GUESS WHAT FRIENDS I HAVE BEEN DOING MATH AGAIN no one is going to be happy about it 🥳

1) by the time Delgal reached the surface (6 years pre series), Senshi had been living in the dungeon for 44 years.

He coulda visited on the way up, and probably passed the veggie-golems

2) Thistle kept his dungeon at level 1 (per the canaries’ dungeon guide) for almost 1000 years

Mithrun’s entire span as a dungeon lord was over in 5

Now, Thistle’s did also progress pretty fast from level 2 to 5… but it still took 6 years

This is actually a super similar timeline, especially because we know Mithrun’s dungeon never hit 5… and we don’t actually know what level it got to, since it all depends on when he became a monsterfucker

(His lover’s snake half is referenced here around level 2 - see the gold scrapers

We know that’s the lover because they are always drawn with the unique shirt and hair and the lover is never depicted with legs, which is wild

However, it’s still possible this is a chimera rather than a lamia or naga, which is a level 4 problem… which is when the Canaries usually come dungeon busting anyway)

Of course, the Winged Lion was boxed for the entire span of the dungeon’s rapid development and the Goat wasn’t, which might account for a difference in speed… if Thistle’s dungeon grew much slower

Mithrun, with a fully active demon, didn’t hit the same goal in damn near the same timeframe, so we can infer:

- approximately a 5-6 year turnover on dungeons coming from level 2 to level 4-5 (sooooo that’s a lotta dungeon lords, especially if a change of lord usually forces a reset - Marcille and Laios sure didn’t tho)

- the demon is all one entity, so the cumulative effect from other dungeons around the world may have been used to strengthen the Island’s dungeon

- sinking the continent around your dungeon is a damn good way to keep it contained

- Mithrun was a mid-tier dungeon lord at best, “I wish I never took this job” is a weak ass desire especially when compared to Thistle and Marcille’s desires to Defeat Death and probably why he got spit out - his desire to fuck the demon up seems to be a lot more powerful than a moment of weakness in front of a mirror

(The demon even said it didn’t want to finish Thistle right away and save some for later; it ate the last scrap by accident because it was too dang good so we do know it can choose to leave someone behind… for A Reason:)

- the demon fucking angler-fished Mithrun’s ass by spitting him out, leaving behind only the desire to come back and find the demon again, and letting that build for 40 years. He didn’t reach Thistle levels of maturation but oh boy that’s an intentionally cultivated snack - so how many more of the dungeon lords in the group meeting had the same path

5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Oh jeeze, we'll have to harken back to pre-therapy Mags, well before 2023, for this question. (Current Mags has had a ton of therapy.) Probably I Stole Away and Cried [Supernatural RPF, M, 5.7k words]?

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? I am a lady who loves a happy ending. I'm going to nominate So I Will Weather the Storm [Red, White & Royal Blue, E, 9.8k words] for Happiest Ending in a Mags Fic.

7. Do you write crossovers? I used to write fics with elements of both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Series, but I feel like that... doesn't really count. I also cross canons in the Red, White & Royal Blue fandom... but again it feels like it doesn't count.

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic? Absolutely. The early 2000s were a volatile time on the internets, as we fandom olds say.

Hello again

So I obviously didn't complete the last challenge I did. It became too overwhelming to keep up with, then there was some confusion/arguments about the actual plans that I was preparing for. Somehow, thinking all the time about saving money triggered me to spend $1K on tattoos, and thinking all the time about losing a couple pounds triggered me to binge eat.

Sooooo anyway. Yes, we did go on that trip and yes it was beautiful, though we have a lot of stuff to work through/unpack now, and I don't mean unpacking the luggage.

The reason I'm posting again now is because I've finished looking at all my spending over the last year and I'd like to set some spending goals for 2024.

Overall, 29% went to rent & utilities, 29% to other spending, I saved 23%, and paid 19% in tax. Not bad, really. Except that my savings accounts are behind because of complicated life stuff. So I'm still worrying about increasing my savings as much as possible. Let's take a look at the "29% other spending" category because that's the only one I can really do anything about, unless I want to move in with roommates (ugh).

So it's clear that I can stand to cut down on snacks and prepared foods. It's hard because my life is so busy and boring and frugal that I don't feel like I have anything happy or different in my life, so I'll buy myself a bag of chips or a chocolate bar for a boost. But I guess I can just eat a lot more rice this year instead.

The beverages section has a lot of milk because I was baking a lot of soda bread to use up my flour. I don't currently have any flour so I don't expect to waste money on milk for a while. Most of that category is tea bags, I use 1 or 2 every day. It works out to $1.76 per week, which is a lot less than some people spend on coffee/juice/milk etc, but still I suppose I could just drink water... but I probably won't. Tea makes me happy and keeps me motivated to stay hydrated.

Vegetables. I was eating a lot of salad and veggies in the summer and fall in my efforts to lose some weight, but ohhh man it adds up. I've already cut way down on veggies, now approximately 3 vegetables per week. Obviously not ideal for health but I can't afford that many vegetables.

Fruit. I typically eat 1 thing of berries per week and 1 other fruit each day. Again, for my health I would prefer a lot more of this, but dang it's expensive. Again, because I was making a lot of soda bread, this category has a lot more dried fruit than I typically buy. I don't really want to cut down on my 1 fruit per day/1 berry per week routine. But maybe I can try to prefer frozen fruits instead of fresh? IDK.

Protein... yeah that's a big category. I knew that protein powder and bars are expensive, but I justified it because they are so rich in nutrients and protein and calories. My problem is that I tend to binge eat on protein bars. Horrible habit. I will probably continue my habit of 1 serving of protein per day, but I'll try really hard to never binge on those things again. It's a very expensive mistake.

Personal:

Salon: I really want to be able to go to salons sometimes but I just can't afford it. Sad sad.

Tens unit: I thought I would give it a try to see if it helps. Unfortunately, it doesn't. I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't bought it though, so IDK if I can really say I regret this cost but yeah I wish I hadn't bought it.

Household:

31% storage (meaning, drawers and shelves and stuff in my apartment)

Laundry and rental insurance are pretty much unavoidable. That works out to an average of 1.3 laundry loads per week. I guess I could try to cut down but the machines are small, and I do need clean clothes.

Storage and furnishings are generally one-time purchases, from setting up my new apartment. The other stuff... idk. I've already stopped buying Kleenex, just using a handkerchief now. There's not a lot that I can really cut down on.

I will probably need to buy a scanner this year. I'm really not excited about that because it will cost a lot, but I really do need one.

Travel:

83% plane (one round trip)

11% taxi (3 rides)

6% train (one round trip)

Out of the 3 taxi trips, 1 was necessary (taking the cat to the kennel-- I can't take him on the bus). 2nd one was mostly necessary (going back to work after dropping off the cat -- I guess I could have used PTO to spend an hour or two taking the bus but that didn't seem practical). The 3rd was wholly unnecessary (going to the airport -- I woke up too late to take the bus! D:) I don't normally use taxi or ride shares, but every once in a while an urgent or unusual circumstance comes up.

The plane trip was not strictly necessary for survival, I suppose, but Bae and I decided to do it together, which meant a lot to me. The train trip was not strictly necessary either but it meant I got to spend a week with a dear friend.

Lucky for me, my work pays for my bus fare. And I definitely can't afford a car.

Cat:

57% boarding (for while I was traveling. Not totally sure if I should count this as a cat cost or a travel cost)

Clearly boarding is the big expense here. If I can stay in town and not go anywhere this year, then I can cut down on that cost. Boarding and cat sitting cost about the same, and I prefer not to have a stranger come into my apartment if I can help it. I guess it would cut out my taxi costs though.

Litter and food are pretty unavoidable. Can't starve the cat. The treats are so he will let me cut his nails. I could cut down and give him less treats. He doesn't really play with cat toys so I guess I can stop trying to buy them for him.

Since I'm technically just fostering the cat, his vet bills are covered by the actual owner. So that's great.

Entertainment:

Back in the day I used to go to concerts a lot, but it's an extremely expensive habit. I only went to one this year but it wasn't a big stadium show or anything, just the small east side theater. The streaming is pricier than I'd like it to be. I need to watch more TV so I can finish the shows and cancel that sub.

But the big one... opera... UGGGGH the thought of giving up opera for the year pains me. It pains me. Ugh. But it's SO FREAKING EXPENSIVE. I guess I could start going to operas alone? It's a lot less fun. But it would cut this cost in half. Maybe next year they'll do a bunch of operas I don't like, then I won't be upset about skipping them.

Drugs:

The vape and grinder were one-time purchases, no associated ongoing costs until I run out of weed, which will definitely not happen this year.

CBD is my fav, it makes me feel so good. But it's pricey. I do have a tendency to take more than I really need, so I'll try better to limit myself there.

Getting drinks out is clearly a big drain. I only went out in two months out of twelve this year. It's a really nice way to socialize but maybe I should buy a flask instead.

But the big one is almost entirely 12-packs of beer from the grocery store. I love beer, but it's expensive. I did buy a bottle of booze from the liquor store so it would be cheaper than buying beer. It's not nearly as enjoyable as having a nice cold beer, so it definitely has helped me cut those costs. I think my goal for this year is to favor hard drinks from the liquor store over beer or bars.

Health/meds:

68% doctors (copays and treatments)

I hate how expensive it is to see doctors. I really need to get to a GYN, a dentist, and a dermatologist, but I just can't afford it. It would be amazing if I could also go to therapy someday. Bah. Of course, I don't pay a monthly cost for health insurance thanks to my job, so that is a huge thing to be thankful for. But it means that it's in my best financial interest to ignore my health interests and try not to see doctors.

The topical med didn't work so that was a disappointing cost. I don't take melatonin every day but it does help sometimes when I do. The cold meds were for when I had covid and was just trying to get through it. Cold meds are expensive. But fortunately I haven't been sick in a long while. I don't socialize a lot, I don't work in a germy environment, I live alone, I get my shots, and I wear a mask.

Restaurants:

3% of my spending went to restaurants... I didn't even go out that much but dang. More rice at home, less eating out.

Hobby:

50% plants

Yeah so I clearly spent too much on plants this year. The lights, shelves, poles, acllimator, heater, and cups are one-time purchases. I could stand to replace my chemicals but I probably won't. The snail died. :( Most of the shrimps died too. I might buy more plants, shrimps, and snails this year, but then again maybe not.

Clothes:

Strictly speaking, none of the work clothes are necessary because our dress code is casual and I really only need one nice outfit for work, on those rare days when we are asked to dress formally. But personally I like to have a separate professional wardrobe for the office. My work wardrobe is pretty complete now, and I don't foresee work clothes to be a major category this year.

I had to replace my purse because it fell apart. Won't be buying more bags anytime soon. Same with the swimsuits. I think my shoe collection is finished until anything falls apart, but I do kinda want to replace my Vans because they're quite old. Base items like bras, undershirts, leggings do need to be replaced every once in a while, but right now I'm not in need of any new clothes.

Gifts/donations:

2% is a bit high I guess. I feel pretty guilty that I don't have time for activism or volunteering, so I like to donate to charity. Similarly, I don't have time to hang out with my friends so I like to buy them gifts. I tried to become a blood donor but they don't like my blood. If I cut down on this category, what good will I be doing for the world? Maybe taking care of my own needs and my savings account is a higher priority and I'll know that I'll do my part later on.

CONCLUSIONS

Should I move to a shittier place with roommates? Moving itself is really expensive, but maybe overall my savings would be enough to justify the worse living conditions and worse location in the city? I don't want to though.

Try to base most of my diet on grains.

Continue to not buy clothes unless I really need them.

$1300: Try to avoid tattoos and salons. :(

$900: Be more aware of how many fruits and vegetables I'm consuming.

$700: No bingeing on protein bars!

$600: Buy less snacks and prepared foods. I can still treat myself sometimes but I need to be a lot more intentional about it.

The next week had been relatively uneventful. Mrs. Flynn gave you both an A on your budget for the first week.

She also drew the next weekly condition, which for you was a $300 doctor’s visit of one family member.

“Well that’s stupid. If this were real life, we wouldn’t even need to take our kids to the doctor as PA’s,” Tom argued.

“First off, it’s not real life, and secondly, what if the kid broke a bone? Who’s gonna cast it, genius?”

“Well we probably wouldn’t have to pay,” he grumbled

When Friday afternoon hit, you were almost disappointed to see Tom not in the stands for your game, but remembered that the team had to start all their pregame rituals a couple hours before kickoff.

After crushing the competition, you took a quick shower and put on the shirt every senior was supposed to wear and walked to the field, where some of your friends had already claimed a spot on the bleachers. 

It was still a half hour before kickoff, so you talked as they helped put paint streaks on your cheeks and tie ribbons in your hair to show school spirit. You also watched the boys run drills until they were called to the sidelines for the national anthem. 

The team captains met for the coin toss, and as Tom and his co captain headed back to the team huddle, Tom spotted you in the crowd and pointed directly at you.

You didn’t know what he was doing so you quickly flipped him off and went back to your conversation.

They ended up winning the game by a field goal, and true to his word, Tom had actually played pretty well, aside from getting sacked towards the end of the game. 

You and the girls, not yet wanting to go home, hung out in the parking lot as families left.

“Hey, look. It’s your husband,” Alexis pointed out as Tom and a couple other players came limping down the lot with bags in tow. They were still wearing their football pants but had removed their jerseys, leaving on sleeveless compression shirts.

“Ugh. Don’t remind me. But I will say, his mom already loves me. We’re on a first name basis.”

She gave you a little low-five out of pride.

You couldn’t help but notice Tom pull the necklace out from under his shirt’s collar, the ring still attached.

Did he wear that the whole game?

He spotted you from a few yards away and yelled out,

“Hey hey hey. What did I tell you? Swooning yet?” he held his arms out as if to show he was right.

“Not quite, bub. But I’ll give you that touchdown pass. Don’t forget we have to work on the budget tomorrow!”

“Yeah yeah, see you then, princess.” He waved a hand as he continued on to his car.

Ugh. Princess.

Tom had been calling you that ever since the time freshman year you were the leading princess in a school play. 

You had hated the role for many reasons. 

For one, the character had no development and was basically dumb and defenseless (aka the exact opposite of you and everything you stood for). On top of that, the costumes were hideous, and what should have been a couple of pretty ballgowns and flowing skirts ended up being completely unflattering in color, shape, and style.

Everyone knew you hated it, and Tom loved to rub that in your face.

Eventually, you decided to retire home for the night since you had had such a taxing day.

You rang the Holland’s doorbell again, and this time it was opened by Tom’s youngest brother, Paddy. He was in the 5th grade, so you didn’t know him well. 

A perfect opportunity to make a good impression.

“Hey there, Paddy. Is Tom around? We’re supposed to work on our project today.”

“I’m not sure where he is, but I’m sure I can find him. Come on in.”

“Oh thank you. So polite.”

He sheepishly looked down as his face reddened. 

“I’ll be right back.”

He ran to the stairs and disappeared up them. A few minutes later an exhausted looking Tom appeared at the top of the stairs next to his brother.

“Come on up, I need to take a piss before we get started.” he called down, ever the charmer. He rubbed his eyes. He was only wearing a pair of sweats.

You followed his word and sat down on his bedroom floor, pulling up the documents on your computer as you waited. He came back wearing a shirt, a mug of coffee in hand.

“Want some? I made it fresh. I just woke up if you couldn’t tell.”

“No thanks. I don’t drink coffee, I find it disgusting. Caffeine addiction’s bad for you anyways.”

He looked down at the drink and back at you.

“Well we can’t all be perfect little princesses.”

You wanted to slap him, but just fired back with an insult and got to work. There wasn’t as much to do today other than reallocate the funds for the appointment and make up a story of what could have happened.

You both laid on your stomachs looking at the screen. As you typed, you heard heavy breathing and glanced over to see Tom had fallen back asleep.

Wow. He almost looks nice when he’s sleeping. What a disappointment.

You finished your paragraph and shook him awake.

“Ugh. sorry. I told you I’m a mess after game days.”

He went to push up to a sitting position when he winced, inhaling sharply. He put his head back on the ground.

“Woah there. Are you okay?”

“Yeah, just pulled a muscle in my back last night. I think it’s from that sack.”

“Do you need me to get you something? LIke icy hot or some advil? I carry both at all times.”

“Icy hot would be perfect. I already took some painkillers.”

You shifted up and grabbed your backpack, pulling out the tube. You tossed it next to him to use.

“I hate to ask this, because you’re you, but could you put it on for me? I don’t think I can reach.”

You hesitated, but agreed since you knew what it felt like to be in pain like that. 

“Okay. Give me a general idea of where it is and I’ll poke around to find it.”

“Just under my shoulder blades on the right.”

He pulled up his shirt and you went to touch his back lightly. He flinched when your fingers graced his skin.

“Oh yeah, my hands are cold by the way.”

“No shit.”

You put your hand back, pressing lightly until he winced again, then you put a small amount of the ointment on your hand, massaging it in.

 You rhythmically rubbed your hand over the area in little circles, trying to loosen the tight muscle with your palm. You didn’t think much about it until he let out a moan, and you pulled your hand back like he was on fire.

“Oh my God I’m so sorry. It just felt so good on that spot and it just slipped out-”

“Let’s just agree to never mention this again. I’m gonna go wash my hands. And hopefully my brain while I’m at it. Where’s your bathroom?”

“Just across the hall. Can’t miss it.”

A little bit later and you were finally done for the day, so you helped Tom up and again packed your things.

“Sorry again about earlier. Thanks, though. It really helped.”

“Like I said, we don’t need to talk about it. Just never make that sound again, please. See you Monday.”

And with that you were out the door.

Another week, and Mrs. Flynn gave you another A and a budget condition.

Both you and Tom again won at your respective sporting events, and you again went to Tom’s.

Throughout the week, you and Tom had been on your usual game, firing shots. But at home it was like he was a different person. Sure you still jabbed at each other occasionally, but there was a more friendly aspect to it this week.

You were sitting on the floor when you felt a familiar pain in your lower abdomen.

You ignored it for a minute, but then it hit twice as strong. Immediately you shot up.

“I'm going to the bathroom,” you stated, speaking quickly.

“Uh. Okay?”

You rushed in and as you sat down pulled up your period tracker app. 

You weren’t supposed to start for 4 more days.

Well that’s a lie you thought as you caught a streak of red upon wiping.

You dug through the under-sink cabinet, hoping and praying to find something, anything you could use. When that came up dry, you just stuffed up some toilet paper and resigned to getting a tampon from your backpack.

A sense of panic filled your chest, however, when you realized the little bag you kept with extra supplies was nowhere to be found. That’s when you remembered that you had taken it out to replenish and apparently never put it back.

“Oh no. Oh no no no!”

There wasn’t even a single liner at the bottom of the bag.

“What’s got you in a tiff, princess? Don’t we have everything we need already?”

You sighed. You weren’t one to announce when you were on your period, since guys liked to believe that all women become bitches when they bleed. But you were desperate.

“Look, I know you’re gonna make fun of me, but I just started my period and don’t have anything to deal with it and I don’t know what to do.”

“Can’t you just hold it?”

“Ha ha good one. Seriously though I don’t know what I’m gonna do. If I don’t figure out something fast, I’ll bleed through my pants.”

Tom looked at you confused.

“Wait a second,” you started. “You weren’t serious right then, right? Like you do know it’s something women can’t control?”

“WHAT?” he exclaimed. “You can’t?”

“You know, for someone who calls himself so smart you sure are a dumbass. How do you know nothing about periods? You play football, haven’t you had a girlfriend before?”

He got quiet.

“No. I’m too busy competing with you that when I do get free time, everyone gets really intimidated by you.”

“Oh... “ you didn’t know what to say, but then a cramp hit you like a ton of bricks and you doubled over. “Ugh. could you just go get your mom? I need to go back to the bathroom and try not to throw up.”

Eventually, Nikki came and left some midol, tampons, and a heating pad for you and you were able to go back to Tom’s room, finding him leaning against his bed. He sat up straight when you walked in.

“Are- are you okay? You seemed to be in a lot of pain earlier.”

You plugged in the heating pad and turned it on, laying down on your back so you could drape it across your stomach. The midol hadn’t yet kicked in.

“Yeah, I’m good. It was early this month and I just wasn’t prepared,” you said staring at the ceiling, but turned your head to look at him. 

“Sorry if what I said was insensitive. I just figured you knew more about it than the average guy and I was so panicked that I wasn’t thinking straight. I’ve never had a boyfriend either. Same situation.”

“Hah, nerd.” 

You rolled your eyes and threw a nearby pillow at him. 

“Like you have room to talk. Now let’s just finish this so I can go home and take a nap.”

When you got to home ec Monday, you hadn’t spoken to Tom since leaving his house Saturday. Frankly, you were embarrassed about the situation still and figured he felt awkward too. 

Then, of course, you learned that Mrs. Flynn had decided to throw the class a curveball to tie the marriage project into regular class assignments.

For a unit on sewing, she was making each couple work together to make a small “marriage quilt” approximately the size of a baby blanket. Partners would have to work together to choose the colors, make a design, and sew it together within 2 weeks in class.

So there you were, sitting in the back corner of the room discussing design options and drawing up a pattern with Tom.

Upon realizing you both loved blue, you decided to make a blue based quilt. There would be little teal and pink accents as well in a couple of the fabrics you chose.

You sat in silence as you both cut small squares of fabric and batting. Other groups were talking, but things still felt heavy.

“Hey, uh. About Saturday…” Tom began quietly from the right of you.

“Please don’t bring it up. Everything turned out fine so let’s just keep it that way. I don’t need you to embarrass me more.”

“No, it’s not that. I just… what you said got me thinking. I know about all kinds of stuff and I’d like to go into medicine one day, but I know nothing about women’s health. So, I spent a good portion of yesterday researching and honestly, I had no idea how much you all go through. We may hate each other, but I respect you a lot more than before.”

“Oh. Wow. You know, I’m sure you read about it yesterday, but it’s super different for everyone. I wouldn’t even consider mine nearly as bad to some peoples’. But that’s really nice of you. And just because we hate each other doesn’t mean I won’t offer to let you ask me questions whenever. Education is way more important than any rivalry.” 

He smiled slightly and looked down at his desk, then back up, putting out his left fist. 

“Is a fist bump a good enough agreement to let each other ask any kinds of questions like that, no malice intended?” he asked.

You smiled back and hit your right fist to his left one. Eventually you went back to your normal arguing, but you couldn’t stop replaying the scene in your head.

Sci-fi shenanigans!

Hello ladies, gents and fellow rpers. After having a writing blast and seeing how I’ve got room for some more partners I’ve decided to come back in search of some partners who are interested in what I’m looking for.I’ve got a good ten or so odd years of rping experience under my belt but any potential partners do not necessarily have to have the same experience, they simply need to fit under these three things: -third person only with correct spelling, grammar and punctuation. - at least one small (no less than seven lines) paragraph per post as well as being willing to write more if the situation calls for it. Please do not contact me intending to give me only small paragraphs with each response as the above is simply the bare minimum I’ll accept if there’s not much going on in the rp that warrants a full paragraph. -no one liners, one worders, script talk, poorly written sentences or just laziness in general. This isn’t terribly much to ask for as picky as it sounds. An important thing I shall mention is that NSFW (i don’t fade to black nor do I care when the smut happens. Just please don’t leave me once the smut has happened like lots of people seem to unfortunately do) and dark themes are a thing that occur in all my rp’s so I require you to at least be eighteen before you reach out to me. I will not accept anyone younger than 18 since I myself am in my early twenties. Underaged characters are also a no go as well. Please know that I’m in the eastern Australian time zone but almost any time zone Is compatible for me as I am awake at very odd hours. Another important thing I shall add is that you must be able to post at least once or more a day and if I don’t get any response after two weeks then I shall simply move on (only exception is if you notify me beforehand as to why you may not be able to post for a while. I’m not that vicious). I only rp as male characters, as it’s simply my preference, but I will do either MxM or MxF pairings. I will not double and I do not play multiple characters. I don’t do sub/dom dynamics when it comes to any aspect of the relationship. My characters are also non human (they’re aliens since this is a sci-fi rp after all) but what species your character is doesn’t matter to me at all as long as it’s not some god modded Mary Sue. Please remember that alien simply means a creature not from earth. Aliens can have fur, scales, feathers, etc, depending on where they come from. An alien with fur or scalies is not a furry or a scalie and please do not refer to them as such as it’s rude to label someone’s character as something they’re not. I will not write with someone who will insist that the theory of chimpanzees and humans unable to crossbreed should apply to hybrid characters regardless of whether they’re alien/alien or human/alien. This is fiction, not reality. Please also do not control my characters or dictate their actions. My characters are also premade and only have descriptions, I don’t do face claims or pics. I also do not care if you make a character up on the spot. Please remember that this is a sci-fi rp and that I will not accept requests to do fandoms or any genre that doesn’t fit within the category of sci-fi.i will not accept a character that has no place in a sci-fi rp either like a dragon,harpy,demon, elf or some other fantasy creature. I do have a few ideas and I’ve listed them down below: Space criminals and the law: *humans and aliens have been living amongst each other side by side ever since humanity dared to venture beyond the Milky Way and made first contact with aliens. With the solar system no longer being man’s only playground other planets were quickly colonised under the new alliance between extraterrestrials and Homo sapiens. Whether you were an alien, human or a hybrid did not matter in the known galaxies. All that mattered was who you were. Not everyone took to the integration very well (there were numerous protests on both sides) but most people were willing to share in the hopes of peace. Not everyone had good intentions though……* Trouble in the alien kingdom: *the planet of (insert generic planet name here) was one of prosperity, hardship and wealth. The kingdom of (insert generic kingdom name here) was ruled by a king and a queen whose heir was betrothed to a rival planet in the hopes that a political marriage would prevent another war from happening. Only problem was that no one could see the rival planets true plans….all but one. Unfortunately no ones going to listen to a deranged commoner who probably may not even be telling the truth. What’s one to do when no one will listen?* Exile: *The wind howled as thunder crashed and shrieked all around the abandoned cargo ship. Rain pelted the metal hull, turning the ground into a cold, treacherously slippery and muddy shallow river. The ship itself had crashed into the planet countless centuries ago and was slowly being reclaimed by the environment. Plants grew from cracks in the floor as moss and vines decorated the walls. A figure sat miserably hunched in what was once the cockpit of the ship, their only shelter from the raging elements outside but not from the storm that raged inside of them. The figure leapt to their feet as the sounds of footsteps in the mud drew closer and they held their breath. Who would dare to venture out here on such a miserable night?* War of the worlds: *humans and aliens were never meant to coexist peacefully with one another. There was too much fear, Too much misinformation and too much bias on both sides for such a thing to have ever been successful. It was the humans fault that the war had started. They were the ones who’d shot down the alien ship that had been packed with specially chosen diplomats that represented each alien race known to the galaxies they dwelled in that had been on their way to earth to negotiate a truce and a plan for peace. They hadn’t even hesitated to shoot the ship full of aliens yet they’d been surprised when war had been declared on the spot. Two races. Two worlds so different yet the same fighting one another for what was either a mistake or intentional murder.* Rehab: *The UGWP alliance (unite the galaxies for the protection of all worlds and for peace alliance) portrayed themselves as calm, charismatic and kind men and women who held only the thoughts of a life together with all species living happily together. They advertised campaigns for inter species jobs, provided information to the public about human/alien interactions and encouraged diversity amongst planets. Their rehabilitation program for troublesome fellows was considered to be a god send to try and cut down on the amount of space related crimes. No one ever questioned what went on beyond the closed doors to the facility, if they did, the UGWP would have their darkest secrets revealed. Something they strove to keep under wraps. When the arrival of a particularly wild prisoner occurs, the threat of their first failure and first escaped prisoner is lurking around the corner.* (Important point of notice: in this rp idea I’d be playing said prisoner, I don’t mind if you choose to be one as well.) Academy days: *the galaxy alliance and military defence force academy was one of the most respected training academies in the known galaxies. Men, women, aliens, humans and all of those who were in between went there to study, train and, one day if they passed the mentally, emotionally and physically gruelling years of tests, fly and be put in their own squadron. There were approximately six spots to fill on any team and the cadet who suited that spot the most would be given the title of pilot, squad leader, second in command, engineer, gunner and navigator. Each team was similar but unique in what they did. Not everyone gets along though and rivalries grow high during that delicate time between graduating and being put on a team. What happens when the top student and the lonesome outcast with a temper clashes?* Captured: *Space criminals have been around ever since advanced technology allowed others to travel and live in space as if they were living anywhere else. They’re often cunning, tricky to catch and more often than not are clever at disguising themselves whenever those wanted posters come up. It takes skill to be on the wrong side of space law and true talent to get away with it. The galaxy's current most wanted man has finally been captured by an alliance captain and his crew. Will he beg for mercy? Will he be given a trial before being thrown into a cell to rot or will he be given a chance to turn himself around with some hard labour?* (Important point of notice: I’ll be playing the criminal for this one. You will be the alliance captain) Enslaved: *imagine living the life of one of the most successful people on the run that could exist. Galaxies trembled at your name. You and your crew swam in wealth and the going was good. Mutiny, sadly and sometimes not sadly, exists on its own accord. One man reflected on this as he was forced to his feet. A collar attached to a chain and electromagnetic handcuffs prevented his escape as he stood for all those who cared to glance as they walked by in the market to see. No one wants to have their only life’s purpose to be to serve another......only sometimes people don’t get that choice.* (Important point of notice: I’ll be playing the slave/servant. You’ll be the master/mistress.) Sooooo..... about those pairings. What is in Bold is what I’m going to play if we choose the scenario: 1: enemies to lovers or rivals. 2: **captured criminal** x prison guard or other prisoner. 3: two soldiers from seperate sides falling in love. 4: **academies bad boy** x top student 5: **low ranking ship crew member/second in command/captured space criminal** x captain. 6: **commoner/rogue/street rat** x prince/princess. 7: **slave/servant** x master/mistress. 8: army superior x **lower ranking soldier**. 1. what’s your favourite genre to write? 

I’ve been an angst queen approximately for ever. I like to dig down into the characters and find out what makes them tick, and that usually means there’ll be some angst in there somewhere.

2. do you pull inspiration from real-life, or do you pull things from other books/fanfiction you’ve read? 

Both and neither. My main inspiration comes from the characters. The question I always ask myself when I’m writing is: How do the characters feel about this? The answer to that comes firstly from my perception of who they are and how they think and feel, but of course that is informed by my more general understanding of how those sorts of emotions work. Some of that comes from my personal experience, some of it comes from books I’ve read or TV shows and movies that I’ve watched, and some of it comes straight out of my imagination. I would say that only I know which is which - but half the time I don’t know where anything I write comes from. I just write.

3. do you tend to write one-shots, short stories, or longer things? 

I think this question is designed to make anyone who knows me even a little bit start laughing. Let’s just say that I have two writing modes: drabbles of exactly 100 words and “Who the hell knows how long this thing will be?” (See my current ficlet, which clocks in at 36k at the moment and is not yet finished.) I have written one-shots, short stories, and longer things over the years, though.

4. do you prefer to write description or dialogue? 

Description all the way. I’m very visual as both a reader and a writer, and I need to be able to ‘see’ what’s going on, even when characters are talking. I’ve been told that I write dialogue well, but it never comes as easily to me as writing description.

5. favourite fic/book of all time? 

I can’t possibly answer this question in relation to books. I’ve loved too many books for too many different reasons.

As for fics? There are sooooo many. So many different fandoms, so many great and classic fics. My favourites are rarely just about the writing, though. They’re also about the memories that go with them, particularly when I know the authors.

If I had to choose a single one, though, I think it would still have to be A Bed of Thorns, a massive OUAT rumbelle fic by Nym, which is longer than War and Peace and still a WIP. I have never encountered another fic quite like this one, in any fandom, and I would probably still choose it just because of that. But Nym is also one of my closest friends, for getting on for twenty years now, and I beta-ed A Bed of Thorns, too. So my feelings about this story are not just about how individual and brilliantly written it is, but also about the many discussions I had with Nym about the characters and the story and writing in general.

Remember I said above that I like digging down into the characters to find out what makes them tick? Well this story is a master class in that.

6. favourite trope? 

Arranged marriages, fake relationships, accidental marriages... Anything that forces the characters into a situation of intimacy and makes them get to know each other whether they like it or not. Not so much a favourite trope as a bulletproof kink, to use the terminology from Ye Olden Fandom Tymes.

7. are you the kind of person to work on more than one WIP? 

I don’t WANT to be, and I try my best not to be, but... they sort of happen to me. *hangs head*

8. how long have you been writing for? 

I have written things going right back to primary school, but mostly I wrote things in my head, told myself stories, and didn’t bother writing them down, until I started writing fanfic. That was 21 years ago.

9. do you tend to write more during the morning, afternoon, or evening? 

I’ve always done most of my writing at night, for a variety of reasons.

10. do you prefer to post and update your WIP chapter by chapter, or do you prefer to wait until your WIP is 100% finished before sharing it? 

I used to post most of my fic as one-shots, because most of the people I knew were pretty anti-WIP. Some of my older one-shots would have been many chapters if I’d approached them as WIPs. And for me that meant that my fics often took a lot longer to write, because I had no way of stopping myself from going back and tweaking in the middle of writing. I much prefer to post WIPs as I write, because I can write a chapter, toss it out into the world, and then it’s done and I can concentrate on the next one.

so i’m 4 months into the phandom and these are my current (approximate) stats:

Dan’s channel: Definitely have not seen every video. But I think over 50% of them. A few side channel vids def nowhere near all.

Phil’s channel: Phil has A LOT of content. I feel like I’ve at least sampled things from each ~era, but have watched probably less than 50% (but more than dan just by numbers). Again, haven’t watched many side channel vids (mostly if they were linked from here for some reason, same as for dan).

Gaming Channel: I’m trying to savour these? I’ve watched...most I think at this point? Definitely have my favourites that I’ve watched multiple times (GOLF! GOOGLE! HEARTTHROB!). Undertale was epic and I need to re-watch that. Have almost finished the Sims (Dab+Evan f o r e v e r). Have tried to watch some spooky vids, but they scare me lol (though they are also hilarious). I’ve watched most baking. It’s amazing the difference in tone between, like 2014 and 2017/2018, eh? Bitter they didn’t finish Dream Daddy tbh.

TATINOF: have watched fully once and jumped around to different parts to rewatch. Same for the bts doc. I still have a Youtube Premium subscription because of these lol (though watching without ads is also nice).

II: watched fully twice (once with commentary) and again jumped around a lot to rewatch bits.

TABINOF: Listened to the audiobook (SOOOOO GOOD!) also have the real book - have flipped through but not read thoroughly

DAPGO: I have the physical and kindle versions. Again, have flipped through, but haven’t read every single caption thoroughly

liveshows: I’ve watched some? I’ve definitely seen all of Phil’s new ones. For the old ones, I’ve watched a few beginning to end but mostly just timestamps of epic stuff people have linked to.

BBC Radio Content: Man, there is a lot of this. I feel like this is a whole world I haven’t explored yet? I’ve seen a few Dan vs Phils. Sometimes I’m just like “oh yeah, they did RADIO for YEARS” lol

Brit Award stuff: I think...most of it? There aren’t that many and they are very cute (like the behind the scenes tours and stuff)

super amazing project: nothing yet. i don’t even really know what it is lol.

apartment red: same as above lol

fanfiction: oh, girl. i eat fanfiction for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. it’s the backbone of every single fandom i’ve ever been in. the other fanworks (art, videos, gifs, edits) are also amazing and i applaud all the creative people in the phandom!

overall favourite content: well, anything joint, honestly (though their solo stuff is awesome too). the day in the life series is a winner. anything really gay/with lots of innuendo wins for me. MUKBANG. GIVING THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT. GOLF.

observations: they have both changed SO much over the years, especially dan. fetus dan is, like, almost a different person than current!dan. they both mention fans shipping them in their respective dis tracks and i may have died of the embarrassment (please please give me the illusion of a 4th wall).

anyway, sorry for this long text post. i’ve really, really enjoyed my time in the phandom so far! when i fall for a new fandom I tend to fall hard and fast lol. woops. i’ve basically gone from “oh these two guys I’ve vaguely heard of came out, eh?” in july to “OMG THEY ARE MY ENTIRE LIFE” now lmao.

top five places you’ve been in the worldd

1. London, England (February 2017)

Arriving in a place I’d been dreaming of visiting for half my life, after my very first flight (which I did by myself), and getting to hug my cousin/best friend after months of being apart, was like finally remembering how to breathe. I cried while strolling through Central London the last night I was there, and dropped everything to return to the city in August 2017. My desktop background is a photo I took at the top of St. Paul’s Cathedral, while my laptop background is a photo of the sunset from Tower Bridge. I could never live there (because I’m too poor), but exploring the city that first time was life changing and I’d go back a million times.

2. Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh, Scotland (also February 2017)

I had one night and one day only to explore Edinburgh and we chose to spend most of that time at Edinburgh Castle. My first proper taste of whiskey was there, and the presentation on medieval torture/punishment was fascinating. It was gloomy and rainy for five minutes, then beautiful blue skies appeared out of nowhere. We finished the day at Greyfriar’s, rubbed Bobby’s nose, then got in an Uber. Castle on the Hill started playing as we drove to the airport and I could’ve cried at how perfect it all was. Best spontaneous adventure and I can’t wait to return to the city to explore properly.

3. Southampton, Ontario, Canada (circa 1992 - approximately 2003)

This is the town that shaped me. To sit on the beach and watch the sunset on a Saturday night in summer, listening to the bagpiper play and my grandparents talk behind me, skipping stones across the waves, chasing my brother through the surf, sailing toy boats off the cement slab over the old town well, going on ghost walks and hearing stories of the sailors who built a town on sacred land, visiting the reserve and the little red barn, playing in the house that always felt more like home than anywhere else... every moment spent growing up there was a gift I still cherish. The town has changed a lot since I was a kid and it’s less the place I remember so fondly now, but it was once the only place in the world where I felt like I could be exactly as I was. It’s also heralded as having the best sunsets in Ontario, I’m pretty sure, so you can just imagine how incredible they are.

4. Carrick-a-Rede, Northern Ireland (September 2017)

My goal in 2017 was to get to every country in the United Kingdom at least once. (The only one I didn’t put feet on that year was Wales.) We stayed in Belfast and spent most of our time adventuring along the coast to see the various sites. Being near the sea and in the cliffs was incredibly therapeutic for my soul, but Carrick-a-Rede stands out above everything. I got separated from my cousin while we were there, so I spent most of my time on the island by myself just... looking. It was such a gorgeously clear day and I don’t think I’ll ever have the words to describe how beautiful all the colours were. It was my first time seeing the ocean and I couldn’t possibly have picked a better spot to see it from.

5. Algonquin National Park, Ontario, Canada

This one doesn’t need dates, as I’ve been a few times and driving into this monstrosity of a park will suck the breath from your lungs anytime you go. Canada is pretty dense with trees anywhere, but Algonquin is a whole other level of intensity. My first time there, I was driving my little blue Sunfire GT, loaded with camping gear, behind my high school best friend’s car. There were no other cars around us and it felt suddenly like entering a horror movie... I had flashbacks to those creepy Forest Ranger stories from Reddit. But above the fear, this is the most stunning area of conserved forest and natural wildlife and it would take a lifetime to explore everything it has to offer. The Group of Seven’s artwork is but a taste of it’s far reaches. (That first camping trip it rained so hard, our tent began floating and we had to pick it up and move it to higher ground in the middle of the storm. It’s one of my fondest memories.)

There are sooooo many other places I want to mention, but these were the first fond memories that came to mind.

Behind him, blurry from the slightly out of focus camera, is a messy room: the bed in the corner unmade, the desk filled with clutter, the floor covered with papers. It’s obvious that he’s still in school, whether it be from the crowded space or from the stacks of university textbooks placed randomly around the room. (A strand of fairy lights is hung up slightly crookedly along the ceiling. A lit candle sits just inside the frame. The flickering of both is quite distracting.)

There is a lot be learnt about Simon just from the first 30 seconds. The way he pauses after every few words alludes to unsureness and insecurity, but the set of jaw and the look in his eyes show defiance and determination. He seems like a spontaneous person; he has no script or plan on hand, he simply flits from one topic to another as he thinks of them. His blond curls practically bounce with his enthusiasm, and he gesticulates so much he almost hits his lamp four separate times. Nevertheless, he is quite endearing with his delighted smiles and quiet laughter. And his moles.

“Hey guys! Simon here. Simon Snow. Not that any of you guys would know who I am or my name. I’ve decided to start a YouTube channel, but I guess you guys know that. Wait, duh, of course you would if I post this. Penny says that it’ll help me talk more confidently and freely, as I’ll be talking to you guys here—“

The video is only approximately 30 seconds long, but there are already traits that are distinctively Baz. He sits with his back straight, shoulders squared, head tilted a tiny bit up. It appears as though there is a permanent scowl fixed on his face. His speech is proper and doesn’t seem to include slang, and his vocabulary is (assumably) quite large. He speaks with a steadiness and precision that comes with years of training and natural charisma. He’s also placed his laptop (the newest MacBook Pro) on a stool in front of him, presumably with a script or notes pulled up. His hair just brushes his shoulders, moving a tiny bit when he turns his head, and his eyes are a stormy grey. His haughty and mysterious aura pull people in and keep them there, surprisingly.

“Hello. My name is Baz. Welcome. I’ve finally decided to start my own YouTube channel. You may know me from Ag’s channel, as I often appear in her vlogs, or from around the YouTube community in general. I’m not certain as to what type of content I’m going to be putting on this channel, so I’ll end this video here. So upon seeing this anime in my PTW i was thoroughly confused. I like yaoi from time to time but I don’t actively look for it. Then I suddenly remembered; one of my friends in like 8th grade was bugging me constantly to watch this because it’s “so HOT NGHNGHGH”. Well Fruzsi it’s been like 7 years now but I finally watched it!

The story is set in some futuristic world in another planet. The society is ruled by machines and the Blondies that were created by them (I think, I actually read this part on wikipedia). There’s a district where men with no official government identifiaction live and they’re called “mongrels” and are considered the lowest of the low.

In this society the Blondies keep certain humans as pets and furnitures (basically sex slaves and worker slaves). Our main character Riki is a mongrel and has a run in with a Blondie. NSFW things happen and Riki becomes the Blondie’s (Iason’s) pet for 3 years after which he is allowed to go back to the Slums for a year.

So let me begin with the original 1992 version. The animation and art are as you would expect from anime from this time. The Slums are mostly dark with vivid colours giving the neon and futuristic feel. Tanagura (the “capital”) is mainly shades of white to give the feeling of purity and perfectionism. The characters are wonky however. Actually good character designs basically stop at the 3-4 main characters with secondary characters basically being indistinguishable. 

Just like the colours, the music also plays a big role. The lack of background music can actually be distracting at times but the anime only uses tracks when it really wants to give another layer to the events happening on screen. Voice acting is decent but with more emotional scenes some of the performances were uhhh....unintentionally funny.

The pacing is off. The 1992 version consists of 2 almost 1 hour long episodes. In the first one we join in at the time when Riki is let back into the Slums by Iason and we follow him in the present. Then the second one is divided between flashbacks and advancing towards the ending. You’d think that Ai no Kusabi would be giving you steaming hot yaoi action but in reality there’s barely any NSFW content in the first episode; the majority of it is spent by fleshing out the world.

While quite a lot happens, the character development is lackluster. The anime feels more like just events happening after each other because the plot demands it and not because of a natural flow of the characters actions.

The 2012 version is an improvement in certain areas and a downgrade in others. The most glaring change is obviously the art and animation. It’s GORGEOUS. Not only is the animation fluid but the character designs of the secondary characters got a huge haul-over. They no longer look like clones of each other but like they have their own character. They went to extreme length with this; even the facial structure of characters were completely different.

Somewhat of a downgrade would be the music which is...fine. Just fine. The OST sounds like it came off of “free-copyright-music.net”. 

The 2012 version consists of 4 25 minute episodes. It is much slower than the original version and goes much more in depth on the story. It also doesn’t have an ending....yep. As it turns out this was supposed to be 12 OVAs long but they discontinued it due to financial reasons (seems like creating HQ sex scenes dries up money fast).

It is dissapointing as I was just getting into the groove of it by episode 4 and then just bamm, it’s over. Oh and one thing to mention; in one of the episodes there’s just a random conversation in which Riki tells his age and he says that he is 15...UMMM??? SO i know that the Blondies don’t really have ages or whatever but this made me immENSELY uncomfortable so I’m just choosing to think that Riki has been like 18-20 when the story starts, alright? Alright.

SOOOOO...I don’t really know what else to say. You like yaoi and this dom/sub slave whatever fetish thing you’ll probably enjoy this? It is unfinished...but the episodes made are still great quality and there’s always the manga? [6/10] (x) [6/10] (x)

Mahu Shoujo Site is godawful.

This “dark magical girls” trope is starting to get on my nerves. They usually have no point besides giving enjoyment to sick fucks who enjoy seeing little girls in horrible situations. Oh and also to the people who think “dark, depressing and gorey = d e ep”.

So, I obviously caught notice of this the first time I saw it as I’m always interested in magical girl stuff. And if you’ve read my previous reviews you know that this usually doesn’t go very well. Anyway, even from the summary I knew that this was going to be edgy but how much? Well I read the first review on MAL on it and lowkey scarred me into ignoring this anime. In the end, curiosity won out and I really wanted to see how much of a trainwreck MSS actually was.

I feel like a summary of the first episode would scare a lot of people away as it shows a lot of really cruel stuff that many people are sensitive to. Which would be: the apparent murder of a kitten to fuck with main character (not actually shown), the main character getting severely bullied and beaten at school by 3 of her classmates, her big brother tying her up and beating her (and punching her in the stomach) at home and at the very end some dude almost rapes her. Oh and the main character is like some 14yo little girl.

Whew. Ticks off all the “ew wtf” boxes, doesn’t it? Well rest assured the anime NEVER goes into this level of cruelty again. There are no animals in the anime after episode one. *Spoilers* happen to the bullies which also mostly takes them out of the picture after episode 2 and our main character is barely home or if she is then she is with friends which makes his brother unable to beat her. 

All this was just used to show how “unfortunate” she is so that she will be made into a magical girl as in MSS only girls who have had to deal with a lot of pain are eligible to become magical girls. OOOO edgy.

Then they have their weapons which are stupidly all named “sticks” even though they can be whatever (gun, phone, yoyo, panties...). And speaking of sticks, using them eats up the girls’ life forces...OOOO edgy. Have I mentioned that whenever they “transform” they HAVE to bleed from somewhere? Like eyes, nose, head...OOOOOOOOO edgy!!!!

We’ve a main cast of characters who get some personality but then we’re introduced to a second set of characters who literally have one personality trait each, plus their powers which makes me give approximately 0 fucks about whether they live or die.

The animation is quite poor, the OST is unremarkable and they seem to use the same 3 tracks in every episode (the OP and ED songs are bangers however) and the voice acting also leaves much to be desired but the VA’s did as much with the script as they could. 

The worst part is that the anime kinds of ends on a cliffhanger. Even from the opening I was expecting some grand battle but nope. There’s a plot twist which made me go “HMM” but that’s about it. So you sit through this shitfest and don’t even get a proper conclusion. Any enjoyment you could take away from this is seeing just how much bullshit they can put into these 12 episodes.

The characters you can grow to care for. Mostly because they’re SET UP to be pitied and babied, but my thought regarding them is “you didn’t deserve to be in this pile of garbage of an anime”. (x) [2/10]

Uprooted - Naomi Novik (What an adventure! I loved this book from beginning to end)

Deathless - Catherynne M. Valente (Ok, I can admit I didn’t understand a lot of what happened in this book because I didn’t understand a lot of the Russian literature references - BUT THAT DID NOT STOP ME FROM LOVING THIS BOOK! Holy smokes what a book - Instant Fave.)

The Bear and the Nightingale - Katherine Arden (’The Girl in the Tower’ is coming out in December and I am sooooo freaking excited!!!!)

Poison Study - Maria Snyder (I will try and pick up the other books in the series later on, but I enjoyed the first one and at times had a TOG feel)

The Night Mark and The Bourbon Thief - Tiffany Reisz (You can check my blog for my feels on these two books - quick and beautiful reads but prepare to be WRECKED by ‘The Bourbon Thief’ - I’m still recovering)

Blackwood and The Bad Guy - Celia Aaron (This author is magic! She writes erotica with plot so good! I buddy read ‘Blackwood’ with @propshophannah and we are both enthusiastic about it - it has a dark, mysterious feel and I could not get enough. My only complaint is that there is not more of it - I WANT MORE. So hot. SO HOT. ‘The Bad Guy’ was not AS good as ‘Blackwood’ but I still couldn’t put it down.)

The Arcana Chronicles - Kreslie Cole (I just really enjoyed them, not Earth shattering or anything but such an interesting plot with twists and turns and so many characters - I WAS SUCKED INTO THIS SERIES! And I need the next one pronto.

Labyrinth Lost - Cordia Zoraida (I didn’t finish this one but I intend to go back because it was really good but another book caught my attention more and put this one on Hiatus. If you haven’t already, pick up this book!)

Alex, Approximately and The Anatomical Shape of My Heart - Jenn Bennett (Both of these books were great, fun, quick reads that I LOVED the characters and locations)

Royally Screwed and Royally Matched - Emma Chase (Thanks @propshophannah for getting me into these two books of the same series - SO FUN. SO HOT. Ah I just loved them! You will have a huge smile on your face for most of these books. Looking forward to the next book ‘Royally Endowed’) also Hanna got me into the Off Campus series by Elle Kennedy and I breezed through them super hot super good.

Looking for sexy reads? PICK UP BOOKS BY CARA MCKENNA AND KYLIE SCOTT. I have read Curio and the Curio Vignettes, After Hours, Willing Victim and Brutal Game by Cara Mckenna and then the Stage Dive (4 books) and Dive Bar (still releasing, 2 so far) series by Kylie Scott and they are pretty much all panty disintegrating.

I’d also like to throw out there that anything by Morgan Matson has been a super enjoyable read for me. Starting with ‘Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour’ which sparked my Wanderlust but each of her books I read super fast because she has lovable characters, emotional conflicts, and great writing style. Check out also by her Second Chance Summer (Get your tissues ready though), Since You’ve Been Gone (Makes me feel young and adventurous), and The Unexpected Everything (So fun, Lovable).

I think I may have read these last year and previous years but I also loved loved loved ‘Vicious’ by V.E. Schwab, The Bungalow and The Violets of March will always be faves of mine by Sarah Jio, Pretty much ANYTHING by Libba Bray - The next installment of the Diviners series is coming out soon and I could not recommend that series more and her book Beauty Queens is so wacky but enjoyable. I will scream from the mountaintops about ‘The Night Circus’ by Erin Morgenstern for the rest of my life. It’s my thing. ‘The Bronze Horseman’ was epic (and the other two installments were OK and I read them to complete the story) but TBH was.....fantastic. The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud by Ben Sherwood  is an instafave. Also I think it goes without saying that ACOTAR and TOG novels are a automatic read that I always enjoy. aaaaaaaand TID,TMI, TDA, etc by CC are also instareads for me. I preorder/buy those babies immediately. The Wrath and the Dawn + The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh were so freaking beautiful that I had preordered and sucked down Flame in the Mist (and looking forward to the next installment). OH OH OH and The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah was so moving.

So I am probably missing a ton but this is a short list of books I will soapbox for.

Tokyo Ghoul

Only a few minutes before my 21st birthday I finished this series. Which means that I was an emotional wreck crying out ‘he knew!!’ while also being super excited to go out and buy my first drink; a Bloody Mary, approximately 17 minutes after officially being 21. Anyway, Tokyo Ghoul is so good. I loved it because it did not follow the path I expected it to, every event and conclusion ended up surprising me but in a good way! Without spoiling too much or going into a full review, the main character never became a ‘Mary Sue’ and the way it ended was not typical in the least. I have so many things to say but they all contain spoilers, anyway I’m glad I wasn’t deterred from the anime because one of my friends said he didn’t like the manga because of his assumption about the character. Dude, you were way off, I haven’t read the manga, but the anime is so different and so amazing. 5 out of 5 would recommend!

Blue Exorcist Movie

The movie has nothing to do with the plot of the anime at all, and takes place after the events in the series. Atleast I’m fairly certain it does? There’s an important (and spoiler-y) thing that happens at the end of the series, that is never addressed or acknowledged in the movie which I think is really weird….. Either way, the movie itself is simply a completely stand alone story from the series. And it was absolutely stunning! Sooooo much detail went into all of the backgrounds and items. On top of that its very well scripted, and the plot flowed incredibly well together without being convoluted, which is surprising since a number of movie sequels to tv series’s tend to go overboard by stuffing too much information into an hour and a half.

It was amazing. Its possible that someone could watch the movie without watching the single season anime, just because of how it was written. However you would not know the relationships or the back story of the main character, which helps to explain a lot of the terminology and setting. Especially the part about demons ect ect.

Either way, I LOVED this movie. I didn’t even know that there was a movie at all until just now. I’m going to re-watch it with a friend when she gets back into town and I am soooooo excited because I KNOW she will love it too. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. I RECOMMEND THIS SO HARD.

Haikyuu!!

I have boarded the sports anime train, and I don't think I'm ever getting off. This is the fifth sports anime I'm watching and I think it may be my favourite. It's funny too because I only recently started watching sports anime when I watched Free! last December.

This anime is fabulous! I know I say that a lot, but it is so true! Haikyuu!! is about Hinata who joins his high school Volley ball team. The rest of the show is about the developing relationships between the team, the development of their characters and skills, and their relationships between the teams they play against as they try to make it to the Nationals.

I love so much about this anime, every character is different, has their own reasons for playing, their own personalities, their own skills, and their own developmental journey. The characters are amazing!! On top of all that the animation is great, they animate the games incredibly well, and whenever someone does something that's particularly fast or strong they do a fabulous job of showing it through the art style and movements. Ah, I could watch this show for days, well, more days than I already have. (Click the image to view the gif, cause for some reason it won't automatically play...)

Speaking of the art style, It's different than whats common in anime, feeling a little more like a manga, but that's what makes it so great. The style allows them to make fabulous faces/expressions and movements. and Oh man the faces are great, I LOVE an anime that's able to use such a variety of expressions on so many different characters. Look at these faces!

Its such a feel good anime, its so light-hearted, and bright, and funny, and intense! There are only two season out right now, but the third season is to air this fall! I'm so excited!! so, So, SO excited!!! AAAHHHHHH~

This is a must watch. It doesn't matter what genre of anime you like, everyone should give this one a chance.

So the first thing i need to mention is that this show is first and foremost a slcie of life that happens to include a lot of mystery. Not a mystery that happens to be a slice of life. I originally thought it was the latter which was why I was disappointed that it didn't end the series with a mystery arc, but instead the way a slice of life would.When you acknowledge the show for what it really is, a natural slice of life, it is amazing. For numerous reasons.

First the artwork is so incredibly detailed and beautiful. Second the visuals are distinctly different for each thing ti tries to convey, and completely succeeds in doing so. The audio is amazing, the music is beautiful, the animation is so smooth and they even animate things that aren't necessary to the plot but are animated anyway to make it all feel so REAL. Not to mention the episodes and mysteries are so well written!

look at the incredible amount of detail they put into EVERY SINGLE SCENE.

even when the background is blurred even people who we never learn about or see again have details in their clothes, faces, and expressions. I checked, we NEVER see these people below actually interact with the main OR minor cast.

I almost forgot, this show is about Houtarou a high schooler that sees the world in 'gray'and whose motto is "If I don't have to do it, I won't. If I have to do it, I'll make it quick." Convinced by his already graduated sister, he joins the classics club which was endangered to be disbanded because there were no more members. He meets a girl named Eru who also joins the club and discovers that he has a knack for solving mysteries. That is, only when Eru earnestly goes to him and yearns for him to solve the mystery because her curiosity cannot be contained. From there they quickly discover that the classics club has a past shrouded in mystery.

Its incredibly well done, I love slow the pacing myself, because it fits the flow and nature of the anime. However I do have a number of issues with it myself (some reveal content spoilers so I won't state those here).  I admit that the way they ordered large mystery arch and single episode mysteries was not handled well at the very end. Don't get me wrong the ending fit the characters incredibly well and was very good and realistic, however considering the quality of the larger mysteries that were prevalent through the rest of the anime, I feel that they should have ended the series with a multi-episode arc and then one final single episode arc, rather than many single episode arcs strung together.  The anime was an adaptation of a light novel, which covered 4 out of the 5 published novels. I've taken a look at the titles of the chapters and it seems that the 5th book is quite the elaborate story. One I would have liked to have seen in the anime, though would clearly have gone over the 22 episodes the anime ended at. Perhaps since this write up for the episode is already so long, I will create a post just about this anime. It definitely deserves more talking about!

Anyway, I do recommend it to veteran-ed anime watchers. It has a wonderful pace that does not push by quickly, great character development and insight, and fascinating mysteries and dialogue regarding such. Its perfect for anyone who loves natural slice of life. Those who enjoy mysteries would also enjoy this, as long as they understand that it is mostly a slice of life, and thus will follow the format of slice of life and not the format of a mystery anime. Its a stunning anime.

Natsume's Book of Friends

This is an incredibly adorable show. Its heartwarming and has a 'feel good' movie feel to it. If anything taking into account the art style and how good it makes you feel it reminds me a lot of Fruits Basket. Don't get me wrong, its nothing like Fruits Basket in terms of story, but its got the same 'feel'.... if that makes sense.

Anyway, the premise is that Natsume is the only one able to see yokai (Japanese monsters/spirits/gods). After moving into a new town with some distant relatives, Natsume finds out that is deceased grandmother could also see yokai and made quite the reputation among them. She would take the names of local yokai and put it into a book called the book of friends, with their names she could control the yokai. Now yokai are coming after Natsume either to ask him to return their names or to take the book of friends for themselves.

The majority of the show is about Natsume steadily coming to understand both humans and yokai more clearly than he has before. Making friends, learning about the lives of others, learning about his grandmother, and finding out what it really means to be apart of a family and not be ostracized by others because of his ability.

This show is wonderful, its not as gripping or super emotion/action driven as some other shows are, but its very well done. The character are great, the stories are so heartwarming, and it breaks a number of the stereotypical cliches that are often found with anime about a character who can see something that others cannot. An example that I particularly love is how other characters who come into the mix who are also able to see yokai are not automatically 'evil' or an antagonist. So rather than causing mroe trouble for Natsume from the 'get go' they are actually there to help develop him into a better character. Which I love~ Any actual antagonist that shows up are antagonists for a real reason, rather than just for the purpose of having one.

If your into exorcism anime or anime that focuses on traditional Japanese monsters/spirits/gods you will love this one. It is slower paced and focuses more on story than action so keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that there are only 4 season out right now as of this post. Season 5 will be coming out with this falls simulcasts and I'm super excited for it

Because it's true that when you're a fanfic writer, your first motivation to write at night after your day at work/school is because you think about the people who are going to read what you write. Sci-fi shenanigans!

Hello ladies, gents, and fellow rpers. After having a writing blast and seeing how I’ve got room for some more partners I’ve decided to come back in search of some partners who are interested in what I’m looking for.I’ve got a good ten or so odd years of rping experience under my belt but any potential partners do not necessarily have to have the same experience, they simply need to fit under these three things: -third person only with correct spelling, grammar and punctuation. - at least one small (no less than seven lines) paragraph per post as well as being willing to write more if the situation calls for it. Please do not contact me intending to give me only small paragraphs with each response as the above is simply the bare minimum I’ll accept if there’s not much going on in the rp that warrants a full paragraph. -no one liners, one worders, script talk, poorly written sentences or just laziness in general. This isn’t terribly much to ask for as picky as it sounds. An important thing I shall mention is that NSFW (i don’t fade to black nor do I care when the smut happens. Just please don’t leave me once the smut has happened like lots of people seem to unfortunately do) and dark themes are a thing that occur in all my rp’s so I require you to at least be eighteen before you reach out to me. I will not accept anyone younger than 18 since I myself am in my early twenties. Underaged characters are also a no go as well. Please know that I’m in the eastern Australian time zone but almost any time zone Is compatible for me as I am awake at very odd hours. Another important thing I shall add is that you must be able to post at least once or more a day and if I don’t get any response after two weeks then I shall simply move on (only exception is if you notify me beforehand as to why you may not be able to post for a while. I’m not that vicious). I only rp as male characters, as it’s simply my preference, but I will do either MxM or MxF pairings. I will not double and I do not play multiple characters. I don’t do sub/dom dynamics when it comes to any aspect of the relationship. My characters are also non human (they’re aliens since this is a sci-fi rp after all) but what species your character is doesn’t matter to me at all as long as it’s not some god modded Mary Sue. Please remember that alien simply means a creature not from earth. Aliens can have fur, scales, feathers, etc, depending on where they come from. An alien with fur or scalies is not a furry or a scalie and please do not refer to them as such as it’s rude to label someone’s character as something they’re not. I will not write with someone who will insist that the theory of chimpanzees and humans unable to crossbreed should apply to hybrid characters regardless of whether they’re alien/alien or human/alien. This is fiction, not reality. Please also do not control my characters or dictate their actions. My characters are also premade and only have descriptions, I don’t do face claims or pics. I also do not care if you make a character up on the spot. Please remember that this is a sci-fi rp and that I will not accept requests to do fandoms or any genre that doesn’t fit within the category of sci-fi.i will not accept a character that has no place in a sci-fi rp either like a dragon,harpy,demon, elf or some other fantasy creature. I do have a few ideas and I’ve listed them down below: Space criminals and the law: *humans and aliens have been living amongst each other side by side ever since humanity dared to venture beyond the Milky Way and made first contact with aliens. With the solar system no longer being man’s only playground other planets were quickly colonised under the new alliance between extraterrestrials and Homo sapiens. Whether you were an alien, human or a hybrid did not matter in the known galaxies. All that mattered was who you were. Not everyone took to the integration very well (there were numerous protests on both sides) but most people were willing to share in the hopes of peace. Not everyone had good intentions though……* Trouble in the alien kingdom: *the planet of (insert generic planet name here) was one of prosperity, hardship and wealth. The kingdom of (insert generic kingdom name here) was ruled by a king and a queen whose heir was betrothed to a rival planet in the hopes that a political marriage would prevent another war from happening. Only problem was that no one could see the rival planets true plans….all but one. Unfortunately no ones going to listen to a deranged commoner who probably may not even be telling the truth. What’s one to do when no one will listen?* Exile: *The wind howled as thunder crashed and shrieked all around the abandoned cargo ship. Rain pelted the metal hull, turning the ground into a cold, treacherously slippery and muddy shallow river. The ship itself had crashed into the planet countless centuries ago and was slowly being reclaimed by the environment. Plants grew from cracks in the floor as moss and vines decorated the walls. A figure sat miserably hunched in what was once the cockpit of the ship, their only shelter from the raging elements outside but not from the storm that raged inside of them. The figure leapt to their feet as the sounds of footsteps in the mud drew closer and they held their breath. Who would dare to venture out here on such a miserable night?* War of the worlds: *humans and aliens were never meant to coexist peacefully with one another. There was too much fear, Too much misinformation and too much bias on both sides for such a thing to have ever been successful. It was the humans fault that the war had started. They were the ones who’d shot down the alien ship that had been packed with specially chosen diplomats that represented each alien race known to the galaxies they dwelled in that had been on their way to earth to negotiate a truce and a plan for peace. They hadn’t even hesitated to shoot the ship full of aliens yet they’d been surprised when war had been declared on the spot. Two races. Two worlds so different yet the same fighting one another for what was either a mistake or intentional murder.* Rehab: *The UGWP alliance (unite the galaxies for the protection of all worlds and for peace alliance) portrayed themselves as calm, charismatic and kind men and women who held only the thoughts of a life together with all species living happily together. They advertised campaigns for inter species jobs, provided information to the public about human/alien interactions and encouraged diversity amongst planets. Their rehabilitation program for troublesome fellows was considered to be a god send to try and cut down on the amount of space related crimes. No one ever questioned what went on beyond the closed doors to the facility, if they did, the UGWP would have their darkest secrets revealed. Something they strove to keep under wraps. When the arrival of a particularly wild prisoner occurs, the threat of their first failure and first escaped prisoner is lurking around the corner.* (Important point of notice: in this rp idea I’d be playing said prisoner, I don’t mind if you choose to be one as well.) Academy days: *the galaxy alliance and military defence force academy was one of the most respected training academies in the known galaxies. Men, women, aliens, humans and all of those who were in between went there to study, train and, one day if they passed the mentally, emotionally and physically gruelling years of tests, fly and be put in their own squadron. There were approximately six spots to fill on any team and the cadet who suited that spot the most would be given the title of pilot, squad leader, second in command, engineer, gunner and navigator. Each team was similar but unique in what they did. Not everyone gets along though and rivalries grow high during that delicate time between graduating and being put on a team. What happens when the top student and the lonesome outcast with a temper clashes?* Captured: *Space criminals have been around ever since advanced technology allowed others to travel and live in space as if they were living anywhere else. They’re often cunning, tricky to catch and more often than not are clever at disguising themselves whenever those wanted posters come up. It takes skill to be on the wrong side of space law and true talent to get away with it. The galaxy's current most wanted man has finally been captured by an alliance captain and his crew. Will he beg for mercy? Will he be given a trial before being thrown into a cell to rot or will he be given a chance to turn himself around with some hard labour?* (Important point of notice: I’ll be playing the criminal for this one. You will be the alliance captain) Enslaved: *imagine living the life of one of the most successful people on the run that could exist. Galaxies trembled at your name. You and your crew swam in wealth and the going was good. Mutiny, sadly and sometimes not sadly, exists on its own accord. One man reflected on this as he was forced to his feet. A collar attached to a chain and electromagnetic handcuffs prevented his escape as he stood for all those who cared to glance as they walked by in the market to see. No one wants to have their only life’s purpose to be to serve another......only sometimes people don’t get that choice.* (Important point of notice: I’ll be playing the slave/servant. You’ll be the master/mistress.) Sooooo..... about those pairings. What is in Bold is what I’m going to play if we choose the scenario: 1: enemies to lovers or rivals. 2: **captured criminal** x prison guard or other prisoner. 3: two soldiers from seperate sides falling in love. 4: **academies bad boy** x top student 5: **low ranking ship crew member/second in command/captured space criminal** x captain. 6: **commoner/rogue/street rat** x prince/princess. 7: **slave/servant** x master/mistress. 8: army superior x **lower ranking soldier**. PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH ME IF: 1: YOU GHOST AT THE DROP OF A HAT. 2: YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO PUT EFFORT IN TO MEET MY REQUIREMENTS. 3: IF YOU DONT ACTUALLY LIKE SCI-FI OR THE THINGS THAT MAKE SCI-FI SCI-Fi..... yes as ridiculous as it sounds I’ve had people approaching me that dislike sci-fi and want to rp an entirely different thing with me. Please do not be one of those people. 4: DO NOT EVEN MESSAGE ME IF YOU’RE NOT EVEN GOING TO ANSWER BACK ONCE CONTACTS HAVE BEEN EXCHANGED! I shouldn’t even have to say this. please, do not keep me waiting for days to just get a response back. Take your stick of truth and other ideas involving it elsewhere and do not constantly try to find ways to say my characters would somehow in some way be interested in shoving a camera up your characters backside and looking up there to “figure out battle tactics”. If I turn down An idea of any sort do not lie to me that you’re suddenly tired or just straight up block me, have the decency to say that you will look elsewhere if none of the ideas above actually interest you. I’m open to discussing and potentially mixing these ideas up till we get something that we both like. If you want to learn more about a certain idea tell me the name and I shall expand on it.
