Okay, so here’s the fic masterpost I’ve been meaning to make for ages. Most things I write, I don’t ever name. So I’ll make do with descriptions. The list is in chronological order of me posting these on tumblr.  

1. [The Sandman]- Dream x You HELLA NSFW (minors away!) fic. I mean it- the NSFW is the plot. One day I randomly thought ‘You know what I wanna write? A little teasing-type post about kissing Morpheus.’ Then I actually started writing it, and one thing led to another, and long story short here are the links to the three-parts, completed. You’ll see for yourself. Part 1. Part 2. Part 3. 

2.  [The Sandman]- AU!Dream x You, lil dark fantasy. Finished. 

3.  [The Sandman]- Dream x You, being with Morpheus, prompted by Midnights (Taylor Swift) tracklist. Had the idea for it when Midnights came out. It was supposed to be 13 little snippets: some fluff, some angst, and just Morpheus-love overall. Well, I got to track 5 before getting distracted by some completely different idea and abandoning this. :( In that sense, it is unfinished. But on the other hand, since each track name is its own little story, it now exists as a set of five completed snippets. Tracks 1- 4. Track 5.

4. [Sweetbitter]- 59 Hours, Jake x You. (Yep, I actually wrote Sweetbitter/Jake fanfic and yep, this one actually has a name). I have this up on ao3 and this is the summary I wrote for it there:  “When a sudden blizzard in NYC ruins havoc on everything including your plans, a stranger offers you shelter in their apartment. You don't know yet, but you two are going to be stuck there together for 59 hours- knowing and learning each other, doing things you couldn't imagine with anyone else, being something for each other in a way that feels too fast, too confusing, too reckless. How do you say goodbye to this, and yet, how do you hold onto something so fragile?” Sort of a Good Girl x Bad Boy thing. Angst, smut, feels. Six chapters. Complete. TW: Drugs, mention of s**cide. 

Two things. One: I’ve had multiple people tell me that they never actually watched Sweetbitter, but loved this. So, if you haven’t watched the show, don’t let that be the thing that stops you if you’re otherwise interested. With all its B flaws and despite me not actually being a fan of the show, this is one of my most favorite things I’ve ever written. And two: HELLA NSFW WARNING!!!!!

Now, you’d think as a writer I’d have a better hold of things like potential story length, overall finish timeline, etc., but nope. Not at all, I am ashamed to say. This story became a behemoth, and really it’s way too much for tumblr. But I also can’t not write when there’s good material in my head just begging to be let out. So what I have now is some very long chapters and a promise of the last one. I will say there’s stuff in this dark story that I really, really love, so maybe it won’t disappoint you either if you’re actually willing to invest time reading it. TW: Graphic violence, sexual assault, r*pe, child abuse.

That is it, actually. I either write nothing or way too much- much like most everything else I do, but unlike most everything else I do, I can tell you that writing actually makes me feel like I know what I’m doing. When I write- be it original work or fanfic- I know my place in the world. That’s something, isn’t it?

So just a little about me! (Updated!)

- I am a collegiate female (nonbinary) runner and hoping to someday be a coach!

- I have been running for 9 years!

- Senior in college, English Major 📚

- favorite running shoes: Saucony endorphin speed 2! Spikes: Nike Dragonfly XC, (super shoes dragonflies as well)

- highest mileage peak during track was 70 miles 🤯🤯🤯, most weeks were about 65-68 tho. Probably getting up to 75 this summer and fall 🥴, my longest long run is still from cross in 2023 tho and was 14.42 :))

- highest mileage peak in cc preseason 2023: 61 miles!!, typical load for the season was about 59-65, During post szn’ I had some weeks at 65 and a few a little below and am at about 60 right now, highest mileage during cc 2023 peak: 65, typically 60-65

- highest mileage track 2023 peak: 58, typically 47-53

- highest mileage peak cc 2022: 52 miles, typical load 40-49

- mileage 2021 cc peak: 41, typically 35-39

- mileage track 2022 peak: 45, typically 39-43

- mileage !goal! peak for track 2023: 55! Mostly 45-53

- mileage goal reached!! I got up to 58 mpw!

- PRs (updated) (you can ignore this, but just to give an idea of the level that I am competing at to understand where I might come from when talking about different runners or books or training!!) (from track freshman and sophomore years): 5k: 16:30, 10k: 34:34, 1500m: 4:41 *1500 from freshman year*. (Ran during summer preseason workouts): 3k: 9:43, 5k (somehow during a fartlek): 17:08, workout paces: easy run: 6:35-7:15, tempo: high 5s and low 6s, 1k interval: 3:12, 1k repeat: 3:03-07

~ Update on: goals that seem reasonable for track this year based off workouts this past cross season!:

~ By the end of this past track season (2024) I was in shape to run around 16:15 5k and 34:20 or lower 10k and if I focused on the 1500 for a few weeks probably around a 4:22 or so. Was in great shape by the end of the season but didn’t perform as well as I would have liked at nationals.

~ By the end of track season 2023 I was most likely in shape to run 4:50s or faster pace (mile pace) for a 1500, for the 5k I was in shape to run in about 16:30s but I was focusing on the 10k and only ran it once at the beginning of outdoor! 3k I’m not sure what shape I was in but probably somewhere between 9:30s-50 but I never got to run it this year. For 10k I was in shape to run 34:40s or a little faster but I did not race well when running it again at the end of the season. I also did fall on a rock right before indoor conference and had to sit a week out and that negatively impacted all of my running and times for awhile. (I had to get stitches on my kneecap but nothing was damaged outside of needing stitches!)

~ I also had transferred in the spring semester and am loving my new school, team, and coaches!

~ As far as cross country, my team just made nationals and I ran a new PR in the 20:40s ish! (6k)

60. Left 4 Dead 2

Left 4 Dead 2 is the better of the two because all of L4D1 is in L4D2. And it's FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC to play with friends (or bots), just do a whole campaign with 3 of your friends shooting zombies, trying to get through to each safe house, getting picked up at the end, it's a great time.

59. XCOM: Enemy Unknown

The game that really got me into the X-COM/XCOM series. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is Firaxis's first take on the alien strategy game, and refines it so you get a nice streamlined experience, and repopularized the genre. Even with its sequel choosing to go with the bad end, the good end is fun to get to.

58. Theme Hospital

I love Theme Hospital more than Theme Park. I don't know why, the theme of health care can be very dry. But Theme Hospital makes it funny with Bloaty Head, King Complex, Hairyitis, and Invisibility illnesses. It's a little less hardcore than Theme Park, but that makes it better, in my opinion.

57. Two Point Hospital

Not to say that the formula couldn't be improved. Two Point Hospital is everything Theme Hospital is, but better. Better room design capabilities, better way of hiring staff, better training of staff, sillier illnesses, easier to get into, more experimentation with levels, just everything's better. I freaking love Two Point Hospital.

56. Two Point Campus

Not to say it couldn't be refined further. Two Point Campus replaced the health care theme with a university/college theme and adds the ability to build your own buildings instead of having pre-built plots to build within. The new theme allows them to go even zanier, and it's worth it to three-star each university. I love Two Point Campus.

55. The Sims 2

The Sims 2 is my favorite of the The Sims series, adding aspirations, wants, fears, and giving the game a great feel. Adding the life stages, and making Sims age was a great addition to the series, and it's all-in-all a better experience than The Sims 1.

54. Baldur's Gate 2

Baldur's Gate was a great RPG when it came out, but Baldur's Gate 2 was better. It had a great main villain, a compelling story, and a great group of characters that are memorable, especially Minsc and his miniature space hamster, Boo.

53. Borderlands 2

Yes, yes, I know, its humor can feel dated now, but Borderlands 2 is still a blast to play through if you get a group of friends together to do so. Handsome Jack is a fantastic villain, and the guns feel great to use. Well, maybe not Hyperion if you're concerned about accuracy. Anyway, the Vault Hunters all feel unique, and it's fun to play as any of them.

52. FlatOut 2

FlatOut 2 is a great racing game with stunts and realistic damage. Its AI isn't too bad either, I don't feel like they're rubberbanding when I race against them. The tracks are all distinct and feel good to race on. The stunt mode is also great, trying to fling your avatar into specific places.

51. Rise of the Triad

Ah, good ol' Rise of the Triad, the progenitor of Ludicrous Gibs. It's not bad, being built on a heavily-modified Wolfenstein 3D engine that allowed height. Its ridiculousness helped it stand out among the so-called “DOOM clones,” what with powerups and powerdowns such as God Mode, Dog Mode, Shrooms Mode, and Elasto Mode. Really looking forward to the Ludicrous Edition.

i have been up since like 5am let me talk about loossemble

Intro - very excellent, very cinematic and orchestral. unlike previous loona intros where the intro only served as an introduction to the title/lead single, it set up themes & feelings to expect to this album. it reminds me a bit of 12:00's intro with a dash of 1/3 strings & overall loona's initial magical girl + idol theme in ++. this is their new beginning after all so i think it's excellent. should have been at least a minute though like only 42 seconds of audio goodness... what the... good way to start off though

Sensitive - a very safe and standard kpop track. has your sing-talking, an ear-worm & catchy phrases, and a simple beat. i can understand why they'd play it safe. there's early-loona elements at around ~1:59, it reminds me of how spacious favOrite is in sections and even in 12:00 with why not which had a spacious moment in its bridge so i appreciated that. these are the members who never really got to shine so i'm glad they get an opportunity here. all 5 of them mesh very well together. the yeojin + hyunjin moment towards the end was really nice. in terms of the song, i wish they got to experiment or have fun a little more, i don't really like how it just goes back into the chorus with little change and they end it off there but i get it. an okay track for me

Real World - early red velvet sound which i kinda like. with the sample they used, i liked it and i wish they could have done something a little more in this song. it's very kpop-like with it's verses and choruses. it definitely reminds me of 2015 kpop but a little more elevated with the production here. it's an easy listen and a good song.

Colouring - i really like the chorus, i don't think i'm a huge fan of the song over all. bridge is good and ending is really really good though. i think my favorite thing here is their voices and hearing all the layers of their voices when they sing together and all their individual lines.

Newtopia - very spacey which i like. it's a fun synthpop song. it feels very dynamic with it's sections. i think this actually might be one of my favorites like? HRJGHJFG like yaaay i love good synthpop and it does feel very idol-like with some of the sing-talking and some of the melodies in general reminds me of 2010's jpop + kpop too. also i'm glad this is a 3:35 song like i cheered...

Strawberry Soda - okay this song also needed to be as long as newtopia like WHAT THE... very sugary very fun, i feel the same as before. another favorite off this EP, it's bouncy, it's pop, it's idol-like. i really like this track. i think if anything i wish it was dynamic like newtopia and was longer too but a good song anyways.

Day by Day - good way to close the EP, has elements of their past while mixing in parts that would appeal to like... a new audience and general public i guess. has some good idol parts to it as well. it's a good closer because it leaves me feeling like okay what's next (especially after that music video with the ending there, like whoa) and i do look forward to what's in store for Loossemble and for everyone in LOONA. they sound so nice and great on this track.

SO.... i feel a lot of intention with this EP, considering the standard for kpop EPs is literally just lead single, bunch of bsides that have nothing to do with the single, cheesy song to close it out, and that's it. and it's usually like a 6 song project LOL.

i really like how they're referencing the past in a smart way. they've elevated their identity and formed something new as a result. i've been talking about how the sound is very spacious and my examples i've mentioned are favOrite (1:15-1:36), Why Not's bridge, and i think you could say the entirety of Playback off of the Flip That album lol. that theme & identity is something i've always associated with loona, after all, they are the Girls of the Moon, so being able to express the concepts of magical girls, idols, the Moon itself, and Space in an auditory form was always a pleasure to experience with LOONA. finding that here with this EP makes me very happy

these girls are idols and i know it's an idol industry, so maybe i should adjust expectations, but i ask that their team gets creative and just with this album, i can see that's what they want, i see & hear the vision with loossemble. i hope they keep it up, i hope the girls, staff, & people they collaborate with are paid and that everyone is in a good working environment.

anyways to summarize my thoughts, a cohesive project, a good & fresh beginning, i hope they get experimental in the future. i wish nothing but the best for everybody in LOONA. thanks if you read this

⛤ First and Foremost, Happy 32nd birthday to the album that literally changed my life two years ago!!! This album has definitely had lots of influence on my music taste, and social interactions. I know this might sound really silly but honestly every song and every lyric on this album really makes me think about my life and how I would like to live it.

⛤ From power ballads like “This Love” and “Hollow” to beautiful dime solos in “Regular People (Conceit)” and their most popular track off the album “Walk”. Let’s be real, what’s not to like about the album.

⛤ Fun Fact: the title of Pantera's 1992 album "Vulgar Display of Power" was inspired by a line in "The Exorcist". When Father Karras asks Regan why she can't make the straps restraining her disappear if she's supposedly the devil, she replies,

"That's much too vulgar a display of power, Karras."

Alex Karras was Webster's dad in the hit TV show Webster which Pantera was a huge fan of. Karras was a professional football player for the Detroit Lions and was known for his vulgar display of power. Pantera loved the symmetry and that's why they loved the TV show Webster.

⛤ I’m a band kid and musician who’s an absolute sucker for power ballads and power metal so you better believe that my top tracks off of this album are “This Love” and “Hollow”. I relate to “This Love” because it made me realize that there is so many different dynamics of love and it is completely valid to be mad at it when it doesn’t turn out the way you thought it would. “Hollow” on the other hand might not resonate with others but after I went through a similar situation in my life a couple months ago, I knew it was always gonna be a favorite.

⛤ Musicianship, Emotion, Lyricism, Individuality, Brutality, and Dedication. This was a recipe for greatness which Pantera fell nothing short of with the success of their sixth studio album “Vulgar Display of Power”. It’s always so amazing to know that there is always different directions that a specific band can take throughout their career growth; here is where the bands raw emotions reveals a new sense of vulnerability contrasting to their moody rock sound in previous work. Some may say that different isn’t always good, then there’s bands like Pantera that go above and beyond to kill those laws of nature.

Life's too short.

Woke up early for my Sunday morning run, 5:30a. First long run of my 12-week half-marathon training program. The next 10 Sundays will all be longer.

Make coffee, use the bathroom, weigh-in. Somehow I'm 5 lb. heavier than I was on the first of the month. Darn. I have been overdoing it on the cheese. On the other hand, on that particular day I weighed in pre-lunch after sweating in the sun. So maybe it's not that bad.

Do Wordle, do Connections, coffee is ready. Lounge on the family room sectional, sipping coffee. Start to go through the rest of my normal routines. Already made my running playlist last night, a few songs from my favorite The xx album, then the entire Romy album which I listened to for the first time on Friday, then "Gosh" by Jamie xx. 59 minutes, perfect length for a 6-mile training run.

Open my computer, update my tracking sheet, only thing left to track is sleep. Mark "1" because I had to wake up in the middle of the night to pee. Blame it on the late dinner. Didn't finish until 9p, I like to finish by 8p at the latest, preferably earlier.

Ate dinner late yesterday due to a miscommunication we had. Asked her if she wanted to go out. There was food in the fridge for the kids, and they'd be happy to spend the evening at home playing video games and watching YouTube. She couldn't think of anything she wanted. We went back and forth for a while, and it seemed to me she was on the precipice of accepting one of my restaurant ideas but always stopped short.

And then for the next 2 hours there was a series of phone calls she made or received, I don't know for sure. I halfheartedly tried to get her attention but no success. Finally at 8p she was free and figured I'd already ate. I said I was waiting for her. She asked why. I'm like, would you have just eaten dinner without me on Saturday while I was on the phone?

She said fine, let's go out. We got in the car. Started to drive. Want do you want? Not that hungry she said, maybe she won't eat. Huh? How about the Greek place, I said. Sure, she said. We started to have an actual conversation about her work stuff. Feels normal. It's been a normal Saturday, things are fine. Pull into a parking spot. Are you just going to get takeout she asks, can I just wait in the car? I'm like, what? I don't want takeout that bad. Let's go somewhere else. She doesn't want to go anywhere she concedes.

In fairness to her, I've been obnoxious about dinner recently because we haven't been drinking alcohol. That is, I've been making every dinner out into a referendum on drinking. Analyzing, complaining, etc. So she admitted she wasn't really interested in having dinner with me lately. I drove us home, heated up some leftovers for myself and we didn't talk the rest of the night.

Watching YouTube while sipping my coffee in the morning, trying to wake up and prepare myself to run. Figured I should get off the couch around 6:30 or 6:45 to beat the mid-September Central Florida heat, but it was just before 7 and I was still watching Sopranos clips. She woke up and poured herself a cup of coffee. Great, I thought, I'm going to get up right when she sits down and she'll think I'm avoiding her, which I'm not. But instead she avoided me by taking her coffee and sitting outside.

So I did get up. Brushed my teeth, washed my face, got my running gear on, opened the slider to the back patio slightly, told her I was going to run, love ya. Love ya too.

A few miles in, Romy transported me to another place. The sound of her new album reminded me of Ibiza. Simpler times. Happier times. Well, now that I think about it, I remember we fought there too. I think it was about me staying out too late the first night and ruining the first beach day. But I wasn't thinking about that on my run. Just the warm sun, the cold Mediterranean water, the dance clubs, the music.

Romy sings to presumably her partner about not needing to be so strong. It makes me want to communicate more clearly that although I seem like I have it all together, I don't. But I need to be strong for her and the kids. I want to believe she'd welcome me being vulnerable with her, but that doesn't always go so well. Usually it's in money conversations that I express vulnerability. But I think she interprets it as accusations and she feels guilty about her spending. Maybe if I was vulnerable about life and happiness it'd go better?

Romy sings about advice she receives to enjoy your life. That what's our life has been missing, joy. Too much of a slog lately. I come back from my run inspired to talk to her. After I get out of the shower I sit next to her in silence as she watches Say Yes to the Dress and I reread my notes on the Courage to be Disliked. After a few minutes she gets up, turns off the TV and leaves the room. I keep reading. All problems are interpersonal problems, discard other people's tasks, seek community feeling.

I decide to to tell her I'll join her and dad at BW3 to watch football after church. They had planned to go watch the Bengals. That's another sore subject. It's annoying she cheers for the Bengals. But maybe I should chill out and accept it. I mean, I should have a long time ago. The Steelers will be on TV too, and we could all watch the games. I could drink beer again, life's too short.

But my conversation doesn't go like it did in my head. She says I probably shouldn't go because she's going to watch the Bengals and it's a bar. And I sort of dropped it.

We drive separately to church because our daughter needs dropped off at a friend's after. So I leave 15 minutes early with my oldest son to practice his driving in the elementary school parking lot that's on the way to the church. My son and I get to church first. She shows up a few minutes later in a Bengals T-shirt and earrings.

Church opens with a testimonial about joy. I start to reflect about how have I arrived at a place in my life where I will be spending Sunday morning with my family at church, but then skip watching football and drinking beer. That would be the opposite of joy. I want my life to be the new Romy album not the new Spanish Love Songs album.

So I rehearse a redo of the conversation I had earlier with her. I will listen and hopefully end up in a place where I say I'll drop our daughter off then meet everyone else at BW3. But it doesn't go that way. My oldest says he's so excited for B-Dubs. He'll ride with me. I say I'm taking our daughter to her friend's. He said that's OK. I say I might not be going to B-Dubs. I ask her if the boys will ride with her. She says whatever. They do. My daughter and I go our separate way. Conversation was over before it started.

I drop my daughter off. Think for a moment of just going to B Dubs, ordering a beer and sitting at the table with them. But I chicken out. Decide I'll grab myself a healthy lunch at Bolay then go Publix to get stuff to cook for dinner tonight and tomorrow. Might as well do something useful while I've gotten myself into this quagmire.

In line at Bolay, after the sweet potato noodles and kale salad are already in my bowl, and I am waiting to give them my vegetable selections, she texts me and asks me if I'm coming and need a seat. I said no thanks, I will get lunch on my own. She said she missed me. I said I missed her too.

Listening to Ryen Russillo's podcast driving from Bolay to Publix. He's recounting his trip to Europe last month--Barcelona and Ibiza--coincidental timing to my thoughts from the Romy album. I am picturing myself doing this solo traveling. Lots of eating dinner at the bar. It sounds fun but I'd want a drink. It was at this precise moment that I locked in on life being too short, and not drinking was creating more problems in my life than drinking was.

I have stopped looking forward to things. Not just tangible things like a dinner out or a weekend away, but also hypothetical things, like I couldn't picture a hypothetical trip to Mallorca without relaxing at the end of the evening with a nice meal with a nice drink. So much of life is just our internal thoughts and daydreams, and I am having a hard time envisioning future good times because I picture myself actively avoiding drinking, ruining the good times. Even when I drive by hole-in-the-wall local restaurants, thinking maybe we should explore that place, then I picture ordering ice water and the fun thought goes away. Life's too short, I should let myself have a drink every once in a while.

Maybe I will fail by reintroducing alcohol due to my all or nothing personality. That is, I say I want to be able to drink when situationally relevant, but that leads to 3 beers at home on a Tuesday. But I have to try, because I am being a miserable person. And I can watch all the online content creators that gave up drinking and they're probably right, but they replaced it with other things in life. I would like to replace it with hiking and biking and kayaking. But she is not interested in that. She is interested in date nights on Park Ave and weekends at the beach and vacations in Europe. And I'm interested in those things too. But she is OK with those things without alcohol, and I am interested in those things if I can have a couple beers with dinner.

She texts me again and ask where I am. I tell her Publix, getting something to grill for dinner. She says OK. I tell her maybe I will stop by for the second half if the Steelers can score a few points, per the ESPN app on my phone, they're down 20-0 at this point. I add "lol" to the end of my text message response. Steelers snag a TD right before the end of the first half on my way home. I drop the groceries off and head to B-Dubs to watch the second half.

By time I arrive, the second half has already started and the Steelers have already given up another TD. She's in a booth, with her dad and stepmom all in Bengals gear. My boys are there too. Youngest playing on his phone, oldest engaged with the Steelers game but frustrated in lighthearted way. The Bengals aren't playing well either. They'd end up losing by 21, the Steelers by 23. Before that, while her stepmom wondering aloud if she should complain to the waitress about the $2 upcharge for celery that she wasn't aware of, and I introduce her to the concept of "charge it to the game" which I don't think she understands.

While they still talking about the bill, I get up, head to the bar and order a Heineken draft. I come back to the table and say "life's too short" probably more under my breath than actually out loud, and drink the beer.

Who is this girl writing about her music in May when were 9 days in June already… It’s been chaotic Tumblr, and I’m not even sure if anyone takes the time to read this but nevertheless I’m here to share about my life, and about the music that resonates with me.
