The only sound you can hear is your own steps on the pavement as you run to your bus stop, you are late, so late. You knew the ninth time hitting snooze this morning was too many, but of course, you did it anyway. The weather outside is slowly getting colder and gloomier as the world prepares for autumn to come, so what could a few more moments in your warm bed hurt?
As it turns out, your feet, the concrete was unforgiving and your flat-soled shoes provided little cushioning. Pushing the last few blocks to your stop your lungs were starting to burn, running was not typically something you took joy in. Rounding the corner, something felt out of place.
The early morning haze was interrupted by the glow of a neon “open” sign affixed to the window of the only permanent building near the bus stop shelter. This building never stood out to you, it was always quiet and dark when you got on and off the bus. Every morning and every evening, without fail whoever owned the building got there after you and left before you. The smell of spices wafted out of the door and almost made you stop before you realized this all meant that you were even later than you thought you were. The bus you usually take was long gone by now and you didn’t even know the schedule well enough to know when the next one would arrive.
Sighing, you accepted your fate and moved toward the shelter and squatted in front of where the stray cats always play. A small orange kitten was playing with the weeds growing out from the cracks in the sidewalk. You reached out to pet him, and as soon as his attention settled on you, he flopped to the side and tried to playfully bite your fingers as you wiggled them.
You heard the bus approach the kitten trotted away toward the restaurant. Once settled in your seat on the bus you check your watch, 7:45 am and still another 15 minute bus ride to work. You sigh and prepare yourself for the reprimand you will surely get once you arrive.
“You’re late.”
“I know, I’m so sorry, Ms. Lee,” you bowed your head apologetically, “I missed the first bus…I had to wait for the next one.” Ms. Lee, the head nurse of your unit, swiveled around in her chair.
“Well, you could have called,” she gestured to the phone at the nurse’s station, “Eunbi had to stay after her night shift to cover for you.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Just don’t let it happen again,” she stood up from her chair, “Get changed,” she began to walk away and turned back to you briefly, “Oh, and Y/N?” You nodded, “I’m sure you won’t mind staying late tonight to even out the shifts for Eunbi, hm?”
“Of course not,” you muttered, a certain dread settled in your stomach as you walked to the nurse’s changing room. By staying late tonight you will run into the same problem you had this morning. You don’t know the next bus after your usual one. You shuffled into the room and caught sight of Eunbi slipping into her coat.
“Good morning, Y/N!” She smiled at you.
“Eunbi, I’m so sorry for making you stay late!” You slumped against your locker, “it was a total accident I missed my bus and-”
“Woah!” She laughed and reached out to smooth her hands over your arms. “It’s totally okay, it happens, you’ve covered for me before.”
“It’s just that…Ms. Lee,” you started.
“She’s a crotchety old bat,” she rolled her eyes. “We all think so, no one else here is mad at you.”
“Thank you,” you let go of a breath you didn’t know you were holding in, “but I’m still covering the first 45 minutes of your shift tonight, don’t try to tell me no.”
“Alright, alright, see you at shift change.” She smiled and squeezed your arms before leaving you alone in the quiet room. After changing as quickly as possible you made your way back to the nurse’s station to catch up on what you missed.
“Mr. Kang in 304 has been looking for you all morning,” Ms. Lee informed you as she pushed his file into your hand, “he will only take his medication from you if you could help him right away.”
Your knock on the door of room 304 echoed down the hallway. It was still early so the quiet of a hospital before a day begins was generally still intact. You pushed through the door to see Mr. Kang propped up on his pillows, smiling at you.
Mr. Kang has been in your care since you started at this hospital a few months ago. You work in the long term care unit, so it isn’t uncommon for patients to form attachments to nurses here. He was an old man, probably old enough to be your grandpa, who became a widower years ago. A week or so before you started here he had a terrible fall at home, breaking his hip.
“Good morning Mr. Kang!” You mustered a smile.
“Good morning, Y/N.” He smiled softly and attempted to sit up straighter. You moved to his side quickly to help him with the pillows.
“So,” you sat in the chair near his bed when he was settled, “I hear you aren’t taking your pills from Ms. Lee or Eunbi?”
“Is that what Ms. Lee said?” He chuckled, “it’s not that I won't, it's just that I’m used to it being you in the morning, and when it’s not, I have trouble.”
“Be that as it may, you still need your medication, Mr. Kang.” You informed him before moving to retrieve the medication.
“It’s a bit late now,” he started, you sighed thinking he was going to try and get out of taking the medication, “but could you take me to the big windows to watch the rest of the sunrise?”
“Tell you what,” you begin to divide the pills into small cups, “take your pills, no complaints, and I’ll take you.” Mr. Kang eagerly agreed. You helped him into his wheelchair and the two of you made the short trek to the back of the wing where the big windows were.
Mr. Kang told you about how he and his wife used to watch the sunset every Saturday morning while they ate breakfast together. These mornings were the highlight of his week, he was so happy to just have moments with his wife where time didn’t matter, just the two of them. Every time he tells you this story, or something similar about his wife, you are struck with the fact that you never have the time to do anything like this. Since graduating nursing school your life has been scheduled out to the minute. This morning at the bus stop was the first time in months that you felt the urge to go against that schedule.
“It’s going to snow soon,” Mr. Kang pulled you out of your thoughts. He pointed a crooked finger at the dark clouds overhead. “Be careful going home tonight, I remember how unreliable those buses can be.”
The cold winter air stung your cheeks and whipped your hair. Mr. Kang was right, it would snow today, the day you had to stay late and miss your bus. Because of the weather the buses weren’t running on schedule, you waited for almost an hour at the bus stop and no one ever came. You had to walk home.
The snow swirled around you and made it difficult to see, you knew that you were almost home, or at least, it felt that way. You were soaked and freezing to the bone, you’d be lucky if you woke up with just a cold tomorrow. Just as the shelter of your bus stop was starting to materialize through the snow you felt your foot catch the curb in front of you. You attempted to catch yourself but there was no use, you were falling. When you open your eyes to assess the situation you realize you fell into an alleyway and were lying on the ground staring up at a few trash cans.
Just as you decided that maybe you should just lay here and die, you hear the door of the building to your left open. A man is yelling in a language you don’t understand, is he yelling at you? Before you had any time to think about that you felt a hand on the back of your coat, pulling you up off the ground.
“Oh,” the man blinked down at you, “it’s you.” With that he pulled you inside. He placed you in a corner near the front door. “Stay there.” He instructed you and held his hands out as if he was taming a wild animal. He backed away from you slowly for several steps then turned on his heel and ran into a back room. You heard him rifling through things for several minutes.
Beyond that the only sounds in the small room were the dripping of melted snow off your coat and on to the floor. You took in your surroundings, slowly dethawing. The room was actually a small restaurant, with tables crammed into the small space. The room the man disappeared into was near the kitchen, judging by the location of the window behind the counter.
“You must be freezing,” he emerged from the room with a stack of clothes, “why didn’t you take the bus in this weather?” He was scolding you like you were best friends for years.
“I’m sorry? Do we know each other?”
“No, not really,” he blinked at you.
“Then…” you searched his face.
“You get on the bus when I get off,” he stated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, “and in the evenings, you get off the bus when I get on.” He held the clothes out to you again, as if to remind you why you’re in his restaurant. “You’re dripping on my floor.” He mumbled.
“Oh!” You gasped and began searching for a place to hang your coat. He placed the stack of clothes on a nearby table and helped you out of your coat.
“Take them,” he gestured to the clothes with his elbow, “the bathroom is back near the kitchen, change and warm up.” You nodded at the strange man’s kindness and headed to the bathroom to change.
You peeled your wet clothes away from your skin, grateful to be rid of them. In the kitchen you heard pots and pans clanging and soon there was a spicy aroma engulfing the entire building. Once you were ready you walked back into the main dining area. The clothes he lent you were far too big for you, the sweatpants were dragging on the floor and you felt like you were swimming in the oversized hoodie, but you were thankful to be warm.
“Have a seat anywhere!” He called through the window from the kitchen, “it’s almost ready!” You had no idea what he was making or why but you would be thankful for a warm meal after the day you had. The chair scraped across the floor of the otherwise quiet restaurant. Now that you could feel your toes you took another look around the space. The neon sign that you remembered from this morning was turned off, and the windows had their blinds closed. It was like the entire building was shut off from the outside world. Seeing it this way from inside was strange, as it usually was buttoned up like this when you saw it waiting for the bus. Which would make sense, you realized, if what he said was true, that you were on the opposite side of the bus schedule on a normal day.
“I made soup,” he emerged from the kitchen carrying a tray with two bowls. He sat the tray on the table in front of you and contemplated sitting down for a few seconds too long for someone who made two bowls, clearly for the both of you. Finally, he plopped into the chair across from you and passed you a spoon. He moved one of the bowls from the tray so it was in front of him. You watched as he took a large spoonful, blew on it lightly, and popped it into his mouth. His eyes closed and he was obviously proud of the dish.
Suddenly, his eyes snapped open and he stared at you. “Do you like spice?” he asked around the soup in his mouth, sounding muffled and panicked. You couldn’t help it, you burst out laughing. His eyes grew wider than you had seen them all night and he swallowed his mouthful.
“I’m so sorry,” you tried to control the giggling, “yes I’m fine with spice. Is this spicy?”
“Oh, yes,” he nodded enthusiastically, “it’s called Hulatang which literally means peppery and spicy soup. It’ll clear your sinuses.”
“You didn’t poison it, right?”
“What?” He looked at you bewildered.
“Well, you picked me up out of the trash,” you bring your spoon to your lips, “and I don’t even know your name.” You put the spoon in your mouth. The flavor blossoms on your tongue.
“Junhui”
“Okay, Junhui.” You nod, “can I have a glass of water?” He scrambled behind the counter to find a glass. He returned quickly.
“Is it too much?” He asked, sitting back down, “I handle spice well, so I can’t tell.”
“No, no,” you sipped your water, “it’s good, so good.” He smiled and went back to his meal. The two of you ate in silence until the bowls were empty and you felt warm from the spicy broth.
“I thought you were a raccoon earlier.” He blurted out of the blue as he was clearing the dishes from the table. “The raccoons always get in my trash, I was surprised they would be out in this weather though.” He continued, “I do worry about the cats though…”
“First snow of the year, and it’s brutal,” you agreed, “wait, you’re the one who feeds the cats!” You exclaim over the sound of the water turning on. You follow him back to the kitchen so you wouldn’t have to yell.
“Yeah?” He doesn’t look up from his task, “if I didn’t, who would?” He moved the pot he used to make the soup into the sink. You smiled to yourself, remembering the kitten you played with this morning.
“How long have you been feeding them?” You asked, helping him move glasses from the side into the sink. He smiled at you.
“Since I started renting this building,” he thought for a moment, “Almost three years ago.”
“That long?” You gasped, “I’ve only been living in my apartment near here for a few months. I just graduated nursing school and I got a job at the hospital.”
“Oh I live near there,” he nodded, knowing exactly where you were talking about, “we live near each other’s work places.” He pointed out.
“Suppose we do,” you smiled.
“What’s your name?” He asked, turning off the sink.
“Oh my God,” you blushed realizing you never told him, “Y/N.”
“Y/N.” He repeated softly as if tasting the new information on his tongue.
It has been four days since you met Junhui at his restaurant. You made sure to look for him while getting on and off the bus. He always smiled at you, no time to talk so smiles do just fine. You never did get the chance to ask him why he was still out that night.
You rolled over in bed and checked your phone. It was 10:40 am on your day off and you couldn’t stop thinking about the man who runs the restaurant down the street. It would be lunch time soon, maybe you could convince yourself to make the short trip over. To eat, certainly not to see him again.
Without a second thought you were out of bed and fixing your hair in the mirror. Once satisfied with how you looked, you threw on your coat and went out the door. The walk to your bus stop is short and relatively easy. The weather today was much nicer than the last time you found yourself inside Junhui’s restaurant.
The bell above the door twinkled at your entrance. You shifted awkwardly at the entrance of the building as the only other patron shot you curious glances.
“One moment!” You heard Junhui call from the kitchen. Soon, he appeared from the kitchen holding a tray similar to the one he brought your soup on a few days prior. He stumbled and almost dropped the tray when he saw you in the doorway. The other man in the room laughed and said something teasingly in a language you didn’t understand. Junhui glared at the man and then glanced back at you. “Y/N, do you speak Mandarin?” As soon as you confirmed that, no you do not, Junhui was uttering what you could only assume were curses at the other man. He set the plates of food on the table. “You can have a seat wherever you like, I’ll be right with you!” He smiled at you.
You selected a table near the kitchen, the other man was at a table near the only window in the building. The two of them continued to bicker in Mandarin for a few minutes. You smiled to yourself, Junhui seemed close with him. Eventually, he broke away, and made his way to your table.
“Hi,” you smiled at him.
“Hi,” his lips broke into a small smile, “I’m sorry about him, he’s my best friend, we’ve known each other for ages.”
“No worries,” you assured him.
“What can I get you?” He bounced awkwardly on the balls of his feet. He looked less tired today, his eyes were bright and his dark hair was tucked up into a beanie. You eyed the menu he still had tucked under his arm. “Oh!” He scrambled to grab it and all but threw it down on the table in front of you.
“Any recommendations?” You asked, scanning the menu full of dishes. He took a deep breath and sat down across from you. He started in on an explanation of the menu. You struggled to listen to everything he had to say because you were busy admiring him. He was so passionate about his recipes and the food he got to make.
“This one is my grandma’s recipe,” he pointed to an item on the menu and looked up at you with expectant eyes. “It’s ground pork and egg basically.”
“Oh yes, that sounds lovely,” you smile at him. “Tell me how to pronounce it so I can ask for it by name next time.”
“Xiándàn zhēng ròubǐng,” he collects the menu and practically skips back to the kitchen with the promise of you coming back again. You watched him go until he disappeared then you pulled out your phone to pass the time.
“I’m Minghao by the way,” you looked up to see Junhui’s friend standing in front of you. “I’ve heard a lot about you, I hope you keep coming around to keep him company.” He smiled at you before shouting Junhui’s name and telling him something in Mandarin. Junhui responded from the back and with that Minghao knocked twice on your table and turned to leave.
About ten minutes later, Junhui reemerged to clear Minghao’s table. He began clearing it of the dishes left behind.
“Did he bother you?” He asked as he passed your table with dishes stacked in his hands.
“Oh, no!” You assured him, “he just introduced himself.” You conveniently omitted the part about Minghao letting you know that Junhui had been talking about you.
“Oh, good,” he nodded, “your meal should be ready in about ten minutes, I’ll be back then.”
As promised he returned with the food you ordered and a glass of water. He set the food on the table and sat in the chair across from you. “Taste,” he told you, he could hardly contain the giddiness he felt. It was bubbling in his chest and he bounced his knee under the table to expel some of the extra energy he felt.
“Have you eaten?” You asked, picking up your spoon.
“Hm?” He blinked, “oh, no, not yet.”
“Get a spoon,” you pointed toward the counter, “we’ll share.” He smiled widely at you and quickly retrieved a spoon. The two of you split the meal, getting to know each other as you ate. You told him all about your job at the hospital and your trouble with Ms. Lee. Junhui made a disapproving noise when you told him about what happened on the day you showed up in his trash.
“She sounds horrible,” he mumbled around a mouthful of rice.
“She is!” You threw your hands up, “we all think so, even Eunbi, who is the nicest person there.”
In turn Junhui told you about how he ended up owning a restaurant at a bus stop thousands of miles from where he was raised. He was feeling stuck in the monotony of his job, which he found extremely boring, in China. So he set out to find something new and he ended up here. He tried finding a job but ultimately decided to open up this restaurant which is like a tiny slice of home for him.
The bell above the door rang out, ultimately stopping your conversation. Junhui looked up at the customer now standing in his restaurant. He shot you an apologetic look, to which you shook your head and shooed him away so he could take care of the woman.
He greeted her as you began to stack the dishes up for him. You gave a small wave as he was getting her seated. He glanced at you and held up a finger, as if to ask you to hold on for a moment. After the woman is settled in he jogs back to the room near the kitchen and comes back with his phone clutched in his hand.
“Not to be weird,” he smiled sheepishly, “but could I maybe get your number? I’d like to continue talking to you.”
Over the last week Junhui texted you a few times, mostly to send pictures of the cats. Every so often the two of you would update each other on how things are going. On one occasion Junhui requested you come retrieve leftovers from him on your day off so you had lunch for the following day.
You placed said leftovers in the microwave of the staff lounge, you felt your phone buzz in the pocket of your scrubs as you set the time. You were taking lunch later than usual today so you figured it was Junhui checking in on how the food reheated after he finished up the lunch rush. The screen lit up with text messages and notifications as you pulled it out.
Junhui: today sux
Junhui: this guy just came in DURING A RUSH and screamed at me that there wasn’t a table
Junhui: i hope the congee tasted okay reheated
Junhui: can’t talk more. people are the worst!! 😾
The microwave beeps, making you jump. You opened the door and sighed, you knew that there were bound to be days where things got to be too much for him. You were no stranger to bad days, even when you’re passionate about what you were doing. It was one of those days when you met Junhui, you knew how he felt.
As soon as your shift was over you were flying out the door. You wanted to make it to the convenience store on the corner before your bus came. Your left shoe felt like it was coming untied but you didn’t stop to check, no time. Filling your arms with jelly snacks, ramen, and a few drinks you made your way to the checkout.
You made it to the bus stop with your haul as the bus was arriving. Letting out a sigh of relief you paid your fare and found a spot to sit. Feeling a buzz in your pocket you pull out your phone once more.
Junhui: if i see another person today i might lose it
Junhui: [Attachment: 1 Image]
You smiled at the picture, it was taken from the window of Junhui’s restaurant. The neon sign is shut off and the blinds are drawn already. Perfect, this meant that he was more than likely waiting for the bus already. You could just grab him and drag him back inside.
Junhui was not at the bus stop. You walk to the front door and turn the knob, it was unlocked. His forehead was resting on the counter, he looked silly hunched over it like that. He let out an annoyed groan hearing the bell above the door.
“I’m closed,” he mumbled against the counter. When he didn’t hear you leave he snapped his head up, “I said I–oh, hi.” His tone softened immediately when he saw you standing there with a plastic sack held out in front of you.
“Hi,” you hazarded a few steps toward him, “is it safe? Or are you gonna bite my head off?”
“I’m sorry,” he chuckled airily, “it has been…a day.”
“I know,” you nodded, “I come bearing gifts.” You hold up the sack again, as a peace offering. He held out his hands, looking slightly childlike.
“Show me the haul.” The two of you go through the small store bought feast in the bag. Once he saw the cup ramen at the bottom he trotted to the kitchen to put some water on the stove to boil.
You set aside two sets of chopsticks as Junhui plopped the noodles into the pot. He told you all about the people he saw today and about while he was grateful for the business some people could just be so draining. You agreed, you loved your job but some patients were just too much to handle at times.
You watched as he tore open the flavoring packets with his teeth. He sprinkled it over the noodles in the pot, but you were still fixated on his full lips. You know that Junhui is handsome, it’s hard to miss. But should you have been staring so intently? Probably not, right?
That was what you thought until he turned and held your gaze for several moments. He seemed to be just as frozen as you were, his eyes flicked to your lips and for a second you swore he was going to kiss you.
“Ramen’s done,” he said, barely above a whisper.
The day had been uneventful. Your job was monotonous and boring, and to make matters worse you hadn’t heard from Junhui in several days. You still saw him smiling at you from the bus stop but he seemed like he had been avoiding having a real conversation with you since that day you thought he might kiss you.
You watched the city speed by out the window of the bus and wondered if you had done something wrong. Did you read him wrong? Maybe he didn’t like you at all, you’re just some weird person that showed up in his trash one day. That day wasn’t all that different from today, it was snowing again. You were surprised that there was this much time between the first and second snow this year.
Your fingers wrapped around the cord as you alerted the driver that your stop was up next. You gathered your things and prepared for the cold walk from your stop to your apartment. Junhui was standing in front of the bus stop shelter, you knew it was him by his height and the way he shrank into himself to look at his phone. The blue light caught his features in a way that made him look almost dreamlike. The brakes on the bus squealed to a stop, making him look up from his phone.
You expected him to brush you off with a smile, just as he had every day for the last week. However, he just stood there, waiting, until the moment your feet hit the ground in front of him.
“Happy second snow!” He beamed at you. You smiled up at him, just happy that he was talking to you. “I’m sorry about the other day.”
“For what?” The bus stop was clearing out quickly, no one was worried about whatever reconciliation was happening between the two of you.
“I didn’t kiss you when I should have.” He stated plainly as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. He moved closer to you and cupped your cold cheeks in his warm hands. Soon his mouth was on yours and you felt so warm that it could easily have been summer. He somehow made all of the ice melt away and it was just the two of you in the world for this moment. You wrapped your arms around his waist in an effort to bring him closer.
He broke away from you and searched your face, “Date me?” He breathed.
“Date you?” You whispered, your breath turning into fog that he breathed in as he connected your lips to his once again. This kiss was more urgent, like he was trying to convince you to say yes.
“Yes, me.” He mumbled against your mouth, “please?”
“Like right now?” You reach up to kiss him again. He hummed into your kiss.
“Like right now, tomorrow, for the rest of your life if you’ll have me,” he swept his tongue across your bottom lip, which made you shiver. You accept his tongue into your mouth for only a second before he breaks away again. “Was that too forward? I just really like you.”
“No, it was cute.” You assure him. A blush crept across his cheeks, already pink from the cold.
“Cool,” he grinned, “So?”
“Oh sure,” you rolled your eyes, “but could we maybe date inside, I’m getting cold.” He grabbed your hand and tangled his fingers with yours. He began to drag you back toward the restaurant where this all started.
“Yeah, come on,” he looked back at you, “I made soup.”

I’m writing a pinklock series and I want to add YOU in my story. (No smut!) (all spots full)
I haven’t thought of plots yet. Or characters. Even my OC I haven’t written yet. But now I’m realizing I have to write atleast the first selection. I wanna say thank you to all the people who like my writing I didn’t expect so many notes and reblogs 😞😞🙁🙁
Now— all I ask of you is that you write me the name of your character in message or asks along with the below info (in the picture) plus the form for pinklock bible.
I’m gonna write it from my OC’s perspective but I want to include as many of you guys in as I possibly can. For the first selection, we need 11x5 (team V, W, X, Y, Z)= 55 characters. I will write the entry test eliminated characters and background characters myself. But I will take up to four OCs per team so that they can move onto next rounds. Which means you guys will be eighteen including two of mine.
(Make sure your character is under-20 so that they can play to be apart of U20 later on and over 15)
Rules:
-wlw is allowed. You are allowed to relate your characters with one another (dating, sibling, parent)
-only female characters, sorry!
-you can give me more than one character (up to 4)
-no oversexualozation of characters please! I refuse to write overly sexualized female characters especially since they’re all minors.
-all must have the required skill to play soccer. And atleast one weapon.
-no characters under 15 years of age, sorry! I want them to all be atleast grade 9-10-11.
-characters must be solely pinklock players and not already world famous (otherwise your story will be boring unless you write that you want things to go downhill for that character)
-also atleast one of your characters must be a player and the rest may be fans/family/friend/another player.
-your character MUST have flaws. (Atleast 3)
-please give me the details based off the following image.
- Animal-like traits are not allowed. Only human characters.
-characters of ALL races/ethnicity are allowed but must play in Japan according to blue lock location and story.
Keep in mind that whatever age you tell me will be the age of your character during first selection which takes place in that past (Nov 18, 2018) this is because both bl and pl exist in the same timeline.
Also do send pics from Pinterest if you really want me to see what you chara looks like. Also explain their dressing style if you want cus it adds personality.
I hope this post will reach some people who are interested. If I don’t get enough responses within a given time, I will fill in my own characters. Thanks for reading and as always thank you for being here🫡🫀

Also fill out this form for our PINKLOCK bible.
Checkout the slots available in my PINKLOCK CHARACTERS post.
I’m so excited and I hope this reaches the people who fantasize about PL daily.
All people who’s character used will be tagged.

i want you for worse or for better | aether
synopsis your ex, aether, asks you to be his plus one; you were doomed from the very beginning.
tags wc 2.8k, gn!reader, modern au, profanity, getting back together, exes to lovers, humor bc i cant take my own writing seriously, ft 4GGRAVATE!!!
notes ty to @earthtooz and @naosaki helping me brainstorm w this one… our big brains were on the same wave while cooking.
Aether moved around a lot. He was never the type to settle down. It was in his blood to explore the world and leave only a trace of him behind. He was something like a hero, coming in at the worst time and leaving them better than before. You couldn’t say the same about his effect on you, though.
You told him of this before, and he slumped over and rested his head on your lap, “I don’t even mean to. Are you at least swept off your feet by my heroic deeds?”
“I was so charmed I only dated you because you have overthrown the government,” you said.
Aether had laughed then, and kissed you sweetly. You couldn’t fool him for a second—how you melted to the kiss spoke for itself. You loved him for so much more than that.
But you also knew that it wouldn’t last long. Aether warned you about it, too; you couldn’t even be mad. How could you blame anyone but yourself when you deliberately brushed past all the warning signs?
“I don’t stay,” Aether told you, at the time. “If you want to do this…”
“I know,” you said, at the time. “I know what I’m getting myself into. So will you just kiss me already?”
Well, you should’ve known, too, that falling out of love with Aether wouldn’t be as easy as falling in love with him. Not when he kissed you like he would never leave, anyway. You were doomed from the very beginning.
“You’ve been staring at your phone for a worryingly long time now,” Tighnari said, eyeing you from the top of his cards.
You were seated on Alhaitham’s living room couch, the four boys lounging on the floor playing TCG. Cyno was winning effortlessly against Kaveh, but against Tighnari, he found himself at a loss. Alhaitham was continuing Cyno’s winning streak on his behalf, while Cyno was down two rounds from playing with Tighnari. You had been playing, too, but your phone lit up and displayed a name that had you dropping your cards and hiding your screen from your friends’ view.
You bit your lip and reread the message for the third time. The previous texts had been months ago, with him wishing you a happy birthday. You replied with a Thank you and a red heart emoji, because the <3 emoticon felt too intimate.
“Aether texted me,” you murmured, then braced yourself for the explosion.
It was Kaveh that did. “Aether? As in your ex, Aether? That Aether?” Kaveh demanded.
“Do you know other Aethers?” Alhaitham quipped, then placed a card that had Kaveh clutching his head and groaning.
“Shut up,” Kaveh hissed, mostly because he lost. “The point is—that’s your ex! What did he say?”
You buried your face on the couch pillow, hating how your heart was racing. Like you were still in high school, or something, and not a full-grown adult who was having a crisis over their ex texting them. “He said hey are you up?, all lowercase, no comma.”
“No comma,” Kaveh repeated with a suspicious look on his face.
“No need to be so wary,” Cyno said. “His intentions don't appear to deliberately cause any 'comma-tion’.”
Tighnari’s ears dropped along with his face.
“Do you get it?” Cyno seemed proud that he was able to come up with that one right away. “There was no comma. It was a wordplay on commotion—”
“Did he also say what he was texting you for?” Kaveh interrupted loudly. “If he wants something, send a picture of us and tell him you’re busy.”
“Aether’s not like that,” you murmured in defeat.
Kaveh was making him out to be some sort of playboy. Aether wasn’t, which made you worry more. You didn’t want to entertain someone who left you, but you still cared enough to wonder if something came up and he needed you.
“You’re going to reply?” Tighnari asked.
“Yes,” you said, typing out a what’s up? and hitting Send. You didn’t know why you had butterflies in your stomach—you used to shower with Aether back when you were still together; there was no need to be so nervous. “He’s your friend, too, you know.”
“You were our friend first,” Kaveh said. “And he broke your heart. That’s not something to be taken lightly.”
You felt warm, a smile blooming on your face. “It’s okay. I wasn’t that affected.”
“You were,” Kaveh, Tighnari, and Cyno chorused.
“Fuck you,” you said, smile dropping.
Aether was typing again. You sat up straight and watched the three dots do the worm on the bottom of your screen.
hi :) how are you?
Ugh. Furiously, you typed, aether spit it out. did something happen?
okay okay
You expected that he just wanted something. Something had to have come up for him to text you after months. That didn’t make it hurt any less, though. Maybe Aether was a playboy; the way he played with your feelings almost qualified him for it.
But then you think back to when Aether was still in Sumeru, lighting up the room, lighting up a fire in your heart. He was everyone’s favorite, too, not just yours. And even if Kaveh and the others denied it now, they hadn’t been able to deny him back then. Aether helped them out in ways they didn’t know how to repay. Aether made you so happy, to be thinking so negatively about him like this.
Aether sent: i’m invited to aymar’s wedding and i wanted to ask if you would agree to be my plus one
why me?
you’re the first person i thought of.
Perhaps he wasn’t in trouble—he was trouble enough. What were you getting yourself into?
i thought you didn’t want to get involved with Aymar anymore
i can’t turn down an excuse to eat free at a buffet
You sighed. You wouldn’t, either.
You frowned at your screen, wishing it was Aether in front of you instead. Maybe if you could read his expressions instead of reading between the lines of his texts, you could figure out why he invited his ex, of all the people he knew.
besides, Aether continued to text, this is probably aymar’s way of showing us that she’s over me. she has a groom now and all that
Aymar had the biggest crush on Aether, and she never hid it, even when you and Aether were dating. But despite her advances, she was a sweet girl who was just as infatuated with your ex as the rest of Teyvat was. Maybe this was her way of apologizing.
However—
she didn’t even invite me wtf
haha well is that a no?
“Guys,” you spoke up, grabbing your friends’ attention. Kaveh was still losing miserably. “Have you heard news of Aymar’s wedding?”
“Oh,” Kaveh looked thoughtful, “yes. We were invited.”
“What? Was I the only one not invited?”
“Maybe it’s because you got to date Aether and she didn’t,” Tighnari said.
You rolled your eyes. “Well, Aether’s asking me to be his plus one—and I’m going to say yes don’t look at me like that.”
Alhaitham, Cyno, and Kaveh wordlessly clear their expressions.
“Oh,” Tighnari frowned. “We weren’t planning on going.”
“We have to now!” Kaveh said. “We have to, if Y/N’s going.”
“Is this too much?”
You checked yourself out in the full-length mirror, performing a little twirl that had Kaveh clapping. Alhaitham sat beside him, briefly looking up from his book. Tighnari and Cyno were elsewhere, picking shoes for you that would be in the range of ‘cheap’ and ‘expensive, but not because I care about what Aether would think’.
“Of course not,” Kaveh said, giving a thumbs up. “You look great!”
You turned to Alhaitham next, who didn’t hesitate: “Looks good. Might as well wear yellow, too.”
You flushed hotly at his implications. “I’m not dressing up to impress him! This is a formal event, which he happened to invite me to—as friends.”
“Right,” Alhaitham drawled. He could at least pretend to believe you, but that would probably be asking too much from him already.
Kaveh nudged Alhaitham, with a bit more force than necessary. “Cut Y/N some slack.”
Alhaitham sighed imperceptibly, turning his full attention to you. “This would probably be the closure you needed,” Alhaitham said, and you recognized his way of comfort for the way it is. “You’ll find out that you’re over him after this.”
“You’re right,” you said, breathing in deep. “Yeah, you’re right.”
“So,” Kaveh stood up. “Is that what you’re buying? Let’s make haste—Cyno reserved a spot in the line for you!”
Excitement bubbled in your chest as you held the fabric to your chest.
You were definitely not over Aether.
As soon as you felt yourself fidgeting nervously a block away from the ceremony, you knew. As soon as a car rolled in and he stumbled out of the car, tripping because he was waving at you, you knew that you were so not over him.
You tried to blame the heat of the sun for how warm you suddenly felt, but you could be referring to the other sun making his merry way to you, his smile bright, all teeth. His braid could almost be a tail from how it waggled as he jogged over.
“Hey,” Aether, charming and beautiful Aether, gold and warm—your ex, Aether—breathed out, “you look great.”
“You, too.” Aether looked maddening in a suit, in the best way possible. You felt lightheaded and choked out, “Very dashing.”
“Yeah?” He grinned.
“Yeah,” you said, then turned away in case he saw the raw, unfiltered want on your face.
“Shall we?”
How cheesy. Still, you felt yourself flush as you linked your arms with his, like you were a couple. Kaveh was going to kill you—after he killed Aether first.
Aymar’s wedding was startlingly grand. You think she might just have invited the entirety of Sumeru; you might even find Lesser Lord Kusanali here, maybe.
You found your friends and settled beside them while Aether awkwardly sat on the far edge. He seemed reluctant to have space from you, so you pulled him closer.
“Hey,” Tighnari greeted him. “How have you been? You stopped sending us letters.”
Aether looked extremely uncomfortable. He must be feeling Cyno’s stern stare. “Haha. Well, yeah.”
The ceremony went as usual. The groom was someone you didn’t recognize; he looked like he was from Sumeru, all big and intimidating—the complete opposite of Aether. Aymar’s tastes changed drastically. All the same, you cheered along with the crowd when they kissed.
You haven’t been able to attend many weddings yourself, though you could always appreciate how emotional the newlyweds got. Vows were always the sweetest to hear. You’d never seen Aymar smile so wide before; then again, it was only fitting. This was her wedding day. Not that you’d know, though.
You glance to the side, catching Aether looking at the newlyweds kiss with an unreadable expression on his face. He looked like he longed for it, but that didn’t seem right. Weddings tied you down. Aether didn’t want to be tied down.
Kaveh clapped the loudest, which snapped Aether into clapping along as well.
You wondered what Aether was thinking. You wonder if he was thinking the same. Looking at the happy bride and the teary groom—could this have been you and him in another life?
Hah.
That’s a funny thought.
You bit your bottom lip to distract yourself from feeling your eyes go hot.
Aymar beamed at you two as she bounded over. “You came!” she said, though it was directed at you.
You wanted to tell her you weren’t even invited, but you felt like that would ruin the moment. Plus, it was literally her wedding. You were glad you ended up here after all the years you spent knowing each other. You smiled back, genuine, and leaned into her hug.
“Of course,” you said. “You look beautiful.”
Aymar blushed. “Thank you. You two look great as well!”
Aether shuffled beside you. “Thanks for inviting us.”
Aymar had that look in her eye that spelled suspicious.
But the past was the past. You weren’t going to get jealous when Aymar was quite literally married, and Aether wasn’t even your boyfriend anymore. “I’m glad you’re happy, Aymar,” you said.
Aymar glanced between the two of you, then finally at you. “I hope you find happiness, too, Y/N. Soon, hopefully.”
The reception started. While your friends were busy hoarding the food, you and Aether were left alone. He looked uncharacteristically nervous—it made you pity him. He was the one who asked you to come with him, but he must have felt out of place the entire time. Everyone thought he would never return, after all.
You traced the rim of your glass, hoping to appear nonchalant. “So, what have you been up to while at Fontaine? Finally moving off to Natlan?” you asked, then bit back a Find any other flings, too?
Aether sighed, twirling his champagne flute before taking a long sip. “Didn’t do too much, honestly. I spent most of my time there thinking.” His eyes flicked up to yours. “Lumine already found her place here in Teyvat, and I…”
Oh.
You were glad you held back from being petty while Aether was genuinely distressed over his journey to self-discovery. Again, you weren’t an asshole. And you still cared about Aether, despite everything, because he was hard to hate. With a sad face like that…
“Sorry,” you muttered. You didn’t mean to make him remember Lumine.
Aether laughed softly. “It’s not like that. It took me a while, but—I had already found my place, too. I was just too dumb not to realize it sooner.”
You wanted to chide him for calling himself dumb, but he was looking at you like he was waiting for you to get something. You blinked, feeling lost.
Aether tilted his head. “It’s with you.”
Your mouth hung open. “What?”
Aether went to repeat it, but Cyno and Tighnari had come back with plates heaping with food. Cyno had one on each hand, unabashed. He sat on his seat and said, in all seriousness, “We might have finished all the catering.”
Tighnari chuckled, “We didn’t, but you two should hurry and get your fill.”
You didn’t get another chance to talk with Aether privately during the reception, but it was still good fun. Aether seemed to warm up to your friends again—or, rather, your friends seemed to warm up to him again.
You shared laughs, food, and toasts with the newlyweds—but your favorite had to have been sharing glances with Aether all throughout the night.
You and Aether went ahead. Cyno and Tighnari didn’t seem surprised when you told them that you were letting Aether take you home, which would have certainly been a blow to your dignity had it been in any other situation.
“So,” you started, “what made you realize you wanted to get me back? Did you have some revelation while in Fontaine?”
“Yes, actually,” Aether said, his hands brushing against yours now and then. “For every sight and couple I saw, I just kept thinking about how you would’ve loved it there.”
“Oh.”
Aether looked bashful. The moonlight highlighted his blush well. “I thought it was because we had just broken up at the time, but I never stopped thinking about you.”
Aether kept going, but you were already sold. You already wanted to get back with him the moment he texted you with all lowercase and no commas. You were fooling no one. Not Alhaitham, not yourself. “What, so you want to take me to the City of Love?”
Aether looked at you fondly. “You would always be the first one I’d think of.”
“I curbed your wanderlust…?” You were fishing for it at this point, but being deprived of Aether’s affections for a long while did that to a person.
You felt outmaneuvered. Shouldn’t you be letting him chase after you a bit more? Why were you discarding your pride just like that? Over your ex?
Your not-ex-anymore now-boyfriend-again smiled. “You became my reason to stay.”
Well. You were doomed from the very beginning.
“Aether!” Paimon shrieked from the other room. “You have mail!”
“Alright, alright,” Aether sighed, lazily pulling himself up from his bed and trudging to the living room. Paimon held a brown envelope.
Aether opened it and withdrew the contents, puzzled.
“Ooh!” Paimon gasped. “Two invitations for a wedding? Is it for Paimon, too?”
Aether ripped the other envelope, heart stuttering at the sight of a familiar name inked on the vellum paper. He blushed. “This is—!”
“Huh? For Y/N?” Paimon snatched the invitation from Aether’s fingers. “Why was it addressed to us? Maybe they were mistaken…”
Aether read something on the back of your invitation. “I don’t think it was mistaken.”
Written with a ballpen, it said, Hi, Y/N! It’s Aymar! I don’t know Aether’s address and none of my colleagues seemed to know where his residence would be…? (Probably because Aether wasn’t even in Sumeru.) But I assumed you would be staying together, so here’s my invitation for you both—I hope you can come!
Aether recognized an opportunity when he saw one.
extras!
the ending was rlly vague so let me add: aether was planning to go back to sumeru for you already and the wedding invitation was a perfect excuse—he flew out back to sumeru literally the next day.
earthtooz was making out with alhaitham & art was making out w kaveh during the reception which is why they dont show up during the end thanks
cyno brought his tcg deck and made tighnari bring his own—thats what they did during the afterparty lol
don’t ask if paimon was floating or if she was on the ground. sometimes we dont have to question things.
aymar was a name i just grabbed from the list of sumeru npcs—i don’t actually know if i butchered her personality horribly. if i did, forgive me.
THANK YOU FOR READING HOPE U ENJOYED!! LMK WHAT U THINK <3333 comments/rbs get a kiss from aether

🩵 THE CHAMELEON 🩵
BI-HAN x B!F WIFE READER W/ FRIENDS
Summary: Bi-Han, Kuai Liang, Tomas, Johnny, Kung Lao, Kenshin, Liu Kang, Raiden are playing a game you brought from home for them to try. You believed they would have fun
Tags: Drama, competition, comedy, death-threat, fun & games
A/N: You thought it was a funny and bad idea
╚══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══╝╚══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══╝
You had your husband and friends sitting at a round table in the dining hall. You brought over a box that said “CHAMELEON” on it.
You made yourself comfortable on your husband’s lap. Tying your locs up in a bun, so it won’t be in his face. Because standing all day with a big pregnant belly was straining.
“What is this Y/N?” Liu Kang asked curiously.
“This my good friend is the game Chameleon! It’s a fun game I play with my family. I thought it’ll be fun to share with you guys.”
“Ooh yeah, this game is definitely something.” Johnny smirked rubbing his hands together.
You smiled, “That’s the spirit Johnny, so I will do one play-through with you all. As I explain how the game works, before the kids and I prepare dinner tonight.”
“Ain’t it only supposed to be 8 players total?” Johnny looked at you.
“I’m sharing with Bi-Han.” Bi-Han’s grip around your waist tightened.
You opened the box, revealing a blue deck, a green card, and dices. You take everything out, shuffling the cards.
“So this is how it goes, the blue deck is a mixture of cards but you only get one. Doesn’t matter, the green deck will be explained later. Now out of this deck is a Chameloen, as a chameleon your are NOT to say your the chameleon. You are supposed to blend with the other players, it’s literally to see who’s lying amongst the group. Make sense?”
It was silent, before you sighed, “It’s better if we start playing as I explain along the way.”
You gave everyone there card, luckily you had the chameleon card. You whispered something in your husbands ear, he nodded and you proceeded to explain.
The green cards are the topic cards each topic has the letters and numbers that matches what they have, on there blue cards. Which ever # they role, will be the topic of discussion. And the chameleon has to figure out what the secret topic is to not be revealed.
And if the wrong person is picked as a chameleon then the actual chameleon wins the game. Because there lie was just that good. But the players can’t make there answers too obvious, as to not reveal it to the chameleon.
“These look slightly different from the original, the topics?” Johnny pointed out. There very few from his world, but ones the others would still know.
“Yea I know, I had a friend help me. Make like an outworld edition, while keeping topics of earth in there. That others could know, just to be fair.”
You were happy the game was going smoothly, you thought it’ll be chaotic. But you guessed it’s because the play-through had explanations, for them to get a feel.
You were caught as the chameleon, which you intended to help explain the final info. “Now when then chameleon is caught. I have the chance to do what Johnny?”
“If the chameleon can guess the topic we had, then she wins.”
“Correct! But sense I legit don’t know. It’s y’all win, and that’s how the game goes. Does it make sense now?”
Everyone nodded, “Awesome! I will comeback and play with you all again. Once I’m done with everything.
You slowly got up, with your husbands help you have him a sweet kiss thanking him.
“Wow isn’t that like your tenth child.” Johnny laughed at you making a joke, in all actuality this would be your fourth child.
“Johnny really?” Kenshin looked at him.
“Naw Kenshin don’t say nothing, because one thing I know is that Johnny on his tenth bitch. Which was on the news, at least I can keep a nigga.” You walked a way with a smirked, after shutting Johnny up. Kung Lao, Tomas and Kenshin were holding back laughs. The others just smirked as Johnny rolled his eyes.
╚══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══╝╚══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══╝
You hoped leaving the boys alone were alright. You quickly went the market in outworld, to get ingredients for dinner.
You didn’t have the energy to travel all the way to your world and back while pregnant. And you wanted to hurry back, in case things got out of hand with the others.
You’ve been wanting to do a bonding game with everyone for awhile… At least you think it’s a bonding game, you didn’t think they could make a game like chameleon toxic… Could they?
You quickly gather the ingredients with the help of your personal Lin Kuei guard, and rushed back to cook in the kitchen. With both your daughters and son.
As you all were preparing and cooking, you heard certain sounds. All the way in the hall area, but didn’t think much of it and continued about in the kitchen.

The Chameleon: Johnny
“Alright, remembering what Y/N said. I will just go first… I will say training.” Liu Kang gave his answer, trying his best not to give it away or be to vague.
“I would say Talent.” Johnny said.
“Practice.” Kung Lao said.
“Is that not the same thing as training?” Kuai Liang questioned.
“That is somewhat the same Kung Lao.” Tomas interjected.
“Ughh fine umm… Determination, then.” Kung Lao gave his new answer.
“Hmm, this is somewhat hard without giving it away…” Raiden was thinking.
“Stalling makes you look suspicious.” Johnny stated leaning back with his hands behind his head.
“So is pressuring others to quickly respond Johnny!? Let him think, there isn’t a timer on this game.” Kenshin retorted.
“Hey I’m just saying, I’m already debating my vote.”
“I got it! Upbringing.” Raiden finally said his.
“Tyrant.” Kenshin said his.
“Pfft yeah good one.” Johnny said under his breath.
“You got something to say!?” Kenshin slightly stood up, before Liu Kang gently pushed him back down.
“Umm, what about Tournament.” Tomas said, “That is a very good one Tomas.” Liu Kang praised him.
“Born.” Kaui Liang gave his.
“Lin Kuei.” Bi-Han said for this.
“That is the most vaguest shit I have ever heard out of all these lame ass answers.”
“If you have a problem with it STARBOY! Keep it to yourself! Your answer is not any better!” Bi-han stood up glaring at Johnny.
“Brother let’s just calm down, it’s just a game.” Kuai Liang tried to calm his brother.
“I say we should start voting, even though a lot of these answers aren’t that great. Kenshin and Bi-Han has the worst ones.”
“What!” Bi-han and Kenshin said in unison.
“You are full of shit Johnny, your answer being Talent, is way out of character compared to all our responses!”
“Hey my response, makes more sense then most! You’re upset, because you’d get caught!” Johnny yelled explaining.
“If I’m being honest… Kung Lao’s answer, makes me skeptical.” Raiden spoke up.
“Ooh really now!?” Kung Lao looked at his friend
“Everyone let’s just calm down. We must let everyone speak one at a time.” Liu Kang intervened
“You’ve been talking non-stop, you made yourself suspicious from the beginning! I say Johnny is the so called Chameleon!”
“Are you fucking kidding me! The mister all things Lin Kuei! Couldn’t come up with anything else in his vocabulary! Seems very suspicious to me, I say he’s the Chameleon!”
Bi-Han was about to attack Johnny, his brothers holding him back. As everyone kept arguing back and forth.
╚══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══╝╚══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══╝
You almost finished cooking for dinner, but then you heard loud crashes and yelling.
You quickly went to the dining hall as fast as your big belly allowed. You saw there were things broken, fire and ice everywhere. Liu Kang between Johnny, Kung Lao, and Bi-Han, Raiden, Kuai Liang, and Tomas.
“Seriously guys!” You shouted getting there attention. You literally was dying inside from laughter, holding your mouth from having it come out.
“You are the only people I know in the universe that can make a fun family game THIS toxic.”
Everyone calmed down a bit, so to not get you caught up. “So no one is getting any dinner, tell y’all clean this damn mess up… Since you can’t play together, you will clean together.”
You walked away smirking shaking your head.
It only took them thirty minutes to finish, once they were done. You had your friends join you and your family for dinner.
It was a nice dinner and after everything calmed down. They laughed at how they reacted, you could tell Bi-Han was still slightly irritated. So you quickly gave him a kiss when no one was looking.
“I’m glad you all realized how ridiculous y’all were acting. I probably should’ve stayed, but don’t worry. For our next bonding game…” You quickly went to your room and came back with a deck of cards.
“Wanna do UNO next?” You grinned, they only just looked at you.
A/N: Can you imagine the chaos when these people play earth games. The shit would be hilarious.
I might make a writing series out of this, of this group playing games you suggest from your world, if y’all would like that.💅🏾

Welcome Home : Hobie x fem!reader
This is my first fic for @the-kr8tor 's Octobie event! I'm really super excited and I hope you like it :D
Synopsis: Everything sucks and then you get cat distribution systemed to Hobie.
Tags: Hobie/reader, Hobie/fem!reader, Reader is from another country, I just assumed she was american, American reader, Supposed to be in the 70's?, Just pretend it's an au if anything sounds funny about it, Hurt/comfort, wee bit of angst, crying in the rain, etc.
Note: I tried my best to write it as a hurt comfort, but I'm not sure if it turned out that way. First snippet of a series of oneshots about an American immigrant reader and Hobie! das it :)
It was a dark, but not very stormy night. London, always a gloomy one, this city was. Not that I’m any better. Through a series of events, I found myself in this here alleyway, looking for answers. Riddle me this; how does one find a man, who is a spider, who is a man? You call me, that’s how. The dame came into my office, just wanted to know who her saviour was, she said. Told me she would hand over a handsome sum of cash if I could find him. Money makes the world go round, after all. Course I agreed, I was tight-strapped this month and something had to pay that rent.
The first step to knowing about the wanted is to know about the wanter. In this case, that would be me. In reality, there was no damsel bursting into a private eye’s office, there wasn’t even a large wad of cash. Just a girl, a masked hero, and a handwritten thank-you note.
London was nowhere near the pearly and refined city it was advertised to be, especially not in this soot stained, half muddied alleyway. As for why I was found in said alleyway, several days ago, I had gotten into some trouble with some sort of crooked cop, but before anything extraordinarily unsavory could happen, I was saved in one fell swoop by a man in some strange costume. I believe that living out of hotels was taking a toll on my mental state, and living at all was taking a toll on my wallet. So, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to find who he was and thank him. A simple thank-you, that’s all, and maybe I would ask him if he was hiring.
My search took me from one end of the city to another, and eventually into this alleyway. They called him ‘Spider-Man’ or ‘Spider-Punk.’ Strange names, but I’m not too sure what I expected of a man who runs around dressed like such. At some point in my thread of conversations and inquiries, I was led to Camden, then to this very alley. Supposedly, he shows up here often, but apparently not today. That’s fine. It’s okay. I had only started my search because I had nothing better to do; I was just taking a break by doing this. Against my will, this spot made me start to think of… everything. My moving here, my lack of a job, my lack of a house, that awful place that I had left behind, my dwindling visa, it all seemed like too much; it all was too much. I leaned on a dusty hvac machine, back heavy with worries, listening to the quiet shrills and screams of some not-so-far away concert. The music had deep, billowing bass and a powerful guitar. It was like no other music I had heard before, and it called to me somewhat. Unfortunately, the rotten worms in my head were louder than the music right now. Barely overshadowed by the crackling of my thoughts was a low rumble curling in the clouds above. I sighed when I heard a clap of thunder. The muffled concert in the distance began to stop playing its heavy and low tones when the mouselike droplets evolved into a storm. I hated the rain. Not all rain, just this rain; this rain that marked the demise of my journey; this rain that reminded me I was only ever stupid and naive; this rain that told me to give up, pack my bags, and go back home; that I should have never left my country in the first place; that was the rain that I despised with all my heart. This wretched rain had gotten on my face. Yes, surely, it was the rain that was ruining the makeup I worked so hard on this morning. It was ripping up that stupid letter of mine and causing me to dig my face into my hands. All of this was blamed on the rain, who was innocent of all save for soaking my hair.
I stayed like that for a while, next to the smoother gray wall, huddled over, soaked in mostly my own misery. My own waterfalls made the rain feel like a light shower. If nowhere else, I felt allowed in this alley. That I could cry and sob and be angry and scared and cold and nobody would care because they don’t expect to see sane people in an alleyway to begin with. I most certainly do not. The tears and rain that coated my palms made them almost suction to my face, but in the midst of my dolor, I heard a voice from somewhere beside or near me.
“What’s wrong lovie?” My head dragged up from my hands after the sound of a limoncello voice hung itself in the air. After a lousy wipe of my eyes, I was able to properly see the man who cared enough about a stranger’s tears to stop and ask what they cried for. That dingy street lamp flickered its light around him like a halo. It took me a moment to register the man, his dewy chocolate skin and glossy hazelnut eyes. His face was studded with silver stars, and despite his sharp expression, he held a certain softness about him. He held a bright red umbrella, funny, he didn’t look like the type. He was a tall man for certain, craning over so he could cover me. His presence made everything stop for a moment, a still, small, and quiet recognition fell on these two strangers in this back alley of London.
“Who are you calling lovie?” My voice was like a crisp, wobbling paper. I stood up to speak with him, but by the time I was at my full height, my waterworks were, once again, in full swing. He panicked a little, holding his free hand out in the way one would to try and calm a dog you’ve never seen before.
“Woa, woa, what's the matter with you? ‘s everything alright?” I’m not quite sure what made me do it, maybe I’ve lost my mind since coming to this place, but I stood there and sobbed out everything that happened to me during my time in London. Words, and feelings, and thoughts and actions kept spilling, tumbling, out of my mouth like bricks collapsing through the bottom of a broken forklift. That whole time, he listened, actually, truly listened to the ramblings of a stranger who he’d just met in some shady back alley while it was raining. Once again, I held the feeling that everything about him glowed.
“Well, have you got any place to stay tonight?” He spoke very softly to me.
“If I did, I wouldn’t be hanging around here, would I?” I shivered like a wet rat, parts of my hair stuck to the nape of my neck. He laughs through his nose before shrugging off his studded black leather jacket and placing it around my shoulders. The lining was warm.
“Well, let’s get you washed up. You look a bloody mess.” He gave my shoulders a light tap.
“Am I bleeding?” I tapped my face a little, checking for anything warm. He gave me a funny look in response.
“Th’ name’s Hobie by the way. Hobie Brown.” I did my best to wipe my face off before telling him my name. I reached out my hand, and he gave it a quick shake.
“It’s nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too.”
I followed him around the streets like a lost puppy, clutching the coat he gave me like it was a lifeline and occasionally looking at his silent face. The pavement we passed on was glossed over with the continuing rain. We passed building after building, some separated, some connected, and others so close they might as well be. I was certainly very close to someone who could, within reason, be mistaken for a building. If I ever began to wander too close to the edge of the umbrella, a steady and gentle hand would kindly guide me back to my spot beside him. We made our way to a canal style river thing in the middle of the city. He pointed my gaze toward a houseboat floating and rolling on the water. It looked like somewhere a retired pirate would live.
The interior was surprisingly cozy despite its somewhat bare furnishings. Various knicknacks and things nestled themselves in unassuming spots around the place. The moment I set foot in the door, I felt right at home.
“Leave your shoes at the door, ’ll take that too.” Hobie. Hobie waited for me to unlatch my shoes and stand straight before taking his coat from my shoulders. I never noticed him put the umbrella away, but it’s gone, and his shoes are neatly set to the side on a not-so-neat towel. I don’t know what to say as I watch him take my shoes and line them right next to his, so I stand in the doorway and watch him wander out of view then right back in with some dry and clean clothes. He hands them to me with both hands, so that’s the exact way I receive them as I try to unclog my throat for words to flow through. I look back up at his face. He’s waiting so patiently for me to find my words, with that same sternly soft expression.
“Thank you.” The words came out a little too quiet, so I said it again.
“You’ve been nothing but kind to me, even though we just met and I-” My voice broke again when I started tearing up.
“Oh no, no, come on, love. You on’t have to cry.” Quickly, He thumbed away my budding tears, his palms warm on my face.
“I know, but I’m just- I’m so grateful, you know?” He did. He knew. I could see it in his shining gray eyes that he knew. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have waited for me to stop my crying. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have wiped away every stray tear himself. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have been so quick to open his home to me. If he didn’t, he would have never lent me that coat of his. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have handed me these clothes that I’m holding.
Once I got myself together, I was directed to the bathroom. Surprisingly, (according to him), there was warm water to shower with, and I did so happily. When I stepped into the living room I felt like I had on brand new skin. Hobie had the stove on and open while he stirred some milk into a second cup of tea. He turned around before I could even properly enter the kitchenette, as though he already knew that I was there.
“Feelin’ better yet?” He handed me the cup he was holding with a smile, a deep and pretty blue. I held it and relished in the warmth of the cup from both his hands and the tea.
“Wasn’t sure if you liked sugar, so I didn’t add any.” I wanted to cry again. He was overwhelming in all the best ways possible, but I had already put him through enough of my tears tonight, so I sucked them back in.
“I don’t” I smiled at him before taking a sip of what could very well be the best tea of my life.
“If ‘s not uncomfortable, you could stay ‘ere till you get your own base of operation.” He was leaning on the counter, index tracing the edge of his own cup while speaking. Instead of this tea, I wish I could drink the color of his eyes as they’re looking at me. I'm suddenly smiling a lot right now.
"I will, if you'll have me."

20 Questions for Fic Writers
thank you @biowaredisasterbisexual and @basedonconjecture for the tag <3
tagging @cogandstar @dellamortethelesser @rookamell @whispersleo in a gentle non-pushy way
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
Thirty-six! I'm a bit sad that I missed the last round number and didn't celebrate. Getting to the next one will take a while.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
256, 701. Mostly in one-shots.
3) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Shiva (258), What I'd Love to Hear You Say (233), First Bloom (188, E-rated; don't click unprepared), Something Comforting (155), Extra Steps (132; also E-rated).
None of the DA fics made the list... Maybe one day.
4) What fandoms do you write for?
Dragon Age, Persona 5 and 3, Zero Escape, Cyberpunk 2077.
5) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! Though I personally find it quite difficult to do. I always feel I can never express my gratitude to the commenter in a sufficient way (their comment will probably always mean more to me than my reply could to them. that sort of thing).
6) What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Yeahhhhh At the End of Her World is taking that title. Team S: Suspicion [A Dead End] is *very* close, though, but I consider it more violent than angsty.
7) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Different Tide, but Still the Same Ocean, probably. Like, imagine getting back your lover who you thought was dead? That's probably the nicest thing I've done to my characters like ever. (note that the death was canonical, I didn't kill the guy. only brought him back)
8) Do you get hate on fics?
Nope.
9) Do you write smut?
Smut makes up 30k words out of my total word count (scattered across 4 fics). Though I have a complicated relationship with all those fics since I typically write smut when I'm Going Through Things, and the association makes it hard to look at them afterwards (there is only one of these 4 fics that I can willingly re-read).
10) Do you write crossovers?
Do fusions count? I've written a Nier x Persona 5 fusion, and a Zero: Escape x Persona 5 fusion.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge. Hopefully my knowledge is correct ^_^
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
I got a request for it once! Though I don't believe it ever went anywhere.
13) Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
There is a co-written draft about two characters exchanging letters (akesumi, btw). I wrote one character's letters (Akechi), and my partner wrote the other's (Sumire). Just a draft, though, it's not finished.
14) What’s your all-time favorite ship?
You can't make me choose, and I won't. (SilverV, probably)
15) What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Ghilasara & Illario fic (platonic. friendship only) ... At a glance, it looks like the hardest idea I have right now. I'm afraid the world may never see my vision.
16) What are your writing strengths?
An author whom I respect a lot (<3) once said this about my dialogue: "I feel like I’m watching an arthouse movie or listening to a fantastic radio play."
Which is how I've come to think that I'm good at writing dialogue. Probably.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Visual descriptions my beloathed <3
It's very hard to make my aphantasiac mind care for them. Like I can't see anything in my head anyway, why should I bother describing the appearance of things, it's all the same to me. I couldn't describe a landscape to save my life (though sometimes I try, out of obligation).
Aphantasia also makes it hard for me to write action scenes since, well, I can't imagine them taking place, so I always have the question "Is it even realistic for someone to move this way?" stuck in my mind. This also applies to simple action. I did once break down in tears trying to write characters sitting on a couch pondering "b-but where would all the hands go........."
18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
Something I never cared about while I was writing for Persona, and something that I need to start thinking more actively about now. Still on the "gods, how do I put it in a fic in a nice cohesive way?" stage of thinking.
19) First fandom you wrote for?
I think that the first fandom would actually be Dragon Age. I have some drabbles about my OCs from around ~2018-2020, though those are just in my phone notes and I never published them anywhere.
First fandom I published a fic for is Mass Effect.
20) Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
I love all my children equal--At The End of Her World. Of course, it's At The End of Her World. Not in the least because I consider it my most successful imitation of the writing style that I really like (Another Country by James Baldwin marry meeee <3), so that's a point of pride for me personally. Plus, not to pat myself on the back, the concept is kind of cool. All hail the divorce ٩(^◡^✿)۶

Thanks for the tag @whatwewrotepodcast
Write a sentence or short paragraph starting with each letter of the alphabet

“And you just drank the whole thing.”

“Three of them, one after the other.”
E- Euros, krona, yen, pesos, dollars…who needed to keep this much physical money, and in so many different denominations?
F- “First a drizzle, then a shower, and now a fully fledged hurricane?”
“I told you that rain spell was beyond your skill level!”
G- “Giving me, a newly promoted Ensign command of the King’s new man-of-war is a terrible idea. But since the last battle wiped out all the senior officers, I have no choice but to go out and disappoint the entire navy.”
H- He liked the desert. There was a stark beauty to the red rocks silhouetted against the sky, to the sand dunes and the rare oasis.
I- “I guess I got the order of applying the cream and jam on the scone wrong?”
“What do you think?”
“I think if I ever step in Cornwall again, the locals will be displaying my head on a spike.”
J-“Jerk chicken?”
“What’s wrong with that?”
“This is an Indonesian restaurant.”
K- “Kelpies, redcaps, banshees…is there anything here that won’t spell my doom?”
L- Last customer just went on a rant after I said we cannot make a steaming iced decaf coffee with three shots of espresso and ‘extra creamy’ whipped cream. I’d quit, but I have rent and student loans to pay.
M- “Mari Lwyd is outside the door.”
“What?”
N- Nine of Swords, The Chariot reversed…and the third card was blank.
O-“Oak? He always used mesquite.”
P- Plutonium. More than enough to blow the city sky high.
Q- “Queen to D6, you said? Well, you just made a big blunder. King to C8. Stalemate.”
R- Right on cue, a column of thick black smoke appeared over the hedgerow.
S- “Seduction? Really?”
“You should have put all your points into charisma.”
T- “To my eye, it looks like a black hole.”
“And you’re taking the ship right into it!”
U- Under the floorboards, behind the bookshelf, inside the fireplace…the priest hole was somewhere nearby.
V- Velvet curtains. Smooth to the touch, and wet with the Baron’s blood.
W- “Why must I pay more money for a game I paid in full two days ago!!??”
X- “Xavier…I think there’s a reason most bards don’t play kazoo.”
Y- You’re telling me the battle of Hastings, the destruction of Pompeii, and the fall of the Round Table were all your fault?”
“They were all accidents! Well, I had no choice with Pompeii, and I could not change history and let Arthur have a happy ending. And don’t get me started about that meddling monk!”
Z- Zero hundred hours. Time to get to work.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks for the tag @seek--rest!
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
25
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
481,951
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Spider-Man, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and The Bear
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Puzzle Pieces, across the hall, 106 miles, maroon, baby, it’s the way you touch me
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
ALWAYS! It might take me a while to get round to them sometimes but I absolutely love replying to comments. I always appreciate that someone has taken the time to leave one and I love giving the same energy back.
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Definitely timeless.
…for now 😈
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I’m a sucker for a happy ending so this is hard to choose but I think A Sticky Situation or letters we never sent are the most lighthearted.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Fortunately not. Every once in a while I’ll get a passive aggressive comment from someone who doesn’t like the direction a story is going. (Usually when things are more complex than ‘kiss and make up straight away’.) But it doesn’t bother me.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Love to write smut. Smut is one of the best vehicles for character exploration and introspection in my opinion. The thoughts, movements, feelings that a person has in a moment of intimacy are so fascinating to me and are a great way to ‘get to know’ the character, so to speak. Also?? It’s hot???
10. Do you write crossovers?
No, but I’d love to try one day!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not yet!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
spotlights and moonlight (w @seek--rest) is my first ever collab and it’s been very very fun so far. Look forward to doing more co-writing in the future.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
PeterMJ
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
None! chiaroscuro, glitch, across the hall, and spotlights and moonlight are my only posted WIPs and I have plans to finish all of them!
16. What are your writing strengths?
Two I can think of—one that I believe about myself and another that people tend to tell me. In my opinion, I think I’m good at character building, at doing a deep dive into a character’s psyche and fleshing them out so that they feel like a real person in a real world. Other people often tell me that my writing is immersive and easy to picture/imagine—almost like watching a show or movie.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I can often be a very dense writer—which means word counts can get away from me and things can be overly descriptive which I imagine some readers might find boring.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Never tried it! The only language I would be able to try would be French but don’t have any plans to right now!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
This is a horrible question and the answer would change every day but I’ll give one per fandom: timeless (Spider-Man), Bad Days (TFATWS), 106 miles (The Bear).
Tagging @tllgrrl, @palettesofrenaissance-main, @tvfanatic97-2 to answer next! 🫶🏾

Let me show you... Youtube - chapter 22

Trigger warning : once sentence speak about unaliving themselves.
If you are interested in reading this fic, the tag "#twst lmsyy" will give you all the chapters.
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
Victoria finished her breakfast easily in 5min. The man was impressed. “You were this hungry ?”
Victoria scratched her cheek. “I have the tendency to eat fast what I love. I try to slow down when it is noon, to not be bloated while working.”
Crewel nodded. “Do you want to cruise around ? Unless you know what you want ?”
Victoria answered quite fast. “No, I have no idea. Is there some exposition of stuff like that ? I would love to see everything if I can, but it is not possible I think.”
The man laughed. “It is too big to see everything and the match, but there are some exposition. You have photography, art and craft, board games…The choice is yours too make.”
She was hyped. “So many interesting things… Let’s go to art and craft then. I am wondering what an all boy school has to offer.”
Crewel gasped. “Are you saying that men can’t be creative ? In front of me, a fashion designer ?” He teased her.
Victoria laughed and wheezed. “Oh I am sorry mister successful. But I like to think you are the exception of this world !”
The man’s cheeks reddened a little. “Thanks…”
Victoria smiled, not understanding why he became pink. “? You’re welcome.”
They went to the art and craft exposition and Victoria was impressed by the quality of the goods. They were a particular painting that she liked. It was titled “Paranoia” and represented the silhouette of a man, in a fetal position, in the midst of a violent whirlwind of red and blue with white and black writings on it.
Crewel only saw something violent, but she recognized herself when she had an episode. Alone in the world against her violent brain, lying to her. It could go from the simple noise to the impression that someone wanted to unalive her… Having such a brain was hard.
Crewel had the time to do the round of all the exposition but she was still admiring the painting. He interrupted her. “Are you alright ?”
She answered simply. “I want to buy this painting if I can.”
She went to ask one of the person in charge. “I am sorry, I would like to know if this painting is up for sale ?”
The student nearly choked on his drink. “You… Want to buy this painting ? The paranoia one ? Really ?”
Victoria nodded. “Yeah, I like it very much. It is a powerful painting.”
The poor teenager didn’t know what to answer. “Erm, I can contact him to know if he wishes to sell it… Can I have your number to text you his answer ?”
The woman smiled. “Perfect. It is X61…”
When she finished, Crewel asked. “What do you see in this portrait that interests you so much ?”
Victoria smiled. “The accuracy of this feeling.”
Crewel was shocked by her answer. “Do you know someone with paranoia ?”
Victoria looked into his eyes, with all the confidence in the world. “Me.”
The man was flabbergasted. “Wh-What ? What do you mean ?”
The woman only smiled. “Let’s go.”
They approached the stadium, with Crewel mind full of questions. What did she mean by that ? Ok, everyone had a little paranoia crisis once in his life, but to the point of buying a painting of it ? Maybe she was… Sick ?
Before Crewel could have guessed more, a commotion happened.
A large crowd movement happened, nearly pulling Victoria out of grasp. Thanks to his quick reflexes, he pulled her close. Once the crowd went away, Crewel looked at Victoria, worried. “Is everything alright ? You’re not hurt ?”
Victoria, shocked by the sudden commotion, only stuttered. “N-No, I… I’m okay. W-What happened to all those people ?”
Crewel looked into her eyes. She seemed to focus back on him. She became red. She whispered. “Wow, you’re beautiful.”
Crewel seemed to come back to his senses. Their bodies were close. Like, closer would mean fusion. He also became red. They both let go of the other. “I’m sorry, the crowd…”
She answered awkwardly. “Y-Yeah, I understand.”
Once they were calmer, she looked at the stadium. “I don’t know why but I have a very bad feeling… Like something really bad is going to happen during this Magift tournament…” [I mean, Leona is supposed to overblot now.]
He shrugged. “Well you know boys, they are rowdy, it is normal for accidents to happen.”
She felt sick in her stomach. It was like her guts sinked in the ground. She whispered. “My babies… Buddha, please protect them.”
Crewel squeezed her hand. “Are you alright ? Do you want to go to the infirmary ?”
She squeezed his hand back. “I just need to sit a little with juice… I feel faint.”
They sat near the stadium. Noise from an argument between multiple people could be heard. Victoria tried to focus on her juice, it was hard. Hard because a battle of the century was happening near them and no one knew it except her. It was hard to pretend to not know what was happening when you perfectly KNEW what was happening.
The headmage passed in front of them, running. Crewel frowned. “I don’t like what is happening… If you feel well, we should follow him.”
Victoria threw her empty cup in the trash can. She was full of determination. “Let’s go.”
They entered the stadium. The air was full of dust. It was pure havoc. The students were all send flying at various places in the stadium, but Leona was back to normal. Victoria sighed. That was the end…
She ran to the first year. “Everyone is ok ? Does someone need to go to the infirmary ?”
Yuu got up first and ran to hug the woman. “V-Victoria, I was scared !!”
She hugged them back. “I am here baby, I am here. I can bite them for you if you want.”
There was a blank and everyone looked at her flabbergasted. Ace was the one to voice what everyone thought. “What ? You want to bite Leona ?”
Victoria looked at him deadpan. “Why not ? Is there a law protecting him ?”
Ace short circuited. “YOU’RE IMPOSSIBLE !!!!”
Once everyone was feeling better, the match took place. Victoria harassed Crowley to be in the front row in the VIP lounge so she could film everything. Before the match, when every player was taking place in the field, she did THE mom thing. She waved. “Griiim ! Yuuuu !! Mom is proud of you !!! Look at the camera !”
That made Yuu burst out laughing and waved back to Victoria. Grim waved a bit, embarrassed by the “mom energy” coming from the older woman.
The match played out in front of her camera. She zoomed, unzoomed,... Thanks to the Great Seven her phone had a lot of options in that area. It may have cost a month's salary but it was an efficient phone. -No it wasn’t an Apple one ;)-
She was overjoyed. They looked so cool !!
She heard a whisper. “I… Hate… You.”

WIP W/E but we're doing Sunday today
I've got a tag backlog of like 5 of these lmao so @ghostoffuturespast thank you for tagging me and waiting like 3 months before I had time lol 💜
Extra long one because hell I haven't shared anything in like 3 months and I wanted to assure everyone that I am in fact not dead.
From Rain in the Desert chapter 18. Mikoshi Chapter. Top 10 Conversations Held Right Before Disaster:
Whether she expected that to be met with laughter or annoyance, it hardly matters, because all Johnny gives her is one sagely nod. “Like I said, got all the time in the world now. Should think about what I told you last night, if you want a place to start, at least.” “Find my mom?” “Leave the city. Not just because you should and you’re too stubborn to see it yet— lotta heat’s gonna fall on you once this is all over. They’ll swarm your apartment, knock on some of your friends’ doors and give ‘em a shakedown, all the works. Sometimes, the best way to keep the people who care about you safe is to smash your holo with a hammer and fuck off into the desert for a couple years.” “Even without you in my head, I’m still finding ways to run through all your greatest hits.” “Say it like that’s a bad thing.” “No comment. And you, though? You come up with a plan yet?”
“Workin’ on it. Think it over for a bit, weigh some pros and cons, see if I like what I come up with. I'll burn that bridge when I get there.” “Just be careful.” “Always am, kid, but thanks for the pep talk.” “Will I ever see you again?” The words slip from her without thought. It’s like the one she asked on that overlook behind Westbrook, or in that booth inside the Afterlife, or shin-deep in the waves of the Pacific. A question born of pure, pathetic desperation— of a need for him to verify something in herself that she can’t even begin to explain. Because when the wall between them came crumbling down, there was no going back, all of her awful thoughts became his and all of his terrible dreams became hers. But now it’s been built back up and she’s left pounding on the bricks, screaming out for an answer that will never ever come. It doesn’t have to be loud, or resolute, or even honest. If she can just hear his voice join her own through all the miles between them, then could be she can find it in herself to live with that. Just something, a single word. Anything to prove that she isn’t on her own in this. But rather than give her that, the corners of Johnny’s mouth slowly draw up into a toothy smile. “Is that fondness I hear in your voice, princess?” he teases. It’s right around there V learns that code can, in no uncertain terms, flush, “Shut up.” “Sayin’ you’re actually gonna miss havin’ my shitty little thoughts ringin’ ‘round up in your head?” “Shut up. Johnny.” The look he throws her at that almost makes V wish that Alt would come back and Soulkill her all over again, “Always thought you wore sentimentality like a pair of shackles and a straitjacket, but this is somethin’ else. You mean I might actually see you shed a few tears when Alt starts cartin’ me off?” “Jesus, forget I said anything. Ask a genuine question and I end up getting grilled for it like I’m on some shitty daytime talk show,” V grits out, hand against her brow in an effort to shield her burning face, “Wanna toss jokes about me being ‘sentimental’, y’know, but here you are not even taking a lick of this seriously when I’m trying to be on the level. You want to know what you’ll actually see when you go, Johnny? How about me flipping you one last bird for the road, since apparently your gonk ass can’t bear to not make light about this shit for five fucking minutes.” “...I’ll miss your shitty little thoughts too, if it means anythin’.” V glances up. Johnny hadn’t been looking at her anymore but as if sensing it return, his gaze does rise to tangle up in hers again. His body betrays nothing, almost; she doesn’t miss the way his fingers have curled in tight around his latest cigarette, metal knuckles rasping some discordant song against the tabletop. And maybe that’s the thing she’d forgotten about being human. That words are incoherent things, and so rarely do they mean what we want them to. Well, when you’re stuck there pounding on a wall, what better way to say that you’re not alone in this than to pound back? “This won’t be the end, though, right?” the chain around V’s neck tightens; she’s got the pendant and dog tags locked in a visegrip again, “I mean, if I manage to find my way back to the Blackwall again, maybe Alt can…I don’t know, carry a message over? Let me through from time to time?” Johnny’s smile is small, and restrained, and probably speaks to something they both know can never really be, but for a moment, maybe pretending that it could can somehow be enough; “We’ll work somethin’ out, princess.”
If or when I have a new WIP to share, I'll probably do a WIP share tag then! But thank you again to everyone who's tagged me over the past couple of months!
