Man, the way he actually had a really awful day the first time round, and just wanted to not have fucked up everything, but now he's not willing to accept any life that isn't absolutely perfect, is Such Complicated Emotions! I wonder how long he can pretend he's actually happy like this, in his serene world where he knows exactly what will make everyone around him stop bothering him and only have emotions he's comfortable with

And the way the first time round ended makes so much sense of why this specific interaction with his wife is the one he *needs* to be perfect on, feels terrified of messing up, feels so scared of ever leaving the loop and experiencing a difficult conversation with her where he doesn't know exactly what to say.

This was a very funny misconception to come into the story with
