Going over tons of Webtoons I like!
Tumblr media
I feel like I haven't really talked about webtoons as much as I should even though there are quite a lot of them that I enjoy a lot, so I felt it would be nice to go over some of my favorites, what they're about, why I like them and maybe help others discover something they might like as well.
I won't be talking about Unordinary, Trapped, or Dreaming Freedom since I basically said everything I had to say in their own posts, so if you want to see how I feel about these series just follow the links.
(Also worth noting, when it comes to webtoons I'm usually more of a fan of those that focus on drama, so things like Tower of God or Lookism that focus more on battle, while fun series, aren't really amongst my favorites and are probably not gonna be on my list. I don't really go to webtoons for action, I go for seeing people dealing with personal problems and how they handle them.)
Tumblr media
This one is still fairly new but it's already got me very hooked. The premise is about a girl that is going through some money problems that finds out about the world of live-streaming and starts getting too into it.
The main conflict comes from how much of her own life and herself she exposes to the world and how she deals with the public while also trying to think about making enough money to take care of her family.
It can be very depressing but also very informative as it shows how ugly people's online behavior can be and how much they can affect someone's life.
Tumblr media
Speaking of depressing, this one is a series of stories about a rotating cast of protagonists who are all dealing with some very heavy personal problems while trying to advance their love lives.
One is trying to deal with the pressure of keeping up appearances at class, another is grieving over the loss of a loved one, another is trying to recover from a past of bullying, and so on... And each one feels real and earned. The way these topics are dealt with feel like how actual people would deal with them.
It doesn't just skip over to a happy ending, it walks you through the entire process of recovery necessary to get to them eventually feeling better, and when they do feel better it's always so very satisfying because you followed through all the hardships they endured.
It's a great series with a very-needed theme of "It gets better, so don't give up!"
Tumblr media
I think people are kinda mixed on this one? Some love it, some hate it, mostly it comes down to how they feel about the female lead.
The idea is that this girl is a victim from some sort of bug in the system of the god of love (or something like that, it's really weird...) and now she has a really hard time being romantically loved by others... So in order to fix that, she needs to raise her love score with the male leads or she will die... Also, her boyfriend cheated on her with her sister...
I just realized this sounds like the premise of a generic Otome isekai.
Needlessly convoluted premise aside, this series is actually really fun. The artwork and dialogue makes the female lead come off as really charming, expressive, and likable. Even if you don't care about the major plot with the love god thing (like me!), you still enjoy reading it because you do feel sorry for this girl and want to see her eventually find happiness.
It shows the power of a character's charm. When your character is likable enough, you can forgive how absurd and nonsensical a premise can be.
Tumblr media
I thought I was going to hate this series but the more I read it the more I liked it.
The premise is that a broken-up couple goes back in time to when they were young and still together, except one is in the body of the other.
This setup alone is freaking brilliant, so much so I'm shocked I haven't seen it before. You can do so much commentary about perspective, the way women and men are treated differently by society, the things we never think about in a relationship, the way your actions are viewed by others, and so on.
It frustrated me at first because the characters were making some really idiotic choices to the point it made me question what was this author doing, but as I kept reading, all of their choices get addressed. They either explain why they did what they did or recognize that they made a mistake and apologize for it, and I loooooove when series do that! If I see a problem in the story, why can't the characters see it too? Well, here they do, and it feels great every time they do!
Tumblr media
This one is the same as Operation True Love. I like how charming and expressive everyone here is, and I also like seeing these interpretations of Greek mythos.
I also really like the female lead, Persephone. I guess many people seem to dislike her but she never bothered me personally. I find her conflicts very interesting and how she deals with them is also interesting, mostly things like dealing with her trauma, the pressure from her mother, and the constant bureaucracy of the gods she needs to endure to get what she wants. She's not perfect, but I don't think she's meant to be.
The one thing I don't like is that since this is based on Greek mythos we have to go over all the stuff about the mythos we don't like but have to live with. For example, Zeus is here, and he is very unlikeable, but because he's Zeus from the mythos you know he's never gonna face any real consequences for being the huge jerk he is and we just gotta deal with it.
There are a couple things like this here and there where because it was in the mythos it has to be here and it gets a little frustrating sometimes, but not enough to ruin the experience.
Tumblr media
Lol... "Fantasy..."
This is one I wanted to bang my head against a wall for forgetting to include when talking about Trapped and Dreaming Freedom. It's another story about a thrillingly toxic co-dependent relationship between a group of messed up people.
The basic idea is that three ladies are in love, but not in love with the one that likes them, which makes this the ideal definition of "love triangle"
What's cool about this is that not one of them likes the other for a particularly healthy reason. There is a good girl that likes a bad girl because she's a bad girl, a bad girl that likes a loner girl because she's a loner, and a loner girl that likes the good girl because she's good.
They each have some sort of obsession with their "loved one" that boils down to "she needs me" or "I need her". It's like watching a Spanish telenovela, you know this is going to turn into a mess, but you can't wait to see it unfold.
(also, one of them is a vampire, but who cares about that...)
Tumblr media
This is another one that just has a brilliant premise. The idea is that this is a world of superheroes and this one girl has a crush on this one guy, but she's such a mess about telling her feelings that she somehow ends up becoming a supervillain for him to fight.
It's like if someone took that little segment from Rwby Chibi and made an entire series out of it. This series is so freaking funny and stupid, I just love it.
Tumblr media
Yoo's life sucks, that's the premise.
She got ditched by her mother, separated from her sister, is forced to take care of her dad alone, struggles with making friends, gets bullied, barely makes any money on her job, people hate her for no reason, and to top it all, she gets stuck in the middle of a rich family's drama that keeps trying to exploit her personal problems to their advantage.
This is one of those "Author, please leave the character alone!!" types of stories where you just keep enduring it because you like these people so much that you just want to reach the end where they'll finally be happy and free from all this misery.
Another case of where a character being charming and likable is enough to make you keep reading because you just want to see something good happening to them because you know they deserve it.
Tumblr media
Another case of "Just let them be happy!!"
This is a story about a woman who had to part ways with a family that she was really close with but now suddenly finds herself back into their lives.
I can't say too much about this one because it relies a lot on twists and revelations, but long story short, this is some really good drama.
Tumblr media
You ever felt like reading a retelling of The Little Mermaid set during the time when Korea was invaded by Japan? Well, your wish is now fulfilled!
This is a tragic story about a girl that gets tangled with a man she can never have during a period of war and how they struggle to remain close to each other even though everything around them is fighting to keep them apart.
Very sad, but very emotional.
Tumblr media
Speaking of sad...
This one is like Sohee0 where its about a girl dealing with the problems of live streaming her entire life for the world to see and slowly becoming too dependent on it.
I'm not a huge fan of thriller, but the themes this one tackles are so interesting that it made me keep reading anyway.
Keep in mind that this one does not have a happy ending.
Tumblr media
This is a series I feel is very underrated. It's about a boy that finds out that the girl he is chatting with on his phone is someone from his class, and he decides to use this new knowledge to help out her love life and other personal problems in return for always being nice to him online, even though she doesn't know who he really is.
There is some nice commentary about catfishing, stalking, the power of social media, communication, and entitlement in here.
There is a very powerful scene early on where the main lead confronts a stalker that's trying to claim he's in love with the girl from the chat and thus has the right to interfere in her life, and when the mc calls him out on that, he realizes he's basically doing the same thing. And, again, I love when a story isn't above calling out their lead characters on their mistakes.
Giving a character flaws is okay as long as you address it, and this series addresses tons of interesting flaws on various characters.
Tumblr media
Another story about the scary power of social media. This one is about a woman who rejected a guy in a reality show a few days before he died, and a group of people decided to use that to burn her online as if she was the ultimate monster, and the story is all about she bouncing back from that and getting revenge on everyone that did that to her.
Tumblr media
I don't even know how to describe this one... It's just good drama.
I was going to say it's about girls facing school problems, but the problems these characters face kinda go over every possible field.
It starts with the main lead feeling like she's the only ugly girl in her group of four friends, but we kinda ditch that premise after a while and just start to focus on any kind of problem a teenager might be going through.
I find the problems they tackle to be interesting and the characters going through them are all likable, and this isn't a case of "let them be happy!" they get to be happy a lot and very frequently. It isn't one problem that goes on through the whole series but a set of rotating small problems that get dealt with one after another in very nice ways.
Tumblr media
This one is a similar case of teens dealing with teen drama.
It starts with a boy finding out that the girl he likes is dating his sister (that's one hell of a way to start your series), and eventually becomes about people dealing with their emotions and inner insecurities.
Odd Girl Out was more about people dealing with the problems life throws at us, this is more about problems we throw at ourselves. How sometimes we don't know what we want, why we want it, how to get it, how to deal with it, and what does that say about us.
I'm just gonna repeat what I said before, I like how these problems are explored and I like how charming these characters are.
That's honestly all I ever need, people to care about and cool problems for them to face.
Tumblr media
This one is interesting.
It's about a woman who pretends to be married so she can date a guy who is into affairs. It's like a cheater's cheat.
It goes into detail about why someone would want to betray their partner and how society in Japan puts this pressure on people to pursue marriage and building a family as the ultimate source of happiness.
I always love this kind of talk, exploring how much of what you do you do it because people tell you it will be good for you and how much you do it because you really want it.
Tumblr media
This is one apparently a lot of people really don't like, and ironically, it's one of my favorites.
"Get Schooled" is a series that seems to start on the premise of "what if the teachers were allowed to beat up the bullies?" but once you keep reading it you see that it goes a little deeper than that.
The message I personally got from this one was "what if we had the means to actually answer back to those who do wrong?"
The thing about people who commit crimes is that we never have either the time, the means, or the exact words to address all that is wrong with their actions, we're just not always prepared for it. So in this story they just make a character that is always prepared.
Every bully in this series usually works with the mentality of "why can't I just do what's best for me?" and when the main lead appears and confronts them, he makes them realize that in a world where people only think about themselves, the moment someone stronger than you shows up, if they don't need you, you're screwed, that's why it's important to learn how to accept everyone, regardless of whether they're weak or strong.
It shows the futility of "might makes right" by showing that might can turn against you at any point, and thus it's better to create a society of "right makes right."
The conversations these characters have about morality are very interesting and give a lot to think about.
There is one arc is where they go to a daycare and find a teacher that's trying to control how kids should think, but the moment they start questioning their logic everything the teacher taught them starts to no longer make any sense and throws the class into chaos.
The kids were being taught what to think, but not the why, and once they realize they skipped this vital step, their lessons no longer held any meaning.
There is a lot of that, a lot of having bullies and oppressors facing the flaws in their own logic and addressing why it doesn't work, and it feels very satisfying each time.
Also has bullies getting beat up a lot, which also feels good.
(Edit, these were all feelings I had before learning about the recent events regarding Get Schooled 😓 I'm deeply sorry for having promoted a series that carried so much ill will inside of it)
==========
That's it for now, hope you can find something new you can enjoy!
And with that, now I wait for webtoon to officially translate the other Naver series that are still only available in Korean that I really want to read more of.

Does it count as fake dating if you’re actually dating the person but pretending to have an affair with them because your coworkers are nosy as hell and jumped to conclusions instead of putting 2 and 2 together?
Like you and Bakugou working in the same office and starting around the same time but different departments so when you talk about your partner, coworkers don’t have a face to put it to.
And the way both of you talk about domestic life paints a very different picture from how they know either of you to be. So when you’re leaving late one day and Bakugou is waiting outside for you everyone who saw you jumps to conclusions when you share a kiss before leaving together.
The next day you both get pulled aside and talked to about it separately and sharing the same senes of humor, you both go along with it then texted each other about what happened before agreeing it’d be hilarious to gaslight the office into believing you’re having an affair.

ezekiel's tomb in al kifl, iraq is believed by jews and muslims to house the body of the biblical prophet ezekiel, with shi'ites specifically believing the site has its roots on a shrine built by the prophet abraham. the tomb itself was built in the 7th century. today, it's a part of the al-nukhailah mosque complex, built by ilkhanate ruler abu sa'id bahadur khan in the 14th century.
until the mid-20th century, thousands of iraqi jews used to make pilgrimage to the tomb on passover. the rule of saddam hussein saw many of the jewish inscriptions covered in white paint or removed, but they've since been restored.

and they’re boyfriends
#oppenheimer#lawrenheimer#i just made that name up 💅 let’s get this ship sailing#IDK how to explain it but the CHEMISTRY they had#it was unbearable i felt like i was choking on air when they were close to each other#so good. literal art#wait sit down let me convince you to ship them!!#personally i shipped them from the first moment but the scene that is really precious for me is that one#when Izzy and Oppenheimer are sitting in the hallway and you see Lawrence walk in and then immediately leave when he sees them#cause like. you KNOW he came there to give a NEGATIVE ass review but then he saw Oppenheimer sitting there looking all defeated#and he just couldn’t do it#and i especially think of that scene in contrast to the discussion on Kitty’s testimony#since both of these scenes occur in the hallway some fake-deep analysis is necessary#it’s like 🤌🤌 Lawrence protected Oppenheimer with his silence the way Kitty protected him with her testimony#sort of a way to hold onto his morals while letting Oppenheimer go just out of sentimentalism#(my bad theory is that Lawrence was HURT by the knowledge of the affair w Ruth because it meant he wasn’t the only one 🤫)#(GOD i can just picture their relationship it would be so MESSY)#(Lawrence hopelessly in love. Oppenheimer being well aware and just using him for his body. Lawrence who can never refuse him anything.)#(wait did this turn into a foil for the relationship with Jean???? but with the roles reversed??????)#also?? irl Lawrence DID testify against Oppenheimer and ripped him to shreds (😭) so like. we know what movie!Lawrence protected him from#ohh and what i also find really interesting is the parallels with Kitty since off the top of my head there’s 2 more#the fact that Oppenheimer takes Lawrence to New Mexico as he did with Kitty later#and the fact that Lawrence encourages Oppenheimer to be ambitious and take the opportunity w the project#(and iirc it’s his words that finally convince Oppenheimer?)#anyway that was my dissertation on why you should ship them; if you aren’t convinced then i hope i’ve at least made you mad 😴

The Cardboard Box pt 2
Last time we had two severed ears from two different people, an old lady who probably wasn't a criminal mastermind, and a poorly addressed parcel. Lestrade still looked like a ferret and it was a blazing hot August.
“I am convinced, sir,” she said, “that this matter is a mistake, and that the parcel was never meant for me at all. I have said this several times to the gentlemen from Scotland Yard, but he simply laughs at me."
Okay Lestrade, I like you, but laughing at old ladies who have received human body parts in the post isn't cool. Especially not for having a perfectly reasonable opinion about the situation. I, too, if presented with a parcel of freshly severed ears would be rather insistent that they were sent to the wrong person. After I'd finished shouting profanity, washing my hands, and contacting every person I knew to make sure they still had both ears firmly attached to their heads.
I'd probably also be washing the floor, because there's no way I wouldn't have immediately dropped them on the floor.
Miss Cushing is very composed. But I suppose she is channelling her feelings into her anitmacassar in a productive manner. Good for her. Either that or she is involved. Honestly, her saying she's not involved does make me more suspicious of her, but as we have previously discussed, I am a naturally suspicious person.
Still, fingers crossed for pirates.
Tumblr media
“I think that it is more than probable—” He paused, and I was surprised, on glancing round to see that he was staring with singular intentness at the lady's profile. Surprise and satisfaction were both for an instant to be read upon his eager face, though when she glanced round to find out the cause of his silence he had become as demure as ever.
Oh, did he catch a microexpression? Is she involved? But I just don't see why she'd call the police and say she didn't know what was going on if she was, unless she's a lot more cunning or arrogant than most of the villains we have seen.
“Those are my sisters, Sarah and Mary.”
Ah, another Miss S. Cushing has entered the tale.
“And here at my elbow is another portrait, taken at Liverpool, of your younger sister, in the company of a man who appears to be a steward by his uniform."
Liverpool, renowned port city. Knots, tarred string, sunburnt ears and earrings. My sailor theory gains steam.
“No, the May Day, when last I heard. Jim came down here to see me once. That was before he broke the pledge; but afterwards he would always take drink when he was ashore, and a little drink would send him stark, staring mad. Ah! it was a bad day that ever he took a glass in his hand again. First he dropped me, then he quarrelled with Sarah, and now that Mary has stopped writing we don't know how things are going with them.”
I was going to ask what pledge, but this appears to be a temperance thing. And to get the family dynamics worked out in my head: Mary is the youngest, married to Jim Browner. and both members of the couple stopped talking to both Susan and Sarah, and now no one knows where they are.
Which gives us a sailor and his wife, both missing, and two ears that seem to have come from a man and woman (according to Holmes, I'm still not convinced he can tell, but for the conceit of the tale, let's say he's right) the 'male' ear being sunburnt and with a hole for an earring.
I'm sure there's absolutely no connection between these things.
Also, your sister's husband has a drinking problem that makes him 'stark, staring mad' and then he and your sister drop off the planet? That seems like a thing to be distinctly more concerned about. Miss Susan Cushing is losing sibling points rapidly.
She told us many details about her brother-in-law the steward, and then wandering off on the subject of her former lodgers, the medical students, she gave us a long account of their delinquencies, with their names and those of their hospitals.
Wow, she really doesn't want those medical students getting any patients, does she? I dread to think what Victorian medical students were like. But they probably weren't as bad as Victor Frankenstein. Although that would be a hilarious crossover. These ears were actually intended for him to work on his 'project' but he forgot to change the forwarding address. Only seventy years or so too late, but still.
“Ah! you don't know Sarah's temper or you would wonder no more. I tried it when I came to Croydon, and we kept on until about two months ago, when we had to part."
So you're saying the other Miss S Cushing also lived at this address until two months ago. So it's not even a case of mistaken identity, it's just that she forgot to send out change of address cards. Also, she has a temper. So my theory about pirates might be right? Although probably no illegitimate children. But it seems like Sarah might know what the ears mean. Whether she wants the couple dead or she's being threatened is a different question.
“Yes, and they were the best of friends at one time. Why, she went up there to live in order to be near them. And now she has no word hard enough for Jim Browner."
Oooh, family drama! Spill the tea, please. What did Jim Browner do? Did she find out he was having an affair? Is the second ear that of his lover?
Tumblr media
"Good-bye, and I am very sorry that you should have been troubled over a case with which, as you say, you have nothing whatever to do.”
Apart from the fact that one of the ears might belong to your little sister, but whatever, I guess.
"We must strike while the iron is hot."
Either the victims aren't dead or he's worried the murderer is going to get back on a ship and vanish into the briny mists. Given how often that has happened, he probably should be worried. Although it seems like if they do get on a ship to run away, karma will catch them pretty fast in the form of a terrible shipwreck.
I wonder what's in the telegram he's writing. To the docks? To Liverpool to ask about the May Day? To Lestrade?
I didn't mention before how weird the name May Day for a ship is. That's got to be confusing, hasn't it? How do you know if they're sending out a distress call or just saying their name? Terrible name for a ship. Who in earth calls their ship May Day?
A grave young gentleman in black, with a very shiny hat, appeared on the step.
Watson does like to comment on how shiny men's hats are. Can you see your face in it? Is he wearing a crown? But why is this man wearing a hat indoors in the first place? I thought that was impolite? Was he just on his way out? On his way in?
“Miss Sarah Cushing is extremely ill,” said he. “She has been suffering since yesterday from brain symptoms of great severity. As her medical adviser, I cannot possibly take the responsibility of allowing anyone to see her. I should recommend you to call again in ten days.” He drew on his gloves, closed the door, and marched off down the street.
On his way out, it seems. And another brain fever. But this one appears to be less severe, only eleven days in severity. Percy Phelps beats her hands down.
Were these brain symptoms possibly from learning of the dreadful fate of her sister and her brother-in-law? Is she being blackmailed? Did she try to blackmail someone else. Her sister Susan did say she liked to meddle. Or are these symptoms from a more malicious cause?
“I did not wish her to tell me anything. I only wanted to look at her."
Little bit of a creepy thing to say, but I'll allow it. I assume that he wanted to see if she was in distress at all, and she clearly is.
We had a pleasant little meal together, during which Holmes would talk about nothing but violins, narrating with great exultation how he had purchased his own Stradivarius, which was worth at least five hundred guineas, at a Jew broker's in Tottenham Court Road for fifty-five shillings.
OK, Maths time.
So 20 shillings in a pound, a guinea was 1 pound and 1 shilling. so 500 guineas was £500 plus 500 shillings, 500 shillings is £25, so 500 guineas is £525. The equivalent of almost £54,500. Fifty five shillings is £2.75 old money or roughly £284. So yes that is a bargain. Or another way of looking at it, Sherlock cheated that broker out of a hell of a lot of money.
It's weird how people have Sherlock as this single minded crime-solving machine, when in reality we've seen him on numerous occasions when there's nothing actively to be done on a case, enjoying his leisure time. He and Watson went to that concert in The Red-Headed League, he went to have tea in a nice little pub in The Naval Treaty. He actually seems to have quite a reasonable work life balance.
Here, he and Watson are having so much fun that they don't even get back to the case until sunset.
“That is the name,” he said. “You cannot effect an arrest until to-morrow night at the earliest. I should prefer that you do not mention my name at all in connection with the case, as I choose to be only associated with those crimes which present some difficulty in their solution."
Ow. That was a burn. Also, if that's the case, why is Watson publishing it? Seems a little rude.
"That he may be safely trusted to do, for although he is absolutely devoid of reason, he is as tenacious as a bulldog when he once understands what he has to do..."
At least he's not a ferret this time? Lestrade must love Watson's stories being published. I bet he finds little passages cut out and stuck on his door in Scotland Yard.
“It is fairly complete in essentials. We know who the author of the revolting business is, although one of the victims still escapes us. Of course, you have formed your own conclusions.” “I presume that this Jim Browner, the steward of a Liverpool boat, is the man whom you suspect?” “Oh! it is more than a suspicion.”
I was assuming he was one of the victims. But I suppose I should have put more credence in him being a terrible drunk. Did his wife have an affair? Is there an illegitimate child involved? Or did he just think his wife was having an affair.
Which means that there's another sailor caught up in all of this. So far no pirates, but I can still hope, right?
"We approached the case, you remember, with an absolutely blank mind, which is always an advantage. We had formed no theories."
I feel called out. 😅 ACD and Sherlock Holmes are reaching through time and reality to give me shade on jumping to conclusions based on vibes.
“The string was of the quality which is used by sail-makers aboard ship, and at once a whiff of the sea was perceptible in our investigation. When I observed that the knot was one which is popular with sailors, that the parcel had been posted at a port, and that the male ear was pierced for an earring which is so much more common among sailors than landsmen, I was quite certain that all the actors in the tragedy were to be found among our seafaring classes."
But this time I have actually put together the evidence. Though I feel like most knots are popular with sailors. Aren't they all good for different things? My grandma used to have a thing on her wall with all the different kinds of knots that were used on sailing ships.
“As a medical man, you are aware, Watson, that there is no part of the body which varies so much as the human ear. Each ear is as a rule quite distinctive and differs from all other ones."
Oh, he was looking at her ear. And it looked like the severed one.
I assume that ear similarities are hereditary, much like facial features are, that does make sense. They won't be identical, because we know earprints are unique, but I can accept they would be similar. Of course Holmes has written monographs on ears.
Very disappointed the tobacco doesn't seem to have come into things, though.
"And why should these proofs of the deed be sent to Miss Sarah Cushing? Probably because during her residence in Liverpool she had some hand in bringing about the events which led to the tragedy."
This is a really fucking dumb move on his part, though. Why send someone the evidence of your crime? Just weight the bodies down and throw them into the sea. By the time they come up again, no one will be able to recognise them and DNA isn't exactly known at this time.
Just... bad idea. Be better at committing crimes. This is just embarrassing.
"An unsuccessful lover might have killed Mr. and Mrs. Browner, and the male ear might have belonged to the husband. There were many grave objections to this theory, but it was conceivable. I therefore sent off a telegram to my friend Algar, of the Liverpool force..."
Alright, I don't feel foolish for thinking that the ear belonged to him, because strangely enough, I wasn't able to telegraph my friend in Liverpool to find out.
"If she had been willing to help justice she would probably have communicated with the police already."
What the fuck happened in Liverpool that she didn't want to see her sister's murderer arrested? What did she do? Poor Mary Browner had terrible sisters. They should be ashamed of themselves.
"When he arrives he will be met by the obtuse but resolute Lestrade, and I have no doubt that we shall have all our details filled in.”
This is a really sad story. Poor Mary Browner stuck in what seems to have been a very abusive relationship with an alcoholic. Her sisters just let her disappear, and she ended up dead with no one reporting her missing and the only person who knew not willing to tell anyone. Or, I suppose, we could charitably say that maybe the brain fever took hold of Sarah before she was able to communicate with anyone about it.
Just... kind of tragic all around.

Tfw you make a whole new love interest for Athy because you dislike both of the canon ones
#both of them have similar flaws at different levels#no hobbies#no interests#no meaningful relationships nor the desire for any outside of her#they care but only at surface level and dont care at a deeper empathetic level#like hey I like you but I actually don’t think I know what I like about you#and my care for you is explicitly more like I care for your attention#and I don’t really care about what you love#I only care about what you love if it affects you because if something happens to you your attention is also gone#I also don’t actually know that much about you#even though they’ve both spent different amounts of time with her#they don’t actually know nor understand Athy emotionally nor has Athy actually opened up about a lot of things#like the closest she’s opened up in her whole third life was to Jennette and that’s depressing#Ijekiel has seen a lot of her lonely and sad side but doesn’t know her internally or at a deeper level#Lucas has spent the most time with her but doesn’t understand her feelings completely at all nor does he understand her reasons and drive#nor does he really care about them as long as she’s alive#which applies to them both#also both would kinda suck politically and foreign affairs-wise speaking#Lucas would suck at foreign affairs because I physically cannot see him understanding or caring enough about others#he can fake kindness but he can’t fake understanding#and understanding is key for foreign affairs#Ijekiel would be better and his foreign Arlanta knowledge would help#but also#his social skills aren’t that much better than Lucas’#there are too many cons for both of them that could outweigh the pros#and plus the pros Athy can easily access as friends anyway#I am a strong advocate for single Empress Athy or marrying a completely different and qualified person she meets in adulthood#like what happened to the flowery boy and lone wolf or literally any other noble in Obelia that’s around her age#or even foreign nobles#syl tea

Special Affairs Team TEN (특수사건전담반 TEN) & TEN 2 Whump List
Tumblr media
Synopsis: "Special Affairs Team TEN" is a criminal investigation unit that tackles the most violent crimes in South Korea. These crimes usually have less than a 10% rate for arrests. They chase the most notorious killers who attempt to commit the perfect crimes.
Genre: Cop/Crime, Action, Mystery, Psychological
Whumpees: Park Min Ho played by Choi Woo Shik and Yeo Ji Hoon played by Joo Sang Wook
Note: if you're like me and you prefer serious crime dramas with minimal comedy and 0 romance, then this is the drama for you. It's very serious and nobody's fooling around. Not too terribly whumpy but oh man. Oh man. Was it all worth it for the last two episodes of s2. You gotta trust me on that one.
!!Spoilers Below!!
Warning!! Huge HUGE tw for gore, suicide, sexual abuse, and child molestation. The tone of the series is pretty dark, and the cases might be very disturbing for some. Stay safe everybody!
