i mean it’s all very dragon ball (which i love, but in a very different way). I feel like they are just better executed in manga format, because saying the numbers out loud just kinda breaks up the flow of dialogue and action. Plus the numbers never stay accurate since the characters are always powering up and nakaba lowkey just stops using them at one point. so like assault mode!Meliodas has a power of 142,000. BUT he defeats enemies with powers higher than that and is shown to gain even more power. But this is the highest number we have for him. Overall, theyre clunky, not updated enough to be accurate, and just kinda cheesy :/ I feel like plot could have been added to justify and explain the eye of Balor (AKA Drole if i remember correctly) but it’s just used as an excuse to quantify the characters’ strength since this season is mainly focused on physical and emotional growth, as seen by the Ishtar Arc (one of my fave arcs hehe)

so Meliodas’s beginner stats (still missing his powers) are magic 400, strength 960, spirit 2010. The way I see it, his insane spirit strength could mean one of two things: bitch is just hella determined in his quest to end their curses and protect his friends (likely) or merlin taking away his power only affects his strength and magic since spirit has to do with your mind (also likely) anyway what do y’all think?

maybe it’s driven down due to number of battle deaths like the mortality rate of the middle ages lol

So the whole concept of sacred treasures is really cool to me because they are clearly something unique to the Sins, despite all of the sacred treasures being very different and made of different materials. I mean Gowther’s is straight up made of light Still, them having weapons that serve as a constant and grow with them as they become more powerful is just a neat concept to me. I just wish we could have seen Ban use Courechouse more than just a few episodes. There really isn’t a plot reason he couldn’t have had it beforehand.

I honestly love that Meliodas destroyed the albion on his own. Like yes, he is my OP blorbo BUT he’s also supposed to be incredibly powerful in canon, which we haven’t seen him go all out with an enemy yet. Not only does he know all about albions (bc he’s a demon), but as leader of the 10 Commandments, he probably was on the controlling side of the golems. Then, as a member of Stigma, he fought against them. Not to mention, this is when he finally gets Lostvayne (the DEMON sword) back. This moment for me is when he gets to show off the perks of him being a powerful and high ranking demon. Might fuck around and do a full post later on Meliodas’s relationship to his own race and what/who he is lol

Also, I think them being super young just enhances the angst quite well.

What is One Piece

ONE PIECE is the best pirate media I've ever consumed which should tell you how warmly I recommend it considering the like. blog you're on rn. it's a manga, anime and upcoming netflix series and I'd recommend checking the live action out if you're curious abt it since the anime is kind of horrid pacing-wise (tho with great va's and music so if you think you can stand it be my guest). if the la sucks then check out the manga instead it's some of my favourite character work and worldbuilding of all time. everything abt it is just so incredibly vibrant and FUN like a central theme of the story is just like. joy and laughter and all that but it is also about defeating fascism with the power of incredible violence so it's multifaceted. the story is like so so much but very basically it's biggest treasure known to man is on an island only one crew has ever been able to reach and our mc is going to get his rubbery little hands on that thing. on the way he picks up a zany crew all of them are fantastic characters and together they make me cry with how much they love each other and are a family and all that it's beautiful. cw for like one million instances of child abuse bc everyone has a tragic backstory, also like a few genocides bc like I said fascism. cw for freak stuff is there's an imo rlly clunky racism metaphor don't care for that shit and also the way the story handles queer ppl specifically trans ppl is just a fucking. rollercoaster so beware of that I think it's nuanced but there are some really low lows. also art style is kind of nightmarish sometimes between the loop lips and the female anatomy but that's rlly all I can warn for off the top of my head and bear in mind this is a genuinely giant piece of literature so you can basically find like. anything in it. anyway sorry it's like p late and this is the kind of subject that will get me absolutely chatting so I'll stop for now. watch one piece on netflix when it drops this thursday or read the manga if you're truly based. my final message. goodbye

So I'm the one who made that cocky Tom request a year ago, and I definitely thought you weren't doing it lol. So it was a nice surprise to see it pop up, and um... Wow. That is my favorite kind of smut (a first encounter scenario with the guy being super cocky), and I've read some really good ones, but this might be the best of the best. That was so insanely hot. The way you set it all up was clever, and it made the scenario feel more realistic and less silly (which is hard to do). And then the descriptions of the actions during the smut just brought me there. I was gonna combust when he brought her hand to his abs. You also have a very smooth writing flow, able to mix in some less common vocabulary and phrasing without ever sounding clunky. Amazing work. Thank you so much for writing this!

Story 1, Good Morning:

It feels like the writing is trying to b deep ab how the game is played and what it is but it reads v clunky n repetitive

There r Xs yeah I get it

Did like the bit where he fights the avengers too, the way friends twist to enemies

The last bit w each of the other alters n Marlene rlly just made me reframe all of this from the perspective of Moon Knight as a separate alter and that… does make me like it more

Like looking at him as the one truly stuck in the cycle of battle for Khonshu over n over n over n over and that’s all he knows and he’s just fighting to survive even against other parts? Def made me like the story in the end

Like I was on board until the end. Why did Marc cut himself to win? Why did that hurt Shemsu too? I like the first half n the last bit but it feels like something was skipped and makes it anticlimactic feeling in the end

I think this one was my favorite, just like short and simple and didn’t try to stretch out of its boundaries. A bit creepy a bit weird but not confusing, just like the twists of dreams. It was really quiet. Also again, best BWnB art so far I think, so many past ones have been hard to track when they don’t work on differentiating the background with the monochrome. Good stuff!

Overall I think this issue was my fav so far just bc it didn’t have any stories that I hated. They were either like “eh but I like it” or “good” which is better than some of the downright “what the fuck” of previous ones. Vibes!

pokespe reread: emerald chapter - closing thoughts! 🟢

i've finished emerald!! and with it comes the end of the era of the dexholders constantly meeting up with each other and interacting between generations 😔

we'll still get to see these guys again (other than yellow. sorry yellow. i hope they bring u back one day honey) but past this point it's gonna be a lot less overtly interconnected. which is fine! but it is a little sad :')

anyways, here's my thoughts on the chapter as a whole!

(i also wanna preface this with the fact that i realized near the beginning that as a kid i definitely never actually read this arc in its entirety, just the end part once gold and crystal show up 💀 so technically this wasn't a true reread. but yknow. anyways)

the first thing that i noticed is that this arc feels a lot more focused on the battles and gimmicks at first; it kinda takes a while for the story to really kick in, which did make the first bits of it a littleeee boring/bland for me personally. but thats ok

i think part of that is because of how emerald as a character is depicted. i love emerald, but he is a character where for most of the arc, we see him from an outside perspective, via other characters observing him and wondering about him rather than really getting to read his thoughts and learn about him as a person. this can make him feel kind of uninteresting in the beginning, but i dont think its a severe issue or anything.

i do also think that the way his backstory is revealed is a littleee clunky? like having ruby and sapphire just be like "we dont much about you so tell us all about yourself!" feels like kind of an obvious plot device to get emerald backstory and doesnt read very naturally. but i dont rlly care, esp since we then immediately go INTO his backstory which is very enjoyable to read through.

speaking of which, i love his dynamic with crystal so so much. i think it's really cute how the whole reason he became a dexholder was just because he wanted to train with her :)

and speaking of emerald's friends........ latios and latias YIPPEE. i love that they just like him for some reason and go around being his friends its cute as hell. and of course. latias. im not going to lie to you and say that human latias isnt cute as hell IT'S CUTE AS HELL OK. ALL OF ITS OUTFITS ARE ADORABLE AND I LOVE IT JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. sorry...........

moving on, i reallyyyy love ruby and sapphire in this arc. their dialogue and just general characterization is. mwah. i love them trying to be friends with emerald and him just totally shutting them down LOL

i will say that ruby forgetting the climax of R&S is. kind of stupid and feels like a way to just artificially create more relationship drama between these two. i think that was mentioned/implied at the end of R&S but i forgot lol. anyways iirc i dont think this gets resolved until ORAS which is fucking insane. we'll see but considering that my memories of ORAS are not good, i feel like it's very likely that i'll end up just retconning this in my personal hc lol

ok DUDE. the shit with the blue orb was sooooo sick. i was so happy that they explored that a bit more bcuz the whole thing of the orbs corrupting anyone who touches them (and RUBY AND SAPPHIRE HAVING BOTH DONE THAT) was really fucking cool and i def thougt it could be touched on more.

i like how we learn about it more not just for the sake of it, but also it ends up being relevant because of archie. and we get to learn through it that there are permanent side effects no matter what, via sapphire's eyes apparently having a dim glow to them because of her contact w the blue orb? which um. is fucking sick

circling back to archie, him being guile is genuinely a cool twist and i didnt see it coming even though i have literally read this before. also him literally KILLING(?) maxie for another shot at life is genuinelyyyy fucking crazy. and i like how they tied in team galactic, it makes this feel at least a little connected to the upcoming chapter.

ok and now. something that's not at all relevant to the chapter as a whole but i have to talk about bcuz to middle school me this was the only thing that mattered about this arc

gold and silver in this arc make me sooooo fucking ill oh my lawrd. this shit is still just as crazy as it was in middle school WHAT ARE WE DOING RIGHT NOW

ok first of all. gold giving silver the ring (via very much Holding His Hand) and calling him his buddy. looking absolutely MURDEROUS after archie taps on the petrified silver. i love how this arc shows just how much gold cares about silver. crystal too ofc, but its less expected from gold due to how rocky their relationship was in the beginning. like that is his friend and if you touch him you will die. understand?

and then of course this moment oh my godddd bro. like him calling silver his buddy is just like aww theyre friends but then gold had to go and act as gay as possible about it. WHY ARE YOU FULL FACE BLUSHING OVER SILVER OVERHEARING YOU CALL HIM YOUR FRIEND! YOU ARE GAY!!!!!!!!!!

also i already said this in my initial post about this moment but like. its even gayer when you imagine what it looked like without gold's inner thoughts here, like silver tells him he heard and gold just blushes and looks all nervous/embarrassed. and then silver just continues talking. like hello.......

them getting to deal the final blow was fucking awesome. they didnt get to do a lot this arc since they were petrified with the others, but im glad that they were specifically highlighted here. getting to see them finally as officially part of the dexholders is so cool! esp since we dont get to see yellow past this point, i think this is a nice little mini sendoff to their character (for now)

seeing all the dexholders interact in general is just so fun and makes me so so happy. they're a family!!! they look out for each other!!! grahhhh

anyways. that's about all i have to say :) i've become a little busier so i dont know when i'll be starting diamond & pearl, but im very excited to since that means I GET TO SEE DPP AGAIN. MY CHILDREN.

ive been reading a manhwa for funsies which is the s classes that I raised and. i can instantly pin down when the novel has more detail than it lets down. cause the manhwa does a rlly good job at drawing the lines and cracks in what the Han brothers are. but i feel like theres more. like the han brothers have many deep cut moments of "wild rulling force that drove everyone away" and the "one who cares and gives all their love for, is probably somewhat as fucked up" sibling dynamic is soooooo good as a premise but the gags are a lil eh. lands on the table and slides off of it for me. though i think its just its in a visual art form maybe. not sure. i HAVE seen novel excerpts though with these two and. ough. family,.,,,,,,,,,,,,, i think these two rlly make the whole experience for me, how much they literally gave their all to shield each other and protect each other. in not the best ways. like u think the one is more unhinged but the other brother is also subtly just as unhinged in protecting family. that aside though i do like some characters. looking at the funny weird blonde man. i know later on he's gonna have some sort of massive character shift but the dynamic between him and the mc is funny. i will criticize a whole bunch of parts in it though. i don't like riette. i dont get the handle on her whole character rlly. i kinda doubt this will be properly addressed later with her whole deal either just cause of the tone. and some of the worldbuilding does get clunky here and there, though it is being unraveled bc the MC himself doesn't know the full scope of Everything either. so i guess???? maybe ill read the novel if i can get through the whole BOOK that is orv. eventually. i want to. im so sorry orv kim dokja would never forgive me. anyways manhwa is like a 6.5/10. 7 if im feeling nice.

They’ve been doing this for six months, ever since Steve chanced down Cherry Lane one winter night and found Billy sat on the curb, the bright orange tip of his cigarette illuminating a fresh black eye. Ever since Steve realised that none of Billy’s injuries had ever come from a bar fight. Ever since Steve realised that Billy wasn’t the monster in the Hargrove house.

The first night Billy stays in the guest room, it’s full of light pink bedding, throw pillows and potpourri. He braced for the comments, thick with sarcasm, but there was nothing. An almost silent thanks that left Steve shutting the door behind him, full of quiet shock.

The next evening, Steve goes in to check that Billy is still there, he hasn’t heard a noise from the other room for hours. He gently pushes the door open, “Billy? You still alive in here?” There is no response. Billy is sat on the floor, back against the wall, staring. Steve isn’t really sure what to do, so he puts the bowl of stew that he was holding down next to him. He reaches out, fingers briefly running against Billy’s shoulder. “Just let me know if you need anything” and retreats to his own room.

The mattress dips and Steve is aware of Billy crawling into the bed next to him. He sleepily pulls the covers up, opens his arms and allows Billy to slot in. He, unthinking, presses a kiss to the top of Billy’s head. Steve freezes, waiting for the reaction, the anger and disgust. There is none, just a return in the hollow of his throat. They share the bed after that.

They settle into a routine, full of coffee and kisses, film nights sprawled over each other. It feels warm and safe until one evening late August. Steve is sat up on the counter watching while Billy stirs the dinner, he says that he has to go away for a few days, something about a family event. The unoffered invitation hangs between them. Billy knows it wouldn’t be a good idea, not really, but it still stirs up an ache in his chest.

Then Steve is gone, the empty bed feels like a cavern, he lays there in silence knowing that it’s only a few days. It’ll be fine. Steve will be back on Saturday and then he can forget the yawning hole in his heart and the voice whispering that one day he might not come back.

Max said she’d come by on Thursday, so he sits on the overly expensive couch and waits. The clock ticks down, the empty sound ringing in his ears. As the hours pass he feels the ache settle in, burning in his chest, tries to push it away but it’s no use. Tears burn in his eyes, he lets them fall, there’s no one here. He is alone.

The house suddenly feels too big, looming over him. He has to get out. Takes his keys and settles into the car, cigarette lit, he drives aimlessly. As the sun begins to set he catches sight of Max. She’s outside the arcade, surrounded by her friends, laughing in the autumn light. The ache returns. He keeps driving.

He doesn’t go back to the house that night. He sleeps pressed into the back seat of the Camaro, it’s safe here, cramped but with no space for the ache.

The morning light filters though the windows and wakes him. He lights a cigarette, pushing away the familiar feelings of rejection. Just one more day. He shouldn’t have let this happen. He could do this before. He spent his life alone. Now he can’t even deal with a few days, his father’s voice rings through his head, useless, weak, pathetic.

He resolves to go back, pushes open the door, tries to ignore the empty feeling that has settled over him. He walks through the entrance hall and is greeted by a familiar sound.

“Hey you!” It’s Steve, he’s here. There are hands on him now pulling him forward towards the couch, he lands and is full of the sounds of Steve’s excited rambling.

“I really thought it would be awful but it really wasn’t. We went to this little cafe by the beach, you’d have loved it there, they had these little cheese balls and oh, they were incredible.”

The ache clings again.

He’s standing now, pulling away, it’s too much. “Sounds great, I just need to go to bed” his voice sounds harsh, he hears it, but it’s too late. He sees Steve’s face as he turns, he looks hurt, confused, sees him open his mouth but doesn’t stay to hear the words.

The door of the guest bedroom slams behind him. He buries himself in the covers, pillow over his head and tries to calm the ragged breathing, the pounding heart.

The bed dips next to him, the pillow is gently peeled away. He keeps his eyes closed, doesn’t want to see the hurt he’s caused, the hurt he always causes. Steve threads his fingers through Billy’s hair, soft touches along his cheekbones. The warmth comes back then, the tears too. Steve pulls him closer, wrapping his arms around Billy’s body.

“What is it love?”

“Nobody really needs me”

“I do, I need you”

COLOURS!!!!!! specifically the pride lighting

soundtrack overall was very funky i love it

imogen’s character, and her consequent discussion with nick, hope if theres a season two she gets some focus

inclusion of texting as a narrative device in a way that did not feel clunky

layers to Nick’s “am i gay” sequence - primarily the fact that you get bombarded with information about queer suffering and how that feels when you realize youre queer

very very good coming out scene with nick’s mum it was realistically messy but still depicted a positive experience

showing the link between gen z queer identity and the resource of the internet

milkshake-concert timing is so unrealistic im sorry why would you do that

“thats homophobic harry” i get the point and i think its probably just an intentional testament to the fact that Nick has never rlly stood up to homophobia before but i cringe every time

shouldve included the decent rugby team guys more, would have created a more well rounded dynamic within the social environment Nick was navigating

did he have to be standing above the crowd also i think i wouldve maybe preferred Nick to go to Charlie  like,,, during a ref call or something not in the middle of play but maybe im not romantic enough

why would you play girls by girl in red there like i get why technically but also the execution does not create the desired effect

this is my little guy Marrow! they’re a dunmer, genderfluid (she/he/they pronouns) who was separated from their family by a flood and taken by a nomadic khajiiti clan :) dont mind all my little scribbles and notes JHSHDS but their “actual” name ig is Idonea Serethi, but when the khajiit found her she was knawing on some marshmerrow but couldnt say it properly <3 hence the name Marrow. they end up being the archmage of the college of winterhold and also the thane of winterhold and he makes it his mission to completely revamp both the city and the college. eventually the college earns recognition as an academy of both the arcane and history. uhhh he’s also besties with j’zargo and onmund (dw about brelyna she’s off adventuring with a different oc <33) oh also that white face paint is literally just cause he thinks it makes him look cool. i am only just seeing the resemblance to gamzee oh dear god

a/n: i’ve been listening to this song a lot and i knew i wanted to write something to it so here’s a lil something while i avoid work. also - the bucky fandom rlly hates on dot but i didn’t feel like coming up w a name

“She...she slept with him again,” Bucky moans from the other end of the line. He’s beside himself again, all over a bitch who calls herself Dot and can’t keep her legs closed to save her life. You sigh, phone squeezed precariously between your shoulder and ear as you grab your keys. “I don’t...I don’t know what to do. She promised, Y/N, she promised and...and-“

You shush him as soothingly as possible. Driving to his place is almost something you can do in your sleep, now. Dot had gone out with her girlfriends, and apparently wasn’t planning on coming back tonight. “I know, Buck, I know. I’m sorry.”

You’d given up a long time ago trying to convince him to leave her. First he’d made excuses. Then he’d claimed he would. Eventually, he started getting pissed every time he even though you were going to suggest it, so you didn’t. You felt like the worst friend in the whole world. At the same time, you felt like there was nothing else to do but be there for him. Even as you let yourself into his apartment, even as you let him collapse into your chest, you felt guilt eating away at you.

“Bucky...” You murmur as he pulls away and stands suddenly, swaying on his feet. Reaching for the water bottle on the coffee table, you say his name again, but he waves you off. His body is trembling with poorly disguised anger, footsteps heavy as he walks away. 

“Help me pack my things, will you?” Bucky calls over his shoulder as he disappears down the hall. You hear drawers slamming in the other room and sigh. After screaming as quietly as possible through gritted teeth, you make your way to his and Dot’s bedroom.

Bucky has barely been crashing on your couch for a week when she stops by. Her perfect hair is tugged into a ponytail so high and tight it looks almost painful, blush too bright and eyeliner too thick around her small eyes. She does this strange thing with her chin when it’s you that opens the door - half-lifting it, half-moving her head side to side. Like she needs that last little bit of confidence, even though you don’t know how intimidating you can be in your sweats and sports bra.

“I’m looking for James,” Dot announces, eyeing your outfit without bothering to hide your disgust. She pops up onto the balls of her feet in her clunky heels, looking over your shoulder as if you’ve hidden him behind the vase in the entryway. “He should have come home by now.” 

“James is out right now. I’ll let him know you were here, bye!” You chirp with forced sweetness, tilting your head and smiling brightly. You make to close the door on her but those damned wedges stop you. Her itty-bitty nose twitches, and she retracts her foot. She exhales pointedly slow before raising her brows expectantly.

“And where might he be?” She inquires, the same sugar laced through her venomous words. You have to bite the inside of your cheek to keep from positively smacking the snark right out of her. It takes some convincing to get her to leave - you both know that you’re perfectly aware of where he is, but both of you also know there’s no way in hell you’ll tell her. Dot finally huffs, stomping her foot petulantly. She reaches into her bag and pulls out a thick, baby-pink envelope, shoving it towards you.

“Whatever. When you see him, give him this. And don’t tell me he isn’t here - I’ve already been to Steve’s.” She’s gone in a swirl of Chanel No. 5 and faux fur, and you fake-gag at her retreating figure. You slip back into the apartment and head towards the kitchen where you’d been halfway through dinner. The envelope glares at you from the counter, until you give in and pick it up to study in a moment of weakness.

In her strange, loopy handwriting, James is scrawled across the front. You study the packaging for only a moment before you’re tearing into it - your curiosity overrides your better judgement, like it always does. You’ve just gotten to the second page (of four, long pages in tiny handwriting) and are resisting the urge to retch at her manipulative pleading when the front door opens and shuts.

“Smells good in here,” Calls Bucky as he makes his way through the apartment. You scramble to gather all the pages and the envelope in hand, frantically searching for a hiding spot. He’s standing on the other side of the island from you all too soon, and you shove your hands behind you back. “It’s crazy, I could’ve sworn I saw - what are you hiding?” 

You curse in your head, swallowing thickly. You never hide anything from Bucky, haven’t been nervous around him since you first started trying to broach the wicked subject that was Dot. You fidget under his gaze, unable to speak as he creeps around the counter towards you. Bucky has never seemed quite so big until now, or maybe you just hadn’t noticed because he’s always shown you his goofy, teddy-bear side. Now though, you’re very aware of the way he towers above you as he reaches around to snatch the offending objects from your grip.

The kitchen is deafeningly silent. You wish the tile would swallow you. To distract yourself from the stupidly endearing way his lips move whilst he reads, you focus back on dinner, setting your small dining table and getting the meal on the table. Your hands shake as he still says nothing. opting instead to shove the letter into the garbage. As far as you could tell, he hadn’t even finished reading it, but he drops so heavily into his chair and looks so close to tears you don’t even ask.

Dinner, too, is quiet. Bucky eats more than enough for both of you; leftovers don’t exist for meals you share with him. You clean up without second thought as soon as both of you finish. You expect Bucky to putz about the apartment, maybe shower or watch TV, but he stays leaning on his forearms on the island whilst you load the dishwasher. A quick glance back reveals him chewing his lips and staring holes into the counter top. You know Bucky, and you know he’s trying to find the words to tell you something, so you patiently mirror his stance once you’re done. Abruptly, he straightens, pulling off his shirt.

“Bucky-” You gasp, but any questions die in your throat as he turns around. Painted across his rib-cage are yellowing bruises, and the length of his back is run with scratches, newer than you care to think about.

“She pushed me. Into the fucking-the dresser.” His voice is low, and the way it shakes makes your heart crack. “She’s never...I didn’t think...You were right. I’m sorry.”

You’re in front of him in an instant, catching him as he shrinks before your eyes. The pair of you sink to the kitchen floor; you’re sure you present an interesting picture. Your beefy, giggly best friend, curled into your body as his own is wracked with sobs. You card your fingers through his hair, shushing him as soothing as you can as he continues to apologize. Your heart breaks, and despite your competitive streak and love of winning, you’d never wished more to be wrong.
