#their relationship opens up with blue telling red that he's not gonna be lied to
hahanoiwont · 2 years
Note
I would like to take a moment to point out that uh. It sure takes a Kind Of Person to put up with Red in the way Blue does. Like Frisk gets a pass for being 12 and also bc Red seemed to make an effort to keep his damage unoticable to them but Blue really is getting the full view. Like....is *Blue* good he seems to be completely ignoring every red flag that is being waved directly in his face
haha yeah ! blue is actually so normal. he's so so so normal and fine and sane. he just helps red out because he's an angel like that :)
...nah, their relationship is a bit more complex than it seems on the outset. Blue's involvement with Red begs the question of what intent has to do with altruism, because his relationship with Red is gratifying to him partially because it reassures him that he's a good person. Blue has the sort of almost cowardice (I feel like that's the wrong word but it's close enough) that all Sanses do. He just cut and ran after his Gaster's disappearance. He's been trying to make up for it ever since. He wants to save someone, he wants someone in need to come to him and trust him and make him feel like he's "good enough" to "save" someone. When he met Frisk, he thought it would be them--they were terrified of him but they wanted to trust him, and he wanted to be the one to help them. When he lost them, it was devastating. He started to wonder if he really just can't save anyone, and people near him are doomed to vanish forever.
Red appeared exactly when Blue needed him. He offered a second chance with Frisk, and he's someone vulnerable who Blue understands implicitly. We can see Blue projecting wildly onto him during their chapter together, to the point of losing his temper with Red when he recognizes his own coping skills (the source of a lot of Blue's self-hate) in him. He's committed to the idea that if Red can be saved, if he can save Red, then Blue must have worth. So, while I wouldn't say that Blue puts up with all of Red's shit, he does have a lot of loyalty and patience for him.

Penny for ur brainthoughts on elemental? 👀🤲
I opened my laptop for this *cracks knuckles* oKAY I am so sorry for the ramble for what's about to come but honestly the reading is unnecessary I just need to ramble on what I can currently think of atm
I'm ngl, I was really initially hesitant to watch the movie. I didn't even plan to, but a friend suggested it while hanging out and watching a movie sounded nice to pass the time.
And I'm glad I did! The advertisement for it was truly atrocious.
I'm not gonna go into the worldbuilding aspect of Elemental City. It's nice, but honestly it's not what intrigues me about the movie. However, I do enjoy their color schemes especially at night with vivid dark blues and contrasting eccentric warm yellows and reds in Firetown!
My biggest love for this movie is the relationships between family (the dynamic with Ember and her father especially), and love (Ember and Wade). Which--cheesy, yes, but it was more than that! It had aspects of being a descendant of immigrant parents and what that means to the child, and the potential for culture clashes in everyday life, including relationships.
With Ember and her father, all throughout her life she's had this desire to prove herself to her family that she will be what makes them proud. To her, it's taking over her dad's store. It's not about being perfect, she understands her temper, but she needs to be better. And knowing that feeling all her life, that pressure never goes away. She wants to show that she's grateful to whatever they have sacrificed for her. She has to be a good daughter. Or else it'll seem as though everything she and her parents have done will have been for nothing. A failure. And because the pressure has always been there, it's understandable as to why she never fully questioned going out and doing her own thing because she figured there isn't a point in looking for more than what she has now. Growing up in a family with more traditional views, sometimes its encouraged to keep within the limits of what someone is already capable of. Or sometimes its just saying, oh, yes, you can dream, but don't dream too big! Ember didn't even let herself do that because she already sees how tired her father is. Therefore, it's practically the idea of sacrificing her own life to protect what she currently has--her family.
Culture in itself is a huge aspect of the movie. Peter Sohn, the creator of Elemental also supported this as he provided examples of his own life being first-gen from an immigrant family and what his parents had to go through while moving into a new country. And while its different elements of characters between water, fire, earth, and air demonstrates those distinctions to an extent, it's deeper than that. It can affect a person's way of life and their relationships. (I lied I'm going into the worldbuilding a bit) Element City is a great aspect of showing the accessibility available to the fire people. Each element is provided their own accessibilities throughout the city, but there is minimal for fire. So instead, they essentially have their own Firetown in the outskirts of the city. But also, you know, the topics of racism. It's there and apparent in the most simple way that the movie can make it. But ngl the think with what Wade's step-dad/uncle(?) says to Ember about speaking clear? I laughed because that does happen. It shouldn't! But it does! Without getting into too much detail irl I've been in similar situations and I like how the movie just addresses it so randomly.
As for Wade and Ember, upon watching it the first time, the relationship was cute, but wasn't entirely something I really cared about. It was mainly due to how Wade was so--Idk, bubbly that I was initially thinking like--"damn, really? We're sticking with this?" It's honestly not that deep. It bugged me at first, with how he pushed Ember about telling her father about everything. And to encourage her to leave her current life at her job just to follow an internship she just learned about! He, who moves from job to job just because he can, and her, who has worked her whole life--it wasn't just about culture as elements, it's even social class. I understood the apprehension and fear Ember felt and the anger of explaining that that doesn't just happen. It's not something that can be done on a whim. It's not because she didn't want to, but because she couldn't. It's a damn privilege. At the time, it was like "leaving" meant leaving everything behind and essentially betraying her family to do something completely different to what she believed meant going against their dreams. And man, does that hurt. But Wade doesn't understand it. Which--unfortunately/fortunately, it's understandable. It's not something that just comes to be understood, it's just something someone can bear and grow with. Wade was one of the first things outside of Ember's life at home in which she wanted. She wanted the relationship. All her life, she has put up this front to be strong, show resilience, don't let anything hurt you. She's protective of her home, her mother, her father, her life. She's always happy and fiery in her personality until she just blows up because of all that stress and anger that's left to build up and explode! But then here's Wade, some fool, who the first thing he says after she explains her experience at the museum with her father, "You must have been so scared." Not even knowing her, or her life at the time to an extent, does he still manage to try to connect with her. And even after everything and the rejection, he STILL tries to prove to her that he's willing to try to understand. And they made it work even with all the apprehension!
In all honesty, a lot of the movie was something really relatable to me, and I see a lot of myself within Ember. Even with the temperament at times haha. I'm also glad to have watched Peter Sohn's explanation of the inspiration for it and his connections to it because he just brings in that perspective and representation of being a person from a family of immigrants and how it event affected his own relationship. I know I could probably say more but I'm just going to leave it as this haha Thanks for coming to my ted talk

It was just another morning in Beacon Hills. You were driving to school like you always did, when you saw a familiar figure with a head of brown hair hurrying along the sidewalk.
Smiling, you pulled over and rolled down your window, calling Liam’s name. His head whipped in your direction, recognition dawning in his blue eyes when he saw that it was you trying to get his attention.
“Need a ride?” You offered, tilting your head at him. Liam hesitated, opening his mouth like he wanted to say something, but then closed it, nodding and hopping into the passenger seat. You made sure he was buckled before pulling back out onto the road.
“Thanks.” He said quietly, shifting his backpack on the floor between his feet.
“No problem.” You replied. “So, what’d you do last night?”
“What? Nothing.” Liam blurted. “I didn’t do anything last night. Just homework. Really boring, actually.”
If there was one thing you knew about Liam, it was that he was a god awful liar.
“Yeah? What class?” You played along, despite your growing suspicions.
“History.”
“Liam, you didn’t have any history homework last night. Mr. Yukimura was out sick, all of his classes had a sub.”
“Oh.”
“What did you really do last night?” You sighed, glancing over at him with a pointed look.
“I don’t think I’m supposed to say.” He muttered, hunkering down in his seat.
“You don’t think? Who told you to say that?” You asked incredulously as you pulled up to a red light, which gave you the opportunity to aim a glare over at the younger boy. He shifted uncomfortably under your pointed look. “Liam, I swear to god—”
“I went with Stiles to spy on Theo, okay?” He blurted. “He’s gonna be so mad at me, I wasn’t supposed to tell you that.”
Liam was with Stiles last night? That couldn’t be right. “No, Stiles told me he was having a movie night with his dad last night.”
“Well, he wasn’t. He dragged me out to the preserve for the whole night, and Theo didn’t even freaking do anything. I didn’t get home till after midnight, my stepdad was pissed.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I’m sure. He grounded me for two weeks!”
“No, I meant you’re sure Stiles was with you?”
“Again, yeah, I’m sure.”
You pressed your lips into a thin line, because if Stiles had been with Liam last night, that meant he’d lied to you about missing movie night. And if he’d lied to you so effortlessly this time, what else had he lied to you about throughout your relationship?
“Uh, Y/N?” Liam’s hesitant voice drew you out of your thoughts. “The light’s green.”
Your eyes refocused on the road ahead to see that the light was in fact green, foot pressing down on the gas as you finished out your drive to school with Liam in awkward silence. As soon as you shifted into park, he was scrambling out of the car with a mumbled ‘thanks for the ride’ before hurrying off, presumably to get away from you as quickly as he could.
You on the other hand, remained frozen in the driver’s seat, mind running through every possible reason you could think of for why Stiles had lied to you. Stiles never lied to you. Your honesty with each other was one of your favorite things about your relationship with him—the fact that no matter what, you’d always tell each other the truth.
What had changed? Was it something you’d done?
You barely heard the first bell ring through your muddled thoughts, but you gathered yourself, grabbing your bag and heading inside.
Usually, you’d stop off at your locker to unload some books, but you remembered that Stiles always waited for you there so you could walk to your first class together. And right now, he was the one person that you definitely didn’t want to see. For sanity’s sake, you needed to avoid him the best you could until you sorted out how you were feeling about him lying to you.
So you beelined for chemistry, sitting in your usual seat and praying that some other student would come sit next to you so you wouldn’t have to face Stiles yet.
Your prayers were very much not answered when you spotted Stiles and Scott making their way into the classroom right as the bell rang again.
“Hey, babe!” Stiles chirped, sliding into the empty seat next to you. He leaned over to press a kiss to your cheek like he always did, but you turned your head, causing him to faceplant into your shoulder. “Uh…okay. Did you get my texts last night?”
You shifted your body away from him, busying yourself with rummaging through your bag for a pencil instead of answering him. Of course you got his texts, but now that you knew he was lying about what he was doing, his i love you and see you tomorrow, sweetheart texts just left a bitter taste in your mouth.
“Y/N?” Stiles’ voice held a tinge of concern now. “Is everything okay?” You ignored him still, looking straight ahead at the board as Ms. Finch started writing your lab for the day on the board. Stiles shared a confused look with Scott behind your back at your actions (or lack thereof).
“What’s wrong?” Scott mouthed, eyes flitting from your set jaw to Stiles’ bewildered gaze. Stiles merely shrugged. He opened his mouth to voice his confusion at your sudden aloofness, but Ms. Finch’s sharp voice had his eyes snapping to the front of the room.
“Listen up, you guys, today we’re going to be doing another lab, so I need everyone to find a lab partner or I will find one for you!” She announced, looking around the room of students before her. “You have two minutes to pick your partners, so go now and quickly.”
Fuck.
You and Stiles always paired up for labs, him claiming that it was your undeniable chemistry with each other that allowed you to earn top marks on them. And if this were any other day, your heart would do a little dance in your chest at his sweet words, but it wasn’t just any other day.
And maybe you were overreacting, but you didn’t really care right now. All you knew was that you didn’t want to work with him today.
You shot up from your chair as soon as you saw Stiles turn to you out of the corner of your eye, still avoiding eye contact with him as you made your way across the room and settled next to another student.
“Dude, what did you do?” Scott asked incredulously, sliding into your old seat next to Stiles.
“I don’t know!”
“Well, you obviously did something, or else Y/N wouldn’t be avoiding you like the plague.”
“You don’t think I know that?” Stiles huffed, frowning as he racked through his brain to try and figure out why you were— “Oh. I fucked up.”
“What happened?”
Stiles dragged a hand down his face, letting out a strangled groan. “I lied to her. Told her I was watching a movie with my dad last night, but I was really in the preserve staking out Theo.”
“How did she even find out?”
“I don’t—Liam. I bet he told her, that little shit! Control your Beta, dude!”
“How is this my fault?” Scott exclaimed. “You’re the one who lied to your girlfriend!”
Stiles was about to shoot back a sarcastic response (as usual), but was cut off when Ms. Finch started going over the lab instructions. Instead, he glanced over at you, taking note of your scowl and growing increasingly more guilty by the second.
He needed to fix this. Fast.
-------
Your attempts to avoid Stiles were successful until you were exchanging books at your locker afterschool.
You’d only made it this far by pure luck—spotting him a split second before he spotted you and taking a different route to class, stepping behind a taller student in the hallway, even so much as ducking into the bathroom when you saw him coming just so he would have to move on eventually.
It was safe to say that you were in quite the hurry, wanting to get your things and get home before he tried to corner you again.
“Y/N.” Stiles’ voice from right next to you made your jaw clench. You refused to look at him, instead passive aggressively (or really just aggressively) shoving a textbook into your backpack. “I know you’re ignoring me, and I deserve it, okay? I’m sorry for not telling you.”
Still silence from you. “Look, can we just talk about this instead of you being mad at me and icing me out?” You slammed your locker shut with a loud bang, fixing him to the spot with a glare before turning to walk away. Before you could get far, he grabbed your arm gently, turning you back to face him. “Babe, please—”
“You’re a liar, Stiles. We said we’d be honest with each other from the start, and I trusted you to keep your word, but you’re a fucking liar.” You snapped, wrenching your arm out of his grip. He opened his mouth to respond, but you shook your head. "I think I deserve the right to be mad at you for once.”
“I didn’t tell you because I was trying to protect you.”
“You’re kidding me, right?” You scoffed. “I’m part of the pack too, I don’t need you to protect me all the time, okay? I can take care of myself just fine.”
“I know that, baby, trust me, I do,” He sighed, dragging a hand through his already messy dark hair as he tried to figure out how to express his thoughts without sounding like a jackass. “I just—this is different than the shit we’ve dealt with in the past. It’s not that I don’t think you can handle yourself, because I know you can. I’ve seen you in action. But this…Theo’s different. I don’t know how to explain it, but I’m scared for us.”
“It’s okay to be scared, Stiles, nobody could face the stuff that we have and not be scared out of their fucking mind, but I thought we were a team. Finding out that you lied and went off on with Liam instead of me made me feel like you didn’t want my help anymore. That you’d found someone better and were gonna leave me in the dark from now on.”
Your anger had dissipated now that you knew Stiles wasn’t just ditching you for shits and giggles.
His expression softened instantly, and he took your hands in his, pressing soft kisses to your knuckles as he pulled you closer. “I would never ditch you for anyone else. Especially not Liam—god, do you know how much of a little shit that kid is?”
A giggle erupted out of your mouth at that, giving Stiles the courage he needed to tug you flush against his chest. With his lips pressed against your hair, he murmured out a promise he intended never to break ever again.
“I swear on my life that I won’t lie to you ever again, Y/N. I’m sorry.”
“You’re forgiven. Mostly.” You sighed, looping your arms around his neck and tilting your head up to look at him.
“Mostly?”
“You still owe me a movie night, Stilinski.”
“Oh, definitely,” Stiles let out a relieved laugh, smiling down at you. “Anything you want, sweetheart.”
“I was thinking we could have a romcom marathon?”
“Anything except that.” Your elbow jabbed into his ribs. “Ow, shit—no, I’d love that! So much.”
You smiled innocently. “That’s what I thought.”
“Of course.”
“Because you did say anything I wanted.”
“Did I? I don’t remember saying that.”

How could this even happen? You had no clue, but here you were, watching your beloved become someone else's. What happened to the promise? Did it not matter anymore?
Tears threatened to fall from your eyes, the man you loved, kissing someone else, right in front of you too. Where did it all go wrong? You thought he loved you; but you were clearly wrong. Just look at him, he was kissing someone else with no shame. Not even the slightest hesitation, he just went all in.
You really hoped it was all a misunderstanding and that you were seeing things. Maybe this was a nightmare and you'd wake up to him right beside you. But no, you were wrong, especially when you felt the warm substance fall out of eyes.
You were wide awake. Too awake. Why couldn't he just tell you, instead of this? He deliberately invited you here, and he deliberately decided to kiss another person. He wasn't even drunk, in fact, his glass was sitting on the bar table, untouched.
"Why are you so shocked? You know he's a big flirt, it's obvious he was gonna kiss someone sooner or later"
The red head behind the bar spoke nonchalantly, he was unhappy to be at such a large gathering, cleaning glasses while paying little to no attention to anything specifically.
That was right, you and him decided to keep this relationship a secret. No one knew, not even his sworn brother. Had he never spilled while he was out drunk? He seemed like the person who was open all the time. But it had just hit you, never once when he talked to anyone did it seem honest, it was all just white lies. In honesty, had he even spoke to you at all full heartedly?
Everything. Everything just felt like a big hoax to you right now. The one you loved, kissing someone else. While you stood there frozen, watching with blurry eyes. Did he not have the slightest shame? Kissing someone like that out in the open, especially with his soon to be ex-lover watching from the sidelines.
You tried to dismiss it off; thinking you were drunk, but you couldn't. You hadn't even touched a glass of wine tonight. The tears threatening to fall, fell; you were beyond pissed now. The sadness washed away, leaving just an angry person ready to yell their heart out. But, you weren't one for making scenes, so perhaps you'd have to wait until you could yell to your heart's content. Not that he'd listen, anyway. But perhaps it'd give you just the right amount of relief; the adrenaline in your veins hopefully taking the pain away for a while. And besides, you'd probably be kicked out. You didn't exactly want to ruin your image either.
"I'm.. not shocked."
That's all you could stammer out as you decided to divert your gaze. Abruptly pulling out a stool from underneath the bar table, you sat down. Your posture sulking downwards and your voice weak. The tears were light at first, that was until you buried your head in your arms, hoping everyone around you would just vanish.
"...Ah, I see"
Realization dawned onto the red head, his eyes widening ever so slightly as he took it in. He never knew the annoying blue haired man had a lover, he never thought he would be able to get a lover. Sure he was flirty, but almost everyone knew he was untrustworthy and hard to please. Almost everyone knew that he was suspicious and held a fake personality most of the time. His face cheery for one person and deathly serious for the other. The man was definitely mysterious, but annoying nonetheless.
So how didn't you know? How could you fall for his tricks so easily? He didn't know at all, he was sure everyone at least had the slightest suspicions for him. So why didn't you fall into that category? Were you from a different land other then Mondstadt? You couldn't be, after all, you'd been a regular at his bar.
"..May I have a dandelion wine please?"
Your voice was so utterly weak. How pathetic you thought to yourself. You knew he was suspicious, so why trust him so naively? God, how much dumber could you get.
"Yeah.. sure"
He'd seen a lot of break ups happen in his bar, most of them being clean breaks but some rare ones being exact replicas of this. He had never experienced romantic love for himself, so he didn't know how it felt. But what he did know was that it probably hurt like hell, maybe it was like when he lost his father. Or maybe like when him and Kaeya grew apart. He didn’t know any better.
But he did no one thing for sure, betrayal hurts like a bitch. So maybe he could at least hold some empathy for you. Growing up with Kaeya definitely made him hold even more spite, the once joyful kid couldn't even seem to hurt a fly. Now look at him, it truly made him angry. How could he do this so carelessly?
"..It's on the house."
He felt like he had to. I mean, he grew up with the man who caused the person in front of him so much pain. How dare he waste someone else's time on something he knew wouldn't work?
"Ah.. thanks"
The words seemed to catch in your throat; the kind action being the exact thing you needed right now. Your mood would've lifted slightly if it weren't for the sounds of the man behind you. Just his presence made your guts churn with anger. You wanted him away from you, but you couldn't leave so abruptly; especially after what you had just been offered.
You downed the glass of dandelion wine, not caring whether or not you'd get drunk. But you should stop, after all, you doubt he'd bring you back to your home safely. You couldn't trust him anymore, not after what he had done.
You knew now that it definitely wasn't a misunderstanding. He wasn't just pulled into the kiss by a random person, he in fact wanted the kiss. To be honest, most the sounds were coming from him, it was unbearably annoying; almost heartbreaking.
Maybe you shouldn't have invested yourself into the relationship so much, especially after a short period of time. But that was your mistake, you did the exact opposite.
The night was so overwhelming, even though you had only had one drink. Kaeya's constant teasing made your heart sink, he was doing it on purpose. Talking about his 'newly' found lover and asking why you were so down all of a sudden. He knew you had cried, I mean, your puffy eyes weren't helping the situation much. But what did you know? He was probably glad seeing you so down, likely feeding his ego. But you didn't care anymore, he'd hear an earful from you and that'd be the end of it. Half a year wasted on something that would die this quick.
But you were content with one thing that night; that you had gotten out of a relationship that was going to go downhill very soon. His suppressed toxicity was probably going to shine through his exterior pretty soon anyways. Your remarks were small and weak that night, just hoping it'd be over. And when it finally was; you yelled. You yelled and you yelled at him, your voice breaking every now and then. But he wasn't listening, you knew that.
An act of kindness from his sworn brother must've helped you. The stoic man seemingly breaking his stone cold facade for a few seconds as he pitied you. Knowing very well how irritated and lost you must feel.
The night was no longer young; the sun rising and showing its face brightly. Your eyes felt sore, and so did your throat. Your words out in the open for him to reflect on, but he wouldn't.
Oh how bittersweet you felt. Your emotions all over the place and your headache raging on. What a bad day it was going to be.

To be a human - Scaramouche x reader - Part 7 (Final)
You knew committing to a relationship with Scaramouche would be no easy task but you loved him dearly and unlike others, you believed he wasn't evil. But as a mortal and the devoted protector of your village you were too much of a good person, too much of a human compared to him and your differences slowly start to show.
Previous: Part 6
Length: 4000 words
Trigger warnings: blood, mentions of loss
A. note: Scaramouche is my favourite character in the game and I really love him. But I couldn't help and feel awful when he said those words in Inazuma. Look, I don't think that Mihoyo is gonna let the huge opportunity slip and not make him playable (for which we need to have at least a tiny bit of friendship with him and well, right now mc straight up hates him) but in case that does happen, in case he doesn't get a redemption arc, I made one myself. I wrote this to redeem him in my own, and hopefully your eyes as well. I hope you enjoyed reading this story of that little bastard as much as I enjoyed writing it.
It was fair to say that Scaramouche was stunned by the sight of the local people.
Certainly not because he suddenly grew fond of them. It was rather because the way they appeared out of blue when little Yu gave them a sign. She let out three short whistles and the forest came to life in front of the harbinger.
Old men and woman, little children and whole families walked towards them. It was clear even for Scaramouche that they looked uneasy and hostile. They surely wouldn’t have appeared in front of the fatui if it wasn’t for Yu.
The sixth harbinger was astonished.
Because they would trust someone, especially a child so much.
Because there were so many of them.
He counted the people walking towards Yu. Way more than he’d thought there would be.
These people were injured, dirty and exhausted. But they were alive. And all because of one person.
‘Impressive’ he thought to himself.
Yu talked to them, explaining why the fatui was there and promising that they’re not in danger any more. The people seemed less at ease in his presence now but the harbinger still felt the piercing gazes. If looks could’ve killed he would have been dead in an instant.
He knew they all blamed him for the things that had happened. Maybe they even thought he was the one who made the abbys attack their village.
But Scaramouche got used to these types of glances during the years and he did not care about them any more. All that mattered was that they were able to help.
He stood behind little Yu who was still clinging onto her doll. Scaramouche stared at the bloodstains on the toy as she asked the people of Qingce to help find you.
The thought to promise them money crossed his mind but the instantly threw it away. He just somehow felt that it would be very wrong.
These people won’t help him because he can pay them. They won’t help because Yu asked them to either. They will help because you had been guarding them for years.
Mentioning your name caused them to stir up, to get loud and the all of a sudden the whole crowd was ready to go and search in the mountains.
It was obvious how much they loved and respected you. Maybe even more than Scaramouche used to, he realized.
Yu turned to him and nodded.
‘I think we can go now.’
‘How are you going to search everything?’ the harbinger asked as he crouched down to the child. It wasn’t needed since he wasn’t much taller than her but it felt like the right thing to do.
Yu’s eyes wandered to the hat. She reached out and gently touched it.
Scaramouche normally would’ve ended the person who messed with his hat but when the child did it, he somehow felt no urge to do so.
‘It’s because so many people are watching’ he explained to himself. But it still felt a bit weird not being annoyed.
He cleared his throat so Yu would focus on him again.
‘We know this place well’ she answered, letting her arms fall back to her side. ‘We will split up and warn each other if we find something.’
‘My people are out too.’
‘Then call them back.’
The harbinger glared at the child. She really was fearless, wasn’t she, huh. First touching his hat and now disrespecting the fatui.
‘You know…’ he crossed his brows as he began to speak but Yu quickly cut him off.
‘Everyone is afraid of them. And they’ll just be in the way. They don’t know the mountains, do they?’
Scaramouche clenched his teeth together. But he had to admit that the girl was right.
He stood up and walked towards the agents standing by a nearby bridge. They were there since the people appeared to make sure they don’t try to do anything to their harbinger.
He gestured to bring them closer then stood and crossed his arms.
‘First, I want to know how a big group of fatui agents were unable to find anyone when there was a whole village hiding in the forest’ he questioned them with a glare.
The agents were bowing already but now they bowed even deeper.
‘F-forgive us, our lord!’ a pyro agent answered. ‘They’re locals and we…’
‘Spare your apologies, I don’t care.’
Scaramouche closed his eyes for a moment and let out a sigh. He really didn’t care, he only snapped at them to let out a little frustration.
‘Call back everyone from the mountains. And let these people do what they want. Anyone who disturbs them in any way shall be punished.’
‘But my lord…’
‘Do as I say!’
Scaramouche turned his back to them and the agents hurried away. He watched as the people of Qingce split up and began their search in the forest, around the destroyed village.
He looked up to the mountains. Clouds hid the most of them, they were so huge, so high. And there were so many places you could be.
Was is it even possible that you were alive?
Scaramouche never lied to himself and this was the first time he wanted to. He simply just didn’t want to accept the small chances of finding you. He wanted to feel hope.
‘You better be alive, Y/n’ he muttered to himself. ‘For your own sake.’
For his sake.
*
‘Have you taken a look around in that cave too?’
‘I haven’t but I can go if…’
‘Stay.’
Scaramouche climbed to the cave and looked into the hole. It was smaller than it seemed from below and inside it there was absolutely nothing.
He quietly let himself down. He jumped on a bigger stone on the path under him, the bells violently jingling on his hat.
Little Yu asked nothing. It was obvious from the harbinger’s expression that he found nothing.
The air began to feel a little chilly in the mountains. The sun was getting ready to go down and let the moon take its place.
They’ve spent their whole day with searching. They’ve found absolutely nothing so far.
There were a lot of traces left behind the abbys order and the monsters. It was also clear that the fight continued outside of the village as well. Corpses of dead monsters bordered the narrow paths.
But your body was nowhere to be find.
Scaramouche looked up to the sky. The first star had already appeared. And with that, their last piece of hope started to slip away.
‘We haven’t looked there yet.’
The harbinger snapped out of his dark thoughts and glanced at the child in front of him. She pointed at a smaller mountain nearby.
‘That’s very far away from the village’ Scaramouche claimed. ‘We’d be just wasting our time.’
‘Then where do you want me to go?’ Yu asked.
The man let out a sigh. She was right, they’ve already looked through every bush and searched every rock on this mountain.
He started walking towards the other one without saying anything, and Yu silently followed him.
In the valley below them, lots of figures were moving and changing places. The locals still haven’t given up even though it was getting colder and darker with every passing moment.
A red dot appeared. Then another. They started lighting torches.
Scaramouche felt like choking. He touched his throat and fastened his steps.
He tried to banish the horrifying thoughts from his head but his desperate tries were unsuccessful.
You’re dead. They’re only going to find a cold body and not you. You’re dead and it is his fault.
He shook his head to quiet the voices and to get back into focusing on his search.
This made him realize that he hadn’t seen little Yu in a while. Scaramouche stopped and turned his head to check on the girl.
She was behind him a few meters away. Her movements were too slow to keep up with the harbinger’s.
‘Are you coming or not?’ The man growled at her. ‘Hurry up.’
‘Sorry…’ She was out of breath, quietly panting. ‘You can leave me behind. I know I’m just slowing you down.’
Scaramouche rose his brows at the young child who was not even tall enough to reach the ground from a bigger rock. Was she really that aware? What should he do now? Just leave her here? He was willing to do that, to be honest. The sun was about to completely disappear.
Yu grabbed the side of the rock. She let her feet down, trying to get down safely but she was too tired – the little girl stumbled and fell.
Scaramouche didn’t even realize he was reaching out – but a moment later he found himself holding the child in his own arms.
They stared at each other, the sixth Fatui Harbinger and the kid from Liyue. It was impossible to tell who was more surprised, the one holding or the one being held.
But it was the man who found his voice first.
‘Don’t think I’m gonna carry you like this to the other mountain.’
‘I didn’t think that’ she answered quietly.
Scaramouche cleared his throat and opened his lips. But before any other words could’ve come out of his mouth, a sharp whistle cut through the air.
They both jerked their heads up.
The sound was coming from below, south to the village.
The whistle was repeated – two short, two long ones.
‘They’ve found her’ Yu said.
*
Scaramouche had no memories of how he got down from the top of the mountain.
All he remembered was the crazy pace of his heartbeat. The darkness invading his head. That terrific feeling clenching his heart, incredible, deep fear he’s never experienced before.
There were many people standing in his way in front of a big cave. He pushed them away as he rushed to get closer.
It was dark. Everyone stood with a torch in their hands. He heard the whispers but the words were incomprehensiblenext to the loud beating of his own heart. There were figures but they were blurry, everything was blurry…
Until he saw you.
You were laying on the ground. Your body completely still, your chest not rising nor sinking. Your clothes torn, bloody.
There was so much blood.
He stumbled and fell on his knees in front of you. A local turned to him and spoke but he understood nothing. His hand was shaking as he reached out to touch you.
You were… cold.
He forgot how to breathe and just stared down at your body. Your messy hair hid your face and that just didn’t feel right.
Why was this happening?!
Everything was supposed to become alright after they’ve found you!
How dare you be dead, how dare you not wake up to his touch, to his wishes, to all wishes around you…!
‘Balladeer!’
He snapped out of the blurriness when someone grabbed his arm. An old lady with a serious look tried to pull him back.
‘Let go of me!’ he hissed, pushing her away. He groaned when the grip became stronger instead on his arm. Pain in his heart and body blinded him as he shouted. ‘I said, let go of me or else…’
‘Please stay out of the way of my people’ the lady asked in a calm tone. ‘She needs serious help.’
‘What help can you provide when she’s dead?!’ he screamed at her in a hoarse voice. ‘You stay away from her!’
‘Please calm down. Y/n is not dead… yet.’
Scaramouche slowly closed his eyes. The words echoed in his head.
She’s not dead. She’s not dead. She’s not dead. Yet.
He took a deep, shaking breath. The cold air in his lungs cooled him off a little.
You were alive. But also, only barely. He finally understood what that meant. But he couldn’t let himself feel any relief nor fear…
He was a harbinger, he was part of the Fatui under the rule of the almighty Tsaritsa. He was Scaramouche, the Balladeer who simply could not allow himself to show any vulnerability in front of mere mortals.
Even if it was about you.
Even if he wasn’t the same person any more.
‘Bring a healer’ he said in a lower tone.
‘We don’t have any vision bearers among us’ the lady answered. ‘But we’ll do everything to keep her alive.’
Scaramouche nodded and stood up. It took a lot of strength to tear his eyes from you but he forced himself to do it and turned around.
‘Alert my people and tell them to give you all that you need’ he told the locals as he fixed his hat. ‘Tents, medicine, food, everything.’
The people stood there in silence for a few seconds, not knowing whether to obey him. They only moved when the old lady from before thanked him. Then they finally set off towards the village.
Scaramouche wanted to turn back and take a glance at you one more time to make sure you’re really there and not just a hallucination. But suddenly little Yu appeared in his sight and that made him stay.
‘She’s alive’ the girl whispered. The mask she had worn so far finally broke and her expression was an expression of a little child. She seemed tired, sad and a little happy. ‘I’m so glad… Scara.’
The harbinger nodded and closed his eyes for a moment. His heart was still beating fast with fear but those heavy weights on his shoulders finally started getting lighter.
He felt something touching his hand and he opened his eyes to the sight of Yu holding onto him.
This type of physical connection was very far away from what Scaramouche would tolerate coming from a human but he felt way too tired to resist. He just let the little girl clench his pinkie and they both watched silently as some helpers grabbed your body and moved it to a safer place.
*
You felt like something that had been sitting on your chest for a while finally moved. Something even bigger, a huge, scary type of darkness slowly left your body.
It left you with the first breath you were aware of taking in a long time.
You let out a small sigh. And opened your eyes.
There was a fabric cover above you.
You were in a tent, safe and sound. Alive.
The first thing you noticed was the temperature. It was warm, welcoming and comforting. Lot of soft blankets covered your body which hurt badly but the pain was dim.
You tried to look around but your head was too heavy. You could barely tip your head to the side.
But the sight was worth it.
Your breath was taken away one more time. You just stared in silence and you could feel your eyes widen in shock.
‘You’re awake.’
Scaramouche closed the book he was reading and looked at you with a straight face.
‘Finally.’
He put the book down with a slow movement.
Mixed emotions invaded you. You fell from relief to happiness to fright in a span of a few seconds. You were alive and Scaramouche was here with you, but – why did he seem so distant? Was he still angry at you even after everything that had happened?
You almost let fear overrun you. Almost.
But your gaze fell on his hands and he couldn’t hide his true feelings from you any more. His hands were visibly trembling as he still held onto his book.
Little did you know he could have not read a single word written in the last couple of hours. He just sat there and watched over your sleep, not dozing off for even a second himself.
The shaking of his hands became even more obvious and he couldn’t hold himself back any more.
He moved closer and placed his trembling palms next to the sides of your body. He looked down on you from above and as you stared back at him, you could clearly see something that wasn’t there before.
The usual cold, emotionless blur was nowhere to be found in his dark eyes. Instead, there was pain. And a lot of it.
‘How dare you do this to me?’
During the years of your relationship, he’s grown to be comfortable in your presence but he never ever showed any signs of vulnerability in front of you and you just accepted that it’s probably never going to happen.
It was shocking, almost scary seeing him like this.
The desperate expression on his face softened and he let his head plop on your shoulders.
‘Scara’ you whispered. Your voice was hoarse and dry but it was your voice. You were able to speak.
The realization of how unlikely your survival was suddenly hit you and your eyes teared up.
‘Scara, I… I really thought I was gonna die…’
‘Then you’re stupid’ he answered, speaking into the blankets covering your shoulder. ‘You should know that you can’t die without my permission.’
You laughed through your tears. They streamed down on your face, straight into your ears. But even that felt so good. Crying was a sign of being alive from the very beginning of life and you never understood that so much than at that time.
‘Don’t… leave me ever again.’
You didn’t event think, the words just left your mouth.
‘Don’t worry.’ Scaramouche finally got himself together enough to sit up and at least pretend that he was alright. ‘You have successfully proved you’re not capable of taking after yourself so now I’m definitely stuck babysitting you till the rest of our lives.’
His movements said otherwise though. The way he caressed your cheek to dry the tears up showed that he’s not just stuck. He wantsto stay.
Just what kind of thinks did he go through in the past days? – the question occurred to you.
To think about it… why did he even come back? How did he hear what happened? And your people?! Were they safe?
So many questions echoed in your head and you couldn’t even put most of them into words that made sense. So opened your mouth and quietly asked:
‘What happened?’
‘I want to know the same’ he said. ‘What happened? How did you get so far away from the village? How are you alive in the first place?’
You thought back to the night. Pain stabbed you instantly and you had to close your eyes for a moment to calm it.
‘I don’t remember much. But I think the abbys wanted to take me with them. Is that… possible?’
‘I heard all kinds of things about them’ Scaramouche nodded. ‘It is very possible. Continue.’
‘There isn’t much to say… Obviously I tried to resist but there were too many of them. They probably realized I would be just a burden. I remember a mage knocking me out. But they didn’t kill me…’
‘Well, given your injuries, they must’ve thought there’s not a lot of time left for you. It really is a miracle that you’re alive.’ Scara stated. ‘And you were in that wet cave for an entire day too. You were nearly dead when we found you.’
‘We?’
You stared at him and your heartbeat dropped.
‘You mean…’
‘Yes’ he sighed. ‘That people of yours.’
He went silent for a moment then rolled his eyes.
‘They helped me out… I guess.’
‘So they’re all alive and safe?’ you asked and couldn’t help but laugh in relief. ‘That is so amazing! Thank you, Scara!’
‘Thank yourself, idiot’ he snorted. ‘You were the one who kept a whole abbys army away from them after all.’
The harbinger shook his head.
‘I hate that you were so reckless to do that… but I have to say I’m impressed. We should spar again sometimes.’
‘Aren’t you afraid you’re getting your ass kicked?’ you grinned.
‘I compliment you one time and you get this cocky?’ he crossed his eyebrows. ‘I have to put you back into your place, I see.’
You laughed and as you were finally strong enough to move a little, you grabbed his hand. He had to oppress his smile with force.
‘And how did you know… we were going to be attacked?’
The question made his task much easier. The harbinger’s face turned back to being serious once again.
‘I have my connections’ he answered briefly. ‘But you don’t have to worry, the fatui had nothing to do with the attack.’
‘I would never think that’ you rushed to make your words clear. ‘I just… hope that my people feel the same.’
Scara shrugged. Then averted his eyes as he thought of someone.
‘I don’t know about the others but there’s one person who clearly does.’
‘Who?’
‘That girl… Yu or whatever her name is.’
You stared at him in surprise. You’d never thought the day would come where he mentions a child and doesn’t frown. And to think that it’s Yu as well! Yu who was normally wary of strangers and such a gentle child…
Just what happened to him? – you asked yourself again.
You searched for answers in his eyes but it seemed like there were things that even this new type of Scaramouche, this more vulnerable and open one wouldn’t tell.
But it was alright. Maybe you didn’t need to know. You were just happy to be there and experience it yourself.
‘How is Yu?’ you asked.
‘Alright’ Scara muttered.
‘Her mother?’
‘Oh, her… Well…’
He hesitated for a moment and that was enough. Every good and warm feeling was instantly replaced by cold ones and you found yourself sitting up in dread.
‘Please tell me… She’s not…’
‘Hey, don’t sit up! Lie back right now!’
When you didn’t obey, Scaramouche pushed you back with his own hands. He was right, your body started aching terribly from moving and the physical pain almost outgrew the pain in your heart.
‘Is she…’
‘Yu’s fine. Don’t worry.’
‘No! I need to talk to her!’
‘You won’t.’
You clenched your teeth together in despair and Scara flinched. He saw himself in you when you did that. Earlier this day his expression was still this full of pain.
‘Scaramouche!’ you said, calling him by his first name which he suddenly realized, he hated more than that stupid nickname. ‘I will go and talk to her and you can’t stop me!’
‘I…’
‘Just think about everything you felt while I was missing! I know you don’t want me to go away again but you need to understand.’
‘All I’m trying…’
‘Maybe I really am cocky to think that it was painful to you but if I’m not and it really was, then just imagine that Yu feels like that too right now. And on top of that, she has no hope whatsoever. She knows that her mother is dead and there’s no…’
‘Oh, to Celestia, can you shut up for a moment?’ Scara interrupted you harshly. Then he frowned and quickly continued. ‘What I was about to say is that under no circumstances should you get up with these injuries. But you can talk to Yu.’
‘I can…?’
‘Yes, idiot. I’ll call her over.’
You stared at him in silence.
‘You’d… do that?’
‘Yes.’
‘So… you won’t mind if she stays with us?’
‘I guess not?’
‘Not even for a long time?’
‘I said no, stop asking these stupid questions.’
You were speechless and just gazed at him without saying anything for a long time.
You had mixed feelings about the Scara you woke up to so far. But this had finally convinced you that he really has changed into something better.
A slow smile formed on your lips. It grew bigger and bigger and it completely lit your face up.
‘You’re grinning like an idiot’ Scara claimed but nothing, not even his salty remarks could take away your happiness any more.
‘Scara, I really love you.’
‘You better do.’
He stood up and turned away as quickly as he could to try and hide the blush on his face. He knew if you saw that, you’d be teasing him about it till the rest of your lives together.
You were still grinning “like an idiot” as he was rushing to leave the tent. But even though he was in hurry, before he’d stepped out, he made sure to turn back and say:
‘I’ll be back.’

It was as if your anchestors wanted to deliver a warning, for Asgard had never faced a storm matching this fateful afternoon.
The thunder swallowed all of your screams and cries, every curse you spoke with each contraction as the baby made it’s way into this world. All this time, your precious husband would never leave your side, letting you squeeze his hand as much as you needed.
“Only a little bit more, my Lady!” the midwife shoutet from between your legs, her tone calm yet cheerful. “I can already see the head!”
“I’m right here. You’re doing wonderful, my petal.” Loki was softly petting your hair, pressing a wet kiss into your forehead. “You are incredibly strong, Y/N. And I love you so much!”
Remaining collected was using up all of his energy at that very moment, you knew that much. Yet not even the God of Lies could hide all the helplessness and excitement stirring in his head at that very moment.
Being with the Prince of Asgard was just like in a dream.
Once you get to know him, that troublesome arrogant lone wolf turned into a smart, caring - and especially charming - prince. And hel, Loki treated you like a Queen.
All this pain you were experiencing right now would ultimately lead to the greatest bliss imagineable - just like it was with Loki.
Oh, how dearly you had fought, suffered, yearned for him, only to be rewarded with heartbreak and frustration. In between his feverishly chase for the throne and his rivalry with Thor, there was just no room for a loving relationship to grow.
The crushing weight of thinking himself unworthy for affection had made him cold and bitter over the millenias, telling himself the comforting lie that he was above all, born for a glorious purpose.
For the God of Mischief, whose kinsmen had always made him feel out of place or under-appreciated, the process of trusting had always been one step forward, three steps back.
But through your compassion, and with a great deal of patience and understanding, you slowly but steadily melted the ice around the prince’s heart.
Because deep inside, you always knew that it was worth it.
And today would be the peak of your romance: Your child would forever remind the Odinson that he belonged somewhere - right here, with you.
“It’s a boy!”
“A heir?!” Loki exclaimed, smothering your face in kisses. “Well done!”
You smiled weakly at his excitement, in between choked sobs. All that your exhausted self was able to process was the fact that your child is born - and you already loved him beyond reason.
“Where is he?!” you whimpered, unable to realize how the air in the room had shifted - for when the midwife touched the infant, she began to scream in agony.
“What’s wrong?!” Loki’s eyes were narrowing at the midwife that almost dropped his newborn, detecting some sort of burn wound on her palm. Quickly, she had covered the boy in a towel, aware that if any harm came over that baby, she was to die at the God of Mischief’s hands.
A flash of lightning was brightening the whole room, which had only been flooded by dim candle light until now.
Another one of the midwife’s screeched in terror, almost stumbling as she frantically erscaped your bedchamber. The adrenaline from birth and worry about your child sharpened your senses, yet concentration was almost impossible.
Still, the words she was yelling as she ran down the hall send a shiver down your spine:
“It’s a monster.”
Your head was spinning as you rushed into an upright position, with two nurses pressing you onto the bed again. “Milady, you need to rest! It’s still too early!”
“What is wrong with my child?!?” you desperately screamed, kicking with your legs to free yourself from their hold. “Give it to me!”
Their expressions were too much to bear. Your head was spinning, seeing pity mixing up with disgust and anger in their eyes.
“Enough!” Loki finally broke his own silence, his mind having been occupied with all the horror scenarios one could think about.
Walking up to the midwife carrying the infant, he demanded seeing it. “Your highness, don’t-” yet the midwife’s beg was for naught.
Yes, everything will be alright. Loki will take care of it, like he always does. After all, he’s your savior, your hero, the love of your life...
Gently and insecure, your husband cradled the newborn in his arms - a sight to behold. And the baby’s strong cries assured you that it was at least alive.
However, as soon as he dared to unwrap the towel, revealing it’s face, Loki’s heartbeat completely stopped for a second. His trembling lip began to shake, mouth widely agape as he took in the child’s form.
For a brief moment, his mind was completely blank. All emotion dropped from his face before taking in a complete different demeanour.
“Wha-” you wouldn’t dare ending that sentence when your husband’s furious eyes met yours.
The air was so thick, you thought not even Thor’s hammer could break it. Clearly ritten on Loki’s usual unreadable face were so many emotions at once:
Aversion, fury, incredible sorrow...all directed towards you? The child?
Impossible.
Loki Odinson loved you more than anything in this world, this was the only thing you had always been sure he wasn’t lying about.
“From all the people I expected to betray me...” His voice was hoarse, as if the ache in his heart was wrapping around his throat. “Why did it have to be you?”
You could feel the horrendous aura, a wave of sadness and despair coming from your husband. Seeing him like this was like torture.
“What- what do you mean, darling-”
“Don’t fucking call me that, you harlot!” That was surely not the first time your lover had raised your voice against you - he could be a bit difficult at times, obviously.
But this time was different somehow. It sounded so...ultimate.
And the Loki you knew would never use such harsh words against you!
“Please, I beg of you...just let me see my baby!” Everything was just too much for you, almost to the point of passing out.
And the man did as you pleaded, almost shoving the child into your arms. “There, have your bastard! And make sure to never show your filthy faces to me ever again!”
With that, he stormed out of the room, leaving you with those strange nurses looking at you like you’ve just commited an unforgiveable crime.
There was no use in overthinking this. He’ll come back like he always did. You can work this out, whatever it is - even if you are gonna be mad for a very long time, making such a fuss and then disappearing instead of taking care of you, the mother of his child.
Out of a whim, you decided to finally observe the little being you’ve been waiting for all those months.
A loud gasp escaped your mouth as you realized just why everyone was so worked up about that little boy. Yet the sound you made was solely surprised - not a hint of fear or rejection laced your voice.
It was a beautiful baby boy, little fists balled to the air as if he was searching for the warmth of his parents - though his skin was in the shade of a dark blue. When you dared running your hand over the deep lines and ridges on his body, the stinging pain of frostbite immediately stung your fingertips. His eyes snapped open, looking at you with black irises through red scleras.
You knew the meaning of this, even though you didn’t understand how this was possible: This child was a biological Frost Giant. A small one, but nonetheless.
A curse? Was someone trying to play your family dirty? No. If that was the case, the child wouldn’t also have actual powers together with the appearance.
Just how long have those tears been running down your cheeks in thick streams already? You wouldn’t know.
Only one thing came as clear as daylight to you: You loved this baby, more than anything in this world. And no matter the hardships that came along with it - you would protect him, no matter what!
“He’s magnificent...” you sniffled, pecking some quick kisses onto his small body before the cold could hurt you. “I love you so, so much...!”
Not minding the judging looks of the nurses, let alone wondering about the consequences, resolve was starting to give you new strenght.
The boy got a grasp on your finger, and instead of your skin freezing off as expected, your magic allowed him to the boy to finally disguise itself as one of you. How was this even possible? Well, this is probably the first time something like this ever happened, so no one could prepare you for what to expect with this child.
They all say that birth was an impactful event - but nothing could’ve prepared you for everything that you had to endure on this day.
Yet nothing could’ve stopped you from believing that this child was the greatest blessing that ever came over you.
Now you only had to convince your husband of that very fact...
“Y/N Y/L/N!” the guard wouldn’t even bother adressing you with your full title as his harsh voice woke you up. When had you drifted away into slumber anyway? You were probably way more worn out than you wanted to admit...
Your eyes immediately snapped open, heart skipping a beat until you saw that your son was still sleeping soundly right next to you. Stroking his cheek as he smiled up to you, it almost made you forget about that burdensome situation.
“Hey!” Protectingly, you were holding onto your child for dear life as the guard approached both of you. “I have an important message to deliver!”
You scowled, almost like an animal mother protecting their offsprings with baring teeth, even though you knew in that state you would be completely and utterly helpless. “Why now? What could be more important than the well-being of my child?”
The answer let your blood run cold:
“I am here to announce that Lady Y/N Y/L/N has to face a trial in front of the Allfather. The following crimes she is being accused of: Infidelity, collaboration with the enemy and trying to sneak one of them into our glorious kingdom.”

Tom
frat!tom cause why not
warnings: 18+ smut (protected, for once sdfghj)
––✧––
you cursed silently when another cold breeze hit you––you had no idea why you hadn’t brought a sweater tonight but you were inevitably paying the price. you felt your heart rate quicken when you noticed a familiar face making it’s way towards you on the deck.
“should have told me you were coming darling, would have loved to see you sooner.” tom. you and tom had a very flirty relationship, but nothing ever happened between the two of you––maybe because you just liked to see how eager he would get.
though you loved to see his curls, he did look good with a cap on. he was wearing a blue cap, backwards, a tight black t-shirt and a pair of jeans––the bottle of beer in his hand attracting your eyes to the veins going down his arm, the slight red tint to his knuckles as he gripped the bottle.
you shrugged, “was a last minute decision.”
his lip quirked up as he scanned your body shamelessly, eyes catching on your nipples straining through your shirt, the way your hand was running up and down your opposite arm and you felt another shiver run through your body––this time not from the cold.
he dragged his eyes back up to yours, “you cold?”
your voice was small, “freezing, actually.”
he licked his lips, his eyes becoming a shade darker as he stepped closer to you, a twinkle in his gaze. “want me to warm you up?”
you looked into his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. what the hell, right? “okay.”
he paused at first, shocked that you agreed so quickly––you would always blow him off, tease him, play this cat and mouse game. but now that you were actually giving him a chance? he didn’t know what to do with himself. he blinked then smiled and reached a hand out. “come on then.”
he took your hand in his and walked you inside, leading you up to his room, setting his beer down along the way.
it wasn’t long before you were both in his bed, your pants and his shirt off, his hand between your thighs as he lied down next to you, leaning on his arm to watch you.
he looked at you, his eyes wide and falsely innocent as his fingers continued to thrust into you slowly, his thumb rubbing your clit. “is it working? am i warming you up?”
you let out a slightly shaky breath and rolled your hips into his touch. “you’re getting there, yeah.”
he smirked and leaned in to whisper, “good,” before slotting his lips with yours. his mouth was moving fervently, you could taste the beer on his lips just he could taste your drink on yours. neither of you were drunk, of course, but you had had a few sips throughout the night. if anything, as cheesy as it sounds, you felt drunk on tom at the moment. he was hitting all the right spots, his lips moving in sync with yours as if they belonged together.
his fingers started thrusting faster, his thumb applying more pressure as he rubbed circled onto your bundle of nerves. you gasped into the kiss and he smiled, biting your lip before pulling away.
“let me hear those pretty moans, yeah?
to his pleasure, his words only pulled more sounds from you, your hips circling and grinding into his hand as you gripped the sheets.
“so fucking pretty, aren’t you? god––” your head tipped back and your breaths became heavier, your eyes shut. “you gonna cum?” when you nodded, too lost in the pleasure to answer verbally, he smiled. “that’s it, cum on my fingers. wanna feel you.”
soon enough, you were cumming, your lips parted to let out a string of moans and calls of tom’s name, which he ate right up. the sight of you and the feel of you were enough to make him want to burst.
when your body went lax and you turned your head to look at him with a smile, he leaned in and gave you a long, wet kiss, before sliding his two fingers inside your mouth, watching with a dropped jaw as you sucked him clean. he slid his digits in and out teasingly slow, getting lost in the look in your eyes before taking his hand away and biting his lip.
“do you wanna sit on my face?” his voice dropped down to a whisper, “cause i know that i would love for you to ride my tongue.”
“fuck––”
he smirked, “i’ll take that as a yes, then?”
you nodded and let him undress you, his pupils dilating as he took in the view. his hands were gentle, smoothing over your body, tracing your curves curiously and clearly aroused. when you were bare you reached up towards his head. “i’ll be taking this then,” you took his hat and placed it on your own head and the sight made him curse.
“fuck, get on me. right now.”
he lied down and you bit your lip, straddling his face. you hovered just above him and looked down. “are you sure i won’t hurt––” you cut yourself off with a gasp as he brought his hands to your thighs and pulled you down directly on his mouth. “shit––”
he wasted no time, groaning as he tasted you, his tongue making its way all over your already sensitive pussy, his hands holding you down. you moaned and grabbed onto his hair with one hand and the headboard with the other.
you looked down at him, already breathless and smiled. “didn’t know you were such a giver, tommy.”
he moaned and grabbed your ass with one hand tentatively and you could tell that he was silently asking––”you can smack it if you want to.”
you could feel his lips curve up underneath you as he paused to see your reaction as his hand lifted off of you and came back down, hard––the sound echoing through the room despite the music blasting outside the door. you moaned breathlessly and smiled down at him, moving your hips in a circle.
he smacked your ass again and stuck his tongue out and you took the hint, grinding yourself down on his face. he moved his head along with you, letting you take over. he watched in awe as you swiveled your hips with purpose, pants and whines falling from your mouth as you sped up and pressed yourself down harder, tom’s hands guiding you and grabbing your ass generously as you did so.
your moans got louder and louder, your hips losing their rhythm, becoming more frantic and messy as tom helped you––soon your back was arching, eyes rolling back as your thighs trembled around his head, his lips wrapped around your clit.
you let out a shaky breath and a broken whine as tom continued to swipe his tongue through your folds. when you caught your breath, you lifted your way off of his face on somewhat shaky limbs, trying not to moan out loud at the sight of him licking his lips almost hungrily.
he sat up and gave you a sweet kiss, placing a hand on your cheek as he pulled away to look at you. “do you want to go further? we could stop right now if you want.”
you smiled, bringing a hand down to grab his bulge through his jeans, making him sigh. you leaned in so that your lips were grazing his teasingly. “i want you to fuck me tommy.” you blinked up at him innocently, “do you not want––”
he cut you off with a passionate kiss, his hands pulling you closer to him and you giggled, making him smile against your lips before pulling away to hastily undress himself. he grabbed a condom from his nightstand and stroked himself before putting it on and when he looked back at you he let out a quiet fuck.
you were lying there, your legs spread, your fingers rubbing your clit slowly, his hat on your head, as you waited patiently for him. “you’re trying to kill me, aren’t you?”
you laughed, and cheesy enough, it was like music to his ears. you tilted your head and bucked your hips, letting a quiet moan fall from your lips as you looked at him. “what do you mean?”
his eyes darkened and he quickly made his way onto the bed, pulling you closer to him by your thighs, unfortunately knocking the cap off, making you gasp lightly as you looked up into his eyes. he swiped his member through your folds, adoring the way you reacted to his touch.
“you want me to fuck this pretty pussy?”
you swallowed and nodded, “please.”
he smirked and slid himself in slowly, letting you feel every inch as he glided into your wet pussy. “fuck––” his mouth fell open at the pleasure that shot down his spine. he pulled out almost all the way before sliding back in and bottoming out and you both let out moans together at the feeling.
your hands came up to hold his biceps and with one glance at your blissed out expression, he knew he wasn’t going to last long. he pressed his thumb down on your clit, rubbing the way you needed and sped up his hips. he was grunting, panting and cursing as he chased both of your peaks.
“feel like fucking heaven, love.” you moaned loudly and he took the hint, showering you in more praise as he worked the both of you up. “so good for me, look and feel amazing. god this pussy is so wet for me. so fucking tight.”
when your nails started to dig into his arms, your legs tightening around him, he leaned over you, pressing his lips against yours as he rubbed your clit faster and pounded into you desperately.
“that’s it, cum baby.”
you kissed messily and fiercely as you both tipped over the edge, tongues and teeth clashing as you panted, moaning out as you bucked your hips together. a few more leisure pumps, and tom was pulling out, giving you a sated smile, which you happily reciprocated.
after cleaning up, putting his boxers back on and giving you his shirt to put on, you both settled into bed, his arm wrapped around your middle, your hand tracing the veins on his forearm.
his eyes were hesitant as he looked over at you. “do––do you maybe want to stay over?”
you paused, before a shy smile made it’s way to your face. “y–yeah. yeah i’d like that.”
he held you tighter and you nuzzled into him contently, ready to shut your eyes, unsure of what this meant for the two of you, but you weren’t scared to find out.

TPYH-Chapter 3: Insert Funny Title Here
Summary: Ur dad is overprotective and u prove yourself to be the insane animal lady.
Authors Note: So for a while we're just gonna get a lot of relationship build up, personal growth, animals, regular life, etc. So that I can emotionally scar y'all even more later XOXO
Another Authors note at bottom and another photo (I did not make these photos I just laugh at them)
Tumblr media
Norman strode into Otto's lab and glared at him. “What the hell was that?” He asked.
“What the hell was what?” Otto asked, taking off his goggles.
“You got too close to my daughter.”
“You heard what she went through, I was there to comfort her-” “And then what were you going to do?” Norman snapped. Otto looked at him, shocked. “I would never do anything to her Norman you know I wouldn’t.” Otto pulled him into a hug.
“I just-I just can’t lose anyone else.” Norman sniffed.
“I know… I know…” Otto patted him on the head.
“And I’m sorry I accused you of anything other than helping y/n, I mean you see her as a daughter to you, right?” Norman continued.
“...Right.” Otto lied, he didn’t know how he felt about you, but he never wanted to see you as a daughter to him, that didn’t feel right. But he knew Norman needed to hear what he wanted to hear.
“I need to start getting paid if I’m going to be the Osborne’s therapist.” Otto joked.
Norman chuckled. “You don’t want to unpack Harry’s baggage, Otto.”
Otto shook his head. “Is there anything else you need from me?”
“No. You keep on working.” Norman rubbed his eyes as he walked out. Otto gave a small smile as he put his glasses back on and continued working.
You open the door to your townhome, you forgot to tell Otto that you moved, it wasn’t like he was coming over anyway. Either way, it wasn’t your townhome, it was basically the animals at this point. Your bird, Olivia flew towards you, she was an Eclectus Parrot, with bright red feathers with dark blue undertones and a jet black beak, she reminded you of Spiderman. She climbed on top of your head and her eyes dilated as her head bobbed up and down, she was happy you were home. You smiled as she started whistling “Take on Me” you kept the radio on for her so she wouldn’t get bored, you knew she wanted treats though, you smiled as you handed her a shelled macadamia nut, hopefully, that would keep her occupied. You went into the Reptile room and took out your personal favorite animal, a ball python named Monty. You got him after your mom died, he’s been with you through it all. He wrapped around your neck and gave a relaxed puff, you went through your animals, changing their bedding, water, and food as well as enrichment. Monty would just stay draped around you, even though it was a lot of work you loved taking care of them, they were all from bad situations, and you were happy to save them and give them a better life. You set down the ball pit for the ferrets and put the chinchillas in their dust baths, you restocked the chews and put Monty away.
That was how the rest of the week went, you caught up on the National Geographic Magazines and then gave them to your animals to shred. You also got some foster kittens, they still needed to be bottle-fed so that ended up taking up a lot of your energy. Luckily Olivia loved them, as usual, she would coo and pet them, it was adorable. And your cat, Bip already decided to be their surrogate mother, you just had to monitor their health as well as feed them, it was a lot of work but you enjoyed it, you couldn’t stop working, and if you stopped taking care of them, who would? They needed you, and it felt good to be needed. You dreaded going back to work, you didn’t know how you were going to handle the treatment of their animals, ideally, there would be no animal testing. But you knew how stubborn your father was, and all you could do now was be their advocate. You looked at the kittens and Olivia, who got along well enough with the animals, but you knew she wanted to be with you. You gave a smile and grabbed your old lab coat, you wanted to wear Ottos, but yours already had a special perch for Olivia, you put it in your backpack to wear later. You tapped your shoulder and Olivia squawked excitedly as she flew to her shoulder, you put the kittens in their carrier, Bip in the other, and stuffed Olivia's foldable perch, food, water, and towels, as well as some treats in your bookbag along with the kittens heating pad, soft blankets, and bottles. You left the townhome, Olivia perched on your shoulder, the tiny kittens mewling in the carrier. You could hear Bip meow back, trying to comfort them. You sighed, you didn’t think you would be where you were now, but you just had to make the best of this.

Authors note!
So a lot of the animal stuff is based on my own experiences, I did an internship at a zoo and I'm currently volunteering at a parrot rescue so I just put a lot of animals in here because it's my story and I don't see that many animals. And I love animals so yeah.
Also here's where I get sentimental, I've been just in a strange spot mentally, emotionally, and socially. I had the cringe 13-year-old phase where I wrote fanfiction (it's deleted go away) and I never thought 5 years ago I would go back to writing fanfiction and such but it's become my way to escape again. I just needed to embrace my cringyness I guess. I'm very private about it and a lil' embarrassed but y'all make me feel better overall. Which is why a lot of the titles and summaries are just shitposts I don't know
I'm ranting so thanks idk.

Built on a Lie
Prompt: I like the possible idea of Janus being a absolutely crushed to find Roman bleeding out due to a bruised ego in his room after pof was uploaded. After all most Sander Sides Fans hated Roman after he mocked Janus's Name.
Thanks for the prompt, babe! I hope it’s what you wanted!
Read on Ao3
Pairings: arguably roceit i guess??? it’s just focused on them, can be platonic or romantic if you want. same with LAMP, DLAMP, DLAMPR
Warnings: sympathitic janus even if it might not seem like it, sympathetic feral protective remus, roman is a hurt boi
Word Count: 5010
The wedding is tough.
After the wedding is an ordeal.
After after the wedding…hurts.
The Mindscape is all but deserted. No one wants to come out to the common areas for risk of running into someone who they had…disagreements with or getting swept up in a painfully awkward conversation. Patton lingers in the kitchen, Virgil almost never opens his door, Logan works, and Remus, well…Remus is the only one still behaving as normal.
Janus is grateful for his consistency.
In all honesty, and oh, the irony, he doesn’t enjoy this. He doesn’t enjoy the others walking on eggshells constantly, nor does he thrill at how they seem to jump at everyone, not just him. His point was made. That is his job.
But he’s not so sure he fully anticipated the cost.
At the very least, Logan seems to get over their troubles first. He approaches Janus a few days after the wedding and offers one of his philosophy books. Janus accepts it gratefully and by the time he’s finished it, Logan starts talking again. It’s not the greatest thing for the Mindscape that Logan is willing to talk to the others again.
Patton comes around next, simply because he’s the kindest. Janus pities him a little for it. But sure enough, the common areas start to ring again, drawing Remus out from the depths to cause his chaos.
Virgil appears next, summoned by the repeated calling of Remus’s antics and Janus’s exasperation. And sometimes, well, sometimes it seems like they’re back in their hallway, with Patton and Logan looking on with the air of some bemused anthropologists.
All the Sides reemerge and start trying to figure out what’s going on except for Roman.
Roman is nowhere to be found.
“He…he just needs some more time, I’m sure.”
“Roman is prone to fits of dramatics. It is unsurprising that he chooses to have a repeat performance.”
“Princey’s a bit of an asshole, it’s gonna take him a while to own up to what he did.”
“Catch!”
Janus grunts and staggers under Remus’s weight, eventually getting them both with their feet back under them on the floor. He adjusts his hat and looks disapprovingly at the amount of slime Remus has managed to get all over himself.
“What were you even doing?”
“Exploring the precise relationship of viscera to ventricles inside the heart of a blue whale!” Remus shakes his sleeve. “They lied about how bit the veins and arteries are.”
“How did you—nevermind,” Janus sighs, “I don’t want to know. Now, will you answer my question or not?”
Remus shrugs. “Dunno. Not paying attention.”
“…Roman’s not or you’re not?”
“I’m not!” He flicks some slime at Janus’s hat. “But you should be!”
“Yes, well, when slime starts to emerge from every corner again, I’ll chase you down.”
“Ooh, promises, promises.”
Janus doesn’t hurl some of the slime at Remus as he sinks out.
Roman still hasn’t appeared and the others are starting to notice. Thomas isn’t exactly in a position to do a whole lot of things, but at the very least he’s not doing what he perhaps should have been capable of. Logan notices and at first, chalks it up to the fact that they are in a pandemic; lapses in peak physical and mental performance are not unexpected, but it quickly becomes clear that it’s a little more than that.
The Mindscape grows dimmer, more sluggish. Thomas doesn’t seem to want to do much of anything, let alone work.
“I don’t understand,” Patton mumbles one afternoon when they meet—sans Roman—to try and figure out what’s going on, “I know I’m having a few—um, it’s not Thomas’s feelings that are causing us problems.”
Janus doesn’t make a note of how Virgil quickly presses his arm against Patton’s shoulder.
“There are certain things that are to be expected under times of great stress,” Logan muses, “and certainly any pre-existing problems will be exacerbated, but…this was not anticipated.”
Remus cranks the chainsaw and sets about carving up a new slice of…whatever he’s working on. “We’re in a pandemic, Spectacles!”
“I am wildly aware.”
Virgil stares at the chainsaw—which is fair—then up to Remus. “You ever been in a pandemic before, Remus?”
“Nope!”
Virgil rolls his eyes. “Okay, so that makes sense. But L’s right, this feels…weird. Like we’re missing something pretty big.”
In unison, they all look towards Roman’s seat.
The room falls as quiet as it can with Remus’s chainsaw still in the background.
The big, red, overstuffed armchair looks…different, without Roman lounging in it. The blinds aren’t drawn but it looks like the coloring has faded significantly, as though it’s been out in the sun for far too long. The seams look as though they’re struggling and there’s a dark imprint on one of the arms.
It’s not a shock to Janus to discover he’s never really looked at the chair before.
“Has anyone heard from Roman,” Logan asks quietly, “since the wedding?”
Virgil shakes his head, glancing around. Patton looks down at his chest.
“You think this is Roman.” It’s not a question.
“HIs tantrums do not normally last for this long,” Logan continues, adjusting his tie, “and whilst I admit that perhaps our circumstances have contributed more than I anticipated, I do not believe that is how Roman feels.”
“Princey has been away for a really long time.”
“Thomas is starting to get hurt by it,” Patton mumbles, laying a hand on his chest, “I can—I’m starting to feel it a little.”
“So we need to get Princey’s head out of his ass again.”
Logan sighs. “Most likely.”
“I didn’t want to rush it,” Patton says, glancing at Janus, “but you guys are right. I think he’s being selfish now.”
At the word ‘selfish,’ Remus freezes.
The chainsaw splutters and dies to the floor with a heavy clunk.
“Remus,” Patton scolds, “be careful with the…”
He trails off when he notices what the rest of them have.
Remus is standing completely still—an impossibility for Remus—his head tilted back, eyes fixed on a point in the ceiling. His nose quivers, almost like a bloodhound.
His nose twitches.
His lip curls up into a snarl.
His morning star appears in his hand with a growl as he tears off toward the stairs.
“Remus? Remus!”
“Wait!”
“What the fuck is going on?”
“Remus!”
Janus closes his eyes, reaching out to see if he can tell where Remus is going. His eyes shoot open.
“Roman’s room. Now.”
Virgil grabs Logan and Patton and sinks out.
Janus tries to appear in Roman’s room only to hit something burning cold. He hisses and flinches away from it, only to realize that he hasn’t materialized properly and is stuck. The burning cold reaches further, further, into his scales, digging under them, until Janus yanks himself away and appears, panting, in the hallway outside Roman’s door.
Virgil appears too, still holding the others. “What the fuck was that?”
“Did he block us out?”
“None of us have the ability to do that, other than Thomas.”
“Did he get Thomas to block us out?”
“I don’t know!”
A loud crash jerks their attention to Remus. He raises his morning star again and drives the spikes deep into the bright red of Roman’s door.
…that isn’t nearly as bright as it should be.
Remus snarls again and wails against the door. The wood starts to creak and buckle under the onslaught. He hefts the weapon again and shatters the door with a thunderous crack.
The morning star is hastily flung aside as Remus claws at the splintered wood, yanking it away from the hole he’s made.
The door groans and yields.
Remus rushes through, Virgil on his heels. Patton and Logan attempt to follow only to run smack into both of them.
“Why’d you stop, kiddos, we can’t—“
“Let us through, why did you—“
When those two fight their way through and into silence, Janus sighs and gingerly steps through, nudging Logan and Virgil aside to look at what’s got them so shocked. Roman in the middle of a sobbing mess of tissues, probably, or an empty room signifying he’s gone off on some quest in the Imagination, or even a pouting Roman glaring at them for ruining his door.
He gets around Virgil’s shoulder and his blood runs cold. Burning cold.
If they weren’t in Roman’s room, he’s not sure he’d be able to recognize this as Roman.
His pristine white costume is stained an ugly brown. The gold trimmings fall limply off, hating on by barely a thread. His hair sticks to the floor in horrid, matted clumps. His hands are speckled and stained with more blood, some congealed and crusted from the puddle on the floor. His legs bend at awkward and uncomfortable angles. One of his arms is stretched away from, reaching for something.
Or anything.
They dare not move. They dare hardly breathe.
Remus takes a step forward. Then another. Then another. He circles the body on the floor, not caring about stepping in the blood, crouching down on the far side. His face is drawn, paler than Janus has ever seen it go, he looks sick.
If…if Remus looks this bad—
Remus looks up at the others. His face darkens.
“Explain,” he whispers, his voice low and soft and dangerous, “now.”
No one can find words to even try.
When no one says anything, Remus crouches down and, with a tenderness that shocks Janus, lays his hand on Roman’s side.
“Roman,” he whispers, almost inaudibly, “Roman, can you hear me?”
“...Re?”
“Yeah, Ro-Bro, it’s—it’s me.”
“Wha’re you…here?”
“I wasn’t paying attention,” Remus growls, looking up at them again, “maybe no one was.”
“’S fine.”
“Roman, it is about the furthest from fine that it could be.”
“…’ve had worse.”
“…okay I was wrong. That is the furthest from fine it could be.”
Judging by the way Roman’s body slumps, his eyes must fall closed again. “You c’n go. D’n’t have to stay.”
“Not on your life.”
“’S fine, Re,” Roman slurs, “the others will…wonder where you are.”
Remus stiffens. His hand tenses on Roman’s side.
“No,” he says softly, “they won’t.”
Roman twitches, his head rolling up. “‘M sorry, Re.”
“What the absolute fuck are you apologizing to me for?”
“Thought they’d…care.” Roman’s head waivers and drop back down. “‘Bout you.”
Patton can’t stifle his whimper.
Roman twitches again. “Wha…”
“They’re not gonna wonder where I am,” Remus growls, “because they’re here.”
Roman’s going to panic. He’s going to freak out and they’ll have to reassure him. Or Roman’s going to be angry and they’ll have to stop him from hurting himself. Or he won’t believe Remus and that…that might be the worst.
…Janus should really stop thinking that.
“Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why’re they here, Re,” Roman mumbles, his body sagging to the floor again, “‘m I late for s’mething?”
Remus snarls and Roman flinches.
“Don’ be mad, Re, please, ‘m sorry—“
“I’m not mad at you, Roman.”
“But you’re mad.”
“No.” Remus stares at them, his voice still even and soft. “I’m enraged.”
Before they can say anything, Roman hisses and jerks. Remus’s hands instantly flit to Roman, searching for whatever’s hurt him.
“What’s happening, Ro,” he growls, “whose ass do I need to kick?”
“You can’t,” Roman wheezes, “can’ stop it.”
“The hell I can.”
“No, you—you actually can’t,” Roman says, reaching for Remus’s hand, “help—help me sit up?”
“Ro, you’re—I don’t know if that’s a good idea.”
“’S fine.”
“I don’t think it is!”
“Please?”
Remus sighs, gingerly wrapping his arms around Roman’s bruised and bloody body. “Come on then.”
Roman’s costume clings to the floor and his back as they sit up, the stain darkening and drying on the belly of his tunic. His head lolls against Remus’s chest, breathing heavily for a moment before he finally looks up.
Oh, his face…
It’s an absolute mess. Blood and salt and other things Janus couldn’t hope to figure out cling to every scrap of skin they can as he squints at them.
“You broke my door.”
“You were in trouble,” Remus replies easily, hoisting Roman to sit properly.
Roman sighs, his breath rattling. “Did I miss a meeting?”
“We…” Logan swallows. “We just came from one.”
“Oh.” Roman closes his eyes. “I’ll…gimme a minute, I’ll—“
“You’re not going anywhere.”
“I gotta do the meeting, Re.”
“The hell you do.”
“You—you don’t have to worry about the meeting, Roman,” Logan says firmly, taking a step closer, “we—what happened to you?”
“What d’you mean?”
“What does he mean?” Virgil explodes. “Roman, what the fuck is wrong with you?”
Roman hisses again. “Don’ have to shout, Virgil.”
“Of fucking course I have to shout! Look at you!”
“I believe that might be more of a reason not to shout,” Logan says quietly. Virgil huffs, balling his hands up into fists.
“What the fuck happened, Roman,” Virgil repeats, “and don’t pretend like you don’t know what we’re talking about.”
Roman sighs again, something whistling, what happened to him?—and sits up away from Remus. “I can’ shout, come closer.”
Logan and Virgil immediately walk forward, crouching down a respectful distance away. Patton takes a moment longer, creeping forward and reaching out a trembling hand toward Roman.
“K-kiddo,” he mumbles, “I’m so—so sorry, I didn’t know—“
“’S okay,” Roman slurs, leaning back against Remus, “’s okay, Pat.”
“Patton?” Logan turns. “What do you know?”
“Yeah, Patton,” Remus growls, “why don’t you tell us.”
Patton shrinks back. “I—I—“
“Shh,” Roman mumbles, clumsily patting Remus’s hand, “don’ do that, ’s okay.”
“No, Roman, it’s not.”
“...kiddo?”
Roman nods.
Patton takes a deep breath. “You guys know that—how Roman gets hurt sometimes when Thomas does something that, uh, doesn’t turn out great?”
“We all get hurt, Pat,” Virgil says, “that doesn’t explain this.”
As if on cue, Roman hisses again.
“No, no, Virgil,” Patton mumbles, “it’s—Roman’s the only one who gets physically hurt when this stuff happens.”
Logan’s eyes widen as he looks at Roman’s injuries. “Of course…”
Despite everything, Roman smiles tiredly up at him. “Figure it out?”
“You’re the Ego,” Logan mumbles, “and thus it follows that you would get…bruised.”
“Wait, that’s a literal thing?”
“Apparently so.”
“Jeez, Princey,” Virgil mumbles, “you coulda told me.”
“You were busy, didn’t wanna give you anything else to worry ‘bout.”
“That’s not—Roman—“
“But Thomas has been inside,” Logan interjects quickly, “alone, he hasn’t—we haven’t done anything since the pandemic began.”
“It’s a pandemic, Lo,” Roman says, “no one’s doing much of anything…besides staying inside, reading things, watching things…”
“So how is this happening to you, Roman,” Patton says, wringing his hands, “what—what’s doing this to Thomas?”
“Fuck,” Virgil says, burying his hands in his hair, “Princey has this been happening to you since the wedding?”
“Mm,” Roman hums, leaning heavily against Remus.
“People are watching the video,” Logan whispers, “and they’re—well, they’re talking about it.”
“Are they—are they still saying Thomas should’ve…” Paton gulps. “Done something different?”
Logan shakes his head. “I’m sure they are but Thomas…Thomas hasn’t been looking at the comments from the video, not really. Virgil and I have specifically told him not to.”
“So then why is Thomas still being hurt by it? Why are people still attacking Thomas?”
“Not—“ their heads all jerk around to look at Roman— “not Thomas.”
He waves a hand at himself.
“Wouldn’t be like this if it were them attacking Thomas.”
“Then what—“
“They’re attacking you?” Virgil’s eyes go wide as they scan over Roman’s injuries. “Directly?”
“Mm.”
“Oh, kiddo—“
“Princey, what the hell—“
“Why didn’t you tell us? We could’ve—“
“What for?”
In response, Roman’s eyes raise slowly, and look at Janus.
Everyone else follows, looking back toward the door, realizing that Janus hadn’t moved closer with the rest of them.
Roman’s gaze isn’t cold, but it makes him feel cold.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh, no.
“My name,” Janus breathes, “it’s…they’re mad at you because of me.”
“Told you,” Roman slurs as his eyes close again, “gotta come closer. Can’ shout like this.”
Janus swallows heavily, his throat dry, clutching his cloak tightly around him as he edges closer. Roman mumbles to himself until Janus is close enough to hear him.
“There we go…” He cracks a bloodied eye open. “You’re right. They’re angry at me. Rightfully so, but…yeah.”
“Because you made fun of my name?”
They all rush forward as Roman keens, his hand flying to his gut and hissing.
“Fuck, Princey, is it—is it still happening?”
“Mhm.”
“How do we—how do we stop it?”
“Can’t,” Roman mumbles, “wasn’t lying. Nothing you can do. Not until it’s over.”
“It’s been ages since the wedding, Roman, how much longer is this going to go on?”
Roman makes a vague noise of ‘I don’t know.’
“But—but—“ Logan looks frantically back and forth between them— “surely they can’t all be angry at you, that would be—“
“They’re not,” Roman mumbles, “not all of them, but it’s—it’s most of them.”
“How is that possible?”
“Some of them really don’t like me—“ Roman hisses again— “some of them really like J-Janus or Remus or…or Logan, or Patton—“
“What?”
“What does that have to do with—“
“And some of them just think that it’s—what I did was—“ Roman stifles a whimper, biting his lip— “really bad.”
“But then why…why aren’t the rest of us being affected like this?”
“You’re not the Ego.”
Remus snarls again as Roman jerks, a new bruise blooming on the underside of his neck.
“…ow.”
“We have to get you cleaned up,” Logan mutters shakily, trying to stand.
“Not much point right now,” Roman sighs, absentmindedly nuzzling into Remus, who tightens his grip protectively around Roman, “‘m just gonna get all messy again.”
“Not if we stay with you,” Logan promises, “not if we help.”
“…don’ have to.”
“What the hell are you—“ Virgil shakes his head. “Of course, we’re gonna help you, Roman.”
Roman just looks at them and closes his eyes.
“Ro—kiddo,” Patton says, reaching out for him, “why don’t you believe us?”
“You haven’t exactly…done that before.”
“We didn’t know!”
“You did.”
Patton’s retort dies in his throat. He looks desperately around for something, anything—
Janus is in shock.
Roman…oh, Roman…Janus knew Roman was the Ego, but he didn’t—he hadn’t—
Fuck, were the bruises from what he said still there? Not—not just that awful, awful thing about comparing Roman to Remus, but…from before?
How many times had Janus hurt Roman…and hadn’t cared?
“…I’m sorry, Roman,” Logan murmurs, breaking the silence, “will you let me help now?”
Roman looks up at him. “I’ve been awful to you,” he mumbles, “you don’—don’ have to apologize.”
“Yes, I do,” Logan says, “because you’ve been wonderful to me too…and I am not blameless in this either.”
“But they don’t know that.”
“I do,” Logan says firmly, “and they will.”
The smallest smile tugs at the corners of Roman’s mouth as Logan stands up to go fetch the first aid kit.
“Princey, I—Roman,” Virgil stammers, “fuck, you—oh my god—“
“I’ve been awful to you too, Virgil.”
“And I’ve been fucking worse right back!” Virgil squeezes his hands tight. “And I—you’re the only one who gets yelled at for it. Fuck, I’m—I’m so fucking sorry, I’m gonna—can I help too?”
“…if you want.”
“I’m gonna go help Logan get the shit,” Virgil mutters, getting to his feet and tearing out after Logan.
“…oh, kiddo…”
Patton’s eyes begin to tear up.
“I thought—I thought you needed more time—“
“Don’t beat yourself up over it, Pat,” Roman manages, “it’s not fun, trust me.”
Patton’s laugh comes out more like a sob.
“I won’t hold it against you, and you can—“ Roman hisses again— “help if you want.”
“Do you think you can drink something?”
“…I’ll try.”
Patton’s gone in a flash.
Janus looks at Remus. Remus glares at him and pulls Roman closer.
“…we should…try and get some of that off,” Janus tries, “so we can see what, um…”
Remus’s stony silence as Roman starts to drift again cuts off Janus’s words.
“…Remus…”
“You are very, very lucky,” Remus whispers, cutting him off, “that I’m not about to leave my brother’s side for a long time.”
Janus nods.
“Start on the buttons,” Remus says, “at his wrists. I’m not sure how much of this we can save.”
He immediately sets to work, trying to communicate how sorry, sorry, sorry he is with every gentle brush of his fingers against Roman’s skin. Remus summons something for them to lean Roman against as they start to gingerly remove the tunic. It’s worse than Janus thought.
Roman is one big pulsing wound, little nicks here and there and varying shades of purple, red, green, yellow, all coming from one massive sore in the center of him. As they watch, more injuries appear, little bruises that make his breath hitch, and occasionally a small swipe along his ribs. As Janus works the cuff over his wrist, one of his fingers blackens and swells as it breaks.
“Oh, Roman…”
“Sit up, Ro,” Remus whispers tenderly, peeling and unsticking the tunic from his back, “okay, there we go. Are most of them…up here?”
“They all look to be coming from…that,” Janus says, indicating the giant wound, “so…”
And indeed, as they watch, Roman keens again and the wound deepens, more blood beginning to trickle out.
“Are all of these—“ Janus indicates the injuries littering Roman’s body— “comments?”
“Mm.”
“Then what—why is this one…?”
Roman’s eyes drift closed and his head lolls back.
“’Oh, Roman, thank god you don't have a mustache.”
No.
No.
“’Otherwise, between you and Remus—‘” Roman winces as the wound digs deeper— “‘I wouldn't know who the evil twin is.’”
…no…
Janus reaches out a trembling hand and lays it next to the wound. It’s…it’s warm under his touch but…wrong.
A snarl jerks his hand back and he looks up to see Remus glaring at him.
“Remus—“
“Save it.” Remus glances toward the door. “The others will be back in a moment anyway.”
Sure enough, Logan and Virgil bust through the broken door, their hands full. Logan immediately sweeps his gaze over Roman and kneels down, reaching out.
“May I touch you, Roman?”
“Mm.”
“Thank you.” Logan slots a hand gently behind Roman’s hand. “We’re going to try and get the blood off of you first, alright?”
“Mm.”
“This might sting,” Logan cautions, starting to rub an antiseptic towel down Roman’s arm, “my apologies.”
Virgil takes another one and carefully cleans Roman’s other arm, mindful of his broken finger. As they work, Patton reappears, holding a bottle of water and a glass of juice.
“Come on, kiddo,” he says softly, taking Logan’s place behind Roman’s head, “drink this for me?”
Roman manages a few sips of each.
“Good job, kiddo, there you go…” Patton glances down. “Does it seem to be stopping at all?”
As if it can hear him, the wound starts to bleed again.
“Oh, Roman…”
Logan glances between the wound and Janus, his brow furrowed.
Please, Logan, for once…don’t be so smart.
The way Logan’s eyes widen and narrow say that it’s too late.
“This one seems to be the origin,” Logan says instead, turning away, “all the others seem to stem from it.”
“Okay,” Virgil mutters, “so what’s that one?”
Janus’s mouth runs dry as Logan turns to him expectantly.
“Well,” Remus growls, “go on.”
“I don’t—what if it just makes it worse?”
“That didn’t stop you before.”
“I didn’t—“
“Oh, shut up,” Remus cuts him off, “you knew. You knew.”
“Remus—“
“You wanna know how I know that?” Remus draws away from Roman just enough to clench his fists. “Because I found you after the wedding. You were all curled up on the floor and you were so upset.”
Roman stirs. “…Re…”
“And I asked you why, and you said it was because Roman made fun of your name,” Remus continues, “and I thought: ‘huh, that feels a little weird. Where have I heard that before?’”
Patton shrinks out of Remus’s line of sight.
“Then I remembered! The courtroom,” Remus continues, a manic smile on his face, “and your little plan to make sure Roman felt like he had no idea what was going on.”
“…J, what is he talking about?”
“Oh, he’s not going to tell you,” Remus says, “but I will.”
“Remus—“
“You said that you knew Roman,” Remus says, talking right over him, “and you knew that if you pushed him in the right direction, you’d be able to get him to listen to you easily.”
Even Logan pauses.
“Do you remember what you said, Janny?” Remus’s eyes bore into Janus’s mind. “Do you?”
“…Remus, please.”
Remus’s grin drops.
“You said,” he whispers, “that if you just fucked with his name, he’d be in the palm of your hand.”
And he was.
"Conveniently, everyone seems to have forgotten that. Forgotten what you did. Or they don't care."
Remus tightens his grip on Roman.
"But not me."
Guilt presses hot and thick against Janus’s throat. Unbidden, huge, fat tears start to form in his eyes as he stares at the wound on Roman’s gasping chest. Distantly, he thinks he can hear the others muttering but all he can think about is how much of this is a lie.
Roman isn’t the evil twin.
Roman isn’t Remus.
Roman isn’t stupid.
Roman isn’t worthless.
Roman isn’t a toy or a puppet or a tool.
Roman isn’t selfish or greedy or arrogant.
Roman is hurt and scared and Janus is so, so sorry.
He lets out a growl of his own and presses his hand hard to the wound.
Lie. Lie.
This is a lie.
Truth is hard and unyielding and painful but nothing is more painful than knowing that all of this is built on a lie.
Janus grits his teeth and concentrates, his hands trembling as he presses it against the wound, searching, searching for—
There.
He closes his fist around the lie and yanks, pulling the words and the hurt and the ache out of Roman’s chest in a bright flash.
When it’s gone, Roman’s chest is heaving, bruises still littering his torso, but the big wound is nowhere to be seen.
Panting, Janus clenches his fist until the lie shatters into pieces, the shard disappearing into harmless puffs of air.
He looks back.
Logan and Patton are staring at him open-mouthed. Virgil has his hands bunched up in his hoodie. Remus just stares at him, his face unreadable.
And Roman…
Roman looks up at him, panting too, but it doesn’t feel quite so wrong anymore.
“I can’t promise that this one won’t hurt you ever anymore,” he vows, “but I can promise that it will never have that much power again.”
Roman reaches out a hand. Janus lets him pull him closer.
“For what it’s worth,” he says, “I’m sorry.”
Janus huffs. “I can also promise that you’re not nearly as sorry as I am.”
They let their eyes fall closed as Janus’s hands steady Roman, landing lightly on his sides and just resting there. Roman tips forward and his forehead lands against Janus’s.
For a second, the room just breathes.
“Can we clean you up,” Janus whispers, “the rest of the way?”
“L-Logan?”
“I’m right here, Roman,” Logan says instantly, “what do you need?”
“Can I—wanna sleep.”
“I don’t think you’ve got a concussion, so that should be alright…” Logan glances at Patton. “Let’s have you drink a little more and then you can rest, hmm?”
“Okay.”
“Come on, kiddo,” Patton coaxes, “here we go…”
As Virgil and Logan set about cleaning again, Janus runs his hands slowly over every injury he can, plucking out what little lies there are and sending them away. He can tell by the weight of Remus’s stare on him that he’s not in the clear yet, but the way Roman starts to sag slowly makes it easier.
“Alright,” Logan murmurs after a while, “I think that’s all we can do.”
“…sleep?”
“Yes, Roman, you can sleep now. Would you like us to help you to your bed?”
Roman blinks, his hand reaching out for— “Re?”
“I gotcha, Ro-Bro.”
“Re…” Roman mumbles sleepily as he all but collapses into Remus.
“…yeah I’m okay with that.”
Logan jerks his head towards Roman’s mattress. Together, they drag it down to the floor and help Remus get Roman onto it. Logan murmurs that he’s going to go put the first aid kit away, but that he’ll be right back. Patton gathers up the glasses and leaves with the same promise.
Virgil glances back and forth between Remus and Janus.
“…you guys remember that this is about what Roman needs, right?”
“Yes.”
“Yeah.”
“Okay good.”
Virgil reaches out to brush a little of Roman’s hair out of his face.
“Well, I’m not going anywhere.”
“Neither am I.”
Logan and Patton reappear at the door and slot themselves in around the mattress. Remus looks at Janus.
Janus deliberately sits between Roman and the door, something he’s seen Remus do too many times.
Remus nods.
This conversation is far from over, but right now…
Right now, Roman mumbles sleepily and grabs onto Remus’s sleeve.
There is truly so much that they never see, isn’t there? Logan wasn’t wrong, the amount of Roman that’s never been on camera is truly staggering.
Janus has let that lie of omission cause too much damage for too long.
Right now, he’s got work to do.

❤ You, with the special access, find your way into his room almost every day.
❤ The school picked out you specifically, wanting to see what you could do in terms of studying Project Kamukura. And you were prideful of your position, ready to take on a new it-thing. But quickly, it took over your entire laugh. Your sleeping habits have gotten worst and he slowly started even taking over your rare dreams.
❤ So, on your off days, you walk into his room and watch him sleep. His hair falls off the mattress, touching the ground below. This must be what tranquility feels like.
❤ But the more consistent your scheduled appointments with him face to face got, the less you needed his unconsenting presence. You were fine keeping your little secret until, one day, he felt the need to comment on it.
❤ "Why do you watch me sleep?"
❤ A nervous laugh leaves your lips. His blank, red eyes hold no accusation. You wonder if it was a genuine question. So, you treat it as one. "It helps me relax."
❤ He only nods his head, briefly, before standing up and returning to his this meeting is over side of the room. You take the hint and pack up your things.
❤ But he noticed when you stopped coming in. He knew you weren't lying, though actually realizing that it was the truth is a bit bittersweet. His presence relaxes you. How special he must be.
❤ He ends up being a little more quiet (if possible) during your next few meetings. You try to prompt him to say something, telling him stories or even trying to get him to answer a few riddles. None of it works.
❤ You can tell that he's thinking about something. He wouldn't be silent for nothing. Patience is the key to this relationship. You decide to not probe him, instead simply waiting for him to say what's on his mind.
❤ And this takes a few days. He doesn't even understand why he's suddenly so sheepish to express his thoughts. Is he anxious? Does anxiety still swell in his body? Or is it because he doesn't want to tax the relationship the two of you have?
❤ It begins to bother him. But he knows that asking is better than him lingering in this state of unknowing.
❤ You put a pencil behind your ear as you collect your notes, tired of his lack of response. The meeting is ending early. Then, he stands up and grabs your hand. You look at him.
❤ "Do you want to sleep next to me?" He asks. In the small movements of your face, he already knows your answer. That's good. He can feel the bits of stress release from his shoulders.
❤ You don't verbally answer. But you offer him a smirk, something small and telling, before turning around and exiting the room.
❤ He considers that an accomplishment.
❤ Time passes rather slow for him. When everything is boring - plus, being stuck in the same room all day, there are little things to look forward to. But this, this is interesting. A part of it makes him feel villainous. Is he taking advantage of you? Could you lose your job for this?
❤ He finds himself not caring.
❤ When you open the door that night, the outside lights pour a yellow tint into the surrounding room. His usual blue lights give a gloomy feel to his environment. The yellow engulfs your figure, and you smile at him.
❤ On the mattress, he lies with his chest facing upward. He closes his eyes in a mock sleep. You close the door behind you before sitting down at his side. From there, you place a hand on his chest. His breathing is steady. That's a good sign.
❤ And with that, you place your ear against his chest, hardly even noticing when his hand wraps around your back.
❤ His heartbeat plays in your ears. That's strange, you smile to yourself, I wasn't too sure if he had a heart.

Bucky let out a heavy sigh as he rolled over to face Steve in bed. Another night filled with restless sleep, the extra body in the bed missing making it impossible to sleep easily.
“What’s up? Steve grumbled still half asleep.
“You know what,” Bucky replied wistfully.
Steve stretches out lazily before turning to face Bucky and smiling sadly. “We had to let her go, give her a chance at a normal life. She couldn’t have that with is Buck.”
“Why can’t she have a normal life with us Steve? Everyone accepts us? We could have settled down, got married, had a few kids. No one would have questioned it.” Bucky knew the tiredness was stopping him from keeping a lid on his emotions.
“You know that’s not true,” Steve reached for Bucky’s hand and pulled it to his lips briefly, “nobody outside of the team knew about the three of us. It wasn’t fair on her, you agreed at the time too. We let her go before it got too far and we couldn’t. We had 6 happy months together, let’s just remember that.” Steve tugged on Bucky’s arm, encouraging him to come closer. Bucky shuffled over and rested his head against Steve’s chest.
“I know, I just miss her. I love her so fucking much it hurts.” Steve closed his eyes as he felt that familiar stab of pain that Bucky was talking about. Bucky was everything to Steve, they had been through so much together. But you. You were like the missing piece of their jigsaw puzzle they hadn’t even realised was incomplete. You fitted them perfectly, after everything they had been through they were happier than they had ever been but they noticed you becoming more distant, spending nights back at your own place, then suddenly it was all over.
xxx
You missed Steve and Bucky like hell. They had woven their way into your life and now that they weren’t in it, you felt lost. The first time you met them they had come into the coffee shop you were working in. Bucky’s fingers had grazed over yours as you handed him his takeout cup and Steve’s eyes met yours making your breath catch. You witnessed the pair of them having a quiet conversation and them both sitting down at a table despite ordering coffee to go. They spent the rest of the afternoon at the coffee shop, chatting away, their eyes searching you out and finding you already smiling at them warmly. When you were finally closing up they asked you to join them for a few minutes.
They explained to you that they were a couple but were interested in spending time with you. Surprisingly you weren’t put off by the idea but in fact excited, so you accepted their dinner invitation. Two weeks later you found yourself in their bed and after that a permanent feature in their lives. You spent most nights with them at the tower. On your days off you would explore New York together, looking like a couple and their friend just having a day out. Not that it bothered you. You understood why Steve was never affectionate with you outside of the tower, he kept his distance. He had only just started to feel comfortable being out with Bucky in public. Bucky was different though, he had spent too much of his life not being himself to hide any longer. He would tease you with small lingering touches, not so innocent looks whilst nobody was watching and whispering naughty thoughts in your ears as you peered into shop windows.
Everything had been going smoothly until Steve had gone on a mission that lasted longer than expected. Before that point you hadn’t slept with either of them without the other being there or joining in. But during this week Bucky felt himself getting more and more stressed and in need of release so he called Steve and asked if it would be ok for you and him to sleep together. Steve agreed at the time but when he got back from his mission to find you and Bucky curled up with each other on the sofa his face told a different story. Of course, you instantly panicked believing you were driving a wedge between them which was the last thing you wanted to do. After you voiced you concerns to Bucky he told you that you were being daft but Steve’s demeanour changed around you.
From that point you began to distance yourself from the both, you made excuses to avoid spending time with even though it made you miserable. In that short 6 months you had fallen insurmountably in love with them but realised it had to end. Bucky and Steve were meant for each other, you cared about them too much to come between them. And after one short, teary discussion between the three of you it was over. You made your excuses about needing the chance to have a normal life where you could be open about your relationships, have some proper stability. It was all lies of course, something to avoid having to tell them the truth and potentially cause them more pain. Neither of them fought or argued with you, they looked a little ashamed but ultimately let you go.
Truth be told you missed all of the people from the avenger’s tower; Sam and Nat had become good friends of yours. They had tried to contact you after you left but you ghosted them, unable to have any sort of connection to anyone linked to Bucky and Steve. Your life seemed quieter, mundane and as you cleaned the coffee machine up for closing time you didn’t even notice when a new customer came in.
“Y/N?” the soft voice snapped you out of your thoughts.
“Sam? What are you doing here?” you said moving towards the counter. “You want anything making?”
“Only if you’ll join me,” he smiled.
“I can’t. I need to close up and clean.” You could tell by the way his eyebrows raised that he wasn’t going to fall for your attempt to get rid of him.
“How about this. You lock up and I’ll help you tidy up. It’ll give us a chance to talk, I miss talking to someone who isn’t over 100 or a trained assassin.” Sam knew he had won when you burst out laughing.
“Fine, but only because I don’t want to clean up this place on my own,” you stuck your tongue out at him as you walked over to the door, clicked the lock shut and turned over the sign indicating you were now closed.
You and Sam chatted away for the next 30 minutes talking about this and that, both delaying the inevitable topic of the two super soldiers. You handed Sam his payment of a cappuccino and you sat down in an armchair opposite him, nursing your cup of tea.
“So, you gonna ask me how they are?” Sam asks an amused tone to his voice.
“Sam, I-“ he shakes his head at you.
“I’m gonna tell you anyway. Y/N they’re not good, they really miss you even if they won’t admit it to us. Bucky is miserable, he barely laughs, makes a joke. Hell, he has even stopped teasing me. For some reason he only wears this one red t-shirt all the time, he is refusing to wash it. Like it actually smells now. And Steve. Steve is worst. His mood swings would put an adolescent teenager to shame. One minute he is snapping at everyone, breaking open punch bags and the next he weirdly calm and this look of despair just washes over him.” Sam’s eyes fixed on your face.
His words had clearly had an impact, making him feel instantly guilty. Your bottom lip wobbling, eyes full of tears threatening to spill over. He jumped up out of his seat and wrapped a comforting arm around you. At this the damn broke and you descended into sobs.
“Shit, I’m sorry Y/N,” Sam crooned softly, taking the hot tea out of your hand and placing it on the table. “Take a couple of deep breaths for me,” he instructed. Once you had finally had your breathing back under control and wiped away your tears, he finally released you and sat back down opposite you.
“I’m sorry Sam,” your voice croaky and raw from the crying. “I just miss them, I don’t feel like myself anymore. It’s like I’m hollow, does that sound crazy?”
“No, it doesn’t Y/N, I felt the same way when Riley died. The difference is they didn’t die, you could have them back in your life if that’s what you want?” he said solemnly.
“I would go back to them in a heartbeat Sam, but I just don’t think that’s what they both want,” you twisted the ring around your index finger.
“Did you not hear what I told you earlier? They’re lost without you,” Sam was thoroughly confused. His plan had been to try and talk you around to help you realise what a big mistake the three of you had made.  Nat was having a similar conversation with Steve and Bucky right now, informing them what she had found out by following you around for the last week or so since you’d left. But now Sam had a feeling that there was a bigger issue at hand.
“I heard you but they’ll learn to live without me. They love each other completely, I don’t think there is room for me in all of that.” It was the first time you had admitted the truth aloud, it stung but it felt good to have finally got the big weight off your shoulders.
“That’s the biggest pile of bullshit I have ever heard,” Sam scoffed. Your head shot up immediately, your mouth open in shock. “You can’t seriously believe that?”
You were quiet for a minute, not sure how to respond. “You don’t know them like I do,” you replied quietly.
“You’re right, in some ways I know them better. I knew them before you, they were happy but it was nowhere near what they were like when you were with them,” he folded his arms content that he had won.
“See that’s where your wrong Sam. You remember that mission that Steve went on, every little thing that could go wrong did. Well when he got home something was different, he was more guarded around me. I think it was because me and Bucky got closer whilst he was away, he didn’t want me anymore. I was getting in the way,” you reasoned.
“Y/N, I was on that mission with him. We went through absolute hell and back. I was distant from everyone for a while. Did you know he nearly died?” he looked at the way your eyes widened to find the answer to that question. “So, no then. Well he did and do you know what he said to me?” You shook your head. “I’m quoting here. ‘Tell them both I love them. Tell Bucky to look after our girl’. If you were really getting in the way, why would he say that?”
You sighed. “I don’t know. But he didn’t stop me from leaving.”
“Did you tell them the real reason why you were leaving?” Sam asked already knowing the answer.
You shook your head.
“And people call me an idiot?” he scoffed.  “Of course they let you go if that’s what they thought you wanted. You need to talk to them or at least see them and find out the truth.”
You picked up your tea and took a long gulp to avoid responding to Sam’s suggestion.
“Well whatever you decide you’re going to have to see them this weekend anyway?” he said smugly making you choke and cough as the now lukewarm liquid went down the wrong way.
“Sam what the fuck?” you managed to get out in between spluttering coughs.
“It’s my birthday party on Saturday, you promised you’d come ages ago.” He folded his arms at grinned.
“That was before,’ you stammered. “Besides, I’ve already said I’ll work another shift.”
“Liar,” he said getting to his feet. “Nat will come to yours and pick you up around 7. Think about what I’ve said Y/N. They really do miss you.”
You stood up followed him as he walked to the door. “Ok I’ll think about it. Don’t think I have much choice about Saturday, do I?”
Sam wrapped you up in a bear hug. “Nope, absolutely none.”
After you had locked up after Sam you sat back down and tried to process everything. Sam’s words played over in your head. There was no doubt that Bucky was missing you; he was wearing the shirt of his that you had slept in the last night you spent with them. It was Steve you were more sceptical about. If what Sam had really said was true then maybe Steve did care for you more than he let on. Perhaps some part of him doubted your affection and loyalty to them. There was no way to be sure except to see them. You just didn’t know if you were ready for that.
xxx
Nat showed up a whole two hours early with an array of outfits for you to pick from. She wouldn’t let you get something old and familiar out of your closet, she was determined to get you dressed up and into the party spirit. She only succeeded at one of those and by the time you both pulled up to the tower you were a complete bag of nerves.
“Will you quit fidgeting, you’re making me nervous,” Nat scolded you.
“Sorry,” you mumbled before pulling up the front of your dress. “Why a sleeveless dress Nat? They are so impractical.”
“Well -” she paused to twist the thin satin material at your hip, repositioning the perilously high thigh split, “- that may be true but I can guarantee one thing, those boys will certainly realise what they have been missing.”
You frowned at her and gave one final look over your appearance in the elevator mirror before the door pinged open into the loud and bustling party. She took your hand and led you to the bar where you were greeted by Sam who promptly handed you a drink. You knocked back the amber liquid quickly in an attempt to sooth your nerves, before anxiously scanning around the room for any sign of the two men you both longed and dreaded to see.
“Relax Y/N, they’re not here yet,” Sam leaned over and whispered in your ear. He gave you a small reassuring smile which mixed with warmth the alcohol was providing finally made you relax a little. Nat and Sam caught you up on everything that happened and the latest avenger’s gossip.
“Hey kid, we missed you. How’ve you been?” Tony walked up to you, his purple tinted glasses nearly falling of his nose as he threw his arms out to embrace you.
“Ok thanks,” you said quickly. “Great party as always Tones.”
“Well we have Mrs Stark to thank for that.” He turned to face Sam. “They’re gonna short-circuit when they find out she’s here,” Tony uttered, half amused before walking over to greet some other guests.
You rounded on Sam. “You didn’t tell them,” your voice low as you tried to control your emotions.
“Not exactly,” he shrugged. “Well guess we’re going to find out any second now,” he smirked at the entrance over your shoulder.

Bucky looked around the room, wishing at that moment that he could be anywhere else. He was walking towards the bar when he realised Steve was no longer walking next to him.
“Stevie?” he turned around searching for Steve and spotted him stood stock still, his eyes fixed on something across the room. Bucky walked back towards him and put his hand on his shoulder.
“Steve?” he said starting to get a little worried, he looked like he had seen a ghost. Bucky followed his line of sight and his eyes met yours across the crowded room. His breath caught in his throat and he could feel his heart pounding against his rib cage. He had thought of this moment every day since you had left and now that it was here he couldn’t quite believe it.
“Is she really here Buck,” Steve’s voice was barely above a whisper.
Bucky blinked and turned to Steve. “I think so. Steve, we have to …”
“I know” Steve said as he took Bucky’s hand and squeezed it.
When the men turned back around you had disappeared from sight. You saw them frantically searching for you but you had managed to tuck yourself behind a group of shield agents. At the sight of them part of you wanted to run to them and throw your arms around them and never let them go but there was still doubts niggling away in your mind. One thing was for certain, Sam was right. Bucky did look sad and Steve. Well Steve was the one you hadn’t ever been able to get a read on before and still couldn’t now.
“Y/N seriously, hiding from them?” Nat shook her head at you.
“Well you found me so I’m clearly not hiding am I,” you sassed.
“You certainly won’t be in a minute” she smiled deviously before standing on her tip toes and waving at the two super soldiers.
“I fucking hate you Nat,” you hissed.
“No you don’t. If you’re still planning on hiding I would move now, they’re on their way.” You stuck your middle finger up at her and then scarpered. Sure, you were going to have to face them at some point tonight but you planned on having at least another couple of drinks before that.
Mid-way through your first vodka and coke a tall red-headed man approached you and Bruce as you were chatting at the bar.
“Hi, I was wondering if you wanted a dance. Seems a shame to be hiding that dress over here at the bar,” Bruce bit back a laugh as did you at the corny line but none the less you agreed.
You let the man who introduced himself as Tom, take your hand and lead you to the dancefloor. Thankfully the song was slow so you didn’t have to worry about your dress slipping down. Tom placed his hands lightly on your waist as you held onto his shoulders, gently swaying to the music.
Midway through the song he leaned over and whispered quietly in your ear. “Do you have any idea why the winter soldier looks like he wants to kill me?”
Your grip on his shoulders tightened. “Bucky,” you corrected. “No, I have no idea,” the tone of your voice sharp. As you spun around your eyes landed on Bucky who was gripping onto the glass tumbler in his hand so tightly you were surprised it hadn’t smashed. It was often that you saw this side of him but it sent a shiver down your spine. Your eyes sought out Steve who you assumed would be with Bucky but you couldn’t find him.
“Mind if I cut in?” a familiar voice spoke softly whilst still managing to carry an air of absolute authority.
Tom stood still and turned to look up at the blonde man. “Sure thing Sir,” he stuttered, “thanks Y/N,” and with that Tom backed away and nearly ran from the dancefloor.
“That was mean,” your hands fell to your hips as you scowled at Steve. “Plus, do I not get a say in this?” His blue eyes flashed with panic briefly but then that classic Steve Rogers look of determination reappeared.
“So, what do you want Y/N?” you could sense the double meaning behind his question. “Because I know what I want Y/N,” he continued, his blue eyes boring into yours taking a step closer.
“Steve I…” you closed your eyes and bit down on your bottom lip trying to find the words you wanted to say. A calloused hand cupped your jaw and you opened your eyes as Steve traced the tender flesh of your lower lip. The sound of the party disappeared and all that remained in that moment was you and Steve. Instinctively you pressed your hand on top of Steve’s and inched yourself closer to him.
“I wish this were simpler Steve but it’s not,” you hadn’t even realised you were crying until Steve removed his hand and quickly wiped away the tears rolling down your cheeks.
“This was never going to be simple Y/N. But all I know is that I love you. These last few weeks have bit a shit show. I didn’t say it enough before but if you’ll have me then I will spend every day showing you exactly how much.”
“What about Bucky?” you asked quietly.
“What about me doll?” Bucky had walked up to the pair of you, a lop-sided grin on his face.
“You two are meant to be together. I don’t want to get in the way of that,” you looked from Bucky’s face to Steve’s.
“You can’t seriously think that Y/N,” Steve said moving forward to try and get closer but you took a step back.
“I know that when you came back from that mission everything felt different,” your voice cracked as you tried to make Steve understand.
Steve’s face fell at your words. “I was scared Y/N. I realised on that mission how important you were. How much we needed you. When I saw you when I got back with Buck, I realised that you deserved so much more than someone who might not come home one day. You’re worth more than that. I was scared you were going to figure it out and leave. So, when you started pulling away I let you because I thought that was what you wanted, what would make you happy. Even if it meant we weren’t,” Steve rubbed the back of his neck.
“And you,” you rounded on Bucky, “did you think the same thing?”
“Y/N you didn’t seem happy and I thought we were to blame; doesn’t that sound familiar?” he was right of course. “All I know is it sounds as if you have been as miserable as we have. Doll, we’re not us without you. We’re a team. You, me and Stevie. We’re all yours if you’ll have us?” he shrugged.
“Maybe you need us to convince you?” Steve closed the distance between you and pressed his lips to yours with a softness you hadn’t expected. You felt yourself melt against him as his hands found the nape of your neck and held you to him, your lips moving against his as you became reacquainted.
When he finally managed to tear himself away from the sweet taste of your lips, his cheeks were flushed and his ragged breath matched your own.
“My turn,” Bucky stepped over, his hand moving to the back of your head as he crashed his lips to yours. The intensity of the kiss had both of you moaning against each other’s mouths. You wrapped your arms around him, not wanting to let go but you had to eventually.
You stood breathless looking between the two super soldiers who owned your heart, your mind made up.
“Yes,” you smiled.
Bucky was grinning like a kid of Christmas morning but Steve didn’t allow himself to celebrate to soon. “You sure about this Y/N because we won’t ever let you go again,” he said.
“I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life,” and you meant it. You couldn’t imagine a version of your life without Bucky and Steve in it. “Now get over here,” you giggled at the look of pure joy on Steve’s face.
Steve was on you in a second, picking you up off your feet and pressing kisses all over your face. Bucky came up to the pair of you and took you out of Steve’s arms to repeat the whole process all over again before leaning over to give Steve a quick kiss.
Bucky finally slid you down his body back onto the floor and Steve cupped your cheek and was about to lean down to kiss you again until Sam interrupted.
“Um guys, as much as I am enjoying the reunion maybe you wanna, you know, take this somewhere a little less...” Sam waved his arm around at the crowd of people around you.
You hid yourself in embarrassment behind Bucky’s shoulder. “Sorry” your voice muffled by Bucky’s suit jacket, but you knew it was loud enough for them to both hear it.
Steve laced his fingers with yours and pulled you to face him. “What are you sorry for doll,” he stroked the side of your cheek with the back of his finger.
“I know you didn’t want people to know about us,” you looked down at the floor.
“I got nothing to hide doll. I love both of you and that’s all that matters,” he squeezed your hand and turned to Bucky. “Let’s get outta here.”
“Been waiting all night for you to say that Punk,” Bucky grinned.
He took your other hand and lead you and Steve out of the party. None of you caring what people may have been saying about the three of you, only caring about the fact that you were all together again, just how it was meant to be.

February 14th
It was the morning of Valentines Day, finally. It felt like it had taken forever to finally arrive. But you found yourself somewhat disappointed that it did. As you lied in your bed, staring up at the ceiling, you couldn’t help the uneasy feeling that had taken over.
No matter how much you loved the Avengers, and how open minded you were trying to be, you knew that there was only one person you had feelings for. One person that you desired your admirer to be above all others. And of course, this one person was the one you probably should not have feelings for, and was the one person who you knew it wouldn’t be.
You knew this, and you knew he was gone again, but you still had a tiny glimmer of hope beneath the disappointment and anxiety. You tried to ignore it, knowing that the longer you held onto that hope, the more disappointed you would be in the end.
Finally getting out of bed and on with your day, you tried your best the shove the anxiety away and out of mind. Not wanting to worry about it until you absolutely had too.
- - -
The rest of the day went by much quicker than you had anticipated, your anxiety was growing as you stood in the elevator with Wanda, Natasha, Clint and Vision on the way up to the party. You eyed the others, your thoughts busy with who it could be. You hadn’t said much to any of them, and you knew that they noticed. You wondered if they knew why, if they understood how you felt.
As you entered into the room, already full of people who had arrived early just the make sure they got in. For the first time you felt a bit comforted, knowing that you could hide among the crowd, distract yourself, well, until you couldn’t.
Quickly parting from the group you walked towards the crowd looking for others you knew that weren’t the Avengers. But before you could get far, you felt someone grab your arm. Turning, you see Natasha, with Clint right behind her.
“What?” you asked, concerned.
“Are you okay?” Clint asked.
You hesitated for a moment “No” you said, your voice quieter than you meant.
Natasha shared a look with Clint before they got closer to you “This is about your admirer right?” You stared at her, nodding lightly “Yeah I thought so.”
“I don’t know if I can handle it anymore Nat. At first it was...sweet and exciting, but...the more I think about it, the more I...” you couldn’t quite put into words what you wanted to say. Would they understand if you told them who you really wanted it to be?
“You can’t picture yourself with any of them can you?” she asked.
“Only one. And they are the least likely.” you admitted.
“Loki” Clint said suddenly you looked at him with surprise.
“How did you know?”
“Oh come on Y/n, I’ve seen the way you are around him, and I’ve seen the way he is around you, your the only one of us he actually likes. Maybe it’s not as unlikely as you think.”
Looking at Nat you could tell form her face that she must have known too, you sighed “He hasn’t even been here. I’ve seen him maybe two times in the last week Clint.”
Clint and Natasha shared a look before Nat spoke “Okay, look, when he showed up with Thor that day you got hurt in the lab, and found what happened. He was angry as hell, and though he didn’t show it, I think he was scared. And, I’m pretty sure he spent a few hours in your hospital room when no one else was around.” she admitted making your heart begin pounding.
“He did?” you asked in surprise “I didn’t even know he knew about what happened.” you thought about it for a moment “But, we are friends, that- it doesn’t mean anything, it still doesn’t change the fact that he hasn’t been around, and he sure as hell isn’t here.”
Nat looked behind you “Maybe he is.”
Turning and following her line of sight, you see Thor entering the room, greeting everyone with a loud and cheerful voice. Your heart started beating in your chest. Did he come too?
Upon seeing you, Thor approached the three of you greeting you all. “Hey Thor, did Loki come?” Clint asked for you.
“Loki?” Thor laughed “Of course not. You know how much he dislikes Tony’s parties” he laughed again.
You looked at Clint and Natasha with a face of ‘I told you so.’ before sighing out “It’s good to see you Thor, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go get something to drink.” you asked before walking away, giving a parting look to Natasha and Clint.
Walking through the crowd, you left the room instead of getting a drink, you just wanted to leave. All you were now was confused. What if Loki liked you? But it still seemed unlikely that he was the one who left the flowers and notes. So what if you would have to choose. Break your admirers heart to be with Loki?
Finding a empty sitting room closed off from the party-goers, you walked over to a large window and stared out at the city. Maybe it was best you weren’t with anyone? Say no to your admirer, and no to Loki. That way there wouldn’t have to be choosing one over another.
You began to think about your relationship with Loki. You started as enemies, and then, when you heard about what happened with the dark elves, and then with Hela and Thanos, you thought he changed. Finally meeting him over a year ago, when you helped Thor and his people find a new home. He was charming and funny. Not the ruthless villain you thought he originally was. He changed. He was still mischievous and did questionable things, but over all, he was good. And you told him so enough, especially when he doubted himself.
And eventually, you became friends. He told you a lot things that he never even told Thor. And in return you told him your secrets and desires. You bonded over having forever as immortals to be who you truly wanted, to do the things you truly wanted. Was it too good to be true, for him to have grown more than just fond of you?
Through your busy thoughts, you heard a quiet noise behind you, the door? Turning around, you see the door is still closed, and there is no one in the room. But you definitely heard something. You looked around the room as you took a few steps into the middle of the room “Hello?” you asked cautiously.
Hearing another noise behind you, and seeing the light of something brighten the room slightly, you spun around, seeing a bouquet of beautiful red roses appear on the table by the window. You stared at them in awe before being startled by a voice behind you.
“Do you like them?”
Spinning back around, you see Loki standing behind you, small smile on his face, surely due to your shocked reaction. “Loki?” you asked, exasperated “It was you” you said with an air confirmation.
“Yes. Are you surprised at this?” he asked, cocking his head slightly.
You let out an exasperated breath “Well...yes, I mean. You haven’t even been here.”
“Not that you knew of you mean?” he said with a smirk “I am a sorcerer you know.”
“So you just used your magic?”
He shrugged slightly in confirmation before he took a few steps closer to you “It seemed easier that way. Less suspicious. I mean, if I were to suddenly show up the same day you began receiving those gifts, and then never left...” he trailed off as he continued to watch you as he stopped in front of you “It would be too easier to figure out.”
You stared at him, unsure of what to do “Did you really mean those things you said in your notes?”
A small, almost melancholy smile appeared on his face “Of course I did, I’m sorry you even have to question it.”
“I just...all this time, no matter how much my...feelings for you changed, I thought you only saw me as a friend.”
“Not only” he shook his head “But so much more. A friend, confidant, a partner in crime”  he smirked, surely referring to the small pranks you had helped him pull around the tower in previous visits “And, the one person in all my life, that I could truly picture myself loving unconditionally. You believe more than the others that I can be good, and you are the one person I truly want to be good for.”
You became somewhat breathless as the sincerity in his voice, the way he was speaking was similar to the many confessions he had made about his past to you in secret, in confidence. “Loki-”
He cut you off by bringing his hands to your face “I love you Y/n.”
You brought your hand up and placed it on top if his, burying your face a little deeper into his palm as you looked into his eyes “I love you too Loki.”
He let out a shaky breath filled with relief as a smile grew on his face as he stroked your face with his thumb, pulling you closer to him and into a deep passionate kiss, sealing the confession permanently.
When you pulled away, he continued to stare into your eyes with a smile, that you returned. He spoke quietly “Come with me.”
“Where?”
“Anywhere you want to go, I’ll take you to see the universe if you’d like, as long as it’s by my side.”
You smiled widely at him “How about everywhere?”
He smiled brightly, the thought of travelling the universe with you filling him with excitement “Everywhere it is.”

Some Years Ago . . .
“I love you.”
“I love you too...but-
“But what.” His words was not a question, but a command. A command to know her reasoning.
“I...I told you...I’m good to mess around, be involved but...” her hand caressed his face gently. The man leaned into her warm, soft skin, closing his eyes as a crestfallen look slid upon his face.
“Don’t say it-” he breathed softly.
As much as she wanted to comply to his request, though it was more of a demand, reality was the giant hurdle she simply couldn’t jump over. Going around would be cheating and running into it would do nothing to affect anything positively. Her only choice was to give up, for she’d tried and tried to jump over it for so damn long, her legs felt as though they were about to give out.
The moment was almost poetic, in a depressed, melancholy way. A single tear slipped from her eye before she sniffled and tore her hand from his face. “I have to leave soon. One of the consequences to that is that I can’t afford to fall in love. Not now, probably not ever. Especially not with someone...like...like...”
“Like me.” His eyes opened and the softness faded from his blue orbs. The feeling of tenderness no longer filled the air around them.
“No- not like that! It’s-”
“Yes, like that. If that’s how it is, if you believe I’m like the ones you hunt...so be it.”
The waterworks did their job and the dam broke, for she was unable to stop herself. “What? I-”
“Leave,” he hesitated, but not for long, turning his back on the woman he once loved, “before I tear your throat out.”
Present Day
“Where are we?” Y/n rubbed the tiredness out of her eyes, just waking up from a long nap that had lasted most of the drive. The last thing she remembered was curling up in the backseat and closing her eyes. Now, the car was somewhere new. It was familiar, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
“On our way to New Orleans. We have a mission, remember?”
“Name sounds familiar.” She sighed, still stuck on digging through her memory. “How long until we stop?”
“Not that long, sweetie.” Dean assured her. He met her eyes through the mirror, a chuckle erupting from his throat when she raised her brow to the nickname. “We’ll wake you when we get there. You should rest some more.”
It took one second for her to shut her eyes and drift back into unconsciousness. This time, though, her sleep was not as pleasant. Somewhere, deep inside her, she knew what lied in New Orleans. And that part of her dreaded what was to come.
Tumblr media
They arrived at a mansion of sorts, parking in the closest spot they could, which was hard due to the rowdy street. The Winchester brothers found it amusing, the cheeriness of the natives, the tourists itching to see every bit of what they thought was some normal place. Y/n, however, made the connection the second she laid eyes on the French Quarter.
“C’mon, we’re supposed to go inside this place.” Sam double checked the paper in his hand before nodding up to the gated mansion. Y/n’s eyes doubled in size, it felt like her heart dropped to her stomach.
“There?”
He nodded slowly but brushed it off as though she was simply making sure. A shudder ran through the three of them when they stepped onto the property. Everything felt off. The energy. The scent. The sight that greeted them;
Sam cringed, perturbed as the grotesque sound of fangs ripping into flesh became the only sound in the room. Noticing both the discomfort on the Winchesters’ faces and the uncomfortably familiar person they were staring at, Y/n took charge.
“Sorry to interrupt your meal, but we have some shit to do, and questions to ask.”
Klaus’ head turned, his body tense like a snake coiling to pounce on the oblivious little mouse. However, the second his eyes met Y/n’s, he relaxed, only for a second. Then his better-than-thou demeanor returned his infamous cheeky grin slipped upon his blood-stained lips.
“I thought I told you to leave, little mouse.” That’s what she was to him. Just another little creature for him to savagely drain.
What he didn’t know, was that over time, she became what was known as a wolf in sheep’s clothing, ironically. Spending most of her life with the Winchesters impacted her a lot, but after cutting Klaus from her life and spending more time with the brothers, she toughened up dramatically. “Yeah but then you hired us to rid ‘your city’ of some supernatural vermin, but the only vermin I see is you.”
“Feistier now, I love it. Pleasure to see you again, Y/n/n.” Rebekah descended from the staircase, a genuine smile on her painted lips as she greeted her old friend. “And you picked up some better friends. I knew I liked you for a reason.”
“Better as in not Klaus?” She asked. Then Y/n met the man in question’s eyes and held a bitter smile. “Couldn’t agree more.”
“Finally, someone sees my point. Anyways, I’ll guide you to my part of the problem while Nik discusses his with the boys.” The blond was quick to pull Y/n away and up to her room, pulling out a drink before she would actually take her to see what was in the Mikaelson cellar.
Without Y/n, the tension had thickened. More specifically, the tension between the two men who had ever loved her. Dean’s unspoken feelings and Klaus’ romantic trauma were unbeknownst to each other, but Klaus was no fool. He could pick up on Dean’s feelings from a mile away, and he was feeling rather petty at the moment.
The mischief in this expression grew a dangerous amount. “You and I are the same, friend.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, Dracula.” He held the look of disinterest.
Klaus gave an acknowledging nod to Dean’s jest-like-quip. “Sure you do. While we are of different species,” he paused, the corners of his mouth nearing his eyes with each second the passed by, “we are interested in the same prize.”
Dean began to sweat, informing Klaus that he did indeed know the subject of the matter, but still, he avoided giving into the antagonizing hybrid. “Nice to meet a man who likes his sandwiches, right Sammy?”
“I- ...What?”
“No, no. While it would be nice to get a bite of her, taste her sweet blood, I find it wouldn’t be as appetizing to you as it is to me?”
Sam stepped forward, “Back off, dude. Dean isn’t a vamp, and Y/n isn’t gonna be your next meal.”
“That’s not quite what I meant...” He tilted his head, his eyes narrowing and grin not yet faltering. “Sammy, is it?”
“It’s Sam to you.” Dean grumbled. “Look, Y/n can choose on her own.”
“Agreed.” Niklaus nodded. His lips were forming another word, but Dean interjected at record speed.
“But she has a brain, so don’t expect her to choose your fanged ass.”
“Dean!”
“Sam!”
“Enough.” Klaus’ playfully sinister expression dissipated into pure agitation. “It may be that she can choose with her own free will, but she has already chosen me once, who’s to say she wouldn’t be opposed to choosing me again?”
The hybrid’s cruel smile returned to his face as Dean visually tensed. Dean’s jaw and fists clenched. Had Sam not grabbed his arm, Dean probably would’ve swung at the cocky man in front of him. “We have some business to do, if you don’t mind showing us?”
“Ah, yes, right this way please.”
Tumblr media
Rebekah’s, really Hayley Marshall and the werewolves of the Bayou’s, problem was solved, leaving Klaus’ to be taken care of before the three could return home. He drove them to some woodsy area, ushered them out of the car, and from then on, they walked. The four of them tried to stay together the best they could, but every now and then the group would drift slightly.
Another drift happened, Sam closer to Klaus who was leading the way. This was it. A free moment to ask. Dean had to take advantage of it. He neared Y/n cautiously before whispering in her ear, “Is it true?”
Y/n furrowed her brows in confusion. “Is what true?”
“That you and the Count,” he nodded his head in Klaus’ direction, “were up close and personal?”
“What?”
“Ya know... You guys were bangi-”
Y/n’s face scrunched, “No! I know what you meant- I just- Who told you that?”
“Mr. Wolf himself.”
Her expression morphed into one of rage. “What else did he tell you?”
Tumblr media
Y/n grabbed Klaus’ arm, making Dean’s jaw clench and Klaus smile wickedly. She harshened her grip and planted her feat, telling him to stay behind with her. Dean threw a glance over his shoulder to Y/n but continued forward with Sam when she nodded reassuringly.
“I see, you really aren’t opposed to more-”
She rolled her eyes and let go of his arm to turn and face him. Although Klaus’ grin grew at her actions, it fell when he was shoved backwards. “Why the fuck are you such a dick?!”
“I’ll take that as a compliment, love. The worst of them all is what I’ve always aimed to be.”
“Of course you have.” Another eye-roll. She was tired of his bullshit. It followed her for years, then she finally had other things on her mind, but here it was again. “Just tell me, why on earth you would bring up our relationship out of the blue. You were the one who spat on my heart, were you not?”
“That’s hardly the case! You broke my own when you said ‘but’ after claiming to love me!”
Red clouded her vision. “I did love you! Just...” Y/n tried to calm herself. “Tell me why you did it.”
“Couldn’t help myself. Perhaps I was jealous.”
Y/n scoffed. “Jealous? What’s there to be jealous of?”
“You really don’t see it?” He chuckled.
“See what?”
“I think your friend Dean got the point pretty quickly.”
The gears grinded, a mere moment passing by before- “What?! No- He doesn’t... Does he?... Even if he does...why...” It wasn’t the only thing that clicked. “You fucking asshole! Is this why you hired us? To get a rise out of the man I love?”
“On the contrary, I do have a rather annoying problem with some supernatural being, however, like I said, I couldn’t help but watch the envy in your little crush grow with each story I shared.”
Y/n shifted on her feet, furrowed her brows, and sighed heavily. “Lets catch up then. But once we deal with it, I want out of your life, and you out of mine.”
“Wha-”
“I said, we’re doing what you hired us to do, and then we’re gone.”
“Ar-”
“Yes! Yes, I’m fucking sure, Klaus! I never wanted to come back here anyways. You hired us, we responded. You wanna know why I’m pissed right now? Well, for one, you threatened me when I said I had to leave, then now, you had the fucking nerve to pick on Dean the second you noticed his feelings towards me when I’m not yours to be jealous over. You riled him up over something I try to forget.”
Her words made him flinch, tears leaving his eyes. “Do you really mean that?”
“Yes.” She took a second for her tone to sink in, then turned back toward the boys, who were becoming smaller and smaller in the distance. “We’re finishing our case. When we’re done, I plan on living a happy life with Dean by my side, doing cases with him and his brother, maybe having a kid or two, and never, I mean never this time, seeing you ever again.”
Then, with one final shake of her head, she ran off to join the Winchesters. To say her words were easy to take in would be bullshit. And, she sighed, Klaus was full of that.

....... anon............ im ngl........... im feeling a series for this one :o UR MIND 🤩 okay some of these titles are funny but the last title you sent ties a lot up rlly nicely??? and um. since i am in love with jay (loml) i think i will make these for jay <33 im seeing a lighthearted college au bc everyone knows im a slut for college aus :/ sorry
also sorry idk why most of these got so angsty LMFAO :’D
gorgeous gorgeous girls love soup
you don’t take the whole sorority girl thing that seriously. you don’t even care about the feud that delta sigma theta has against omega phi gamma; your gripe with jay park lies solely in the fact that he’s an insufferable asshole who nearly got you suspended for starting an argument at your charity ball. now, though, you both have to volunteer at the soup kitchen together for the next two months.
you thought your issues with this arrangement would be the fact that you couldn’t stand jay, but now things are different when you get to know jay better. and maybe it’s a little hot that he’s part of a band. for once, you think you can tolerate the guy, and maybe—just maybe—you might be catching feelings.
never have i ever
to no one’s surprise, you and jay are a thing, and everyone’s relieved that your only gripe with each other is being deemed as spongebob and patrick by your organizations. now, you and jay don’t really do things, but nevertheless, you test out being exclusive.
however, a game of never have i ever has you both questioning whether you two will truly work out. more specifically, the prompt “never have i ever been in love” kicks you in the ass (and jay in the heart).
strawberries and cigarettes
getting close to jay makes you vulnerable, you realize. thus, you both formulate a set of rules to keep your affairs strictly “no strings attached.” said strings start to fall apart at the seams, and you find yourself growing more and more attached to jay. you think this might actually be love.
there’s a problem, though. you don’t want to be in love, and you certainly don’t want to open your heart to jay park. you have to break his heart before he writes more songs about you.
back to square one
at the ripe age of sixteen, you learned that people will always disappoint you. you realized this when you discovered your ex-boyfriend cheating on you. so, to protect your own heart, you decided to break others instead.
you think you’ve shattered jay’s heart to pieces, but he can’t get you out of his head.
code word: pineapple
okay, so maybe you’ve made a lot of mistakes along the way (jisung confirms this a lot), but you have never been so sure of wanting jay back. the only way to do that, however, is be completely honest about your feelings. you have to tell jay that you love him. that he lights you on fire. that the burns that followed are worthwhile.
one problem: you have no idea how to confess.
luckily for you, code word: pineapple was created by your social organizations as a warning for whenever you and jay—fire and gasoline—were in close proximity. it was now time for you to reinvent that meaning.
or, the one where code word: pineapple is how you try to tell jay he’s your home.
baby blue
jay thinks you’re the color red—bold, vibrant, and blunt. but now you’re navigating a full-fledged relationship and have never felt so wary of every little thing. you’re baby blue, but maybe you’re okay with that.
or, the one where you try your hardest to be the best girlfriend you can be.
hope i never lose you, hope it never ends
college is coming to an end and everyone’s thinking about the future—about internships, about jobs, about marriage. when jay reveals that he wants to go to graduate school across the country while you’re entering the work force, you wonder if your relationship is hanging on by a string.
for once, thankfully, you both want to make it work.

hi!! for the requests, could I suggest hoseok, fluff, fake dating au, and the sentence 'I’ve been in love with you since we were kids.' thank you!
↳ Humdrum Amore
2.7k || 100% Fluff || Jung Hoseok
“I never thought I’d come back here one day.”
You stare at the brown building that you once dreaded. The same structure that you had to drag your feet into every morning five days a week after your dad dropped you off. But instead of feeling apprehension, there’s a sense of prickling nostalgia while you look at the building.
“Same.” The man beside you exhales, staring at the green field, the brown doors and small windows covered by blinds. “But it’s not all that bad, right?”
You turn to Hoseok who looks sharp in his simple suit and tie ensemble. You’ve seen him in the same clothes plenty of times, but while you’re wearing your red dress and you’re lingering in front of the school, it feels like the two of you have returned to being awkward eighteen year olds nervously going to prom together as friends.
But Hoseok eases you. “Come on.”
He takes your hand, a gesture you still aren’t used to, and tugs you inside.
The moment the doors are open, you follow the signs leading to the gymnasium and you’re met with a table of refreshments and goody bags. But more importantly, there are people already mingling in all corners. Some are wandering while most have gathered into groups to reminisce. There are those that you recognize and those whose faces have long faded in your memories.
High school. A time of pubescent years, of growing up and trying to prove yourselves while figuring out your future. You have mixed feelings about that time. All you know is that you’re glad it’s over.
“Y/N?” There’s a higher pitched voice to the left and you turn to see Tiffany approaching with a wide smile. “Hoseok?! Oh my god, it’s been so long since I’ve seen you guys! How are you?”
You hug her for a second. “It’s good. You?”
“Yeah.” She exhales as if she can’t believe you’re together again and you admit, it is surreal. There was definitely a difference from glancing at someone’s post, status and updates on social media and seeing them in person. “It’s been great. I didn’t know if you were coming to this reunion or not.”
You smile, glancing at Hoseok. He was right about coming. “I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
Someone walks by with a tray of cheap champagne and all three of you take a glass, thanking the waiter. Tiffany sips her drink and gets down to the nitty-gritty. “So tell me, what do you do now?”
You brace yourself, knowing this was coming. “I’m working as an embryologist at a fertility lab.”
“That’s so cool!” Her eyes widen and she genuinely appears fascinated. “It sounds super fancy.”
You laugh, concealing the note of awkwardness in your voice. Tiffany doesn’t know that it sounds much better than it actually is. It’s an entire step down from being a family doctor, an occupation which you once said was your dream. And she has no clue that you’re struggling under your strict manager, that you just received a cut in pay and your hours are strenuous.
But you don’t dare show your exhaustion. Or your discontentment.
You keep flashing a bright smile.
Everyone in high school expected you to do great, that you would go somewhere, do something. You were the smart one. The hard-working one. There’s always been a certain burden of expectations on your shoulders from your parents to your teachers, and perhaps that’s where the need to prove yourself to your former peers stems. If they knew how mundane and regular and normal you turned out — instead of being the successful achiever — you’re sure their disappointment would have a bigger effect on you more than you’d ever admit.
And maybe that’s why Hoseok offered to pretend to be your partner for the night after you grieved about not being with anyone, when you struggled to find a plus one. He knows you best after all.
“What are you doing?” you ask Tiffany, and she hesitates, looking down at her drink for a second.
“Actually, I’m in-between jobs at the moment.” She musters a smile. “The economy sucks right now.”
You sympathize. “Yeah, I know what you mean. It’s hard to find a job these days.”
Tiffany turns to Hoseok and when she asks what he’s been up to, he says, “Nothing much. I’m working in IT as a development manager for this company.”
“Oh, that’s super cool too!” She’s about to ask something, but then her eyes incidentally stray downwards. You follow her line of sight, realizing that she’s looking at the way you’re holding hands with Hoseok.
“We’re...actually dating now,” you explain.
Instantaneously, Tiffany brightens. “You guys started dating after high school? When?!”
You laugh awkwardly. “Two...three years ago?” It doesn’t sound terribly convincing, so you try a second time, standing your ground. “Two, I think.” It falls a bit short, but she doesn’t notice.
No. Tiffany absolutely gushes. “That’s so cute! Oh my god! I always thought you’d both be good together!”
That has you taken aback. The relief of getting away with your lie and not being caught gets overtaken by surprise. “Really?”
“Well yeah. You were always close friends and everyone,” she emphasizes the word by drawing it out, “knew Hoseok had a huge crush on you.”
This was news to you.
But Hoseok outright ignores your stare in favour of smiling at your old friend and holding up your interlaced hands by your heads as if it’s a trophy. “Well, looks like I got the girl in the end.”
“Are you gonna propose any time soon then?”
There’s a glint of mischief in Hoseok’s eye. “Maybe.”
He’s way too good at lying. You’re starting to get convinced this is real.
“Aw, I wish I was at this honeymoon stage again. Everything’s so sweet and cute.”
Speaking of which. “Where’s Nick?” you ask.
Tiffany deflates slightly at the question and you wonder if you said something wrong. You don’t understand until she says, “Oh….yeah...we decided to split up a few months ago.”
“Really?” You would’ve never expected it. From what you remember, they were one of the few high school sweethearts that actually made it in the long run, a couple that you used to be jealous of at sixteen. They ended up getting married too and you saw pictures of them traveling together a year ago. Who knew what her life was actually like behind the scenes. “I’m...so sorry, Tiffany.”
“It’s alright. Life happens, I guess, but it all worked out in the end and we both have joined custody of Sunny. It gets messy sometimes but as long as she’s happy, I am too.” She smiles softly and then nods. “Well, it was really nice to catch up with you two. I’m happy to hear you’re going out. Better put a ring on this one before you lose her, Jung.”
“I will,” he promises.
Tiffany leaves to catch up with a girl she knew from choir, so you both bid your goodbyes. But somehow, the conversation leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
After greeting a few more old friends and acquaintances, you leave to the hallway.
The nostalgia slams into you, stronger than before. If you stare long enough, you can picture the hall crammed with your classmates, how you ran from class to class, sat in the desks, bored out of your mind and at times, stressed. The walls and rooms hold so many of your memories without them knowing. And that in itself makes you feel old and gray, even though you aren’t.
Not yet, at least. Hoseok always reassures you that you have another good thirty years before you’re allowed to call yourself old.
Said man glances at your expression and reads it like an open book. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” You sigh. “It’s just….I don’t know. I was trying to save face this entire time and I even went as far as to lie about our relationship.”
“You didn’t do it alone. I lied too.”
“Yeah, but I wanted this.” You shake your head, slowly rounding a corner and making your way down what you remember as the science corridor. “People probably have more going on with themselves than to care what I’m up to. I don’t know why I was so scared about what they would think about me.”
The corner of his mouth curls, and he nudges you with his elbow. “It’s high school.”
You lightly scoff but a smile tickles at your lips. “I just feel bad. Tiffany was so honest about herself, and she wasn’t ashamed about how her life turned out, not like I am.”
“No one turned out how they expected themselves to,” he hums in a thoughtful tone while glancing at the bulletin board tacked with handmade flyers for clubs. “It’s okay if you didn’t end saving the planet or finding the cure to cancer.”
You snort and soften. “Yeah.”
Hoseok always knows what to say to make you feel better.
“Look!” The peaceful moment is interrupted by the sheer volume of his voice. He points down the hall. “Our old lockers!”
You laugh, quickening your steps with his. The lockers are not technically yours anymore, they haven’t been for a long time and have probably been through tens of students since. Even right now, there are unfamiliar locks that keep them closed. But you still remember which one was yours.
You stand in front of it and Hoseok stands in front of his which is only three lockers down from yours.
The pair of you look at one another, exchanging grins. “Remember when I kept your math textbook for you since you were too lazy to put it away and we had to toss it to each other every morning?”
“Yeah. I never missed once.” He laughs and it’s a bubbly sound that’s exactly the same as back then. “Remember that time Taehyung stuffed himself inside my locker and we locked him in?”
You burst out laughing. “We almost got into trouble by Mr. Min!”
“Yep. That old man was always trying to pick on kids.”
“Except for that time Jimin launched that cake across the hall and it landed on some poor girl. He was nowhere to be found.”
Hoseok grins and comes over to lean on the blue locker next to yours, crossing his arms like he’s waiting for you before you’re late for the bell.
A sentimental feeling that is both wistful and happy washes you over again. You can recall those years as if they were yesterday. Namely, Hoseok would always be there when you closed your locker door, in the exact same position, staring at you with that identical warm expression. You don’t know a lot of your old high school friends anymore, don’t know what they’re doing or if they’ll come. It’s a natural progression of life, of going different paths and naturally drifting apart.
But Hoseok has always been your side. Since then till now.
“So.” You turn to him. “What’s this about everyone knowing you had a crush on me?”
Hoseok goes wide-eyed and says nothing for a moment. Then he scratches the back of his neck. “Just stupid kid stuff.”
You raise a brow and hum. “Didn’t sound like stupid kid stuff. How long did you even like me for?”
“I don’t know. Why?”
“I’m curious.” You shrug. “I never heard about this before.”
Hoseok is embarrassed, that much is obvious. You can tell by the way he’s brushing around the subject, not looking you in the eyes, how much he’s hesitating. It’s not like him and that makes you even more intrigued. “A while.”
Maybe you shouldn’t push him so much when he doesn’t want to talk about it. But for some reason, there’s a burning desire inside of you to know. After all, you thought you knew all of your best friend’s secrets.
“What’s a while?”
“Like sixth grade?”
Your jaw drops. “So when we met?”
“Yeah..?” Hoseok seems unsure and he’s staring at the other wall as if it’s the most interesting thing he’s ever seen. There’s nothing but a dirty shoe print on it. “Something like that.”
Now it’s your turn to be perplexed. Although, for an entirely different kind of reason. “But why?”
He turns his head, as if sensing you’re about to self-deprecate yourself. “You’re funny and smart and pretty, Y/N. Everyone liked you,” Hoseok explains it as if it’s factual and your cheeks grow warm.
You suck in your cheek, fiddling with the fabric of your dress. “Then why didn’t you ever tell me you liked me?”
“I was awkward and I was too scared you’d reject me,” he exhales and you glance at him to find an unreadable expression. Perhaps he’s uncomfortable at the idea now that he’s grown out of it and he knows you too well. Or maybe...just maybe...he’s filled with regret.
You shake off the thought before your imagination runs wild.
You’re about to drop the subject once and for all, but as you turn away, the quiet mutter slips from your mouth, “I wouldn’t have.”
Hoseok catches it.
He freezes completely and when you realize he’s not following you back to the gymnasium, you turn around. “Earth to Hoseok. What’s wrong?”
“What about now?”
“What?”
His expression is blank aside from the slight furrow of his brow. It’s not often Hoseok’s entirely serious and you’re caught off guard by his demeanour. He closes the distance in three strides and asks, “If I asked you out now, if I said I wanted to date you for real, would you reject me?”
His gaze is dark. Intense. As if he’s mustered up the courage he’s built for years for this very moment.
Your mouth opens, eyes unable to look away from him and your voice pipes out a timid— “no.”
In an instant, Hoseok’s mouth is on yours. Your back slams against the lockers as he cradles your cheeks in his palms, tilting his head to capture your lips carefully yet eagerly. You whine in his grasps and quickly reciprocate, moving your mouth against his. It’s soft, warm and comforting. Hoseok has always been comforting to you. A slow burn rather than a bursting firework that eventually fades away. A warm bonfire that’s built from the first spark rather than a forest wildfire that ultimately burns out after consuming everything.
You’ve always loved him. But perhaps it wasn’t always purely platonic like you thought. At least not until tonight where that’s been challenged.
Hoseok's body is firm and warm against yours. His knee is placed between your thighs and you loop your arms around his neck to get him even closer. Your senses are filled with his cologne, the lingering scent of his shaving cream and shampoo. Hoseok tastes like the champagne he drank and you’re beginning to feel dizzy from it. That or you’re running out of breath.
You whimper rather pathetically, but he doesn’t let up. Not until you push at his shoulder and he has to gather his self-restraint to part from you.
You’re left panting heavily against him, lips swollen and Hoseok exhales before laughing. “I’ve always wanted to do that.”
You grin. “Always?”
“I’ve been in love with you since we were kids. Practically.”
Never would you have thought Hoseok would kiss you against your lockers. It’s another memory you’re making in these walls even after years of graduating. But you’d like a second time to make up for all the others, so you start to tug Hoseok’s tie to get him closer again—
“Hey!”
There’s an ear-splitting shout and the two of you flinch, whirling around to the end of the hall.
“You’re supposed to be in the gymnasium!” Old man Mr. Min is bumbling towards you with a cane, his voice surprisingly still full of power even when he looks like a sack of bones.
“Sorry!” You duck your head and before he can catch you, your hand entwines with Hoseok’s. The two of you dash down the hall as if you were still trouble-making high-schoolers.
Hoseok mutters in complete shock, “He’s still alive?!”
And you laugh, squeezing his hand just a bit tighter.
You return to the reunion and your heart is a bit lighter knowing this time, you don’t have to lie.
