldn’t take advantage of him in this state but it was just too fun to tease drunk mason.
“no! i didn’t even look at her! i was just waiting for you to show up and trying my best to ignore her. i swear it!”
at this, ben snorted and helped you lift mason up. latching on to you, he sways you both around, promising he didn’t even pay attention to that other girl. you say your goodbyes to ben after making sure mason is properly in the car.
halfway on the drive, mason speaks up. “where were you tonight? you should’ve come along and protected me from scary girls.”
you laugh at this.
“whats so funny?”
“nothing. just thought of me following you around, making sure no other girl touches your pretty hair.”
soon enough, you’re back home and helping him stumble in through the front door. getting him up the stairs should earn you a gold medal, setting aside the fact that he only almost slipped twice. entering your shared bedroom, you gently sit him down on the bed and begin to undress him. he hums in content when he is left in only his boxers and an old shirt, quickly being tucked in the covers by you. even in his state, he wants to tell you how much he appreciates you, how you’re his whole world.  “i love you, y/n.”
“i love you, sweet boy.” you give him a quick peck on his stubbled cheek, before changing out of your clothes and climbing into bed alongside him. immediately, he pulls you to him, nestling his face into the crook of your neck. this is heaven to you, feeling his warm touch all over you.
you kiss him one more time, “go to sleep, love. you had a long night.”
“but i’m not even tired!” he whines, stifling a yawn.
“yes you are, mase.” lifting your hand to his hair, you begin to play with it in hopes that it lulls him to sleep. “it’s okay, i’ll stay up for a bit if you need anything.”
mason doesn’t even hear the last part of your sentence, already lost in his dreams of you.

I want to fall in love with Levi.
Maybe love at first sight. The way he walked into the cafe just shifted the whole atmosphere. Heads turned and whispers "it's Levi" echoed in the room. Girls giggling and guys tried to act cool and said hi to him. But Levi merely nodded as an acknowledgement, moving steadily to his group of friends who welcomed him warmly. People got back to what they were doing, but Levi's name came up here and there. People still turned to peak at him but he acted that he did not know it.
You couldn't stop staring at him too. Your work left hanging. Your laptop frozen at the same page, the cursor blinking as if trying to get your attention but failed. How in the 2023 world where there is still one man that you found wearing an ironed shirt on a Tuesday afternoon in a cafe? Levi did. His shirt was neatly tight in, sleeves rolled to his albows and his shoes were clean like brand new. You heard about this man a lot but this was the first time you saw him. And your heart skipped a beat when he walked through the door. You were embarrassed that your head turned 180° from left to right as your eyes followed him from the door to the table. You prayed nobody saw it.
You were certain you were blushing. You couldn't tear your eyes away. Even with the headphones blaring your favourite songs, your eyes kept darting above your laptop screen to peak at Levi. He sat so elegant yet masculine with his cup of whatever-it-was. He looked like he was engaging in a serious conversation but you caught him grinning at one point.
You smiled too. But after an hour or so, Levi left the cafe with his friends. Their table was clean. You saw Levi taking out the trash to the trash can by the door. You texted your bestfriend about him, describing the magical encounter you had with Levi and how you would dump your whole piggy bank into a wishing well just to see him again.
"You are in love, sweetheart 😉," your bestfriend texted.
"Maybe just a lil' crush," you replied.

I just can't get over how Tails spied on Sonic in the bath via satellite in the movies (and enjoyed the view. He knew what he was doing). They (probably unintentionally) giving us shippers fuel ❤️👀
Listen listen, anon
Anon
I think about some of those tidbits from Sonic Movie 2 all the time
I mean it's not as if this is out of character for Tails (given that he more explicitly just kind of straight up stalked Sonic in the backstory in Japan's version of the Sonic 2 manual) but man
This really is not to mention the way Sonic feigns uncomfortability/disgust when he's like "You even watch me in the shower??", and then when Tails doesn't even skip a beat explaining that he knows Sonic takes bubble baths Sonic full 180s into "Wow!😊". Just full on impressed with how extensively Tails has been watching him
Like they just dropped on us "Tails watches Sonic constantly like it's the Sonic show, no matter how private or intimate the moment" and "by all rights Sonic is perfectly okay with the knowledge of this behavior" and expected us to be normal about it?😂
I could probably make an entire post logging Sonic movie 2's sontails shipping fuel honestly
Honarable mention of a scene is when Maddie starts looking through Tails' backpack of inventions and comments "This fox is into some freaky stuff!"
Interesting connotations there
Anyways😂
