#stop simping for terrorists

So, this is something I've been sitting on for a good while. Mainly because I got too heated each time to write a post about it.

On the 7th of February 2024, France organized a memorial service for the Franco-Israeli killed in the 7/10 attack. That was a good thing but, like many people in France, I personnally felt that it was a bit late. Still, better a memorial service than nothing at all. A nice touch was inviting the famillies of hostages and putting them front and center. That was positive, in my opinion, and a good show of solidarity.

So, you might be wondering what about this has me heated. Two words : Far left. or, in three words : La France Insoumise. LFI is a far left party that has a worrying amount of weight in France, right now. They have some of the common hallmarks : revolution fetishism, radicalist talking points, repeated attempts to delegitimize the election system (like Mélenchon claiming the 2022 presidential election was "stolen" when he ranked 3rd), etc... Recently they have also refused to condemn Hamas' attack. While they didn't openly support it like some fring trotskyist parties, they refused to condemn it, and at least one of their PMs went to Tunisia to basically parrot Islamist talking points blaming Israel for everything. They have overwhelmingly expressed support for "Palestinian liberation", because saying they support Hamas wouldn't be good press, so they skirt around it. But everyone gets the message, really. So, what did they do for that memorial service ? Well first off they participated against the wishes of the famillies of the victims and hostages. That's bad, but it gets worse. Because of course. See, their main representative in Parliament, Mathilde Panot, felt the need to also put front and center Palestinian victims. Now, I do believe Palestinian victims of this war should be remembered, and honored (provided they weren't terrorists). But ... is the memorial fro the 7/10 victims really the place ? No, no it fucking isn't. And that's what has me heated : this was a memorial for Jewish victims, and they were looking to appropriate it. And it gets even worse ! Because you see, Miss Panot had the perfect exemple : two Franco-Palestinian kids from her constituency that had died in Gaza. Why is that worse ? Because of why the kids were there. They were there because their mother fled to Gaza, from ISIS, after embezzeling money meant for Syrian refugees. Let me rephrase : the mother created a charity to support the victims of the Syrian civil war and of ISIS attacks, then made off with the money to deliver it entirely to ISIS. Then had kids with her ISIS assigned jihadi husband. And when ISIS collapsed, she sought refuge with Hamas. And because of that, her kids were in harm's way when Hamas launched a pogrom. And LFI thought that THIS was the correct exemple to bring to that memorial service. Is it tragic the kids died ? Yes. But maybe, just maybe, putting their terrorism enabling mother up as an exemple of martyred mother, during a memorial for the victims of an antisemitic pogrom perpetrated by said terrorism enabler's allies is a profoundly shitty thing to do. And that, among other things, is why most of France considers LFI to be antisemitic.

Talk About Sensitivity In The COD Fandom **Important.**

Hey, everyone. After the reveal of Makarov in the trailer (as well as general concern), I think a chat about sensitivity is important. Since the trailer’s release, I have seen a major increase in simping for Makarov posts as well as genuine romanticization of Russia and/or Russian Soldiers. First, I want to talk about the romanticization of Russia and/or Russian soldiers because it’s seriously getting out of hand. I need you guys to realize that Russia is an ultranationalist country and yes, maybe not everyone who lives there believes what their government does, but it’s important to know a big portion of their population does. I have seen multiple posts and edits of this man right here (pictures below).

THIS GUY IS NOT SOMEONE YOU SHOULD LIKE, AND PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT HE DOES NOT LIKE YOU. This is one of the most popular Russian Soldiers amongst the internet due to the way he wears a mask, gear, has an accent, and is buff. He makes videos teaching soldiers how to kill people—innocent people in Ukraine who are just trying to survive. I have seen people straight up ignore when someone tells them what this man has done, so let me put it this way—he does not like you. He wants you dead. He is racist, a homophobe, transphobe, antisemitic, etc. He absolutely hates The West, and he does not like you unless you are a cis, straight, white 100% Russian. Even if you’re a woman, he DOES NOT LIKE YOU. If you American, HE DOES NOT WANT YOU ALIVE.

[This part is not targeted; just a general statement.] Second; there is a serious problem with how you guys address Makarov as a character. There is absolutely no problem enjoying him as a villain because I do too, but you guys have to realize that Makarov is an ultranationalist—which is exactly what Russia is right now, an ultranationalist terrorist state. “But he’s fictional, it doesn’t matter! it’s not that deep!” It actually is that deep. I keep seeing content for Makarov and I can’t force anyone to stop making “fluffy fics”, but I need y’all to have some fucking decency towards victims and people affected by the war. I know people who are affected by the war who feel ill seeing posts painting Makarov in a good light. If you are going to write Makarov, do NOT romanticize him as a character—do NOT paint him a decent or good light, because you can’t. Write him like the bastard he is. And no, this isn’t a “let people write what they wanna write” situation. You can do that, but please be expected to be judged and blocked by me and many others. Makarov is quite literally the characterization of everything that is wrong with Russia, and what HAS been wrong with Russia. Makarov is not a bad boy, a rebel, etc, he’s a fucking terrorist. Please be for real. “But the military in general is bad, so why does it matter specifically around Makarov?” Please see above my previous reasons. Thanks.

The overall message of this point is to be fucking respectful. There are actual people dying and slaughtered for no reason other than ruined pride and a lot of Ukrainian folk seek comfort and distractions in the internet and their fandoms. This ruins it for them and quite frankly, sometimes how Makarov is being written? It’s completely insensitive. and here we are, in a post Oct. 7th world, where people look a massacre of Jews, and say the exact same thing. justifying undescribable acts of violence by saying "well these noble savages Palestinians had endured 75 years of genocide (wrong) apartheid (wrong) and ethnic cleansing (also wrong)! their response is understandable! I don't condone their violence, but something had to be done." and you get people simping for actual extremist terrorist organisations, marching around while parroting calls for genocide, and repeating words to make them sound educated on a conflict they only know about from social media posts.

yes, the systems are unfair and cruel and social justice needs to be achieved. but you can't turn a blind eye or actively condone horrific acts that are done in the name of that cause. speaking against it won't make you the "movie protagonist™", you HAVE to speak up against it if you want to work towards a peaceful future.

Makarov took a woman, specifically a not white woman, and tied a bomb to her and tried to frame her as a suicide bomber because she was a middle eastern woman. This was on purpose. He used that she wasn't white and that there are stereotypes around her against her. She was texting her family.

He used a gas that melted people's skin. He killed so many people with said gas.

Makarov planned to use said gas on missiles that would lead to Farah to frame her and her country as terrorists. His response to being told innocents would die was "there are no innocents." He's a fucking edgelord. In his utopia, it's nothing but white Russians and this is not an opinion or interpretation. His goal is extermination.

Graves killed a bunch of narcos, dirty cops and the people that got in the way of him getting to Hassan (a man who fully intended on starting a world war). I still think what he did was terrible, don't get me wrong, but Shepherd says plainly that Graves is a dog with a bone. His goal was Hassan. He had a target and he'd get it. That's his job. He had an order so he was following it. His goal is getting paid.

Graves also worked with Farah to help her stop the war in her country. Despite betraying them, Price, Ghost, Gaz and Soap are willing to at least talk with him. They interact. There has never been a more plainly stated metaphor of the lesser of two evils.

Look, the actor is attractive, but if you can over look everything he did, I just... I don't know man. Maybe get laid so you can think with something besides your libido.

I tried to be, and I still try to be to MOST fans, but I have limits and I have lines. I know it's probably been obvious, but I've really drawn back from being socially active in the fandom. I take stands, occasionally, but for the most part, I just block and move on. My block list on tiktok is long, because if I don't like content, I block rather than get upset.

I don't really look at my home page, anymore. Going onto AO3 hits me with so many (niche and specific to me) triggers in a day, that my reason for not reading others' works has shifted from, even though I'm working on managing it, my Dyslexia to just being unable to navigate my own triggers. This isn't anyone's fault, it's mine.

If I'm being honest? My mental health is in the dumpster and while this has a wide variety of reasons, if I can protect it in any way I can, I will. And if this includes having to tell a certain group of fans that they're not welcome on my blog? Unfortunately, that's what has to happen.

I'm not a stranger to fandom wars, as stupid as I think they are, I'm not a stranger to the aggression that happens here. And I have, definitely, been on the other side a few times. My first proper introduction to fandom was Supernatural and FNAF. I STILL deal with seeing posts talking about how a ship I didn't ship is superior to one I do ship for no fucking reason. I understand liking a character, and I understand having villain characters that you still like and love, and I can appreciate the "he's my precious pookie bear and does nothing wrong" mindset to a certain extent.

But I think ignoring Makarov's actions, even if he's a fictional character, even if it's just a game, is ignorant, in today's climate. A prime example of why I cannot get behind it is Russian Terminator. I have... so many reasons I can go through why this man is just awful, but my wife is slightly more educated, so I'll let her take the reigns on that one if she wants. However, he sucks. Objectively. But because he's masked and ripped, I see so many edits of him. So many.

I see people call themselves his "simps" and actively ignore and block those who try to point out his horrific actions and opinions and views and values to them. This man is not a fictional character. He's a real person.

I have always been a huge advocate for "live and let live" in fandom spaces. To an extent that even my wife and I get into arguments over it. My only limit seems to be pedophilia, for personal reasons. And I am not telling you to stop writing Makarov. I'm not even telling you not to find him hot. You can giggle and kick your feet when he "activates your praise kink" in the first mission, I don't care I won't stop you.

But I don't want that in my own space. I protect my peace. This ranges from silly things that just bother me (pricegraves) to big things like this. As my wife stated, Graves committed war crimes. Yes. He killed civilians, and that's inexcusable. But, I feel like this is comparing a passion killing, to systematic murder. Graves would have committed those crimes in any country, but the US. France, England, pretty much any country he could have gotten away with it.

Makarov targeted a country of Arabic people, because he knew about the aggression and islamophobia that exists in the west. He knew that if he pulled some strings a little, he could very easily turn a country just looking for peace into a country of terrorists, in the western media's eyes. This is irredeemable in my eyes.

So, no. I try to be inclusive. Pricegraves fans are still welcome to interact with me. They know by now that I won't write it, I don't really entertain it, and to go to my wife. The same for FarahAlex shippers, and really anyone who ships something on my No-Ship list. (Though please get the memo on that second ship, I'm never gonna budge, I'm sorry.)

I'm sorry if you feel alienated, I know it probably sucks. Trust me, I understand. But, unfortunately, I want to protect my peace, and I want my blog to continue to be my own safe space.

Moving onto Adrien, I've quoted before that "cats don't follow orders, merely act on polite requests from those they appreciate". I need Adrien to slowly stop appreciating Gabriel. Gabriel was so stunned by his defiance that he just accepted with no argument.

Funny part is that it's only Gabriel (and Lila) who's receiving this. He's still an affectionate sunshine to everybody else. He makes sure Natalie is always comfortable and not overworking herself, he always takes time to chat with Gorilla during cars rides, he's a complete simp for Marinette (post reveal and its also mutual), he an empathetic caring friend to everybody (expect Lila), and is just the happiest person in general when not around Gabriel (or Lila). Plagg is crying tears of joy at the pride he feels when he sees Adrien's progress.

Gabriel starts breaking down even more when he realizes that Adrien's amok doesn't seem to working (not realizing that Adrien has no amok anymore). He goes complete insane when he learns that his son is now human and is also Chat Noir, thus impossible to ever control.

Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Season 2 Episode 2 Review

- There’s so much to talk about

- First, let’s start with the people I hate so I don’t have to think about them any more. Shaddiq and his loser harem. I fucking hate Shaddiq so much. This dickhead just got innocent kids killed and traumatized so many others for what? To be the new Grassley President? And all of his girls just follow his lead. Fucking brownnoses. The real question is why did he kidnap his father instead of just killing him? Is it because he’s scared if he does kill him, he won’t be the stated heir?

- Poor Nika. Her backstory was pretty sad. She just wants to live a happy life, and she wants others to have the same thing. However right when she was about to solidify her love for her friends, Shaddiq’s number one simp, Henoa, stopped her and probably kidnapped her. And now with Nika being branded a terrorist, and Earth House being arrested, she won’t be able to explain the situation and they’ll think the worst of her.

- The Jeturk curse hits once again with Lauda almost fucking dying. Dude literally just wants to avenge his brother and father and he’s getting fucked by the narrative. Meanwhile, Felsi seems to be feeling outcast since Petra has a crush on Lauda, and thus the two are leaving her behind. At the end of the day, the Jeturk house seems to be a family, all working to support each other.

- Chuchu was too powerful so life had to nerf her by giving her PTSD. She was about to go on a killing spree, but she snapped out of it when she realized that people needed to be saved. It shows just how kind she is under her big attitude. Even if she doesn’t like Spacians, she doesn’t want them to die, and she’ll prioritize their rescue over revenge. But now she’ll have to deal with the fact that her “big sister” was labeled a terrorist

- El5n once again being the ultimate babygirl. However we also get to see past his happy facade. He’s someone who desperately wants to live. He refuses to use his Permet because he sees no use in wasting his life. And his mention of El4n indicates that the two knew each other? Were they close? And how will El5n bond with Norea as the show is putting those two together. Finally, why did El5n become the body double when he knows the Permet will kill him? He says it’s because he wants to live, but wouldn’t becoming a Gundam pilot just kill him faster? I’m so interested in his story.

- Norea and Sophie. One wants revenge against the Spacians who destroyed her world, and one just wants what everyone else does. A nice home and warm meals and a happy family. But they’re Gundam pilots which means they’ll die before they’ll ever see their goals realized. They want so desperately to be happy but their circumstances means they can’t. And poor Sophie dies, and all Norea can do is mourn her and move on. But what will Norea do now? She seems set in her ways on destroying Spacians, but maybe El5n can break her from that curse. Maybe there can be a happy ending?

- Finally, the moment I’ve been waiting for. The reveal that Eri is the Aerial and Suletta is just a clone/second daughter. Eri’s conscience has been locked into the Aerial and when it goes Permet 6, she fully takes over. The side story implies Eri knows what’s going on and agreed with her mother, so will she be the true big bad? Or is she going to ultimately side with her little sister and protect her? How lonely she must be locked in a robot, never being able to love a normal life. And is there more? Cause once you get one kid in the suit, it’s not too hard to put more in there.

- Suletta almost broke out of her programming. She realized her mom put her in a suit of war and that she took a man’s life with its hands. She realized that her “siblings”, Sophie and Norea, were cursed. But then the brainwashing takes over. Aerial tells her that everything will be okay. Aerial doesn’t want her to feel guilt so it says that Suletta did no wrong. And Suletta, who wants to believe her mom is good, takes the bait and reconditions herself. Only Suletta can break herself free, but she needs support in Miorine and her friends.

- But where do we go from here? The school’s been attacked and people have died. What small basis GUND-ARM was gaining has been torn apart. Gundams are evil again. And maybe this pressure will make Miorine crack and finally take up Quiet Zero. And then no more wars and everyone will be happy! Yay!

Literally nobody is blockading aid, don't use words you don't know the meaning of. Israel restricts arms and precursor chemicals for bomb and explosive making. Considering the region is literally controlled by terrorists asserting themselves as the government, I'd say that's perfectly reasonable. Although Adrien has never, Chat stood up to Gabriel, and then Gabriel said that Chat's attitude reminded him to someone, implying that someone was Emilie. Chat's determination reminded Gabriel to Emilie and Chat knew it, meaning that Chat agrees. Aka, Emilie had a strong personality.

Now, if we think about Emilie's personality like that, contexts becomes weird. Adrien have been isolated all his life and forced to do things he didn't like as modeling. Of course, Adrien partly wanted to do that, but because his parents wanted him to, and (omg this is becoming a tongue twister) Adrien wanted to be whatever his parents wanted him to be. But, if sentimonster theory is right (and I believe it is), Adrien has been manipulated all his life and there's no way Emilie didn't know.

This whole thing means that Emilie agreed to manipulate Adrien, and, knowing or not it was a bad thing, she also agreed to him be isolated and do a lot of stuff he disliked. Bcuz think about it, not just Gabriel was, is and will a total simp for Emilie, but Emilie also had a strong personalitie. If Emilie wanted to her son not being in such situation, it would have stop in a blink of an eye. A loving mother who happens to also be a strong woman wouldn't allow to his son being hurted not for a second. But we met a depressed, control and isolation traumatized Adrien anyways.

I'm not saying Emilie is the worst mother either. She might not know how much damage she did to her own son, she might have thought that she was doing right to protect her sentison from world's judgment if somehow someone ended up discovering that Adrien is not a human or whatever. Also, Adrien reminds her with love, I wanna believe that it is for a reason (although he also really loves Gabriel despite his recent attitude). But yeah, doesn't quit the fact that Emilie also contributed to Adrien's trauma.

Why the ATLA Comics Suck Part 1

Note: Here is Part 2

Here are the reasons why I think the comics suck, or at least why they are lackluster. And if you disagree with any of my points, please feel free to comment down below why so.

Writing everyone out of Zuko’s life so he would go to Ozai willingly and use his advice, despite Zuko making Aang promise to kill him if he ever starts acting like Ozai.

Making Aang promise to kill Zuko and almost follow through with it until Katara stops him.

Fire Lord Zuko and Avatar Aang “convincing" Earth King Kuei to allow the oldest Fire Nation colonies to become independent, despite being dominated by Fire Nation colonials, just to keep families “together” despite separating families due to creating new borders/a new nation-state. It is implied Kuei never got reparations, or at least adequate reparations, and so the loss of trillions of dollars of land/taxes partially motives his daughter and Kuvira in LoK.

Have the only people we see, on-panel at least, advocating for the colonies to become independent are Fire Nationals who have direct ties to the old colonial regime and Earth Kingdomers who managed to integrate themselves into the colonial power structure and/or have relationships with Fire Nationals (cough*Sneers*cough). Like they briefly touch upon the colonies’ class structure, and how the Earth Kingdomers are at the bottom of it, but we never see them bring up that issue again. Nor do we ever see any of the lower-class masses talk to the people responsible for their fate: Zuko, Kuei, and/or Aang.

Make everyone act stupid so Azula could go on the search for Ursa free and unbound and constantly act a menace thanks to her psychotic breaks since no one asks her what she is hallucinating about before nearly succeeding in committing matricide so she can use a letter (more details below) to overthrow Zuko. All that and then allowing her to escape into a dangerous forest without giving proper chase (ex. have Aang use his Avatar State powered seismic sense, call in June and/or Toph, or just have Zuko run after her when she makes her escape attempt).

Have Zuko fail to station (extra) guards at Azula’s asylum, allowing her to break out several of her fellow asylum inmates without Zuko ever finding out.

Have Mai find out about the existence of the New Ozai Society, and the fact that her father is the leader of it, but have her not tell Zuko until Zuko has almost been killed and his half-sister, along with her own brother, have been kidnapped by Azula and her mental asylum escapees who are “working” with the New Ozai Society.

Have Mai trust Ty Lee’s “aura sense” in order to gauge the trustworthiness of a New Ozai Society pasty she is dating in order to get intel despite already knowing who their leader is and at least one of their hideouts.

Have Mai initially honeypot said pasty to also get back at Zuko, but eventually have her fall for him before having him break up her with since it is painfully obvious that she still simps for Zuko, despite Zuko not really working on any of the flaws that caused Mai to break with him in The Promise.

Have Zuko try to get back into Mai’s favor while searching for Azula’s terrorist cell, despite the fact it is largely his fault that Azula is free and Mai and Ty Lee are rightfully fearing for their lives, as well as for Tom-Tom’s.

Not having Ty Lee confront Azula and get over her fear of Azula, despite one of the main themes of Smoke and Shadow being getting over one’s fears, or at least learning not to have them drive your actions and/or cloud your mind.

Not having Mai and Ty Lee confront their imperialist past and explicitly reject it while also making amends. For while the Sisters comic heavily implies that one of Ty Lee’s motivations for joining the Kyoshi Warriors is to make up for her past, it is odd that they don’t do any real self-reflection in regards to their imperialist past despite all the other Fire Nationals who have similar pasts (ex. Iroh, Jeong Jeong, Piandao, Chey, and Zuko) having to do so before they get redeemed. For if they did, maybe, for example, Mai wouldn’t have hesitated to tattle on Ukano, who in addition to wanting to put Ozai back on the throne, seems to want to re-engage in the very imperialism Mai supposedly rejected.

Give Azula a very, very, very unjustified and unearned power-boost that allows her to slap most of the non-Avatar State powered main characters without really trying once she regains her “sanity.” Like where would someone who is constantly chi-blocked and straightjacketed before becoming a homeless, penniless, fugitive find the time, space, and energy to train? Especially when Azula’s abilities were previously depicted as a byproduct of having the resources of an entire nation-state behind her and obsessive training in near ideal conditions.

Have Azula regain her “sanity”, but end up deciding to implement a 148D plan to make Zuko into a tyrant despite there are better ways of doing so like becoming his advisor or killing his loved ones like Mai or Kiyi.

Have the Gaang and the White Lotus continue on with their lives instead of dropping everything to search for the Fire Warriors 24/7. For not only does the Fire Warriors' goal of turning Zuko into a tyrant no matter the cost have the potential to destroy the post-war order they fought so hard to establish, but also the Fire Warriors have proven themselves to be more than a match for the Gaang considering the only reason why Aang and Zuko, or for that matter, everyone who entered the palace while the Fire Warriors were operating in the Garden of Tranquil Souls without anyone having a clue, are still alive is because the Fire Warriors did not want to kill them. Especially if Azula keeps progressing at the rate she is and manages to develop something like instant lethal lightning with full control after she has fired, or, god forbid, the Fire Warriors' psychic smokebending is a precursor to psychic fire and/or lightningbending just like smokebending is a precursor to firebending (Kyoshi when she first attempted to firebend generated smoke just like Aang did when Zuko told Aang to firebend at the start of The Firebending Masters), which itself is a precursor to lightningbending.

Have Ursa tell Zuko to never forget who he is, but mind wipe herself of her time in the palace despite the fact that she loses all memory of the kids she supposedly loves and adores. (Note: This is just a disagreement with writing choices leading up to Ursa’s mind wipe. In-universe, Ursa was in a position that no mother should ever have to be in, and thus I don’t judge her for what she did considering she thought that Ozai would be on the throne for decades like his father, and would have succeeded in breaking Azula, which did happen, and Zuko, which almost happened if not for Iroh’s unforeseeable heel-face turn.)

Have Ursa write a letter saying that Zuko isn’t Ozai’s kid despite Ursa knowing that she and Zuko only have value if Zuko and Azula are Ozai’s kids. For if Ozai was smart, he could have used the letter to kill them off by showing the letter to Azulon, who would be very displeased at having his eugenics experiment partially ruined and angry that a bastard is in line for the throne. Moreover, having Ursa write such a letter makes Ozai retroactively very stupid, for instead of burning and banishing Zuko, or trying to kill Zuko on DoBS, he instead could have released the letter to the public, essentially disinheriting Zuko without ever getting his hands dirty. Especially when it is established earlier in the comics that Ozai never had any love for Zuko from the moment he was born, instead of Ozai being warped by his ambition like what was implied in the TV show.

Disregarding the prior established worldbuilding/engaging in anachronism by having western-style straight jackets, western-style mental asylums, modern wheelchairs, and modern forklifts.
