cons of getting my wisdom teeth removed: -the healing time is miserable ! it's like 2-3 weeks and I'm not even through the first one ! -it doesn't feel safe to eat the foods I'm supposed to be able to, like pasta or chunks of watermelon so i have gotten rather Tired of eating scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, and applesauce. at least I have avocados that'll be ready to eat soon. -i can't sleep how I want bc my head has to stay Elevated so too much blood doesn't run to my head and therefore the extraction sites. this was more of a problem the first couple days when I was still biting gauze but I'm scared it'll start bleeding again so I'm not taking chances -speaking of i am so fucking scared of getting dry socket -the amoxicillin. smells? i didn't notice this when I started taking it but now it's immediately as I open the bottle
pros: -i don't have a cavity anymore
cons: when it was just the cavity I had to chew with one side of my mouth, now I kinda just can't chew at all bc they took all four wisdom teeth so there's extraction sites on both sides. my wisdom teeth were otherwise not bothering me and probably wouldn't have been needed to be taken out if not for the one cavity
pros: I have so much Treats set aside for Myself for when i can safely eat solid food again

Heading to the vet's office shortly to pick up both anti-nausea meds and an appetite stimulant for Tiny Tim
I'm nervous to leave him home alone (Jon is at work) but I have to keep reminding myself that he's stable. He'll be fine for an hour or two.
My brain is very good at anxiety but I have to go

every single time I get sick I forget what it's like to feel well. surely I've never been fully able to breathe through my nose? swallowing has always felt like knives stabbing at my throat don't be silly. getting dizzy when standing up? that's just the thrill of life baby!

update: peach is doing very well!! she's eating and sleeping normally (sleeping more than normal, really, but that's to be expected)!! after 3 days of not sleeping and a few changes in painkillers, she finally just napped for an hr then, after another day, slept through the whole night (and most of the next day). she's started following all her usual routines again and is very keen to eat! still on some painkillers, but they're not having any horrific side effects anymore
now that im not staying up to keep an eye on her all night (while also dealing with upgrading my computer and my phone and also my sister preparing to go overseas and the dogs barking and howling constantly due to all of the above), i finally got some decent sleep too and slept for about 14 hrs. so today ive got that weird shakiness that i get from sleeping too much, but hey it's better than the whole of the last week

The only two things I can think of that are, even at their very basics, human traits are cooking and medicine. And if you think about it in a lot of ways they’re the same thing, so really the human condition is just harnessing the power of gods because we want each other to be well.
I wrote a paper for med school talking about research spanning 35 years, but if I’d been writing about bone breaks I’d have been talking about 15,000. The oldest proof of cooking is 780,000 years old. We are star stuff and godlings and a dice throw of evolution, and we have a drug for people who can’t eat cheese because human ingenuity will always trace back to wanting to share.
Sitting around a kitchen table is the closest we’ll get to being constellations again, and every time the Hippocratic Oath is sworn, there are two and a half thousand years of echoes.
Remember your meds. Remember to eat. I love you.

I relate to the
“I have things to do, better take my medication”
“but I need to eat”
“Okay no medicine”
“but things to do-“
loop SO MUCH
I typically just eat right before I take medicine- that doesn’t solve having to cook but you can always just make ramen or get microwaveable meals
I dunno why I sent this- it probably won’t help much- uhh-
yeah no i feel that. = 3 = I try to do that but;;; idk! i feel! bad about only eating dumb microwave meals and stuff. like. i worry about it not being very healthy or financially wise and shit like that, y'know? and then i'll like. be awake in the dead of night trying to fall asleep and be like.
omg.... you know what would be so good...? soup.... i would love to make soup i haven't made soup in forever it's FALL WEATHER i should make SOUP ugh it would be so fantastic i should do that i'll make soup...
but then the morning comes and it's like... ah... well... the desire for soup still somewhat persists, but....

i have been hanging out with a new group of people and most of them didn't grow up in the US, which is a relevant detail because i always volunteer to bring drinks to events and every single time i have to talk myself down buying root beer because that is a Controversial Flavor especially if you didn't grow up with it. however unfortunately i fucking love root beer. and yesterday i caved and brought it and people were like oh i've never tried this!!!! and guess what. they hated it
