It's Blue Beetle release week!!!! AHHHH!!!! Please, please, show up for blue beetle! Since the actors are striking, they can't promote their own movie that theyve worked so hard on. And if this movie doesn't do well, I wholly anticipate studios to take that to mean not that folks have superhero burnout (we do), not that DC movies aren't always great (they aren't), but that movies about Latine heroes or centering on Latine families or that feature Latino leads aren't profitable. They ARE! We just need to be given the chance!

yes!! because we're taking inspiration from multiple iterations of spider-man, the roles other characters play in the story are very flexible and aren't one-for-one matches to particular characters. that being said, el is gonna be featured as spider-el (because i'm a sucker for willel wonder twins content), who goes on to the superhero big leagues ala mcu spidey, while will remains the friendly neighborhood spider-man! here's a sketch of her design so far😳

we also have jonathan as head of photography at the bugle and nancy and/or robin having a role similar to yuri in the ps4 game! other characters to come as we solidify them :D thanks for the ask!

The supposed 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿 would be +18 years old according to the chronology, not 10, but they won't look for him because it seems that they will be almost all the time in Mexico and part in Las Vegas. We don't even know if they will remember anything after 𝑵𝒐 𝑾𝒂𝒚 𝑯𝒐𝒎𝒆 and also in that scene it seems that 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺 wants 𝗘𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗲 to move on from "going to look for 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿-𝗠𝗮𝗻" thing. i love dustins backstory, but u didn't tell anything about his relationship with el so im curious how it works for him! bc we already know that mike will try to stand far from will bc we doesnt want to lose him but it will be too hard for both of them, but what about dustin? will he catch some feelings for el? and if he'll do, will he try to not pursue any romantic relationship with her bc he would be scared that what happened to suzie will happen to El as well?

Also I completely forgot to add Henderhop to their backstories so my bad! ^^’ I do want to expand their backstories with more comics in the future! But for now I’ll just ramble here 😛

In Dustin’s universe, he’s really good friends with Will and El, he knows Mike through Eddie, and seeing his good friend as another Spider-Man is endearing to him so he visits Mike in his universe a lot to get away from most things-

However in his universe he and El are good friends but never get the chance to talk considering she is still with Mike, at first- he was never interested in relationships after everything that happened with Suzie, it was too hard to bare at the time. He was out of it for the most part- he drifted away from Mike, El, Will and all of his friends. However when he went into the Spiderverse with Mike and met this El- they sort of began to bond. Mike and Will had their own problems trying to avoid each other, but realized that avoiding the problem won’t fix anything, they try to make amends as best they can together. With Lucas and Max trying to fix things as well they are sort of stuck in the middle and decided to support each other, Dustin began to open up to El because she was the only one who was there to listen and genuinely understand. She told him what she went through too, they finally found someone on equal footing with each other.

It began to shift into a more complex friendship, he would visit her universe just to talk, and she would do the same.

They both agreed to keep their relationship strictly as friends, until Dustin would be up at night thinking about her, his feelings became mixed and it troubled him, he confronted El saying how scared he was to loose her as well.

He could never imagine the world without her in it and it scared him. “The world needs Spider woman. But what happens when I need her more?”

She felt his anguish, but from what they’ve seen from Will and Mike, trying to avoid anything and each other doesn’t solve anything, it hurts more to stop.

“Then why stop?”

She told him that Spider man or no, they are people too, sure they aren’t normal but who cares? They have each others backs and understand each other more than anyone else in the world. Maybe that’s worth more than something?

Yes they do get together! And they stay together! They have minor bumps in the road in their relationship but they communicate and pull through it together, they understand everyone around them more than they know, what they see around them makes their relationship stronger, and they teach each other a lot of things, El’s relationship with Hopper gets stronger because Dustin tells her to keep the people she loves the most close to her. And in return, she tells him to open up to his close ones, allowing him to build up the courage to talk to Steve.

They are just such a cute ship and I think they would be the most healthy relationship but that’s my opinion lolll

Also they would do the iconic upside down Spiderman kiss except Dustin would jump back onto the ground so they can do the kiss <3

And they hold hands the most out of everyone, the first time they talked they held hands as sort of support and understanding of each other, it became their connection to hold each other tight and never let go. :)

so, in the updated spider-nance universe, nearly everything has been scrapped from the original. in the original, it was going to be a very standard spidey origin story. nancy was going to become the spider-woman, there was a super secret spy that escaped (eleven) and that would've brought robin onto team spidey. ultimately, too convoluted and i hate writing origin stories, especially with one as well known as spider-man's.

HOWEVER in the updated spidey-nance universe, nancy has already been the spider-woman for a while now. except, she hasn't been seen in years. not after that night with the goblin and barb. (picture barb's death as a TASM2 style death.) and after that, the goblin is defeated. nancy leaves the mask behind and walks away from it all. no more spider-woman.

nancy's in college now too (somewhere between her junior and senior year, havent really pinned that one down yet) just trying to get her degree in journalism like she'd originally planned. except life uhhhh finds a way. there's a new goblin--one who knows nancy, or at least, knows of her past-- and is actively trying to make nancy's life a living hell, almost five years later.

enter-- robin buckley, nosy, yet equally concerned, neighbor. who, nancy will learn, is incredibly smart, and becomes the official team spidey codebreaker.

nancy can't let herself get to close to her though (because, you know) but finds herself failing. nancy is drawn to robin, no matter what. which means robin is a liability, which means she cannot know nancy's secret. ever.

of course, robin will eventually find out (it's one of the very few scenes i kept from the original concept). and robin is stubborn, too, just like barb was. (wonder what will happen there...)

that's the gist of it, basically. in my mind nancy as the spider-woman does not have the same morals as peter parker, which is what makes her so interesting (and difficult) to write. like sure, she gets the whole power and responsibility thing, but i think after barb's death, she'd walk away from being spider-woman because her job would be done. the goblin is defeated. (how he was defeated...we may never know) and in college too i don't think she fully gives up the whole superhero thing. she's not the spider-woman anymore, but she protects girls from creepy guys following them home and stuff, ya know? (also nancy still has her guns. in no universe does she not own a gun.) i'm still on the fence if i wanna add some upside down things to this, mostly because i don't know where it would go, but also, i think it would be really cool to see spider-nance go up against the demogorgon.

I have this idea I’m very attached to in the Spidey-Will genre… PROBABLY won’t ever be written, but lives rent-free in my head & makes me happy, so figured i’d share it.

So there’s this El-as-X-11 idea, which I’m quite attached to, because I feel that she and X-23 are quite similar in backstory with the Weapon X government program assassin thing, even if their powers are wildly different. Can’t figure out how to sibling-ify Will & El yet, but I’ll get there.

So let’s say, hypothetically, X-11 escapes.

And, hypothetically, she might encounter/live with this universe’s version of Hop, first. But then she has to run, for lab-related reasons.

Perhaps, after an injury she ends up breaking into an apartment, in an attempt to find a place to sleep.

And so, our favorite college student, Mike Wheeler, returns to his cheap-ass apartment to find a bloody body lying on his couch.

He tries to see if she’s alive/has any wounds, and she throws him half across the room.

It’s the start of a beautiful friendship.

From there, El continues to be a cryptid.

Mike can never tell when she’s actually IN the apartment, so he starts, like, talking to himself aloud as he enters as if she is, which makes him feel a little bananas, but that’s okay. He still jumps every time he turns a corner & finds her standing there, though. Every. Time.

They come to a compromise on the sleeping situation? Kind of? El has the couch whenever she needs it, she just… if she’s going to come over bloody, could she clean it up? Mike invests in heavy duty cleaning supplies, and worries vaguely about being charged with murder. He figures El would probably break him out.

Here’s the thing, though. El doesn’t want to go out in public, and she doesn’t want Mike to tell his friends about her. Which is… fine. No, really, it is. Like, evil lab people, Mike totally gets it—he’s met Doc Ock, okay?

But college has been, like, really weird, and it’s hard to keep in touch, apparently, and—whatever, obviously Mike assumed everybody was closer than the were or something, but the point is—the point is—keeping secrets is hard, and he doesn’t think the whole “keeping this a secret” thing is HELPING the distance between everybody.

And also, El keeps stealing his clothes. Her excuse is that she can’t go shopping in public, which is probably bullshit, but El’s wardrobe is… eclectic. Mike’s not sure where she acquired it all, but there are a lot of men’s flannels and jeans mixed in with punk clothes, so Mike’s pretty sure stealing people’s clothes is just a Thing El Does. It’s kind of sweet. Still, that sweatshirt was a present from Will, alright, so he’s gonna need it back.

Another Thing El Does? Fucking monopolize the TV. And like, Mike’s trying to be accommodating, but certain shows run at certain times, El, and Mike needs his emotional support characters, damn it.

And then there’s the cats. So. Many. Cats. Is Mike ALLOWED to have cats in this shitty-ass apartment? Fuck no, not that anyone’s gonna call him out on it, apparently. Does Mike WANT cats in his apartment? Well. Hypothetically, how would you feel about having to dodge these creepy bastards, constantly getting scratched, watching reflective eyes blink out at you from the shadows, having to pull apart LITERAL cat fights… look, El heals fast, right? She has a skewed idea of which cats are “friendly.” These assholes are feral, stray, and most likely diseased, and Mike does NOT have the luxury of super-rapid healing, and he’s already running low on clothes because of El so having the cats attack his wardrobe is Not Helping The Situation, AND! And one of the assholes fucking tried to eat Roary, okay, he’s all chewed up & Mike had to hide him to keep him from acquiring further damage, & he’s, like, traumatized now. Yes he’s a plastic dino. He still has feelings.

Besides, they can’t AFFORD this much cat food, el, or the vet, it’s not like you’re paying rent—

No, that does not mean you steal more cat food—

Also El keeps eating ice cream directly from the carton & putting it back in the freezer & it’s driving Mike batshit.

Anyway. Mike’s… mostly sure he has a roommate now? She’s around often enough, and he kind of thinks they’re best friends at this point? Maybe? El sometimes doesn’t understand like, boundaries & privacy & stuff, but Mike knows he pushes her buttons, too—they get snippy with each other, a lot, but like, in a friendly way? Kinda like him & Max, except the ex-assassin (he thinks she’s stopped? Probably?) is definitely nicer. Mike talked to Joyce about it—WITHOUT exposing El, obviously—and she said open conversations about boundaries are important with roommates? So Mike’s gonna talk to El about that when he gets home, and neither of them are going to be defensive or dismissive, and it’s gonna be great.

Honestly, having an ex-assassin sort-of-accidentally become his roommate isn’t even the WEIRDEST thing Mike’s ever done.

He used to flirt with Spider-Man.

I'm not really a fan of it, considering I have seen works of this trope (mostly fanart but still-) and I just. Don't exactly appreciate this. Also a lot of the time this trope happens due to jealousy. And I know there are surely good works of this but still. Not a fan unless an online mutual or friend of mine shows me one and says it's good.

The show FRIENDS killed this trope for me, and I fucking hate the Ross X Rachel romantic relationship it has. Like cut off contact with each other at this point Jesus fucking christ-
