A friend and I had to write an essay for school entitled "The Best Book in the World" (For context, both him and me have left high school and been through University already, as is tradition in these dreams). We ended up finding a graphic novel called "The Best Meal in the World" which was about an anthropomorphic bear training to become a chef and make the eponymous Best Meal to impress his teacher. The book was awful, and that led us on a deep rabbit hole of just reading the worst books we could find, which were all graphic novels for some reason. Some highlights (lowlights?) included:
A book about a magician being investigated for animal abuse because of his signature trick where he juggles frogs,
A romance comic about two typical middle-aged football fans called, like, Gary and Barry, who realise they're gay and in love. It might have been touching, except it was a photocomic and all the photos had clearly been taken on someone's phone in the middle of an actual football game.
Something about a mouse working as a maid and struggling to perform her duties because she was a mouse and only a few inches high. She just complained all the time though, which did not make her endearing as a character.
My parents being shown around an old manor house which had been preserved as a museum. No plot, just a graphic novel which was a museum tour and starred my parents for some reason.
Headcanon that cas does not understand human pet-names in the slightest. Sure he knows about ‘darling’, ‘honey’, ‘sugar’, but he doesn’t understand why those words are chosen specifically. One day, Dean and Cas are in the kitchen, Dean’s making dinner and Cas is watching him, and Dean’s like, “Hey Cas, can you pass me the rice?” And Cas, wanting to impress Dean with his knowledge of human interaction/emotion, responds with “of course, Milk.”
We are so lucky there are no visuals in Malevolent because if I laid my eyes on Arthur with his sleeves rolled up drenched head to toe in blood baring his teeth a demon of chaos manipulating his every decision all while he degrades the shit out of a confirmed killer, I'd drop to my god damn knees on the spot idk what to tell you
Imagine you and Neuvillette had a baby, and for the safety of your child, the public does not know of your relationship. Imagine you still often end up in meetings together along with many other coworkers. Imagine one day after a meeting as most of your coworkers and Neuvillette are still hanging around and sharing pleasantries as you collect your baby from whoever was watching them during the meeting. Imagine being in conversation with someone while holding your baby and your coworker pulls out a smoke, and not giving a shit about the health of your baby. Not smoking because of your child didn't even cross his mind. He goes to light his cigarette and before you even get the chance to scold him, Neuvillette pulls himself away from his separate conversation to grab your coworkers wrist a bit too tightly. "Are you really so self indulgent to smoke around an infant?!" His tone a tad too aggressive. The man before you stutters and stares open mouth at the Iudex. Everyone quieted their conversations to eye the scene. Your coworker turns to you with a red face and says, "archonsabovepleaseforgiveme I wasn't paying attention blahblahblah." Neuvillette releases his arm and with an authoritive voice dismissed the man. Neuvillette only spared you a quick glance with all of the people watching, before he walked back to his previous conversation. Everyone walked away that evening thinking that the Iudex was fiercely protective of children, and while this was true, none of your coworkers knew that the smoker had threatened the health of the Iudex's own child.
Bonus:
Once you two got home, Neuvillette much later than you, Neuvillette spent an hour walking around while holding the baby and talking about how absurd your coworker was.
Okay so long story short, my love for pigeons reignited over the last few days and I drew only pigeons for like a week to the concern of everybody who saw me enter that state of mind.
The first three are drawn based few different pigeon shots I found, the two after that are referenced from my weirdly pixelated vacation pics and the last one is so high quality because my bestie @wilczuuu let me use one of their gorgeous photos for reference.
Also just for fun I filmed the last one as a timelapse to see that that would look like
I struggle a lot with bird anatomy and while these drawing made me get a firmer grip on that, I'm still super confused about that. So if anyone has some experience with drawing birds and would like to share some tips I would be very thankful.
22 year old Gotham University student Danny finds a Damien clone whose near death and saves his life, offering to let the kid stay with him in his crappy apartment. The clone accepts, thinking Danny seems like a tolerable chump to bide his time with as he builds his strength for another fight with his progenitor for his rightful place as heir to Batman. Danny absolutely 100% knows the kid’s a clone and that taps right into his childhood trauma, making him want to protect him all the more. (Up to you if Dani is alive but in my version she’s not). Over time, Clone!Damien becomes begrudgingly fond of his new caretaker, especially after Danny starts taking him on Doctor Who style adventures through time/space and the tamer parts of the GZ (there are none) as part of his efforts to build up the kid’s confidence (outside his overcompensating ego) and help him learn to grow into his own person.
Bonus!
Danny and Clone!Damien are the downstairs neighbors to none other than Jason Peters (aka Jason Todd). They both clock him as Red Hood pretty quickly, but it takes much longer for them to connect him to the Waynes, so he’s kinda just their marginally more normal neighbor who happens to be a crime lord and who, for some reason, tends to check up on them a lot. (Originally this was because RH thought Danny might be an upcoming villain, then because he didn’t understand how Danny was alive, and then Clone!Damien moved in and he started checking to make sure that he didn’t murder Danny in his sleep). Luckily, Jason is a fantastic cook, so they are both grateful (to varying degrees) for his nosiness. (Is this a Dead on Main situation, are they just good friends? Who’s to say? You. Or me. But probably you.)

athena, scowling as she gets bullied into marrying the people she pined over for the last 1000 years, suddenly realising something: wait a minute

athena, grabbing the marriage wine and tossing it back, then kissing her new wife and husband and handing penelope a spear as she picks up a mace: we'll be back shortly, you can start celebrations without us.
penelope: do u have anything that can start a fire
athena, pulling out an old contract and scanning it before throwing it over her shoulder: yes. are you scared of heights or can we fly.
penelope: fucking bring it I've waited years for this moment
zeus: where are they going

Okay but Tommy drops out of high school — he told his father he was gay and he told him he could either be homeless or go to military school. He goes to military school and joins the army and he likes flying the helicopters because it means he doesn’t have to do any of the killing himself. And he makes some friends.
There's one guy who's like the squad leader who's a few years old and built like a Greek god and Tommy's young and a little bit in love. And they're friends maybe even family because this whole group of people spend every waking (and sleeping) moment together. And they all talk like a family and they all say they love each other and tease each other and it's nice. And one night it's just the two of them trading a flask of some sort of alcohol that Tommy doesn't know the name of and the man asks Tommy why he joined the army and where he wants to be in five years and Tommy trusts this man. He's half way in love with him so he doesn't even think twice before he tells the story about the time he came out to his family and his father nearly beat him to death before sending him here. And the conversation tapers off after that and he doesn’t register the change in the air but when he wakes up the next morning he’s being dishonourably discharged because he poses “unacceptable risk to the high standards of morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion that are the essence of military capability”. He knows what that means.
Tommy joins the fire department because he doesn’t know what else to do. He represses anything regarding his sexuality because he knows now that it’s wrong. He almost feels like he has a family again because his captain seems to like him and some of the guys are cool even if they say things he doesn’t agree with. And then he starts agreeing because maybe they’re right and he’s wrong and he’s just inherently wrong. So he follows their leads and is just straight racist because that’s how he can fit in.
And then a black lesbian woman joins and says she’s a black lesbian woman and Tommy doesn’t understand that either because you can’t be queer you just can’t be because it’s wrong.
But he nearly dies and and an Asian man saves his life and a black lesbian woman comes up with a better idea than any of them had and she tells them she’s no different and she is just as capable. So he improves himself he does and he tries to be better but he still can’t be who he is because the last 2 times he was honest about that he was betrayed.
Tommy leaves the 118 and “don’t ask, don’t tell” is lifted and he meets this guy he likes who likes him back and the 217 don’t seem to have a problem with the gender neutral pronouns and he slowly but surely lets himself open up again and be who he is and when the thing with that guy doesn’t work out because he’s moving to New York and Tommy’s not sure he’s ready to leave, it’s okay because his crew is there and they support him and he can still be himself.
