I want to be one of those “Bi Buck is so important that I’m okay if we only get that & not Buddie” but I am just not that girl.

If we get Buck ending up with some random man (bc Tommy isn’t going to be around full time) as a consolation prize for Buddie, I am going to be PISSED.

I’m not saying that I need Buddie to happen right now, at all 🙅🏼‍♀️ I like the BuckTommy pairing, I want to see that fleshed out & see Buck get romanced and bumble his way through his first boyfriend, because that representation IS so important, and Buck deserves to have this time to grow & figure himself out (& also kiss Tommy again bc that one kiss was not enough for our boy, he looked hungry after Tommy pulled away lmfao.) Buck should be able to grow and develop his character without being dependent on one person. I think Buck's character arc from s1-s7 is my favorite part of the show, the way he grows and changes and learns more about himself with each season, I love it, I don't want that to stop.

Also, if you’ve read my other posts, I also think Eddie deserves to go through his sexuality and feelings realization arc. I’ve always HC Eddie as gay (and Demi, but I have no hope of seeing that on screen ever), which means he’s going to have a LOT to work though, and I think that he also deserves the time & space to work through his own crisis and grow as a person/character.

Having said that, we have spent YEARS falling in love with these characters and their relationship. They've spent the entirety of season 7 thus far further cementing that Buck, Eddie & Chris are a family, a unit that no partner will be able to compete with or replace parts of.

Those two have been through so much together, so many situations that have led to them understanding each other, knowing what the other needs and be able to predict and understand how they're going to act in certain situations, and you will be hard pressed to find two brand new characters better suited for Buck & Eddie than Eddie and Buck.

They've already started making the moves to make it possible (Bi!Buck is canon, holy shit!) by making Buck kiss a boy (!!!!) on screen. Any homophobic people that don't want to see that have already stopped watching the show. It's not like those viewers are going to stop watching it again if Buck & Eddie get together in the future.

At this point, putting all this work into these characters & this ship and NOT getting them together is a slap to the fan's face and I will throw a fit. I am so down for a slow burn, I'm in it with pining & confusion and not understanding why they're feeling this way or that and struggling before finally getting their happy ending, but I will never be able to get behind throwing yet more characters in between the family that is the Buckley-Diaz's.

Day wasn’t quite sure why he’d asked Mork to accompany him into the changing room. He was, after all, perfectly capable of dressing himself. He told himself it was because he was in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by unfamiliar people and unfamiliar sounds, but he knew that wasn’t entirely true. Mork could have provided him with emotional support just as easily through the thin fabric of the dressing room curtain. The truth was that it had been a long time since anyone had looked at his body with anything other than medical curiosity or pity. He had been desirable once. He wanted to know if he still was.

The changing room was so small that Day could feel the heat emanating from Mork’s body as he stood in front of him. He could even sense the older man’s nervousness as he shuffled from foot to foot. It reminded him of the day they had met when Mork stumbled unprepared into the interview room, unsuspecting of what awaited him inside. Like then, he was nervous and Day was not. Day found that he liked it.

He unbuttoned his shirt and shrugged out of it, his heartbeat loud in his ears. Mork had seen him in various states of undress before, but there was something so intimate about purposefully baring himself before him. About willingly letting himself be seen.

Before the accident, Day had been in the best shape of his life, and although he knew he was started to lose muscle tone, some of it remained. He couldn’t see it in the mirror, but he could feel it with his hands. He was still fit, still trim, and as Mork struggled to find a safe topic of conversation, Day realized that he saw it too.

“I’ve, uh, never been in a dressing room with someone else before,” Mork said.

Although Day was more accustomed to judging peoples’ interest in him by the look in their eyes, he found that there were other telltale signs of arousal. The broken cadence of a voice, the shaky touch of a hand. Mork was not uninterested. Day could tell because his usual acerbic tone had been diluted into something almost tame. It pleased him.

“And you think I have?”

Mork helped him into and then out of the T-shirt, his touch polite, and with each gentle brush of his hand, Day found himself getting addicted to the feel of another person’s skin on his because although Mork was treating him as if he were something fragile, it wasn’t the same fragility Day felt in his mother’s touch. Mork wasn’t worried that his touch might break him. Mork was worried that his touch might make him want more than he was allowed to have. It was a familiar phenomenon—one Day had felt often at parties and bars. If he was being honest, he hadn’t thought he would ever feel it again. 

So, as Mork began to painstakingly re-button Day’s uniform shirt, Day decided it wasn’t enough.

“Actually, I think I want to wear the other one,” he said. 

“Oh. Okay.” 

And so, for a few minutes longer, Mork’s touch lingered.

“Do I look good?” Day asked once the shirt was finally on. 

Mork let out a nervous laugh. “You do,” he said.

Day had been talking about more than the shirt, but that was okay. He didn’t need Mork to admit that he was attracted to him. He already knew.

why is pete wentz important to me?? like him, i was a non white kid who grew up in a very white neighborhood in the chicagoland area and it was exhausting and isolating and so so so lonely it could make your teeth hurt. like him, i’m bipolar and no one has ever quite gotten close to describing what my highs and lows are like, but he’s the only one who has gotten close. I mean it when I say that they’re literally the sole reason I watched this show in the first place. I saw a billion TikTok edits of them & was like “Idek these characters I need to watch this show and see what’s going on over there.”

And like, it’s a fun show, I’m not saying it isn’t, but first responder shows are a dime a dozen. There are other shows that have queer characters and found family and wild adventures. Granted, they don’t have Buck & his bi arc, but I’d still read fanfics to get my Evan Buckley fix lol.

I don’t need them right now, I’m so down for the slow burn, will-they-won’t-they & the pining & the yearning & the build up and the GOOD foundation. I want to see Eddie figuring himself out and dealing with his repression and figuring out he’s queer (& Demi, pls God. I hope if I just say it enough, I can will it into existence somehow) before anything happens with the two of them, but if they take definitive steps to have one of them like, marry someone else or something, I think I’m gonna head out. Find me on ao3 for the rest of my days lol.
