I have this silly idea in my head that I wanted to share with the Hakuouki fandom.

You know this episode of The Office in which they spend the day hotly debating if Hilary Swank is hot or not (featuring presentations of arguments on both sides)? The same thing but with the captains of the Shinsengumi about Kimigiku after they went out to Shimabara.

Team Kimigiku is hot:

Shinpachi (developping the Jim-like argument that we judge courtisans according to different and unfair standarts, and that if Kimigiku wasn't a courtisan no one would ever say she isn't hot)

Heisuke

Chizuru

Team Kimigiku is not hot:

Saito

Souji

Sano (developping the argument that yes Kimigiku is beautiful, extremely so even, but hot is a gut feeling and that he simply does not feel it for her)

They spend hours debating this. Nothing of value is accomplished during the entire afternoon and it only stops because one of them has to leave to lead a patrol.

one of my favorite things in dunmeshi is how chilchuck turns out to be the guy in the party with the least to hide despite how much he goes out of his way to act all secretive. like the more we learn about everyone else it seems like they’ve all got like trauma or crimes or even just oddities that they don’t share explicitly not bc they’re hiding anything, but just because it’s never come up, or it’s too much of a hassle to explain, or it just didn’t occur to them. meanwhile, Normal Man Chilchuck is finding new gray hairs every morning because his friends want to know how old he is and his darkest secret is that his wife left him for being… too secretive. like up against a monster-phile, a dark mage, a circus attraction and Schrödinger’s cannibal, him making such a big deal out of having three adult kids is kinda epic

i KNOW the obvious route is to compare mabel-stan and dipper-ford but i need you guys to see my vision of mabel-ford dipper-stan. it's mabel and ford's stead fast dedication to the thing they love, all too easily caught up in it. it's the selflessness that both stan and dipper have. it's being willing to give everything up to make their twin happy. to keep their twin safe. it's "who would sacrifice everything they've worked for just for their dumb sibling?"
