#supergirl: woman of tomorrow spoilers
Text
What's this? Another Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow post?? But it's 2024! Surely, there's nothing new to uncover with regards to this seminal work of sequential storytelling...right?!?!?
Well...kinda. XD
BEHOLD! Another Tom King podcast interview, wherein he discusses Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and mostly confirms stuff we already knew, but! BUT! He does drop some new bits of info!
Right then. LET'S GO!
Tumblr media
My usual disclaimer applies, recommend listening to the interview firsthand to get a more objective perspective.
But if you're cool with my (INCREDIBLY BIASED! ALWAYS! ALWAYS BIASED WITH THIS BOOK!) summary, then ONWARDS WE GO.
(And when I say 'biased summary' what I mean is that I will be including the bits that make me want to run a victory lap because my readings were SPOT HECKIN' ON, ALL YE NAYSAYERS!*)
Ahem. Anyways.
So I'm going to start off with some new-ish info (at least, it's new-ish to me. XD) The interviewers had asked about the title, specifically in regards to Zor-El's dialogue in issue six (I believe it's the portion where Zor is explaining to Kara why he's going to save her, and says something like, "tomorrow will come soon enough...and you will be a woman looking back on the many decades of your life..." hence 'Woman of Tomorrow') and whether that was planned from the outset, or if that part came about organically as he was writing it.
King said he'd originally written a completely different script for issue six (which we did know) but FUN NEW FACTOID TIME: Zor-El/Kara's origin (initially) weren't included in issue six like, at all. It therefore would not have come up at any point within the mini-series, had they gone with that first script.
But editorial hated it (King agreed with their conclusion, and another fun fact, we'll get to see said script in the backmatter for the new deluxe edition, YAY) and when King asked if there was anything in it that they liked, they said the tiny flashback to Kara's time on Argo was good.
SO. King then decided to expand that/incorporate her origin, because that would be 'easy', and this was back during his crazy COVID writing schedule.
(Folks will perhaps recall that he wrote issue seven in like...a day. What we did not know was that he rewrote issue six in that same week.)
And then it ended up being everyone's favorite issue so yaaaaay for editors! Unsung heroes of comics!
They are also comics' greatest villains but that's a discussion for another day!
Evely's art was mentioned at this point and King was like, 'I had to go back and make the writing more beautiful/esoteric to match what she was putting out.'
Also we stan a comic writer who lets his artists take as long as they need on art. (Though as he's mentioned before, Evely was able to turn in the art quickly on this book, which is heckin' WILD to me, have you SEEN that woman's pencils and inkwork??!??!?!??!?!)
They touched on the True Grit comparisons, only relevant/new bits there are that King feels it's the perfect novel (agree) and that the John Wayne version is terrible (also correct) and the Cohen Brothers' version is great (right again.)
Another bit we already knew: It was an editor who was responsible for the suggestion that Kara should be Rooster, not Mattie. (I think in the past he credited this to Jamie Rich, but this time he said he couldn't remember if it was Rich or Brittany Holzherr, and said they could fight over the credit if they want. XD)
Either way, THANK YOU, WHOEVER YOU ARE, b/c the alternative pitch, with Kara as Mattie and Lobo as Rooster, sounded awful.
Instead King went with, 'Kara will learn from the young naïf, and teach the young naïf.'
(Much better.)
MORE NEW, FUN TRIVIA!!!!
King said they had the first issue completely drawn, colored, and lettered--basically ready to go, and DC said, 'we can't publish this because Supergirl doesn't drink.'
King called Jim Lee, trying to make his case, that she was twenty-one, it was legal, it was a totally normal/human thing to do, and Lee was like, 'but we can't.'
King: Could I do it with Superman? Lee: Yeah.
Essentially it was a lot of tiptoeing around stuff like, 'girls can't get drunk and whatnot' coupled with 'Supergirl can't do that because she's perfect and pure.'
But! Lee ultimately was like, 'okay, you can leave the scene in, but you can't say she's drunk.'
So if you go back and read the actual dialogue/narration, there's no explicit language confirming that kara is three sheets to the wind.
(Which is so, so ridiculous to me because the art makes it very, very clear that she is. XD LOOPHOLES!)
King and the interviewers pointed out that this real world editorial incident ironically tied into one of the metanarratives of the character, that being the pressure placed on Kara, which Clark doesn't have to deal with.
Art imitating life etc. etc. XD
Feel like I've heard this bit in other interviews but it's sweet so it bears repeating: the green sun planet's name is based on King's nickname for his daughter, and she was the one who came up with the idea of a 'green sun planet' during a discussion at dinner one night.
So shifting gears a bit, the rest of the podcast focused specifically on various plot points that the interviewers wanted to discuss/had questions about; it's basically King offering his insights as the writer. And I really, really appreciate this, for reasons I'll get to further down. Now then, more summarizing!
One of the interviewers brought up a sticking point he had with the book: the execution of the Brigand in issue four. Ruthye says to Supergirl that she thought she would save him. To which Supergirl replies: Did you?
King explained that Ruthye and Kara are on opposite journeys in this book. In issue one, Kara is on the side of 'I don't kill, heroes never kill' and Ruthye is on the opposite side, 'Krem killed my father, I have to kill him.' At the end of the book, they are once again on opposite sides, but they've switched.
(I love the way King described it, that Ruthye becomes Supergirl, and saves Supergirl. More on this later.)
But specifically that part in issue four, where Kara doesn't step in, King confirmed that she's on that journey, she's going through that transition, but she hasn't crossed the line of, 'I'll kill him myself.' Rather, she's allowing the system to do what it will.
King also mentioned that this theme isn't especially new and has been examined in comics time and time again, of superheroes asserting their morality over governments, and how that spirals into fascism. He cited Kingdom Come, etc.
Further comments from King on Kara's character: she's conflicted, unlike Clark. Clark's soul and ideals are aligned one to one; Kara wants that. She loves those ideals and wants to uphold them, but she's not fully aligned like that because of what she's been through (read: She's Seen Some Things)
Loved this bit from King: "Supergirl's a little more human than Clark, in spite of being more alien."
King said DC probably would've let him have Supergirl kill Krem in the end, BUT (and it's a good 'but' tying into that earlier bit about Ruthye becoming Supergirl) he said that the theme of this book was 'what makes Supergirl awesome' (he admits this is kind of a dumb theme, but hard disagree, sir) and he liked that Kara's lessons to Ruthye are ultimately what saves her. Kara saves herself.
(STICK A PIN IN THAT ONE, FOLKS)
King once again stated, for the record, that Krem does not die in the end!
The two interviewers had differing interpretations, hence King needing to confirm. XD He even pulled out his script for issue eight, and the description does indeed say that Krem is unconscious, not dead.
And, AND, Evely even made this clearer in the art; the script didn't have Krem moving after Ruthye hit him, but Evely added Krem placing his hand on his head.
Another point the interviewers wanted to discuss: Ruthye writing that Supergirl had killed Krem.
King confirmed that this was to prevent the Brigands from retaliating against Ruthye, and instead focus on going after Supergirl.
In King's mind, Kara feels immense guilt that her father saved her over literally anyone else, so she spends her life taking on other people's pain, to make up for what she sees as taking someone else's spot on that ship.
The scene in issue seven, where Kara's falling through the atmosphere and pushes through in order to preserve the memories that she carries with her was inspired by events from King's life; his mother died unexpectedly, and when going through her things, realized that he was one of the only people who carried certain memories of his mother and grandparents; he described it as a kind of burden.
Last question from the interviewers: Why make Ruthye and unreliable narrator? Do we believe anything in this book, now?
King started off his answer by noting that he fought against using captions in his books for his entire career; by the time he started writing comics, caption boxes had sort of lost their vitality and had become the equivalent of thought balloons, which had long since fallen out of style.
But when he returned to them with Supergirl, he said, (and I have the full quote below)
King: "What I love about [captions] is that you can write things that contrast what's in the pictures, so that the captions can tell you a little bit of a different story than what you're seeing, and thereby enhance it--it's that idea of Ruthye being, she's narrating the story but we're seeing pictures of what's actually happening, creates an excellent sort of tension I think." (Bold mine)
And so, some THOUGHTS!
As always, I love learning new things about this comic. I wish this comic had a commentary track, with King (and Evely, Lopes, and Cowles!) talking about the creation/processes behind the book.
Next best thing is podcasts, I guess! XD
But IN ADDITION to fun, new information, as I mentioned at the outset, King has basically confirmed a bunch of stuff I mentioned in my deep dive posts.
To quote one of the interviews: "I was validated by Tom King!"
XD
This also debunks like. Every bad-faith criticism lobbed at the book. It's almost like a checklist of the month-to-month stuff I was seeing from those aforementioned naysayers, complaining on twitter that King had ruined Kara beyond repair.
They'll likely never listen to this podcast, but I wish they would! I think it would make them feel better. XD Like, hearing the insights on Kara/Ruthye/etc has just reminded me once again how good this book is, and how emotionally moving.
Like, again, I love the way King sums up how Kara and Ruthye work together in this book to shine a spotlight on Supergirl; Kara teaches Ruthye lessons, Ruthye becomes Supergirl thanks to those lessons, Ruthye then saves Kara, thus Kara saves herself.
(Which hey, I touched on in my issue eight post, way back when.)
(I'm also beyond thrilled that my assumption that the art is the true account while the narration boxes are Ruthye's recounting was CORRECT.)
(Which isn't to suggest this is a terribly deep, difficult to decipher text. I mean. It's a monthly comic book intended for mass consumption, starring popular IP--the writing isn't inaccessible by any means. XD But I just remember seeing SO MANY PEOPLE deliberately misreading these specific points as a way to Stay Mad, so I'm relieved that my glass half full interpretations wasn't just the result of desperate Evely Stan goggles, you know? XD)
TL;DR: I cannot heckin' WAIT for that big, beautiful hardcover coming out in July (IDK if I've posted about it here yet but Lopes said he recolored some stuff so you BETTER BELIEVE I'll be back on my Woman of Tomorrow nonsense this summer) and I'm also thrilled that this entire creative team has returned with a new creator owned title (EXPECT A POST ON THAT...AT SOME POINT???)

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, thoughts with spoilers
This is the Supergirl story that I've always hoped would be told. Cosmic and infinitely sad.
Supergirl watched her entire planet be destroyed. The survivor's guilt, feeling responsible for carrying on your dead planet's memory, must be immense. The reader's first glimpse of Supergirl is while she's drunk and "celebrating" her birthday and sets the tone of the story that will be told. It's a depressing series of scenes because it's not really a celebration. She doesn't want to remember another year where she's alive and almost everyone she knew is dead.
Having Ruthye narrate the story creates an unreliable narrator situation, which is addressed in story. How much of what Ruthye tells us is the the truth? How much is embellishment, omission, whitewashing? We don't know but the story we're told is definitely not all of it.
Loved that this story was set in space. To me, Supergirl doesn't fit on earth. She's a daughter of the stars and I imagine that's where she feels most comfortable, maybe even closer to Krypton.
Supergirl and death: she's not like Superman, where "killing is bad." She's seen so much death that she can't stomach any more. But she knows that it's a necessary part of life. How many graves has Supergirl dug? Too many to count.
Could have done without Comet turning into a man part.
That ending: what a gut punch. That is playing the long game. Supergirl knows that the need for closure, for vengeance, is not healed by time. At first I found the killing too harsh. Krem served his "sentence" and was seemingly rehabilitated. But from Ruthye's point of view, her father is still dead, all the people Krem killed are still dead, she is still in pain all those years later. Is justice satisfied when the victim deems it so, or is that only a question society can answer?
I don't know. I'm still thinking about that ending a week later.

Note
(putting it here because we really need stop highjacking gifs sets)
Okay first of all Legends of Tomorrow:
This show is amazing, you have to watch it.
It's a superheroes who time travel but it is very wacky and queer. The first season is my last favorite because it is more cliché and boring and less gay, so don't judge the show on this. It gets crazier after that.
There is a bisexual woman who hooks up with lots of people through history and especially historical figures.
They beat the villains with the power of friendship, love and violence or gets them to join the team.
In a nutshell, it's amazing, one of my favorite shows of all times. If you want to see a bit more of that craziness and don't really care about spoilers, watch legends without context videos.
About Warrior Nun :
You're right, I forgot it was Bea driving when she picked up Mary. For some reason I mixed them up and thought it was Mary.
That means that we didn't see Mary drive expect for her motorcycle. She can probably drive cars too but we love cliches and since she's a lesbian who can cook... Well she probably can drive well but it's fun to pretend that she can't.
Legends -
I know that legends has a lot of overlap with the rest of the arrowverse. But I only really know Supergirl S2-forwards.
Does it suffer from the same writing degrade that Supergirl did in it's later seasons when they forgot that their characters were good people and just forgot Nia existed at all?
Warrior Nun -
I like to think that she's the 'good driver' with her and Shannon, but she can only drive her bike. Shannon Should just be a maniac on the road.
That's why they taught Bea, and maybe Lilith. That way they can actually get home on a timely basis.

DC Legacy
The basic premise of this is that the time has come for older heroes to step down and the next generation take their place. Clark Kent is now the editor and owner of the Daily Planet and vows to lead them into the future while keeping their dedication to the truth. Diana Prince is now Queen of the Amazons and has relinquished her title as Wonder Woman though she still joins the Justice Society when needed. Bruce Wayne has become mayor of Gotham City and intends to use the power of the office to fight crime at the root. However the intensified spotlight means he must give up the cowl. Others such as Oliver Queen have stepped down from active duty to become teachers to the next generation, passing down their skills and knowledge. DC Fans...How do I become you?
Because the DCU is beginning sooner than later and I want to start making the transition to become one of you. But according to some, I’m not a true DC fan yet, so what do I have to do?
These are the comics I’ve read:
A few issues of Robbie Reyes’ first time as Blue Beetle
All Star Superman
The Killing Joke
Four issues of Grant Morrison’s Batman run
The Looney Tunes/DC heroes crossovers
Superman: Birthright
Three stories from Golden Age Superman
And Injustice years 1-4
As for shows, I’ve watched:
Batman: The Animated Series
Superman: The Animated Series
Justice League: The Animated Series/Justice League: Unlimited
The Batman
Teen Titans (Who HASN’T)
Batman Beyond
Static Shock
Green Lantern: The Animated Series
TWO seasons of Yong Justice
Batman: The Brave and the Bold
Seven Seasons of Arrow
Five Seasons of The Flash
Four Seasons of Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow
One Season of Black Lightening
The Crisis of Infinite Earth’s crossover
Three Seasons of Doom Patrol (haven’t watched the latest one yet. Hush up on spoilers)
Peacemaker
And Harley Quinn: The Animated Series
And for movies, I’ve seen:
A good amount of animated movies
The Dark Knight trilogy
All the Snyder films (Regrettably)
Wheadon’s Justice League (Regrettably)
Both Suicide Squads
Both Wonder Woman movies
Aquaman
That Harley Queen/Birds of Prey flick
Shazam (But not the second one)
Black Adam
And The Batman
Is there ANYTHING else I need to do to consider myself a DC fan.

SOME COMICS I’VE READ
(this is just some recent reads & some old)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ON TO THE COMICS
Tumblr media
BETA RAY BILL BY DANIEL WARREN JOHNSON
This comic made me want to read more Thor comics to be honest. I know Ray is his own character separate from Thor don’t worry. This comic run is brilliant and is wrapped up great at the end of the 5th issue. The fight at the end (with someone I will not name because I’m not sure if it’s a spoiler) is just great and badass and a perfect way to end the story however it is a bit sad at the same time.
Tumblr media
HELLBOY SEED OF DESTRUCTION BY MIKE MIGNOLA
This first trade paperback is great and makes you want to keep reading. I plan to read the second paper back Wake The Devils.
Tumblr media
SUPERGIRL WOMAN OF TOMORROW BY TOM TAYLOR
Supergirl is my favorite superhero due to the CW show however the CW representation isn’t very accurate. The comic version of Kara is much better in my opinion and isn’t just a knock off Superman please give me my moody sad Supergirl that is traumatized from losing her world. Tom Taylor’s writing is brilliant and the art is just beautiful and elevates the story I hope once the movie comes out it’s just as beautiful I’m hoping more for a guardians of the galaxy space like visuals.
Tumblr media
SWAMP THING WINTER SPECIAL BY TOM KING & JASON FABOK
The emotional beats in this story really hit by the end of the book I cried. It’s a great tribute to Len Wein the original writer and original artist Bernie Wrightson of Swamp Thing. This comic is what made me get into Swamp Thing in the first place.
Tumblr media
HAWKEYE FREEFALL BY MATTHEW ROSENBERG
Hawkeye is one of my favorite Marvel characters. This story was great however I didn’t find it emotionally compelling however it does have a very sad event happen that definitely makes you feel for Clint. It also carries on the personality of Clint in Hawkeye by Matt Fraction which I greatly enjoyed as well. Clint’s personality is awfully explored in the MCU however I still do like his character and sometimes it feels like I’m the only one in that boat.
Please do not take this post as the only comics I’ve read I’ve read many but these are the ones I wanted to talk about! Also please be patient this is the first time I’ve talked about comics in a deeper way. Anyway thank you for checking me out!

Really happy so far with what James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed of the first part of the new DCU slate!!! :D Chapter 1 is going to be called “Gods and Monsters”. Nice to see that this will have no affect on Matt Reeves’ movies/shows, “Joker 2″, the 2nd “Constantine” films, if the CW keeps any of their DC shows for next season, and the other cartoon series as they’ll all be branded as “DC Elseworlds” from now on. They also said that “Superman and Lois” will be able to go on till at least 2025 when their movie comes out but it’s The CW’s decision and they could get a final season next season if this one isn’t written to work that way. Also they will be keeping some of the current actors after “The Flash” movie creates this new DCU with Gal Galdot’s Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Zachary Levi’s Shazam, the “Blue Beetle” cast, Voila Davis’ Amanda Waller, and the entire “Peacemaker” cast all being confirmed to be a part of this new universe. They haven’t decided yet about Ezra Miller but I have a feeling they might just bring in Wally West as another Flash going by the new slate. So here’s my thoughts on the new movies/shows in order of how they’ll be released though “Peacemaker” season 2 is also now a part of it. The shows too will all be on HBO Max.
Creature Commandos (TV): This one is new to me as it’s a group of characters similar to the Universal Monsters that band together. It’ll be an animated show too but the actors who voice them will also play them in live action so that will be cool and it will fully connect to the other movies, shows, and games.
Waller (TV): This is the show James has been working on about Amanda Waller and it’ll include Viola Davis and fully connect to “Peacemaker”.
Superman Legacy (movie): This was the Superman movie already revealed with a new actor to be cast and we know he’ll be in his 20s and trying to live his life as a journalist and as Superman. It’s been dated now for July 2025.
Lanterns (TV): This is a new version of the “Green Lantern” show that was originally in the works from Greg Berlanti but is now being fully by Gunn and Safran. Very cool that Hal Jordan and John Stewart are going to be the leads of the first season though others will appear.
The Authority (movie): This is another I don’t know that much about but it sounds cool. I do recognize a few characters the mentioned from the comics and having appeared on shows like “Stargirl” and “Legends of Tomorrow”.
Paradise Lost (TV): This one sounds really cool as it’s a prequel about the Amazons before Diana was born. They even compared it to “Games to Thrones”. Sounds like it will still connect to Gal’s version too.
Batman & Robin: The Brave and the Bold (movie): This one got me excited as it’s another Batman movie but the Robin in this is his actual son Damian Wayne!!! :D They also confirmed the rest of the Batfamily will be in this too and starting their own movies connected of them. With Damian already here this means that Dick/Nightwing, Barbara/Batgirl/Oracle, and at least Jason/Red Hood should be around as well as Alfred. Possibly could include Tim/Red Robin, Stephanie/Spoiler, and Cassandra/Black Bat as James said these characters have been long neglected by the Batman films. Depends on what Reeves is doing too but I think they’ll be fine with Dick already as an adult here and if he’s a still a teen in Reeves’ movies/shows. They will be casting a new Bruce/Batman, so curious to find out who that will be. They also dated “The Batman 2″ for October 2025 too.
Booster Gold (TV): This has also been in the works for years and he too showed up on “Legends of Tomorrow” so it’s finally happening.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (movie): This will be cool to see too. Though not sure if Kara will still be played by Sasha Calle like in “The Flash” movie or if it’ll be a new actress as Sasha’s seems to be tied to Henry Cavill’s. They didn’t mention Sasha either as staying so might be another recast.
Swamp Thing (movie): This one has me so excited!!! :D I’ve loved Swamp Thing for years and that he’ll be in the movies again and tied to this new DCU. It’s going to be darker than the other movies and shows listed here and end the first chapter leading into the 2nd chapter.
Overall I’m really excited and glad they’re doing this more like Marvel now with such a larger plan and focusing on getting the scripts done first before they film. Also looking forward to finding out the castings as this is going to be a lot of actors.

Longer Thoughts About The Flash 2023 Now That I Have Slept Once
Tumblr media
Non-spoiler thoughts first, just because.
I think the average moviegoer will have fun with it, because like. Even I was pleasantly surprised (kind of) about how the movie actually went. Christina Hodson is a really good writer, and the fact that she was able to get something coherent and in brief flashes even compelling out of such BROKEN foundational material is a real testament to her abilities. If you're really just looking for a kind of entertaining time travel movie with familiar beats, this will be good for you.
I think, ultimately, I was never really sold on the premise of the movie to begin with, so it was hard for me to fully enjoy it as a DC fan. It's a very controversial storyline to tackle as a First Flash Film, it's not very easy to adapt to begin with, and as a piece of the DCEU or even the broader spectrum of the DC Multiverse it's even more controversial in many ways because of the broader context of the franchise it finds itself in. There are so many pieces both in the movie and outside of the movie that can't just let it BE a Flash movie, which I think really kills any hope of it being above mid to me at the end of the day.
Anyway Reader Beware Spoilers Under There
This just a highlight reel of random thoughts I had during the movie itself:
As much as I hate how many non-Flash characters get time in this movie, I will never be sad about seeing Jeremy Irons Alfred or Gal Gadot Wonder Woman, thank you for your service y'all enjoy your future projects.
The very FIRST second Barry went into the Speed Force I was like "oh that's neat" and then the REST of the Speed Force happened and I haven't physically cringed as hard since Emma Watson's autotune in Beauty and the Beast.
I can't believe they found a way to make Batfleck's suit both better AND worse than the DKR suit from the Snyder films. Also I take back everything I said about Batfleck being one of the best Batmen we never got, I don't know if it was just the writing or the performance he went with here but I think it's better this way I donot want to see Batfleck again.
I desperately want to send Kiersey Clemmons a really nice gift basket or a card because this was the most SET DRESSING ONLY Iris West they could have gone with. The DCEU has done her so dirty. The only reason Iris is here is because people would be in arms if she didn't show up ONCE. And I'm so mad about it, actually.
I'm actually glad the movie didn't just pretend Cyborg was never in JL-- I was glad he at least got mentioned in the search for the other JL members.
Speaking of, thank you to this movie for sneaking in a little Arthur in there at the end. I hope he and Barry had fun at their slumber party.
I actually really loved their Supergirl here, too-- she's much better than the Supergirl from the CW, she feels a lot more like Kara should, and I really hope for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, they bring back Sasha Calle, because as little as she gets to work with, she's very good in her role.
I don't wanna talk about Michael Keaton too much because I frankly still disagree with the amount of Batmen we have in this movie, but he's still fun to watch and still really good and I'm mad about it but I commend him.
Also, speaking of Batmen, I think the funniest thing this movie could have possibly done was only imply Batfleck and Batkeaton and ONLY show Clooney Bruce at the end. That cameo got the BIGGEST reaction out of ANYTHING in this movie, AND IT DESERVED IT.
I would have liked one Flash villain. Just one. Maybe in that opening sequence we could have had like a Trickster or a Top or a Rainbow Raider or a Girder. Someone who isn't going to get their own main villain billing ever but who would have made this Flash movie feel more like a Flash movie.
I think that's all I have for now BUT as I think on it more I'm sure I'll have more thoughts.

oh my gosh. I won’t post any panels from the final issue for spoiler’s sake but I loved issue #8 of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (2021). I was genuinely shocked by the twists and sometimes you think a story would have been better had it been played straight but that very much wasn’t the case here. and it did such a good job of concluding the story in a way that exemplified how everything that had come before was important without coming across as redundantly reiterating the events. most importantly, the characters and what they were experiencing was just so compelling. I did not begin this already a Supergirl fan and of course Ruthye was a new character to this series but I became so invested in them. would definitely recommend.

Excited for any superhero projects?
Hi Anon! I am, yes. Off the top of my head, in terms of things coming out in the future, I’m very much looking forward to the Thunderbolts movie. And you have good timing because I was just thinking about the Thunderbolts movie yesterday. What If? season 2 looks like it could be very fun, and I’m tentatively looking forward to Avengers 5 and 6. Depending on if they treat the characters well of course- I can’t take another mess like Endgame. Will fully admit that if they let me see Natasha, Wanda (main Wanda, none of this rumored multiverse nonsense), Pietro (ditto), Tony, Steve (an actual in-character version please), and/or Loki again, bring Jane back as a Valkyrie, or write Thor well I might be willing to forgive a lot though.
I’m also pretty excited for Armor Wars since I love Rhodey, though admittedly that excitement took a bit of a hit when I saw the relevant Secret Invasion spoilers. Blade as a character isn’t really my jam, but I am looking forward to seeing Dane Whitman again in that movie, especially as Black Knight, so I’m gonna list that too. And I’m very curious about the Agatha tv show rumors I’ve heard and if we might be getting Billy, potentially with Teddy, and if Wanda might be back.
…Nearly forgot Cap 4! Looking forward to that, with a few caveats. Those caveats being I need them to not villainize Sharon and take back the Power Broker thing, and I… truly have no idea how to feel about Sabra, given current events. I was excited for her inclusion, if dreading the discourse, now I don’t know how to feel about it because the likelihood of her inclusion being tone-deaf is even higher, and said discourse is going to be 100 times worse.
I also still have to watch the Loki finale episode and The Marvels. Very much looking forward to The Marvels; I have mixed feelings on the Loki finale since I’ve gotten a little spoiled for it, but I want to see how it ends just the same.
I’m super behind on Marvel movies, I kind of lost steam after Multiverse of Madness and haven’t seen the last 4 or 5 movies. Of those, I’m most looking forward to watching Wakanda Forever. (That would’ve been Love and Thunder because I adore both Jane and Thor but uh, 😬 I’ve heard about it and I had no faith in Taika Waititi to begin with, so…) After WF I think I’m most looking forward to watching GOTG 3 even though I’m fully aware I’m probably gonna cry my eyes out. Feeling a bit meh on Quantumania sadly, despite loving Cassie Lang in comics, based on what friends who’ve seen it have said, and fully expecting to have to grin and bear it through Love and Thunder.
In terms of unconfirmed projects, I need Eternals 2 yesterday. Also a Shang-Chi sequel and a second season of Moon Knight. The rumored Vision Quest show could be very good or alternately very bad, but I love Vision and he deserves a starring role, so I’m crossing my fingers it happens and isn’t just a retread of Tom King’s Vision because that comic was incredibly depressing. (Adore Viv Vision though, and would love a proper robotic Sparky the dog!) I also saw a rumor a bit ago that we might get a Clea backstory show, which I would be incredibly down for since comics Clea is one of my favorite underused characters, and has a really coolbackstory with a lot of potential for an interesting story. And I love the Young Avengers, so if we get to see them as an official team in the future I’ll be hyped for that.
For non-MCU things, I’m vaguely looking forward to Deadpool 3 despite not being a mutants/X-Men enthusiast because a. Deadpool is just fun, b. the Taylor Swift Dazzler rumors. For DC, The Superman: Legacy casting has me really really excited. I love Superman and it seems like we might actually get a good take on him this time! In terms of things farther down the DC pipeline, I’m a big Supergirl fan so naturally I’m hyped for the planned Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie, despite being halfway through that comic and still unsure if I like or not. And I love Damian Wayne so cautiously excited for the rumored Batman movie featuring Bruce and Dami.
