you sighed as you switched your phone off. while smiling, you got up and rushed downstairs. niki messaged you, asking if you wanted to go out again and obviously you said yes.

"hello mr nishimura" you said teasingly as you hugged him. "hello ms yln" he said as you both released from the hug. "you good pretty girl?" he asked as he looked in your eyes. "yeah" you blushed and gave him a huge smile. "well lets get going then" he said, softly pulling your arm.

"first of all, why are we even out, its like 10pm" you said checking your watch. "shut up and just walk yn" niki said rolling his eyes jokingly. "whatever" you said crossing your arms.

a little while later, you two reach the nearby park. the same one he took you to when he asked you on your first date. still walking hand-in-hand, you saw a tent with lights coming into view. "what's this?" you asked looking at your boyfriend. "a little something I put together" niki shrugged as he rubbed the nape of his neck. "can we go inside?" you asked. "well duh" niki said laughing.

you entered the tent. there was blankets and pillows everywhere. snacks were in the corner with juice and his laptop sitting in the middle. the dim fairy lights hanging from the ceiling of the tent made it feel more like home than anything else. "wow" you said as you made yourself comfortable. "lets watch the minions?" you said as you laughed. "of course, anything for you madam" niki said in a formal manner. you laughed.

niki loved looking at you. the way your eyes would crinkle when you laugh and how your cheeks get red after a while of smiling at him. hence the reason he is looking at you right now. you two were cuddled up, you holding onto his one arm and resting your head on his shoulder.

nikis thoughts were running wild. he has never felt this way over someone. the feeling where he never wants you to leave. he wants to be there every step of your success, whether you liked or not. he wants to be here for you when you are sad. he wants to be with you. forever. in this lifetime and the next. it was overwhelming for him.

"what's going on in that head of yours?" you said poking his head. you noticed he spaced out after you asked him question but didn't answer. "huh?" he said looking at you. there his heart races again as he looks in your eyes. maybe its.. love? he wouldn't know. "I- lets go" niki said pulling you out the tent. "what? where?" you asked furrowing your eyebrows. "somewhere special I promise" niki said. you just followed him.

after walking some distance, you two finally reached the destination. you looked in aw as you two walked to the edge of the rooftop. the stars looked extra pretty in the black sky. the moon was shining brightly and was enough to emit light.

you let out a scream as niki pulled you your waist to him. your arms came to rest by his neck. "you look so pretty in the moonlight" he said observing your face. you blushed. "I hope you know I want to be there for your success. and for each step of the way until you get your success. I want to be the one who holds you when you cry, the one who motivates you to do even better. what I'm trying to say is I think I love you? I'm not sure, this whole feeling is new to me but I'm 80% sure its that." niki said as he smiled at you. you stood there in shock.

the thought of someone loving you was crazy. you didn't want to believe him but you knew he meant each word of what he said. everything felt surreal to you in that moment. him. the guy you were head over heels for. was in love with you? too good to be true.

"I- what?" you said as tears started to build up in your eyes. "I think- no I love you yln yn. with every part of my body and soul." niki said as he grabbed your cheeks and leaned in giving you a kiss of your forehead. you took a moment to process his words. "I love you too, so so much" you said smiling as the tears started rolling down your cheeks. niki leaned down to kiss you. this kiss wasn't like the others. this one held so much more passion and love. you pulled away and looked him while smiling. "gosh I can't believe you are in love with a loser like me" you said while laughing. niki wiped your tears and kissed your cheek again. "if your are loser, the what does that make me?" niki asked teasingly.

you held his hand while walking back to your dorms. "damn what a fucking rollercoaster we went through" you laughed. "I mean everyone does say love is not easy?" niki said as he looked at you. "they aren't wrong with that one. I'm just happy I ended up with you, even through all the hard times." you said sincerely. "I got so lucky with you my pretty girl." niki said while griping your hand tighter. "no me" you said as you both laughed together.

yknow AI art has ruined an entire genre of painting to me, i saw one of those smooth anime-realism pieces and immidiately thought ''ugh, AI art'' until i noticed it was posted by an established deviantart user 6 years ago. like ive never been a huge fan of that genre but it looks like a pretty difficult style to master and i feel bad for the artists who specialized in anime-realism only to have their entire market jacked by people typing keywords into midjourney.

One of many pieces of information rarely discussed that has stuck with me in studying the Holocaust in a literacy class is that people who survived the death camps often did not survive starvation. It is very difficult for a severely malnourished body to recover from starvation. A severely malnourished body will struggle to process food at all, and many people die in the process of “refeeding.” This is called refeeding syndrome for this reason. Reintroducing food can and often is fatal without careful, medical guidance.

Starvation is one of the most common and effective forms of genocide. What makes it effective is that past a certain point, even if aid has been delivered, it is not enough to save someone from death by starvation. What also makes it effective is that withholding food is viewed as a passive consequence of political turmoil rather than an intentional act of violence among a people. You will see more people die from starvation in genocides across history because it is an effective way to kill many people without the use of state resources.

The starvation of Gaza is intentional. The United States and Israel may gesture that they are delivering or allowing aid into Gaza, but in reality they are active participants in the starvation of Gaza by destroying medical infrastructure, limiting the amount of aid “allowed” in, and blocking aid trucks from entering. Throwing food into Gaza by airdrop at this point in the genocide will not be enough without medical infrastructure to refeed a severely malnourished population. Many will die anyways. Many have already.
