I got a currently unrelated but important and angst af question(s?);

I know you said that Jean didn’t know that the beast of gevaudan was his daughter Laura, but imagine if he did, before or after he ‘killed’ the beast. Can you imagine the raw heart ache and grief finding how that his baby girl was turned into a monster and (had to) killed her?

Also, if Jean and Laura somehow met in modern Hellsing, even for five minutes, what would be said between father and daughter?

I'll add onto that, anon, and share some historical facts with you that make this situation even more painful!

According to sources (article in French citing Guy Crouzet), Chastel's signature doesn't appear on the Marin report written the morrow after the beast's death, the 20th of June 1767. In the article, they speculate as to why, considering it was very clear according to eye witnesses and the lord of Apcher. According to Crouzet, the hypothesis could be that he either wasn't invited to sign it or that he was, but refused to attend.

If we want to take this into Laura's story and canon, then the idea that Jean who is hailed as the hero of Gévaudan for killing the beast and whose signature on that report would've "hailed and justified his glory and exploit for centuries to come", refused to attend it. He knew how to write and read, everyone knew he was the one that fired the shot. Why wouldn't he come?

Of course, why wouldn't he come. He will be given money and his name will be remembered as the hero who slew the beast and ended its reign of terror. Except the beast had his daughter's eyes, the eldest daughter he hadn't seen in 9 years because of a single day where she went to herd cows in a clearing, when whatever the hell started to happen to her. He hadn't heard from her since, he didn't know what she became, if her affliction was cured, if she was taken care of. The daughter he knew as kind and obedient and devout and the sweetest and a bit naive child he proudly loved, then the worst thing happens to her and years later something similar to what she's seen, a "wolf-like creature" terrorizing the locals, starts to happen again.

And two years after the beast's continuous rampages, he finally meets it face to face, and it's unnervingly familiar.

He would barely have the time to even process what happened before it's torn up, and he'd recognize the awful monster he just shot was his daughter that he left in the care of holy men to cure her and she was supposed to be better so what the hell was that thing he just shot? Is that supposed to be what happened to his child? This creature, so hateful and plain ungodly, is what his little girl grew into?

And now he's invited to sign the Marin report to confirm that indeed he did shoot the beast. It's what he will be remembered for, for killing the monster that no one knows is his eldest daughter that "succumbed to an illness" nine years ago and he's later offered just 72 pounds for the life of his daughter. That's what she was worth, apparently.

It was also noted that the beast's body was very poorly embalmed after its recovery. I imagine that whatever they found - or whatever the dogs had torn up in Laura's stead - had a rough time. I think that if Chastel saw it here, he would've been thankful for everything to not recognize the dead eyes staring up at him.

The point is that a pregnant Yuu has a child who inherits magic; The point is that Grim is officially the baby's guardian. Imagine that the baby's first words are not mom or dad, but Grim.

Imagine the baby is born and Grim names it: Mini Henchman or Henchman Number Two

Imagine the baby grows up and enters NCR. And be a figure of support or guardianship for the child. Imagine the boy growing up and becoming Ramshackle's new prefect.

I see Grim nostalgic and excited to go on new adventures with his little sidekick.

Grim does not hesitate to raise hell when someone tries to hurt his child why he raised and watched that child grow NOBODY TOUCHES HIS PROTECTED

I read somewhere that cats can sense pregnancy so I'd imagine that before Yuu finds out, Grim would spend more time napping or resting on her belly (well, way more than he usually does).

The second he finds out that his henchman is pregnant, though? He's going full on guard dog cat monster and has already claimed that he shall be the baby's favourite and he'll train them to be the perfect minion.

Also Ace and Deuce are 100% the godfathers and favourite uncles. Even if Yuu is married to one of them, the other is still going to be the closest to the child after it's parents/Grim, much to the other's chagrin. It's actually a constant battle between Grim and Adeuce over who the child's favourite is and the most important competition of their life is who's name is said first (it's Yuu's).

No but seriously Ace and Deuce with Yuu's kid is basically Michelle Tanner and Uncle Jesse from Full House or basically this video. They were the first people Yuu told about the pregnancy and then they full on cried when she asked them to be godfathers (she was actually surprised over how emotional they were - she thought the tears they shed when she asked them to be her bride's men/men of honour for her wedding were the most she'd ever seen, only to be take those words back on her actual wedding day during her vows - and then when she asked them to dance at the reception). They are 100% the type of people that would wear suits to the hospital after the birth because they want to make a good first impression.

But that kid is going to be the luckiest, sweetest and most spoiled kid ever with the entire NRC crew as the most doting uncles ever.

I like the idea of the NRC teachers are still there and are reminiscing about Yuu's adventures whenever they see Yuu's kid and Grim.

Yuu's kid would have so much fun at (the now renovated and much more comfortable) Ramshackle and loves spending time with the ghosts.

* But he soon realized he’s worrying over nothing! The dad’s whole intimidating aura disappeared and he had the sweetest smile inviting them in. He showed him baby pictures, made them dinner and dessert (which was INCREDIBLE), and showed a magnificent garden! Now Red sees where you gotten your love of flowers. Even he was astonished by the vibrant colors of roses, daises, hell he couldn’t even name them all!

* He even learned where you got all those sweaters from too. Turns out her own father makes them by hand. He’s shocked by how kind the father is but feels much more comfortable over time!

* He helped cook and serve food, he cleaned the dishes, he complimented his gardening and sewing skills. But at the same time they both shared stories and advice to each other. Seriously they became great pals. You felt a bit left out as they even planned to meet up again another day. At least they get along….?

cannot stop thinking about baby's first snowman!!

picture a chunky ass baby with curly hair (rip her mum who had the worst pregnancy heartburn because matty's hair genes refused to be suppressed) all bundled up in her puffy northface coat (but of course) and a beanie that's just a bit big for her so it keeps falling in her eyes and matty or missus has to keep pushing it back. and it's been snowing in england with the snow actually settling, proper white december so they decide to let her make a snowman.

of course she demands he have a carrot nose and that he's called olaf (idk if matty's impressed or thinks his child is basic) anyway because she's the sweetest child ever she wraps her scarf around it at the end i think because "he might get cold otherwise" 🥹

I think Matty’s laughing and taking pictures of the beanie slipping over her eyes and the missus is like scolding him for laughing at his own child’s expense and like cuffing the beanie so it sits nicely on her head. Which of course only lasts for about 5 seconds. She peeks over Matty’s shoulder to see that all the pictures and videos that he’s taking show a tiny child swallowed up by the puffer jacket and the beanie and scarf, all that’s visible is her slightly pink cheeks and her giant goofy smile (which she gets from her dad).

At first little girl is concerned because the ground underneath her feet has gone “crunchy.” Like it makes noise when she steps over it with her teeny tiny snow boots. So she freezes in place and starts crying. It takes a bit of convincing and repeatedly telling her that it’s like Anna and Elsa for her to decide to accept that she’s safe.

Matty, of course, thinks that she would enjoy herself a lot more if she knew the endless fun that is to be had with snow. So he shows her how to make snowballs using Mommy as “target practice.”

But matty has no idea he’s created a monster. She, is, her father’s daughter after all. He goes to pick her up and she smashed a snowball right into his face. It hurts, like, a lot, as anyone who’s been hit in the face with a snowball undoubtedly knows (me). But he’s not about to make her feel bad so he just keeps a straight face and smiles at her.

She insists she’s tall enough to build the snowman but even though its bottom half is getting to be bigger than her. Matty lets her think shes contributing significantly to the snowman but in reality, half the snow is falling out of her tiny little palm before it even reaches the body of the snowman. Without mom and dad, Olaf would be a dream. But she’s so proud of herself and giggling and constantly repeating “it’s a snowman!” so they indulge her.

When it’s all done, they ask her if she wants to take a picture next to it. “What shall we call him? What’s his name?”

She instantly says “Olaf”

Matty goes to say something, but his wife knows him well enough to stop him. “Let her. She’s a child.”

“An unoriginal child?”

“No. Just a child.”

“Fine, okay, he’s Olaf today, but we’re getting her more winter themed kid films. Being a child is no excuse for being basic.” (Spoiler alert: she’s one of those incredibly picky kids. Much to Matty’s horror, she refuses to try out other snowmen but will insist on replaying “let it go” like sixteen million times all winter.)

They set up the camera, go to stand next to Olaf, and that’s when she gives him her scarf.

Matty’s like “you’re so sweet” and she says she didn’t want him to be cold. We’re all wearing stuff and he’s not. Right then and there, he starts sobbing. The missus begs him to cut it out and stop scaring his daughter but he just says she’s already got good big sister instincts and we should just give her a sibling.
