Hello! Before I get to the request, I just wanted to say thank you for writing what you write! I was super stressed out last month and I wanted something to take my mind off of it, so I was going through the Rex tag when I found some of the stuff you wrote. I don't remember what it was but it was one of the tbb and rex hcs. I clearly loved them.

So I was wondering if you would ever expand on the hcs? I really love the Crosshair helmet kiss one and I would love to read like maybe a build-up to that scene or maybe an aftermath of it

With a kiss that had you thinking non stop for days, what happens when Crosshair pulls you aside and lays it all on the table to you?

Masterlist

You heard footsteps behind you and you were certain it was Crosshair who was about to give you a telling off. But when you turned around to face him, you didn’t expect him to be ripping his helmet off and tossing it to the side as he bound towards you.

“If you’re gonna kiss me, do it properly.”

In a second, he has you pinned to the wall with his body, one hand in your hair and the other to your waist as he flushed his lips to yours in a heated embrace.

Your eyes are wide and hands are flailing pathetically as you were both unsure where to put them or if you could even touch him. A second before you felt yourself melt into the kiss he pulled away, panting a little but there was that infamous smirk.

“Better?” You gasp out, not quite believing what just happened.

“Better.”

The night replayed in your mind like an unyielding record, and the sensation of his lips on yours lingered relentlessly. As you lay in your bunk, consumed by thoughts of his fervent embrace, a gnawing despair settled in the pit of your stomach. It had been nearly a week since that intimate moment, and yet he had not uttered a single word.

Granted, you had not been forthcoming either. You didn’t want to overstep, thinking that you could ruin your friendship with him. But that kiss, it spoke volumes. It was far too potent to be reduced to mere platonic affection.

The taste of his lips was intoxicating, an overwhelming sensation that threatened to topple you. And when you had first pressed your mouth to his helmet, you felt him tense up like a statue, caught off guard by your boldness. You can’t help but wonder if you two kissing was inevitable.

Alas, you can’t help but harbor ardent feelings for the Clone as he was always someone you had a bond with. Perhaps it was this profound connection that had driven you to kiss him in the first place - an accident, and yet, an intentional one at that.

“You getting up?” The sound of Hunter's voice pierces through the haze of your daydreams, jolting you back to reality. You turn to see him leaning against your bunk, his arms folded, and his piercing gaze locking onto yours. You sigh as you sit up, running a hand through your unruly hair.

"I overslept," you mutter, feeling the weight of his suspicious gaze on you. Hunter's heightened senses are always on high alert, and you know that he can sense when something is off.

"Uh-huh," he quips, his voice laced with skepticism. You feel a knot forming in your stomach as he turns his attention to the snoring Wrecker in the opposite bunk.

As you begin to prepare for the day ahead, you're filled with a sense of unease. You have no idea what the day may hold, but you know that it won't be easy. The constant threat of danger looms over your head, and you feel the weight of responsibility bearing down on you.

Lost in your thoughts, you're startled by the sound of the refresher door hissing open. Before you can even register what's happening, you freeze at the sight of the man who's been occupying your thoughts for days.

"You got a minute?" His voice is soft, yet commanding, and you can't help but feel a shiver run down your spine.

You stand there, toothbrush in your mouth, feeling a sense of vulnerability wash over you. You're still in a state of undress, with only a towel wrapped around your body and another in your hair. You can feel his gaze on you, and it sends a wave of heat through your body.

"Uhhhh, I'm a little busy," you mumbled, trying to avoid his gaze. But it's almost impossible. His piercing trained brown eyes seem to see right through you, and you feel exposed.

Crosshair looks you up and down, his gaze lingering on your body. A smirk plays at the corners of his mouth, and you can feel your heart rate quicken.

"You look cute," he says, his voice low and seductive.

You feel a warm blush creeping up your neck as you try to retort, but your speech is muffled by the toothbrush in your mouth.

Shouldn't you be angry with him for not talking to you until now? You want to be, but Maker, he's so infuriatingly charming and cheeky. You need to snap out of it and stick up for yourself but before you could say anything,

"Meet me outside the ship when you're dressed. We need to talk," he says abruptly, his voice breaking through the haze of your thoughts. You're left shocked and a little curious as he turns and walks away, leaving you to wonder what this sudden meeting could mean.

When you’re dressed and ready, you do a quick check with the others to see if a mission has been patched through but luckily there hasn't been so you take a deep breath and go meet Crosshair outside.

As you step down the ramp and scan your surroundings, you initially fail to spot him. But then, you catch sight of a pair of long, slender legs on the other side of the ship, the owner of which is tapping their foot anxiously.

You walk around to get to Crosshair, your mind racing with different thoughts and words, but when you finally meet his gaze, all words seem to vanish from your mind.

Crosshair shifts his position, his eyes flickering with a hint of conflict as he takes in your appearance. You feel a sudden urge to ask him what he wants, but once again, you find yourself at a loss for words. Fortunately, he is the first to break the silence.

"Why did you kiss me?" He questions simply, arms folding over his chest.

Your face contorts with bewilderment, and you let out a nervous laugh. "You mean why did I kiss you on the helmet?" you ask, trying to play it off as a harmless gesture.

Crosshair furrows his brow and steps closer to you, his body tense with anticipation. "Yes," he says, "why did you kiss me on the helmet?”

You stutter in response, feeling the warmth of a blush creeping up your neck once again. "I-I don't know," you admit. But then, you frown and turn the question back on him. "Why did you kiss me?"

Crosshair chews on his lip nervously, something you've never seen him do before. He runs a hand through his silver hair before he takes a bold gamble, stepping closer to you which causes you to back up against the ship. His arm extends over your head, and he gazes down at you with an intensity that makes your heart skip a beat. "I told you why," he murmurs, his voice husky. "If you were going to kiss me, do it properly."

You can feel his breath on your face, and your mind goes blank once again. "But why did you kiss me like that?" you ask, your tone a mixture of curiosity and apprehension as you hint at the passion of the kiss.

"I'm… I’m not good at expressing my feelings with words," Crosshair admits. "I thought it would be better to show you instead."

Feelings? Wait, did this mean…? He likes you? Your mind goes fuzzy and you're staring at him with parted lips. “You like me? But you’ve ignored me for the last week.”

“And what’s your excuse, huh?” His tone wasn’t harsh, instead rather soft and full of curiosity. “You kissed me because you feel the same. I know you do.”

As Crosshair towers over you, his breath hot on your face, you feel a shiver run down your spine. “Please tell me you do.” He pleads softly, eyelids becoming hooded as he slowly leans into you.

His eyes bore into yours, and you can feel his body trembling with emotion.

“I do like you.” You rasp with a shaken breath and you swore he almost whimpered at your confession. You feel a rush of emotions flood through you - confusion, excitement.

He’s flushed against you now, your hands moving to his chest where you almost melt at the feeling of his muscles through his blacks. "I know this is sudden," he says, his voice barely above a whisper. "But I've been thinking about you for a long time. And I couldn't hold back anymore when you kissed me that night. I had to kiss you like I always wanted to.”

You feel your heart racing in your chest, and you know that this is a pivotal moment. You can either give in to your desire and let the moment take over, or you can hold back and play it safe. It's a decision you know you'll have to make sooner rather than later. But, you’re in the middle of a war, you don’t know how much time either of you have left, so why not take the plunge?

Letting yourself savor the moment, you reach up and place a hand on Crosshair's cheek, and apprehensively, he leans into your touch. You can feel the rough stubble on his jaw, and it sends a tingle down your spine. The touch was clearly foreign to the man, his eyes trained on you as the sensation of being held this way was abnormal for a man like him.

“Well seeing as we don’t have to get ready for a mission,” you say softly, looking up at him through your lashes, “why don’t we-.”

His hand is against your cheek, a jolt of surprise as he plants his lips firmly to yours, silencing your want.

You moan against him already, fingers clutched at his blacks whilst his other hand that was resting above you moves into your hair, bringing your mouth closer.

There’s a fiery intensity within the kiss, both of you getting lost in the moment as a rush of desire rushes through your veins. “Crosshair,” you breathe his name softly, pulling away partly only for him to chase after your lips, wanting and needing more.

His tongue began to beg permission against your lips and you gladly gave him entrance instantly, the kiss intensifying quickly as your hands reached up from his chest to around his neck and pulled him in deeper. He broke away for a second, adoration in his eyes before you felt him begin to lift you by the thighs, an excited squeal escaping your lips as he carried you to one of the crates under the ship.

As soon as you are sat upon it, your legs wrap around him and draw him near, kissing him again with just as much passion as before only for you both to part minutes later, gasping for breaths. “You’re something, you know that?” He mutters, resting his forehead to yours, breathless and dazed.

You smile warmly at him, deep down knowing that this kiss this time round was just the beginning of something sweet. You should’ve kissed him on the helmet sooner if you knew this was going to be the result.

The ship was fairly quiet as Echo finally made his way to his room. It wasn’t unusual for him to stay up later than his brothers, often plagued by insomnia or, if he was lucky enough to go to sleep at a normal time, nightmares. Your whimpers continued, and Echo had half a mind to just barge in and make sure you were okay. However, his manners were too well instilled in him, and he raised his hand to knock.

“Echo!” your whimpers turned into a sharp gasp, and Echo dropped his hand to his side in shock. He felt silly for not realizing what was happening before, and though he tried to just turn around and forget that he’d ever heard you, all the blood in his brain was rapidly rushing south, and he stood rooted to the ground. You let out another breathy cry, and this time, curiosity got the better of him. Peeking through the crack in the door, he was just able to make out the top half of your body, chest heaving with exertion. Your head was lolled back and your eyes were squeezed shut, and Echo could see your arm working at something just out of his sight.

“Shit, mesh’la,” Echo muttered the words quietly under his breath, but it wasn’t quiet enough. Your eyes snapped open and you sat up straight in your bed, trying to shake away the thoughts that had been clouding your mind just moments ago. You locked eyes with Echo, burning with embarrassment but unable to look away.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you were--” you cut yourself off as Echo slid quietly into the room, shutting the door behind him with an audible click.

“No, I shouldn’t have been watching. I just heard you and- and I thought you might be hurt and I just had to make sure you were okay,” Echo rushed out. “And then you said my name-- fuck, you said my name,”

He took another tentative step towards you, and you only looked up at him with your mouth hanging open slightly. When he reached your bunk, the two of you just stared at each other for a minute. Echo noticed that you had tugged your blanket up to cover your chest, but your shoulders were bare.

“I didn’t think you’d hear. Shit, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have--” your spiraling train of thought was cut off by Echo’s lips on yours, and your eyes went wide. He will do jogging laps and strength training with you, exploring and pushing your limits together.

Be balanced, stay focused and keep your heart fit. Echo is a fan of cardio and push-ups as well as pull-ups. He doesn't have much of his body left, so most of his own training is limited to his upper body.

I'm really sorry to read that. It's hard to lose friends, especially when you don't really know why or what's going on. The only way to find out would be asking them about it. But you mentioned you don't feel up to ask them yourself. Maybe you have someone, a friend, who'd be willing to do that for you? Sometimes you can't change peoples minds, and you don't have to. Real friends don't just leave you behind without telling you what bothered them. Real friends communicate and try to fix things and don't just leave or ignore. Hold on to the real ones and let the ones who want to go just go. I know it feels devastating, but you don't need people like this in your life. If they just show you the cold shoulder without voicing what's the deal, they are not willing to really make an effort for this friendship, so why should you run after them? Invest your energy in your real friends.

And friends who need some time to themselves for personal reasons usually at least tell you that they need to retreat for a while, at least in my experience (I do that sometimes when I need to charge up my mental batteries). Cutting someone off without at least addressing them once about the reason is Kindergarten or headless teenager behavior at best. People who really care/cared, don't just vanish out of your life quietly.

That's probably not making you feel much better, but what I'm trying to say is, that you should focus on yourself a bit more and those who deserve your friendship. Don't cry over undeserving idiots. Easier said than done, I know. It'll take time, like everything emotionally heavy does, but you'll feel better at some point when you manage to sort out your priorities. And Drama queens who cut you off on purpose, to make you run after them, are even worse. Those are energy vampires, don't play that game with them, you will always be at the exhausted, losing end.

But, I'm still here, not exactly a close friend, but a mutual I guess. I hear you and even though I can't do much for you right now, I can send you a hug and write something for you 🤗

He is organizing and sorting a few things for the next mission when he talks to you and asks what is bothering you. Your revelation makes him wonder.

"And they didn't say anything? Didn't say why?

You shake your head sadly.

Hunter puts down the datapad on which he's just checked an inventory list and turns to face you fully.

"Then they're not friends either"

You frown and look at him questioningly.

Gently but firmly, he says, "Friends don't just turn their backs on you without comment. Someone who doesn't even expend enough energy to tell you what might be bothering them didn't really care much about this friendship or you in the first place."

You wrap your arms around your body, really not feeling much better now.

Hunter comes closer and takes off a glove and gently strokes your cheek.

He says thoughtfully, "Real friends talk to each other, they say what's going on and don't just take off. Maybe they weren't as good friends as you thought."

Echo puts an arm around you, and you automatically lean against him, seeking warmth and comfort from his body.

He blinks, then says, "You know me, I wouldn't dwell on it for long. Even if I had negative feelings about it, I would go on my way and do what needs to be done."

"But what if it was Hunter and Wrecker?"

Tech sighs, "Well, we had something similar with Crosshair, however he gave us some sort of explanation. I don't know, honestly, I don't think there could be a fault line between us that isn't addressed. Especially Hunter would be looking for a dialogue to clear things up, and Wrecker probably would too."

He looks at you, trying to read your face.

After a pause, he says, "Well, in my estimation, these friends aren't worth your concern or friendship. If they don't feel the need to communicate with you about any problems that may exist, then they are obviously not willing to put any particular effort into this relationship. So my conclusion would be, if you are not worth their effort, then you should do the same the other way around and save your energy for more important things and people that are worth yours. Crosshair

He frowns.

"Well, I guess they're idiots," he says dryly, "You know I don't like most of your friends anyway."

Crosshair doesn't like to share your attention, that's the main reason. He tolerates your friends for your sake, but he'd much rather have you to himself. However, he would never go so far as to try to separate you from your friends.

When he sees the sad look on your face, he says, "If they just cut all the lines without telling you why, then they weren't friends either. You don't turn your back on a friend for no reason, and even if there is a reason, at least you talk about it, and then you decide whether to go your separate ways."

"Is that so?" asks Echo dryly from the background.

"Quiet back there," Crosshair grumbles, "You knew why we parted ways, I never made a secret of why I left."

"True."

Crosshair looks at you again and says, "People who really care about you don't turn their backs on you without comment, no matter how much your opinions may differ. What happens after a clarifying conversation is another story"

"Sometimes an ugly one," Echo mutters.

Crosshair snorts, "Would you please stay out of this".

You look from one to the other, finally looking up at Crosshair and asking, "What do you think I should do?"

"Keep going. Don't run after them, focus on yourself and the people who are really there for you," he lifts your chin slightly with his long fingers, "Like me for example."

Wolffe

He puts down the box he just took off his speeder, takes off his helmet and tucks it under his arm. He looks at you with a furrowed brow.

"Well, I guess they're not really friends, then."

"What do you mean?"

Wolffe looks at you urgently, "Someone who really cares doesn't turn their back on you without comment. Simple as that."

You wrap your arms around your body.

"I guess they don't care about me then."

Wolffe sighs, lifting your chin with his fingers and seeking eye contact.

"I care about you, a lot. I'm certainly not the only one"

You look up at him, swallowing and blinking back tears.

"It's just so scary. It feels like at some point everyone could suddenly be gone and then I'm alone"

Wolffe puts his helmet on the speeder, then puts both hands on your shoulder left and right.

"Cyare, you're not alone, you won't be alone. It may feel scary and defeating now, but you'll get over it. You will see and learn in time who your real friends are, what really matters and what your priorities should be"

"You won't abandon me, right?"

Wolffe gently kisses your forehead and says, "Never."

Rex

Rex looks at you in surprise. He expected everything possible, but not really.

"Do I know these friends?"

"No not really"

He shrugs and says, "Well, I don't really know what to tell you. In my experience, friendships are never one sided, at least they shouldn't be. You invest quite a lot of energy in these contacts and suddenly nothing comes back? Mesh'la, it sounds like you were used and… well, don't need you anymore. That doesn't have much to do with friendship, though."

Startled, you sit down on a bench nearby. Rex follows you. He looks at you meekly and says, "Sorry, you probably didn't want to hear that."

You sigh softly and say, "Maybe. But maybe I needed to hear it."

Rex shrugs and says quietly, "Maybe I'm wrong too, Mesh'la, but you should focus on yourself for now and be careful in case they contact you again. You can't let them hurt you."

He sits down next to you and says with a gentle smile, "In any case, you have me, I won't let you down."

His hand clasps yours with gentle pressure.

When you look up at his face, he gives you an encouraging look with that mischievous, yet soft and warm smile of his.

"I got you, Mesh'la, always"

The Bad Batch guys taking care of a sick or wounded reader.

Echo:

It doesn't matter how you got sick, while he lovingly takes care of you, makes sure your limbs don't get cold by tucking you in, providing you with tea and vitamins, he keeps telling you what you should have done differently to avoid getting sick.

"I always tell you not to go outside with wet hair".

"You don't drink enough"

"Eat more fruit"

"I told you that food you and Wrecker get on the road is bad".

His tone is gentle as he scolds you while replacing the hot water bottle and dabbing the sweat from your forehead. He takes your temperature every few minutes and shakes his head worriedly each time, whether you really have a fever or just a slightly elevated temperature.

Don't you dare get hurt, the principle is about the same. Depending on the severity of your injuries, he'll tend to you himself or with Tech's help. You see the steep, worried crease between his eyebrows as he bandages you up and tells you once again that you need to pay more attention.

"What were you planning to do, anyway?"

"You should never do this without help."

"You need to be more careful."

"Please don't put yourself in danger like that, I can't stand the thought of losing you."

Echo calms down eventually, but not until you are truly healed.

Hunter:

He will speak soothingly to you while staying by your side and you can feel that the soothing words are not just for you, but for him as well. Disease is something he can't fight directly, it's largely out of his control and that worries him. He feels a bit helpless in this situation, but does his best to care for you while not imposing himself.

Hunter keeps you company when you are bedridden and feeling lonely. He gets you a holo-projector, watches movies with you if you want him to. He'll even read to you if you ask him to.

"You sure? I don't know if I'm a good reader"

"I love hearing your voice."

Hunter smirks, flattered. Of course he'll read you anything you want.

If it's about wounds you got in battle or on a mission, he'll reproach himself.

"I should have been more careful"

"I should have been there"

"I shouldn't have let you take part in that mission".

Until you are fully healed, he will keep an eagle eye on you to make sure you rest and don't do anything even remotely dangerous. He always tries to be there when Tech changes your bandages. He'd like to do it himself, but he's too insecure. He has rough field medic skills, like most clones, but he has a hard time with you, he's afraid of hurting you or doing something else wrong, so he'd rather let Tech do it.

Wrecker:

You're lying in bed with a high temperature? Wrecker disappears for a few hours and while you lie there and pout, he comes back. He brings with him a thermos of the best soup you can get for credits on the planet you're on, under his other arm he has a box with a holoprojector and tons of movies. And in his mouth is a single flower he found on the way. He puts the flower in your hair and grins at you. Sets up the projector and pours some of the soup into a bowl for you, it's hot and smells wonderful.

"Don't worry, you'll be back on your feet in no time, you'll see".

Wounds to the body, from accidents or fights he can't take so well. He is close to a nervous breakdown every time he sees injuries on your body. You are the most precious, fragile thing he has in his life, the thought of you being in pain, being hurt, completely devastates him.

He nervously kisses the skin close to the wound, very gently, and says hoarsely, "Oh Mesh'la, little Cyare," close to tears.

When it comes to your well-being, the warm-hearted giant can get very emotional.

He will not leave your side until he is sure that you will get back on your feet. Moreover, he will ask Tech, who is taking care of your wounds, so many questions that even Tech, for the first time, will no longer feel like explaining everything.

Tech:

He knows dozens of home medications and he knows the statistical effectiveness of each one. He will tell you what obscure home remedies and cures he has found in the Holonet while keeping you hydrated and providing vitamins.

" Phlebotomy. Such a nonsensical thing, can you imagine? Delinquent!"

He also insists on washing you, changing your bedding regularly, and that you lie in a well-ventilated but warm environment. He will be very meticulous about this and will probably get on your nerves a bit at some point. But remember, he is doing this out of love, he wants you to get well, to be well taken care of and he is devoted to you, day and night when you need him.

Tech treats wounds very conscientiously. He is unusually quiet while caring for you, highly focused. Tech is very careful to make sure everything is clean and sterile, more so than he usually is, and he quickly loses his patience with any assistant who might be present and not do something as accurately as he would like.

"Not like that! Don't do that, I'll do it myself!" he sharply orders Echo who looks at him startled because he's sure he didn't do anything wrong. And he didn't, Tech is just super tense, after all it's you he's taking care of, the most important person in his life, perfection is not enough.

Crosshair:

The first time you're sick he's a little overwhelmed, actually he likes to tease you and you go along with it in a flirty way, but now he feels guilty if he even thinks about making a mocking remark. You're lying there, looking so pale and helpless, your eyes only half open and you can barely move.

Crosshair flees into the cockpit.

"Tech!"

The person being addressed startles at the unexpected and urgent sound, bumps his head on the console he's working under, and groans.

" Uuch... what's wrong?"

"They are sick! Sick! What the hell am I supposed to do?!"

Tech pauses for a moment, finally rolls his eyes, and puts together a list of things Crosshair could do to ease your situation.

He'll make you tea and keep you company, but he'll hardly talk, because he usually doesn't. Your eyes will meet again and again, silently.

"Can we watch a movie?"

"Yes. Please."

When you are injured in action, he teases you about it, partly to lighten the mood and partly because the whole thing doesn't seem so serious and dangerous to him if he does. He doesn't like to see you hurt at all and that's the only way he can deal with it.

"How can one person be so clumsy?"
