this lens does make lawrence's homily being interpreted as a campaign speech more understandable (and particularly funny).

he is speaking to/from a place of frustration with institutional inertia and factionalism, he is using his position as dean to bravely promote a platform for internal change in the curia, he is offering doubt as an alternative to certainty, he is pulling an absolute wildcard move.

What other choice do we have when this is our entire world from our home to our workplace to everything in between? And thing is even if you try to escape? This world won't let you. Most likely you are going to be dragged back kicking and screaming and turned into a grotesque monster against your will. Most likely someone with a gun to your head will keep you in check. And even if you do escape the god that has done nothing but taken from you and hurt you and destroyed you and killed you and broken you down and turned you into something horrid?

i apologise if i'm posting this much about the DLC but i am very excited

so theory time! this time about Glamrock Bonnie!

someone found Glamrock Bonnie in bonnie bowl and someonw else got his pieces from the gamefiles and stuck the model back together (the images are not mine, i have no idea who even psoted them ebcause they've been reposted a crapload of times, but i know the originals came from twitter)

i feel a bit sad than logically he was there the whole time during the main game as well and we simply couldn't see him

but also: He has claw marks on his chest, which i think pretty much confirms that monty is the one that broke him apart.

however. that's not nearly enough damage to decommission a glamrock animatronic, as we have seen.

hell monty looks like this in the dlc and he is still kicking (probably by the power of god tho) and i remember seeing THIS video some time ago, so let me bring you something a bit painful:

most people i've seen pinpoin monty's actions toward bonnie as envy and resentment, however in monty golfs whenever we see character cutouts or holograms Freddy is the one in the shadows, always. wouldn't have made it more sense for monty to try and attack someone he quite clearly disliked instead of bonnie? we know freddy and bonnie were close, so with some stretch you could even say monty was jealous of freddy's relationship with bonnie (but i'm not going to account that here) If the theory from that video is true and bonnie was the first and only trial test of the grlitchtrap virus on a full glamrock animatronic, what if monty noticed? what if monty saw that bonnie was acting weird, and when confronted him realized something was severely wong for a reason or another? and either to prevent the spread of the virus, OR simply out of self preservation he was forced to fight with bonnie? because if the mimic were to see someone noticed him, he'd likely try and make them disappear in one way or another so my theory-timeline is: Bonnie was infected, started acting weird, wandered around and ultimately ended in monty golf, monty saw him and went to him, then noticed something was wrong, bonnie attacked him to make sure nobody knew, and monty had to defend himself.

i'm fairly sure this is at least somewhat correct because Monty's claws can do some serious damage, and definitely more than what Bonnie's torso and head show. (edit: yes even without upgrade, Monty still has very big and sharp claws, realistically they could totally do that amount of damage, + in the original draft of the game, from Monty you were supposed to take his legs, and the claw upgrade was not a thing at all, yet it was always hinted he did caused bonnie's decommission)

all of this to say that bonnie more likely was decommissioned not because of the damage, but rather because because when technicians tried to fix him they noticed something had infected him, and to prevent any further spreading they were forced to deactivate him.

in my straw hat!Ichiji, i have covered a lot about Ichijim his character and his eventual character arc during WCI, which brings me to my next point...

Luffy, being Luffy, absolutely librates the other two Vinsmokes and Reiju, after Ichiji informs him that they can't leave, even if they want to

in this AU, Niji is functionally blind and has to rely on the Germa tech goggles or he's blind as a bat and can't survive on his own. he has also pent-up anger towards Ichiji for "choosing" Sanji instead of them and towards Sanji, accusing him for being their mother's "favorite"(it's a delicate situation, they really need to talk about their issues), he was also forced onto the "next heir" role, by default. so...the reluctant heir with badly managed anger issues

Yonji awakened his emotions not long after Ichiji escaped with Sanji and became Judge's next favorite victim. with the exception of Sanji, Yonji couldn't manifest a power of his own and Judge decided to "fix it" by taking away his arms and hands, replacing them with cybernetics. this event shattered his perception of Judge, whom Yonji truly believed loved them for being perfect. as an adult, Yonji is more subdued, but he still believes that if he performs every task perfectly, Judge might accept him despite his "flaw" (aka, his emotions)

Sanji isn't very clued on what's going on, since he's dealing with his own issues. but Ichiji, who's been there as prisoner weeks before him, has found out what's really going on and tells Luffy, once he manages to overcome his own Trauma Fest 2.0™

and that's why Luffy decides that all of Sanji's siblings should be free and do whatever they want.

Whole Cake goes just as in canon, with the exception that Ichiji is a straw hat pirate and manages to flee onboard the Sunny along with his captain and crew. Judge does his usual bullshit speech, as a last chance to not only get under Sanji's skin, but also shames Ichiji for being weak like his mother, chosing his "inferior" brother before Germa's glory and calls him a traitor.

of course, Luffy interprents this as the good things about Ichiji; he's clever, kind, puts his family first and decided to be free.

once they've got Germa and Whole Cake far behind themselves, it's finally revealed what happened to Reiju, Niji and Yonji

they're been hiding in the Sunny's cargo hold, in barrels with fish to avoid detection from Germa's technology. Niji was less happy about it while Yonji just casually remarked that he now knows what raw fish smells like.

now free from Germa's hold, Reiju (after being treated to a nice bubble bath with Nami) thanks Luffy and the straw hats for liberating her and her "silly" little brothers. she warns them that it won't take Judge long time to realize that he's been fully abandoned and will chase her, Niji and Yonji unless they can find a safe place where no one can find them.

so in short, they join on the trip to Wano and once it's liberated from Kaido, they will figure out what to do with their new free lives.

i can tell you already now that Yonji will join the Revolutionary Army, because i think that's very much in his range. in his perspective; World Government is shit, the Marines are shit, the Nobles are shit and especially Germa is shit. so why not fight for absolute freedom? also he's kinda a cyborg (against his will), so that works out.

Yonji: viva the revolution! :D

i have no plan about what Niji will do, though. suggestions are welcome.

as for Reiju, i say she should try to find her mother's real homeland (I refuse to believe Sora is from the North Blue and I headcanon that she was a princess from another kingdom) and live the best life, like the queen she is. :3
