Simon (Ghost) Riley- Roadhog (Tank)

Simon is the type of guy to like Roadhog’s kit. The hook and the scrap gun are just giving me his vibe. Plus I think he’d like his design. If Roadhog is taken he’ll play D.VA. (Don’t question him)

Johnny (Soap) MacTavish- Lucio (Support)

I think Johnny would love playing support and would especially like playing Lucio. He definitely loves the speed buff. If he can’t play Lucio, he’ll play Moira.

Kyle (Gaz) Garrick- Genji (DPS)

Genji is quick and agile and I think that’d fit Kyle’s gaming style. I think he’d be absolutely cracked at the game too. If Genji is already taken he’ll play Tracer.

John Price- Reinhardt (Tank)

This just makes so much sense to me. I feel like he’d like the shield and also the slam feature. If he can’t play Reinhardt, he’ll play Ramattra.

Kate Laswell- Widowmaker (DPS)

She’s definitely got good aim, and she likes standing back and getting kills from afar. She definitely prefers weapons you can use a scope on in the game. If she can’t play Widowmaker she’ll play Ashe.

Phillip Graves- Soldier 76 (DPS)

He loves the biotic field. And also the sprint feature. He hates how slow the walking in the game is. If he can’t play as Soldier 76 he’s playing as Cassidy.

•Zenyatta: This is obligatory. Cant partake (no mouth) but is amazing to be around. He just has a very chilled out aura. Makes sure everyone’s ok. Brought snacks. Gives amazing advice.

•Reinhardt: Loud but he’d have the best stories and would immediately accept you as if he’s known you his entire life. Overall 10/10 vibes

• Cassidy: Just so cool. Experienced. I think I’d just be looking at him the entire time

• Sombra: Has cool older sister vibes. Will tell you all the wildest gossip. Best playlist too.

• Junkrat: Hear me out but I think he’d pull a 180 and become the smartest man ever. It’d chill him out sm that he’s normal. Very entertaining.

• Mercy: I feel like you can have a really good enlightening conversation with her. Would be down to get deep but wouldn’t make it ~too~ deep, you know? Also unexpectedly funny.

Nightmare blunt rotation:

• Reaper: Terrible vibes. Just brings everyone down “YOUR THE ONLY PEOPLE I CAN SHOW MY DARK SIDE AROUND” *proceeds to blast the worst rap you’ve ever heard*

• Widowmaker: Quiet but I feel like she’d def make you paranoid. Is she judging you? Or is she just staring at you? She’s definitely judging you.

• Moira: Would offer you hard drugs instead. They’re homemade and most likely laced with something that would either kill you or rot your skin off. Also just mean.

• Kiriko: Her smug aura mocks me.

• Hanzo: Total buzzkill. makes everything depressing. Cries and makes it awk. How many times can you go “aw.😕“ before he gets that you don’t want to hear about how he’s worthless for the 100th time. I’m here to chill, not be a therapist. Holds the j and let’s it burn down while he’s talking. Ugh.

• Sigma: Love him, truly I do, but god he’d make me worried. Greens out. Go home pls, get some rest.

With a heavy heart you know now that soon you'll watch as you lose Haylen and Rhys too, before succumbing yourself to the ever growing tide of ferals that has been ebbing closer over the course of the battle, it feels like an eternity has passed since you saw Keane fall to the abominations, time seemed to have broken, though you know that its only been half an hour at most. If you survive the onslaught you'll have to organise a proper memorial.. if..

Reload. Aim. Fire. Assess the situation, update tactics. Breathe. Reload. Aim. Fire. Godless heathens! Rhys is injured! Breathe. Reload. BREATHE. Aim. Fi- Fire rains down on the ferals from outside the compound. Reload. Update tactics with Haylen, while more gunfire and another molotov begins to part the irradiated sea of scum. Aim. You catch a glimpse of them. Fire. The remaining abominations are dealt with swiftly, and while thankful for the well timed assist you can't help but to be cautious of them after all of the opposition your team has faced in the commonwealth. You ask them about themselves and they ask about you in return, thinking back you never got a straight answer out of them but no time to think about that now. Leading the way, you fill the silence with a debrief of Gladius' disastrous mission here, after all they had seemed interested in the Brotherhood, even if the sunglasses clad man with them had frowned. Arcjet brings more surprises, in both the unwelcome form of gen 1 synths, and the strangers' apparent combat effectiveness and familiarity with facing them. Between both of your combat prowess, the dilapidated laboratory is soon devoid of any synthetic 'life'.

Choosing to debrief outside you stumble through attempting to compliment their outstanding combat abilities, for a civilian. You part ways after gifting them Righteous authority and an accepted invitation to join the brotherhood, much to the dismay of their companion it seems. On the walk back to the station you realise that you feel lighter than you have in months, if just a little bit crispier too.

Months pass and things have been going well for the soldier, their already good combat skills have been steadily improving, Maxon has promoted them already! They are turning into a model knight, albeit with some unorthodox choices sometimes, but you want them to succeed you know they can!

After a particularly gruelling day of clearing out yet another super mutant nest you mutually decide to camp out in a suitably defensible old house, "you're quite the soldier" you say for not the first time, casual conversation comes easily with them, easier than it has for you in years you realise with a pang. And so you tell them about Kreig and how you are pushing them the same way he pushed you, to grow into the potential you see in them, and then you apologise. For being like Kreig, pushing too hard without explanation or reward. The soldier is silent for a while, before replying, but you see a new glimmer in their eyes, of understanding. They take first watch, and you drift off to sleep easily for the first time in recent memory.

Much progress has been made in the brotherhood's hunt for the institute, with the both or you being assigned more missions near constantly it seems someone has noticed your effectiveness as a team. You've heard whispers of rumours and caught the occasional stares drifting around the prydwen, but you pay them no mind, speculative gossip has never been of any interest to you, especially not something so obviously false as those rumours, that would be inappropriate after all. Your thoughts drift to the soldier, and realise just how much they have come to mean to you and how little you've told them anything about you, how could you have been so selfish after they have bared so much of their soul with you? Their life prewar, the death of their spouse at the hands of the cruel institute mercenary, the hunt for a way into the institute and their overwhelming fear at what they will find there. How much pressure they feel from everyone to be the perfect soldier, you sigh internally thinking about that, you owe them an apology it seems. With your mind made up now you just wait for them to return and for a suitably private moment to present itself. The opportunity arises later that day, they have just returned to the prydwen after a week away, and much to your surprise beeline straight for you with a smile before even turning in their documents or missions. They seem to be oblivious to the stares and raised eyebrows of the mess's other patrons, and a round of suitably authoritative glares ensures they will remain so. Brandis just smiles, damn him.

You warmly accept their request to join them on a routine acquisition for Haylen, but you know by now that no mission will ever be ‘routine’ with them, not that you mind the challenge. En-route to the target zone you cant stop thinking about what you are going to discuss with them, how will you open such a sensitive topic with them? Its been a substantial period of time since you’ve spoken to anyone about back then, not that you could ever forget him, after all how could you when he haunts your sleep like some sort of sorrowful spectre of loss, guilt and pain.

Lost in your ruminations as you are you nearly walk right into the Soldier as they signal ‘hold’ and ‘danger’. Snapping back to reality while cursing yourself for your inattentiveness internally, you spot the obvious threat almost immediately: a roving band of super-mutant scum and worse yet, a suicider. Outstanding. Your friend signals for stealth and for a flanking manoeuvre, you never did understand their insistence on such quiet methods when you both have access to power armour, but you’ve seen enough of their handwork enough to trust their tactics, even with their continual overestimation of your lacking stealth capabilities. As quietly and you can in full power armour you move into position on the opposite side of the pack to them, shoulder your rifle and wait for their signal. You can feel your heart rate quicken in time with the warming thrum from your charging laser rifle as the anticipation and adrenaline flips the switch to combat mode. They don’t keep you waiting long as a well placed laser volley from them sets off the unsuspecting suicider right in the middle of the pack. As the stragglers stupidly turn in the direction of the apparent danger you fire on their backs with deadly accuracy. With the element of surprise now used to its fullest, you charge into optimal combat range as one of the remaining brutes correctly picks you as the bigger threat, Good. Its better if you are the target. A few more well places shots from the both of you and its over as quickly as it started, “Outstanding!” you complement their marksmanship and tactics as they walk over. You notice of the charred abominations still writhing nearby and you put it out of its disgusting misery with a well placed stomp.

The Soldier shows you the location Haylen specified on their pip-boy, its just on the other side of this small commercial district, if the mission goes smoothly you could be back on the prydwen by nightfall, sharing a whisky to chase away the taste of messes’ latest attempt at dinner. You both freeze as you hear the distinctive sound of laser fire nearby, one look and you both move towards the commotion weapons hot. At the first sign of creepy plastic and blue lasers you charge with an “AD VICTORIAM!” but you barely get a round in before mini-gun fire tears through the remaining machines. After ensuring that they were in the clear you join the soldier as they approach the heavily armed newcomer. You meet the strangers glare with a level one of your own, before they can say anything your friend asks what they are doing here, “kicking ass, though it looks like HQ messed up scheduling again” the stranger answers. Ah this must be one of their minutemen acquaintances, you had heard they were getting more active lately, and poor organisation is expected from the civilian militia. The strangely dressed silver haired minuteman explains that the subway has been overrun with gen 1 synths, your friend offers to help, “it would be an Honor to assist in exterminating these abominations” you agree, though this earns you a strange look from the minuteman. No matter. Unbeknownst to you the Soldier and the minuteman share a significant look behind your back. No pathetic synths stand a chance against the three of you as heavily armoured as you all are, you briefly considered extending the minuteman an invitation to join the brotherhood, though you reconsider when they lament the ‘deaths’ of the machines, such a naive outlook would never be allowed to continue in the brotherhood, don't they know how dangerous synths are? With the battle dust settled, “damn!, you’re one ass-kicking angel of death” the stranger compliments your friend as you all backtrack to leave the dingy subway, “agreed, outstanding work as always” you contribute, they are positively beaming at the combined praise. The minutemen leaves with more crude but positive words, its good to see that the minutemen have at least some capable fighters on their side, it is a noble cause.

The target artifact is soon acquired with minor resistance from some more mutants, but the hour is too late to return to the prydwen now. They suggest that a settlement nearby will be a safe place to camp for the night, you agree, and privately hope that the arrangements will be secluded enough for the difficult conversation you have planned. A short walk in the dark later and you both arrive at the small nursery and are immediately accosted by a group of hysterical settlers. Eventually the soldier calms them down enough to learn the location of the kidnapped one, an older man. The mutants are just across the road as it turns out, why on earth they have tolerated living a stones throw from these monstrosities for so long is a mystery, but at least the proximity makes for a brutally quick rescue, you both use the night to you advantage and the monsters are dead before they can even take up arms. The man is injured so you carry him, trusting your friend to have your backs on the way back to the settlement. You mentally resolve to make significant note of how much mutant and synth activity there is in this region in the next mission report. With the settler returned, sustenance and a semi-secure place to set up camp for the night acquired (to be continued oops, 1/4 affinity talks written, the 4th being romance dialog)

My 16 year old self possessed me and I reinstalled overwatch. Still won a few rounds as DVa bc no aim=no problem but rusty AF on Soldier 76 and Mercy. No clue if I'll pick it back up bc vibes of teams of 5 feel very off.

But it was comforting. All my burnout is hitting after finding out I passed professional licensing this week.

Going back to the "games that are banned from the 141"

Is Overwatch banned? If not, what roles/who do they all play?

Personally, I see Gaz as being a support player, but he's definitely one of the bloodthirsty ones that just will scream at Soap.

Soap plays Junkrat. It is law.

If it is banned, what happened?

I dunno, I was just playing some Overwatch earlier today and was like "wait a minute, COD boys and this game would be so chaotic"

They play Overwatch and jokingly say it's banned because of how competitive they all get.

Soap is definitely a Junkrat main. It is law. As soon as he saw Junkrat and some of his gameplay he went "It me!". He plays Junkrat exclusively and will pout if he has to play another hero. If he has to play another hero, which he will complain about, he'll choose Wrecking Ball.

Price is a Soldier 76 main. That is also law. Unlike Soap, he doesn't complain when he has to pick another hero. He aims for Orisa or Reinhardt if they need a tank.

Ghost definitely mains Reaper. He vibes with him so much, even bought a Reaper mask to wear. If Ghost can't play Reaper he will play Widowmaker. He really likes her character and vibes with her as well.

Gaz does play support, he bounces between Mercy and Lucio and Moira. He also screams at his team the entire time and will choose to not heal them if they piss him off.

(I haven't played Overwatch in awhile or looked at all the new things they added. I know there are new heroes but I haven't looked them over yet so I picked from the heroes in Overwatch 1)

Gravity Falls + Overwatch Headcanons

Not sure if anyone else in the Gravity Falls fandom plays Overwatch, but I was sitting here wondering what/how each GF character would play. I know for 99.99% certain Ford would at least play Sigma, but I was curious about the other characters. So far I’ve thought...

Ford:

Mainly plays Tank and Support; mains Sigma (because deep voiced astrophysicist in his 60s who causes gravity anomalies? yes), but will also play Winston, Ana for Support, and maybe a little Widow for DPS. Despite Ford using a pistol most of the time, he feels like someone who’d be a sniper type to me. Fantastic tactically as a Tank, likely makes callouts when Dipper isn’t. As Support or DPS, you never see him coming, very sneaky.

Protective in an indirect way; someone will be going after a teammate and - especially if it’s Dipper, Mabel, or Stan getting threatened - he just instantly wipes them when they least expect it, especially when playing Widow. Plays as a way to wind down after all the science. Plans potential plays in his spare time with complex diagrams of OW maps and runs games like experiments to test his strategy hypotheses. When someone not on his team rages at him or someone in his group over mic, he spends as much time as he can calmly schooling the shit out of them, but will admit fault if he did make a mistake.

Stan:

Like Ford, but leans Tank+DPS rather than Tank+Support. Reinhardt (protective old man), Roadhog (because every time he hooks and insta-kills someone he can scream LEFT HOOK!), Doomfist for punches and additional left hooks, Cassidy because cowboys and cigars, and Soldier: 76 for those jaded, grizzled older man vibes. If he had to play Support, he’d probably play Brig for the brawl fun. Protective as hell. Does not care about being sneaky like Ford, he’ll jump right into the fray and cause mayhem.

Doesn’t make callouts but always is watchful over teammates, especially Mabel, Dipper, and Ford. A bit reckless - often Reinhardt charges and sacrifices himself off the map to protect someone. Hard as hell to kill otherwise. When playing Soldier: 76, will often drop healing packs specifically for Mabel and Dipper (”Here ya go, pumpkin/kiddo.”). If anyone outside of his team rages at him/a group member over mic, he tells Mabel and Dipper to cover their ears and lets loose.

Mabel:

Easily will play any role, probably tries every character, but likes Junker Queen, Zarya (pink hair!), Reinhardt, Mei, and Lucio for either badass/tough lady characters or more upbeat characters. Probably tanks the most. May play Widow on occasion for grappling hook reasons. Often yells “I AM THE GOD OF DESTRUCTION!” whenever she pulls off a good play/ult, especially with Reinhardt. Loves booping people off the map with Lucio. Loves to collect skins and always wears the most colorful ones. If she loses a match, she always stays positive and thinks, “Oh well, my skin was better, so I won the fashion match!”.

Not as reckless as her Grunkle Stan, but sometimes will do certain plays because they sounded fun to try rather than it making logical sense. Scary as hell to play against when she’s Rein (all fear the Rein known as RainbowSparklz31). Her and Dipper coordinate a lot and always play better together. If someone rages at her on mic, she just compliments them until they explode into salt. “OMG TANK DIFF YOU LOST US THE MATCH!” and she’s just like, “Oh, you played really well! I loved your skin! Wanna be friends?” until they ragequit and she just giggles.

Dipper:

This one’s harder... but I think Dipper would actually lean Support the most, maybe a little DPS. I think he’d try to focus on being equally good at all of them for adaptability, but may lean Zenyatta, Baptiste, and Mercy (people make fun of him for playing the stereotypical “girl gamer character”, but Dipper doesn’t care because he enjoys the positioning/ability usage skill Mercy requires, plus likely is the one calling out stuff tactically). For DPS, for some reason I see Reaper, Symmetra, and Tracer. If he has to play Tank, he probably plays Winston like Ford or Orisa.

Enjoys coordinating all of his skins, highlight intros, and emotes. Works with Ford on strategy plans for the rest of the team, and is fantastic at callouts and leading the team (better than Ford even, because as smart as Ford is, Dipper’s been playing video games his whole life). Goes out of his way to help Mabel the most, but also helps Stan and Ford out a lot too, of course. When people rage at him on mic he’s the only member of the Pines family that gets a little offended/hurt, but Stan will step in and swear at someone for him.

McGucket:

Torbjörn onetrick. Torbjörn on attack, Torbjörn on defense. Torbjörn everywhere, all the time. Maybe Junkrat or Bastion if he’s forced to switch. People will rage at him to switch off Torb and he just adds them to his next “make a weapon of mass destruction and unleash it for revenge” list. Cackles whenever he ults. Rambles off hillbilly curses when he dies. Always on mic and doesn’t care if he makes too much noise. Plays his banjo on mic between matches. The banjo music intensifies if it’s just after a lost match.

Soos:

You know this sweetheart is a Support main, with some Tank. Loves Kiriko for the anime vibes, Lucio because DJ r-r-r-right, and Mercy because reasons. Unfortunately, as passionate as he is about the game, he’s not always the best. He’ll go to res someone as Mercy, like “Dood, I got you! Hold o-” and then gets sniped almost every time. But Soos means so well and is such a positive, supportive teammate no one cares that he is a little lower skilled. He’s the team cheerleader and everyone else plays worse when he’s not there. For Tank, he’d probably play Wrecking Ball (hamster teeth man) and D.Va (Korean anime girl). If he had to play DPS, he’d play Genji or Hanzo because also anime reasons.

Wendy:

Tank and DPS, mostly Junker Queen (axes man), Sombra, and Sojourn. Goes for the showy/badass type kills, is insanely good at DPS, but also wrecks with JQ. Doesn’t take the game too seriously but will step in to play if the Pines+ team needs another player if someone has to step out for a week. Will play Brig or Moira if she has to play Support. Great role flexer and person to fill in for any role the Pines+ team needs filled.

Pacifica:

She canonically is an ace WoW and/or Overwatch player:

Probably the best member of the Pines+ team. Kicks ass, is at a higher rank (probably GM) but will play with the Pines+ team down on their rank because they’re more fun to play with. I can see her playing DPS mostly. Plays Ashe because rich girl with a robot butler, Echo, and Widow. Is a perfectionist because of her upbringing, so gets upset with herself if she fails or loses a match. Practices Widow with Ford in custom game headshot matches, and she often gives him pointers because she’s the better Widow. Also often works with Dipper as a Widow/Ashe/Echo+Mercy duo, Dipper damage boosting her while she shreds people. Refuses to play Support or Tank, and no one minds because she’s so good at DPS that it’s asking to lose if she were to play a different role.

Bill Cipher:

A chance to possess and control a digital fleshbag? Sign him up! Obviously not on the Pines+ team, but manipulates the matchmaking to oppose them and troll them on occasion. He especially likes to hard focus on Ford and Dipper (cue his Genji harassing Dipper’s Mercy). Is good at every character because he KNOWS LOTS OF THINGS, but likes Ana, Torb, Genji, Bastion, and Reinhardt simply because they’re one-eyed (or nearly/look that way) characters. Screams about needing healing 24/7. Uses mic to tell other players un-fun facts about their life that he shouldn’t know (”You’re sassing me? You’re the one who’s gonna die at the age of 45 while sobbing on the toilet!”). Will emote at the worst times. T-bags players incessantly, even those on his own team to mock them for dying. Mei ice wall blocks team members in spawn. You don’t want him on your team, nor do you want to play against him.

Gideon:

Tank one-trick because he can finally feel tall. Rammatra for rage, Wrecking Ball to smash and knock people around. May play Reaper, but isn’t very good at him, and rage switches to Bastion to shred players when things aren’t going his way. If he’s forced to play Support, that left click ain’t getting used, because it’s DPS Moira all the way. He doesn’t need to heal, the DPS and Tanks just need to get out of his way or be useful meat shields. Incoherently screams on mic when mad, which is 99% of the time. Threatens to send prison gang buddies after players who insult him.

(A Man After Midnight) by Abba.okay another song that's only here for vibes and not blorbos. this song is for any character i am writing in a fight scene. but probably the most suitable character for it is Manuela. 'There's not a soul out there/No one to hear my prayer' it feels like she would have nights like these, thinking that in all her operas there was love for the heros she played but in real life she's alone...

93: Artificial (Bare Bones version) by Daughtry. this is bad end Rodina to me. 'No love, no embrace/Something's wrong and outta place/A soulless masquerade/A disgrace/No sickness, no dying, no disease/No begging for mercy, on your knees/No god, no religion/No beliefs' she's using reason magic instead of faith, she's been given dark magic by the gloucesters working with twsitd, and she's totally alone.

Soldier 76 tangent: Socialization

I’m not sure if others notice this, but it seems to me like Jack might have some kind of social anxiety, or at the very least is socially awkward.

My thought process is that, with the Strike Commander position, he never got to show his true self with most people. He was always behind a mask. Meanwhile, there was also intense pressure for him to make others like him - especially in terms of general public image. Living with the fear that a single mistake could make people dislike him, destroy the mask, and ruin everything, because public opinion is fickle.

(Further explanation/examples/evidence under read more, to not take up too much space in tags/dashboard)

I’ve seen people before say he’s ‘fake’ or ‘shallow’ for those things, but I don’t think him fixating on how others feel about him is out of any kind of vanity. It’s out of anxiety, fear, and necessity. Not that it excuses him for things he’s done wrong, but as someone who’s been ‘the target’ before (school trauma), I know just how paralyzing the fear of negative public opinion can be.

For example, even before the fall, he seems to fret over public opinion a lot:

Afterwards, Soldier 76 is a ‘lone wolf’ for a reason. But, as you can see from his constant insistence that he’s ‘not a hero’ and etc, he seems very convinced that the public hates him or is scared of him. Even after shaking off the bureaucracy, he’s still fixated on public opinion. Despite paying 0 heed to the fact that he pisses off authorities or major businesses, it’s the public that he’s so focused on.

Meanwhile, afterwards, it sometimes seems like he struggles to articulate himself in an honest way. Like he’s always just impersonating himself. It leads to him coming off wrong.

I mentioned before how Jack shows concern for Mei - see this post - and notice how he expresses it.

Then, look at another line he has at Ecopoint Antarctica:

He says he feels terrible for the scientists (presumably, Mei’s friends), while also discouraging her from fighting on the front lines. This gives me the vibe that he’s worried about her safety out on the battlefield (and probably that he’d blame himself even further if she got hurt).

So why did he express it in such an...interesting...way?

It could be a failure to articulate himself properly.

Also, I don’t have quotes for this specifically, but if you listen to the way Jack speaks in-game, he often sounds somewhat stilted and wound up. (Fred Tatasciore, Jack’s voice actor, deserves a shoutout for his ability to deliver so many emotions at once, all while doing a character voice. Love that guy.) 

Meanwhile, if you look at how he talks to Ana, both in-game and in Bastet, he’s much more casual and relaxed. There’s a marked difference in how he talks to someone that he feels comfortable with and used to. Even beyond just a matter of trust - the thought that he can at least somewhat expect what she’s going to do.

All of this is just my own speculation, in the end. But I think it’s an interesting concept - and of course, a way to push my ‘Jack is a way more interesting character than people give him credit for’ agenda, which I do at any opportunity.

for Vigilante!Y/n they would definitely main soldier 76 since hes also a vigilante and can self heal so they dont have to worry about getting healed

for detective moon since he likes to lurk from the shadows i feel like he would main widowmaker since shes a sniper and she has to be in a high but hidden place to get a good shot

for detective sun im not sure tbh😭 hmmm maybe zenyatta? he can equally deal good damage and support in my opinion and when hes on the enemy team hes annoying lmao

for Mafia!eclipse either reaper or D.VA,Reaper fits his vibe and deals good close combat damage but D.VA has unlimited ammo and is pretty chaotic

Oh yes to all of these! I think Zenyatta would be fun for Detective Sun hehe

Eclipse would be Reaper for sure. The shotgun blasts and death blossom are right up his alley!
