a couple unrelated-ish thoughts about this song.

first, i love the connection to adam and eve: jonathan and mina being made for each other. god created eve for adam so that he wouldn't be lonely. it's not good for people to be lonely. and i love that theme in jonmina. they share everything with each other, they know each other so well, they were built to be together.

next, i like the imagery of jonathan waking up to find mina from the first verse. it's so lovely. and i like the idea of him being in this brain fog, not really sure what's going on, mostly just lost in his own mind ... and suddenly, there's mina, shining through like the sun, waking him up.

kinda like the first verse: bones of my bones and flesh of my flesh. wowzers. again i love how much they are together. there's another verse in genesis, i think it's around the creation story? it says that a man will leave his family, and woman will leave hers, and they will become one body, basically. i really love that for jonathan and mina especially tho cause their families are already gone.

i also really liked some of the lines at the end! I actually planned to draw your Sonicsona at first. And then I realized I deadass couldn't even draw Base Sonic. Then I thought I should draw a mole. I realized I also couldn't draw a mole. I thought I should just go for the easiest shit and draw ToFu. I realized I could not draw either one of them, too.

Because I cannot draw, I cheat! I mean I turn things into shapes (chiefly triangles, though not all of them) and then color them and hope that something shows up. This is me using this scientific /+ philosophical concept called Emergence.

No, I didn't just say THAT to sound like I have a technique of any kind, trust. It's so totally a technique—my very productive ass told me.

I remember you saying your favorite color is something like pink, blue, and stuff? It was from that tag game from last year. Hence, I decided I should create a context so I could draw an obscene amount of pink and blue.

If I'm being honest, it took me less than a millisecond to come up with the exact context—Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom is abundantly blue.

And since I always wanted to sneak ToFu in, I thought I would make a purplish-pink dusk. And then I will sneak those stargazing two in.

Come on. Everyone knows those ToFu panels. Even someone like me, who had not seen that part of the manga yet, knows.

HOWEVER! Fushi's limited-ass color presented a big problem for my cheat-drawing. How many combinations of "white" can you even make before you zoom out and see... nothing?! So I basically sabotaged them. That's what you get for being difficult, you mopey, neck-crick-possessing, fragile-enough-to-be-blown-by-the-wind cutie doofus.

I made up the color of their pants. I didn't even refer to their Nameless Boy drip when I decided on the color. I assed that part.

Yes. I admit I put a shit ton of effort into coloring Zelda. This version of Zelda is my kin, you know. Anyway, I like the way her, uh, shirt turned out.

I also like how the Master Sword turned out, but there was so much blue I ended up requiring outlines to distinguish it from Link's shirt and the sky. Told ya I have no technique or skill. I cheat through and through

I was too lazy to draw those sky islands. Besides, the ToTK side is already saturated with details.

What the fuck issa "proportion?" Everyone's head is an orange. The difference, Nova, is whether it's a Mandarin Orange or an Orange.

I don't know if I overdid Dinraal's draconic mane. It looks like she's wearing a wig. At least she is different from how she initially looked—a red tapeworm outfitted with chicken legs.

I admit I put more effort than any Past Me would have into Dinraal because a certain mutual is very, ah, particular about dragons.

Drawing two of your favorite ships for their show of devotion was a completely deliberative choice on my end. Did you also realize that both Link and Fushi had a short, small, low ponytail and that both Zelda and Tonari had similar hair? I believe it's due to me hitting my drawing skill limitation.

There is actually an Easter Egg of some sort in this picture. It's not the ugly doodle thing, no. That thing is me. I'm not an Easter Egg; I'm a ghost.

The blues and the pinks, and the stars on the ToFu side!!! I just noticed them and they’re everything to me!!!! Zelda being your kin is so good to know hehe, I’ve always been drawn to all versions of Link myself! I think we’ve been perfectly set up to “play dolls” with these characters in the future, so to speak! Aaaahh they can’t have been easy to draw, there’s a reason I almost never dabble in drawing those two and their intricate outfits, but you make it look effortless!!! Zelda’s shirt turned out amazing, and I’m stuck looking at her little triangle braids!!!! so to answer your questions, I’ve never had him drawn before, but I might in the near future since I REALLY love him ♥️ I’ll show you if I do!! And he used to have some jealousy, mainly as a kid being surrounded by other flying moon moths. but not as much anymore, sometimes when he sees a chance to get involved in something, but can reach it from ground level. He got his nickname from the fact that he has brown fur with dark stripes that has been so fascinating that it has caused many to find him attractive (like a blonde bombshell. Basically it’s a term for someone who is really gorgeous) I’m curious about Arya!! Was she born a demon? You said she had a human form, was she a human that transformed into a demon?! And if so, why is she a moth? ARE HER SIBLINGS MOTHS?! What are they like?!

Ohh, I see! Sorry, I genuinely didn't know what the term Bomshell meant! I always thought a bombshell was just the outer layer of a missile or something! But thank you for explaining! And please do have them drawn! I'd love to see them in all their glory :D It makes sense that he'd be jealous, you can do so many more shenanigans when you can fly, but he can be a menace without being airborn as well! You said that he specialized in dark magic, what kind of magic does he do in particular? Were they different as a child? Like, were they more shy and became more mischievous as a result since their family gave them up? :o Also, you mentioned he's tall, just how tall is he? Because Arya, in her human form, is also pretty tall for a "woman"! In her demon form she's roughly two and a half meters tall! And yes, Arya was born a demon! She was born to a royal family who rules over some parts of hell and has 12 siblings! She's the oldest out of all of them, however! Her parents were moth demons, so she took after them! Arya really does love her family, she has a good relationship with them, she's just a bastard by choice! And yes, her siblings are also moths, though they're much younger than her! Arya is roughly 236 years old, even if she is still very young! But then again, time works differently in Hell, so in our world she'd be maybe around 24 years old! So her siblings are anywhere between 30 and 210 years old! It's a bit difficult to tell you what all of them are like since there's so many of them and since there's such an age discrepancy, but generally speaking, they're not too bad! They're not downright cruel as the children of rulers, but they do use their privileges from time to time if they can! However, they wouldn't go out of their way to ask their parents to incarcerate someone just because they got the last piece of candy! The younger ones act more childish and immature than the older ones, but they normally do behave! Arya often takes care of her siblings when she can, but she's also out and about more often than not, going on adventures and seeing the world!

can you describe matthias and theo night routines? and their sleep schedule

Theo doesn’t get a lot of sleep since he’s either out partying into the long stretches of the night or up studying until the words begin to blur on the page. I’d say he normally falls asleep around 3AM-4AM and doesn’t wake back up until 7AM. Four-ish hours is pretty average for how much sleep he gets a night… maybe less at times if he’s more stressed than usual. I should add that he does sleep more when he’s staying over at Matthias’s or vice versa, but generally he tries his best not to let Matthias distract him from studying before bed… which only ever works out about a quarter of the time. Matthias can be... very persuasive.

In the case of Matthias, well… he’s a chronic insomniac whose insomnia is exacerbated by hallucinations and nightmares. Unsurprisingly, his sleep schedule is terribly inconsistent, but if he does sleep then I think he normally manages it sometime around noon and will stay asleep for about an hour or two. It’s actually very rare that he falls asleep during the night—especially after Theo begins to sleep over, as Matthias prefers to read and watch over him at that time instead. Theo has fits in his sleep (from nightmares that he never remembers…) and Matthias gently calms him so he doesn’t wake up.

The only time they fall asleep at around the same time is when they’ve been at it for a while and both need a break. Matthias doesn’t stay asleep for long, though… maybe an hour at most. He does sleep easier around Theo, but that’s mostly just when Theo is awake. I think Matthias finds a lot of comfort in knowing Theo is there watching over him. He went through a lot at the reformation school and there were many times within those years where sleep would be abruptly interrupted and then he’d be back on the killing floor, so to speak, so having someone there to watch over him… I think it really helps. Then, on the other hand, Theo sleeps pretty deeply after they’ve been having sex. There’s never a time he feels more cared for and adored than when Matthias is making love to him, so it's... a relaxing experience. It puts Theo's mind at ease and I think it’s probably when Theo feels the safest. So he'll sleep for a long while after, feeling cradled in Matthias's presence, his anxiety finally snuffed out.

As for their actual night routines… hm. They’re very different, especially before and after the start of Echthroi. 

Theo’s night routine stays pretty much the same throughout the story. He’s not one for self-care, like, at all. Because of that, he doesn’t necessarily have a routine… Theo’s honestly only really meticulous in his studies and everything else suffers for it. However, Theo physically cannot fall asleep unless he’s checked the locks on the windows and doors and closed all of the blinds and curtains. That’s the one routine of his he’s always sure to follow through on, even when he’s intoxicated or sleep deprived.

Otherwise, what else he does as part of his “routine” is up in the air. Sometimes he showers before bed, other times he showers after waking up. Sometimes he combs through his hair all nicely and other times he just impatiently rips his fingers through his hair and shrugs. Sometimes he forgets to brush his teeth, other times he forgets that he’s already brushed his teeth and ends up doing it again. He’s a bit of a mess. If he’s actually aware/awake enough to put himself to bed, then he’ll messily wipe any makeup off his face post-clubbing and/or he’ll shower post-hook up (if it’s the pre-Matthias part of Echthroi). If he’s tired from studying he’ll put all of his materials away and then flop down on his bed. If he has to see his parents in the morning then he’ll wind up in the bathroom for too long, brushing his teeth until his gums bleed. If we’re talking about Theo in the post-meeting Matthias part of the story then he might take a cold shower to try and get Matthias out of his head for a little bit, or he’ll find himself laying in bed staring warily at his phone. Hm… and in general Theo will hum lullabies to himself so he can fall asleep easier… it’s a childhood habit.

By nature of Matthias’s insomnia, Matthias doesn’t exactly find himself preparing for bed during the night like most people. He does, however, still run through his personal care routine at around 8pm. He showers, brushes, flosses, cleanses and hydrates, primps and preens, and then he’ll usually find himself entertaining guests or a partner for the night.

For Matthias pre-meeting Theo, he’s often not alone after dark as he has a string of men with whom he takes to his bed or a list of faceless people to call on whenever he wants to be surrounded by bodies and chatter. There are still quiet nights where he’s by himself or just with Imani, but they’re relatively few and far between. For Matthias post-meeting Theo… woof. He did sleep around here and there still, but I think he gave it up pretty early on… his mind was always swimming with thoughts of Theo and he couldn’t focus on nor did he find himself interested in the men he’d have under him. So after meeting Theo his usual night circuit changes and he often finds himself staying home and reading with some wine and the occasional glance at his phone, waiting for a response. Matthias does a lot of waiting when it comes to Theo.

If they're together at night (when they’re dating), then Matthias will usually make dinner for Theo. He likes feeding him (by hand, even, though Theo often protests). Normally Theo will have a few textbooks with him that he can study from while he waits for dinner and he always winds up going "give me a minute" when the food is finally done. They'll enjoy each other's company just fine at home or they'll go out for a drive or a walk. Theo often winds up getting roped into following along with Matthias's night routine and will poke fun at how fussy Matthias can be as Matthias does skincare beside him in the bathroom. Theo tries to get away with studying again later in the night, but Matthias likes to distract him as he’s personally offended whenever Theo whips out his textbooks past, like, 11PM. In general, they'll wind up having sex at some point, or multiple points, and then they'll shower together. After they towel off and Matthias dries Theo's hair, Matthias will most likely end up reading to Theo until Theo falls asleep. If Theo wakes up during the night, Matthias simply kisses him back to sleep.

It was quite frustrating to find out the real motivation under all that... mess was something so pathetic, but at the same time this is what happens when people make engagement with media and fandoms a moral, political act. Not necessarily a problem, after all, I was the one who concluded that the way a fan judges fictional characters and other fans will very well reveal how cruel they are to real people who do something bad, or how much they will forgive based on personal sympathies. And my mad ravings about caring about female characters! I think the problem comes when a fan is so insecure that they have nothing else besides this defence of ideals through fandomry. If your only way to assert yourself is to be a good guy punishing the bad guys, and that mad raving loredigger discovers there is NO bad guy, what is left of you?

This is why it is crucial to have passion for nurturing rather than for undermining! I think if you speak like this, you've found this truth too? This is true that I don't know you very much (mutual-in-law thing), but to be honest.. you didn't poison my fandom experience at all? I tend to never be aware about discourse until someone basically calls me for help fhdhgsdgdfs Can't scout the fandom tag regularly!

But not only it actually was a quite long ago I saw a "negative" post from you, but also I've seen through the posts that my friends liked or reblogged from you that you've actually became very eager person to defend people's passion and interests! I think the post that particularly got stuck with me was when you resented seeing someone's light die after some Redditor asshole "well aktualy"'d a thing they were excited about creating (not exact wording but maybe you remember too)? Like... you are fine, man. At that point I realised that you were a good fan and in the end valued people's creativity and passion over personal preferences. Rue, this is the sweetest thing and I'm sorry it's taken a while to reply to this because I kept coming back to this and grinning like an idiot until my cheeks hurt? Rorschach and Khare's relationship is by far one of my all-time favourite experiences, not just on this one thing but roleplaying in general.

Their connection is one of those things I never saw coming but holy crap, it's so good, the way their bond has grown so much and whenever I'm having a bad day, I just think back to one of their many interactions and start smiling like a loon all over again. It goes without saying your Rorschach is absolutely-fucking-phenomenal - all your muses are, but your writing in particular pulled Watchmen from the deepest recesses of 2009 and dragged it right back into the forefront again. Dan, Liz and Adrian are all beautifully written but I can't deny these two are something deeply special to me. Guilty as charged, your honor. ♥ Your Rorschach being gay (which I adore about him) is so brilliantly portrayed and reasoned, so it's all the more meaningful that, in the best case scenario, he'd actually be okay with platonically marrying Khare? I don't think she'd mind either; sure he's no Bruce Wayne, but that doesn't matter to her because she adores him and he really is the closest friend she's got, both in Gotham and probably in her life which was nothing special until, you know, the whole getting-kidnapped-and-turned-into-an-experimental-guinea-pig type thing. He's been good to her though, and even though not a lot of people like him very much, he's important to her, so even though it's not likely there's a world where this would actually happen given the issues™ our two have, just the thought that he'd willingly do this for her says a lot considering his attitude about women. She gets a green card, he gets a beard so nobody looks at them too closely and Rorschach can continue contending with his feelings and accept his being gay. It's a win/win situation if, you know, Rorschach didn't have a crippling deathwish and Khare wasn't basically rotting from the inside out. Still, it's a very sweet thing to think about and these two being able to heal from their pasts and come out as better people for it.

I'm so sorry if you get tired of answering asks about Pompey and Crassus BUT your response to the anon asking if Crassus let Pompey get away with things really got me thinking! Specifically about the way that Plutarch (I think?) says that Crassus didn't hold ill-will against Pompey for "stealing" his triumph. And how it feels like Crassus just kind of decided to shrug it off and instead asked Pompey for help for the consulship elections. Crassus seems so ruthless and direct while on the field, and I have so many questions about how he and Pompey worked together in Spoletium which will never be answered 😭 But then when it comes to politics I really can't see the pattern!

oh, I love talking about Crassus (and Pompey too, by extension), literally I can't stop. you can ask several people. I'll be talking about one thing, and all of a sudden: Crassus has entered the conversation. it's terrible, I can't stop. mostly, it takes me a thousand years to articulate my thoughts in any kind of way that makes sense.

I actually think that there are two times that Crassus subtextually calls Pompey a bitch, and the triumph incident is one of them!

specifically in that Crassus's comment about it:

Crassus, for all his self-approval, did not venture to ask for the major triumph, and it was thought ignoble and mean in him to celebrate even the minor triumph on foot, called the ovation, for a servile war.

Crassus is also not the first person to hold this sentiment.

I think it's important to remember that for Rome as a whole, the Third Servile War was terrifying because of the scale of the threat it posed to how an imperial wheelhouse running on a slave economy functions, but also because it's really fucking embarrassing for Rome's identity.

Crassus is also not the first person who commands the leading role against Spartacus. Spartacus goes through two other commanders before Rome asks Crassus to enter the scene. Crassus specifically is a private citizen when he is asked to step into this role: up until now, Rome's own praetors and consuls have failed to rise to the occasion.

this is a deeply humiliating moment for the Roman reputation and identity. Pompey taking credit for Crassus' victory is an expected power grab, but it's also kind of cringe that he did it. Crassus was doing Roman's Duty To The State (or, if you like a spicier take on it, may have pulled strings for it. after all, you can't consider a man rich unless he can fund his own army. and the army Crassus brought with him for this was is own)

and so taking credit for that is like. man. this was NOT a "glorious war" that was fought. (Lucullus cites this as a blemish on Pompey's character during his vulture speech, it's very fun!)

so while Crassus may have realized that writing back to Rome and requesting back up was a mistake because whoever showed up would have the world's easiest time taking credit and accepted that it would happen, I do think that he took alternative measures to even the playing field in a 'okay sure, have your triumph, but don't think you're going to have it all,' kind of way because he also does this

which does not strike me as the behavior of someone who is letting Pompey just run away with it without any kind of pushback.

and now to throw out literally everything I just said about the Triumph Incident, B.A. Marshall (whose article I've cited several times already in this) has an incredibly compelling case to make that there wasn't really as much conflict between the two over this as ancient narratives might indicate (which. seems to be a recurring theme with them)

I will stick to my narrative speculation that some of their respective peers probably thought it was at least embarrassing behavior on Pompey's part, because Lucullus has a lot of vitriol to direct at Pompey, and he does cite this incident as something negative to Pompey's overall character) someone who steals credit and glory from other people). so. hm. I think the assumed personal and periodically biting rivalry (in addition to the usual political rivalry) between the two is extremely fun, but so is. this. thoughts! much to think about.

I'm in love with the Shades of Red au for a few reasons, but especially because like. If/when Shadow finds out that They Know, he's conflicted. Because he's grown to like the other Links (as much as he hates to admit it). But also, I am Looking directly at the possibility of the other Links genuinely asking him to stick with them, and Shadow being scared of actually trusting them. He thinks there's an ulterior motive, that maybe they figured his plan out and instead want to turn on him when he least expects it. Or maybe worse, he fears that they only want him around now because they pity him.

And of course his face is visibly freaked out as he's processing all of these possibilities, so the others are concerned and trying to reassure him. And their looks of concern are read by Shadow as pity. And he feels so incredibly stupid for thinking they were above doing that to him-- being nice to him because they felt sorry for him. It's that balancing act of wanting to trust, but also fearing betrayal because of how different their views were before they came together. He's left wondering how much has changed and how much has stayed the same.

Sorry if this is a little incomprehensive- I just think there's a lot of stuff to think about with this au and it's awesome! :3

First of all I'm so sorry it took me ages to respond to this- and secondly YES to all of this!

LOVE the idea of the four Links each realising pretty early on that it's Shadow who is in disguise and deciding between themselves not to say anything. Because at first it might be that Vio is able to convince Blue and Green "listen, Shadow has Red's sword- having him around could be useful- let's just give this a while before we let him know that we're onto him..." but then one by one they each come to the realisation that they actually really like having Shadow around?? And they end up deliberately ignoring when Shadow slips up pretending to be Red (using "y'all", forgetting that having very stretchy limbs isn't typical Hylian behaviour etc), because they want to keep him around as long as possible. Because they enjoy spending time with him!!!

I like to think that Shadow is mostly oblivious to this and just thinks he is doing a really good job of pretending to be Red, but once the four end up actually admitting they know it's him (or accidentally slipping up and calling him "Shadow" by mistake!), I think this could cause a lot of conflicting emotions for Shadow? Because on one hand how dare they lead him on and make fun of him behind his back and trick him into pretending to be Red while all along they knew it was really him?! But also why are they so keen to let him stay? Why don't they insist he returns Red's sword immediately? Why don't they laugh at him for being tricked, but instead invite him to join their side?! Is it just that they want to use him for his knowledge- as a weapon against Vaati- or can he trust them when they try to explain that he's one of them now and doesn't have to pretend to be someone he's not?

The first thing I did was look at how other people write them too and that definitely helped a lot. It gave me the idea to write stuff like "a digital painting" or "a black and white line drawing" at the start of them, bc I would never have thought to do that myself?? I would have just started with like "character A holding an ice cream" or something lmao. But I think it's really useful to describe what the image actually looks like, as well as the contents of it!

I usually try to keep them on the shorter side. I noticed other people tend to either always write concise ones or super long and detailed ones, and it seems to just be up to personal preference?? But I like it when I can keep them between a few sentences to a small paragraph, because I know most people only spend a few seconds looking at individual posts and I want to keep it easy for people to navigate around my blog without being held up by a super long description. And I know I have a tendency to ramble on for too long if given the opportunity, so I need to hold myself in check lmao.

When I was first considering whether it would be worthwhile adding image ids I made a post about it, and someone (I accidentally deleted this post and can't remember who it was unfortunately 😭 but thank you so much to this person!) replied to it explaining that they aren't only used by blind people or people using screen readers, but sometimes by people who just have bad eyesight and can see some or even most of the image, but might have trouble making out the details.

I'd never considered that before for some reason, despite having pretty bad eyesight myself jsdfggh. But I try to keep that in mind (sometimes I'll just think of what I'd be able to see if my glasses were off, for example) and it often helps me decide what is worth mentioning.

One last useful tip I picked up somewhere along the way is to always type out any writing that's in the drawing, either in speech bubbles or stuff like words on a character's t-shirt or shop sign in the bg, bc that can help for people with dyslexia and things like that too!

it's not technically spoilers since the last chapter (sunshine ch6) but i guess minor spoilers for anyone who hasn't gotten that far yet? like literally the smallest of spoilers but: it's bc i can't just go halfway with anything and since i was going to be mentioning a salt marsh i had to do salt marsh research. this ended up with me watching this very charming video of this guy being informative about salt marshes, with my favorite part being a tie between him eating pickleweed even after explicitly saying he hates it (7:47) and him casually tossing a blue crab back into the water (19:50).

anyway all this to say i mostly ended up researching/learning about blue crabs incidentally lol.

You've came to the right person, Antti has been my favorite artist literally since the beginning of his career almost 20 years ago.

Yes, sadly it's true. He's been doing music for nearly 20 years (with a few breaks here and there) and he's now at a point in his life where he wants to do something else. He's 39 years old, even though you'd never believe it looking at him, man's in tip top shape.

He has studied to become a therapist and graduated last year. He also has the qualifications to be a yoga instructor and a physical exercise counselor (idk if that's the correct translation but close enough).

He is a partner in a start up business in the wellness sector, where he, by my understanding, will be offering therapist services.

Antti is doing his very last show later this summer at one of Finland's biggest festivals, and then it's over. I'm hoping that he'll do a comeback in a few years, but it's understandable if he doesn't.

I got to see him on his last tour a couple of weeks ago. During the gig I realized that I was on his very first show he ever did in my city when I was like 14 years old, and now 19 years later on the last one. Probably goes without saying but I sobbed several times during that night 🥹

Also, unless he drops a new song suddenly, the "Auto jää" song he did with Jere will be the last song he's ever released 🥹
