Techno cosplay process, pt. 2!

Here we go again! It's been a while since I made that first post and admittedly I haven't made a lot of progress since then but I did a few first steps.

Over the last two days I've transferred the pattern of a cloak I got given to sturdier paper so I can use them more easily later. This is what that looked like.

I have also bought fabric for this cloak recently and I started making a checklist on cosplanner to keep track of the money and the time I'm spending on this project. I will buy more fabric as well as dye soon. Once those arrive I'll make an update again and show off the fabrics I'll be using for the base cloak.

THE PLAN-DRAFT 1

Back in October of last year, I decided I really wanted to build a fursuit version of my Technoblade cosplay, and I spent some time sketching out how exactly I wanted it to look. It was ambitious, to be sure, but it was exciting.

After spending the spring semester of last school year making my personal fursuit for my BFA work, and some really important conversations with one of my coworkers over the summer, I realized that the only thing holding me back from making this for my BFA work was my own insecurities. I quickly got over myself, and then and there decided this was happening for real.

Here’s those drafts I sketched up in October, the main starting place for this project!

I was in a weaving class at the time, and decided I wanted to make the AE banner for the cloak for my final project. That was the first piece I made for this massive puzzle. I’ll post the process for that soon.

Crafting a Crafting Table

I made my own crafting table! Also had fun putting some special touches on it. I'll ramble about the details under the cut + show some sketches I had.

Shoutout to @fawnpawn because their crafting table post got me inspired.

So initially, I wanted to make a Minecraft cosplay of some sort. I love the game and the community, but I didn't know if I wanted to be a specific content creator or other. I settled on making Alex/Steve designs as a starting point.

Originally, I wanted to make the crafting table a bag, similar to what @/fawnpawn had. Ultimately, I decided it was something I could add later if I wanted. The first two images below were the first sketches I made in 2022. The crafting table would be an actual functional bag, where the top could slide off.

I had a mini cardboard prototype which I lost the sliding component to...it was fun to play around with it while it lasted.

So! The materials I used were as follows:

Cardboard

Hot Glue

Acrylic Paint

Chipboard (1/8" thick) (these were the vertical strips of wood on the sides)

Corkboard

Stick

The other details (like the seed packet and rope) were coin envelopes and scrap fabric. These were also free materials I snagged from a community material bin since I don't have the means to buy foam or actual wood.

The entire process was very scuffed.

I made the base of the box with cardboard. It isn't an exact square because I was too tired to measure properly (it's like 60 cm x 63 cm). I added more standing cardboard inside so it can hold weight at top

I then painted some parts on the outside with maroon/dark purple paint. This was for the parts showing between the "wooden planks" on the outside. All that was left to paint was the top grid which is admittedly off-center. shhhhhhhhh

et voila, box head

The tools were painted with kind of a Borderlands style. I thought it'd look cool and make it look more interesting than keeping it minecraft-accurate. I also used silver metallic paint so they're shiny :D

The sides of the crafting table still felt empty, even with the tools, so I added some in-game items for fun. I also wanted to add some mention of some content creators I enjoy, hence the Philza and Technoblade pins (and the checkered pattern for BajanCanadian lol).

Overall, I had a lot of fun with this. I don't know if I'll ever finish the full cosplay, but thanks for reading the ramble ;>

@butchpuffy came up w/ this concept and we all ran with it because canon is miserable and this is funny and. Okay so this is an AU based off the movie Enchanted which I have never seen. But

Miss Trixtin End Politics Chooser has coronated a recent new Beloved in the Disney End. Everything operates on like Disney movie logic and Minecraft logic both in the End. Musical numbers. Campy sorcerer Bad and the fucked up canine-rodent hellhound Rat and his small clutch of cartoon goons. And of course aforementioned new Beloved, Ranboo, who is very very opinionated about End politics

Aforesaid campy sorcerer Bad is very displeased with this assignment bc something something End politics he and his goons want the Enderdragon egg or something idk but one way or another Ranboo ends up getting slam dunked through the End portal and directly into the real world

You may remember that the man is very opinionated on End politics. The phrase "magical enderman prince from Minecraft" has been ricocheting around in my brain since this was posited last night. Utterly beloved

Anyway what this means is that this guy is, with all the selective hearing+memory+attention span, judgement, deep emotional sentiment, I Want To See The Good In Everyone c:, and I Am The Only Morally Correct One In Thsi Situation of DSMP Ranboo and all the sickening optimism and propensity for musical numbers of a standard Disney princess, literally the most aggravating cinnamon roll too good for this world too pure

Now. For context

In the real world several people who got financially fucked over by Wilbur Soot's shitty startup as well as an assorted menagerie of others are currently hanging out as neighbors in an apartment complex owned by Dream WasTaken who lives with his mom and brother despite being a landlord (irredeemable)

- Niki has not yet had the opportunity to open a co-op but would like to do this generally with the support of her three roommates Eret Fundy and Jack Manifold as well

- as her friends Technoblade and Philza two doors down who she hasn't visited as often lately since Wilbur came back from his Journey To Find Himself after the startup went to shit and started crashing on the couch

- He pays less rent than Skeppy, who also lives there, does

- Technoblade btw came back from college early with pink hair, processed radicalization and a decision to say fuck the blood money scholarship he got from being in the army, and also Skeppy, and got a huge fuckin service dog whose name is now Steve

- Philza is a cosplayer

- Between the Niki+Eret+Fundy+Jack household and the Techno+Skeppy+Phil+Wil household is the Tommy+Tubbo household. Tommy is in a socially funded therapy program and keeps leaving signup paperwork for Tubbo around the house

- Tubbo, who pays 90% of the rent with intern salary for what is functionally a managerial position and alternately plays Bee Tycoon at work and makes pipe bombs at the kitchen counter between the hours of 11PM-3AM to feel alive, complains about the recycling bills

- Technoblade with the anarchist theory is the most idealistic person Tubbo knows

- Techno Phil and Niki are a band :] Skeppy is not in the band but he gets gigs and stuff and shows up to the post-gig pizza parties. He may not be around much but he is a valued member to the point of having a stage name (yes this is Skeppy Is Harpocrates)

- One night driving home they see some guy who Tubbo takes one look at and dismisses as a very lost cosplayer. Tommy however insists no cosplay is this good and that that is a Real Minecraft Enderman. Tubbo says they have cosplayers at hoooooommeeeeee which is where he wants to gooooo but Tommy stops the car (Tommy is the one with the driver's license. Tubbo is not allowed to drive anymore after The Incident) and runs out because he has never had a thought in his head in his life and Tubbo has to follow him and Oh Okay Maybe That Is Not A Cosplayer

- Cue everyone's dreary lives being subject to the violent status quo shakeup of magical enderman prince from Minecraft Ranboo Live, the Beloved, waltzing into their lives singing showtunes

- With several cartoon villain assassins in tow

- Chaos ensues.

I just saw a tiktok of a wonderful Techno cosplay that, unfortunately, blasphemously butcher not only his character, but his relationships with both c!tommy and c!dream (and misinterpreted c!dream in the process). Dream straight up called him a pig, and acted super aggressive towards Techno while Techno was??? Being super sweet to Tommy??? It was like the “this guy’s with me” scene of SBI was canon and dream was an idiot.

WHAAAAT WHAT IS THIS SLANDER. HOW COULD THIS COSPLAYER MANAGE TO SLANDER BOTH OF MY FAVES AT THE SAME TIME /lh

Dream WOULD NOT call Technoblade that. In any interpretation. Even if you see him as this super evil heartless dude he wouldn't insult Technoblade simply because he wouldn't want to lose a potential ally. And he'd know Techno has issues with personhood, he wouldn't compare him to an animal wtf 😭

Even if the sbi was canon, do these people knows how little brother & big brother dynamics usually are? Like even without the fd the dynamic is still THERE in canon and Techno IS NOT sweet to Tommy, or at least he doesn't show it in obvious ways

There was a kid at my school who wore a technoblade cosplay at least once every other week. Did I judge them… yes. But did I ever bully them? Fuck no.

Like clearly this is a costume they put a lot of time into and even if school is maybe not the best setting to show it off they still don’t deserve unkindness. It takes very little effort to simply say nothing. And in my personal experience there is ALWAYS something you can say to genuinely compliment “the weird kid” and you might make a new friend in the process!

Like “oh wow! did you make that yourself? That’s really neat!”

Or “I think it’s really cool that you’re so passionate about (thing)”

It takes so much more effort and energy to go out of your way to be mean. Be nice or say NOTHING.

Hi and welcome to my wall! I haven't been on tumblr in years--at least since 2014--so forgive me if i am a bit rusty :0 If you haven't seen me before, hi! My name is Ray, I currently go by he/xe, and I am a multi-media content creator. I dabble in a bit of everything, but I am going strong in cosplay, writing, and streaming! I will mainly be using tumblr as a place to braindump about fics or post about my cosplay! I promise I am really interesting!!!

As for streaming, I stream on Twitch! Mainly, I do minecraft content, as I am in two active SMPs, but occasionally I branch out to other content, such as Fallout or Sims 4!

Techno cosplay process, part 1!

Right so basically I'm planning a technoblade cosplay to pay tribute to him. There'll definitely be a few parts, this one is the first one and I'll show what I've done so far (it's not much lol, so far it's all theoretical).

Right, going back to the 14th of October last year we have my first concept sketch for the cosplay. This is what it looks like:

I will admit, it isn't very detailed and I'm not too happy with it... Which is why I made a second one. That one was started on the 11th of December last year and I've been adding to it ever since. Here it is:

The picture of it here is outdated now, there's a bunch of other related stuff on that page since I've been adding to it. As of today, the notes for this cosplay take up three pages in my sketchbook and I have reserved a fourth to have more space if need be.

There's a bunch of details I have planned, but I'll talk more about those in the future! That is all for now, but now that the first part has been written I'm somewhat sure that there'll be more. They probably won't be as long as this one, but I won't promise anything as I like writing long posts.

(side note, I'm not sure if it's a good idea for me to post every single one of these posts in the technoblade cosplay hashtag? I don't wanna end up basically clogging that hashtag with my silly little process posts.)
