The way you phrased things suggests that other species can and do become gods outside of the three "ponies". Jokes about Hubble the space giraffe aside, I was wondering as soon as you mentioned it: was Baobab once a giraffe, themself? Or were they a pony or some other equine, since the ponies at least also have really long necks once ascending into godhood, and Baobab themself is implied to be much, much older, and hence, larger, than the other gods?
Are they something that perhaps does not exist on the planet any longer? Would a quagga have any reason to go extinct in this world? Other giraffids? Perhaps an antelope? Maybe even an early equine ancestor, whatever came before the "ponies" and their relatives, from whom most (if not all) descend? idk man thinking about it is just kind of Interesting
Boabab was, as best as we can figure, a giraffe, and they are indeed much larger than Celestia. but they are also so old and beyond mortals, that it is much closer to think of Boabab as a tree, or a forest, or a continent, than a person.
"it" is somewhat more appropriate than "they" at this point in time, due to the abstract nature of Boabab's mind, and the complete lack of movement.
Boabab, The Boabab, The Tree/Trees, and Life are all appropriate names for the entity. No connection at all to swamp fever, a disease much younger than when Boabab's legs settled into the earth and became one with the land.
In equestria, there are many sentient creatures besides ponies, but they make up a minority due to pony colonialism and in some cases, settler genocide. Mane-ifest Destiny is a toxic concept still taught to most Equestrian foals today. Buffalo, cows, kirin, and donkeys exist, but in smaller numbers than ponies.
On the Africa-like continent, "people" consist of many species. Zebras, giraffes, antelope, water buffalo, wildebeasts, elephants, etc. Zebras are not the most populous group, and don't think of themselves as better than the other species, but often find Equestrian diplomats assume they are the rulers. Touring ponies will often ignore their giraffe tour guide to talk to an unqualified zebra citizen passing by. It can be irritating and humiliating. But that's what you get when casual pony supremacy is the norm.
There are other countries where the main sentient race are dragons, griffins, seaponies, hippogriffs, yaks, zebus, camels, and more.

I wanna get to know more about cod but idk where to start.
When I was younger I new of cod,but I wasn’t really into it.As I never had a console, (I was a wii kid 😭) my parents wouldn’t allow me to play those types of games.
but now that I’m older I joined the fandom a bit late and I wanna know where to start like what comics? I need to read, what game I should play first or watch a gameplay of etc
hi anon! thank you so much for asking :) it is a little daunting when you first look at it (especially with so many games, there's over 20+). i would recommend playing these/watching the gameplay in this order and i included some of the extra content where it fits with the games. the wiki is also a great source for information. here's a little timeline for you! this is primarily focusing on the cod: modern warfare series.
Tumblr media
so what most people want to know is where to start if you're interested in the modern warfare story (with price, gaz. ghost, and simon). call of duty is separated into 4 different arcs: world war ii, modern warfare, black ops, and standalone games. as such it doesn't matter what order you play the overall games but within each category, they are mostly released with extra content in order
the initial games (2007-2011) what started it all for the reboots! the story has all the familiar faces but a different story! this includes soap and price having a stronger dynamic (as oppose to the reboot's Price/Gaz and Soap/Ghost). the timeline of the characters are also different compared to the reboot as you'll see throughout the games (this includes major events and character deaths). we follow Captain Price and his Taskforce 141 as they fight through various enemies and try to save the world. there is also more of an emphasis on joint missions (and playable characters) from the US military and federal agencies. there are also more playable characters (Sgt. Paul Jackson, Sgt. Gary "Roach" Sanderson, PFC Joseph Allen and James Ramirez, Yuri, SSG Derek "Frost" Westbrook, and Sgt. Marcus Burns). overall summaries: suggestive gaming | the leaderboard (timeline) price and soap's story: inkslasher
Soap's Journal from the Hardened Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - 2011 part of the collector's edition for MW3, this 80+ page book details soap's pov for various events happening prior to the first game and through the last game. this includes military sketches, diagrams, and written entries from soap. soap's journal
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - 2007 gameplay: gamingabsolute | gamer's little playground (only cutscenes)
Modern Warfare 2: Ghost - 2009 my post summary | the comic simon's story explained: inkslasher
Modern Warfare 2 - 2009 shameless promo here but this is my favorite game in the whole series! gameplay: mkiceandfire | gamer's little playground (only cutscenes)
Modern Warfare 3 - 2011 gameplay: nrmwalkthroughhd | gamer's little playground (only cutscenes)
the reboot (2019-2023) while sharing the same name/characterization as some of the characters in the initial series (including Price, Soap, Gaz, Ghost, Nikolai, Makarov, and General Shepherd), this story line is different from the initial series. instead of having many separate missions, it primarily follows Cpt. Price's Taskforce 141 and their allies, Laswell + Alex from the CIA, Urzik's rebel leader Farah Karim, Colonel Alejandro Vargas and SGM Rodlfo "Rudy" Parra, Nikolai, and PMC Commander Graves. the dynamics have changed in the game with the games focusing on Price and Gaz (+ Alex, Laswell, and Farah), then Soap and Ghost (+ Los Vaqueros and Graves).
Modern Warfare - 2019 gameplay: tmartn2 | shirrako (only cutscenes) summary: suggestive gaming | gamespot
Warzone - 2019 this six season battle royale style video game includes many of the characters from the main game. there are also various stories at align with the narratives in Modern Warfare, Black Ops, and Vanguard. summary: inkslasher
Modern Warfare II - 2022 gameplay: gamer's little playground | adguideshd (only cutscenes) summary: mrroflwaffles
Modern Warfare III - 2023 to be released in november

Faced with the world's impending freshwater scarcity, a team of researchers in Singapore turned to solar steam generators (SSGs), which are emerging as a promising device for seawater desalination. Desalination can be a costly, energy-intensive solution to water scarcity. This renewable-powered approach mimics the natural water cycle by using the sun's energy to evaporate and isolate water. However, the technology is limited by the need to fabricate complex topologies to increase the surface area necessary to achieve high water evaporation efficiency. To overcome this barrier, the team sought design inspiration from trees and harnessed the potential of 3D printing. In Applied Physics Reviews, the team presents a state-of-the-art technology for producing efficient SSGs for desalination and introduces a novel method for printing functional nanocomposites for multi-jet fusion (MJF).

Saiyan AU
So just how destructive was the fight against All For One and King Piccolo? Because Inko underwent the transformation into the Legendary Super Saiyan during this fight. A form that, when Broly used it, caused widespread destruction in an already destructive battle.
Now admittedly, Broly was fighting againsy Goku and Vegeta in SSG and SSB forms before they fused into Gogeta. But even without the destruction caused by fighting against those forms, the LSS form is still very destructive.
Also, on a related note, what was Coli’s reaction to the fact that her daughter was the Legendary Super Saiyan?
Don't forget that the characters in this AU are all at Pre-Z levels because they've never encountered a threat that required that level of training. So while Inko's transformation was intense and destructive, it wasn't literally world-shaking.
Coli didn't actually believe the legends because they're, you know, legends. She figured it was an exaggeration of particularly skilled warriors, like how Alexander became known as The Great. And then she felt Inko's transformation. The Ki expert in her was delighted, and she was proud of that power but worried about where it came from

I can’t imagine what it would be like for some of the older ponies in SSG’s present. Like imagine growing up with the unquestioned millennia-long status quo of 1 Alicorn (with perhaps a 2nd as a mythological boogeyman connected to some traditions like Nightmare Night) and suddenly there are 6 of them walking around, depending on when Sunset and Sunburst become culturally relevant.
At this rate, someone is going to ascend as the god of generational mental breakdowns.
It all sort of coalesced around nightmare moon's release. A thousand years after her banishment, she was due to escape. In preparation for this, celestia made way for the ascent of the goddess of love, thinking she could harness the elements of harmony. When that didn't work, celestia chose a new pupil, one who ached for friendship
But time passed faster than she realized, and when she looked back, suddenly her "filly of friendship" was a reclusive bookworm with no freiends, and no way to interact with the elements.
Quick uhh. send her to the friendship capital of the world and hope that Ponyville can make its mark before it's too late.
Later, celestia ascends twilight, raising the alicorn number to 4.
Sunburst is over there in the closest hiding his wings, flurry heart is born with them, and sunset shimmer has something bizarre going on.
it's a very strange time to experience, going from one goddess to so many.
But seldom is change easy. It is often slow and subtle, but sometimes extreme and sudden. Sometimes it's a revolution.

I wanted to read some more opinions and just see what the EN fandom consensus on Emerald Beyond is looking like, and I don't know what to think.
Someone had a good personal review of sorts, and they pretty much voiced my thoughts and really nailed down some of what was bugging me, but I couldn't quite figure out. And someone else who felt similarly disappointed in EB likened it to "baby's first SaGa." And I don't remember if I said it here before, but I really feel that way about this game, but they didn't actually accomplish that. It feels like they wanted this game to be for newbies when it comes to the battle system, but everything else about the game is too weak to sell it to newbies, and the site reviews I see always say it's great for series vets but a hard sell for newbies, and I agree to an extent but also find that terrible. If this was supposed to highlight the series' highs, it failed, but it certainly showcases the lows.
The initial commenter mentioned the graphics and budget, and I'm actually very pressed about the art direction for this game. I don't even think the graphics are atrocious, but the character models are so boring and drab, they tell me nothing of the world and do nothing interesting. A handful of the party/playable characters are interesting and that's it. How did they reuse assets from SSG and still not come out as impressive? Even compared to older games, at least there was better diversity in designs of NPCs, but they're so boring here.
And I can't stop comparing it to older games in terms of how boring and unengaging the storylines are to me. That's combined with the world being so boring because of the choices being so empty most of the time, and I'm glad others felt that way too. They tried to hype it up as "free choice" and "open world," but it's actually so frustratingly linear. And I hate that the choices rarely make a difference, sometimes even within one playthrough. Often, it's just a choice of "do you battle right now or not," and that's silly. And it bugs me that people accept that, or are just being ignorant about what lackluster treatment they're being given.
Emerald Beyond really is fun at times. I love Diva, Formina, Bonnie and Siugnas. But the game as a whole is just so dry. I don't get how they back-tracked so hard from SSG? Or even Frontier, which is decades older and on lesser tech. I really think there were other ways to go, and it's sad that devs can't find a better middle-ground.
Like, would we really have lost much if we count down the amount of worlds, made them more fleshed out individually in terms of graphics/presentation and given more interaction? We couldn't have Frontier with fewer worlds and slightly upgraded models? I really do wonder what the budget for the game looked like, but also the team and what resources they were given. Is the game like this because of lack of planning, or is it that they really weren't given a budget to work with? It's sad because either way, it has hurt the sales and probably, has hurt the future of the series. I like EB well enough, but I don't love it, and I think I'd rather waited for a better game than take EB as it is.

In Search of Yamoshi
Tumblr media
So I got this response to my liveblog of DBS Episode 37, where I floated the idea that the Saiyans of Universe 6 represent a scenario where the “good” Saiyans defeated the “evil” Saiyans in ancient times.  And because of that outcome, there were never any Super Saiyans in Universe 6, because their version of Yamoshi never became a martyr and never inspired the legends of Super Saiyan or Super Saiyan God.
My (fuzzy) understanding of this business was that Toriyama identified the original Super Saiyan God as a Saiyan named “Yamoshi”, and stated that Yamoshi also became the first Super Saiyan as well.  I thought there was something about how his spirit haunts the Saiyan race, causing other Saiyans to go Super Saiyan every thousand years.   My point was that none of this must have happened in Universe 6, since Cabba has never heard of Super Saiyans until he sees Goku and Vegeta use the form.
To this, @iamthenight2001 replied: “You’ve got the Yamoshi thing backward - he never went God himself, he just went Super Saiyan after his five comrades died, then his spirit is what triggers the God transformation when the ritual is used.”
Tumblr media
And at first glance, this seemed... wrong?  But there’s so many different interpretations of the Yamoshi concept that I wanted to do some fact-checking before I responded.  And there’s a lot of primary sources to look at, since there were three different versions of the Battle of Gods story, plus the interview where Toriyama described Yamoshi.  So it seemed like this would be a good reason to just put everything together in one post for easy comparison.  Let’s see if we can get to the bottom of this.
1. Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods (2013)
Let’s start with the movie, which introduced the Super Saiyan God as a concept.  I feel like I’ve gone over the plot of this thing a dozen times, but the short version is that Beerus has a premonition of a worthy opponent called a “Super Saiyan God”, and he spends the whole movie trying to find one, or provoke Goku or Vegeta into becoming one.  Instead, Goku uses the Dragon Balls to ask Shenron for more information, and Shenron explains that the SSG is a transformation achieved through a ritual.
Tumblr media
In the movie, Shenron says:
"A Super Saiyan God is a savior, created by chance by a handful of righteous Saiyans, who long ago questioned the evil acts of their fellow Saiyans, and led a revolt against them.  This savior had immense power, and dispatched the evil Saiyans in no time at all, but shortly thereafter, they returned to normal, with their power apparently used up.
"Once again, Planet Vegeta became a world of evil Saiyans, and the savior was also eliminated from their legends.  This vanished legend goes... "'five Saiyans who possess righteous hearts join hands, and by instilling light into another righteous Saiyan, they will become a Saiyan god.'"
------------------------------------
2. Dragon Ball Super Episode 9 (2015)
Tumblr media
This is just a retelling of the movie scene, but in this version Shenron doesn’t go into nearly as much detail.  He only explains how to make a Super Saiyan God, without discussing the tale of the Saiyan who first used the ritual.
“The Namekian Book of Legends states the following: ‘When five Saiyans of righteous hearts join hands and pour their spirits into another righteous Saiyan, he shall become the God of Saiyans.’  In other words, a Super Saiyan God.”
-----------------------------------
3. Dragon Ball Super manga, chapter 4 (2015)
Tumblr media
Nothing much here, as this scene only gets one panel.  Shenron explains what a Super Saiyan God is and how to make one, but that’s it.
------------------------------------------------
4. Akira Toriyama Interview, Saikyō Jump, January 2018 issue (December 1, 2017)
In this interview, Toriyama answers various questions about the Saiyans.  You can read the whole thing by clicking the link above, but I want to focus on the parts about Super Saiyans and the Super Saiyan God.
Q: Can anyone become a Super Saiyan if they train?
A: It’s not like anyone can become a Super Saiyan through training and anger. In order to become a Super Saiyan, one’s body must contain something called “S-Cells”. Once these S-Cells reach a certain amount, a trigger such as anger will explosively increase the S-Cells and cause a change in the body; that’s Super Saiyan. Most Saiyans have some S-Cells, although not a great quantity. The reason why Goku and Vegeta’s children can become Super Saiyan relatively easily is probably because to a certain extent they inherited a lot of S-Cells, and also because Earth’s environment is gentler and easier to live in than Planet Vegeta.
Q: And how does one increase S-Cells to become Super Saiyan?
A: Having a gentle spirit is the best way to greatly increase one’s S-Cells, but most Saiyans have trouble with this, which I think is why no Super Saiyans appeared for such a long time that they became the stuff of legend. However, one can’t reach the quantity necessary for becoming a Super Saiyan simply by having a gentle spirit, so a certain amount of battle power is indeed necessary. Looked at in this light, it’s easy to see why becoming a Super Saiyan came easy for Goku.
Q: Was the “legendary Super Saiyan” Freeza feared the Super Saiyan God that appeared in Battle of Gods?
A: In a certain sense, they are the same person. That is to say, very long ago, before Planet Vegeta was the Saiyans’ planet, there was a man named Yamoshi who had a righteous heart despite being a Saiyan. He and his five comrades started a rebellion, but he was cornered by combatants and became a Super Saiyan for the first time, though his transformation and fearsome fighting style shocked the other Saiyans. Outnumbered, Yamoshi eventually wore himself out and was defeated, but this was only the beginning of his legend. Afterwards, Yamoshi’s spirit wandered in continuous search of six righteous-hearted Saiyans, seeking a new savior: Super Saiyan God.
--------------------------------------------------------
So the 2017 interview is probably what iamthenight2001 was referring to.   According to Toriyama’s response here, Yamoshi was a Super Saiyan (though not explicitly the first), who fought evil Saiyans but was defeated.  His spirit searches for six righteous Saiyans presumably because that would resemble his own team of six rebels.  I guess the implication is that when he finds six righteous Saiyans, he “blesses” them by allowing one of their number to become a Super Saiyan God.
But that doesn’t fit with what Shenron said in the movie.  Let’s go over that part again.
“A Super Saiyan God is a savior, created by chance by a handful of righteous Saiyans, who long ago questioned the evil acts of their fellow Saiyans, and led a revolt against them.  This savior had immense power, and dispatched the evil Saiyans in no time at all, but shortly thereafter, they returned to normal, with their power apparently used up.”
Shenron speaks of the Righteous Six as having created their own savior by chance.  The implication is that they invented the ritual, and turned their leader, Yamoshi, into a Super Saiyan God.  And Yamoshi made good use of the new power, but then reverted to normal, which is what happens to Goku in the movie.
I don’t object to Yamoshi being both a Super Saiyan and a Super Saiyan God.  It actually makes a lot of sense that he was a Super Saiyan first.  He must have needed more power than he could muster in that form, which lead him to discovering the ritual.   And it also explains the name.  If Yamoshi had already made a name for himself as a Super Saiyan, then what would they call his even stronger form?  “Super Saiyan God” fits the bill.
But I can’t buy into Yamoshi just being an ancient Super Saiyan who merely inspired the ritual.  The problem is that this doesn’t add up, because it means some other band of righteous Saiyans would have to discover the ritual and make a Super Saiyan God for the first time.  Which wouldn’t be a big deal, except that’s not what Shenron said in the movie.  He said a Super Saiyan God was a savior created by six righteous Saiyans who rebelled against evil.  And after their savior was defeated, the evil Saiyans flourished and suppressed the tale.  No one else would have come along later to invent the ritual.  And even if there had been a group like that, then Shenron would have said so, because he was explaining how the ritual originated.  He would have talked about that group, instead of the group who inspired them.
I don’t want to disrespect Toriyama or the people who translated the interview, but his answer just doesn’t gel with the dialogue in the film, which presumably was also supplied by Toriyama.  This would be like Herman Melville doing an interview where he says Moby Dick is a giant squid.  It’s not about whether he’s right or wrong, it’s about the fact that he wrote a whole book that states that Moby Dick is a whale. Past a point, not even the author can contradict the text.
Nonetheless, I’ll admit that this is all open to fan interpretation.  The way I see it, the guy doesn’t have to be named Yamoshi.  Until they actually put the character in a comic or animation, he’s just a name Toriyama made up on the spot.  But it’s handy to have something to call the guy.
And if you like the version in the interview better, I can’t fault you for that.  Maybe Shenron got the details mixed up.  It’s an ancient, forgotten story, and just because Shenron knows the story doesn’t mean the version he knows is completely accurate, or even literal.
I guess I just made up the part where I thought Yamoshi’s ghost communes with Legendary Super Saiyans.  That sounds like somethng I would have come up with, honestly, but I was pretty sure I read that in the interview.  Oh well.
And of course, the Dragon Ball Wiki has thoroughly convinced itself that Yamoshi is the Golden Ape Vegeta imagined in Dragon Ball Z Episode 66.  I wouldn’t object to this either, except it doesn’t make sense, because that would mean there was only one Super Saiyan before Goku, which means there’s no way for anyone to believe that a new one would arise every thousand years.  But the DB Wiki still lists Yamoshi’s first appearance in the anime as DBZ Episode 66.   Well, they can believe what they want to believe.

Anyone else just wondering how Super's going to lead into the End of Z?
I think it's just the power scaling escalating and escalating that's irking me about how this will nicely package into the End of Z. I mean, power scaling is at deity heights, then we're just expected to have Goku be still fixated on Majin Buu's reincarnation. They're still training on Beerus's world by Super Hero which is very down to the wire close to End of Z, we've got about a year tops in canon timeline left. Does this mean that Goku's going to train Uub with Beerus?
Honestly, I really like the bliss and peace of End of Z and how Goku is still down to Earth; he's got Super Saiyan 3 at max when we only have the OG context. But Super's escalation of power supposedly lying underneath the most chill Goku at your average Earth tournament just muddles the vibe a bit. Only way to restore that vibe would have them giving up on the SSG+ tier powers, maybe some revelation about honing their Saiyan selves. A sacrifice to live a normal (well, normal adjacent) life. There's a reason why my (obviously now debunked) end of Tournament of Power predictions back in 2018 had an idea of Goku giving up Ultra Instinct so it wouldn't become gimmicky and super frequent (Goku now having it at will in the manga kinda makes my blood boil a bit).
If this does happen, I feel like the manga will have them take out Black Frieza first. I have a hunch that the anime's taking a different path than the manga, so there's less of a current threat required to hurdle for the timeline's passage into a peaceful end tournament.
And then they reboot Dragon Ball GT /j
