Born in the beautiful town of icemeler in Turkey, Ruslan (nicknamed Rus) lived with his mother and father and three sisters. His family ran a hotel by the beach and Rus enjoyed his childhood of fishing and swimming in the summer and going up to the mountains to ski in the winter. He was an outdoors type of boy, always getting covered in dirt and climbing trees. He was his father's favourite, destined to take over the hotel, but at the age of 14 something happened which changed everything. There was a fire in the hotel and Rus managed to save two of his sisters and him mother, but his youngest sister and father didn't survive.

As the family were well loved in the town. The locals helped them find somewhere to live while the insurance paid out a sum which was enough to keep them secure for the rest of their lives. His mother had cousins who had opened a restaurant in Seattle and had invited them over for a holiday. The family liked Seattle so much they moved there and Rus and his sisters were enrolled in school where they were taught American and Rus gravitated to psychology. After he left school he went to college and studied hard to gain a degree in child psychology and then got an intern job at the child services department in Seattle council, he also helped translate from Turkish to American.

Rus worked his way up the ranks and nearly lost his job once, when he fell for a woman called Beth who's son was in need of counselling. He met her in the waiting room of the local council offices unaware that she was there to see her son who had been taken from her care due his behaviour. Since then Rus has kept his private life and work life strictly separate, he has been known to sleep with men and women and has publicly come out as pansexual, although his mother doesn't really understand what that means. The kids who visit him for counselling all call him big bear because of his calming nature and caring side. When he is not at work  Rus likes to decorate the old Victorian house he bought at auction, as he is a eco friendly kind of guy, nothing in the house is brand new and it still looks modern and comfortable to live in. He goes to the gym twice a week, lives three blocks from his mom and sisters and has a dog called boe.
