Strange house - DGM doujin fangame guide book scans
so in January I found a physical copy of a 2010 d.gray-man doujin visual novel called Strange house by the doujin group MOONLIGHT CAFE. the game is a romance visual novel where you play as Lavi and can date Kanda while out on a mission with him to, you guessed it, a strange house.
the game is completely in Japanese and almost all mention of it online has gone away as it's a 14 year old game, so suffice to say finding anything about this game has been difficult. it won't be a complete mystery now though as I have the game and the guide book!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so... let's look inside this guide book!
before we crack it open, here's the scans of the DVD cover slip. the outside is similar to the guide book (see above) but the inside is an adorable collection of chibis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now let's look at the guide book! all of these scans are at a high dpi so open them up in a new tab if you'd like to see them up close. also, most of this is in Japanese and I won't be able to translate a majority of it. if you'd like to translate it, please feel free to and add it to the post!
Tumblr media
D.Gray-man LaviYu Only
Windows only sound novel type adventure game
(side note- visual novels are usually called adventure games in Japan. sound novel is another term for them that was more popular to use years ago)
Tumblr media
The next two pages go over the system menus- the main menu, the CG gallery (where you can view cut scene artwork), in game menu, save & load, and the options menus.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now that we've gone over the system, it's on to the character bios! Lavi is up first as he's the player character followed by Kanda and the finder Doma.
Tumblr media
(somehow Kanda ends up in a bridal gown in this game)
Tumblr media
(she has doll arms and legs? it says she's the other guy's sister)
Tumblr media
(I have no clue what her name is suppose to be. Yuno Moreta? Yunoo Moreeta?? I'm guessing it's trying to be like Yu Kanda??? Allen's bio here mentions him being the 14th and that he doesn't appear much as he wasn't assigned to this mission)
Tumblr media
(Lenalee's basically says that she's an exorcist and Komui's younger sister, but mentions that she might be seen on the mission in front of Lavi? the guy on the right was apparently meant to be something like a love rival in the MVP [think beta build] for the game)
Tumblr media
after the character bios is the route guides!
while not every visual novel has choices or multiple endings, visual novels that do have multiple endings refer to them as "routes" or "scenarios", i.e. the series of choices you make to reach each ending. this game has 4 routes, each with a different artist.
Tumblr media
scenario A is called Dolly and written by 響夜 and illustrated by Guriko.
Tumblr media
scenario B is called Coming Home and written by 響夜 and illustrated by Seiko and others.
Tumblr media
scenario C is.... something about a bracelet? it's written by 秋吉 and illustrated by Bonnu.
Tumblr media
scenario D is called lonely travels / loneliness while traveling and is written by 木花 and illustrated by ネコ科ノコ.
to be honest this is a lot more than I was expecting! we're already at 7 team members and haven't touched the programming or music aspects. I also have no clue how long this game is - there's only a few choices listed here to get each route so each ending could be 5k words (short) or over 50k words (long).
Tumblr media
now onto staff!
sadly, I won't be able to translate these as it's a majority kanji, but here they are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and that's it! there's a lot of cute art here that I hope will be saved on the internet now that the sites for MOONLIGHT CAFE's games are mostly defunct.
personally as a visual novel developer I find it amazing that they were able to not only make such a good looking fan visual novel in 2010 with multiple endings but to get so many people on board and make it all work out. and then to make a physical release of it! (side note- I'm still unsure what engine this was made in! I'm thinking kirikiri but I'm not sure)
I have the game set up and am able to play it, so at some point I'll share some footage of it on this tag on my blog. I'm hesitant to put the exe online as this was a paid game at one point and the doujin circle seems to be disbanded, but I might if there's interest (is this considered a no-no for doujins? I'm unfamiliar on etiquette for doujins, so some advice on that would be appreciated if you have any)

chapter three ; merry sunday.
Tumblr media
When you slam yourself so hard into the heart of the Barista that took your order just a few moments ago you end up accidentally giving him the potion of swiftness without realizing it.
Or atleast ─ that's what it looked like. Because Ace (the name that the nametag on his apron gave away), seems like he's moving even faster than he did before. And mind you, he's already a fast worker as is. you know this because you've been observing him ever since you stepped foot in this cafe.
It's a funny sight, sort of. Seeing this 6'1 guy take an order and immediately get to making said order all under a few minutes, You wish you could see the customers reaction to that ; because quite a handful of them seemed shocked by just how quick he is when he rings up their order only after a few minutes at best. Maybe it's not a bad thing after all… unless he gets paid by the hour and not by how well he does his job. If it's the former, you can only grimace and wish him for the best.
Shaking your head and averting your focus away from the Barista, you take a sip of your drink as you watch Perona multitask ; her right hand moves swiftly, holding a pencil firmly and making lines on a small notebook she always brings with her, drawing. (Perona's a fashion designer and a seamstress, 24 and already planning to launch her own clothing line. It's no surprise that she brings a notebook everywhere she goes, to write or draw down ideas whenever inspiration strikes her.)
Her other hand is scooping small bites of pancakes into her mouth, the plate of pancakes were cut into bite-sized pieces in advance ─ so all she had to do was stab her fork into the unsuspecting pieces of pancakes and eat it. Sometimes her fork misses, making a small 'clank!' sound from hitting the plate instead of the pancakes. When that happens, you grab a butter knife and rearrange the pancakes by pushing it to the middle or closer to her side (where she usually aims her fork) so she'll always get a bite of pancakes no matter what. Until she finishes her plate, of course.
Putting down the drink you've been sipping on for the last 2 minutes, you look at the few empty dishes cluttering your table. One is a plate with leftover crust and a few mixed berries left, the remains of the Berry Pie you and Perona ate 15 minutes ago. The other plate was the plate that had Scallion Pancake on it, the taste was so good and savory that nothing was left behind in the plate. You were surprised at how much Variety the cafe menu has, it definitely didn't let you down.
You remember Ace telling you that there are a few board games in the cabinets that were in the corner of the store, they were free to play by any customer that entered the cafe if you remember correctly. You came here to have breakfast and start searching up essential stuff for your vacation break (hotels , tour places , driving fees and all). But a few boardgames wouldn't hurt, right? Afterall, your vacation has already started and playing games counted as letting loose.
You set your mind to play a few board games with Perona before leaving so you start stacking up empty plates and glasses to make room for a few games. Perona finally looks up to you when she hears glass clinking and gives you a quirked eyebrow when you started wiping the table with cloth. You give her a grin and she snaps her notebook closed, putting it and her pencils aside.
"Are we leaving this early?" She asks as you collect the utensils from plates and stack them into the highest plate, Perona's eyes follows your every move, identical to a cat.
"No, I'm making space."
"For what?"
You bite back the urge to respond with a 'your mom' joke, knowing Perona's mood usually sours instantly whenever you even try to deliver the line. Instead, you opted to put her question on hold and to get the game in question.
Already used to your odd behavior at times, Perona doesn’t bother to question you suddenly rushing out your chair anymore and lets you go. She vaguely hears you scrambling to get something a few tables behind her, but doesn’t give it any thought. However, when the voice of the Barista that served them earlier starts to blend in with your taken off-guard exclamation of surprise, she can’t help but strain her ears to eavesdrop on your starting conversation. She's as nosy as she can get, but that’s always how she's been.
“─What’s this game about?” She hears you question, followed along by the sound of a box rattling. Perona had no doubt that you were shaking whatever board game is in your hands currently. You’ve always had a habit of shaking boxes to hear what’s inside, she doesn’t get why you do it, and she probably never will. That’s fine with her, you do what you do, perona does what perona does. It’s how the dynamic between you two works ; no matter what absurd or odd things one of you do, the other never judges. And it’s simply how it’ll always be.
"Well─ you’re familiar with trick questions right?" Perona hears the barista respond, his tone so cheery it makes her suspicious. Just a little.
"Hell yea! I love those, is the game basically just filled with that..?" Your voice trails off questioning, but you spoke up again. "Would you mind humoring a customer by explaining it in more detail though?" She can practically feel your smile from here, is it just her or was your voice more up-beat than it usually is? Also, were you trying to make the conversation last longer? Her suspicions are only rising higher.
A chuckle. "Course i don't mind! This board game is basically filled to the brim with those kinds of questions where the most obvious answer is probably the wrong one. It is a team game, usually played with 4 people, 2 on each team, But─!” She hears a clap, man this guy is expressive. “─You can definitely still play it with just two people. The rules are pretty simple, let me explain…” Perona drops the eavesdropping when the guy starts getting off-track with his explanation, now somehow telling a story about his experience playing the very same board game with his brothers animatedly (and god, just how many brothers does this guy have?).
Time passes, you don’t know how much ; but it passes and you return to your table with a board game in hand, satisfied with your pick and show it off to a not so impressed Perona.
“Really?”
“Mn? What?”
She rolls her eyes,”Did you seriously have to take that long just to get a board game [name]?” You stare at her as you took your seat again, setting the board game on the table and crossed your arms. “What are you looking at me suspiciously for? Of course I had to, how else would we play the game correctly if we didn’t even know how to?”
“Not talking about the game, [name]!”
“But you said─” You cleared your throat, adjusting your voice to mimic Perona’s. ‘Did you seriously have to take that long just to get a board game [name]?!’ Which ─ let me remind you, does imply that you were referencing the board game.”
She made a show with her hands, throwing them open dramatically. “Fine! I’m talking about the barista. Did you have to enable him with those hums? You only made him sidetracked and drew out the conversation longer than it needed to be.”
“Oh so you were listening in! Typical, so i guess i don’t have to explain the rules and how to play this game then? Awesome.” You grin, enjoying Perona’s reaction as the corner of her right eye twitches and her fingers drum the table rhythmically (Something you have translated to her trying to not lose her calm, based on the observations you’ve made over the few years at least.)
As fun as teasing Perona is, you’re not that mischevious to the point you would make Perona actually angry ─ no one would want an angry Perona, very much none would like to face her wrath. So you give a small smile, giving a small pat at her hand that drummed against the table.
“Alright, sorry.” You lean back against your chair. “I was just trying to look for a game that looked fun to play for the both of us when he cut in, believe me ─ I was surprised as well.”
“No, yeah, I heard you.” Perona quickly replied, now slurping on her unfinished drink.
“Sometimes I wonder just how far your hearing range is. Scary.”
She shrugs, “You do realize you were only a few tables away right?” Then waves her hand around. “Wasn’t that hard to hear what was happening, continue the story!”
“If you listened in on us, then you already know what happened!” You bring up.
“But i wanna hear it from you! From your perspective.” She countered. “Also I stopped listening half way through when he decided to talk about his brothers or something.”
“Oh. I guess the guy is pretty chatty..”
“More than that, jeez. It reminds me of Luffy alot─”
“Ah, that's his younger brother!”
That stunned Perona quickly, though not for long as she exclaimed ‘I should’ve known!’ with a dramatic exasperated face and started to ramble, listing off the similarities between Ace and Luffy that she had noticed so far.
You’re starting to regret bringing the topic up but you suppose it was inevitable, it was either now that Perona makes the connection, or later on ─ When the guy in question joins them at their table to be the GameMaster. From what you gathered so far about his character, he probably will bring up his brothers again.. At Least it’s better having Perona spiral into dumping all information she has about him now rather than later ; in front of the actual guy. That would have been both awkward and embarrassing.
Oh yeah, you haven’t told Perona about the GameMaster thing yet.
You wonder how she’d react to that, You’ll find that out soon enough though - Right now, you need to figure out a way on how to put a pause (a stop, would be more preferred but you’ll take what you can get) on her tangent without causing anymore disturbances to the other customers inside the shop.
“Yeah, their similarities really shine through when you make the connection, Hu?─”
“Why is the barista heading this way?” Perona cuts you off without hesitance, side-eyeing the ‘barista’ with no subtlety at all.
You prayed, for whoever exists out there, that the barista would be the guy you had in mind and not some poor worker just trying to do their job (getting side-eyed by a gothic woman at 7 in the morning isn’t exactly an ideal scenario a worker would want to experience when doing their shifts after all).
You cough. “Which barista?”
Perona sharpens her eyes at you. “The one that took our order and served us?”
“Oh, Ace? Stop looking at him like you’re about to shoot lasers from your eyes and disintegrate him. He’s gonna be our GameMaster for this game.”

How to not be a shitebag and actually go outside and talk to people? I’m the same anon that asked if it was okay to go to a gay bar on your own but now realising that I can’t go to a club without seeming like a creep.
I just want some friends.
Sorry I’m a bit tipsy and want advice from a fellow Scottish queer.
I'm telling you mate, you're not at all automatically a creep for going places by yourself. Like, quick list of things which make you look like a shitebag in clubs:
- sexually and/or verbally and/or physically bothering folks after they've indicated they're uncomfortable
Kinda it! Other than that everyone's there, most folk are drinking, everyone's doing their thing, most folk are happy to meet new people
Look for stuff that you like! Do you like books? Most (especially smaller or independent) bookshops and also most libraries in my experience will do some kind of book clubs, new book launches, talks with authors, that kind of thing. Do you like music, poetry, etc? Check out open mic nights! Do you like films? Smaller cinemas and some bars do screenings of old favourite movies that are typically very relaxed and fun. Do you like board games or ttrpgs? Loads of places do board game nights and every one I've ever seen has had newbie nights or free to play sessions as well as any regular, like, Tuesday Magic The Gathering guys. Do you like drag? Drag shows. Trivia? Me n my friends once adopted a one person pub quiz team cause she was so determined to do well.
Show up! You might make a friend, you might learn a bit about how these kind of social interactions and spaces work and be able to build on that for the future, worst case scenario you see a thing you think is cool and then go home, which is still at least as fun as just staying home in the first place.
I know events sound daunting but the thing about them is, everyone is there for the same thing. If you're in a random cafe like "who here likes ghibli movies" it's unlikely people will be inclined to engage. If that cafe is hosting a ghibli movie night, EVERYONE THERE will be DELIGHTED to talk about their favourite ghibli movies. It gives you instant commonality.
Making new friends in new spaces is scary but I guarantee if you go to things just because you like them, you'll have a blast and friendships will happen. There's one local show I went to for the first time purely on the recommendation of a friend who was performing, so I was in the crowd alone not knowing anyone; now I go every time its on and have about a dozen people where we recognise and greet each other fondly, because we know each other as people who have fun at this show and like to talk about it. It's that simple, really.
It can be scary and lonely and I don't have even half of all the answers, but truly, this is my best advice.
And if you ever run into me out there, I can't promise I'm a great friend, but I'll definitely stand you a drink, alright?

Seeds of Hope (JHOPE) CH6 - A Traced Reflection
Tumblr media
As I wake up, I reach for my phone to text Hoseok. Except I don't find it on my nightstand where I left it last night.
Opening my eyes as I sit up in bed, I find myself in a completely different room. This isn't my bedroom...
I find a phone on a desk. Walking to the far side of the room, I pick it up and open the recent texts:
April 8, 4:35 pm Namjoon: Hey this is Namjoon from the cafe! Now you have my number too!
Me: Ah! Thank you :) were you able to finish the song you were writing?
Namjoon: Well, there's still quite a bit of work to be done on it, but I showed it to some higher-ups and they loved it!
Me: That's great! I'm happy for you :>
Namjoon: yeah... hey, are you open to meeting again? Maybe at the same cafe?
Me: Without spilling my latte on you? That'd be lovely.
Namjoon: Great! Does this Saturday sound good?
Me: Yep! See you then!
-
Namjoon? Cafe? Yesterday I was having dinner with Hoseok and my mom... what happened? Where am I now?
Frantically I run out into the hall, a studio apartment awaiting me. It was nice, but it wasn't mine. I walk towards the calendar.
April 4 - meeting with board directors April 7 - Final Project Due!!! April 9 - Dinner w/ mom April 12 - Date with Namjoon!!!
Hearts were drawn all around April 12. Was today Friday? Was today the day of the date? Or another day?
I run back into the room to grab the phone. Unlocking it, I notice the date. April 12, Saturday. I run my hands through my hair in panic, trying to form a game plan as a new message pops up:
Today, 8:53 am Namjoon: We're still on for later, right?
Shoot. That's today. Cleary I was very excited to meet this man, and he seems kind, but how do I tell him I have no idea who he is? Much less who I am!
I scramble into the bathroom. In the mirror I find the same face I've always had. At least some things stayed the same. Bringing my hand to my face, I notice faint markings on it. Looking closer, I discover that it's the same number Hoseok had previously written there. As it was in permanent ink, it was going to take a while to wash off.
I start cleaning up the lines with a new pen to ensure I have it in case I wake up in another new universe. After that, I go back to the phone.
To Hoseok's phone, I send a quick message:
Me: Hello! Is this Hoseok?
Going back to Namjoon's chat I face a harder situation:
Today, 8:53 am Namjoon: We're still on for later, right?
Me: The date later?
Within seconds, he responds:
Namjoon: Yeah, it's Saturday? Did you forget ㅠㅠ
Me: Well.., I did forget, but would you believe me if I said I forgot everything else too?
Namjoon: What do you mean? You forgot you're identity haha
Me: Kinda...
Namjoon: Don't tell me you're serious?
Me: I woke up this morning and didn't know anything about this world! Who I am, where I was, who you are!
Namjoon: ..this world? Namjoon: what was the last thing you remember?
Me: being at my house with my parents last night and my friend...
Namjoon: okay, do you have anything to prove it? Maybe any of their phone numbers so you can ask? Maybe you just got a small concussion and they can tell you what happened..
Me: I have one of their phone numbers, I already reached out to him. But it was real! My memories, my life, I'm sure this girl is nice but she is not me!
Namjoon: okay... relax. We'll figure this out together. Can you meet up a little earlier? I can give you directions
Me: yes!
-
Looking around the bustling cafe, I tried to find the face of the man I'd never seen.
"Stacy! Over here!" A voice called.
I looked over to find him. He was tall, very handsome. He seemed way too good for me. Somewhere I felt like I'd seen him before, but maybe it's just a head injury. Clearly I'm not thinking clearly.
He walks up to me, "Ah, I guess you wouldn't know. I'm Namjoon, nice to meet you"
I shake his hand, "did she look like me? How did you know?"
"I've been thinking of your face since we last spoke" he smiled.
I just stared up at him.
"Er-,.. I guess that's a weird thing to say, considering...."
"It's okay, Namjoon. I'm sorry, you do seem really nice. I think I must've really liked you"
He spoke, "well, maybe you still can"
He noticed you bite your bottom lip, looking down.
"I know, it's just," I gulped, "I don't want to lose everyone I've ever known"
-
The two of us sat down at a table after ordering our drinks. We discussed simple things. He was easy to converse with.
"So, you said you had a friend that you'd messaged?" He asked.
I flipped my hand to show him the writing on my palm, "yeah, he had written his number down a week or so ago. Luckily I could copy it while it was still visible"
"What was his name?"
"Hoseok"
"Oh... his name wasn't Jung Hoseok, was it?"
"Yeah, it was! Yeah, he was a trainee for a K-POP group? Also with two other guys, Jimin and Taehyung"
He stares at me, his mouth wide open.
"What?"
"Was their group's name BTS?"
I think back to when I saw them practicing, back when I first met them, "hmm, I'm not sure. I don't think I ever got the name of his group"
He pulls out his phone and starts typing, "I'm telling Hoseok to come over right now, this is crazy"
"What? You have Hoseok's number too?"
"Yeah? I'm in his band? Of course I have his number."
Namjoon quickly texts back the friend. And yet, Hoseok still hasn't responded to me. He sets down his phone.
"So, Stacy, how do you feel about going on a little trip?"

FreFo/FuFo Heist Planning: Volume #3
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
...
*Maya, Leona and Kuripa sit casually at the counter of the cafe, reading manga and exchanging opinions quietly.
Tumblr media
Wow, this is probably the most passive I’ve seen you Kuripa. At least for a while.
Tumblr media
Oh, hey boss. Is it time?
Tumblr media
Yeah, it’s time. Let’s get going.
Tumblr media
Got it!
Tumblr media
Right!
Tumblr media
Yeah!
*They all put down their books and follow Makoto down the hidden staircase.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Good. We’re all here. We’re ready to start.
Tumblr media
Yeah. You guys are done checking in with Makoto and Akeru’s findings, yeah?
Tumblr media
Yeah...and it turns out...
Tumblr media
What Emilia’s planning is just as bad as we thought it would be.
Tumblr media
If not...even more so.
Tumblr media
*sigh* Great! Just great!
Tumblr media
What’s the sitch?
Tumblr media
Leona? Get the projector.
Tumblr media
A please would be nice.
Tumblr media
...Get the projector please...
*Leona complies and as per usual, Oliver sits at the desk and shows the statistics on his computer.
Tumblr media
It turns out that Emilia’s plan heavily ties back into Kerokuma, the same robot that she used as an umpire for the Freedom Academy Killing Game, and the same model she used to murder Tamashiro and the Police Commissioner.
Tumblr media
Like I said before, she’s praising Kerokuma as counter to Monokuma, and claims it’s programming is a defense mechanism to ensure safety for the public.
Tumblr media
That’s a lie. It’s literally Monokuma again, but with a new coat of paint.
Tumblr media
The only legitimate difference between the two, is that Monokuma is designed to destroy whatever it sees, while Kerokuma is designed for domination and to oppress and kill specific targets.
Tumblr media
Keh...
Tumblr media
So...what does Emilia plan to do with these little frogs?
Tumblr media
It would take a bit to explain, but luckily for us, Komaru and Toko’s daughter happened to swipe a copy of the demonstration video that Emilia showed the board meeting.
Tumblr media
Hehe~
Tumblr media
I’ll play it.
 *Oliver changes the screen. Everyone watches Emilia’s demonstration.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here I thought that Feng couldn’t get any more sick and twisted.
Tumblr media
You’re a fool if you think my mom can’t find a way to get EVEN MORE sick and twisted. She always will.
Tumblr media
To sum up, Feng’s rolling out something called “The Kerokuma Initiative.”
Tumblr media
Unfortunately for us, this video only summarizes the basics of the plan.
Tumblr media
The lack of information we have is worrisome, but what we DO know is that Emilia Feng wishes to “remove the human element” from law enforcement and public security.
Tumblr media
We also know for certain now that she’s partnered with Zetsubou. One of the people who was in that meeting was a prominent member of the Organization, Akira Tsuchiya.
Tumblr media
So we’ve got him to deal with. Say, how dangerous is he in comparison to all the other members of OZ?
Tumblr media
If you want me to be completely honest Maya, he’s probably the MOST dangerous that we know of.
Tumblr media
He’s not kidding. A short while ago, Future Foundation’s strongest facility was on an archipelago called Jabberwock Island.
Tumblr media
Tsuchiya hacked into an FF satellite and caused it to come crashing down onto the island. The impact destroyed the entire thing. Hundreds of tech and weaponry owned by the Foundation were obliterated, important facilities were demolished, and everyone who lived on the island lost their homes.
Tumblr media
Jesus Christ...
Tumblr media
Of all people, it had to be this guy...
Tumblr media
It will be exceedingly difficult for us to complete these heists underneath Tsuchiya’s radar, but we do have an out for him.
Tumblr media
What’s that?
Tumblr media
*sigh* We can take advantage of his recalcitrant personality, and we may just be able to convince him not to rat us out to Organization Zetsubou.
Tumblr media
Wait, you’re gonna ask him nicely not to capture you? How the hell does that work.
Tumblr media
If I may be extremely blunt here...Tsuchiya is a mind-fucker.
Tumblr media
He lives with an innate desire to upset, hurt, and cause despair for literally anyone...even his own allies.
Tumblr media
He and his partner, Narumi Osone, have betrayed the Organization on multiple occasions, to suit their own agenda. They’ve always complied with their instructions and stayed within their lines, but neither of them are above ruining their own group’s plans for their own agenda.
Tumblr media
He literally sounds like a 12 year old playing COD if they were given an actual gun.
Tumblr media
Dude, that’s what I said!
Tumblr media
Bro!
Tumblr media
Not now you two...
Tumblr media
I agree with Byakuya. Toko and I have encountered Narumi Osone before. If Tsuchiya is anything like his partner, getting a read on him is going to be hella tricky.
Tumblr media
I can’t guarantee Byakuya’s plan of convincing him will work, but it’s our last shot should he catch on.
Tumblr media
Going back to the main topic, do you guys know if Zetsubou do other work with Fang Inc?
Tumblr media
After we first found out about collaboration between the two, we did a lot of research. It’s a give and take relationship between the two, with Feng supplying Shirogane with weapons, and Shirogane and her team helping her develop new one’s.
Tumblr media
Like what?
Tumblr media
Nasty shit, like autonomous weapons, targeting algorithms...the like.
Tumblr media
Zetsubou may be our best shot at filling in the blanks on Emilia’s secret project, but on that front, we have good news and bad news.
Tumblr media
Which is what?
Tumblr media
Well, the good news is that we were able to track down which Fang Inc. HQ Emilia lent for Tsuchiya and Zetsubou, so we know where to go for the big heist.
Tumblr media
The BAD news is that the security of said building is notoriously difficult to crack. But we do have a plan.
Tumblr media
We’re all ears.
Tumblr media
Fortunately, the security for the building is so advanced, a solid 30% of the establishments structure is it’s mainframe. Big enough to that people like engineers, and inspectors and the like can fit inside it to constantly check it out.
Tumblr media
If we find a way into the building, we can send one or two people into the mainframe and destroy it’s central components, to take out the security of the building.
Tumblr media
Ok, and what’s the catch?
Tumblr media
The catch is that the system is so big, so vast and so hard to navigate, we aren’t going to be shutting anything down without knowing how it all works.
Tumblr media
We’ll need instructions, and preferably a map too.
Tumblr media
Right. And how do we get that?
Tumblr media
There is a place that could potentially hold what we need. A warehouse down by the docks.
Tumblr media
Fang Inc. recently rented out one of the warehouses, but we haven’t seen anyone go in or out since they did. It seemed like a pointless endeavor, so we investigated it. We do think they’re hiding something there.
Tumblr media
Then that will be the first place we check.
Tumblr media
I have an idea. Why don’t you leave this mission to us?
Tumblr media
You Future Foundation guys wanna take this one?
Tumblr media
I imagine it’s not too dissimilar to fighting Fang Inc, but we’ve had our fair share of dealings with Zetsubou before.
Tumblr media
Besides, I was thinking of going fishing anyway.
Tumblr media
Kyoko, is now really the time?
Tumblr media
Better than doing nothing.
Tumblr media
Alright that settles it. Our next step will have you guys break into warehouse and find the schematics for the building. I’ll shoot you guys the location.
Tumblr media
If anything goes south, send us a call, and we’ll come running to the rescue.
Tumblr media
Then we’ll have our fun breaking into Zetsubou’s base. I like the sound of that!

[A Trip to Paris. Part I.]
Spill upwards and out into the air,
Span across the length of the nation.
Clouds ease by in brilliant white cotton shapes,
Making you wish you were a giant and could touch them,
The way there’s that urge to burst a
Bubble you see flying near you, or that
Instinct to catch a floating feather.
Mind that it’s only just morning – with that
Fresh colour in the sky like waters of remote streams …
And it is quite a stunning thing to be alive
And such moments as these make you feel a
Different person, or rather
You tend to forget the woe that often bothers you.
Is that London! To see the metropolis from such
A height, and the Thames so tiny, the skyscrapers
These little dominoes or like pieces
In a Monopoly game; and you
Imagine or recall how cramped and manic
That city is with its nine million inhabitants
And from this range it’s a mini boardgame.
And then the plane goes onwards to the very
South of the UK and you know the map,
The shape of the country
Having seen it on paper or screens so often, but,
Here you can see that final triangle in
Brazen array, and the sea chasing the ivory cliffs.
In not too long a time we’re over the fields of
Europe.
A special kind of grace … to observe the green and
Brown squares and their fringes of verdigris trees.
The plane descends and goes into the clouds
And there is nothing but rushing mist beyond the windows.
These open up into the stark mechanical buildings
Outside of the city; and when the plane arrives
There’s a thumping satisfying jolt on the runway.
Then the bustle and confusion of the airport with two
Thousand other people mostly all feeling
Befuddled as well.
But you get the train tickets to take you
Unto the citadel
And it really wasn’t that tricky
And the airport workers who help you
Out probably think you ditsy and so they should.
Anyway, let’s bounce.
The announcer on the speakers proclaims
Each name of the station as you prevail;
You always thought that the sound of the
French language was half balletic and half rash.
And yet the English language would be totally
Different if it weren’t for the French.
There’s a stop nearer to your hotel but you
Decide to get off further down in the most-famous
Part of town, as to your introduction to France.
That uber cathedral that springs up in international
Knowledge very oft’: and, oh, there it is – after
Heading up the tunnels of the Metro and out into
The hot windy sunny space.
Siene, there is the Siene, hurtling in camouflage-green
Arteries all bashing together, and the open topped
Boats with the folks on board snapping shots of the
Lofty alabaster buildings lining the river.
Downriver you venture; your hotel not being open
For check-in yet and so you may as well wander.
Plush restaurants each place you glance.
With flowery decorations on their signs; and as
We weave further, the cafes with their maroon canopies
Beholding TABAC, with little pools of men and women
(mostly ladies) smoking on their chairs,
With those short violent gusts of tobacco smoke
That you don’t normally like back home but
You seem to get a kick out of when travelling.
The ladies wear tights and they often have thick eyebrows,
Or differently shaped jaw structures from what you’re used to.
There are policemen standing in pockets with their hands on
Their hips and they talk and laugh in loud volume,
And by the by a group of workie men in orange fluorescence
That you catch a few words of as you pass.
More police chaps whizz by on flashing motorcycles;
And several times there are ambulances that whoosh by
With their sirens screeching neehnaww in manic echoes.
You get to a certain part of the city. That second-most iconic name
(one could argue) of Paris; the bit where the first revolution
Exploded over two hundred and thirty years back.
There’s a monument, nowadays, a long column, alit,
Engraved and inscribed. And, do you know, it’s sealed
Off with fences taller than three men. But somebody
Has climbed over them and graffitied the monument,
With the words, ‘STOP GENOCIDE’ in red spray paint.
You often found the history of the French revolutions scary
And gory, and, well, that’s what they were like.
Guillotines, mass public mayhem, rife public hatred.
It was ironic that they had made this monument as an
Ode to all of that uber destruction; and not passing any judgement:
It only seemed a weird thing to celebrate violence.
But, then, you’d literally just left the UK, where
It was 5th of November, and people were still
Fizzing fireworks four hundred years after similar
Actions in London, which hardly anybody
In the modern age knew anything about:
They were only keen on colour and gunpowder these days.
The hotel is opening soon so let’s head over there.
The trees line the streets either side of the roads
In direct beneficial order and they’re all mature trees
And yet seem to fit exactly well into the urban zeal of
The arena
And this is one of your favourite features about
This continent,
From each sublime city you’ve adventured around.
Beside the trees are clogged missions of bicycles
In lime green and lemony yellow, and you have to be
Wary of the mobile cyclists that pop and zing by you
On the pavements, also stuffed with the fat vermillion
Bins and the pigeons that waddle prettily around your shoes.
You get to the hotel. Up to reception and there are two women
There, maybe a tad younger than you. You’d thought that
It would be more formal but they just give you the keys
And then that’s it and one of them smiles in that way that
Some people do well and other’s cant.
Up to the room where you’ll live for the next three days.
It is on the top floor. And when you get inside, and after
You’ve taken off your bags and coat, you open the window
And look down at the sheer deathworthy drop below you,
The expanse of noisy urbanity underneath;
And if you look to the left you can see a whole quarter mile
Streak of Paris, simmering in the mega moment.

Day 3✨
I woke up a bit later than I wanted to, but I think you were just waking up too. Hopefully I didn’t make you wait. Today is Barbie day and looking around more. Possibly that chicken cafe you mentioned, and I think Jacob is joining us for some stuff today, too. I’m very excited for the chicken cafe and the Barbie movie, and I can’t wait to see what else there is.
Cody joined us too! All four of us have been hanging out so far, and we even got Jacob to agree to watch the Barbie movie with us. It’s been a lot of fun. The arcade was fun and I still don’t know how you cheated in the bowling game, but I apparently have the best luck out of all of us in the random chance games. The boys are fun to hang out with, it’s so fun experiencing stuff you do on daily basis. Roomie outings seem pretty damn fun. Also, your malls are huge. Why on earth are they so big? This whole floor is the theatre?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Movie was really good. Pretty funny, and I’m not used to watching things that don’t require thinking. It was really nice, and I’m glad we all got to do it. Now I’m spoiling Miss Ripley as the Barbie dream house challenge plays. Learned a bit more about Cody too, so that’s cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We ended the day with Jeju Sauna and that was so nice. Food was good, we were chilling, and I got to try out a good handful of rooms with you. If I lived here, I’d definitely need an annual pass, and I’d probably drag you to the sauna like 2-3 times a week. Not that you’d mind lol but yeah it felt so nice to end the night so relaxed. I was able to fall asleep super fast.
Tumblr media
Day 4✨
I’m laying here in the bed as I wait for you to wake up, and I know today is the last day, so I don’t want to start it. I know we’ll still have a good couple of hours together, but I want to stay here with you longer. I don’t want to deal with the feeling that I know is going to sit there all day. That’s why I just keep talking nonstop today, about anything. I can’t just sit in it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now I’m sitting at the gate. These hours flew by too quickly. I don’t want to go. Georgia feels nice, especially with you, and I don’t really care to return to Cali. It doesn’t feel the same. It’s comfortable here. We’re boarding in like 5 minutes and I don’t want to. This weekend went by too quickly. I can’t stand how short of a time we get when we hang out. I want to spend at least a full week with my best friend. It’s not fair we live so far away. Especially now that we had that realization earlier. So much just clicked, he really continues to help you through me. I can’t believe it.
We landed… in Wichita???? Apparently a storm is holding up the entire Denver airport??? So we get to wait here while it clears up. What is up with my travel this trip? The planes decided to hate me??
Okay I’m back in the house. I fell asleep before finishing this, but that’s what happens when I don’t get back until 2am. It feels like something is missing, and I know it’s because I didn’t wake up in the same room as you. If I don’t get to Korea this time around, I feel like moving to Atlanta sounds better than staying here. I wouldn’t want to learn to drive, but everything over there seems so nice.

Be Our Guest - Ch 3 Motive Event
Though they had both maintained a presence in the group chat, and had both shown up for the nightly announcement and motive reveal, you hadn't seen much of Eureka 01 or Erik Azrael in the few hours leading up to the gathering in the flower garden. Considering it was these two in particular though, some people had more reason to be worried about what that could mean than others really bothered.
As 8.40PM rolled on, however, you received a text in the group chat.
[Erik Azrael] On behalf of Eureka and I, we would like to invite all masters, mistresses, and monarchs to the inaugural culture sharing maid cafe session at the Sunroom at 9PM. Come in whatever attire you would like to, there will be food and a party game, with the opportunity to win actual prizes this time. Do be aware that the sisters will likely attend and provide colour commentary about the game.
Oh. That didn't sound particularly ominous at least, but knowing that your hosts might be there and in the business of heckling would probably turn some of you off the idea. Still, others would show up out of loyalty, the chance to win prizes, or the promise of the free food, and at 9PM you collectively headed to the Sunroom to find that the interior had been redecorated from the last time you saw it.
There were more tables and chairs now, with some belonging to the Sunroom and others having been relocated here from storage to turn the place into a rather close approximation of an anime maid cafe, or as best of a recreation one could make do with the materials at hand. The central table featured the return of the charcuterie boards, but this time they had been prepared with separate European, Asian, and North American thematic selections that also seemed to be very meticulously arranged. Next to that is a large spread of cupcakes with icing, and the individual frosting very visible resembled the flags of countries around the globe. You see a lot of red, white, and blue, and some black and yellow around. There was also a small stack of papers which were marked "Game Questionnaire", and some pencils.
And welcoming you inside with greetings of words that sound like "Irasshaimase!" to those who could understand it and "Welcome!" to those who did not were Eureka and Erik, though… what were they wearing?
Instead of a dress, Eureka was suited out in a well fitting butler’s uniform. Her hair was actually for possibly the first time ever seen, brushed and slicked back. Of course, her goggles and slime earrings still remained on her forehead, creating an amusing clash of styles in her look.
And in stark contrast, Erik was dressed in a frilly maid outfit that would not look out of place in Akihabara, even with the longer sleeves and long opera gloves that stretch up to meet the sleeves by the elbows. The dress itself was an explosion of baby blue and lilac, white lace and frills, and paired well enough with his ever-present white mask.
Neither of them looked that uncomfortable with it, though you debated just how comfortable it was for yourself to witness Erik achieve a passing grade in absolute territory.
"Please feel free to take a seat anywhere. If you wish for food, you may serve yourself or ask one of us to bring it to you within reason," Erik continues. "I will explain the rules of the game later when everyone who wishes to come has arrived, but for now you may take a questionnaire to look over. As a general disclaimer however, some of the questions were... contributed by our gracious hosts, in exchange for their generosity with the prizes for participating."
His emphasis on the word "contributed" probably tells you all you need to know about that.
"We also made sure Erik didn't include too many questions from himself. Man really can throw out party ideas. It's terrifying actually. Though if you get any ideas, this whole thing was my idea. I'm getting tired of so little culture in this damn place and it's giving me a sickness. So for my health above all else, please share and all that. Plus have fun!" Her excitement was probably a bit of an alarm bell to some but you could not say Eureka was dragged to make this affair. Whether that was good or bad was up to your own perception.

Tumblr media
EREN YEAGER
won’t wake up until about noon, blankets are all crumpled up, pillows thrown to different places as a result of last night. he would mumble a soft ‘good mornin’ baby’, pulling you closer into his chest while pressing kisses to your cheeks. 10/10 would have morning breath which made you push him away and get up, walking to the restroom before you turn back to him, ‘’ren it’s raining outside!’ you’d see his back heaving as he softly breathed in and out, admiring his rippled muscles that adorned his skin. ‘mmmm what a good day to stay cuddled up, hm? maybe relive what we did last night? didn’t it feel good?’ which definitely brought a creeping grin onto your lips.
ARMIN ARLERT
would wake up at the butt crack of dawn, open the curtains and sit at the couch to just look outside at the rain falling down. when he hears shuffling, he turns to see you wrapped in an oversized throw blanket with a great big smile on your face. ‘good morning baby! i didn’t wanna wake you, but i made you some tea! well, heated up the water. it should still be pretty warm, just grab a mug and sit here when you’re ready?’ his smile was soft, warm and his eyes glistened in the light coming in from outside. once you’re seated next to him he pulls you into his side, resting his head on your shoulder. ‘so there isn’t much we can do outside today. thought maybe we could have worked on the garden a bit, but not with the mud. so maybe we can just stay in. maybe watch some movies or play some board games? maybe take a nap later? does that sound alright to you?’
JEAN KIRSCHTEIN
would prob wake up at like eight or nine am, cuddle you for a bit then move on to breakfast, making something light or just grabbing a protein bar. as soon as he sees you dressed, shoes on and everything he would cock his eyebrow up. ‘what’s up baby? going somewhere?’ a smile on your lips as you approached him with a warm hug, rubbing his back. ‘wanna go to the aquarium? look at the fishies?’ he absolutely chuckles at your remark, nodding his head and pulling you back into his chest, swaying the both of you side to side for a moment. ‘we can go look at the fishies and then if it’s not raining too hard after that.. how’s that outdoor cafe sound?’ biting his lip waiting for your reply his hands would rub your sides, not tickling you but just lovingly. ugh he could get butterflies at how excited you would get.
LEVI ACKERMAN
also wakes up at about six am, already drinking his first cup of tea when you walk into the kitchen. he would be leaning against he kitchen counter, taking sips every now and then while looking at the rain dripping off the drain pipe. ‘morning levi,’ you’d say, hugging him from behind. he sets down his cup, turning around in your arms and wrapping his arms around your shoulders, holding you close. ‘and the best of mornings to you my love.’ he’d kiss your forehead. you stood there for a few minutes. enjoying his warmth and sound of the rain gently, silently hitting the roof. ‘i’ve got nothing planned for today, so if you have any ideas..’ he starts but you stop him. ‘can we go for a walk? it’s not too bad outside.’ he blinks and turns his head to peer outside. ‘we can and will my love. just make sure to bundle up more, i don’t want you getting a cold.’ he says again, planting a sweet kiss on your forehead. would he lightly smack your ass when you walk away? yep.

The stars are our safe haven
Lena Luthor x Reader
Summary - Lena and Reader for the first time in real life.
Tumblr media
Lena is in her office and it's been a long day. She has been dealing with a lot and she is feeling stressed out. She looks at the time and it's late, Lena grabbed the Obsidian North's contact lenses and puts them on. She looks around and she is in the same location... She is at a cabin by the lake and she starts to set the chessboard.
“You are on time,” Lena said.
“It's rude to be late for our game. Should we start?” You said.
You and Lena never met in real life, you met her through Obsidian North online. You never played chess in real life because it didn't interest you. But when you met Lena that changed. She always beat you in chess and she would explain how she won.
Lena never saw your face because you have a mask on, she doesn't. Every night and on the weekends, you meet up with Lena to play chess and just talk. You never once took off the mask and she doesn't pressure you but she is curious how you look.
“You weren't online for long yesterday. Is everything okay?” You said.
Lena sighed “Too much is going on. I needed a break and I came here”
“We don't have to play chess if you don't want to. I know you would be scared to play against me” You said.
You made Lena laugh and she rolled her eyes at you.
“Y/n, you do know I beat you 59 times and you haven't won one game,” Lena said.
“That's not how I remember,” You said.
She laughed again.
“Let's start the game, y/n,” Lena said.
You only told Lena your first name. She does know that you know about her family drama, but you never once asked for a favor or blackmailed her. You and Lena feel comfortable around each other and have deep conversations with each other. Lena hasn't opened up to anyone in a long time.
You and Lena start to play chess, and she won the first game. Lena does know about your family and your life. Lena has developed feelings for you, she does wonder now and then if you would feel the same way as her. Sometimes she would doubt that you won't like her because of family and other things.
“How’s your work,” Lena said.
“They cut my hours... So I'm learning less and my rent went up” You said.
“Oh... That must be rough” Lena said.
“It’s life. It was my mom’s birthday so we bought her gifts and a cake” You said.
“Last time, I celebrated my birthday was when I six years ago when my mother passed away. The Luthors are not really into celebrating together as a family unless it's an evil plan” Lena said.
Lena won the game the second time. You and Lena play again, but this time you set the board.
“Wow, now that's rough,” You said.
“We can play one more game. So... Um dating anyone?” Lena said.
“Nope. I was interested in someone but it wouldn't have worked out. You?” You said.
You look at the board and you think about what to do.
“I am interested in someone... But I don't know” Lena said.
Lena beat you in three moves.
“How the hell did you win?” You asked.
She laughed and she starts to explain.
---
A couple of days later...
You had a rough day and you put on the contact lenses. Lena is there, she can sense something is wrong by the look of your eyes. Lena hugged you and waited for you to say something. You like Lena’s arms around you, you felt safe.
“I won't pressure you to talk about it. When you want to talk about it, I will listen” Lena said.
“Thanks. I'm not ready to talk about it but yeah, I had a rough day” You said.
She kissed your head, she isn't sure why she did it. But she thought you would get angry about it but you didn't. After the hug, you and Lena talked about something else.
“Y/n, I was thinking maybe we can meet in real life?” Lena asked.
“Are you serious?” You asked.
“Yes. But only if you want to, I don't want to force you into something that you're uncomfortable with” Lena said.
“Can I think about it?” You asked.
“Of course,” Lena said.
You nod and she gave you a small smile.
✬ ✫ ✯ ✫
You have been thinking about what Lena said about meeting in person. You start to get ready for work, put on your headphones, and left your apartment. You start to listen to a podcast on how to get better at chess. You have strong feelings for Lena, but you doubt yourself and think you're not good enough for her. You always feel comfortable around her. You are having a hard time, thinking about meeting Lena in person.
You put on the contact lenses, she smiled. You asked Lena about her day and she asked about yours.
“Lena, I think we should meet in person,” You said.
“Are you sure, y/n?” Lena asked.
“Yeah, I'm sure. We have been friends online for almost five years. Maybe... We can meet somewhere in public at a cafe shop?” You said.
Lena smiled “yes, we can meet at a cafe shop. How I will know it's you?”
“I will wear a plain blue shirt,” You said.
“Okay, we will meet at The Jolly Goat Coffee Bar, tomorrow at four?” Lena said.
“Sounds good to me, Lena,” You said.
You and Lena smiled at each other.
---
The next day...
You are at the cafe shop. You're freaking out and Lena hasn't arrived yet. You keep looking at the time on your phone over and over. A few minutes later, you felt a hand on your shoulder and you looked up.
“Y/n?” Lena asked.
“Hey L-Lena,” You said.
She sits across from you. She is feeling nervous and she bites her bottom lip.
“Sorry, I'm late the meeting went longer than expected,” Lena said.
“It's okay. I'm feeling really nervous right now” You said.
“Me too. But I'm happy that you wanted to meet and I got to see how you look” Lena said.
“I knew eventually the mystery wasn't going to last long,” You said nervously.
She nods.
“Should we order? My treat” Lena said.
“Yeah, let's order,” You said.
You and Lena are starting to feel less nervous. You love her green eyes and she can't stop smiling at you. You and Lena stayed at the cafe shop for a while, then left and walked around the park for a little bit.
✬ ✫ ✯ ✫
Since that day, you and Lena did meet up in person now and then. But other days, you meet her online. You and Lena still play chess together. Tonight changed everything
“Wow, y/n I can't believe you finally won a game,” Lena said.
You have a big smile on your face.
“To be honest, I have been reading books about chess, listening to podcasts about chess and I wanted to impress you,” You said.
“You wanted to impress me by getting better at chess? That is cute. Well, I'm glad I lost to you” Lena said.
“We will keep playing chess?” You asked.
“We would still keep playing, y/n,” Lena said.
You smiled but the next game you lost again. But you are still feeling hyped about the game you won.
----
Today is Lena’s birthday and you wanted to do something special for her. For her, it's just another normal day and she only told you when is her birthday. You bought a small cake, a cute gift and you surprise Lena at her loft.
You have been to her loft before, she gave you the code to the keypad. She didn't know that you were coming over but she is happy to see you. You follow Lena to the kitchen, she is drinking wine and working on her laptop.
“Close your eyes, Lena,” You said.
“Okay,” Lena said.
Lena closed her eyes. You take out the cake, place the candles then light the candles with a lighter.
“Okay, Lena open your eyes,” You said.
Lena is surprised by what you just did for her.
“Oh y/n, you shouldn't have,” Lena said.
“Lena happy birthday. I wanted to surprise you, hope you like it” You said.
“I love it. Nobody has ever done this for me” Lena said.
Lena hugged you tight and she can't stop smiling. She stares into your eyes and you feel her lips on yours. You kiss her back, she pulls away and she apologized.
“Y/n, I am so sorry I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. Y/n, I like you as more than a friend... I have liked you for a while and if you don't feel the same, I hope we can be friends I don't want you out of my life” Lena said.
You are speechless about what she said. You try to say something but you just stutter.
“Lena... Lena, I do feel the same way I like you so much. But I feel I'm not good enough for you. I have a dead-end job, I can't take you to a expensive restaurant and I still live with my family... I can't afford to live on my own and I have two jobs” You said.
She gently grabs your hand.
“Y/n, I like you for who you are. What you did right now, I love it that you surprised me with a cake for my birthday. It doesn't bother me that you live with your family” Lena said.
You gave her a small smile.
“You should blow out the candles before the wax gets on the cake,” You said.
Lena kissed your cheek and she blows out the candles. You and Lena sit on the couch and eat cake together.
“Do you want to make it official?” Lena asked.
“Yes, I want to make it official. Like the cake?” You said.
She nods “its really good cake. Thank you, y/n”
You stay the night, later you and Lena cuddle in bed and watch Disney movies. During the movie, you and Lena start to make out but it doesn't go further. You feel her hand under your shirt on your lower back, she smiled and she keeps kissing you.

Getting To Know Them || Slasher x Reader Bf/Gf Scenarios Pt 2
Jason Voorhees
Tumblr media
When you woke, you were lying in a dim living room. The windows were boarded with thick, rotting oak planks and the doors were bolted shut. The only light left to illuminate the room was a small lamp on the old, rustic coffee table in front of you. Beneath you was a somewhat scratchy couch, clearly taken off of someone's front line with a paper labeled "free to take" on it, or from some dump. However, you were thankful that it at least wasn't the creaky wooden floor instead. You scratched at the rope around your wrists, loosened from being wriggled around and messed with.
You sat up and allowed your vision to re-adjust, and saw the same man in flannel and ski-mask in an arm-chair on the other side of the coffee table. He didn't seem to notice your awakening, or he at least didn't acknowledge it. He was reading a book with a maroon cover, and you couldn't make out the small copper-shaded title. You studied his movement. He was calm and showed little emotion in his body language, simply reading in peace.
In a split second, you decided to break the peace and silence. "Who are you?" The man put down the book in his lap, but only looked up at you for a moment, silent. You could see him think, then make a few hand gestures. You came to the realization that it was ASL, but you never really learned the language, despite your interest in it. You saw him take a deep breath and get up, grabbing a pen and a notebook off a table to the side. He slid the items onto the coffee table before you and slowly unbound your wrists. You wrote your question out again, "Who are you?" and slid it around for him to see. He read it, and wrote quickly, in slightly messy handwriting, "Jason. any more questions?" and slid the items back.
From here, you two went on for hours, listing out questions on the notebook and answering them for each other. You filled out pages and pages, ranging from basic questions to things like "what was your childhood like?" Certain things like that, he would pause and then write that he didn't want to talk about it. Through the night or day (due to the lack of natural light, it was hard to tell,) this game went on.
Michael Myers
Tumblr media
Though you tried your best and struggled and squirmed, the man who had taken you still had gotten you tied to a chair; where you sat with a belt tying your wrists to the wooden beams, thankfully with a cushion underneath your rear. You shut your eyes for a second and groaned, throwing your head back. You always thought of yourself as strong and independent, a fighter who didn't need help from anyone. Alas, this was one ass you couldn't kick, and you hated yourself for it.
Across the kitchen, the bright lights shined on the tiled floor, and a tea kettle whistled ceaselessly. The sound of running water stopped as the man who had taken you walked from the bathroom and into the kitchen. The man dried his hands on his pants and took the kettle off the burner, shutting the flames off. You observed him take two random mugs from the cabinets above, and place them on the white countertop. He carefully poured the tea into the two cups, and a light herbal smell filled the air. After a moment, you recognized the smell of hibiscus tea. This was a familiar smell, something your aunt made every morning when you spent the night at her house in the summers between school years.
The man walked over and brought the two cups with him. A low, slightly muffled, silky voice came from behind the mask as he slid a mug across the table to you. "Careful, it's scolding." The tall, built man walked across and unbuckled one of your arms from the chair for you to pick up the mug with. "Drink." He said, before taking a seat before you. This is when he slid the mask off, to reveal a face beneath that you never would have expected. Dark brown, shaggy, messy, wavy hair fell over his forehead, and he blew it out of his grey eyes. His face was scarred and his lips were chapped, but it somehow wasn't unappealing or revolting.
"What's your name? Who the fuck are you?" You asked, leaning as far as you could with your restraints still intact. The man pushed his hair back and sighed heavily, sipping the near boiling tea. "Michael. 24. Libra." He said in a monotone voice. You rolled your eyes. "This is an introduction to your victim, not The Dating Game." You told him harshly. "Well, is there something specific you wanna know? It's not like your giving me anything to go off of, sugar cube." 'Michael' replied with the same energy in return. "Fine. I'm (Y/N). What else is there to say?"
Carrie White
Tumblr media
Like the pale girl suggested, Carrie if you remembered correctly, you came back to the public library next Sunday, around noon. You had finished the book you had most recently checked out, so you had to return it anyways. Walking down the pavement, you saw here in a light sundress, walking up the few steps and into the library. You ran to catch up and followed her, careful not to startle the girl. As soon as you got inside, you carried yourself to just behind her, and tapped on her shoulder.
The girl turned around, and a look of confusion appeared on her features. "(Y/N). We met here last week? I suggested you check out Narnia." You reminded her, an eager smile painted on your face. A spark formed in her eyes, and she returned your smile. "Oh! Yes, yes, I remember. I'm sorry, my mind is awfully clouded lately." You assured her that it was alright, and you two went along.
The two of you walked down the aisles of bookshelves, and she looked for something new to try out. Maybe she would check out a cook-book and try a new recipe, or read up on WW1. Although, you DID notice that she avoided the religious aisle. However, you didn't comment on this, out of respect. You two checked out a few books, and on the paved outdoor steps, you stopped her. "Would you like to go for coffee or tea? Even a pastry? There's a little shop down the street, I'll buy. I'd just like to talk a bit.
Carrie obliged happily, and the two of you took your books and walked down to the small cafe. It had a dim, rustic theme, and brought peace to anyone who entered it's walls. There was a faint vanilla sent in the air, welcoming you two. For about an hour, Carrie sat down with you and talked about your life, your week, basic things. It was nice to get to know her. She seemed kind, and gentle. Everything about her was graceful, from the way she sipped her latte to the way she tucked her strawberry blonde hair behind her ear. As you two finished up your chats, you grabbed your things and greeted each other farewell, agreeing to meet again next week.
Jennifer Check
Tumblr media
The pair of you had become half-decent lab partners over the last few weeks, but she didn't seem to be doing well with the subject. As a result, you decided that you would volunteer to tutor her in the subject after school. So, there you were, on your way to her house after school to hang out and help her study up on the subject and with the homework. It was a cloudy day, and you could tell that a storm was brewing in those clouds above your head. Because of this, you decided to walk a bit faster to avoid being soaked.
As you arrived at Jennifer's house, you knocked gently on the door. When you received no answer, you hesitantly knocked harder. Very suddenly, a slightly older woman answered the door, assumingly Jennifer's mom. The woman looked you up and down, then quickly turned to yell over her shoulder, "Jenny! Your new friend is here!" She then quickly invited you in and brought you a small tray of white-chocolate macadamia nut cookies, offering you to take one or two ((If you have an allergy to nuts, then M&M cookies.)) "I made these for you two while you were studying. There's also sodas in the fridge in case you need a drink." Jennifer's mom said joyfully, before scooping the strap of a purse onto her shoulder. "I'll be off now, I have a job interview to get to. Jen's room is upstairs, first door on the right. Have fun you two!" She informed you before heading out the door.
You walked up the stairs until you found an oak door, and knocked before coming in. "Uh, hi, it's (Y/N), I'm here to help you study..?" You said as you slowly walked in and shut the door behind you. Jennifer was standing, looking in the mirror and smearing concealer under her eyes. She sighed and looked over to you. "Sit on the bed. You know, I was gonna gut you like a fish and drink your blood like a Slurpee, but my mom seems to like you, and I don't think you're too bad. Shame, would have been a great opportunity." She said nonchalantly. As she turned to you, you saw that her face was pale and broken out in acne.
Your heart skipped a beat and the color drained from your face. "I'm sorry, w-what...?" You tried to gulp down the fear in your words. "I'm a succubus, idiot. Don't think that I didn't notice you staring at the blood on my shoes the first day we met. I feed on people's bodies and sexual energy so I can feel good and look good. But I've decided you're worth keeping around, so I'll save that for the next chump. So, shall we get to know each other?" She said calmly as she sat down beside you on the bed.
Billy Loomis
Tumblr media
You were home alone yet again, but this time it was mid day. You were watching horror movies out of boredom on your couch, when you got a call. You hesitantly answered, to hear a familiar voice on the other side of the phone. "I'm here, come let me in." You carried the phone with you. You figured one of your friends had stopped by to say hi, and their voice just sounded messed up due to shitty reception. You went to your front door, and looked through the peephole to see someone in a shitty costume, probably from Walmart, as it was October, and stores were starting to sell Halloween costumes and decorations. You hung up the phone and stuck it in your pocket, opening the door slightly with the chain lock still intact.
"Cut it out, prankster. That's not a very creepy costume. Ooo! I'm so scared!! Listen, I've seen the original Japanese film The Ring a million times, I'm not too scared of much." You heard the person sigh and push the door forward aggressively, breaking the lock. You jumped back in shock. "Hey! You're paying for that, asshole!" You yelled only for a quick response. "No, I don't think I will, beautiful. The man said, taking off his mask. To your shock, it was someone that you went to school with, Billy Loomis. You remember him graduating just the year before you, and were a bit shocked at his sudden appearance. You two had talked a bit, and you could consider yourselves acquaintances, but never really close friends.
Billy took a step forward, and in turn, you took one back. He put his hands up, showing he had no weapons in his hands. "Look, I'm not gonna hurt, that's not what I came to do. I just want to...get to know you. Look, you can pat me down, if you really feel the need. I don't have any weapons on me." You lowered your defenses a bit, but still kept them up. "Why would you want to know me so bad?" You asked hesitantly. "Well, I looked through your window and realized I'd found you again. And I wanted to get to know the pretty (girl/boy/person) I used to look at in the hallways every day." He said in a smooth tone. And that's where your night started.
Thomas Hewitt
Tumblr media
It was a lovely Texas summer day. A warm breeze carried through the semi-tall grass in the fields, and the smell of fresh bread filled the small wooden house. On this fine afternoon, you happened to be listening to some old music, from the 50s-60s, and baking. When you least expected it, you heard a loud knock on the door. You figured it might have been one of your new neighbors looking to get to know you, or ask to borrow something. You strolled to the door and opened it, to see a rather large man in a butcher's apron, curly dark hair, and a rather scarred face on the other side. Though he had somewhat of a threatening aura, you knew that there was more behind his appearance.
You saw him open his mouth, but then stop and think for a moment. He hesitantly put his hands up and made a few broken and hand signals. You realized quickly that it was sign language, as you had an uncle growing up that happened to be deaf, so you learned it so that you two could talk. "I'm not deaf, I just don't like to speak." You watched him sign apprehensively, and responded allowed. "That's okay, hun. What can I do for you?" You asked, and he thought for a moment. "Do you have some salt I can use? Papa shot a..." He stopped for a moment, then looked back up to meet your eyes. "Papa shot a deer, and we ran out of salt to dry out the hide and season the meat." He asked, and you replied. "Of course! Come right in, I keep a few bags in the cupboard, I have a half-full one you can take home." You told him as you allowed him to come in and shut the door behind him.
Your bread sat warm in the window-sill, cooling down. As you handed him the salt, he pointed over to it. "Oh, do you want a piece?" He nodded aggressively, and you smiled. You grabbed the metal baking sheet and put it on the counter, slicing a few pieces. "Here, you can have more than one. I make it all the time, and it's just me here to eat it anyways." You told him. "Would you like to sit down and chat for a moment? I can make you tea or coffee too if you like? You can tell me about yourself. That is, if you don't have to be home right quick." The man nodded again, and set the salt down on the counter. "My name's Thomas. I'd like some...Peppermint tea, if you have it." The man signed to you, his guard down as he clearly felt welcomed in the household. "Okay, Thomas, right on it." You smiled warmly and handed him a thick slice of warm bread with butter and mulberry jam smeared over the top. "Take a seat, dear."

The Laptop With the Flames Sticker
Tumblr media
Pairing: Matthew Tkachuk x reader
Type: Fluff
Warnings: Swearing
Word Count: 1k
Summary: Matty had a routine. Every morning he stopped by a cafe in Calgary to get a coffee and some type of pastry. He was a regular, he always recognized people and they always recognized him. Until one morning he saw a college student sitting at a table by the window typing away at a laptop. It was her that caught his eye first, but when he saw the Flames sticker on the back of her computer, he had to talk to her.
Request: Hi babyyyyy! How are you? Do you think you could write something for Matthew T. where he is with shy girl? Like she is not typical Puck Bunny.. but normal girl he met in cafe perhaps? She is not skinny nor fat, not perfect skin? Y’know? Just not a model haha! No worries if not tho.. have a nice day <3 (from anon)
~~~~
Matty wasn’t fully awake yet as he walked down the street to the cafe he always went to. As he walked up, someone caught his eye. She was sitting at a table by the window, text books spread out on the table top and fingers frantically tapping away at the keyboard. He smiled to himself. She was cute. She seemed... normal. Like she was someone he could talk to and have a natural discussion with.
She didn’t even look up when the little bell on the door jingled as he walked in. Matty decided not to bother and kept to himself, though his eye was drawn to the Flames sticker in the upper righthand corner of her laptop. He ordered his coffee and pastry and went on his way. She didn’t leave his mind, though, and all through practice and after he was thinking about her.
The next day was game day. As Matty walked up to the cafe again, the same girl was sitting in the same spot. His fingers grasped the note paper clipped to the tickets in his jacket pocket as he walked in. Matty passed her table on his way to the line.
He casually dropped the note and tickets on one of your books. You didn’t even notice until he was long gone and you were packing up from your study session.
“What the hell?” you whispered to yourself, picking up the pieces of paper.
Hi, we haven’t met before but I noticed you the other day and I wanted to talk to you but you seemed really busy so I left you alone. I saw the Flames sticker on your laptop and thought you might like to come to the game tonight. There are two tickets attached to this note. I hope to see you there!
- Matthew Tkachuk
P.S. If you don’t believe me, ask one of the baristas. I come in here all the time
You were speechless. When you had glanced up yesterday and saw Matthew Tkachuk leaving the cafe and walking down the street you thought you were going crazy. Now you know you weren't.
The game was at one o’clock. You hoped your roommate wasn’t busy as you practically sprinted back to your dorm down the street from the cafe.
“Are you doing anything this afternoon?” you asked, completely out of breath and leaning against the wall.
“Did you run all the way here?” your roommate asked, eyebrows raised in surprise.
“Answer my question,” you panted, downing a glass of water.
“Uh, no, nothing, why?” she asked, confused.
“Matthew Tkachuk just gave me two tickets to the game,” you smiled, tossing her the note and tickets. When opened her mouth to protest, you cut her off. “I saw him at the cafe yesterday and this morning as he was leaving. It’s legit.”
“Alright, let’s go.”
“Are you fucking insane?” Johnny exclaimed, looking at Matty with an incredulous look as they taped their sticks in preparation for warmup. “Let me get this straight, you invited a random college student you saw at a cafe to the game?”
“That is exactly what I did,” Matty responded, smirking to himself.
“She’s gonna think you’re a creeper,” Sam laughed, tossing his tape back up into his locker.
“Alright, if she shows up you both owe me fifty bucks,” Matty said.
“I’ll take that bet,” Johnny nodded, looking over to Sam.
“Yeah, I’m in,” Sam agreed.
You settled into your seats with your roommate as the Flames came out for warmups. The tickets Matty had given you were at the Islanders’ end of the ice, so you were unable to see him before the game started.
“I don’t see your girl, Matty,” Sam said condescendingly as he leaned against the boards.
“She’s at the other end of the ice, dipshit,” Matty chirped back. “Gotta give her a good view for when I score my first hat trick on the season.”
“Easy there, though guy,” Johnny laughed as he skated over. “Don’t let your head get too big, your helmet won’t fit.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Matty shrugged them off, gently tapping his stick against the ice.
“Are you sure this was a good idea?” your roommate asked for the seventeenth time.
“Positive,” you replied yet again. “Look, there he is.”
Matty lined up for the opening face off, completely focused on his task at hand. Three minutes into the game, he put the puck into the upper righthand corner. His eye instantly found yours before his teammates slammed him against the boards in front of you in celebration.
“She’s here,” Matty said, out of breath as she sat down on the bench. “I expect to see those fifty bucks from both of you after the game.”
The third period rolled around and saw the Flames rout the Islanders 5-2, with Matty scoring his predicted hat trick. He made eye contact and pointed at you with every goal he scored.
A security guard escorted you through the tunnels of the stadium, your roommate having gone back to your dorm.
“I should thank you,” Matty smiled as he walked up to you, shoving two fifty dollar bills into his pocket. “You won me a hundred bucks.”
“I should be the one thanking you,” you replied, accepting his tentative hug.
“Did you have fun?” he asked, his brow furrowing.
“Best Flames game I’ve ever been to,” you answered.
“You know, I don’t know your name.”
“Y/N,” you replied, unable to push the smile from your face.
“Y/N,” Matty repeated. He loved the way it sounded as it rolled off his lips. “Can I take you for coffee, Y/N?”
So, I have a weird request: Mei, Jin and Yin with 28 and 50. I fell victim of my own au and now I just want these three to be friends and cause mayhem.
Tumblr media
Ok, you both sent me these SO CLOSE TOGETHER BY CHANCE that I had to combine them. This is the most prompts I have shoved into one fill and I consider this an achievement.
You call this luck? No, this is all skill./That cute act is all just a lie./I was not expecting that to work as well as it did./Ok, who gave out my number? I have 12 missed calls, 4 voicemails, and 75 unread texts!/No, listen, hear me out. All we need is some really good disguises.
“Ok, who gave out my number?” Mei asked as she slammed the door to Jin and Yin’s workshop open with a harsh kick that sent it slamming into the wall, a scowl on her face. She wasn’t particularly angry, just annoyed, but they didn’t have to know that yet. “I have 12 missed calls, 4 voicemails, and 75 unread texts! I had to change my number because before I cleared the first set of notifications I had over 80 each!”
“How do you know it was us?” Jin asked defensively from his spot sitting on the nearest table, and Mei allowed her face to fall into an deadpan expression, raising just one eyebrow.”... ok, fair, it was Yin.”
“Hey!” Yin yelped as he rolled out on a skateboard from... whatever in the world it was he was working on. “Why are you calling me out like this? I thought you were my brother!”
Mei watched at the two got up from where they sat, getting in each other’s faces and arguing about “brotherly betrayal” and if she was being honest Mei almost thought that this would have been nearly enough to make up for her needing to change her number for the first time in years. Almost. It was when Jin yelled “That cute act is all just a lie!” and Yin gasped in offense that she decided she had enough amusement for the moment and whistled as loud as she could to get the twin’s attention.
“Alright gentlemen, may I ask why my phone number was leaked in the first place?” Mei asked slowly, gaze firmly centered on Yin.
“... In my defense, I didn’t post it publicly,” Yin said as he held up his hands in surrender. “I only gave it to one person and they said they were a friend of yours because I needed some tech they had and they said it was payment for the favor!”
“One person made 82 calls?” Jin asked with a look of disbelief and horror on his face. “Who has time for 82 phone calls?”
“They’re all spam bot calls and texts, it isn- Wait, go back a second,” Mei held up a hand, gesturing for Yin to speak again. “Who said they were a friend of mine?”
“A streamer guy, Bo-something?”
“BoFullStrike,” Mei said with venom lacing her words, a low growl sounding in the depths of her check. “Of course it was Bo, he’s been trying to get back at me for beating him at his best game for like 2 weeks now since our crossover stream like the sore loser that he is. He’s been trying to spam my email this entire time, apparently spam is how he gets revenge.”
“Is his name actually Bo?” Yin asked in curiosity.
“No, it’s just his screen name, but lets not get distracted!” Mei smirked, walking up to the twins and putting her arms around their necks in a half hug each. “To make up for ruining my phone, and because you like me, you two are going to help me get back at him so he will just leave me in peace.”
“Uh,” Jin and Yin looked at each other, then back at Mei and Jin continued. “Is, you know... Macaque gonna have to know about this? We’re already kind of in deep water with him as it is and-”
“No, listen, hear me out. All we need is some really good disguises.”
“And why am I being pulled into this?” Jin asked with a sigh.
“You two are a package deal.”
~
Mei had to admit, when the demon bros had someone who knew how to make a plan for them? They were scary good at what they could do. All three of their technological knowledge combined was a terrifying force to behold, and Mei could see they weren’t too shabby with designing things they weren’t tech itself either. The three of them, both Jin and Yin in their human forms, were disguised so well that Mei almost didn’t recognize her own reflection in her wig and make up. It was perfect!
What was also perfect was the absolute chaos erupting in the internet cafe they had tracked BoFullStrike down to. He really should take internet security a little more seriously, it was far too easy...
Just as it was far too easy to remote connect to the computer he was using to practice his gaming in on an alt account and completely mess with all of his controls and download some nasty nasty viruses onto it from the other side of the building. They weren’t anything too hard for the cafe to get rid of, and it wasn’t anything that would affect the entire computer network, but it was just enough to make the cafe owner pissed off enough to kick him out (that would have made her feel bad if she didn’t know Bo also lived on his own in his own house on his parent’s dime and only came here so no one would track his ISP to alt accounts, and that there were 20 other such cafes in the city for him to move to).
Now the other streamer was angrily stomping out of the building passing by the chaos trio and would have not even been aware of their involvement had Jin and Yin not yanked him half a foot into the (admittedly brightly lit and easy to see into) alleyway beside the cafe.
“Hey, BO,” Mei said with a smirk as the twins held an arm each for extra security. Like bouncers. Or very strange bodyguards she didn’t actually need. “Still angry I beat you in front of all your followers huh?”
“You!” Bo, or whatever his actual name was Mei didn’t care enough about this to remember that, said after a moment of confusion when he recognized her voice. “You humiliated me on purpose! Just like last time!”
“This time yes, that time? No, you humiliated yourself behind the scenes when you started trying to sign me up for car insurance scams,” Mei said with a sigh. “Look, guy, just leave me alone. No one except you cares that I beat you in a few matches at a game I was already on the leader boards for.”
“You just got lucky!” He scoffed, pulling his arms and tensing with a fearful look as he realized he couldn’t move.
“You call this luck? No, this is all skill,” Mei said with a smirk as she held up her phone and Bo’s face went white as a sheet at the information scrolling on the screen. “Yeah, you should probably invest in something. Like a firewall. A VPN. Literally anything. This was not hard to find at all. Dude, I kinda feel bad that you’re so bad at tech security so I am doing you a favor, just leave me alone and I will literally give you a high tech security system and never speak to you again.”
“Or... what?” Bo said with a shake. “You’ll post all my info online?”
“Hell no!” Mei winced with a disgusted look, shaking her head. “You’re being an asshole, but I’m not evil! I was just gonna sign you up for spam too until you took my offer. Ew.”
“Oh... well... I guess... sure?” The man looked mostly confused more than anything else, shrugging as much as he could before Jin and Yin let him go. “That’s... really it?”
“Yeah, dude, I didn’t want that much revenge just a little bit. Like I said, stop signing me up for spam and I will never speak to you ever again.”
“... OK,” Bo said, and yelped as Mei tossed some kind of USB drive at him. “Uh-”
“You have everything you need in there,” Mei said with a shrug, waving him off.
Bo shrugged again, still looking incredibly confused as he ran off, muttering something like “ok maybe that was kind of badass I guess” under his breathe.
“I was not expecting that to work as well as it did,” Mei said with a laugh, holding up both hands to either side. “Good job, my dudes, you are off the hook.”
Both twin’s palms met her own in very satisfying high fives, and all three thought they should totally team up for stuff like this more often.
(The next day BoFullStrike sent her an actual email with a proper apology.)
Warnings: canon typical violence, angst, major character death, no happy ending
Word Count: 1,859
A/N: This is my first fic ever! I'm actually really proud of how it turned out and I hope you like it and stick around for more! :)
You had never seen your partner.
It was just protocol. The nature of the missions you two worked, it was safer if you couldn't identify each other.
You had been near her, of course, and heard her voice whispering to you in the train station or over the phone. But you had never once laid eyes on her.
You were an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, and one of Natasha Romanoff's most important and most trusted contacts.
Over the years of working together, you two had become the closest of friends. Fury had no idea that you two were that close, but what Fury didn't know couldn’t hurt him. If it was any pair of spies operating at your level, a close personal relationship would be a problem, but you two were the best in your field, and more than capable of handling it.
It had taken a while for the two of you to talk, really talk, the extent of your interactions being whispered conversations back to back on a set of park benches, or a flash drive set subtly on a table next to an untouched coffee, but one day, probably the best day of your life, you had asked the question and she had answered.
Every phone call with her, you would ask the same question before hanging up.
"How are you doing, Nat?"
And every time, without fail, you would receive the same, gruff, "Fine."
She clearly wasn't one to talk about the touchy-feely stuff. Which was fine by you, you didn't open up often either, most spies you met didn't, but you still gave her that chance, every time.
Until one day, much to your surprise, she responded, "Not great."
It wasn't much, but it was something different. It was an invitation to keep talking. Containing your excitement at the change in conversation, you kept your voice steady. "What's the matter?"
She sighed, the sound crackling faintly over her phone's mic. "I'm back in a place I haven't been in for a long time."
You had no way of knowing exactly where she was- S.H.I.E.L.D took plenty of precautions to be sure of that- but you could make an educated guess. The information you had passed along to her a few days ago had been about a weapons smuggler currently in Russia.
"You know what?" she said, "I don't really want to talk about it. I'll check in with you when the mission's over."
"Natasha, wait!"
Silence from the other line, but she was still on the call.
"Let's just talk. About something else. I think we could both use some casual conversation."
She let out a small chuckle. "Sure, why not? This is a burner phone and I've got time to kill."
It was a bit awkward at first, but you soon fell into a natural conversation. That night you talked about many things. Small things, like favorite foods, and big things, like plans for the future if you ever left S.H.I.E.L.D.
That's when you learned that she couldn't see color.
You weren’t surprised. You couldn’t see color either. It wasn't uncommon for S.H.I.E.L.D to hire people who hadn't met their soulmate. It was a lonely job, and soulmates were a liability.
It was a small moment in your conversation and you continued talking about all sorts of other things late into the night.
Unfortunately, though, all good things must come to an end.
"I'll have to talk to you later, Nat. I've got a big job tomorrow I need to get ready for."
"Goodnight Y/N, and thank you."
"Let's make a habit out of this, okay?"
"Gotcha, Agent."
You smiled and hung up the phone.
From then on, you always lingered on calls. Never quite as long as that first call, but the two of you were quickly becoming each other's closest confidantes.
Soon you began talking in real life, too. You never turned to face each other, never broke that boundary, but you relished the feeling of her shoulder brushing yours as you watched the pigeons in a park.
You called each other before and after every job to check in on each other. You had drop spots outside of Fury's radar where you left each other small gifts. Your life was lonely and cold, but she gave your days warmth and light.
-----
Around a year and a half after your initial conversation, you met in a smokey French cafe, sitting in nearby booths.
“Nat.”
“Agent.”
“Whaddya got for me?”
“No intel on the current mission, but I’ve got news from HQ. Fury’s pulling us from the field.”
You felt your blood run cold. Spywork was dangerous, but it was what you knew. You were good at it. If you were fired, you would be thrown into suburbia with a fake name and fake past- maybe even fake memories, if Fury deemed you untrustworthy- and you would live the rest of your days out in the rat race.
And worst of all, you would live out the rest of your days without Natasha.
“What did we do?” you asked her, putting a massive amount of concentration into keeping your voice from betraying your panic.
“We did good,” she said, a smile in her voice. “We’ve been selected for an elite team to protect the entire world. You and I, Barton, and if we can convince them, Tony Stark, Steve Rodgers, and Bruce Banner.”
“That gamma radiation guy? Do we even know where he disappeared to?”
“We never lost tabs on him.”
You let out a sigh of relief. “You scared me, Nat. I thought Fury had benched us.”
She laughed. “No, we’re still in the game for now. And when Fury gives the word, we’ll head back to New York and hang out like normal people for a change.”
“That would be nice,” you said, your voice quiet.
You heard her move around a bit, then swear. “I have to run," she said. "If I don’t make this drop Fury'll kill me.”
“I’ll talk to you later Nat,” you said. “Hopefully face to face.”
You waited for a response, but heard only silence. You turned and her booth was empty, like she had never been there.
------
"Hey there, Agent," came her warm voice over the receiver. You couldn't help but smile, remembering how cold her voice had been when you had first been partnered together.
"Hey there, Black Widow," you said, using the alias that some younger agents had been whispering behind her back.
“Very funny,” she laughed, “but I’m no Tony Stark. I don’t need a fancy code name.”
“You never know,” you said, your voice still light and teasing. “We should probably both come up with some cool code names for that team Fury was talking about. I think Black Widow suits you.”
“Is that supposed to be an insult?”
“No, it means you’re badass. How did your drop go?”
“Good,” she said. “Pretty standard, didn’t run into any problems. How are things on your end?”
“Not bad. I’ve got one thing to finish up this evening, and then I should be good to go. I’ll meet you at the airport at around 5:45 tonight?”
“I’ll be waiting for you, Agent.”
“I’ll be there, Black Widow.”
-----
You snuck around the corner of the warehouse. It was supposed to be one guy. Take him out, take down the whole operation, but apparently, the whole operation was being run out of here. You glanced at your watch. 5:42. Shit. You were gonna miss your flight. A guard passed by, and you froze in place.
You thought he hadn't seen you, but suddenly the sound of his footsteps stopped, then became louder as he ran back towards you, brandishing a weapon. Ducking under him, you grabbed the gun and twisted it away from you, and knocked him over the head with your own pistol.
Suddenly, a loud sound blared over the intercom. Shit. He had sounded the alarm.
You grabbed his gun and made a break for it.
-----
Natasha glanced anxiously at her watch. 5:50.
She glanced around nervously. You hadn’t answered a single one of her calls. She picked up her phone and dialed Nick Fury’s number.
“Fury? Yeah, I know I’m supposed to be getting on a plane, but Y/N isn’t here. Yes, I tried calling. No, Y/N told me 5:45. A good agent is not late, and Y/N is the best agent I know. Where was the mission at? I’m going in. Fury! Tell me now or so help me God... Thank you, that wasn’t too hard, was it?”
She snapped her phone shut. You weren’t too far from where she was.
------
Natasha pulled up to a worn down warehouse with boarded on one side with a forest. Truck after truck pulled away from the building, and she grimaced as she realized what had happened. This was not a simple job like you had thought. Whatever operation you had infiltrated was now fleeing after being busted, and they were likely on shoot to kill orders.
Suddenly she saw you figure limping towards the woods, and before she even knew she had moved, she was racing towards you.
-----
Pain tore through you.
Your abdomen was on fire. You had been shot before, but this hurt. You struggled to get to the cover of the woods. Suddenly a firm hand was on you back, arms were cradling you, and lowering you down to the ground.
“Shh, don’t move,” came Natasha’s voice. “They aren’t worried about finding us, they’re too busy running.”
You looked into her face, making eye contact with your long-time partner for the first time ever, and the world exploded in color.
The grass and trees became vibrant with life, and you turned to look at the new world around you. When you turned back to look at Natasha, her eyes were filled with wonder.
“You hair…” you said weakly, your voice trailing off.
“They tell me it’s red,” she said, her voice wavering.
“Red,” you said, relishing the word on your lips, the feeling of knowing what it meant. “Red is my favorite.”
She smiled, but tears trailed down her face. “Shh, don’t talk. Save your energy, we’ll get you somewhere where they can fix you.”
Ignoring her, you shook your head. "I'm not gonna make it."
You reached up your hand to touch her face. She grabbed your hand and pressed it against her cheek. “I’m glad it was you Nat. I love you.”
“I love you too, Y/N”
She pressed a gentle kiss against your lips and cradled you against her chest.
“Look at the sky, Nat,” you said. “It’s beautiful.”
The sun was setting, and the myriad of brilliant colors spread over the horizon.
"As far as ways to go out," you said, "it could have been worse."
Nat said nothing, only held you tighter
The two of you sat like that until Natasha saw the sunset fade to black and white and the tears blurred her vision.
