#stages of gardening

Good Day everyone!

I hope everyone's been able to get time to work on their garden, homestead, self sufficient or sustainable journey this week!

This week I got around to making yeast bread and stock broth 🥳 I also got around to planting some beans (bush variety) kale and chard.

The carrots are in full swing of flowering!

Honestly it's hard to pick which stage is my favorite stage, cause they all are beautiful!

The suprise pumpkin has a lil pumpkin forming :) and plenty of flowers on it too.

There's a few buggies too, but I'm not overly worried about this particular bug. If ants or squash bugs show up then I'll be worried.

Some Armenian cucumbers popping up and sprouting.

Of the 2 peppers, one is going nuts with fruit, the other has just started getting flowers.

Planted some kale and chard~

Also! The onions I planted form store sprouted onion have gotten a little flower stalk!

And one last picture, I found a lil spider (I think it's a green crab spider) among the mind and flowers.

Microsoft is putting its foot down when it comes to unauthorized controller use. The company has begun banning any third-party Xbox controllers and accessories that aren't part of the "designed for Xbox" hardware partner program.

Wow, what a great move, microsoft... I bet all the disabled people out there who rely on custom-made third-party controllers will just looooove this change...

Or the fighting game community who like to custom build their own fighting pads...

Or the hardcore racing game players who build custom steering wheel setups and whatnot...

Or just the people who can't afford to dish out $70 for an "official" controller.

Or pretty much anyone who doesn't use one of your controllers for whatever reason...

Well anyway, in conclusion:

i know a lot of people are trying to put ivan and till's relationship and feelings into a clearer perspective but i think yall r forgetting that like. they were put into anact garden as children. their whole lives theyve only known other children and alien overlords. theyve probably never had an adult human to look up to. its only natural that the relationships they have with each other exceed the titles and definitions we're used to, because the conditions of their lives are fundamentally different than ours.

A few days ago, I had a weird dream about Alien Stage. In one part, Luka was driving me to school, but turns out he's a terrible driver. (We almost crashed)

In another part of the dream, some fan made a weird meme that I can best describe as "analog horror pizza commercial" featuring the Alien Stage cast. Because of how silly this dream was.

learning that rollo eats the same lunch (16 grapes, 2 croissants, 1 café au lait) every day is so funny to me. he’s so cute. T-T rollo, please eat a feast. you deserve it. why limit yourself to the same thing over and over?

also his voice line where he invites you to check out the mostro lounge with him. saying, “i like cafés. shall we take a look?” casually asking you out on a date…… rollo, you’re exceptionally cute.

random aspect about alnst characters that I find interesting: Till is suprisingly good at quite a few things??? He draws well, writes his own music presumably while locked up without his instrument, can sing, plays the flute (recorder?) and the guitar??? I know it's probably just a few things but in an environment where they're quite strict with your behavior and train you specifically on one thing (singing), I think it's pretty impressive.

Needing a Sua perspective from the ALNST auditions to Round 1. I never put much thought into what happens to the cast post-Anakt Garden graduation (do they immediately go to the auditions? Is there a period of time where they dont see each other until they recognize each other at the audition? Theres a considerable amount of time between the auditions and their Alien Stage season, did they see each other often between then or...? etc.), but regardless, imagine being her and having to choose between sabotaging your own audition so you dont have to go the the Sing, Win, or Die Show or putting your in your all in hopes of winning and spending just a bit more time with this girl you love because you know itll likely be the last time you see her. Imagine...

pt III the wedding dress: crowley's shirt's ruffles (the brainrot is in terminal stages only palliative care is possible now)

OKAY. I'M SORRY FOR NOT POSTING FOR A WHILE BUT I AM HERE MAGGOTS (WHILE YOU'RE ALL BEING SO FUCKING LOVELY AND AMAZING ON THE COLLEGE POST WHICH TERRIFIES ME).

The last update was the shirt (everything related to aziracrow wedding brainrot is on my blog with the tag weirdly the nightingales wed) and I talked so long about the shirt and the Regency influences and the Jane Austen part that I realised I'd need a separate post for the ruffles. So. Here we are.

THE RUFFLES OVERVIEW: I spent too much time on this, but let's go. The ruffles were taken from that 1805-10 Regency evening gown that inspired the entire neckline, and they're the same material, muslin. They're overlaid with Alencon lace, the reason for which shall be stated below. I stopped the ruffles at the edge of the square neckline rather than going around the neck because given how the coat will be buttoned, it's not necessary and would just add bulk. For the same reason the ruffles would be sewn down at the edge with a French seam (it won't add lines to the silhouette or bulk, a maggot recommended that stitch) to prevent it from getting displaced.

THE LACE OVERVIEW: Oh, the fucking lace. Okay. So, this part of the dress was supposed to represent Shakespeare's time, the Edwardian era, from the Shakespeare/Hamlet scene in the season 1 episode 3 cold open. So I wanted to choose a lace that was popular in England at that time. I looked up the types of laces and their history, and found that Alencon lace best suited my purposes. It is the most popular lace for wedding dresses now. The lace would have motifs of birds (nightingales), leaves (Crowley's plants), angel wings (self-explanatory) and flowers (traditional for this lace).

THE NICE AND ACCURATE HISTORY: Ah, textile trade in the Edwardian era, exactly how I thought I'd be using my brainpower in the year of our Lord and Saviour Bildaddy 2024. Okay, the reason I chose Alencon lace was that during the end of the 16th century (which was around the time when Hamlet was written, 1599-1601, a direct reference to the episode), French lace was most popular in England. There were other popular lace imports, from Belgium, italy etc, as well as lace made in Devon (which wasn't as popular), but Queen Elizabeth had maintained ties with the French court and used lace on her gowns and that's how lace became fashionable. So I picked French lace.

Now the other types of French lace, Chantily lace and Argentan lace, weren't invented at the time Hamlet was written, so I was left with Alencon. The wedding thing was a bonus, honestly. Alencon lace originated in France in the 16th century, was called "Queen of Lace" and was a luxury. I do believe Aziraphale of the infamous I have standards would approve.

Soooooo. There you have it. The detailed real history behind the real lace on the ruffles of a fictional character's fictional dress for their fictional wedding that's not canon.

*contemplates life choices* Well, this isn't the very worst choice I've made, at least.
