Josh chewed on the inside of his cheek as he got the notification that the roses had been delivered to Kiyana’s  job. He kept checking his phone to see if she had texted him and frowned every time his notification center was empty. 

He sighed and stood up from the folding chair in the locker room and decided to start getting ready. He was starting the show tonight and no matter how often he did it he still got nervous. After drenching his hair in water, he checked his phone again and frowned when he still had no message from Kiyana. It was 7:50 pm in the UK so it was at least 1:50 in Pensacola, and the flowers were delivered. What the hell was the hold-up?

“Aye Uce! Showtime.” Someone banged on the locker room door. Josh was almost out of the door when his phone dinged with a notification. Josh felt his heart rate spike up once he looked and saw it was Kiyana. She thanked him for the flowers and said that she would see him on Friday and they could talk then. Josh had a smile on his face as he sent her a thumbs up and a heart emoji before rushing towards The Gorilla just in time for his theme to start playing. 

Josh had just finished his match and got the W against Drew McIntyre when he walked back into Gorilla and froze at the sight before him. 

“Hey, baby.” Shanté giggled and rushed towards Josh, jumping on him and wrapping her legs around his waist while her arms went around his neck. 

“Shanté, what the fuck!” He growled, trying to push her off of him, but her crazy ass was strong. “Get the hell offa me!”  Shante frowned her face up at him. 

“I’m not liking your attitude. I gave you a couple of weeks to cool down, and this is how you treat me after not seeing me.” Shanté scoffed and unwrapped her legs from his waist. “You didn’t miss me?” Josh sucked his teeth and tried to move past her, but she latched onto his arm and started walking with him. 

“Ayo, for real?” Josh scoffed and pulled his arm out of her grasp. He stopped walking and turned to face her. “I told you the last time I seen yo’ crazy ass that we were over!” 

“But you didn’t mean it, right?” She asked softly, cupping his jaw with her hand. She narrowed her eyes as she saw the hickey on his neck. “What the hell is that?” She exclaimed, moving his head to the side so she could get a better look.

“Stop touching me.” He seethed, grabbing her hand and slinging it away from his face. He then backed up to put more distance between them. 

“You've been with someone else," she accused, Josh frowned and looked around, he had to be getting Punk’d right now. There was no way this chick was this deranged! 

“Yeah I've been with someone else, my wife. The fuck is you on?” Shanté's eyes widened in disbelief. 

“She actually took you back.” She didn’t but Shanté didn’t need to know that. Josh just shrugged. She opened her mouth to retort but was cut off by Josh's saving grace. 

“Hey bro, is everything okay?” Trinity asked, walking over in her ring gear, looking Shanté's up and down with disdain. “You got a problem?” Trin asked, stepping closer to Shanté whose eyes widened before she quickly shook her head scurried off down the hall. 

“Goddamn” Josh huffed out, running a hand through his damn curls. 

“What's up with that?” Trinity asked him, folding her arms over her chest. “I thought you and Key were trying to mend things.”  

“I am, we are. . She just came out of nowhere, Trin. I ain't even know she was back on the main roster.” 

“Yeah, well, she sure didn’t waste time finding you,”  Trinity’s voice dripped with sarcasm. “If you tryna get your family back, you can't go back to your old ways, Joshua. I mean it. I already talked to Key and she already voiced her concerns to me.” 

Josh looked taken aback. “She did?” 

Trinity sighed. “Look, I'm about to break girl code here but, Key doesn’t want to let you back in just for you to break her heart again. You gotta nip this Shanté shit in the bud ASAP. You gotta show Key that you are serious about this and not just wanting to get back together because you’re lonely and not used to living alone.” 

“I hear you, Trin. I don’t want to hurt her again. I need to prove myself.”

“Exactly,” Trin stated, nodding her head. “You need to prove to her that you deserve this second chance. Cause lord knows, if I was in her shoes, Jon wouldn’t even be able to contact me.” Trin sighed and pulled Josh into a hug. “Just don’t hurt her again Josh. She doesn’t deserve that.” 

Kiyana rolled her eyes with a small smile, as Kamari and Kaiden were buzzing with excitement as they waited outside the airport for Josh. He was able to catch an earlier flight and instead of coming close to midnight, he was now about to land in Pensacola at noon. 

“Guys, relax.” Kiyana laughed, unstrapping Kairo and Kaiden out of their car and booster seats. “You're gonna combust.” 

“Where’s daddy?” Kaiden whined, stomping his little foot. “I want my daddy!” 

“He’s coming, Bear. You gotta relax okay.” Just as she said that, Kamari dropped her hand and started running towards Josh, who had a big smile on his face as he dropped his suitcase and carry-on so he could catch Kamari. 

“Hey Bean.” Josh said. Opening his arms as Kaiden ran over to him too. “I miss you guys.” Kaiden practically launched himself into Josh’s arms, giggling with excitement. 

“Daddy! I missed you so much” Josh stood up with Kaiden and Kamari still in his arms and walked over to Kiyana who arched an eyebrow and looked at his bags he left behind. 

“Ain’t nobody gon take ‘em.” He said, chuckling when she rolled her eyes playfully.  He set the boys down and took Kairo out of her arms. “Little Bug!” Kairo let out a screech  as Josh started tickling his belly. Kiyana felt her heart flutter as Josh turned his attention back to her. “I missed you.” He muttered, gently pulling her into a side hug because he was still holding Kairo. 

“I miss you too.” Kiyana whispered back, leaning into his embrace. “Thank you for the flowers too,” she added softly as she stepped back slightly, her eyes meeting his. They stood there, getting lost in each other's eyes.

Kiyana stood before Josh, her heart and her brain were telling her to do two different things. Her heart was telling her to forgive him and give him a second chance, but her brain was singing a mantra that her own mother had said right before her and her boys left to pick up Josh from the airport. ‘Once a cheater, always a cheater.’ Josh watched her closely, sensing the internal struggle within her. He wanted to reach out, to hold her and plead his case once more, but he knew words alone couldn’t erase the pain he had caused.

Kiyana cleared her throat and took a step back from Josh, she took Kairo out of his hands and put him back in his carseat. Josh sighed and jogged over to grab his discarded luggage. Josh had put his stuff in the trunk and walked over to the driver's side, grabbing her hand, stopping Kiyana from getting in.

“I’m sorry,” he murmured softly. This thumb rubbing soft circles on the top of her hand. “I fucked up, badly and It’s not fair of me to expect you to forgive me overnight.” 

“No, you can’t,”  she cut him off. “ I need time, Josh. Time to figure out if I can trust you again.”

“I understand Key,  I know I have a lot to prove to you. And I understand if you need time to trust me again. But I want to try, I want to make things right between us. Lemme take you out on a date. Just like old times. Let me prove to you that I'm serious about us.”  Kiyana’s immediate response was to tell him no. The last time they went on a date he had told her about his affair.  She had opened her mouth to decline his invitation but it was something in his eyes that stopped her. 

“I- okay.” She nodded and Josh smiled. 

“Okay, tomorrow night.” When she nodded, he let go of hand so she could get into the car. Once she was in the car, he did a little fist pump, before hurrying over to the passenger side and getting in before she could pull off.

he will stop by thrift stores, antique stores, yard sales, etc, whenever he sees them to browse and see if he finds anything you might like. he loves surprising you with little gifts

he'd definitely be at a yard sale, blushing while paying for something he found that he knew you'd love. he'd feel a little silly and feel the need to mention that it's for his girlfriend, not himself.

your office and desk are littered with little trinkets and things that you've collected, and sometimes, you'll find that he's wordlessly left something else to add to your collection.

when you ask him about it, he'll just shrug and say it made him think of you, as if it was no big deal that he constantly went out of his way to buy things that reminded him of you. but, to you, it was everything.

you guys would both be very, very busy, both being lawyers and working long, odd hours for cases which would hinder you from spending time together, but he'd make up for it whenever he can.

he would leave little notes around the apartment, your office, your books, etc. it's sort of like a game for you to find these little love notes that he's hidden.

he also loves to call and check in on you, see how you're doing, make sure you're eating, drinking water, not letting your case completely consume you. you insist that he can text you, but he's old, so he likes to call.

lunch break makeout sessions are frequent occurrences. it's sort of exciting for him. he thought the days of him sneaking around and making out like a lovesick teenager were far behind him, but with you, he can't seem to control himself. you're so beautiful and smart and incredible. he can't help but want to kiss you and touch you all the time.

also, if you two haven't had a date in awhile, he would buy a bunch of shit from the vending machine and swing by your office, so you two could have a mini date and spend some time together. if you were really deep into a case, he'd insist on helping. he'd want you to tell him all about it while you two ate the crappy junk food he brought.

he's very serious about work. work time is work time, and you respect that. but, he definitely can't help when his mind wanders to you every so often. he's a bit of a daydreamer when it comes to you. plus, he wouldn't be able to help staring like a fool whenever he saw you, even if he was supposed to be in serious work mode.

he would love to mentor you and teach you everything he knows about law. he wants to see you succeed and knowing that he can help you do that makes his heart swell.

loves to see you kick ass in court. he feels so proud watching you win a case and just overall dominate in the courtroom. plus he'd be lying if he said it didn't turn him on a little bit

when you two finally get some time together, he would go all out. he'd buy you flowers, cook you a nice dinner, light candles, litter the bed in rose petals— the whole nine yards

and when you two are done eating, he would take you to the bedroom and take his time with you. he'd want to worship your body, show you just how much he loves you, and has missed you. it would be romantic, slow, intimate, and just overall absolutely perfect

Stuff About Me

Disclaimer: This is getting to be an old blog and during that time my spiritual path has taken many turns from Gnostic Christian to Filianist to Eclectic Pagan. Posts from the past might be very different from what my beliefs are today, including both religious and political.

What Am I (Currently)?

My name is Rose. For simplicity, I refer to myself as either a Sophian Witch or Déanic Pagan. My path is a bit of an eclectic mix of my religious journey so far, I synchronise what I've learned as a Gnostic, a Wiccan, a Filianist and so on but would not label myself as either of those anymore as I don't feel fully aligned with any of them.

What's a Sophian?

A Sophian is a devotee of the Divine Sophia, aka Holy Wisdom. A Sophian views Wisdom as the Ultimate face of God. There are many different versions of Sophia, from Platoism to Gnosticism to certain branches of Christianity and so on. I personally worship the TrinoSophia, or Sophian Trinity, as I believe was revealed in the Nag Hammadi texts. This being Barbelo, Sophia and Zoe.

What does Déanic mean?

While I'm not longer a Filianist, I do still consider myself Déanic. A Déanist is someone who worships the Ultimate God as the Divine Feminine. The Supreme Goddess who created all without the need for a male counterpart or Father God - Déa being the feminine Latin word for God. However, while some Déanists and most Filianists worship an exclusively feminine deity(ies), a few like myself believe there are 'lesser' gods and other entities who are children of Déa but higher than humans and some of those can be masculine or non-binary. I worship the Goddess as the alpha but also have a place for the divine masculine, not as Her equal but still worthy of respect and devotion.

Where does the Pagan come in?

It feels like the most simple and therefore truest label for me to identify with. Not all Déanists are Pagan as many prefer to mainly see Déa as the Creator but above rather than within Her creation. Personally I see Her as both within and beyond (panentheism). The Mother created and watches over us but the Daughter walks with all creation as both Princess of the World and Queen of Heaven. The other gods I worship too feel very much a part of creation. I love nature, I love animals and for me no church or temple can compare to the sense of divinity I find when just walking through the forests or gazing at the moon. And connecting my spirit to all that's around me makes me feel complete in a way Abrahamic-like theism cannot compare.

What is your pantheon?

First and foremost, I am a devotee of the Lady Sophia; divine wisdom. I worship Her in Her threefold form as I believe was revealed in the Gnostic scriptures and what I made sense of through the lense of the Filianic trinity. That being She is, in Three modes:

The Mother (Sophia, The Creatrix)

The Daughter (Zoe, whose name means Life)

The Absolute Deity / "Dark Mother" (Barbelo)

I also invoke the Seven Great Ladies, who in Filianism are known as the Seven Janyati. These are the Seven Powers that reflect the highest aspects of Déa. I use their Greek names; Theia, Phoebe, Nike, Metis, Themis, Tethys and Rhea.

For the divine masculine, I worship the Horned God. Not as Sophia's consort or equal, but one of Her most honoured children or "emanations" as both male and female and other entities all came from Her. My preferred name and form for him tends to be Cernonnus, Celtic being my most direct ancestry. But He also comes to me as Pan and Lucifer. If Sophia were to be seen as a Queen, then my Lord wouldn't be Her king consort but more a loyal Knight in Her service or governing Prince.

Sophia is much more the Déanic part of my identity, and while I do connect with Her and other goddesses via nature, Cernunnos is much more the 'Pagan' side of me, being Lord of the forests and the glen.

I also invoke and honour Mary Magdalene as my Hera (a Filianic term for an ascended human soul). I believe She was Jesus' most enlightened disciple and an avatar of Zoe Sophia, the divine spark, fully realised in woman form.

What is your scripture?

I don't see any religious text as the definitive Word of God. I believe they all have been written by people who felt God in their hearts through their own interpretations and some I connect and find wisdom with, others I don't. I try to read all with an open mind.

Both the Gnostic texts and the Clear Recital (the Filianic Scriptures) are probably the closest to my heart and influence my path but I don't hold either to be without error.

What are your current political beliefs?

I'm very much a proud "wokey leftist", support complete separation of Church and State, am pro LGBTQ (as well as being a lesbian myself), fully support every person's right to bodily autonomy. Not to say I won't call out BS on the left by certain individuals where I see it.

Hi! I saw a post where you mentioned intersex Jesus being a part of medieval European alchemy and I'd love to learn more about that. Could you elaborate or maybe provide links to some articles? I know some saint mystics talked about Jesus being our Mother, and the holy wound in His side was often likened to a birth canal, especially in medieval times. Is it connected to that in any way?

I'd love to elaborate! (This is going to be a long post so buckle up lol)

I will be using the word "hermaphrodite" instead of "intersex" because that is the word that primary sources from medieval Europe and contemporary medieval scholars use when talking about this subject

The best scholarly article I've found is "The Jesus Hermaphrodite: Science and Sex Difference in Premodern Europe" by Leah DeVun. It talks about how the image of the hermaphrodite was used in a metaphorical way by alchemists to show the combining/transforming of two different metals. They believed that certain metals/elements were gendered, so combining male and female "traits" would make something of a completely new sex; similar to the way they perceived hermaphrodites as both but also neither sex.

The article then goes on to talk about two medieval texts: Aurora consurgens and the Book of the Holy Trinity. Aurora consurgens is an alchemic text and has the image below in it. The hermaphrodite is holding a rabbit and bat, both of which were thought to be hermaphroditic species where both males and females gave birth, to emphasize their dual sexuality as well as the conflicting male and female attributes of alchemy.

The Book of the Holy Trinity transitioned from the traditional alchemic hermaphrodite, like seen above, into the religious sphere by arguing that Jesus and Mary were two sides of the same coin. The author of the text says, "one can never see the mother of God without also seeing that God eternally hides and intermingles [his mother] within him. God was and is eternally his own mother and his own father, human and divine, his divinity and his humanity intermingled within. And he depends on that which he wishes to be hidden most of all within himself, the divine and the human, the feminine and the masculine." This makes Jesus/Mary a hermaphrodite.

As a bit of a fun side note to your ask, the author of the Book of the Holy Trinity gives a few more supporting points to his argument and then turns to say that as Christ contains Mary, He also contains the Antichrist which the Book illustrates like this:

The idea of the hermaphrodite Christ really took off after that and boosted the cult of Saint Wilgefortis, saint of monsters. Images of the hermaphrodite Wilgefortis were often indistinguishable from images of Christ because they were both depicted on a cross but where they both have beards, Wilgefortis only has one shoe on: a playful medieval illusion to female sex organs. Images of Saint Wilgefortis below (some images from the 1800s, some from the 1400s). About a hundred years later, “The Lamentation around the remains of Christ,” below, was made depicting Jesus with breasts and feminine curves. Not much is known about it and Christ's hermaphroditic traits weren't even discovered until it was restored in the 21st century. Because of how recent this discovery is, not much scholarly work has been published on it, but I did find this: "The androgyny of Christ" by H. Valdes‑Socin. It is now at the Museum of Notre-Dame à la Rose Hospital in Lessines, Belgium.

And you're absolutely right about Christ's stab wound being like a birth canal! I think the article Mysticism and queer readings of Christ’s Side Wound in the Prayer Book of Bonne of Luxembourg by  Dr. Maeve K. Doyle does a good job of explaining it. Dr. Doyle says, "The image of the side wound, ... grants feminine bodily attributes to Christ, destabilizing assumptions about his gender. In mystical images and texts, Christ’s capacity to transcend the gender binary, like his capacity to transcend the binary of life and death, underscores his divinity." Dr. Doyle then goes on to talk about how images of the stab wound looking like a birth canal would also be comforting to medieval women, trans people, and homosexuals on both sides. Now I'm not Christian but I think it's really amazing that such a simple image can elicited so much comfort and joy in so many groups of people who were not able to fully be themselves in the era they lived in. It was a reminder that even Christ was like them, their feelings were valid (to an extent), and that Jesus loved them anyway. Medieval Jesus stab wounds below for people interested.

Brushing aside works that contain canonical character death, probably a place where the water touches the sky, even though it’s an ambiguous ending.

I don’t know if there’s one with an ending that’s more definitively happy than everything else, but bombshell has a very fun, flirty ending.

8. do you get hate on fics?

No outright hate, but I have received a handful of comments that basically amounted to “what you wrote in this story isn’t to my tastes and I'm going to tell you why you should've written what I wanted to read,” which. Y’know. Dldr 🙃

9. do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do, though I’ve never publicly posted anything more explicit than a fade-to-black. Mostly I’ve written collaborative scenes with friends, either full-blown role-play style or more spur-of-the-moment snapshots than highly structured, fully fleshed out scenes. If I’m writing by myself, I tend to lean harder toward sensual and less toward outright E-rated PWP.

10. do you write crossovers?

Not in the strictest sense, although I’ve thrown ideas around with friends, absolutely. I’m more inclined to full-on AUs (e.g., the DBH characters in the Star Wars universe but not interacting with all of the canon SW characters). I tend to lose interest in projects too quickly to sustain crossovers or AUs of significant size.

Not to my knowledge!

No.

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Absolutely, it's actually my preferred way to write.

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Starkiller/Juno was a formative one for me.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?

The Skyrim rewrite. I have a solid 25,000-plus words hanging around, but they barely scratch the surface of the canon story, and I don’t play the game anymore, so. It languishes. I occasionally reread the Battle of Whiterun scene I wrote, though, because I do love it v much.

16. What are your writing strengths?

A tightly bound trinity of subtext, showing instead of telling, and descriptions. I always joke I never write text, I only write subtext. Learning how to tell sometimes instead of showing everything has been. a struggle. When I know the characters really well and can hear them clearly, my dialogue’s also excellent.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Follow-through’s the biggest one. I tend to get bored and thus uninspired fairly easily, so I usually need a strict externally imposed deadline or someone (like a coauthor) who’s otherwise waiting on my finishing a given piece for me to push through to the end. Plotting the final quarter of stories tends to give me a lot of trouble if I don’t come up with the ending right away. If I don’t know where I’m aiming, I wander aimlessly before almost inevitably moving on to another project. This is why most of my solo projects are relatively small.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Nuclear launch codes. No, seriously, it can work so, so, SO well, in VERY limited, bite-size pieces. Unless the work is intended for readers who are familiar with the languages being used, I prefer to see alternate languages used as flavor text only.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Probably Star Wars? Self-insert territory ahoy 😂

20. Favourite fic you've written?

Am I allowed to say a WIP that most people haven’t seen? No? Probably thermal equilibria, chapter two specifically. The dialogue tickles me every time I reread it.

FISH FALLS

On February 11, 1859, in the village of Mountain Ash, Aberdare, South Wales, thousands of living fish fell from the sky during two violent storms, ten minutes apart. The dense downpour took place only in the area around a lumber yard, where many fish were found on the roof. Specimens between one and four inches long fell during the first bout, and others up to five inches long fell during the second. The town curate reported that collected samples were preserved in both fresh and salt water and that those in the saline died. Fish were collected by locals and sent to the British Museum, where Dr. John Gray, keeper of zoology, identified them as minnow and sticklebacks. In February 1839, again in Aberdare, there were two fish falls, ten minutes apart showering the same spot, an area twelve yards by eighty yards.

In 1947, freshwater fish fell in Marksville, Louisiana, during foggy but calm weather. They were a local species, and many were collected for the evening meal.

In 1965, on an Alabama farm, a couple watched a small dark cloud form in the sky. It began to downpour over a concentrated area of 200 square feet for fifteen minutes, while the cloud turned from black to white, raining live catfish, bass, and bream. There had been no unusual weather previously.

In 1985, Fort Worth, Texas, fish fell from a dark cloud following thunderstorm activity. Observer Louis Castoreno commented, "It scared me. When you see fish coming down out of the sky, and there's nobody around, that's scary." Thirty-four fish, each approximately two inches long, were of the type that Castoreno had unsuccessfully fished for in the local Trinity River.

Airielle stared at the text message with a smile on her face. Even though she was happy she was also extremely nervous, this would be her first date in 3 years since…Airielle quickly shook her head trying to get rid of those thoughts. She jumped when Yasmine burst through the door carrying shopping bags. Airielle rolled her eyes as Yasmine passed her a Victoria’s Secret bag. 

“Just something sexy to wear.” Airielle laughed and thanked her. “You nervous? It’s been a while since you been on a date.” Yasmine paused “Even though I still think those other two should count but whatever.” She shrugged. 

“Yeah im freaking the fuck out honestly.” Yasmine reached over and grabbed Airielle’s hands, giving them a squeeze. 

“Just remember, you are not defined by what happened to you. You are the light that refused to surrender.” Airielle smiled softly and looked away from Yasmine. “I know I give you shit about getting back in the dating scene,” Yasmine grabbed Airielle’s cheeks to make her look back at her. “But I just want you to know how proud of you I am. Just have fun and be free.” Airielle pulled Yasmine to her in a tight hug. 

“Yo bro.” Josh looked over at the door when Jon came strolling through. 

“I know this ya house, but I could’ve been naked.” Jon shrugged and plopped his body down on the bed. 

“You ready for tonight? I can’t believe she actually agreed to go out with you.” Josh sucked his teeth and glared over at his twin. 

“What the hell that's supposed to mean?” 

“You ugly as fuck uce” Jon laughed then held his hand up, trying to shield his face and body from Josh’s hits. “Aight, Aight Damn.” 

“If I'm ugly, you ugly. We twins jackass.” 

“I hope you got my girl some roses.” Trin said as she came into the room and sat on the bed next to Jon. Josh nodded and scrubbed his hand over his face. If there was an emotion beyond nervousness, that's what he was. Trinity noticed and placed her hand on his shoulder. 

“This gon be my first- first date since high school man, The last time I was this nervous was with the boy’s mom.” Jon and Trinity winced at the fact he wouldn’t say his ex-wife’s name. “And I was fifteen, i’m thirty-fucking five, why am I so nervous?” 

“Cause you like her uce. And technically yall already went on y’alls first date.” Trinity nodded her head in agreement. “Just be yourself man, she gon fall in love with you.” 

Airielle looked at the clock and cursed. Josh was supposed to be at her place in 30 minutes and she still didn’t decide which dress to wear. She let out a sigh of relief when Yasmine came into her room holding her IPad, on facetime with their other cousin Ashley. 

“As the family fashion expert. We need your help.” Yasmine flipped the camera and showed Ashley all of the dress, shoes and jewelry options they had. 

“Bitch are those my earrings!” Yasmine rolled her eyes and sucked her teeth. 

“Focus Ashley-” 

“I’ve been looking for them everywhere hoe!” Airielle giggled and took the IPAD from Yasmine, turning the camera to herself. 

“I need your opinion Ash, I’m stuck.” Ashley rolled her eyes and nodded. 

“Fine,” She muttered. “Show me again.”

Yasmine had just finished curling the last piece of Airielle’s hair when there was a knock at the front door. Airielle felt like she had to throw up. She was about to run into the bathroom when Yasmine stopped her and pushed her towards the door. 

“No running. Go enjoy yourself.” Airielle nodded and took a deep breath before opening the door. 

“Damn,” Josh said lowly, licking his lips as he shamelessly raked his eyes over her body. “I mean,” he cleared his throat. “You look beautiful.” He felt his cheeks heat up as he passed her the bouquet of white, red and pink roses. 

Airielle took them. “These are so pretty.” She said as she lifted them to her nose to smell them. 

“I mean, beautiful flowers for a beautiful woman.” They both stared at each other before bursting out into laughter. 

“That was so corny,” She said as she shut her apartment door and started walking towards the elevator. He chuckled as he followed her. 

“Yeah aint gon’ lie. That wasn’t my best work.” 

Josh had just pulled up in front of the restaurant and Airielle was about to get out of the car when Josh stopped her. 

“Whoa, whatchu’ doin?” Airielle froze with one of her hands on the handle of the car door. She turned her head and frowned at him. “Opening the door?” She said as more of question and Josh chuckled. 

“Nah, don’t touch that.” He said getting out and rushing over so he could open the door for her. “I got you.” He said as he held out his hand for her to grab. She rolled her eyes with a smile and grabbed his hand, letting him help her out of the car. She smiled wider when he didn’t let go of her hand as they started walking towards the restaurant. He only let go of her hand to hand the valet his keys and a twenty dollar tip. 

“Wow, this place is nice.” She said as the host led them to their table. She smiled at Josh as he pulled out her chair for her. 

“Yeah, Jon recommended it. Said he takes Trin here all the time.”  They sat there in silence. Glancing at each other over their menus, sending secret smiles to each other. 

“So i’ve been told.”Airielle started off, breaking the silence between them. “We technically already had our first date.” Josh nodded with a chuckle. 

“I mean, technically yeah. So what this’ll be our.” He stopped to count on his fingers making her scoff. “Third date.” 

“You did not just count to three on your fingers.” He shrugged with a laugh as the waiter came over to take their orders. Once he walked away Airielle turned her attention back to Josh. “Ok, so tell me something about you that I don’t know.” 

“Damn,” Josh said as he blew out a breath of air. “I can play the piano.” 

“Oh wow foreal?” She asked, eyebrows raised in shock and he nodded. 

“Yeah, me and my brothers. My momma kept us busy so we weren’t tearing up her house. It was so much shit she put us in man, uh- karate, soccer, baseball. Man, any sport that you could think of my mom had me and my brothers there. No your turn.” 

She placed her chin on her palm and smiled at him. “I used to dance and cheer competitively. My parents' garage is literally full of medals and trophies.” 

She narrowed her eyes at him when he started to smirk. “That’s kinda hot.” 

“I was a kid Josh.” She chuckled and threw a piece of her dinner roll at him when he shrugged. 

The rest of their date went amazing. They never ran out of stuff to talk about. They didn’t even realize they were the last two people in the restaurant until the waiter came over to tell them. 

On the ride back to her apartment, they stopped to grab some ice cream. Neither one of them wanted the night to end. After he parked in her complex’s garage they walked slowly to her apartment, holding hands. 

“This was like the best date I've ever been on.” She said, turning towards him as they stopped in front of her door. Her statement made him feel good. 

“Yeah? Me too.” He said with a wide smile. Airielle was about to turn to walk into her apartment when Josh stopped her by grabbing her hand. 

“Can I kiss you?” He asked and Airielle nodded immediately. She honestly thought she would have to make the first move. He grinned before pulling her closer to him and wrapping his arms around her waist. He hesitated before leaning head forward and capturing her lips in a soft, tender kiss. They stood there, lost in eachother only breaking apart at the sound of a loud squeal and a loud clanging sound, like something had dropped coming from inside Airielle’s apartment. 

“Sorry.” They both chuckled at Yasmine’s muffled voice. He gave her another kiss before telling her that he would text her when he got home. After he walked away, Yasmine ripped open the door and yanked Airielle inside. 

“Bitch tell me everything.”

Lucas’ Tattoos and Their Meanings

// Since I updated his tattoo designs, it's time to update the explanation behind all the symbols!

HEAD TATTOOS

x Psycho

A tattoo Lucas received in prison, this is a pretty accurate summation of how he is perceived by others for his actions: psychotic.

Three Dots

The three dots tattoo is a common prison tattoo that represents “mi vida loca,” or “my crazy life.” It’s not associated with any particular gang, but with the gang lifestyle itself. This tattoo is typically found on the hands or around the eyes. It can also carry some religious significance, such as representing Christianity’s holy trinity. The three dot tattoo is often created using a stick-and-poke method, requiring very rudimentary tools. For Lucas, the dots are a combination of both living a very crazy life, as well as being a representation of the Holy Trinity.

Cross

A religious symbol adopted by many prisoners. Its simple appearance makes it easy for many to receive. Much like the three dots, Lucas received it for religious purposes.

Black Tear Drops

Tear drops are a common staple in prison tattoos representing murder or attempted murder while incarcerated. A teardrop outline represents attempted murder, while a fully black teardrop represents successful murder. While incarcerated, Lucas killed two people and he wears that fact as a badge of honor.

Exodus 9:14

An altered verse from the King James Version of the Bible which reads “For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth.” This particular verse is the word of God warning the Pharaoh of Egypt that if he does not let Moses and his people go, he will rain plagues down upon them Lucas resonates heavily with this particular text, as he views himself as a very stern, no-nonsense type of assassin. He offers little warning, and those who fail to heed it shall invoke him upon them. He, as a skilled and experienced hitman, is the ultimate plague one can have cast upon them.

Black Chin Stripe

The meaning of this tattoo varies wildly, but the general consensus is that it done in memory of someone loved and lost.

Spider Webs with Black Widow

Cobwebs typically represent a lengthy term in prison. The symbolism is associated with spiders trapping prey; or criminals trapped behind bars. This tattoo is commonly found on the elbow, signifying sitting around so long with your elbows on the table that a spider made a web on your elbow, though it can also be located on the neck. Black widows in tattoos typically mean that individual is a killer of some sort. Lucas resonates with cobweb tattoos as his sentence was very lengthy for the crimes he committed. Just as well, Lucas is an assassin and hired killer, so the Black Widow is most fitting. It is nestled solidly in its web, representing that he is active and engaged in the criminal lifestyle with no plans to leave any time soon.

ACAB

This acronym is commonly found on the bodies of British prisoners and stands for “All Cops Are Bastards.” This sentiment is very common, especially among inmates, and represents the anti-authoritarian mindset held against law enforcement officers and government offiicials, citing that their true intention is to oppress rather than protect. Given his history with cops, Lucas is less than fond of them.

Black Roses On Thorns

Black roses have multiple meanings. They often represent that someone spent their 18th birthday in prison, though the number of blooms can also correlate to a number of lives taken. For Lucas, it's both.

EWMN

These letters stand for ‘Evil, Wicked, Mean, Nasty.’ Having no particular affiliation with any gang, they simply represent the general disposition of some prison inmates.

Snake Eyes Dice

A snake eyes dice tattoo typically symbolizes bad luck or misfortune. In gambling, "snake eyes" refers to rolling a pair of ones with dice, which is the lowest possible roll in many dice games and often results in a loss. For Lucas, it's a reminder that his life has largely turned out the way it has due to perceived bad luck.

TATTOO CLOSE UPS

Valeriya (Chest Tattoo)

Particularly found in Russian prisons, chest tattoos symbolize a ‘Prince of Thieves.’ This is the highest rank a Russian convict can achieve, and are generally worn by higher-ups in the mob. Crosses on the chest are often associated with religion as well. While Lucas was involved in organized crime during his incarceration, the purpose of the tattoo is much more personal. In addition to the religious aspect, the heart, roses, and the name tattooed over his own heart were done in memory of his first partner. He was devoted to her, as they effectively grew up on the streets together but were separated when he was arrested. He still holds a candle for her to this very day and seeks her out in hopes of reuniting.

A continuation of his neck tattoo, Lucas continues to get roses to mark the number of people he's assassinated.

Left Sleeve Tattoo

Lucas' left sleeved tattoo has many motifs. The continuation of black roses represents the number of people he has killed. The pig head on a spear is another show of his disdain for law enforcement (pigs). Zamość is a historical city in Poland with a strong connection to farming and agriculture, especially wheat and milk - as shown by the wheat and the bull accompanying the name. This was where Lucas grew up. The cross and rosary are a symbol of his religious beliefs as a Roman Catholic. A crest of a white-tailed eagle draped in the Polish flag with the Roman numerals VI represent the 6 years he spent in service with the Polish Land Forces. Inverse of it is another white-tail eagle holding a cross - the symbol of the AW, or Polish Foreign Intelligence Agency, which he briefly served in before vanishing. The patch of the JW GROM with the Roman numerals VII represent the 7 years he served in the Polish Special Forces between his time in the Land Forces and AW. The sword on his arm represents honor, freedom, power, and strength. The cross on his arm is a memorial to his father, Emmanuel Kumiega. It features his name, his date of birth, his date of death, and the term Ojciec - the Polish word for father.

Death Before Dishonor (Right Side Chest)

A common phrase in tattoo culture. It is used to indicate that one would rather die than do something shameful or disgraceful, such as surrender. And Lucas would rather die than surrender.

Heaven Sent, Hell Bound (Right Side)

The term Heaven Sent, Hell Bound refers to the bearer being viewed as a gift from God or otherwise desired and perfect, but still unable to achieve success or otherwise doomed to fall from grace due to circumstances beyond their control. For Lucas, he was loved beyond compare by his father. But once he was gone, Lucas was pretty much doomed to fall down the wrong path and become who he is now.

Crossed Pistols (Pelvis)

A very common motif in tattoos with a variety of meanings. For Lucas, it was a simple nod to the fact that his preferred weapon of choice is a silenced M1911 pistol.

Snake Sleeve (Right arm)

Like his other sleeve, Lucas' snake-sleeve is rife with motifs. In Christianity, snakes are sly, coy, tricksters synonymous with deceit, betrayal, the fall of Adam and Eve, temptation, and the Devil. Lucas embraces the fact that he is viewed as evil and thrives off of the fact he leads other to their downfall or doom. Playing cards, or suits of the deck in general, usually indicate an inmate who likes to gamble. This applies to gambling games both within prison and without; it can also represent a person who generally views life as a gamble. Specific cards have specific meaning in organized crime, but Lucas chooses the Aces to represent himself a jack of all trades when it comes to business. The pen that transforms into a sword as its hilt is a symbolic way of translating the phrase "the pen is mightier than the sword" into art form, and betrays his secretly love for literature and calligraphy. At the tip of the pen is a semi-colon. Semi-colons are often representative of the fact that the individual has attempted suicide in the past and/or struggled with self-harm or self-destructive tendencies. Lucas will be the first to admit that he is an alcoholic using drinks and sometimes drugs to cope with his own dark thoughts. He has a history of attempting suicide and while he's somewhat better now, the thoughts still linger. Five Dots (Left hand) linger by the snake's open mouth. These dots differ greatly from the previous tattoo – five dots represents time done in prison. Also known as the quincunx, the four dots on the outside represent four walls, with the fifth on the inside representing the prisoner. This tattoo can be found internationally, among both American and European inmates. The dots are typically found on an inmate’s hand, between the thumb and forefinger.

Thorn-Bound Wings (Back)

Wings that begin in the shape of the devil but have angel feathers represent Lucas' desire to be a good person, but that his nature is inherently evil and flawed. Thorns in tattoos are typically a reference to penance and hardship as a way of redemption, as referenced in Jesus wearing a crown of thorns. In Lucas' case, these thorns binding his wings tethers him and shows that the same redemption he seeks keeps him from ever truly being free.

OVERALL TATTOO MAP

Lucas' tattoos are localized to his upper body. His legs remain unmarked to try and help him stay somewhat able to blend in. Eventually, he plans to continue trailing the black roses across his body in order to keep track of his kill count. And as life goes on, he hopes to find other motifs to add to his story.

SAINT JOB THE RIGHTEOUS (1350 B.C.)

The righteous Job (whose name means “persecuted”), God’s faithful servant, was the perfect image of every virtue. The son of Zarah and Bossorha (Job 42), Job was a fifth-generation descendent of Abraham. He was a truthful, righteous, patient, and pious man who abstained from evil. Job was rich and blessed by God in all things, as was no other son of Ausis (his country, which lay between Idoumea and Arabia). However, divine condescension permitted him to be tested.

Job lost his children, his wealth, his glory, and every consolation all at once. His entire body became a terrible wound covered with boils. Yet he remained steadfast and patient in the face of his misfortune for seven years, always giving thanks to God.

Later, God restored his former prosperity, and he had twice as much as before. Job lived for 170 years after his misfortune, completing his earthly life in 1350 B.C. at 240. Some authorities say that Job’s afflictions lasted only one year and that afterward, he lived for 140 years, reaching the age of 210.

Job’s explanations are among the most poetic writings in the Old Testament book, which bears his name. It is one of the most edifying portions of Holy Scripture. Job teaches us that we must endure life’s adversities patiently and with trust in God. As Saint Anthony the Great (January 17) says, the faithful can't be saved without temptations.

The Orthodox Church reads the book of Job, the first of the seven wisdom books of the Old Testament, during Holy Week, drawing a parallel between Job and Christ as righteous men who suffered through no fault of their own. God allowed Satan to afflict Job so that his faithfulness would be proven. Christ, the only sinless one, suffered voluntarily for our sins. The Septuagint text of Job 42:17 says that Job “will rise again with those whom the Lord raises up.” This passage is read on Great and Holy Friday, when the composite Gospel at Vespers speaks of the tombs being opened at the moment the Savior died on the Cross, and the bodies of the saints were raised, and they appeared to many after Christ’s Resurrection (Mt.27:52).

VENERABLE MICAH DISCIPLE OF St SERGIUS OF RADONEZH (1385)

Saint Micah of Radonezh was one of the first disciples of Saint Sergius of Radonezh, and lived with him in the same cell, and under his guidance, he attained a high degree of spiritual perfection. For his meekness of soul and purity of heart, Saint Micah was permitted to witness the appearance of the Mother of God to his great teacher. Once, after Saint Sergius had completed the morning Rule of prayer, he sat down to rest for a while; but suddenly, he said to his disciple, “Be alert, my child, for we shall have a wondrous visitation.”

Hardly had he uttered these words when a voice was heard, “The All-Pure One draws near.” Suddenly there shone a light brighter than the sun. In fear, Saint Micah fell down upon the ground and lay there as if he were dead. When Saint Sergius lifted up his disciple, he asked, “Tell me, Father, what is the reason for this wondrous vision? My soul has nearly parted from my body from fright.” Saint Sergius then informed his disciple about the appearance of the Most Holy Theotokos.

Saint Micah fell asleep in the Lord in the year 1385.

Saint Micah’s relics rest in a crypt at the Trinity-Sergiev Lavra. On December 10, 1734, over Saint Micah’s tomb, a church was consecrated in honor of the Appearance of the Most Holy Theotokos and the Holy Apostles Peter and John the Theologian to Saint Sergius of Radonezh.

Other tell tales include: changing doctrine when "prophecy" doesn't come through.

Matthew 7:15–18 (ESV): 15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.

• A true prophet’s words will be fulfilled (Deuteronomy 18:21–22; Jeremiah 28:8–9).

• A true prophet’s teachings are consistent with Scripture (2 Peter 1:20–21; Revelation 22:18–19).

• A true prophet’s teachings will encourage righteous behavior and provide spiritual benefit (Deuteronomy 13:1–4; Jeremiah 23:13–14, 32; Ezekiel 13:17–23; 14:4–8; Lamentations 2:14).

• A true prophet’s life will reflect a divine call (Isaiah 28:7; Jeremiah 23:10–11, 14; 29:9; Zephaniah 3:4; Matthew 7:15–20).

• A true prophet will acknowledge Jesus Christ as divine (1 John 4:1–6).

Their doctrine changes with false prophecies, and not the like "oh, we weren't applying this passage because we didn't like it" change. I mean the watchtower is edited every few years and changes in BIG ways. If you're a witness, get the newest watchtower, and go find the oldest copy you can and read them side by side.

Now, there's also some specific things I can get into:

Jehovah's witnesses believe Jesus is a created being, not part of a divine Trinity and equal to God. This is contrary to Titus 2:13, John 1:1-3,14-18, John 8:58 (in conjunction with Exodus 3:14, in John, Jesus refers to him self with God's name, I AM.) John 5:18, John 10:30-33, John 20:28-29, Isaiah 9:6, and Hebrews 1:8. And those are just the passages that *DIRECTLY* call Jesus God, or equate Jesus with God. There's more that infer it, Hebrews 1:6 in conjunction with revelations 22:9, (We are only permitted to worship God, yet Jesus never corrects anyone who worships him. Thereby if he is from God and does not correct people who worship him such as the angel in Revelations, he is either God, or a liar and false prophet.) (This also applies to several other heresies. I'm sorry, Jesus literally states "I am God" in John 10:30. It's plain text as clear as day.)

Jehovah's witnesses do not believe Jesus physically rose from the dead, however, in the Bible it references his physical resurrection a lot.

Luke 24:36-39, John 20:27, in John 2:19 Jesus refers to his body is a temple and says when it's destroyed he will raise it up in 3 days.

For @storyweaverofgondor‘s blog anniversary event, I did something I didn’t think of at first - I retranslated JSfJC from the original into a new (better imo) version.(If you’ve known me long enough, you can realise how much I am annoyed by the translations.) rant/general anxiety following

So I need to apply to universities soon. Technically I need to apply next year (2024) BUT I need to take some tests and stuff and do trips for open days and things like that so the preparation starts in January. This is causing me a lot of stress but that’s not the issue

My dream university is Oxford. My second dream uni is Trinity College Dublin.

I’m really interested in languages (& linguistics) and acting, but I’m worried that I won’t find jobs if I do those studies and that I just won’t have assured for myself a good future. It’s well-known that most actors who aren’t famous really struggle and I just don’t see many opportunities in linguistics - as much as I want to do historical linguistic research, I do want stable income in the future, and I’m not sure either acting or linguistics can guarantee that (more than, say, a business degree).

Oxford is truly the university I want to go to, and setting aside the cost (It’d end up costing me about 50000 pounds per year with the overseas fees!) I just don’t know what to study. I’ve selected three courses that I’m interested in, namely:

English Language and Literature

English and Modern Languages

Modern Languages and Linguistics

I don’t know what to choose (that’s another thing to think about later on), but in two of those there’s Modern Languages, and that’s something I’m worried about - I currently take fluent English and French, and I’m learning German too (and Latin and Ancient Greek but they aren’t needed for these courses).

“For Linguistics and French, German, Modern Greek*, Italian*, Portuguese*, Russian and Spanish candidates would usually be expected to have the language to A-level, Advanced Higher, Higher Level in the IB or another academic equivalent.”

(Modern Greek, Italian, and Portuguese all have beginner options, but German doesn’t)

The only language between French and German that I have fluency level (A-level) in is French, but to be honest... I don’t really want to study stuff in French, especially when the resources will be available to me in the original language if ever I feel interested. That leaves German, and although this is my 4th year... I still have a lot of trouble with it, and I’m maybe A2 level. I used to be B1, but I missed a year so my level went down. That’s obviously not A-level, and not enough to register German as the main Modern Language I’m studying. But Modern Languages and Linguistics is the course I’m the most interested in from all three, and I really want to do it, so I don’t see a solution in this apart from studying German like mad next year, but I’m afraid that still won’t be enough. (If anyone has read this and has any input, please please please say anything about this it’s horrible stressing about it and anything would help)

I’m also scared of taking English Language & Literature because, well, while I love English, I’m not quite sure I want to spend an additional four years doing analysis, however much I like it (I love analysis, just not as much as linguistics). This does seem like the degree that brings about the most options for the future, though, and the most accessible one for me.

The last one in Oxford that I’m interested in (these aren’t actually ranked apart from ML&L, but I’m writing this as I think about it) is English and Modern Languages.

“For English and French, German, Russian and Spanish “Essential:  Candidates are expected to have English Literature, or English Language and Literature, to A-level, Advanced Higher, Higher Level in the IB or any other equivalent. Candidates would usually be expected to have the language or languages to A-level, Advanced Higher, Higher Level in the IB or another academic equivalent.”

Same problem as before: I don’t have that level in German. I definitely have it in French, but again: I don’t exactly want to study in French, especially since if I really wanted to I could study for (almost) free in Paris considering that I’m a French citizen. French is my fallback for the situation in which absolutely nothing can be done to make my German better, in which case I’ll apply to the courses in French.

All this to say that I don’t know what course to try to apply to at Oxford, and just how difficult it’ll be for me to apply considering my level. I just don’t know what to do about Oxford.

Now, onto Trinity College Dublin! (Which I’m going to call TCD because it’s a long name.)

TCD was presented to me in a meeting for Irish unis and it stood out to me, and now that I’m thinking about it seriously I think I’d like it there. But if the choice of courses at Oxford was high, TCD has SO MUCH STUFF. I have never seen so many possible courses. At least price isn’t the issue there - I’d be at around 10000 euros/year which is feasible much more than Oxford’s 50000 pounds.

The courses that interest me are:

Acting (unsure if I’m really interested in this one)

Diploma in Acting and Theatre (same question for all things theatre... is it worth it?)

Drama and Theatre Studies

English Studies (see Oxford point about analysis)

German (JH) (I have NO IDEA what JH means. None whatsoever. I’m just interested by the course description) I feel like this one could be feasible if I enrolled as a beginner (I’d know the basics before other students but I’m willing to live with that no problem)

Linguistics (JH) (The opportunity problem)

Modern Language (JH) (Here, I think I could take German, or at least as a New Minor in Second Year. That seems possible according to the website? It would be if I wanted to take something else like Theatre or English.)

And that concludes the list! There’s a really wide range available at TCD and honestly that’s what scares me - what to choose? What if I choose the wrong thing and I’ll live knowing that I’ll have applied to something wrong when the other option was right there??

The German/French problem is also slightly present for TCD but much less majorly (ha), since they offer beginner courses for most of those. I’m just confused about what to choose, and I guess scared at the idea of college full stop. I just don’t know what to take. (Opinion that’s unpopular with worldwide education systems: DON’T FORCE PEOPLE TO CHOOSE THEIR FUTURE AS TEENAGERS. IT’S VERY VERY SCARY.)

I think that concludes the rant. I wanted to say something else about TCD but I don’t remember what, so I’ll stop here before the swirling ball of anxiety in my stomach becomes even bigger. Also, class at 8.20 AM tomorrow morning!

The God, Indra, is to be found in the soul world at a time when the Christ was not yet perceptible to Earth evolution, although the Christ light shone upon him. A man who is able to perceive Indra may well say that this Being now reveals something different from his earliest revelations; for at first the Christ light did not ray back from him. The Vedas came to mankind in an abstract form. The Divine Logos, of whom the Gospel of St. John speaks is the Living and Creative Word Itself! That which we find in the Sankhya philosophy, as the law to which the cosmic forms are subject, that, historically transposed into the old Hebrew revelation, is what St. Paul calls the Law. The third stream we find in St. Paul as Faith in the risen Christ. That which was Yoga in Krishna, in St. Paul was Faith, only in a more concrete form — Faith, that was to replace the Law. So the trinity, Veda, Sankhya and Yoga were as the redness of the dawn of that which later rose as sun. Veda appears again in the actual Being of Christ Himself now entering in a concrete, living way into historical evolution, not pouring Himself out abstractly into space and the distances of time, but living as a single Individual, as the Living Word.
