had a conversation w my pops a couple weeks ago where i was very, very mad (correct) about the coal industry bc of some coursework. his response was "that's interesting, because on my side your DNA is all coal fields". as if. that's not. the reason. i'm so mad.

anyway, from the wikipedia: "the battle of blair mountain was the largest labor uprising in United States history, and is the largest armed uprising since the American Civil War. ok conlangblr, what's the vibe on participating in a study about your linguistic background and motivation/reasoning for conlanging? and answering some questions about the linguistic features of your conlang(s)? and maybe submitting spoken/written samples if you were so inclined??

especially (but not exclusively) reaching out to my casual conlangers here. the ones with little to no formal linguistics training. the vibelangers, if you will.

I have no issue with being blocked but there is a certain sort of sampling bias introduced when a shipper on one "side" of a fandom posts a survey ostensibly for everyone but has shippers on other "sides" blocked

(scarequotes because I hate the notion of sides but you get the idea)

Obviously I may be blocked for non-shipping related reasons but it vexes me nonetheless from a data quality standpoint. It's part of why I wish that people who want to "survey" fandom would use a new/fresh sideblog to post and then their regular accounts to boost, and/or would drop a link and request to boost into the asks of shippers/users across as big a cross-section of fandom as they can reach.

My absolute favorite trait about Dick aside from his craziness is his ability to control every single person in existence. The best part is, he's so clever in the way that he does it that people almost never notice.

But to make things worse, there's a being that's so powerful, that both the Crime Syndicate and Justice League combined have a snowball's chance in hell of defeating him.

So what does Dick do? He runs the game.

I love how they characterized Owlman as a snake because that would make Dick a mongoose since mongoose eats snakes. And do you know what Mongoose represent in folklore? Action, adventure, boldness, fearlessness, impulsiveness, independence, optimism, rebellion, resistance, resourcefulness, speed, adaptation, agility, quickness, intelligence and wit. All characteristics that define him.

He plays the world like a chessboard, always five steps ahead.

He always has an ace hidden up his sleeve.

His thoughts are always masked behind a disarming smile.

He has mastered the art of manipulation.

And that's while he's outright fighting. His subtlety is just so seductive.

Had an argument with a colleague that people (at least used to) keep their online and offline lives very separate from each other, and want to keep these separate. While I realize we're all gremlins here, I was curious to see what people here treat 'living online'.
