Transformers: Prime Decepticons - Hands
So, I was looking at hands, as one does when they’re bored, and I noticed a few things:
Every single ‘Con has claws, except Soundwave and Breakdown.
Megatron, Starscream, Shockwave, Dreadwing, Skyquake, Knockout, and Airachnid have 5 fingers.
Soundwave, Breakdown, Insecticons, Predaking, Darksteel, and Skylynx have 4 fingers.
Vehicons only have 3 fingers.
Predacon claws are flawless in form and aesthetic.
While I know Soundwave has spindly fingers for practical reasons, it’s the perfect symbolic representation of how he declawed himself for the sake of the Cause, giving up much of his power to follow Megatron.
Kudos to the character designers for crafting each Decepticon’s hands to match their function:
Megatron, Dreadwing, Skyquake: Sharp and wide for various combat situations
Soundwave: Thin and straight for work with computers and tech
Starscream: Light and “bony,” perfect for a flight frame
Shockwave, Knockout, and Airachnid: Sharp and delicate for scientific and/or medical work
Breakdown: Wide and blunt for brute force attacks
Vehicons: Useless
Insecticons: Wide and curved for digging and slashing
Predacons: Sharp with additional armor plating for evisceration (help I love this word so much)
The Autobots could only dream of having hands this masterfully crafted ✨
#one day I will do hand studies for these guys#this post was not on my list of planned posts#but Soundwave’s hands have consumed my thoughts and I kinda fell down a rabbit hole#transformers prime#maccadam#tfp#tfp megatron#tfp soundwave#//superior//#tfp starscream#tfp shockwave#tfp dreadwing#tfp skyquake#tfp knockout#tfp breakdown#tfp airachnid#tfp vehicons#tfp insecticons#tfp predaking#tfp darksteel#tfp skylynx

Rewatching TFP while doing a commission and ohhhh Yan! Vehicon harem... So many bots following behind you as you work. Perhaps you have one or two that personally work under you (Steve!!) and they make deals to switch around to have more time with you. Your personal Vehicon wouldn't usually give up his time with you but one of Soundwave's Vehicon has access to the cameras and has images of you that are usually private (Soundwave is def also a yandere here.) so they made a deal and switched roles (They look identical, it's hard to know if that vehicon is yours or not.)
They are definitely gossipers, with that much optics around the Nemesis it's not impossible to hear a rumour or two, especially in regards to you. If one of them saw you probably getting railed by one of the higher ranks, they'd share all of it down to the minute details. Imagine like a book club but it's stories of you fucked out. Makes them wish it was them though, but the group masturbation session makes it bearable.
TFP designs are so peak though, the vehicons are so cute. Anyways back to drawing

Can I be honest. I reaallyy love the idea of getting fucked by vehicons, or any of the decepticons, because Megatron commanded them to.
Weird cucking/voyeurism by demand I suppose??
Idk maybe some vehicons trying to keep pace with Meg’s instructions, or even soundwave having at it while Meg’s strokes his spike and orders him around on how to fuck you.
i love this with all my dick
I'm a big fan of Megatron being a cuckhold, especially if he gets to order others around on how to fuck you
The vehicons are uncomfortable as fuck in front of him, but you make things worth it (kinda). I mean for once they can enjoy themselves performing a much easier task and not getting thrown off the Nemesis and at a falling Autobot ( * *cough cough* * Smokescreen)
Soundwave is DEFINITELY an option, although I typically see him as holding the reader in place and filming as his Master orders

Have you ever thought how in that one episode of TFP where Ratchet is high on robot steroids and launches a single servo attack on the Decepticons, and no one knew who he was?
Like Knockout thought he was some hotshot new player, legitimately thought he was a brand new warrior that had been brought in. And he's an officer, someone who would be updated and aware (at least somewhat) of relevant information about the handful of Autobots that are on Earth and kicking Decepticon aft. It had been repeatedly referenced that Ratchet doesn't leave the base and Arcee even said something along the lines of millennia passing since he'd been in combat.
Can you imagine being a vehicon in that mine?
Someone not entitled to that extra information because you are a "highly trained" body shield and all of a sudden there's this new person? Just taking down EVERYONE? SCREAMING for Megatron to face him? Like?!?!? Who is this? There are like 5 'bots, who the frag is this person?
AND then you hear how he tortured a servant-class miner to get his info. Like, wtf dude, that's Decepticon low.
And then he disappears? Is never seen on the battlefield again? No confirmed death, just gone.
And then he shows up again working with Shockwave?!?!? Helps restore Cybertron?!?! DISAPPERS AGAIN UNTIL THE PREDACONS START ROAMING AND FRAGGING UNICRON LAUNCHES AN ATTACK?
Ratchet is a cryptid to the Nemesis's vehicon population and nothing can change my mind.

Bonjour Factual! Sorry it's been a bit since I sent an ask, life has been pretty crazy! But I finally found the time to write and tell you how AMAZING your Transformers art these past few days have been! As I've said before, Prime is a childhood show of mine, and I'm amazed to see how well you have captured the characters personalities, and how seamlessly you've mastered drawing the designs in your art style (even if it takes time!)
Also, Im so glad you've explored the Optimus/Ratchet dynamic the show occasionally showed- and also I just wanted to point out your observation regarding Ratchet is correct! Back during the war on Cybertron, as shown in the aligned continuity prequel novels and games, Ratchet was an absolute BEAST on the battlefield, fighting right alongside Prime as both a field medic and elite warrior.

He really only took a backseat by the time he got back to Earth because his age was finally catching up to him, and because, as the last living medic/space bridge tech in the area, was too valuable to risk losing. As you pointed out, the few times he does fight in the show he proves to still be very capable, only really outclassed by the Decepticon higher ups. (So feel free to make the old man as cool as you want in any future works!)
However! Before I go, there is one thing that I must protest as a loyal Vehicon enjoyer! In your recent post, you referred to them as Drones! Among Vehicons the term "drone" is considered a derogatory term, which you'll notice some Cons like Starscream (of course) use often in the show. This is untrue! Though a lesser known fact, one I believe I've mentioned before, the Vehicons are Clones, not Drones! Every individual we see is an individual cybertronian, fighting for the Decepticon cause!

The show even confirms this in several ways! For one, if you listen closely, every single Vehicon who speaks in the show is given a unique voice actor despite their shared bodies, and many display distinct personalities- some openly loathe Starscream, while others seem to highly respect him for example. Breakdown is even seen casually chatting with one! And on the darker side of things, Ratchet of course knew he could torture one for information when on his synth rampage- and also, the spark extractor super weapon works on them, showing individual souls pulled from each helpless Vehicon! 😢

On the bright side, several go on to survive the war, and prove their individuality in the various sequel series- including the bounty hunter Shadelock, who actually had his face seemingly reconstructed to stick out from his cloned brethren:
As well as the fan favorite, Steve! Poor guy got his brain module scrambled and forgot his original name, so he just picked one off a human billboard he saw! (He also ended up turning over a new leaf, and he, alongside some other Vehicons, decided to stop fighting the Autobots, and they left on good terms)

But forgive the rant! I've Always enjoyed the Vehicons small but important role as not-so-emotionless cannon fodder in the show, and if you rewrite them as Drones that's fine by me! The new movie TF One kinda did that with the Death Trackers, who were directly inspired by the Vehicons! Regardless, I wish you a wonderful day Factual! Hope your health is holding up! ( Oh, and almost forgot, thanks a million for drawing foxy again! Still one of my favorite series of yours! Here's to hoping to see him again someday! )
Thank you so much, I appreciate all the compliments! :DD But all this Vehicon chatter feels like.. honestly like its riddled with plot holes-
The reason I say this, is because all that you said about Vehicon clones clashes with what we see with Starscreams clones in season 2 episode 10.
In this episode, Starscream walks into that lab and calls the base bodies "protoforms". But right after this he says "Lets give cloning a whirl, shall we?" And later on Megatron refers to them as "clones". So its safe to say that these 5 Starscreams are CLONES.
This is where the Starscreams clash with the Vehicons. First, they all have Starscreams exact voice. And they claim "We are as one commander." "We share your memories." "Your very feelings." "Even your insatiable quest for power." Yet despite the Vehicons ALSO being clones, they all have different voices and opinions. How?
So by extension, if they are clones and are meant to have the same feelings and opinions as each other- just like the Starscreams- then how come some of them turned Autobot, while others took pleasure in beating Orion (amnesia Optimus) down and kicking him in the face while he refused to fight? That doesn't line up with what we saw in S2 EP10.
And another point, the Vehicons had their sparks ripped out by the spark extractor. A spark is the "soul" of a Transformer. So are you saying that Cybertronians have the ability to create souls like primus did? These measly mortal bots have the ability to create literal souls and life via cloning? Talk about overpowered technology and playing God..
These few points made me lean towards other options that in my mind, make a little more sense then what we see with the Starscreams and Vehicons..
The main solution I'm leaning towards is to make them like Starscreams clones. An important point is they do NOT have sparks. They are like robots or.. dare I say drones- in the most literal sense. They all have the same voice and same mind. They were probably cloned long ago from a few specific loyal warriors that Megatron had. The originals don't exist anymore so now new sets of clones are clones of clones of clones. Which slowly degrades the quality of the clones overtime. Which is why you'll have like 10 surrounding 1 bot and NONE OF THEM land a single shot. Its because their aim and reaction time had deteriorated over the multiple clone generations.
Its also why they are so expendable and Megatron never seems to run out of them. If they don't have real sparks, they're not real people. So there is absolutely no loss to the Deceptions when they die. They can just make a copy of that exact fallen soldier over and over again. Its why the Autobots don't seem too upset when they kill all of those Vehicons and don't hesitate to hurt them.
Also Optimus could have gotten on Ratchets case when he attacked that miner because even though it's just a clone, its still a miner clone. His morals still apply to this creature. Also it doesn't have the mind or emotions of a fighter. It was afraid and wasn't designed to/couldn't protect itself. So Ratchet attacking it- despite it not being a living Cybertronian, was wrong.
Now all this to say- I'm not trying to insult Vehicons or anyone's love/opinions on them. I feel like some of my TFP views have been clashing with a lot of people lately.. I just cant help but read things wrong or get analytical or try to sniff out plot holes.
The Vehicons don't seem to make sense to me because they are nothing like Starscreams clones. And they have sparks, which shouldn't make sense.
So either I change the canon and remove their sparks and individuality to line up with the Starscreams clones, or I make them all real and individual people who would absolutely be much harder to fight then the canon Vehicons because they have real battle experience and real minds like the Autobots do. (Having real people would also cause so much more chaos in the Decepticon ranks that I don't think Megatron could keep them under control)
#long post#my response#tfp vehicons#tfp starscream#Unless there's somehow 2 different VERSIONS of cloning technology that was never mentioned#I can't see them working out if I stick to the canon.#They're either fully clones with no sparks or they're fully living creatures with sparks#there's no in between

Unique vs Uniform: How Smokescreen Breaks the Standard Kid-Appeal Character Mold Cheetor Was Trapped In

Worry not, despite the fact that I am not fond of him, this is not me tearing down Cheetor. Rather, it's me explaining how Smokescreen was written better in contrast to the beast-former. I only do this to explain to people how and why Smokescreen works better as a "Kid-Appeal Character" in a fresh and fantastic way, and to (hopefully) guide people onto a more solid path should they wish to add a similar character to their cast.
Now, onto the post!
From the beginning, Smokescreen appears to be the standard issue kid friendly character. He's eager, he looks up to Optimus like the rest of us, and wants to do his part for the mission.
However, his approach to the crew and life in the War makes it clear he's anything but stock.
In his debut, Smokescreen is quick to follow orders without being inflexible. He does what he's told by Optimus before learning of Starscream's appearance with the Apex Armor. Unlike so many others before him, Smokescreen does a quick analysis of the situation, draws on his knowledge of the Iacon relics, and grabs the item he needs to take down Starscream. If you rewatch that episode, it's clear Smokescreen knew from the start what he was doing. He came up with a plan for dealing with the Decepticon second-in-command in less than three minutes and it worked perfectly. This shows us the "rookie" is quite smart despite his eagerness, and it only increases from here.
After these episodes, Smokescreen continues to show his chops for initiative and righteous anger. The whole reason he messes with Vince, as I've covered before, is in Jack's defense and to boost his nonexistent self-confidence; he did not do it for himself, but for the guy who was clearly a target and who he understood was to be protected. After all, even Cybertronian kids have to deal with bullying and jerks like humans do. Furthermore, in the two moments of the episode where he "blows it" by revealing himself to a human and bringing Jack on a mission, they are both the result of Team Prime's lack of attention to their newcomer's inexperience with Earth. As proven, Smokescreen owns up to his mistakes (when it's explained at base for the first goof up) and wouldn't have brought Jack along if they'd actually sat him down and told him all he needed to know about humans and their squishy-ness. And don't forget, Smokescreen actually delayed the Decepticons by at least two hours with his distraction and attack when the whole team was on a wild goose chase and Megatron was seconds away from hauling a mountain out of the Earth and toting it around the globe like the world's deadliest Sword of Damocles.
Smokescreen always goes in with a plan or at least a rough outline of one, as evidenced by the sheer speed and awareness of his initial attack and grab for the Star Saber. He knew what his goal was, knew he couldn't slow down for the rest of the 'Cons, and dispatched them quickly while aiming to snatch the Saber. The only reason it failed was because Alph Trion failed to tell Smokescreen only a Prime could pull out the Star Saber from the "lockdown" mode it initiates (which is a convenient thing to forget to tell your protégé, but that's a separate ball of wax.)
And after he's gotten the first Omega Key and saved Optimus, Smokescreen isn't acting like, "look at me, I'm the greatest thing since sliced bread", or "I'm on the same level as the team now, and I can rub this in their faces". Notably Arcee thinks this is what he's doing, but that's her narrow-minded perspective on it. Rather, Smokescreen is ecstatic that's he's been able to get two (and a half, since he did most of the footwork until Optimus arrived for the Star Saber) relics for the team. Not even a month on Earth, and he's been able to help his hero and his team get an edge on the Decepticons. How is that not a cause for joy? And while he's disappointed that Optimus didn't pick him for the first mission, it's more akin to a child feeling left out of something they want to partake in. And even then, Smokescreen doesn't throw a fit; he accepts it and waits for the next mission.
When he's griping about the hit Arcee took and the loss of the Key, he's not doing it to make himself out to be more. He's understandably upset that she and Bee were taken out, and is only wishing he'd been there to help. Arcee brutishly cuts him off because she's gotten it into her head that he's self-absorbed, but Smokescreen makes it clear in his followup sentence that he only wants them all (himself included, which is made clear by his mature stance toward the War effort) on their A-game. Yes, he adds at the end that he "has a good track record so far", but he's completely justified with that thought. I mean seriously, Smokescreen's been in the series for under 6 episodes at this point and already won the above achievements. Why shouldn't he, at the very end, admit that he specifically might have been able to turn the tide in the lost mission?
Later, when he kicks himself after letting his guard down, it's simply because he wants to bring his best to the team, and he feels that even one mistake - a mistake as critical as losing an Omega Key, showing how seriously he takes the War - is cause for complete failure. It's why he's so hard on himself, why he won't accept Bulkhead's attempt to lift the burden from his shoulders, and why Arcee is the final nail in the coffin. Because the fembot refuses to see him as anything but a brat, she snaps at him to, basically, "grow up and stop acting like it's all about you". Smokescreen knows that's not what it is that's the problem, but when no one, not even Optimus Prime, his hero, stands up for him, it causes him to leave in the hopes that he won't continue to be a failure for his heroes.
Because of this, Smokescreen is soon captured by the Decepticons and gets an Omega Key unceremoniously yanked out of him. However, rather than wait for a rescue, Smokescreen gets Knock Out to let his guard down, tussles with him for the Phase Shifter, and escapes the medical bay. Having quickly realized where he is and what that means, Smokescreen comes up with a plan to get the remaining Omega Keys and executes it as he goes. And when the only means of actual escape proves to be jumping off the ship, Smokescreen does so without a second thought. He manages to kill some Vehicons, radio for a Ground Bridge, and evens survives a fall that would have killed him if not for the Phase Shifter letting him survive a drop from the upper atmosphere.
The second season of TFP wonderfully breaks the mold of "kid appeal" characters with Smokescreen. He's likable but in need of maturing, and he matures on the fly. Because of this, Smokescreen stands apart from every other take on this trope - including his Beast Wars predecessor, Cheetor.
From what I've seen of Cheetor, he was painfully a stock "audience surrogate" character. The moment the crew of the Axalon lands on prehistoric Earth, he wastes no time preening over his new alt-mode, its abilities, and practically shoots out of the ship to run rampant on the world. Then he leaps into a battle with the Predacon leader Megatron and nearly gets himself killed, while obviously disobeying Primal before the large ape has to rescue him.
Not only is this a stark contrast to Smokescreen, it remains Cheetor's staple characterization. He's egotistical, cocky, and his desire to be seen as the equal of his peers causes him to blindly run in and prove himself to the others time and time again. Furthermore, Cheetor, unlike Smokescreen, needs to be rescued by his team so often, it's embarrassing. He jumps in with no plan and gets caught, and when he's not doing that, he's being an immature kid who either goofs off or props himself up, which is when the others rightly give him a reality check for his antics or the episode's moral story does it for them.
Mind you, I do not say this is bad for Cheetor. Rather, it's the usual mold of a "Kid-Appeal Character". As such, he does not do much in the way of standing out, nor does Cheetor undergo as much growth as Smokescreen does. While you could say it was because Smokescreen was fighting in the Great War, Cheetor had an arguably worse war because it was somewhere in space and time that was always on the brink of disaster with one wrong move. Therefore, Cheetor does not have much of an excuse.
This is why I believe Smokescreen's handling was better than Cheetor's, and why I personally feel younger writers - or writers who want to break away from old standbys that run the risk of becoming stale - should look to Transformers: Prime's Smokescreen instead of a cult classic like Beast Wars' Cheetor.
See you around!

So I know for a fact that ancient Spartans learned dancing so they can fight better so imagine if Decepticons did that too.
In dancing you go with the rhythm of the Music and in the sky you use air around you to be faster and agile, dance also makes you adapt to different things so it was very useful. I can see Starscream dancing with his soldiers during practice and keeping an eye on their movements and if they are missing a beat or overall make mistakes. Some decepticons didn't want to participate but Soundwave and Starscream are dying to host them, put Telephone by Lady Gaga and watch officer dance like he was the star of the night but don't challenge Starscream in Irish steps or you will break your ankles. Megatron was reluctant to it but after Soundwave and Starscream begged him he joined and for an ex gladiator he was amazing at waltzer. Starscream is his dance partner and he was a bit scared when he stepped on his foot a couple of times but he persisted. Dreadwing joined too and he also learned Irish steps so he and Starscream always compete who will be better. The whole ship loves it and happily participates in them, even though they are not mandatory. This also helps them to disassociate from the war problems and to explore the planet that they are on. Although he won't admit it Megatron especially likes them because he can be gentle and soft without being judged and he takes every opportunity to have them, Starscream also likes them because it reminds him of home, memories of him dancing alone in his apartment make him the happiest person ever.
Drop in the comments what do you think?
