There was something about today. Whether it was the traded looks you had exchanged all morning with Steve Harrington, or one of his trademark, side quirked smirks that accompanied his Ray Bans resting on the defined bridge of his perfect nose. Or maybe it was how the soil was damp with a light, faded rain, left over from sunrise, people now flocking outside to get started on mowing their lawns as temperatures brimmed the air with an enriching, yet delicate scent of light florals and winter’s last particles. But then, maybe it was that ice cold Coca Cola with two straws and those double cheeseburgers Steve treated you to on your favorite overlook spot in your neighborhood — quiet, rarely driven on street of middle class homes and your apartment building. He’d laid his coat out for you to sit on, watching cars go by on streets down the small embankment, a simple tree rooted into the hill to give shade, but still enough for you to watch the sun highlight how his biceps flexed beneath his white t-shirt when his arms propped behind his head, ankles crossing over the other, jeans tightening (if that’s even possible) against his toned thighs, his silver chain tucked into his collar, shades still resting comfortably on his eyes.
Your breath had hitched, his beautiful skin already starting to tan. He knew it too, raising, pushing those signature glasses back through vastly overgrown tresses, his nose’s crook finding your cheekbone as he rested. You both inhaled at the same time, Steve smelling of burger grease, sweat, and apple cedarwood, your orbs also privy to observing how his pupils dilated to the sunlight, which gave you the perfect spotlight to the glittering beads of sweat littering the freckles and moles on his jaw. A beautiful amber, layered with the deepest, most intense green you’d ever seen - stare back at you.
~*~
He’d taken you home not long after your lips had met. Your apartment on the same street, one story up and stolen kisses on the stairwell. You immediately went to open your bedroom window and light that candle Steve had purchased for you recently. Spiced Pumpkin Patchouli; rich pumpkin, warm, crisp layers of that patchouli, and touches of cinnamon sugar. The very same one Steve kept in his own place. God were you two pathetic, always smelling like one another or each other’s humble abodes.
No one could tell the difference anymore.
Through thick lashes, his gaze didn’t waver, not even after you offered him a drink and he downed it slowly, your eyes roaming over his throat bobbing with every swallow. It took a few minutes and you were coming apart, scattering to the breeze that flooded your apartment.
“Steve?”
“Hmm?” Though it sounded muffled as he nursed his beer from your holographic wine glass, condensation-soaked fingertips tapping against the crystal, and oh how it looks as if it’s going to shatter in his massive palm, given a stark comparison.
“Don’t look at me that way…”
“Oh? I’m lookin’ at you, honey. What on earth are you gonna do to me now?” He was cocky, that small pudge of his stomach pressed slightly a top his belt buckle, his shirt rucked up.
You had unknowingly gravitated closer towards him, his new curls tickling your forehead, draped through your fingers as they found purchase in his locks, tugging.
“Yeah, s’ what I need. Good girl, honey. You want me, right?”
You’d whimpered into his mouth, practically pleading, eagerly confirming. He’d left his command clear, lips grazing yours as he panted the words across your mouth, “Let’s go to bed, baby.”
~*~
Your clothing came off quickly, rushed to get in the bed beneath your open window, but slow once Steve got you laid down beneath him. Chain tickling your chest, breasts smashed into the tufts of curls scattered to the winds across his sternum. You clung tightly, one hand leveling his backside into pushing him impossibly deeper, the other trading blows between grabbing at his back, his hand, or cradling his face and neck. The fresh Spring air, apple cedarwood, your candle, the coolness of your open window causing goosebumps to erupt over your sex-slick, bare flesh, combined with a panting Steve Harrington and your mattress squeaking as he works to get you both there, it tangles in with Steve as he finds your gaze once more, one tiny pearl of sweat between pinched brows, his focus, tongue licking at the roof of his mouth, his thumb pad caressing your jaw, to giving backhanded knuckle drags across the bone, his tone damp, hooked on rasp with his praises for you, and the way he’s looking at you as if you’re some priceless, explicit art exhibit. And then he’s saying these things;
“You know how wet you are? You know how hard it is to stay inside without slipping out again?”
“Could do this all day until it hurts you to walk.”
“Just let me refer to the list of things I wanna do to you.”
“Tell me it’s alright if I cum. I need you to say I can do it inside of you.”
“The way I always have to feed it to you slowly, so you don’t tap out on me. Fuck.”
“This is home to me, honey.”
~*~
Yeah, that’s probably when. There was definitely something about today.

ghoul perfume associations!
i am very into ghost. and i am also very into indie perfumes! so i decided to combine the two and make a list of my scent associations for each of the ghouls, as well as a few indie fragrances that fit them (in my opinion! if y'all have other thoughts i would LOVE to hear them /gen)
i also included all of the perfumes i found that had the same names as the ghouls, even if i didn't think the scent profile worked, and bonus atmospherics that i think are more naturally ghoul-ish and worked well for the various elements!
warning: this is an obscenely long post. i have too many thoughts.
another warning: because this post is so long, some of the text might get cut off on mobile. it should be okay on desktop if that happens (i don't know how to fix it, sorry)
Aeon
Notes: chocolate, linen, lavender. Aeon smells very gentle and pleasant, but not necessarily sweet. He smells like things that he himself finds comfort in.
Perfumes:
Chocolatine -- Fyrinnae
“Also known as Pain au Chocolat, these flaky croissant-like pastries are filled with pieces of dark or semi-sweet chocolate. This is not a very sweet fragrance.”
TELEGRAMA – Imaginary Authors
talc, lavender absolute, black pepper, teak, amyris, vanilla powder, fresh linens
Bonus:
Phantom -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
Aether
Notes: bourbon, amber, vanilla. Aether smells sophisticated, but with a warm, golden edge. He smells like comfort, like unconditional love- but also a little bit like sex.
Perfumes:
Quintessence of Debauchery -- Alkemia Perfumes
“A distillation of raw, bawdy sexiness without regard for gender - Bourbon vanilla, tonka, dark florals, peach brandy, coriander, mock orange, spiced pumpkin, fresh ginger root, rock rose, long leaf tobacco, black opium infused amber, patchouli, oakmoss, and cruelty-free (vegan) castoreum.”
Morosexual -- Treading Water Perfume
“Morosexual - The sexual attraction to stupid people. Treat yourself and read your partner at the same time with a scent that is as classy as it is stupid. The earthy combo of vanilla, fresh tobacco and star anise combine with spicy nutmeg to create a warm soft blanket to dull the mind.”
tobacco, vanilla, patchouli, jasmine, star anise, nutmeg
Alpha
Notes: leather, smoke, gunpowder. Alpha smells.. off-putting, to most people. He has an intense personality, and it's reflected in his scent.
Perfumes:
Industrial Sabotage -- Alkemia Perfumes
“A cataclysmic wreckage of burnt wires; twisted melted steel; shattered machinery, and gunpowder.”
Night Shift -- PULP Fragrance
“Black frankincense, engine grease from a long late shift, smoke, ash, blackened wood, and a hint of leather.”
Cirrus
Notes: dark fruits, musk. Cirrus smells sophisticated in a dark, sensual way. She smells.. hypnotic, almost. She smells like you want her, but she doesn't even know you exist.
Perfumes:
Venus Black -- Possets
“A grand and very very sensual scent. Black in the most sophisticated way. Considered one of the colors, its working name was Mars' Black but it is so wonderfully feminine that there is no way that it could be named after the god of war, it should be named after the goddess of love. The Blackest musk flirts with a float of black pepper, a shot of dark sweet pear, and the smallest amount of sage and non-stinky narcissus for tingle. One not to be missed. Dry, musky, spicy.”
(i have this one. it's VERY attractive (i had to stop wearing it because i was confusing myself lmao) and now that i associate it with cirrus. i might have a problem)
Salomé -- Alkemia Perfumes
“An overture of not so innocent magnolia underscored with a sly caress of Queen of the Night, a fulsomeness of nubile black grapes and plums, skin musk bathed in spilled cognac, and ruthless twist of bitter orange, blended with an ancient Arabian love philtre of crushed vanilla and tonka bean, sandalwood, vetiver, cedar, and red oud.”
Bonus:
Cirrus -- Osmofolia
Cumulus
Notes: lilac, magnolia, jasmine, sugar. Cumulus smells sweet and cloying. You smell her once and the scent haunts you all day like the most enchanting ghost.
Perfumes:
Alabama -- Possets
“Floral perfume lovers rejoice! This one is the essence of a hot sticky Southern night at the height of passion with the one you love. What a treat! Alabama weaves pink fizzy mimosa, thick white magnolia, canebrake jasmine, Mexican tuberose, and Martinique gardenia. The effect is eternally woman, unabashedly sexy, and in command. These are all knit together with precious Sacred Frankincense to concoct a bombshell of a fragrance, deep white floral with deep incense leanings. A hypnotic fragrance. So very sweet, so very profound. Feminine, floral, devastating.”
Sweet Mother -- Little And Grim
“‘Sweet mother, I cannot weave --/ slender Aphrodite has overcome me/ with longing for a girl.’ -Sappho. Notes of lush moss, blooming lilac, French lavender, rose, jasmine, mandarin and lemon zest, warm musk, and lily of the valley.”
Bonus:
Cumulus -- Osmofolia
Skiing On Europa -- Fyrinnae
“The atmosphere of a distant moon, not as habitable for mammals as Earth, the thin air reminiscent of high mountain elevations before snowfall. Cold, and ozonic like petrichor.”
Dewdrop
Notes: berries, smoke, wood. Dew smells like resinous woodsmoke, with an unexpected berry undertone. (Just like his personality: brash outside, sweet inside.)
Perfumes:
Ignis -- PULP Fragrance
“Raspberries, fresh ginger, smoky aloeswood, pale blond tobacco leaves & fiery red musk.”
A CITY ON FIRE – Imaginary Authors
“The refined smoke accord makes this an austere and luxurious scent for evenings on the town, whether with a special someone or alone and looking for trouble.”
cade oil, spikenard, cardamom, clearwood, dark berries, labdanum, burnt match
Bonus:
The Center of the Universe -- Alkemia Perfumes
“The center of our universe is raspberries and rum? In a vast dust cloud at the center of the Milky Way there is an abundance of ethyl formate, a simple aliphatic ester found in the smell of rum and raspberries. To these elements, we've added notes from astronauts' descriptions of the smell of their suits when they return from space walks - freshly welded metal, gun powder, seared steak in an iron pan, burnt almond cookies, charcoal, and ozone.”
Ifrit
Notes: black tea, incense. Ifrit smells heavy and dark in a way that makes you want more. Very mysterious, even though his personality doesn't really match.
Perfumes:
Black Tea -- Possets
“The most dark and the most tannic of teas. Somehow that puckery quality becomes addictive. Just right for a seductive night deep in July or August where humidity makes itself into a sexy accessory. Not subtle but very alluring. Pure and beautiful, incense floats over it all and the effect is so much like the vapor lines of a mirage. Tea-like but not sweet.”
(this is one of my favorite fragrances EVER, i wear it like every day)
O, UNKNOWN! – Imaginary Authors
“At the risk of sounding bleak, this night could be your last. Splash on O, Unknown! and plunge forth into prosperity and joy. Repeat as often as you are able.”
black tea, lapsang souchong tincture, orris butter, kyoto moss, musk balsam, sandalwood
Bonus:
The Ifrit -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
Mist
Notes: water, herbs. Mist smells aquatic and green, like spring rain or a pond full of plants. There's an icy, aloof edge to her scent.
Perfumes:
Taste of Rain -- Alkemia Perfumes
“A primordially vernal chypre consecrated by silver rain, green ivy, holy basil, lilacs, moss, and wisteria.”
Diaphanous Dress -- Possets
“If the lovely Primavera would wear a gown, she might be dressed in a garment made of snow crystals and flowers. Even into April, spring can get cold even while the flowers we all love press upward. Spring displays irony in her variability. Deepest and richest Mexican vanilla troupes bravely with the chill aquatic of snow falling in heavy doses and melting almost on contact. A tuft of chlorophyll is in the background and a hint of the flowers it all overtakes for just a while. This is an enchanting fragrance, a hypnotic springtime blend which is more about the atmosphere than the real flowers themselves.”
Bonus:
Ammil -- Alkemia Perfumes
“An olfactory journey that morphs like melting ice... starting cold and aloof with distinct elements of wet snow and ice then gradually unfolding to reveal an indescribably unique velvety skin warmth.”
Mountain
Notes: vetiver, greenery, earth, mushrooms. Mountain smells very green and earthy, almost like he was recently underground, or maybe like he spent all day tending to a fragrant garden (he did).
Perfumes:
Hedale Wood -- Little And Grim
“This fragrance is dark and a bit mysterious, while staying green enough to be worn without smelling too villainous.”
vetiver, cedar trees, bergamot, dense foliage, coriander, musk, sandalwood, frankincense, a touch of lavender, amber
Heirloom Tomato Leaf -- Fyrinnae
“Rows of tomato plants on a humid day, their unmistakable heavy green fragrance filling the air and clinging to your hands as you touch the leaves. This is not a solitary note perfume, but includes significant notes of damp soil and humid air.”
Bonus:
Beneath The Forest -- Fyrinnae
“Beneath the trees, where scant sunlight ever reaches and few green plants grow, mushrooms (and decay) flourish in the ever-damp soil, surrounded by darkness. Step carefully, there could be traps.”
Nimbus*
Notes: peach, rose, wood. Nimbus smells sweet and slightly earthy, with an overwhelming ripe peach heart and a floral edge. Very pretty, very cheerful, but not childish.
Perfumes:
South Star -- PULP Fragrance
“Sweet creamy peach, vanilla beans, liatrix, & a woody-ambrette accord, all topped off with a hint of cinnamon.”
Someone Tell Lady Luck -- Little And Grim
lemongrass, bright fresh ginger, verbena, sweet peaches, bamboo, and clean rain on city streets
Bonus:
Aurora -- Alkemia Perfumes
Armenian Rose -- Fyrinnae
“The fragrance of dark red rose petals and sweeter pink roses with the earthy scent of native lilies.”
*i headcanon nimbus as a earth/air multi
Omega
Notes: wood, amber, tobacco. Omega smells warm, but not quite comforting. He smells like he knows more than you (he does) and like he's a little bit disappointed in you (he might be). He smells like he COULD be comforting, if you managed to earn his approval.
Perfumes:
Bibliotheca -- Alkemia Perfumes
“A vintage elegance of leatherbound books, plush club chairs, vintage vinyl records, polished mahogany tables, fountain pen ink, black tea, dark plum brandy, vetiver, rosewood, artemesia, white carnation, lavender water, citron, tweedy woolens, and oakmoss.”
(i have this one! it's surprisingly woody)
Bronze and Blaze -- Alkemia Perfumes
“Autumnal bronze amber aged with cognac barrel staves, red oak leaves, Perique pipe tobacco, raw wool, ripe pumpkin, opoponax (sweet myrrh), and soft suede gloves warmed by a creamy steamy cup of Bourbon vanilla coffee.”
Rain
Notes: seawater, ozone. Rain smells like the ocean, or more accurately, like a siren that wants to lure you out to sea and kill you. Wet, a little bit green, sweet and salty.
Perfumes:
Mermaids in the Basement -- Alkemia Perfumes
“A siren song of seawater soaked linen, aquatic incense, white ginger, pomelo, limoncello, dry moss, clary sage, cactus flower, prickly pear, loquat, fir resin, cedar needles, mesquite pods, Hinoki wood, Guaiac wood, and Elemi resin.”
EVERY STORM A SERENADE – Imaginary Authors
danish spruce, eucalyptus, vetiver, calone, ambergris, baltic sea mist
Bonus:
Black Squall -- Fyrinnae
“Open waters of the deepest blue, eerily calm before the looming arcus cloud in the distance bears down, revealing the wrath of the storm behind it. There was little left to do now but watch and wait. Cold and clean-smelling seawater, ozonic air, now and then a little olive oil from the lamps.”
Sunshine/Stratus**
Notes: strawberries, citrus, vanilla, spices. Sunny smells like summer. She smells like ripe fruit, sweet cold drinks, and sun, with a little bit of unexpected spice.
Perfumes:
Strawberry Lemonade -- PULP Fragrance
“Fresh strawberries, lemonade, and a bowl of strawberry-vanilla ice cream.”
Lola -- Alkemia Perfumes
“A dramatic splash of Coca-cola trailed by an adoration of blood orange, pink peppercorns, caviar lime, orange blossom, tonka, spicy nutmeg dancing sinuously across a base of warm Brazilian cherrywood.”
Bonus:
Stratus -- Osmofolia
Prairie 66 -- Alkemia Perfumes
“The smell of an old cement-paved road in the desert just before dawn when the cement is cold and almost, but not quite damp. Flowering desert sage, aldehydes, grapefruit, Linden blossoms, bergamot, saffron, gray amber, yucca, yuzu, and cool concrete. ”
**i headcanon sunny as a fire/air multi
Swiss***
Notes: smoke, musk, patchouli. Swiss smells dark but welcoming, unpredictable but attractive. He smells the way velvet feels: sweet, smoky, decadent.
Perfumes:
Smoke & Mirrors -- Alkemia Perfumes
“An elusive, smokey blend of burning wood, Madagascar Vanilla, and Tonka. We find this one to be elementally simple, but unusually mercurial and highly responsive to different skin chemistries… the vanilla and the smoke dance with each other almost continuously… sometimes the foreground is smoky, then sweet, then returns with sweetly smoky, then smoky.”
Allen Ginsberg - Howl -- Possets
“Possets' interpretation of Howl is unabashedly sexy, driven mad by welling passions. Black, red and amber musks wrestle furiously with sandalwood and opium tar resin. There is nothing light or gentle about this scent. A burning incense backs it up, black patchouli stands in the forefront. Dark, musky, resinous. Tremendously savage, dark and sweet like molasses rather than sugar. ...and yet, there is something innocent about it all.”
(i have howl and it's SO good and so perfect for swiss)
***i headcanon swiss as a fire/water multi
Zephyr
Notes: dust, ozone. Zephyr smells like the air where something once was, or maybe where something is and has been too long. Dusty, faintly sweet, slightly melancholic.
Perfumes:
Dustsceawung -- Alkemia Perfumes
“The scent of forbidden explorations and an olfactory meditation on dust... attic air, the inside of old trunks, abandoned haylofts, library stacks, and abandoned buildings. Dustsceawung is the contemplation of dust, worldly desires, and the ephemerality of all things... raspings that were once a tree, ruins that were once cities, bones that were once lovers. Dust is always the ultimate destination on our journey.”
 Hauntology -- PULP Fragrance
“Ozone, olibanum, the air in a closed up kitchen cupboard that might once have held raisins and dried apricots, ambergris, burled briarwood, & the lost futures of a home abandoned.”
Bonus:
Zephyr -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
if you made it to the end of this i admire your dedication. and i would love to hear what you think!

1, 2 & 15
The song I listen the mostttt during autumn is probably Crystal, specifically the Buckingham Nicks version but I love the Stevie & Mac versions too.
Songs I love that give me Halloween specific vibes, probably Halloween by the Misfits, Pet Sematary by the Ramones, Baby You’re a Haunted House by Gerard Way, I Was a Teenage Werewolf by The Cramps, Scary Monsters by David Bowie, Haddonfield by Wednesday 13, and Black No. 1 by Type O Negative. I didn’t mean to write a mini playlist but these songs give me “going through a haunted house at a theme park with friends and gorging myself on junk food after” vibes.
And my favorite autumn scent is the pumpkin patchouli candle from bath & bodyworks. Also their Pumpkin Bonfire. Pumpkin spice & woodsy hippie scent. Pumpkin & incense.

I’m sorry this is out of nowhere but do you have indie perfume recs? I’ve been trying to get into that. I want to smell scary. like a hungry siren, or like sickly sweet poison. But also all your faves too please! Thank you so much!
Oh, I love this question! Indie shops are like...my happy place. My addiction, perhaps?
The indie perfume world is wild and deep. I've been in it for a few years, so my taste in perfume has changed, along with the houses I 'vibe' with.
I will start with the 'easiest' for newcomers to get into. When I say 'easy' it is because they break out scent profiles, styles, and also make it easy to sample at a lower cost. The more advanced houses will be expensive, riskier with high reward, and you must know your style deeply before you attempt buying from them...because your wallet will eventually hurt otherwise XD
The breakdown below the cut, because I am long-winded, I am sorry.
Most people start with Alkemia Perfumes. I started here, even though I eventually decided the perfume oil base didn't actually work for me (after I had an absolute blast trying over 20+ samples over a few months. The fun was worth it. Getting scents in the mail is self-care, I tell ya.). You can sample 5 different scents of your choice for $18. The nice thing about this brand is they really break down scent types, which will help you elsewhere. They break it down by 'aquatics, spices, sweets, earthy, incensy, florals, vanillas, etc. in their 'explore our perfumes' section. A lot of people recommend their 'Ghost Fire' from them (I've never tried it). I personally like 'The Honored Ghosts' & 'Misdeeds After Midnight' (but misdeeds was limited collection sadly). Typically, the 'scary' scents will be earthy / incensy / red musk / resinous styled scents.
Andromeda's Curse is another very easy to sample house, but on Etsy. I had fun trying them, but found the longevity to be light on my skin, which annoys me. You will find that indie oils tend to be lighter throw than alcohol fragrances (though can last on your skin for 8+ hours), but some very expensive oils are just as powerful. For $13 you can sample 5 scents here. Try different notes & styles and keep a journal of what worked and what didn't. You will soon find that there is a 'death note' that you NEVER get along with, therefore you must avoid most perfumes with it haha. My death note is typically patchouli and anything overly floral. White Tea is also a note I can't wear, I despise it.
This all being said...where do I actually shop? Nocturne Alchemy. This house is NOT easy to get into and often you need someone to help you understand their catalogue (which I am happy to do). It is pricy and also has a wild amount of Limited Editions (scents that only come back 2 years in a row seasonally and disappear forever...I typically buy these). I vibe with this house. It's my scent style and works on my skin. I love dark vanillas, spices, resinous fruits, and honeyed ambers and this house goes beyond all this and more.
Nocturne Alchemy / NAVA is known for their ambers & resins and I can say I love their Queen Amber, Celestial Amber, Princess Amber, and their Sky Amber. All fabulous, though Queen Amber is considered 'intimidating' due to the heavy mix of thick honey / incense / ambered musk. It's basically aggressive woman walking into a room. My husband likes it on me, so whatevs, I dig it. I'm a honey fan, so I search out honey scents LOL. You may lean towards their Anubis Garden & Desecrated Tomb collections, as they are very dark and powerful...NAVA has a huge collection of various scent profiles, if you have more questions on them, feel free to comment and ask. I've tried...a lot...of their scents...T.T
I will also recommend Arcana Wildcraft & Arcana Craves. They are both owned by the same person, but Wildcraft is a bit more...complex? Eerie? I don't get along with most scents from there, but I do get along with the Craves lineup because I love interesting gourmands. Pumpkins Crave Black Swallowers is basically a drunken goth pumpkin bread, boozed up, smoking a clove cigarette on Halloween outside a goth club in the 90s. Pumpkins Crave Resins is one I also like...fresh pumpkin bread and heavy black amber, but also a bit boozy with something heavy, maybe the labdanum {notes being: Gilded amber, black amber, 10 year old labdanum absolute, black tea, and boozy golden gourd} I've tried a bunch of scents from Craves and most are a lot of fun, but on the gourmand side. I love their Honey & Vanilla catalogues.
You might also want to glance at BPAL, as they have a strong, eerie/unique/goth theme to them. I don't get along with most of their oils, but I do like some of them and they are very popular! Snake Oil {vintage patchouli and dark, rich, aged vanilla absolute. deep, rich, earthy notes swirled with vegetal musks, sugared vanilla bean, and dark spices} has a cult following, people age it for years they love it so much. Personally, I didn't like it, too much dark patchouli for my tastes, but I did like the other version Scream Inside Your Snake Oil because it was the original but mixed with funnel cake...so...vaguely sweeter LOL. I do also like their Bobbing For Snake Oil scent {apples crushed into vintage patchouli, dark, rich, aged vanilla absolute, vegetal musk, and spices}.
Hexennacht is a house that has a very strong catalogue. I've loved so much from it, but eventually couldn't justify buying after personally witnessing the owner out a customer's purchasing history in a facebook group fight T.T That being said, the products are great and they once had a scent called 'Necromancer' that literally smelled like a bad man making bad life choices, but like, with a lot of money involved. 'Hēdonē' is one of the scents I like, I was told I smelled like sexy incense while wearing it. You can sample all scents from this shop (and other shops!) at Ajevie, a decanter who provides samples of multiple houses. They are closed until January 11th at this time, but when they open you will be able to see all the samples they offer. You might be interested in 'Fallen Angel' - rain-soaked granite, mountain air, petrichor, creeping ivy, damp earth. This is atmospheric and smells like being on a mountain in the middle of a rainstorm.
Pulp Fragrance is also closed for break right now, but they have a scent called 'Hallowed Ground' that literally smells like walking in a graveyard and it is terrifying LOL (notes being: Rich soil, damp air, slowly decaying wood, black honey, dark chocolate, soft moss, and a thread of precious resin incense smoke)
There are sooooo many houses I can tell you about, but these are the most popular and reliable ones you will see.
If you have any questions, I'm happy to clarify anything! The Indie world is huge and there is so much to learn, it's a fun journey and I hope you have a blast (though there will definitely be times that you will smell things and go OH NO WTF IS THIS? NAST AF!)
I will also suggest r/indiemakeupandmore on Reddit. I don't know much about 'Reddit life' aside from this sub, because it is full of the greatest people ever who simply want to talk about indie perfume recs, experiences, new shops, indie perfume/makeup/skincare/candles/candy/coffee, etc.
Also. Off topic, but if you are looking for more indie products, I recently discovered Lollies By Leah and I can tell you that I was mindblow by these lollypops. WTF. I don't even really like candy, I was gifted these, but now I'm thinking of buying a subscription box because this month's theme is Fairy Tale lollies and these things are WILD.
I even get into indie soaps and skincare. It's a thing T.T If you get dry hands in winter, Haus of Gloi has spectacular pumpkin butter cream, OMG, my whole family buys it. Literally. My. Whole. Family.
*also, more shops listed in the comments.

ELdO, my ELdO 2.0:
500 Years by Etat Libre d'Orange - sweet sweet rose, with a bit of cocoa powder on it, can't really say much more about it. Nice and simple.
Experimentum Crucis by Etat Libre d'Orange - surprisingly not much rose in this one - sweeter at the top, woodier and with more patchouli at the bottom, the rose is spread thinly throughout the whole thing. Also pretty good, but not awfully unique.
Hermann A Mes Cotes Me Paraissait Une Ombre by Etat Libre d'Orange - now that's more interesting, a whole lot of unique notes like earth after rain, specific rare woods and synthetic sea breeze. Also again rose. Actually has a lot of wateriness to it, after a while becomes wet rose and at the end is mostly fresh black currant leaves. Will return to it.
Noel au Balcon by Etat Libre d'Orange - sweet apricots at the top and sweet slightly spicy tangerines at the bottom. At the very end feels like faint cinnamon. Pleasant and fitting to the literal meaning of its title.
Remarkable People by Etat Libre d'Orange - bright grapefruit juice with bubbles from the champagne that with time becomes white flowers (it says jasmine, but I feel something else too) and leathery notes from labdanum. Very very interesting development - will return to this one as well.
Tilda Swinton Like This by Etat Libre d'Orange - realistic pumpkin spice (with actual pumpkin that is) at the top, that unfortunately fades pretty quickly into something just sweet.
Don't Get Me Wrong Baby, YES I DO by Etat Libre d'Orange - returned to this one to see if there's anything unique about it, distinguishing it from other lily-of-the-valley fragrances and I can't really tell I found anything too special about it. It's very pleasant, very realistic lily-of-the-valley with some added sweetness, got a tad soapy on me. At the very bottom gave me a bit of jasmine (if I didn't imagine it of course).

It's Septemberrrrrr what perfumes are you bringing out for autumn?
I actually just got out my autumn perfumes! It's kind of wishful thinking because seasonal changes in San Francisco are pretty mild, but hey, it's all about the vibe. Some of these are woodsy or smoky and may overlap with wintery perfumes, but for winter I tend to get out gourmands and spices (while still wearing plenty of these!) And some of these are limited editions, alas! As always disclaimer that you can wear whatever you want at any time of the year, and I certainly do.
Getting these out for autumn:
Ella by Sweet Anthem (pumpkin, oud, lavender)
Black Sugar by Sixteen92 (brown sugar, caramel, red berries)
The Bell Witch by Sixteen92 (apple cider, moss, tobacco)
Pumpkin Spice Snake Oil by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (pumpkin, cinnamon, vanilla)
Bewitched by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (blackberries, sage, green tea)
Fille en Aiguilles by Serge Lutens (pine, dried fruits, incense)
Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford (tobacco, vanilla, spices)
Replica Autumn Vibes by Maison Martin Margiela (cardamom, maple, cedar)
Replica By the Fireplace by Maison Martin Margiela (smoke, chestnut, cloves)
And one I still need to get a decant of:
Enchanted Forest by Vagabond Prince (black currant, fir tree, red wine)
And some year-round ones that I think are especially good for fall:
Alice by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (carnation, milk, rose)
Lucy's Kiss by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (rose, sandalwood, spices)
Tombeur by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (vanilla, sandalwood, patchouli)
Dead Leaves, Blue Lilac, Black Currant, and Black Orchid by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (as the name says!)
Tainted Love by TokyoMilk (vanilla, orchid, amber)

PÄKIDGE!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One soap for each of the Spawn for the upcoming holiday…and an extra of each for me!!!
Left to right:
Library Fragrance: If you love the smell of old books, and old bookstores, this one is for you. This distinctive fragrance recalls the atmosphere of an long-lost library, beginning with a teakwood top note that gives way to a heart of cedar and leather. Earthy sandalwood, dark musk, and patchouli wrap up this woody scent.
Happy Fragrance: A lovely sparkling sandalwood – a little hard to describe, but a favorite of everyone who gets their hands on a bar!
Basic Witch Fragrance: A surprisingly nuanced fall fragrance. A mix of walnut, pecan, espresso, freshly-cooked pumpkin, caramel, ginger, cinnamon, and allspice. If you enjoy the spice notes in carrot cake, you’ll enjoy this one.
All fragrance descriptions directly from the site. 📚 🌈 🌙

🐰 + your new baby girl Goldie??
THANK YOU MY DARLING, FOR ASKING ABOUT MY NEW BABY!
1. Their berserk button: Bullies; they’re the reason she decided to hide her personality, as well as her body, and it’s one of her biggest regrets. Goldie has made it her mission to make sure that no one being bullied will suffer the way she did
2. Why their name was chosen: Marigold is Goldie’s mother’s favorite flower, and she thought it would be a lovely name for a girl
3. Their favorite 2020s song: bad idea right? by Olivia Rodrigo
4. Their biggest fear: Goldie is terrified of losing her personality to bullying again; she never wants to hide who she is again, and she wants to encourage body positivity throughout McKinley High
5. One turn-on of theirs: Self-confidence
6. Their go-to sleepover activities: Reading fashion magazines like Cosmopolitan and Vogue, eating pizza and cherry Twizzler Pull-n-Peels, and watching cheesy Hallmark movies
7. What candle they’d get at Bath & Body Works: Spiced Pumpkin & Patchouli (rich pumpkin, warm patchouli, and a touch of cinnamon sugar)
8. A moment where they reached their breaking point: When she got her first slushy; Goldie had never felt more humiliated and FURIOUS as she felt that cold ice drip down her face, as well as Abby’s face
9. Whether they’re organized or slobby: Goldie’s a SLOB; a big ol’ slob
10. Their favorite feature about themselves: Her curves
