Chapter 4 of Rain Code somehow just really made me love Halara than I already do (which says a bunch cuz I love Halara. Like. A lot). They really fleshed out everyone here but I really want to start with them first.

They started off as a logical, cool and collected yet emotionally distant and cut throat individual with no regard for other's struggles and will only lend their aid when the pay is right. In Chapter 1 they literally rejected a poor little kid who's dad was falsely arrested because he (very obviously) didn't have 5 million shien ready and then claimed that those unable to prove their resolve might as well not exist to them. And as a slap in the face threw the ball that boy offered instead because it was his most important item over to Yuma, completely disregarding the sentimental value which came from the fact that he used said ball to play with his almost-as-good-as-dead dad before all that crap went down.

That coldness extends over to Yuma as well. They put him in debt in exchange for their help and up the price for the cake they bought and how much he made them wait. When he reached out his hand to them to activate his Coelescence, they state they have zero intentions of getting friendly with him before violently shutting him down by saying they despise him and the thought of their hands touching makes their skin crawl (that actually hurt btw). They don't just hate Yuma, they hate humanity in general, but surprisingly that didn't stop them from fulfilling their role of assistant in exchange for his payment. They're cold, but not cruel. Even though they expected payment for their services, they didn't press him to hand him the money right away. They didn't think much of Yuma outside of being a trainee, yet were willing to see his potential and put credit were credit is due. Even though they did most of the heavy-lifting during the investigation and figured out the crime before Yuma did, they set up the scene and brought forth the suspects to give him his time to shine. They literally come to the rescue every time he needs help, whether he called on them or not. And most importantly, even with their memories of the Mystery Labyrinth erased and them having no recollection of Yuma solving the case, they still acknowledged him as a detective and stated he should be proud of himself for trying as hard as he did. In Chapter 2, they even defended him against Desuhiko when he was coming at Yuma for not being a real detective, saying that they shouldn't don't descriminate and that he's also one of them. They warm up to him, from praising his decision to take the initiative even in the face of Yakou's disaproval to helping out the group free of cost and billing the expenses to the WDO instead in Chapter 4.

And CHAPTER 4, man. They truly grew as a person and that chapter shows that so well. They're still classic Halara for planning on charging Vivia for his laziness when they make their epic entrance to save the group and telling the peacekeepers that they'll be having their coin back, but honestly I wouldn't have them any other way. And while I loved seeing them kick ass with those legs of pure steel, my favourite scenes were when they were tending to Yakou when he was on death door.

They were trying to keep him alive for as long as possible for everyone's sake. It's those brief yet tense moments where we get to see Halara at their most desperate, where their cool-headed persona starts to crack. We finally see just how much they care about the others. The moment they realize something's off with Yakou they rush to his side to resuscitate him as best as they can. And the worst part is that Yakou was probably already gone at that point.

We heard his voice in the corridor when were conducting the investigation using Spectral Projection before we met with the others. And if that voice was truly his soul seperating from his body, then wouldn't that mean that Yakou was already dead for everything else that happened after? We know he was already dead before Yuma and Vivia got back; they confirmed that themselves. They probably noticed it around the time his heartbeat stopped.

If that's the case, then was Halara just appearing to resuscitate his body for that long? Just to not break Desuhiko and Fubuki's hearts? So that Vivia and Yuma get even the slimest chance of saying goodbye? It's such a complete 180 to how they were at the beginning. Had this been chapter 1, they would've broken the news as soon as they found out. They wouldn't have spent ages giving people hope for a dead person to come back because there's no logic to that-- and yet they do. Because they care about their friends. Where their kindness and support had once come at a cost and as obligatory as their cooperation had been, their relationship with the other detectives has at some point crossed over into genuine care and thoughtfulness over their wellbeing.

I just really love seeing how much they changed over the course of the chapters. They were definitely very selfish and cold and calculating at the start, but they're the furthest from it now-- and I love them for it.

Hi! Was wondering if I could ask you something since you run a solo leveling account. It's only cuz I wanna get to know how other people think of the Monarchs really, because I don't want to only use the scarse source material for my basis but— enough said, How do you think the Monarchs reacted to the Absolute Being's death? Do you think they ever tried to guilt trip the Rulers about that? Did they care even an ounce?

They don't look the least sympathetic to me honestly but they were also following rules of destroying planets and so forth because of the Absolute Being so like... they should have looked at least a bit concerned I feel, and canon ain't giving me anything to go off. I wouldn't like to think of them as simple minded bloodthirsty beasts because they had intelligence, they had armies which at some point would have needed some convincing to do for destroying all those planets, and even the insect Monarch seemed attached to her own kind. They seemed able to be more than just chaos incarnates, heck even the monarchs knew each other and how they would react to different things, they also had trust upon each other, or at least on the dragon Monarch, and they were also fighting against one another to best lead a course of action instead of just agreeing to everything in unison (unlike the rulers)Rulers.

Sorry for the long rant tho. I just wanna see another person's views on them.

I’m kind of on the fence about this one. Would the Monarchs have cared about the Absolute Being’s death? How well did they even know the Absolute Being (AB)?

We have zero indication in canon of whether the AB ever actually interacted with the Monarchs. Did the AB ever tell the Monarchs their purpose was destruction? Or did he just give them destructive urges? Did they know they were following the AB’s plan or did they think they were rebelling by destroying planets? (Planets that the AB may have made? Was the AB actually god in this universe or did he just create some things? Who knows!)

And how much contact did the Rulers have with the Absolute Being? They seemed surprised when the AB didn’t respond to their plea of aid, which lead to the revelation that this whole war was just entertainment for the AB. And Ashborn was loyal enough to the AB to die trying to protect him, so presumably the Rulers must have had some kind of contact with the AB.

Is that why the Rulers thought the AB would be on their side? They were in contact with their Maker and the Monarchs weren’t? Did the Rulers think they were following the will of the Absolute Being and the Monarchs weren’t?

What kind of revelation would that have been for the Monarchs, to realize that their Maker had created them for destruction, after all? Or did they always know? Did they mock the Rulers for never realizing it before? Did the Monarchs always know that this war was just a game to the Absolute Being?

Why else would they be created for destruction, with counterparts that were made to try and stop them? And how ironic would they find it, that the beings made for destruction weren’t the ones to kill their Maker, but the ones made for protection and creation were?

But it must be some kind of mind fuck to know you were created to fight and die for your Maker’s amusement. Would they care about the Absolute Being’s death, when the being never cared about whether they lived or died?

Can you miss what you never had?

Were the Monarchs ever children, craving a parent’s love? Or were they fully formed adults, independent and needing no one else?

At the very least, it seems they’ve always had each other.

Perhaps they’ve survived this long in their war against the Rulers because they’ve always had each other’s backs. Antares keeps them from fighting amongst themselves, directing their destructive urges to those outside their group.

Though I’m not sure how loyal they are to each other, whether they mourn. Antares didn’t seem to have much reaction to Baran’s death.

I think it was implied, or maybe outright stated and I can’t remember, that Antares actually planned for Baran and the Beast Monarch, whatever his name is, to betray Ashborn. So, it seems like spite rules them more than practicality. They could have killed off the other Rulers by working with Ashborn, but instead they let their grudge from when Ashborn was a Ruler shape their actions. Maybe their pride couldn’t handle needing a former Ruler to take out the other Rulers.

Maybe Antares didn’t like the competition. He was the strongest Monarch before. If the Rulers were killed, what would Ashborn do after that? Would he leave the group or try to lead? Assuming Ashborn has any morals, he wouldn’t really have been okay with the Monarchs continuing their quest to destroy planets. Antares might have known that and tried to use the element of surprise to take out their strongest opponent first.

After Baran was killed, though, it seems like Antares tried to do some damage control. To get Ashborn to keep working with them instead of turning his new Monarch powers against them. Because if Ashborn had joined up with the Rulers again, with his new shadow powers, I’ve no doubt that the Monarchs would have lost.

I’m not sure where I’m going with this now…

I guess, I think the Monarchs are capable of emotions and stuff, but I do think they like destruction more than other things. It’s what they were made for, so I think they were made to enjoy it.

I don’t think they would necessarily miss the Absolute Being because I don’t think they had a close bond with the AB. And they especially wouldn’t miss the AB if they knew that the AB just saw them as entertainment.

Beyond that, it’s possible they could be friends with each other. They constantly go on fun ‘trips’ to destroy worlds together. Maybe they’re attached to some of the beings in their army. Probably not the weakest ones, since they would have a higher chance of dying, but I could see them getting attached to the stronger members of their army. Probably more like pets than friends, though.

Since canon gave us nothing of their backstory, it’s really up to the individual to decide whether they’re like a found family that murders together or just a bunch of assholes who work together to avoid getting murdered by the Rulers. Personally, I see them somewhere in between, where some of them get along better than others.

And I’m curious to see if anyone else has any headcanons for them. Feel free to reply or reblog with your own thoughts. ^_^

That last anon who is an actor who said that they hope the strike doesn’t happen should maybe really look into why all the unions have been very vocal this year. I have friends who are in SAG tell me about the almost 4 hour meeting SAG had this weekend and why the board for the first time unanimously voted to send out a strike authorization vote to the membership. Also SAG has been out everyday with WGA since their strike started. Actors, especially working actors have been hit hard by streaming. They have the same issues writers have. They do not get the same residuals they use to get. Actors who guest star on network shows or cable shows aren’t getting paid as much anymore for streaming shows. An actor who did a role on Friends or something like it use to be able to survive off their residuals. Also, films going straight to streaming, they’re not making money off box offices or DVDs anymore. Reoccurring actors on shows are getting demoted to guest star, look what happen with Bob ❤️ Absiola on CBS. And AI is a threat to actors job. They’ve already started trying to replace voice actors with AI. Tom Hanks talked about how they would use AI will be used to still use an actors likeness long pass their death. There’s a lot of things actors are fighting for.

And yeah Tom and Z might be millionaires but they’re still in the union so why wouldn’t they care about what’s happening in their union? So if SAG does go on strike, they would be on strike too. I would assume they would care even if financially they are fine. They care about their colleagues.!

I totally agree. I think while streaming has offered some huge benefits and loads of convenience, I can see why some are feeling upset by not being able to make as much money as they used to with residuals.

And don't even get me started on the creepy AI. Hahaha I read that quote from Tom Hanks just a few days ago actually. 😅 I knew when they started doing de-aging technology, and bringing old Hollywood stars back to life in commercials and whatnot that it would only be a matter of time before some people in power would start to decide: "Hey, we don't need actors at all! Let's just use AI/computer generated people!" 🙄

Anyway, I totally agree w/you that while TZ might be fine financially, they still care about their peers in the industry. Plus, I recall Tom stating a few years back that the thing he worries most about is his career. I remember thinking back then that it was weird that he even worried about that stuff (cuz to me his career is GREAT!), but as we can see, even those who are successful and have done large films can worry at times about the future of their careers.

Plus, let's be honest...Nobody's buying DVD's anymore lol. 😅 I mean, when you have streaming, it's almost like, what's the point? But I can see why people are finding this concerning. 😔

Okay I was tryna be funny but here's a more thought out answer. I know their costumes are not only meant to show their respective eras but also portray aspects of their personality but I really wanna see Cap in civilian clothes. And not just civilian clothes but casual wear. Cuz it'd be 40s fashion. I mean...COME ON. If we ever saw Cap in casual clothes I think I'd go insane. I mean considering Seb and I spent FIFTEEN (15) MINUTES going back to rewatch the scene with his jacket off and sleeves rolled up. GODDAMN. I also just wanna see this man RELAXED and AT EASE fuckin PLEASE GIVE THIS MAN SOME REST AAAAA. Anyways, Cap in casual wear and mayhaps even 40s gay fashion *eyes emoji eyes emoji*

37) What do you think [insert character name here] was like when they were alive? Do you think they were exactly the same as they are now, or do you think there were any major or minor differences?

Okay, we get to see a decent amount of Alive Kitty in her ep SO. She seemed to be very optimistic and upbeat as she is in death HOWEVER, those are her memories with rose tinted glasses. I do think she was outwardly bright and happy as she seems to be even in death but I don' think that was the case when she was alone. She tells Alison about the hide and seek game but part of me is imagining that Kitty very much assumed she'd been forgotten about but didn't want to go back and have to face that so stayed out and ate a handbag. Even when she tells the ghosts about her past, slivers of reality slip through. In life, she probably felt bullied by her sister and even her father but when she died she made herself forget that while keeping the optimistic personality. We don't yet know how she died but either way, Kitty probably watched as Eleanor faked being sad about her passing which made her think she actually cared for Kitty. Fuck, I'm rewatching Something To Share.

Mary very obviously changed quite a bit. She used to have a hard time even coming up with an insult but in death she was so creative and outspoken. She seemed a lot more fun and free after she died which is not really how that's meant to go. Always a little bit "odd" but not as vocal until she met Annie.

I think Annie was probably the same as Mary. Not as free until death. This is just from memory but she seemed to be in a kinda Puritan environment which would've been very dull and limiting especially for a woman. Although unlike Mary, it seemed to take no time at all for her to start insulting her past peers and shit which I think is hilarious what a fuckin legend and fair e-fucking-nuff.

Ty Anon, those were some good characters to make me think about in the second one. I don't have much to say on Annie considering we only see her in two eps but she does seem pretty cool ngl. And also uhhhh...I did not expect to ramble so much about Casual Cap. But now I really wanna see that so fucking badly. All these asks may have reignited my Ghosts hyperfixation

The recent argument makes me think very hard.

Cuz like, I do kinda get what Tubbo is getting at with wanting to kill Wilbur, but you can tell he didn't think it through that a new Pythia would get called and they'd just be back where they started lmao

And the way that almost no matter what Tommy said to get Tubbo to lay off, he never did, you'd think he'd trust his best friend a lil bit more? Idk I get where he is coming from, but also Tommy's not an idiot y'know? I'm probably biased (I'm definitely biased)

Praying that they can start to understand how screwed up Wilbur is mentally with the whole "yeah you should kill me since I can't serve Clara I'm useless" thing though something else is telling me nobody's gonna really care except for Tommy (I don't think that's the case, a lot of the others seemed to definitely care)

Also, people comparing Tommy using Wilbur's name to deadnaming just?? Confuse me?? How are those two things?? What/? I absolutely lost it (/pos) when he said Wilbur's name cuz another small step toward improvement!! It'll definitely take a while for Wilbur to actually realize that is his name and he does deserve it, but when that eventually happens we shall all rejoice.

lol yup tubbo didn't think the plan fully through at all, but then again when do the deathlings ever think their plans through? not that often lemme tell you

the thing is, tubbo and tommy have known each other for a long time in glass. even if they're arguing rn, they're very close and therefore very protective of each other. also, tommy is a bit of a known dumbass. there's a reason he has more near death experience tattoos than most of the other deathlings, and it's because he's impulsive and doesn't think about his own safety all that much. so tubbo has a bit of a valid reason for not trusting his judgement on this one.

thank you!! yeah I was so confused when people started comparing it to deadnaming because that wasn't it at all. of course I get the confusion especially in a fandom space like this with a lot of young people connecting things to their own experiences, so it's very understandable if that's the first thing someone's mind jumped to. but still, it just wasn't something i even considered people would think of. i'm so glad you liked that plot point though!! it's a messy situation to deal with but it is a step in the right direction, even if the execution is a bit lacking lol

E: yea is sucks and i was trying to find someone brave enough to go find it

H: well shit.. But hey i can help!!

E: oh thank god thought I was going to have to convince you to do it in that case you and jaxter can go and find the diamond :)

J: WAIT WHY ME?????

E: because you we're in the fight lol but hey don't worry if you lose your job( what you most likely will because how long you're going to be gone) I'll give you guys $2,000 dollars if you can get the Diamond back!

J: look that good bit i have n-

H: great come on new buddy let's go find the diamond!! :D( hyllindrix grabs jaxter and then throws him on his horse) lets go!!

Girl same I absolutely despise Ronance and especially Steddie because it's all people talk about. They don't even care really about individual characters and act like that shit is canon. You can't go through the Robin tag because it's all about Ronance it's like Robin as her own character doesn't exist.

I can't even imagine how the Jancy shippers feel because looking through the Nancy tag is like all about how Ronance is the only thing ever despite it doesn't make sense for Nancy's character to throw herself in another relationship. She's a bad gf as it is, like she needs a friend rather than another romatic pairing.

Same with Steddie they barely interacted but yet people go crazy over any pretty white dude near Steve. Most of the time in canon he seemed to be uncomfortable by Eddie's existence and wasn't even sad about his death. Like I get shipping do whatever but it's still kinda annoying that it overtook everything and that the characters seem to be nothing outside their respective ships.

I’m honestly glade you feel the same sometimes it just feels like I’m being harsh for no reason so I’m glade that you agree! yeah because steddie and ronance are talked about a lot it can be quite draining to only hear about them. Yes honestly they really just don’t care about the individual characters cuz I mean especially Steve and Eddie just get turned into people that they aren’t. And as Steve is my fav character is honestly bothers me that so many people mischaracterize him. Especially if they always have him being Eddie’s bully in the past. Like they make Steve out to be so malicious and it’s so infuriating. Oh my god you are so right about Robin too because I swear even in her own fanon ship she isn’t even herself and allowed to be her own individual. Like some people make her out to be Nancy’s therapist or something and it’s sooo weird. Also it feels weird to me how the first lesbian character in st gets ignored for a stupid ship. And her feelings in canon get ignored with her crush on Vickie like it just seems so weird to me.

Yeah honestly same I can’t imagine how jancy shippers are surviving. Like I’ve never been huge on them but I can admit that they sometimes have really cute and wholesome moments. Yep you are absolutely right like it makes no sense for Nancy to just throw herself into another romance especially when she hasn’t even known Robin for that long. And also the show did go in the direction of having Robin mention that she would be ostracized for being a lesbian so I don’t see them suddenly just being romance buddies. Especially since Robin is selective about who she tells about being a lesbian and I can’t see her telling Nancy all about it. Like it took being tortured by Russian people and being drugged for her to actually open up to someone about her sexuality. Also especially when Nancy’s sexuality has never actually been confirmed in canon and it’s all been speculations/headcanon. And like the fact that Nancy’s side/feelings/sexuality have been taken into account more than Robin’s who is in canon actually a lesbian it fees weird to me. Like to me it would come out of no where with ronance. So it would just come out of no where when vickie and Robin had those scenes together showing that they like each other in the first place. to me it would be very off putting to just suddenly have ronance when Nancy wants a relationship with Jonathan and when Robin wants a relationship with Vickie. And yep you’re right like Nancy needs a friend instead of romance. Like I remember a time when people were just excited about Nancy having another friend who is a girl. And Robin having a friend who is a girl. Meanwhile now it seems like you can’t go anywhere without ‘but look at them being romantic’ and god does it annoy me.

Also I have mutuals who do like ronance so I don’t mean that I’m judging everyone who loves it. I just mean that it isn’t my cup of tea.

At first I was excited about steddie before season 4 came out and then they only had one scene so I was disappointed but not surprised. Honestly I was hoping for more of a rivalry between them and for the rivalry to actually mean something to Steve’s character. Like now he’s getting upset that Dustin is spending time with another person who he thinks is just so cool so Steve is like ‘well I’m getting replaced so how do I fix this’. And then they kind of just dropped the ball on it. And you’re right they only have one scene together and yet people constantly go crazy about it. Yeah Steve is very uncomfortable with Eddie and I wish they expanded on it a little bit ya know. But I guess it is what it is.

Do keep in mind that, at least in its inception in Nauvoo, Illinois, that Mormons were the targets of violent mobs, attempted genocides (look up the Mormon Extermination Order in Missouri, which was not taken off the books until the 1970s), and all sorts of other atrocities. At that time, having a military was probably a good idea, given the general antagonism towards Mormons.

After the death of Joseph Smith, and the Saints relocation to Utah, it seems that the Legion survived, and engaged in military conflicts with Native Americans, which is not good, for obvious reasons. And of course, there is the matter of the Mountain Meadows Massacre, which was never condoned by the Church, and which the church has since publicly apologized for. I dont have much sympathy for the Legion in the years after the Saints left Utah, to say the least.

Mormon history is messy, just like any religions history. There are many things the Mormon Church has yet to apologize for which it hasn't yet. I acknowledge that. I don't think that Mormonism is particularly exceptional in the harm it has enacted in the world. This is not to excuse that, but merely to say that any religious person should be aware of how their religion was misused to hurt others, and to ensure that similar things do not happen moving forward. And it is more honest to acknowledge that your religion isn't perfect.

As a final note, while I understand getting questions about sticker moments in Mormon history, and am happy to answer them, I do feel that this question is just a tad combative. I understand that there is a lot out there about Mormonism, both historically and in the present day, and while I do like talking about these issues, those arent the responsibility of any given church member. Its like how the average American doesnt bear any responsibility for any of the heinous acts the United States has perpetuated. It isnt their fault that any of it happened. All they can do is try to live their best, understand their history, and perhaps try to make America a better country. Some people decide they hate America and want to leave, which is fine. Bit hating America isnt actually productive, and can instead lead people to being apologists for the heinous acts of other countries, with either similar crimes to the US or worse ones. There is nothing that is pure in this world.

I know it seems like I am taking this out on you personally. That isn't my intent. I think that youre asking this in good faith, and that you don't have any ill intent. You cared enough to ask this question, after all, and I don't get any "gotcha" vibes from it. I say all this just as something to think about when you engage with the problematic elements in religion broadly. Its a challenging topic with no easy answers, and reducing it into a simple all or nothing equation is a missed opportunity, in my opinion

-I watched Princess Mononoke for the first time when I was eleven and I think that did a lot to my brain.

-For the worst my mom was very catholic and I have lots of weird anxieties. They've gotten better, but I definitely freak out about weird things because ~catholic guilt~

-I read Jurrasic Park for the first time when I was 10 years old. Like Princess Mononoke that warped my brain, but I also got real good at reading and now read SO much

3: 3 films you could watch for the rest of your life and not get bored of?

-The Mummy (1999), You could argue that this movie isn't good, but its so much fun. I love it dearly.

-Finding Nemo, I watched this 4 times in theatres when it came out. Then they re-released in 3D years later and I saw it then too.

-Spirited Away, This isn't my favorite Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki movie, but its got so much going on and its super fun to watch.

14 what’s something you’ve always wanted to do but maybe been to scared to do?

-Move. For a long time it was because my mom was projecting her own anxieties onto me and was helicopter parenting me to death. Now that its just me and my dad I don't want to leave cuz I actually really like living with my dad. He and I get along great and he lets me be my own person and its nice having him there for me.

24: what’s one thing you’re proud of yourself for?

I used to ballroom dance competitively and at my last competition my partner and I did a tango heat. He and I both hated tango an we both lack the confidence/attitude to pull it off, so we practiced a lot and ended up taking 1st for our age bracket. Woo!

25: fave season and why?

Autumn. It's not too hot it's not too cold and I'm a basic bitch who loves pumpkins and Halloween.

Back in 2020 I got a guinea pig and his little wheeking noises are the best. And when he gets real excited he bounces (popcorns) across the floor and it's so great to see. Everyone should have a guinea pig.

Snake Discovery is also super fun. You learn about reptiles and how to take care of them and all the stuff that goes into running their retptile store/snake breading program. Loads of fun. 10/10

i don't usually share this kind of stuff but this was a first for me soo..

ok so i was w a friend at a bookstore at the mall looking for some new reading material and maybe an oracle deck. So as we walked in i caught a glimpse of a guy at checkout and overheard him say something like "oh the bible is a different story". i thought he was just one of those Unsolicited Public Sermon types so i moved on. We're at the spiritual section now and i was really quietly taking my time. Suddenly the guy i had seen at the front just kinda spawned next to us and was saying he needed to tell us his message cuz if not his soul would be in danger too. He goes on about how he used to mess w tarot and that its really evil and that it led to the death of his brother (?!) He seemed kinda wonky ngl but that's normal where i am so as long as these ppl don't try to follow u out the store, u had a good day. Towards the end of his speech he urged us not to play around w this stuff. TBH i feel like this was the impression bc my friend (who doesn't practice) was just excitedly rummaging through the decks like christmas morning and being very loud about it bc she's very supportive of me, but this does tend to attract attention. ANYWAY. as the guy leaves, he said 'well god bless u' and i said 'yeah u too'. i pretty much just moved on, got a deck and we kept going. Then my friend was saying she didn't like his vibes and that was annoying and i was like 'yeah maybe it was a sign for me to just not spend money rn lol'. Then i started feeling anxious and kept thinking about the guy and how his presence felt heavy and invasive even tho he kept a respectful distance and never tried to make physical contact/his voice wasn't aggressive either. then i thought about going to checkout and realized I never actually checked the price of the deck, so i checked and it was over my budget so i put it back. i only got the book and we left. When we got back to her place i started feeling nauseous and her room was hot but thats usually not that much of a problem for me. But i felt like i was swimming in hot water, i had a never ending migraine, felt weak... .,my friend suggested i cleanse myself w an egg. So i did. As soon as i finished the first Lord's prayer it felt like a layer of my skin was shedding. or like something was shedding/sliding off my body, especially my arms and i got chills and this really overwhelming emotional sensation. I did this until it felt right to stop. Finally, i got dressed and discarded the egg and went back into the room. i was still really shaken up and still felt like i wanted to cry but i never did cuz there was no real reason to. I told my friend about what i felt and we concluded that maybe that guy had had some kind of effect on me bc i was the one making eye contact and i responded when he left. BTW i only responded bc i know sometimes ppl say something that seems innocuous but its their way of cursing you, and depending on who his God is, im not sure who would be "blessing" me so i just returned it to him. because he went off about how tarot is evil but he never gave me an alternative, about coming to Christ or anything like most Christians. So i thought that was interesting paired w what i heard him say when i walked in. So i finally calmed down. aannd then my friend starts feeling the same things i did. So i cleansed her too. And then she threw up. It was really quick and painless but it was like thick, black sludge instead of what's considered "normal" vomit. I discarded that egg and then we went grocery shopping. I was full of energy but now she was the one feeling weak. We were fine by the next day, but that was the most intense thing i've ever felt- spiritually speaking. It sucks that it got to her too but i'm glad i was there to fix it sooo.. yeah idk be careful ya'll cleanse regularly and when the vibes are off return to sender!

Hello!! After seeing what you wrote about xiaoven fics I went to see what things you usually write and omg, your archon Venti headcanons????? I am absolutely in love. So if it isn't annoying, could you talk about xiaoven or Venti or Xiao or whatever ship or character you like? I don't care what you are going to say, I just want to know more about your thoughts ^^

I- is this... bestie, this is essentially a free ramble pass- kerujsgheskdfug. Trust me when I say that in no way is this, and in no way will it ever be annoying in the slightest- i literally- lets just say rambling off thoughts is kind of my specialty, especially when provided a topic to branch off of because otherwise I'm just- really indecisive about it so- iujskdh yeah- 100% definitely down to talk about Venti, Xiao, and/or Xiaoven XD. Also, yes- it may have been awhile since i last posted one(cuz again, indecisive about which direction to take part 5), but the Archon War Era Venti headcanons are still without a doubt my favorite posts I've made. It's just such an interesting topic with such endless potential that so few people actually think about or consider or even realize is there, so i always just get really psyched whenever i see someone interact with them lol.

Anyway! onto the actual content!

- You see the thing about Xiaoven is that there's a lot of different ways that it could end up working out, and just personally my favorite way of portraying Xiaoven in my mind is as an unlabeled relationship because if anyone in genshin would give off that vibe its these two. And a number of other reasons.

- Firstly, I heavily headcanon Venti as being an aroace polyplatonic or perhaps heavily demiromantic. However, regardless of this I just don't think that Venti is really the kind of person to worry about how he should label his feelings, thinking it's silly to try to put them in one box or the other, especially with feelings and emotions being as fluid as they are in general. Plus it fits his whole God of Freedom vibe. I just- dont think he's the biggest fan of labels or social categorization in general.

- And secondly on the hand of Xiao... his defense mechanisms are very much ingrained in his personality. It's probably hard enough for him to not go into fight or flight(the answer is fight) at the slightest affection at first, at the slightest feeling of vulnerability. Even further down the line, with his fierce dedication to Liyue, I cant help but get the vibe that the moment he recognized that he was falling for Venti he would begin avoiding him, not only to avoid distraction from his duty, but to avoid corrupting him or losing him in general like he has with like basically every other person he gets close with(even believing that the cycle had repeated once more when he first heard of Morax's death)... now imagine Venti tryna slap a label on their relationship and tell me Xiao would have a positive reaction.

- The thing with Xiaoven.... honestly, i feel like theres more ways that it can go wrong than it can go right, but if they do manage to make their relationship work out, it's just simply beautiful in all terms of the word.

- Lets talk about killing. - During the Archon War, both were forced to kill a large number of people and gods alike- Venti out of a need to remain alive to protect Mondstadt, it's freedom, and the nameless bard's legacy by extent- and Xiao out of servitude to the god that was once his master

..... actually- break here- ive talked a lot about Venti on this blog but I havent actually spoken about Xiao all that much- so i should probably do that a bit first... do note though that my characterization of Xiao is pretty flexible actually- this is just- the possible characterization of him that i tend to favor as being the most- uh- "realistically complex"

Theres a line I saw this one time in a certain story: "He is a trained weapon. That's what he is, was, and always will be. You cannot change that so stop trying." And i just- think its a really interesting concept- that applies pretty well to Xiao now that i actually think about it. - the concept behind it is this: After spending more than a vast majority of his life killing or otherwise in battle, it's become a part of who he is, a normalcy that after centuries and centuries would be near impossible to get rid of or reverse, and even if it was possible, with his karmic debt constantly eating away at him its unlikely he has enough time left for that to happen. - it sounds like a cruel thing to say about him- but in context it's actually pretty layered and i think about it a lot. It's not as much a "he's a killer lol, that his whole personality" its more of a "The centuries of trauma he experienced have conditioned him into a constantly alert and battle ready mindset while also shaping his dehumanizing inferior-in-worth-but-superior-in-capability view of himself that would have likely been necessary to get through those time, and at this point he's been under that conditioning for long enough that it's essentially ingrained itself in his personality."

- the main idea is- it's a part of who he is, that needs to be accepted as who he is because its not something that he can just up and change. It's not all he is of course but his constant battle mode, as though always waiting to be ambushed or to be granted a new target to eradicate.

a couple character story quotes:

-"His past of service under the evil god had rid Xiao of his innocence and gentleness. All that remained within him was the means to kill and the weight of his sins. The only way he could be of service to mortals was in combat." -"Xiao does not feel any hatred. Having lived for over two thousand years, no single karmic debt constitutes anything more than a fleeting memory. No grudge can last a thousand years; nor is any debt so great that it cannot be paid off in this time. Xiao has spent many long years alone. But his battles have never been in vain." -"where did Xiao have to return to? He was merely leaving the battlefield." -"since Xiao wages a constant war against dark forces powerful enough to devour Liyue in its entirety, any bystanders who witness him in the heat of battle are likely to end up as collateral damage." -"The war he fights can never be won, and will never come to an end." -"Because ultimately, the one with whom Xiao wrestles is himself."

i feel like at some point this very nearly did consume his whole personality, almost turning him into nothing more than a being of slaughter under Morax's control, devoid of any "humanity" at all, consumed and corrupted by his karmic debt like his fellow yakshas before him. - until he experienced a moment of clarity- a song in the wind, the peaceful melody of a dihua flute. - and pulled back from the border of something he wouldnt have been able to return from, there a was a shift in his mind- a concept grown unfamiliar enough with time that it took him a great time to identify what it was; a curiosity. Something that there was no place for on the battlefield, something that by all means should have been completely useless to Xiao, and yet he held onto that curiosity, slowly regaining over time, a sense of who he was and who he could choose to be with each song that the wind chose to carry towards him every once in a blue moon.

and eventually that curiousity turned to longing. Longing "for a day to come when he will wear the mask and dance — not to conquer demons, but to the tune of that flute amid a sea of flowers"

...... uh- heh- if you couldn’t tell already i have a tendency to make my characterizations/analyses of characters more serious that i probably should.

to summarize: Xiao is constantly toeing the line between his ingrained nature and his humanity- almost as though still trying to decide how much of that humanity he deserves to have, how much he is allowed to have, and how much is safe to have.

^looking back after writing this, i think the best way to explain it is that this is the view that i keep in mind/the lense that i tend to most enjoy looking through and refering back to while examining and/or analyzing his character, actions, story, lines, and overall personality.

idk- i kinda got off track but i just think its a really interesting interpretation to think about because it has some really interesting implications ig- it’s not the full extent of how i view him of course, but i kinda got ahead of myself and its long enough as is so ill just elaborate as i go- Lol i actually have in progress playlists for both him and venti and just- vibes- i could ramble about the playlists alone for hours explaining everything... It’s probably a problem- uh- ill keep going now lol.

anyways! stepping off the angst path for a brief break! Brought to you by their lines in the snow: both waiting for it to get thick enough, Venti for the purpose of a snowball fight and Xiao for the purpose of a tasty and nutritious breakfast.

but its actually something of note that Xiao doesnt actually need to eat so anything he does eat is usually out of obligation or enjoyment- so like.... snow.... like i dont blame him, but of all things- an adeptus who refuses to eat basically anything but almond tofu looks at the freezing-cold-floor-water that yeeted itself from above and decided at some point- damn- that seems more edible than basically ever single actually edible thing ever.... im gonna eat it- like- im glad if eating snow makes him happy but- at the same time...

He probably convinces Venti to eat snow too though and Venti wouldnt even resist I mean he’s wind and has probably consumed worse things in his time so- 2 anemo cryptids with glowing tattoos sitting in Dragonspine monching snow in the dead of night is an amusing thought to me.

- kay, now back to more serious-toned thoughts

One of the things about the ship that i really like is the different contradicting parallels between them:

A lot of how i view Xiao’s character is someone formed largely by the things he cant control and who was forced to accept that accepted that and learned to thrive in it as much as he can. Venti on the other hand is surrounded by things he cant control and is ever adapting to control as much as he can while embracing whatever he cant as being part of the unpredictability of the world, seeing beauty in it.

both of them have lost people and do what they do to honor their memory: Xiao continues to do what the Yakshas once did And Venti chooses to do what his friend couldn’t

Xiao’s power coming from himself and Venti’s from others And both seem to appear to use their power for their own gain while truly helping others behind the scenes

both have killed a lot of people during the archon war Xiao views it as another necessary event out of his control and Venti would likely view it as a tragedy he chose to enact himself

and this is where we meet out balance

Xiao- contrary to how i think a lot of people view him as thinking of himself as a monster- seems canonically to have accepted this as part of his duty, as long as those he killed are not mortals. I dont think he enjoys it no- but someone has to do it and he’s just accepted that its a part of his duty Venti on the other hand-

See the beauty of the ship- as someone with an angst-centric mind- is this- these are two of the most traumatized mfers in the game

Xiao is by far the one who needs the most help and who can serve to benefit most from the ship- but he is nowhere near self aware enough to recognize that there’s anything wrong or unhealthy about his mindset in the slightest-

whereas you have the contrast with Venti who sorted through most of his trauma with the nameless bard alone during the archon war and while the result appears more healthy- is still really not- but he’s not self aware of that either because i mean- who’s going to tell him? nobody even knows.

however- venti is aware enough to notice flaws in Xiao’s mindset and “Venti” enough to want to help them through it-

Xiao- while not aware enough to recognize the flaws in Venti’s mindset, can recognize where it contrasts with his own, and is blunt enough to point it out- and then it’s out there to be mulled over-

they’re so similar and yet so different and a feel just conversing between the two of them, being in each others precense, just being exposed to two mindsets that are so very different could do both of them a whole lot of good.

GEEE THAT BIT OF RAMBLING HAD LITTLE TO NO DIRECTION AT ALL- LET ME-- LET ME MAKE THIS START MAKING SENSE- WITH... DYNAMICS OR SOMETHING

I don’t think Xiao needs to sleep really- and i dont think that sleeping would do anything except make him uneasy at first- he’d probably just get nightmares after all he’s been through- but with Venti he would soon learn that it doesn’t have to be that way, lulled into the first peaceful sleep he’s had in... as long as he can remember.

anywho back to not making sense cuz im fickle and i think most questions about ships are best displayed through character interactions so like- a possible exchange thats cliche but cliches exist for a reason

Xiao: Why do you try so hard to help me, it isn’t easy. I know that much Venti, with the most adoring expression: Because you’re worth it, obviously Xiao: But surely there are others more deserving of- Venti: No Xiao, everyone is just as deserving as the next person, you included Xiao: Then why me above others? Venti: ehe, cuz ur my warrior of course [O//////O oh shit, hes right] Xiao: My contract is with Morax alone [gay panic but in broody yaksha]

it’s kinda difficult cuz neither of them really address their feelings. I mean Venti does but he does it very indirectly and its rare that he ever does it with like- genuine directness- even spilling his backstory was in the form of a song- and told in the third person- so a lot of their interactions would often have some deeper meaning, especially with Venti being the bard he is.

I come up with a lot of- errant thoughts about Xiaoven- but this is making me realize that a true analysis of their ship is rather difficult because it just encompasses so many dynamics so its hard to settle on just one and not go rambling about who knows what bouncing from one end of the ship to the other- Because you truly can and thats the beauty of it

within one moment you can be having a heartfelt conversation about the archon war the impact of lost friends and times past, and the next moment Venti is trying to forcefeed Xiao an apple while Xiao screams about disrespecting the adepti and its just- so lovely

so while they have picnics with nothing but apples, dandelion wine, and almond tofu they can sit down and talk about the dreams Xiao once devoured, and the dandelion wine and apple cider that the first Ragnvindir invented from the plants that never could have grown in Old Mond. The foods that tasted of familiarity, or of the grilled ticker fish Pervases always used to eat, foods that tasted of friends and frankly family that had since passed, glaze lilies and cecilias and qingxin flowers scattered in the surroundings and woven into Xiao’s neat braids and Venti’s now messy ones, rebraided by the steady and inexperienced hands of one unused to gentle action.

and then of course Venti steals Xiao’s tofu once the mood becomes too grim and replaces it with a bottle of wine that Xiao refers to as “vile poison,” a remark that fatally wounds Venti as he collapses on the floor, proclaiming how he can only be healed by a Yaksha’s kiss. Xiao ignores this of course and simply takes back his tofu with a slight smile on his face, but as Venti persists he soundlessly places a kiss on his own palm before intertwining their fingers and pulling him back up from where he was dramatically sprawled on the floor, grumbling about how such action was “unbecoming of an archon.” A sign of affection only Xiao would ever know about. But Venti is literally wind and I hc his senses work differently anyways so he definitely knows- plus Xiao’s face is red as the blood of his enemies and the way he is pointedly not looking at Venti at all really speaks volumes anyways.

-Venti playing epic battle music whenever Xiao goes into fights in what looks like a ridiculously extra performance to anyone else but is actually doing wonders to keep Xiao’s karma at bay

-Venti preaches the practice of “kissing wounds better” and Xiao is unfamiliar with this medical treatment but views it as unnecessary regardless because adepti have accelerated healing, doesn’t mean he’s going to stop him though.

-Messages whispered on the wind

-Venti’s 1000 year sleep- an accident, not a fun time for the yaksha, and not a fun time for Venti once he woke up. Venti is actually more afraid of restful sleep than Xiao is, hence the sleeping in trees thing, but when Xiao is there, he can sleep restfully with faith that Xiao wont let another millennia slip through his fingertips.

- Xiao tends to make excuses when doing things that aren’t necessary to his duty, like in his birthday voice line “Have this, it’s a butterfly i made from leaves... Okay. Take it. It’s an adepti amulet -- it staves off evil” because at the current point in his progress it helps him to feel like he’s allowed to do these things. Not wanting to put him off from progress, Venti never comments on his excuse but never fails to whisper a quick reminder of how proud he is of how far Xiao had come.

- Xiao’s karma saddens Venti greatly- not only because of how it effects Xiao but also because its a reminder that as much as Venti tries to honor the memory of those he’s killed, there will always be those who resent him for it, and when he took the option of living away from them, he truly can’t blame them. - And when he gets too wrapped up in thoughts, whether around this topic or similar ones or otherwise, eventually, he’ll hear the sound of a flute on the wind. It’s not divine by any means, but as his own wind connects him to the source, he gets the sentiment all the same. “What impact does one individual’s remaining wrath have on the present. You have done much to help the living in the present” the unspoken idea that Xiao has included himself in that statement, because now, with Venti’s help he’s beginning to learn just how to experience living for himself.

- Venti’s form and Xiao’s mask are off limit topics though because if either mentions it the other will counter with the opposite and the mood will turn immediately bitter at the idea that both know that what they’re doing is destructive but neither are willing to change

- Venti who has different tells for negative feelings than most people because as much as he likes to pretend it is- this form isnt his, and Xiao who is able to identify those

- many fanfics and headcanons have Venti recognizing when Xiao is uncomfortable and getting him out of those situations. I see that and I love it but i raise you: - Venti taking Xiao to Mondstadt, careful that he doesn’t get to the point that he’s uncomfortable. And nothing goes wrong exactly, but Xiao notices the the way Venti’s cape is blowing in the wind, the way he’s holding his weight, barely on his feet so much as floating on the wind, connected with the ground only for the sake of appearance, all the while he looks just as happy go lucky as ever. And without a word, he grabs his hand and teleports them both out of Mondstadt. - turns out it was just a slight thing that reminded him of the archon war (cuz i will die on the hill of him having more tragic backstory than just Decarabian), and he of course gives a sincere if not flustered thanks to Xiao, because he’s really not used to people noticing.

- Venti trying to vent sneakily through fictional stories and Xiao is just like “Didn’t that basically happen to you” and Venti is just like “<_< shit”

- Venti once said affectionally that he wished he had met Xiao sooner and Xiao immediately and seriously shot it down by saying “If you had, I would have been forced to kill you” and both of them now stay up at night wondering who would have won that fight, not sure which result would have hurt more. (because honestly I have no idea who would win in that fight and that terrifies me- I like to think it would have been one of those legends that end with “and the fight persists to this day” or something along those lines)

- “How long have you been together?” “Adepti have no need for-” “1000+ years T^T how dare you deny our love” “O///O our...? ...useless”

- its disney- let me explain- i have this- i have this headcanon inspired by watching too many animatics- - so venti has a human form that isnt his- which he would have had to get used to moving in- and he’s a bard- - uh- anyway- as a third degree black belt in mixed martial arts, i can speak as an authority on this(not really an authority since i havent gone since quarantine but lets pretend). We have a thing referred to as the big three(most things do), and those things are martial arts, gymnastics, and dance. The idea is that they reflect really well off of each other and the best in any one category are good in all three. Timing, balance, form, discipline, technique, hand-eye coordination, grace, ease of motion, they all play a part- anyway-

- Venti taking Xiao’s prowess in martial arts and acrobatics and teaching him how to dance, and as someone who’s extremely skilled in the first two, the third comes easy to him, almost naturally. And it’s delicate and beautiful and lovely and it isn’t hurting anyone. And Venti points all these things out and more and despite how much Xiao insists that he feels ridiculous he truly does enjoy it and it goes a long way towards helping him form more healthy views of himself and his worth. - Verr Goldett walked in on him once and made a joke about performing at the inn. unfortunately Venti was there and agreed on Xiao’s behalf before he could protest and- and it wasn’t as bad as Xiao thought it would be... he still wouldn’t do it again though without reason, but with good enough reasoning he could probably be convinced.

- anyways point is he likes dancing to Venti’s songs and i just think that’s really cute - just picture the idea that all the animatics you see actually have the potential to be canon- ugh

- venti tries holding something out of Xiao’s reach since he’s taller and Xiao just fucking teleports

- both need their space but when they dont, all they have to do is speak the other’s name and they’ll be there.

- and because i just had to.... love languages

- lets start with Xiao- i don’t think he’d view acts of service or quailty time as a love language tbh, and he blunt but really bad with words so affirmation is out, leaving gift giving and physical touch. However, he seems to view most material things as meaningless so- - Xiao who’s love language is in his fleeting touches, something he’s only recently grown comfortable with because of Venti, and now is giving back, which he knows he doesn’t have to do, but that he want’s to, though he’ll still continue to make excuses for each one. “you were shivering” “The inn is high up, you could have fallen..... I said what I said, you’d question an adeptus?”

- and as easy as it is to say words of affirmation for Venti- he does that for everyone- i want to say his is actually acts of service - its the acts of service that let him see just how much Xiao has progressed afterall, from teaching him to dance, to playing another song on the flute, to supplying him with the almond tofu he seems to enjoy so much. Every little thing he does helps Xiao to grow and he couldn’t be happier about that.

- of course most of my headcanons for the ship do take place latter into the relationship because- y’know the less serious unhealthy vibes allow for greater range of thought, but i do still love to think about the serious implications so i kinda hopped back and forth. So sorry about how messy it is btw, i kinda- got carried away- it kinda got some kind of structure near the end tho so- maybe it’s okay. anyway- back to... lol something, we’ll see where thought forests lead.

Considering the fact that nick didn't have any prominent figure in his life, it makes sense that he would look up to gregory so much

THE RELATIONSHIP THAT MIA AND NICK HAD WAS PRECIOUS AND DESERVES MORE THAN WHAT THE FANDOM GIVES THEM

"Larry’s arms wrap around him, squeezing almost too tight" People forget that Larry and Phoenix were good friends too, and Larry would help his best friend

"Nobody believed him, nobody but Mia" Maya is what Phoenix is to Mia and I adore that

"He wishes, desperately, that he’d said it while she was still alive. I loved you. For everything you did." Not you absolutely breaking my fucking heart

Also the first AA game felt unnatural in the sense of how seemingly unaffected Phoenix seemed at Mia's murder so I'm really glad you wrote it this way

no. 2 - Actually fucking flesh out a good relationship dynamic between larry and phoenix

no. 3 - actually! have! phoenix! be hurt! in bridge to turnabout! istg my man would not have dropped from a burning bridge to a freezing river only to have a cold

ok so I have a LOT of feelings for bridge to turnabout and HOO BOY BUCKLE UP

So I always thought that in this fic, miles must have felt fucking awful! I mean he very clearly hates who he was and what that has led to but that must have been doubled over with this case! Phoenix would have died if not for mia and it would have been indirectly miles's fault. I think about that alot

Like he said that he very much regrets whatever he did as bratworth in the phone call with gumshoe but i don't think he anticipated this. poor edgeworth

Also I think this was the final nail in the coffin for miles. Phoenix forgave him, after all the fucked up shit miles did, and that made that man go "how is this guy so fucking compassionate awwwww shit I'm in fucking love with this idiotic brave man".

my main thoughts were "holy shit phoenix must have been feeling awful." like to learn that you were in love with a person who turned out to be a murderer but then not a murderer cuz everything you felt about that was real and just...... it must have hurt. He never fell in love with dahlia. it was iris, always. and WHAT ABOUT MILES DURING THIS!!! Like to learn that the man you love was falsely led to believe that he was in love with a person he rarely met and then learn that his ex who is not murderous might still be in love with him because "that was real. that part was real." like damn. people just gloss over this

also I feel terrible for iris F in the chat for iris lads.

Dahlia literally haunting that courtroom scene. I felt mia's power. I felt her desperation. I felt everything and I am once again in awe of the absolute power your writing holds.
